Humans think they are smarter than dolphins because we build cars and buildings and start wars etc., and all that dolphins do is swim in the water, eat fish and play around. Dolphins believe that they are smarter for exactly the same reasons.

Creativity -- like human life itself -- begins in darkness. We need to acknowledge this. All too often, we think only in terms of light: "And then the lightbulb went on and I got it!" It is true that insights may come to us as flashes. It is true that some of these flashes may be blinding. It is, however, also true that such bright ideas are preceded by a gestation period that is interior, murky, and completely necessary.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Christy is still here and we have two doggies in the house.  There's one who loves everyone and everything and wants to play all the time.  And then there's and older one who's used to being the ONLY one here.  He's slowly coming around but it's going to take another visit for him to open up!

I read everything and took thought on it but I don't have time for answers.  I am going to answer Callie though.  I am leaving here the end of April for my visit in OK and I'll be there until the end of June.  I hope we can work out a visit.  I'm sure Cindy could drop me off on her way to her employer in TX and pick me up coming back.  Or maybe she could have a visit with her friend near you while you and I have a visit.  We'll think about it!

Now I have to get back to my daughter.  I don't see enough of her so I like to spend time with her when I can.  You all have a good day.  Happy April Fool's Day!

Hello Everyfriend!  Christy is on her way home and when she calls that she made it safely, I'll be bedding down for the night.  I wore myself out this weekend!  Christy and I made a casserole over a recipe of hers for supper tonight and I'm going to have to add that recipe to my file.  It has chicken cut up in little chunks, mashed potatoes, carrots, sweet peppers, onions and cheese on top.  If there's anything else I forgot.  But I do want the recipe!

After we ate and early supper, Christy finished packing her car and took off for home!  I missed her before she turned the corner!

Now I have to remember two dr. appts this week and another one next week.  Other than that, I just have to get my packing done by the end of the month.  I hope you all have a peaceful night and a lovely tomorrow.  And that's not an April Fool's Day joke.  I mean it!

Good Morning to AMY and anyone else who shows face today!  AMY I'm glad to hear you're whipping this thing that is getting so many of us and that it didn't hit Kyle really hard!

I'm showered, dressed and ready for my dr. appt this morning.  Cathy will be around to pick me up soon.  Cooper arrived, had his breakfast and a walk and is fast asleep right now.  I'll probably be back in time for his second walk!

Christy made it home safely.  It's about a 2 and a half hour drive from here to her home in Maryland.  She's flying to OKLA. with me at the end of this month.  She'll stay (I think) for a week's visit with Cindy and family and then fly home.  Cindy and I are driving back to PA when the time comes.  I'll have my computer there so I'll be able to communicate.

I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to stop by and share it with us!

Interesting day..one I do not wish to repeat anytime soon.  Picked up a new bed for Babe...big enough for two dogs!! Walking out with it on my cart and man asked you must have a big dog!! Well...I looked at him and said a Chihuahua, the look on his face was pricless but then I did tell him a Border Collie. :)) We did what we had to do in the city and scurried on home. PJ's and feet up time coming soon.

Patricia, tea for me please. :)

Good Night to those who posted and for anyone who peeked in but didn't post.  Please post the next time you peek in!

I'm off to the haystack.  Cooper will be here around 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning and, if the weather person is right, it will be raining and cold for our walks.  Supposed to rain all night tonight and all day tomorrow.  The puddles are almost to big to jump over in the street!

Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed!  Enjoy your day tomorrow and stop by and tell us HOW you enjoyed it!  GOOD NIGHT!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's still raining here...all night and all day yesterday and all day today!  The puddles are ENORMOUS!

AMY, it sounds like you might be on the road to recovery!  YAY!

Cooper is here, we went for a walk in the rain, he had his breakfast and he's loafing!  I also had my breakfast and I'm thinking about joining him in his loafing.  Well, after I throw a load in the washere, clean out the fridge and run the dishwasher.  Then, of course, the laundry will have to be folded and put away and the dishes will have to be put away.  But before I can run the dishwasher, I HAVE to go through the fridge and put some stuff in smaller dishes and freeze some of it!  It does sound like a busy day!  Oh well!  That's life!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Same weather here as Jane has. We have flood warnings for later, along with some high winds. Again, I'm thankful I live at the top of the hill. Have to prep and send some claim forms, so better get it done early - before possible outage.

It didn't rain here yesterday but it was hot!  Upper 80's and the AC was running.  Today it is cooler but rainy.  Had some this morning and more expected this afternoon.  Yes, it is indeed Spring.

I'm trying to figure out what I need from Amazon.  As usual, once I place the order I  will think of something else I need.....But, there is always tomorrow.  The Amazon truck stops here so often I'm thinking of adopting the driver.  :2funny:

Good mid-afternoon all at 3:54. After the usual daily grind and reassuring meet and greets, I headed out to pick up some cash and pay bills and get some food and dry goods.

I discovered, or actually just paid attention to; two interesting personal habits. I almost always, with rare exceptions, shop the back section of the store. The upper double row of shelves are the new, improved and heavily advertised items while the back side is what you actually need, or at least that's the way I see it.

The other habit struck me at the register. My main items, and this is usually so, were fruit and vegetables, mainly fresh, with about a quarter frozen. The only exceptions were some dry goods and a package of ground turkey. This is my regular monthly grocery shop. I do have different cuts of frozen meat from my last monthly trip and or leftovers.

Edit: Someone had mentioned issues with sciatica pain, and I found a list of exercises for it. If this is you, I'll forward them.

Wednesday evening HELL0.

Busy week already.  Today we had the next to last balance class. It has been informative and we have enjoyed meeting people in our community. This afternoon I had a low back MRI done.  we arrived a half hour early as there have been some sever traffic issues in the area.  Found out after our arrival they were running nearly one hour behind😩  No biggie....and they were extremely apologetic about it.  I was 5 minutes late to an appointment last week due to traffic and they cancelled my appointment.  Every other time we have been to this clinic they have never called me on time.

AMY, I understand your being zapped good by your cold.  I am finally starting to feel pretty normal now and thankfully most of the lasting symptoms are gone.  Hope you continue to feel much better.

Going to call it a night. Sleep well EVERYFRIEND ‼️

that was me, Patricia. It was short-lived, but it feels tonight like it might be coming back to visit.  I did a lot of "little work" around the house today, so maybe that's why the hip is hurting (not big time hurt, like just around the edges, LOL)  If you have some exercises, they might come in handy so send them on.

Good morning..

So far no power outage and there is 3+inches of heavy wet snow  on the ground. There is no way I am going to dance in it!!!

Poor birds are having a time scrounging for food...will put out extra seed for them.

Cooking and cutting up the dogs chicken hearts and beef liver then hope to scare my sewing room and do a bit of sewing.

Jenny, nothing has knocked the socks off me like this did.Just when you think you can go full steam ahead it knocks you on your butt. :(  Happy to read you are feeling much better.

Patricia, I am going to save your url, just incase..thank you for posting it.

Rick, hope you folks don't lose power. Do you have a back up generator if you do?

Jane, do you get Cooper today?

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Everyone has been fed, dogs outside and now time to get some work done.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  AMY, you can keep that snow north of the border!  Even our rain has stopped!  We have huge puddles but parts of the road are even dry!  I have NOTHING planned for today.  Frankie's off today so Cooper will be spending his day with his "Mommy"!

I finished the laundry yesterday and today the dishwasher has to go.  I'm out of regular spoons and reduced to using soup spoons for everything!  I just might have to eat some SOUP today!

PATRICIA, you shop like I do.  I use the aisles that have staples in them more than the specials.  Sometimes, I do LOOK at the specials and some of the new stuff that's out and once in a GREAT while I try something new.  Sometimes I like and sometimes I don't!  When I do that, I think of my Mother and especially my Gramma.  She used to say things like, "What do you use THAT for!" and "Do we HAVE to eat that?"  I finally know what she meant!

I wish you all a pleasant day!  Make it your own in every way!   And come by and share it with us!

We did not lose power last night, but many around here did.  The local authorities (police & Fire) were busy with many reports of trees and wires down, and some on houses. I'll take a walk around the outside soon and check things out - and recover my garbage cans.  Surely the usual flood areas are under water today. Must be a "fun" commute for those going to work this morning.

Rick ,glad you're ok! There are 300,00 people without power in Quebec. I would say we are lucky here, I am staying in and looking out at the snow :)  Well, I did go out and feed the poor birds....sad faces and holding their tummy got to me.

My first chore this morning was to feed my wildlife - and hope they didn't all blow away.
BTW - I do have a generator. It's a moveable one, on wheels, kept in the garage. It's big enough to power all the necessary things and a light or two. Problem is, - I haven't run it for 4 or 5 years, So have no idea if it would start and run OK now.  My accumulating years of life has limited what I can readily do.

Rick , we also have the same set up. Bring out from garage and hook into the generator side of the power panel. We start ours up every now and again just to be sure.

Thankfully our is on a wagon , we need to invest in another as this Honda is getting like us.....old :(

Good mid-morning from the Interior at 10:22 and 29 degrees. We had an overnight snow flurry that barely painted the streets white. However, more snow is due overnight on Saturday. What happened to Spring this year?

Morning domestic duties, (Thanks Callie), done and Farrah fed and morning meet and greets done. Today is laundry day, along with a few odds and ends I've put off.

Jane, shopping is "Buyer beware," these days or simply more overt. I saw an advert masking as a story about things we must have for our home, including the phase, I can't believe. One of the first comments was," I can't believe either, SMH."

I used to have multiple kitchen gadgets and junk everywhere until 2013. That's when decluttering became a thing, and just after my friends and I had spent considerable time and effort moving way too much from my one apartment to the other. I still have too much.

It changed the way I shop, although I still fumble now and again. With my allergies, I'm not able to eat a lot of the chemical crap masquerading as actual food, so that helps too.

It was NOT a rainy day today.  The sun was behind the clouds part of the time but it did come out and shine for a good part of the day!  SPRING is here!  Rain and shine!

Cooper will be here tomorrow so it's my plan to cork off to bed early tonight.  I had a busy day today and got a lot of stuff done.  Of course, most of it doesn't show unless you watched me do it so I don't know if that counts or not!  Anyway, I know it's done!

Right now, it's 42 degrees and supposed to make it to 46 tomorrow.  That's fine with me.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make it a good day and don't forget to share it with us!  Take good care of youreself!

I did make the chicken and stuffing cassarole and it ws good! Plus enough left over for a few more meals. Will add vegetables next time .

Good Morning, AMY and anyone elso who shows up!  I was up early to meet and greet with Cooper.  We had our walk and he had his breakfast (I had mine before he got here!).  Now he's resting on the couch and waiting for his next activity.  I'll be getting a shower and getting into "going-places" type clothes for a Dr. appt. later today.  It's just a regular checkup so nothing special.

I have the bedroom in shape and a load of clothes in the washer but no one and means NO ONE is allowed in the spare bedroom.  I've bee putting stuff in there that I want to pack for my trip to OKLAHOMA that is coming up the end of the month.  I have to fit it on airplane space to get there and I'm not used to that.  I've always traveled there by car.  Don't know if I can take Cindy the local potato chips and pretzel balls that she loves.  The kids are getting a taste for the pretzel balls too.  We're coming back by car so I can bring some of the stuff from there that I've attained a hankering for.

AMY, It sure sounds like you're back on the path health-wise and I'm sure glad to see that!  I hope you don't get much snow.  We;re due for some more rain and I'm not looking forward to that.  It's dry today but supposed to rain tomorrow.

I wish Everyfriend a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And pop in here to share it.  We miss you when you don't come by!

No damage here, but I almost went down to check my furnace. Earthquakes are not that common here so we never suspect vibration is one - we think our furnace misfiring. A neighbor works in NYC and he felt it, and emailed my son to ask about here.

Good morning from a sloppy Interior at 33 degrees. I want to know who angered Mother Nature, as Spring seems to have been cancelled.

"Areas of heavier snow showers, have developed around Fairbanks and across the Hills around town. In addition, fog has developed and may restrict visibility, as well. Travelers should be aware of potentially slick roads and poor visibility through the morning."

Amy, I hope you're feeling better, and please take it easy for a couple of days to not have any relapses!

Jane, I hear you; "no peeking in the spare bedroom from me!"

I read about the earthquake affecting New York, Connecticut and New Jersey 4.8 and 51 minutes ago?

Earthquakes in the Interior are less common and tend to roll. Earthquakes in the Southeast are common and since they're on a narrow strip of land between mountains and sea, they tend to be sharp and abrupt.

Rammel, Miss Ellen lives in (on?) Manhattan west of Yankee Stadium.  She said she felt the quake ("it lasted a long time") but didn't notice nor hadn't heard of any damage in her area.

Our weather has been wet and bouncing back and forth between near freezing and the 80's.  Last weekend, there were 5 "small" tornadoes. Weather gurus are saying "wait until mid-April to plant flowers".  I usually put out my hummingbird feeder about now but think I'll wait until the end of the month this year.

My Home Health Care p.t. decided I don't need supervised exercising and gave me a list of the exercises I'd been doing when he came. His evaluator agreed and I've now been "dismissed"  ;) from having a visit twice a week.  Fine with me!!!!
I can do the leg exercises while I'm waiting on the microwave, waiting for oven to heat or doing other things at the kitchen counter and arm exercises can be done while I'm watching t.v.

Janie, one thing I learned while I was traveling and having to limit luggage for flights was to roll shirts/knit tops and "unmentionables" ;)  instead of folding them. Could fit more in the suitcase and lay slacks on top of them.

It's been a busy week and I'm ready to have a "leisurely" weekend.

Time to say "Good Night Everyfriend"!  I'm ready for the haystack!  Cooper arrives around 6:45 in the morning and I like to be ready because when he gets here he's ready for a walk and then breakfast.  I get dressed and have my breakfast before he gets here.

CALLIE, I'm a clothes roller from way back.  We learned at Girl Scout Camp and at home in troops that you can get a lot more in a back pack for an overnight hike if you roll it.  I even roll some of the stuff (like pajamas) that go in my drawers at home!

The rain has stopped here but we've had a couple of nights down in the 30s.  However, the days mostly make it into the 40s and some into the 50s.  It's definitely Spring weather around here.

I didn't feel any earthquake here but my daughter said she heard on the news that it was felt in some areas close by.  I'm pretty close to Central Pennsylvania and I think the very edge of it might have be felt here....or maybe not!  But I didn't feel it!

I had my regular check up at the dr. today and he says I'm healthier that a lot of people he sees who are 10 or 15 or so years younger than I am!  He said "Keep up the good work!"  I like that guy!

Better get my "night straightening" done and hit the hay.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Don't forget to sneak back in here and share your day with us.  I'm baking cookies tomorrow and I'll put a jar over there by the coffee pot!

Checking in to this topic briefly as I saw a few had been asking about me following the storms in this area earlier this week. I'm fine - just have been busy with work (I'm working until 10pm most nights now and have to get up early Monday through Wednesday to take my nieces to school because my brother-in-law works early those days). There were some tornadoes in this part of the country, but none where I live. The closest was near Dillsboro, Indiana - about 30 miles (49km) west of me. We just got a lot of wind, rain, thunder and lightning here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning from the Interior. We had some snow and then rain and snow overnight with little to no accumulation. Midafternoon, we are to expect more rain and snow, again with no accumulation. This type of weather is to last through at least the 20th. So, I will make sure I have lots of coffee and homemade soup on hand.

It's reported that the same type of wintry issues will remain in the rest of the country and possibly Canada, Thanks, Mother Nature.

For a day of unplanned jobs I did get a lot done and will wash the vehicle later this evening.

Amy, at 2:20, we still have rain but no new snow. I think the rain and the 40 degrees will help get rid of the left over snow pockets.

Today I was in a shoe store that sells only shoes, nothing else. A young girl with a tattoo and green hair walked over to me and asked, "What brings you in today, I looked at her and said, "I'm interested in buying a refrigerator." She didn't quite know how to respond, had that deer in the headlights look.

Good morning..

Looking to be a lovely day. NO snow in sight!

My friend brought me a quilt kit that I am putting together for her so will familiarize  myself with the pattern then dive into making it. She has a lot on her plate at the moment and I offered to do it.

Geese are just starting to wake up on the lake as are the song birds. Temp is 26° at the moment and will reach to 60°.

Patricia, love your post!! I guess that is why I told the young man that huge bed was for a Chihuahua, pricless look on his face. Then we both had a good laugh.

Rick ,any after shocks your way. News said to expect them up to 4-5 days!!

Jane, do you get Cooper today? How is your finger you sliced??

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Yes, AMY, I do have Cooper today.  He spent the night with me because his mamma had to be in to work by 6 a.m. today so we had a pretty fun day yesterday and a snuggly night last night.  We had our morning walk and we both had breakfast.

Cathy and husband Craig are meeting their son and brand new DIL at Yankee Stadium today to see a game together!  I'm glad it's not raining!  My son will be dropping me at church a bit later so my next activity is to get ready for that.  I'm off and running this morning.  But I'll be losing Cooper at 2:30 instead of 3:30 today so that makes the day a bit longer.

Cookies over there on the counter.  Help yourself!  They are healthy ones! So you can stuff yourselves!  They turned out better than I thought they would!

I'm off to the showers!  I wish you all a good day!  Enjoy it!  And stop by to say "HI" to the rest of us!

Good morning...

Another lovely day out there, birds are striking up a chorus!

Take garbage away and pay a bill .exciting isn't it! :) The trip to the dump is as we just might be in time to see a bear, the eagles have left there and I am assuming they are nesting now.

Laundry, cook up the hearts and beef liver for Babe and maybe make a pot of soup.

Jane, your cookies are good , had one before bed with a glass of cold milk.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning to AMY and anyone else who looks in today!  Glad you liked the cookies AMY.  I thought they turned out pretty good, too!

Frankie has the day off today so Cooper will spend it with her and I'll be here by myself...unless the plumber shows face!  I think have to do more in the bathroom than un clog!  I wonder how much MORE!

I'm ready to take a walk by myself as soon as I finish here.  And I'm working on my second cup of coffee, too.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  So far the temp is only up to 36 degrees but it's heading for a high of 64 this afternoon!  I can live with that!

Hair cut done, the Dad was there so that made Kyle happy.Dad does better than the son!
Yesterday was interesting...not just the eclipse! I helped the neighbour chase an escaped rooster!! She said the rooster must have heard them say that they were going to be killed.....can't blame the rooster for running. :2funny:

Now to get my kitchen in order after vacuum sealing hot dogs , I use them to put Babe's pill in. Amazing how smart they are at finding pills in food! Now I give her 4 pieces and one has the pill in it.....so far so good.

Made a pot of beef barley soup yesterday ,lunch is taken care of  supper well we will just wing it.

Rick,we are to get into the 70's today. Might go out and rake up the pine needles......notice I said might.

Jane, enjoy your trip to the Amish store!!

Patricia, hope today is a much better day for you!!

Cloudy and chilly here.  Just when I think spring is here to stay it turns chilly again.

David went out to see our 75% of the eclipse yesterday but I saw more of it live on YouTube. Later I actually made a loaf of bread!  Remember during the pandemic there was a bread mix and yeast shortage because all of the people staying home from the office were making bread?  Well, yeast is easy to find now but no one is selling bread mix for bread machines anymore.  I found a place in San Francisco that shipped a couple of kinds to me and they arrived yesterday.  I made a loaf of Country White bread and it is delicious, but I probably won't order again because it is really pricey.  Hope I can find some around here that is cheaper.  I could make it from scratch but I can't stand for very long so makes it difficult.

Take care, All

Rick, they were wise words but I didn't listen to me. Such a lovely day out that I started and finally got all the cones and needles raked up. While doing that the neighour with the run away rooster came and gave me a rooster all dressed ready for the freezer plus a doz coloured eggs.

Phyllis, what about mixing the dry ingredients up one day..flour,sugar salt and yeast. Then the following day do the liquid and then add the dry ingredients?? Would that work for you?

Good morning from the Interior at 8:56 and 25 degrees. The snow, what there is of it, is rapidly melting even though it's cooled.

All my dailies are done, and I have the first of three packages due today, one tomorrow and one Thursday. Plus a needed trip downtown sometime this week to turn in and collect some papers.

Jane, we need a local Wengers. All the neighborhood and ethnic groceries disappeared with Covid, and only the grocery mall anchors are left. There is a high-end organic market, but the prices are also high end and an offered membership, not a saver.

In June, the farmer's markets will begin opening, and the local farmers will begin their subscriptions and fresh foods will be welcome.

Phyllis, I tried multiple YouTube eclipse offerings but was frustrated by all the switching to crowd size, news anchors' asides, and expert's opinions, interspersed with fleeting glimpses of the actual eclipse. We are too far north and evidently the light bends in the arctic so we miss much of what's seen further south.

Amy, sounds like another busy day for you and Kyle and that you're feeling more like yourself again. I admit to feeling sorry for the rooster and his abrupt end.

None of my friends farm any longer and none drive anymore either, so transportation is becoming an issue for everyone. I live in the city center, which means all the malls and recreational activities are across the river that bends around the center of town.

There are senior rides available for various appointments and groceries, I need to get that doctor's appointment scheduled and done, so I'm able to use them. The city buses run on the hour 7am to 8pm if you don't need to carry much. Local taxis, are expensive.

I'm still trying to get back into a better sleep pattern. But, it's better.

Supper's cooking!  I found a ham in the freezer and it's now in the oven.  It'll last me for several meals.  I think I'll make up a few dinners and freeze them for another time.  I also made potato pancakes out of some potatoes that either had to be used or chucked.  They got used!  And there's broccoli to go with it.  It sounds like a good supper to me!

AMY, you got a lot done in the yard!  That's something I don't do any more!  But I did find a nice guy to do it.  He doesn't charge me "an arm and a leg" and when he raised his price $5. he apologized!  But it took him 3 years to raise the price!  Not bad!

Cooper went home around 4 and he was delighted to see his Mommy when she showed up!  He seems to know the time that she's due because he started listening for her car about 10 minutes after her quitting time.

PATRICIA, I like AMY's suggestion of doing part of your dinner one day and finishing it up the next!  That sounds like a plan that would work!

AMY, odd to see the Rooster running one day and have him offered for supper the next day!  I remember back in the old days, watching my Grandmother wring the chicken's neck and then seeing it on the dinner table.  It was kinda hard for this 5 or 6 year old kid to get used to that.  I thought the chickens where my friends!

Better go check the ham (I didn't feel the same way about the pigs).

Good morning..
We  just got in from our last walkabout last night when the sky opened up with a lightening and thunder show.
Puddles about this morning and while out we heard the loons on the lake! Love it when they are back, listening to their calls echoing across the lakes.

Taking Kyle for a chiropractic appointment this morning...should be interesting.
Need to trim a tree out back after we come home .Branches are in the way of the riding lawnmower.

Jane, your grounds man sounds like a keeper!! We used to kill 75 chickens at a time till we found a place that did it all for you. They got the job!!

Patricia, when the neighbours incubate eggs they end up with too many roosters. I have to admit my pleasurer when out yesterday afternoon I heard roosters crow!

Better get on with my day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning.  Oh my how the days seem to fly away‼️

Yesterday my dad would have been 100 years old.  I sure miss him and oh how I wish he would have made it to this age‼️ I really thought he would as he was so healthy.

So much going on here with most of you.  It kind of wears me out just reading about it🤣🤣.

Sunday we drove north to visit our family with the youngest grands, On Saturday when we had planned to go we had a horrible storm pass through with gusts up to 100 MPH. Sunday was beautiful and we sat out in their backyard and the little boys played with water balloons.  That is Colorado weather for ya.  After our nice visit with them, we drove back home and had dinner with our 3 grands here.  It was a wonderful day❣️

We did see the solar eclipse.  Had a picnic lunch on our patio and kept an eye on it.  We were not in the path of it so only had a bit of darkness.  The next time there will be another one in 20 years it will be right over Colorado.  Mind you, I do not anticipate being here for it, but one never knows.

Yesterday I saw my surgeon for my 3 month post op.  He said everything look great and I no longer haven any restrictions. I took a copy of my MRI I had done last week and he was kind enough to look at it and told me he thought I can get by with a outpatient procedure with only a one inch incision to my lower back.  Not happy to have to have ANY more surgeries, however this one at least sounds more doable, and way better than continuing injections.

We had a huge limb in our small backyard split from the heavy snow a few weeks ago.  They finally came and chopped it down.  It was interesting to watch, but a bit scary as the man was standing on a small branch as he sawed off the big limb.

We are off to the last session of our six week balance class this morning.  It has been interesting but I am glad it is over.

I wish EVERYFRIEND a good Wednesday.

Good morning everyone has been so busy, rushing hither and yon, visiting grands and planning to. Nice to see everyone posting, and I enjoyed Bubble's new photos of Lynn this morning!

Nothing new here to post. Yesterday I ran out and dropped off some papers and back to get a number of nagging things done around the house. I received both packages due this week and have one last package due on Thursday.

I hope everyone everywhere is enjoying their day, and as Lloyd used to say, just as you like it.

So far the day has been amazing!! First the loons are back and now the swallows are here!! On the way into town we saw a fox off in the ditch ,then a pileated woodpecker flew in front of us. Then on the way home I had to brake hard for another fox but she was out on the highway! I would say Spring is here!

Jenny, my Dad's birthday was on the 6th and he would have been 110!! Yes, I miss him also.

Patricia, I see "nagging " things here also and they can just keep on nagging. I did get the limbs cut and bagged ready to go to the dump on Fri. I also looked into an electric chainsaw..that would sure make things much easier!

Patricia, I cleaned out the birdhouses getting ready for this years crop. House sparrows like to plug up nests that are close to where they will nest so no other bird is close by.

Time to think about the haystack!  Today when Cooper and I were out walking, I heard so much chirping and peeping that I felt like we were surrounded by birdies!  It sure does sound like Spring and Summer!  The temps were up into the 70s most of the day today!  I loved it!

Tomorrow the plumber is coming to put in a new sitting spot in my one bathroom.  He seems to think that if all the clog you have is in one place, that's the whole problem.  And the only clog I have is in one very popular spot in the bathroom!  So.....!

I guess I better get stuff straightened up and see what's in the haystack!  I wish you all a pleasant night's sleep and a good tomorrow!  Please stop by and share your day with us!  We love the company!

Well, I was up and attem ealry.  Met Cooper, took him for his first walk, fed him and the plumber pulled in the driveway.  He took the old Potty out and unboxed the new one to install and it had a big chip in it.  So he reloaded it and took off to get another one.  When he came back, he said they didn't have a replacement until tomorrow.  So he cleaned up, covered the hole and loaded up the old one and took off.  The bathtub/shower is usable but thank goodness, there's a second bathroom in this house.

RICK, Cooper isn't a bad shedder.  I don't even get hairy when I sit with him and he cuddles.  And there's NEVER hair in the bed.  Must be the kind of doggie he is!  I like that!

And that's the start of MY day.  I hope you all have a better start!  Now I'm going to go make some ham salad with the leftover ham.  That should cheer me up.  You all enjoy the rest of your day!  And come by and share it with us.

Really dark and gloomy here this morning and we are supposed to have severe storms starting about noon. David just cleaned out the drain tracks on the car so it wouldn't leak inside and we would have to get the shop vac out and take out a portable fan to dry it out. Having to leave the car parked outside can bring some problems because of all our trees and Spring pollen.

Amy, years ago when we had a LOT of cleanup of fallen trees from a hurricane we bought an electric chain saw for me.  Tom used the gas powered saw on bigger limbs and trees and I used the elec. saw on smaller limbs.  He called me "Chain Saw Granny"   ;D  It worked out very well and the elec. saw was lightweight enough for me to handle easily.  And, we didn't have to pay the gouging prices that tree companies were demanding.

I ordered a lot of ground chuck and BIG chicken breasts on special yesterday so I'll be busy today wrapping and sealing portion sizes to put in the freezer.  Hope this coming storm doesn't knock out our power.  There is enough meat to keep us supplied for several weeks.

Take care, All.

Good morning. I was planning to go downtown today but decided not to as we're having serious winds with 35-40mph wind gusts. And we're expecting snow overnight. At least my package due Friday is coming today, so perhaps I can go tomorrow. It seems as if the world, as a whole, is having terrible weather.

Amy, the only sounds we hear outside now are raven calls. I thought you lived just outside of town, but perhaps further out? I remember my brother-in-law packing up his garbage in old cardboard mail boxes that he would set in the back of his truck while doing errands. He got such a kick when he would return and his garbage was gone. He was always doing stuff like that.

Jane, you are having a time of it! Hope your repairman can get a new one set up tomorrow!

Phyllis, that's what I usually do the first part of the month, and then I end up making large meals and portioning those out even further.

We didn't get the amount of rain predicted but did get some. There is rain Fri and Sat....that will help green up the grass and bring out the bugs :(

Phyliss, I sold my P38 a few years back and I think it would be too heavy now anyway. I liked the look of the ones Rick posted but here they are a lot more money. I mentioned to Kyle and I can use the reciprosaw....I will have it plugged ito an outlet but we shall see how it is. If not then I am off to get a 6 -10" electric saw.

Patricia, with porch bandits about in the city and areas some folks are putting out the dirty cat litter for them to steal!! Never knew cat litter was in high demand  :2funny:

Jane, you will be happy to get your new throne installed! Nice having two bathrooms in the house!

We enjoyed a beautiful day here so we cleaned up our patio.  Uncovered the furniture to see if any squirrels chewed on our cushions‼️ Thankfully, they did not.  We still have storms with snow in the future so can't really plan on doing much more.

My goodness AMY, it certainly does appear spring has arrived with all the animals and birds out and about.  We are seeing more birds also, and a neighbor even mentioned seeing a hummer. I am not sure about that....

Dr. Dave dropped off the grand dogs for the night.  Granddaughter has a dance competition at 7:25 AM so they must spend the night at the dance location.  They will be there all weekend.  One grandson will be home after we pick him up from school tomorrow afternoon and then the doggies can go home.

JANE, so happy for you getting to go to OK to visit your family.  I am so happy for you. Hope the new seat in the bathroom being installed will take care of your issues. We need a new one also but hope to redo our whole bathroom area.

PATRICIA, you are right that the weather seems crazy all over the world.  Terrible winds and tornados. Good thing you can delay going out when the winds are that high.

PHYLLIS, I had to smile as I thought about you being "Chain Saw Granny"‼️

RAMMEL, that is a nice chain saw you shared from Amazon. We have thought about getting one like this with a longer pole to trim some dead branches on some pine trees in our view.

Hope EVERYFRIEND has a good night of rest.

I think the little battery powered chain saw would be great for pruning. I have a plug in chain saw on a pole that is good for things you can't reach. Chain saws can be dangerous, so be careful. We want everyone to come back here --- in one piece.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm kind of in a hurry.  Cooper will be arriving soon but I wanted to put in my agreement with RICK.  Please do come back here --- "in one piece"!

About the time I finish my morning duties (or maybe it's pleasures) with Cooper, the plumber will probably be arriving!  So here goes the morning!

It's always nice to hear from our Denver buddy.  You do have a great relationship with your family and it's always nice for us to share that with you!

AMY, our weather has turned to "April Showers".  It's supposed to rain most of the day today but just off and on.  However, when it does come down it's going to COME DOWN!  And darn it!  I won't be here for the "May Flowers"!  Maybe Frankie will take pictures!

Enjoy the rest of your day!  And share it with us!  We miss you if you don't!

Good morning...

Light drizzle out there this morning.  Take the outside rakings/cutting to the dump this morning. I can see a ban coming of no leaves/wood if we get into a dry season.
Domestic duties will be calling and I need to cook up more liver and hearts...oh yummy!

Jenny, glad the squirrels didn't chew anything. Birds are not very noisy this morning, must be the dull day.

Jane,  hope all goes well today with the instalation.

Rick, when the weather is nicer I will go out and try the reciprosaw, if I do feel uncomfortable with it then one of those cute saws will have a new home.

Better get some work done.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, 34 degrees and it's raining snow or sleet, whichever term is more accurate, in any case, you can barely see through it like a white fog.

Yesterday, we had 35-45mph wind gusts.

Hopefully, everyone is having a better day.

PATRICIA, you sure did have problems with that package!  I hope it arrives today!  I can't imagine them doing all that info on it!  Amazing!

AMY, have a great day.  Get lots done!  Your doggies will love you!

Gotta get back a put stuff back where it belongs!  Enjoy your day Everyfriend!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  The temp says it 48 degrees out there but the wind is blowing hard enough to sweep away a little kid or an old lady!  I did get my walk in this morning.  No Cooper this weekend to make me go for a walk so I made myself go!

I also have a batch of "Jim's Egg Thingys" in the oven!  The have about 8 minutes to go so I'm taking advantage of the time.

AMY, please keep the snow on your side of the border!  I do NOT want any more winter here!

PATRICIA, that bird did sound like a police siren!  That could get frustrating to the police people!

OOPS!  There goes my beeper!  You all have a good day!  Come by and share it with us!  Me miss you when you stay away!

"Hokey teddy bear" - Never heard that one before. So I popped it into my search engine and it came up with something interesting (but not "Hokey teddy bear"). --- "The teddy bear toss is a popular Christmas season promotion most common at junior ice hockey and minor league hockey games. Fans are encouraged to bring teddy bears or other stuffed toys to the game, and to throw them onto the ice when the home team scores its first goal. The toys are gathered to be donated as presents to hospitals and charities. In many cases, the players themselves personally donate some of the bears to children at area hospitals."
Sounds better than a "Hat Trick".

good late morn from the Interior, where we're back to sunny skies and lessening piles of dirty snow.

I was up late with a phone call, so slept in this morning.

I imagine that could get interesting if enough of those birds learn that same song.

I'd hate to be the one in that cage when those four lions were trying to get in from the outside. Not my thrill, Amy, I'd definitely need extra duty diapers...

You're back to being busy, I see. I used to be that way when I was still employed, and between work, home and family, I rarely sat down, but not so much anymore.

Rick the hockey teams do that here, but I haven't been to a game in a long time so haven't personally seen it, only seen news footage.

Jane, Jim's egg thingys sound good to me. I'll have to find where I stashed that recipe or look it up again on the recipe forum.

Another day is disappearing...it moves faster than I do!!
I did get some work done and even a bit of sewing, made Babe another lift belt and now she has 3.  Snow didn't last (thank goodness) If the rhubarb gets snowed on any more it just may refuse to poke its head up again!

Rick, one never know what one will hear! That was also a new one on me and I kinda liked it. I do like the fact that the audiance will throw teddy bears at hockey games. Lots of children will enjoy getting one. Years ago and I do mean years.I was given a teddy bear and that bear was bigger than I was ( he was 4'tall)..loved that bear to pieces and of course over time that is what happened to bear, he fell to pieces.

Patricia,my love for animals would take away the fright.I would love to watch the antic up close.

Jane, hope I didn't share the snow. Now it is cold and windy!! I was out in it for a while with Babe and now I am cold and whiny :)))  Cold goes right through you!

Hello Everyfriend!  Lots going on here some of the day and nothing going on some of the day but it all worked out OK.

AMY, your snow stayed away from here (thank you very much) but it was windy as all-get-out!  And the wind didn't even try to go around us.  It went right through us!  And it came through all the cracks in the house.  The fans in both bathrooms were making so much noise that I was sure wind was coming in so I kept both doors closes tight all day!  It's supposed to be sunny and warm tomorrow.  I hope the report is right!

RICK, I like the idea of tossing teddy bears out for the players to collect and share with kids who will love them!  I never heard or saw that!

PATRICIA,  I hope you lose your "dirty snow" soon.  That's one of the bad parts of winter.  The snow sticks around until it looks more like a pile of ashes that a pile of snow.  Not so pretty and harder to appreciate!

I texted Jim that I made batch of his "egg thingys" today and he answered that he's going to make a few batches of them while I'm down there.  That'll be good!  I can enjoy them without the trouble.  That's what I'm having for breakfast tomorrow.  If you can't come up with the recipe, let me know.  It's in my head!

I better get finished up and get myself ready to hit the haystack.  I'm getting more tired every minute!  I started the dishwasher a bit ago and I don't want to sack out until it makes it to the dry cycle.  I'd hate to get up in the morning and find out that it decided to empty the water on the kitchen floor instead of down the drain!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Don't forget to come back and share your day with us.  We miss you when you stay away!

Good morning...

More rain today, better that than snow! With the dry season coming up we will take the rain. Due to high winds and rain there are many poweroutages across this province.

Not sure what today will bring ,tis a day of rest. While out with the furkids loons were conversing across the lakes. Not sure what was said but one flew to the other one.

Better get on with the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who pops in!  I'm all dressed and ready for church.  Cathy will be by to pick me up in about 40 minutes.  I have a ride home with a friend.

I had one of my "egg thingys" for breakfast and it was goooood!  I put a couple in the Soda Shoppe Fridge.  Help yourselves.

AMY, I'm glad you didn't get any more snow.  I hope the rain will help the rhubarb!  Isn't that a song or a poem about rhubarb?  It sounded familiar after I typed it!

I better get the rest of my stuff ready to go.  I hope I can get home sometime between 11:30 and 12.  My grandson in law id doing the sermon at their church in Texas and I always like to hear him!

Have a good day Everyfriend and don't forget to share it with us.  We love hearing what your up to!

That Teddy Bear Toss is AMAZING!  I can't believe I never heard of it before.  There had to be thousands of teddys on the ice!  What lucky kids!

I had a good day today!  I got the freezer cleaned out and everything put back in and I ended up with two empty shelves.  Tomorrow, I'm going to moves some stuff out of the freezer that's attached to the fridge and fill those two shelves.  Then I'm going to finish emptying out the kitchen freezer and clean it before I put anything back in.  And I'm sure there's some stuff that won't go back in!

I hope you all had a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  We had a beautiful day until about  6 P.M. and then we got lots of wind and lots of rain.  There was "stuff" blowing all over the neighborhood!  I have some things in my yard to return to neighbors and there is some of my stuff in the neighbor's yards!  Oh well, at least nothing seems to be broken and the electricity stayed on.  Tomorrow is another day!

Sleep well. Wake refreshed and make tomorrow your own in every way.  And sneak back here and share it with us!

I had never heard of this either, and I'm guessing if the home team wins its first goal, then the bears are thrown?

Here's what the video's description stated.

Matt DiMarsico hammers home the one-time feed from Eli Sebastian to make it rain Teddy Bears. We collected over 5,610 teddy bears that will be donated to children's hospitals all over Northeastern Wisconsin. Thanks again to our presenting sponsor Fox Communities Credit Union and all of Gambler Nation who came out to support.

I also searched for another new to me, term, Hat Trick. And this is what I found.

Hat trick
noun

Three goals scored by one player in one game, as in ice hockey. Three wickets taken in cricket by a bowler in three consecutive balls. Three consecutive wins or outstanding accomplishments by the same individual, such as a jockey in horse racing.

Our Spring has disappeared and it will be summer today with the temps. up to  89 F.  Too soon for me....I think it is going to be a long, hot summer here in the South.

Jane, I wish you could stop by my house and help me clean out and organize my freezer.  I have no idea what is way back in it but I keep buying more things to portion and stuff in wherever there is a tiny hole.  I've tried making a list of the contents but I'm not good at updating the list.

My Dad was a big sports fan so I know something about most of the sports and their language.  Strangely enough, my three older brothers didn't care about any sports so I was my Dad's companion at whatever game was happening in our small town.  I even dated a college football player for awhile so went to all of those games, too.  When I was a young girl I was more of a "tom boy", to my mother's dismay.  Would rather be out playing baseball or riding my bike than playing with dolls or having a tea party.

Take care, All.

Hello Everyfriend!  I've had a busy day....a dr. appt, launry, change the bed, walk the dog, clean up after the win, pull some weeds and I forget what all!

PHYLLIS, I don't do the freezer as often as I should and now that I have two empty shelves in there, I need to do the freezer in the kitchen and it's not little.  I have a side-by-side out there so it has lots of freezer space.  I'm going to start with the middle shelf.  I made it into an extra big one and I don't like it that way so if I can take some stuff off that shelf and put it back in the other freezer, I can move the shelf to make two regular space ones.  That's what I have in mind.  I hope it works out.

I had a checkup with the dr who did the surgery on my jaw and there's NO cancer coming back!  He lengthened my visits to 6 months now instead of 4 and that makes me happy.  I really like this dr.  If all my dr. could be like him, I'd be happy!  I think he likes me, too.  I think he's young enough to be my oldest Grandson's age and I'd sure take him on!

Tomorrow afternoon I have an appointment with a new foot dr.  The numbness in my feet is moving farther into my feet as the years pass.  It hasn't bothered my walking yet but it does get numb and sometimes a bit sore.  And I get a lot of cramps in my feet.  I think the only thing that's saving my feet right now is all the walking that I do!

Your welcome for the recipe.  Let me know how it turns out.  If you don't have the big cupcake tins you could probably make it in a casserole.  Just punch down bake the taters and then punch dips in the casserole.  I've thought of trying that but I haven't tried it yet!

I'm off to hit the haystack pretty soon.  Just a couple more odd jobs to do like set up the coffee pot!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Don't forget to come by and share your day with us.  We miss you when you stay away!

Good sunny morning to you all!

Yesterday we got up to around 80o. I opened a window and the patio door for a nice breeze and to listen to all the birds chirping away, as well as to air the apartment out a little. Today it will not be quite so warm. Still, 76o is plenty warm and near record for today.

I've been relaxing more this last few days now that it is close to settlement. The cats got a new, albeit smaller, piece of cat furniture. Oscar has taken advantage of the top perch to sleep in the sun and check out what goes on outside. I wish the perch was a little bit longer. It is almost too small for him. Shan has not tried the perch; he has used the little "hovel at the base. He prefers to live dangerously (for me or him?), liking to nap just behind my chair or under the rocker.

As much as stuff as I have gotten rid of before the move, there are still more things I am finding that don't "fit" the apartment or, as it turns out, I don't need. Also, there are some things I want/need to get that make a better fit in the apartment. My current list includes a new 8" frying pan, a nightstand or the like that has a deepish drawer for odds and ends that lost their homes when I moved. a floor lamp or corner bookshelf with lamp, and a console table or buffet to fit behind the sofa.

Yesterday, I made myself a nice pot of chili using ground bison. Actually, I wanted to make barbeque, but it dawned on my that I never got the hamburger buns that I ordered last week. The grocery was out and did not substitute. So, chili is was. I have to add cumin and chili to my grocery list. I must have tossed the old cumin and I should have tossed the chili powder. I don't usually put a lot into my chili, but I added extra this time and still did not really taste it.

Also kitchen-wise, I discovered that I can indeed reach the top cabinet shelf with my little step stool. I can also manage to get my baskets up on top of the cabinets. Most of my small wicker "vases" are on top of the large cedar cabinet in the foyer. They will stay there as they look great interspersed among the fake greenery.

Good Morning Anyone and Everyone!  It's been a busy morning so far.  Cooper has arrived, had his walk and his breakfast, some loving up and now is sleeping.  I need to get a shower and get ready for another dr. appt.  This one is for my feet and it's a new dr. so I'm hoping he has some answers.  We shall see@

I don't think I'll get around to the kitchen freezer today but I'm thinking about it.  Tomorrow sounds like a possibility!  Wish me luch!

MG you're getting things done and it sounds like the kitties have made the new place home!  And it sounds like you're getting around to making it HOME, too!  Keep up the good work!

I slept with the bedroom window open last night.  And I didn't put the comforter back on the bed.  And I didn't freeze!  Spring is truly here!    Now I better get back to work or I won't be ready when Cathy comes to pick me up for the dr. appt.  I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  And don't forget to stop by for a visit with us.  We miss you when you don't come!

Good morning..

Yesterday was a busy one for me and today is also a busy one.
Pups have been fed and we have been out. Birds are waking up and singing their songs.
We are off to the city for Kyles appointment...not sure how it will go but will find out. May get rain today, in some areas they have flood warnings.

MG , good that you have found some time to relax, moving is a very taxing job.

Jane, hope all went well at the Dr.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Well, I made up my mind not to check in here until after 9 a.m. but I'm a bit early.  However, I don't have to talk to myself today.  Sooooo

Good Morning to RICK and AMY and anyone else who shows up!

Cooper is here, we had our walk and he had his breakfast.  I overslept a bit this morning (forgot to set the alarm) but I woke up in time to meet him in the driveway.

AMY I hope KYLE'S trip to the dr brings good news.  We can all use good news!

Cooking is on the agenda this morning.  I'm going to mix up a meat loaf and do a small batch of scalloped potatoes to go with it.  And I have a recip that I think I copied from our recipe file called "COOKTOP COVE" that I'm planning to try.  I'm thinking about cutting it in half.  If that doesn't work and you know this, let me know!  That means the kitchen freezer isn't getting cleaned out today!

I guess I better get started.  I wish you all a good day... better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning from a warm Interior at 8:02 and 29 degrees. Yesterday we had a high of 58 and today will hit our first plus 60 of the year. Also, yesterday, I was out early for two back to back, check in, business appointments and was glad to have them finished, at least for this quarter.

Correction: Evidently we will not hit our first sixty degrees today or manage to get out of the fifties until early May. I do hope they're wrong again.

Nothing planned for today, other than some laundry and watering my plants. I want to get a few new ones, but since it's illegal to sell any seeds or live plants not certified as grown in the state, I'll have to wait until June at least. The state is very strict about bringing in any alien animals or plant species to protect its habitat.

Probably our last local aurora shots of the seasons, taken by a local photographer.

Had a nice interuption...neighbour popped over to let the dogs out again and stayed for tea.

How much is your gas?  $3.49 for regular and much higher for the other two. Diesel is off the charts, and I feel sorry for the truckers.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe April 1 , 2024
Post by: MarsGal on April 17, 2024, 05:36:45 PM
Depends on the gas station, Joanne. I happen to be near three on one intersection. Turkey Hill was at $3.69 and Weis was $3.68 when I went by the other morning. When I came back home, Weis had raised their price to $3.69. Sheetz, catty-corner, across the street was something like $3.74. Today is is up to $3.79. Giant Food Store up the street a little is at $3.69 today. I would have thought that with all the business that Sheetz does, their gas prices would be lower. However, it could be that with all the business they do, they have to fill the underground tanks more often than the others and are the first to get stuck with higher prices.

We were supposed to get some more rain today. All I saw, felt more-like, was a few spritzes. Temp just now is at 66o.

PATRICIA, those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!  It makes me wish I could be there to see them for real!

I haven't checked the gas prices around here.  It seems when one doesn't drive, those prices don't catch the eye!  I'll have to check it the next time I'm out!

I did a lot of cooking today.  Supper was meat loaf, scalloped potatoes and baked beans and it tasted so good.  I also made up some cheesy sweet potato chunks and I have some meat put aside to do the meat recipe that I got from here!  I'll make that up tomorrow and then put together some dinners to freeze and eat while I finish getting ready for my trip.  Also have to clean out the freezer in the kitchen.

I haeady for the haystack early tonight.  I wore myself out just doing "stuff".  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  I don't have Cooper tomorrow but Frankie said she might be over to give him a bath and then leave him here while she hits the grocery store!  I'll be by in the morning!  Take care of you and yours!

Good morning..
Rain during the nighht and it is still misting rain. While out this morning Jesse put the run on another escaped chicken! I did try to catch her but she went through to the neighbours at the back and home is right beside .

Now those that made my mouth water with your delicious meal I am going to put a roast of beef  with potatoes, carrots, parsnips, onions and let it slow roast.

Tome, our gas was to go up last night by .14 - .18 cents a litre....making it 6.67 to 6.80. Will know if it did later on today. They are switiching to summer gas so they say. More like hosing those that like to take a vaction or just a drive in the country.

Jane, meatloaf sandwich with slices of this onion!! Sounds good to me. :)

Better go see if that hen made it home..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good late morning here. Had to pick my son up at the gas station - time for the annual inspection. I woke at 7:00 to the sound of a jack hammer and trucks. Seems they picked today to raise the sewer caps in prep of paving. Would have been nice if they warned us in advance.  Spring rains prevail.

Good morning everyone, 43 degrees and cloudy today and one planned for a day of rest.

Rick, hopefully they will be able to finish quickly.

Amy, both you and Jesse got your exercise in this morning! Perhaps the neighbors might want to take another look at their coop. When we visited my grandparents in Colorado, they would send me out at seven years, to gather eggs. I quickly learned to wear gloves, nasty things.

Then I would help grandpa bring the milk cans in to the still room. At seven, all my plans centered on becoming a farmer. After all, what other job offered breaks where you could swing on a fence gate, left to a cherry tree and right to a peach tree.

Jane, I hope you enjoyed your walk even without Cooper.

Now to see what is going on in the world via my computer.

By mid-morning the noise stopped. They brought a cutter/saw thing that cuts a perfect circle around the old sewer caps. No need for jack hammer. So much less noise. Interesting operation.

HELLO!  I'm heading for the haystack!  I've been moving all day.  I did the last laundry that I'm going to do (Ithink) until I come back from the west.  This morning I actually started to pack my suitcase and I packed a box of stuff that I know won't fit in the suitcase and Cathy took it to UPS to send it to Cindy and Jim.  It's a kind of pretzels and chips that we can only get here and that they really love and miss.

I folded all the clothes and added some to the pile in the extra bedroom and I'll continue packing the rest of this week and all of next week.

Frankie came over and gave Cooper a bath and then she went to the grocery store and Cooper and I took a walk.  Cathy also came and got my store list and took off for the store and brought back some stuff I needed and mailed my box to Cindy!  I'm getting there.  I even had a good supper tonight...leftover meat loaf, scalloped potatoes and beans!

Now I'm heading for the haystack!  I'm tired right down to my toe nails!  And who in the world wants to deal with tired toe nails!!  Good night Everyfriend!  I'll see you all tomorrow.  I wish you a peaceful night, nice weather and a happy tomorrow!  HAPPY SPRING!

So far no rain but they are calling for it today. We have been out a listened to the birds waking up and crow scolding me for not having his treat out.
Not sure what is going to happen today but know not all will be done.

Babe now likes her meals in bed (her bed) and now she also likes to be hand fed so I do that for her. Nothing to start your morning off than to dip your fingers into kibble, liver and cut up hearts with the juice, but it works!

Picking up a parcel at the post office and meds for Kyle today..

Rick ,hope the noice has stopped and life gets back to normal on your street.

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who pops in.

I'm up, dressed and had breakfast

Cooper arrived, took me for a walk, ate his breakfast and is sitting by the door to go out in the yard.

Our day is on the way!   AMY, it sounds like you little friend prefers "breakfast in bed".  We really do end up pmpering them, don't we.  It's so hard to see them losing energy.  But they never lose the love for their people!

I'll be adding a bit more to my suitcase today and maybe getting another box ready to mail.  I guess we shall see.  Enjoy you day.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!

Post by: patricia19 on April 19, 2024, 01:56:46 PM
Good morning, 42 degrees at nine forty and a sunny day out there. Nothing planned today other than staying in as I'm waiting on two packages for a neighbor who had an appointment today.

The snow is almost totally gone, It's reached the stage where people spread the bits out, so it melts faster. My meet and greets are fine and Farrah has taken to laying about on her back with all four paws in the air, when she's not kibble nibbling, so she's fine.

I only have watering plants and kitty litter today, so other than package wrangling, it's another lazy day.

Amy, I don't recall any cats with my Colorado grandparents, but there were several barn cats at my Missourian grandparents. Missouri was hogs and corn with a cow or two and in Colorado it was grain, milk cows, a mule, and crops. Or at least as I remember them.

Jane, you will be all ready at the end of the month for travel, I'm hoping that you and Callie get to visit this time. Does Frankie have a Cooper substitute nanny arranged?

Well I'm going to have Cooper tomorrow at 5:45 since Frankie has to be at work at 6 a.m. so I'm heading off to the haystack as soon as I finish here.

PATRICIA, she does have someone who will be coming over 2 times a day and walking Cooper.  I think it's a relative of the couple who live in the apartment downstairs from her.  She's done it before so she can be trusted.  And I think the guy sometimes takes him down to his apartment.

I got a bit more packing done today and I got some winter stuff put away and some summer stuff out of boxes and into drawers.  And I have enough dinners frozen that I'll one a day until I leave and one left over for when I come home.  And the yard guy was here for the first time this summer and we made arrangements for while I'm gone and he did the yard for the first time this summer!  It looks good!

Tomorrow is another day!  I'm heading out of here and back the hall now.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And PLEASE come by tomorrow.  We miss you all!

Greetings everyone!

The house was settled on Thursday. My sister and I are going to celebrate this weekend, and we may stop by the garden center. I may buy some new hand tools, a bag of potting soil and a few plants. I don't want to go whole-hog just yet though. On my tiny patch there is a variegated leafed Hosta and two, it looks like, mini chrysanthemums. You can bet I will be leaving some room for daffodils in the fall. The patch is mostly in the shade but is getting more sun now that the sun is up longer. The sun does not reach my porch until around 2pm. So, shade plants it is. Lots of squirrels and birds around including a woodpecker; I haven't seen it, but I hear it pecking away on or near a very tall cherry tree. Lots of sparrows and some blue jays.

I nearly had a heart attack yesterday. Looking out my back room window, I saw a large, very fluffy yellow cat walking down along the wood-line. I went scampering to see if Shan had gotten out somehow. There he was sound asleep on his favorite chair. Relief! The wood patch is between the apartments and Bethany Village. Not very wide, it is however, thick enough to act as a barrier to most lighting from that area and the sounds from the nearby highway. At some point I want to wander over to the other side of the parking lot to check out the two shrubs/trees that someone planted recently with care. They are surrounded with mulch and ringed with rocks. Whoever it was, they seem to have left a very large pot nearby. Wonder why they didn't take it with them. There is a large patch of grassy area between the curving wood-line, the parking lot and a short alleyway. Excepting for the cat and a black companion cat, I have not seen any other critters. According to the topo map there is a stream between the apartments and the highway.

Well, it looks like it is time to get some breakfast and then I have several more boxes to break down for the recycle bin and some home cleaning to do.

Wishing you all a great day.

Good morning..

We may see sun today! Rain is much needed but nice to see the sun poke through.

Need to pick up a few essentials at the grocery stroe then home to??  You know that saying the hurrier I go the behinder I get? I just try to keep the dust  kangaroos  at bay.

Babe likes to  get her breakfast and supper in her bed but now she also likes to be hand fed after she has picked out the liver and hearts out of the kibble.

Jane, did you complete all your packing?

MG,nice to have the house settled. I don't know about your housing market but ours here has gone crazy! Some homes are only on the market a few days and are sold and for BIG money!

Patricia, I think owning a mule would be fun!!

Rick ,are the street repairs all done now?

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe...

Good Morning again.  Cooper is all taken care of and he'll be staying overnight tonight.  Right now he's resting up on all his activities.

AMY, if my packing goes as usual, I'll be finished as I walk out the door and climb into the car to go to Christy's.  DIL Sarah will be driving me down and I'm not sure yet if it will be Sunday night or Monday morning.  I think she has a friend in that area and she will also do a visit.

I'm off to the nether regions of the house to see what else I can put in the suitcase.  I've just about decided what I'm wearing on the flight and that's on a hanger on the doorknob.  You all have a good day in every way!

The manhole cover job seems to be done, but it is done too well to be prep for repaving.  So the mystery remains. Yesterday morning three large Verizon trucks were parked just outside. I was sure they would start doing something, but an hour later they vanished.
To add to my fun, the night before last a package was delivered to my front porch - from Petco. I have no pets. Checked it out and it was crickets. Contacted my immediate neighbors and none claimed to have ordered them. Maybe the birds would enjoy them.

Good Saturday morning!  Remember me??  ;D

My fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis have been bothering both shoulders from my neck to my elbows and I just haven't felt like doing much.  Have managed to take care of necessities (laundry, meals, bathing etc.) but have spent most of my time in recliner either reading e-books or sleeping.

I can order groceries on-line and have them delivered.  "Favorite shopper" usually picks up my order and, although I don't know her last name and she doesn't know mine, we have become good friends.  She automatically offers to open lids of things I can't manage.

I'm not driving and sons are good about helping with errands. Sometimes I go with them and either we go through drive-up or I sit in car while they go in.
Thank goodness for texting and slow cookers!!!!

Janie, I'm not sure I'll feel like having you come over while you're here.  Surely, the weather will eventually stop bouncing from near freezing to mid-summer and I'll feel more like entertaining.  Let's keep in touch via personal messages.

Rammel, we've been told to expect an infestation of crickets and locusts this summer.  Don't think they'll be from Petco, though.  :D

Marsgal, we've had feral cats "stalking" bird feeders and messing up flower beds - mainly because a neighbor insisted on keeping her garage door cracked open so they'd have a place to sleep.  She moved and other neighbors finally caught all of them and turned them loose way out in the country. Hope they don't find their way back.

Patricia, good to read that your meet & greet bunch are still active. I understand the shrinking of group due to various aging issues.  I rarely hear from the friends that are left and I'm tired of instigating calls/texts. I consider friendship a 2-way street and, if there's no traffic coming in my direction, I just pull over and park.  Probably not a good idea but....

My pets growing up were mostly strays that wandered into our yard - not allowed in house. Never had a house pet until my kids were old enough to have a pup.
We did have a few milk cows and I learned to milk them but could never hit the cats' mouths.

That's all that's happening in my little part of the world.

Good morning, 32 degrees presently and contrary to expectations, we did hit the early sixties yesterday afternoon. My neighbor got her two packages and I watered my plants. This morning, I'm awaiting my vegetables from my Food is Medicine delivery and finished early chores and my meet and greets.

Callie, our meet and greets group, is a treasure. Since no one is driving anymore, and we've lost several due to Covid, aging and stateside moves, the remaining nine, are family and close-knit. One of the two remaining single guys, recently moved into a care facility and says he never realized how much friends meant after looking at some of the other guys in the facility.

I agree with you about the two-way street and parking.

Amy, the next time David razzes you about the weather, claim to be making plans to move in with him when future needs must.

Jane, you seem prepared, leaving no detail undone for your Oklahoma visit.

Rick, this summer is the tenth year of a ten-year citywide road improvement plan and the last overpass is due to be finished just outside our neighborhood. This means each four-lane highway through town will now have one or more overpasses, and the rivers running through town have had banks reinforced and bridges redone or refurbished and roads widened. Not to mention new utility poles, sidewalks redone and new lanes added to some roads without.

So the actual city center will be the only remaining two - lane area, and the majority of rebuilds will continue on the outskirts. This will require building up into the foothills as the only remaining side, south, has a number of river crossings.

I don't think anyone will miss all the noise, reroutes, and mess of those long summer constructions.

I'm looking about, planning to hire some part-time housekeeping, but there is a large gap between what is advertised for part-time and what I can afford to pay. Not only that, but I feel like the guy in the Burl Ives song, "Mr In between," remember that one?

The weather has taken a bad turn here!  There was a prediction of freezing over night and it was 34 when we went for our walk.  Areas that were yellow with dandelions yesterday are back to plain green today.  I hope it hasn't stopped the trees in their budding!  I still heard birdies chirping and doves cooing so I guess they're OK.

Jane, it is 32° here.

Rick ,will go check it out..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I finally broke down and put the heat back on. When I got up this morning it was only 38o out. Now it is 45o, but it isn't to get higher than around 54o.

Sue and I will be off to Hoss's in a few hours and then to the garden center. Meanwhile, I am being serenaded by Gatsby, who is my neighbor dog upstairs. The dog sitter left earlier and either didn't latch his cage or he got loose. Poor thing sounds more upset than excited about whatever he sees outside.

Now that I have had my second cup of tea, I have time to do a little more work at getting things in order, and I have to locate my dust cloth. I have to say that this place does not get super dusty like my house did. Nice.

Good morning, 36 presently this morning at 7:46 and I've gotten Farrah and myself fed and watered, meet and greets done, morning chores finished, and I've taken out the kitty litter and started my first load of wash. Now to see what you and the world are up to.

Well, I'm saying "Good Night".  I'm tired and ready for the sack!  Cooper went home to spend the night with his Mom and will be back a bit before 7 tomorrow.  At least it will be light enough then for our usual morning walk!

I'm just about finished with my packing.  I'll be ready on Sunday for sure!  I have some cleaning to do before I leave and my meals are all ready to just sit and eat.  I'm really tired tonight!  Please forgive me for not doing a better report!  And it's going to be cold again tomorrow.  I'm looking forward to the 70s and 80s in Oklahoma!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  I'll see you then!

Good Morning!  I'm just waiting for Frankie's call that she's on the way!  Then the day will be off and running.  I slept better last night than I have in a long time.....6+ hours without waking up.  That's very unusual for me!

RICK, weatherwise you're not that close to where I am.  It was down in the 30s overnight and is still only up to 33 degrees over here in Central PA.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!

Good morning..

Well Rick and Jane our weather has the fits!! Last night when taking the dogs out it was snow/rain and this morning the ground has a light covering of snow! Even the leafed out rhubarb is coverd with a white blanket...again.

Work around home today  or as Callie would say Domestic Duties  are calling me.
No yard work until it warms up , it is only 17° at the moment.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning to everyone. The sun is out and around 45° - nice for this time of day. We are fairly close to water, so I think that helps keep us a bit warmer - on those suddenly chilly nights.
One of my three azaleas is in full bloom. The other two, a different variety, have not started yet.

Good morning, Jane, we have the same temperatures. Overnight in the thirties and only 34 at 7:48. Daytime highs range in the late fifties to early sixties and sunny. Our snow, at least in the city, has melted and gone. If it wasn't for the increasing light, I'd think it was closer to early March than late April.

It's nice to have everything ready to go and most preparations finished, isn't it? You're going to enjoy Oklahoma and seeing family!

Rick, you seem to be having the best temperatures of the group and the azaleas already blooming! We won't see that until Memorial Day.

Amy, I'm so sorry about your weather. Nothing, weather wise, has gone as expected for the past few years. Hopefully, your rhubarb and your weather, will flourish in the next few days.

The dogwoods and red-bud trees are in bloom. We are getting a frost advisory for tonight. Meanwhile, the pollen levels are in the red here.

I got my tooth out this morning and the bone graft in. Came home, get the dishes done, and then went out to get my prescriptions and a few other items, then got my car gassed up. In addition to the prescriptions, I have been told to take Tylenol and Motrin alternately. Now I think I will go relax on the sofa.

Well, I can't believe our temps are running in the area as those in Alaska!  That's really wierd!  We're going into the mid 30s overnight tonight but up into the 50s tomorrow.  That's more normal for this time of year. although the 30s are a bit low for April!

MG, you take care of your mouth!  That's one place that we need to have in a useful manner!  It sounds like you're doing just that!  I hope all's well!

I'm just about packed and my plan is to pretty much finish it on Thursday.  Frankie is off and I won't have Cooper so I'll just keep at it until I finish.  DIL Sarah called me today and they are taking me down to Christy's in Frederick, MD late afternoon on Sunday and out to celebrate my birthday on Saturday night!  Sounds like plans are in place!

Cindy called from OK today to say she's ready for my arrival!  We're looking forward to seeing each other and I'm looking forward to seeing the little kids.  Emma (my 6 year old great granddaghter) texted me on her mom's phone to say, "Hurry up and get here!"  I need a hug!"  I told her I need at least 3 hugs from her and 3 from each of her brothers!

I'm off to the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!  We'll miss you if you don't stop by!

Good morning...

Morning chores have been done. While out we listened to a chorus of birds, watches as two loons flew towards the big lake, turned around flew overhead while calling out. They were low enough we meaning dogs and I could hear the wind in their wings.

Possibility of more snow today I do hope they are wrong and it comes in the form of rain. Grass is starting to get green and next month we will be cutting it.

Rick, any chance of getting some photos of the azaleas? Would love to see them.

Patricia,we are at 37° at the moment with wispy clouds in a beautiful blue sky.

MG....now you can relax in your new home.

Better get on with my day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

RICK, the flowers are gorgeous!  My tree is in bloom and I've got daffodils.  Everyone around here has a yard full of dandelions.

Yesterday, Frankie dropped off 4 big potatoes that she was afraid were going to spoil.  I think she still had some time but I cooked them this morning!  Maybe she'll take some of the cooked ones home with her to have for supper.  We'll see!

I don't have Cooper tomorrow so my plan is to finish my packing and maybe do a load of laundry!  Whatever comes up will get done!

Cathy is leaving for Texas for a visit with her daughter and SIL and then will join us in OKla.  She'll be traveling home with Christy who is going there with me.  All the plans are made.  I just have to get the packing done, get dressed and ready to go Sunday afternoon!

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Wow, Rick as Jane said that is just gorgeous! What a lovely burst of colour after all the dreary colours.

Just in for a cuppa tea  and will soon go back out to cut out lilac suckers and thin the tree out. Using Kyle's reciprocating saw and it is doing a fine job.

Rick I was going to ask if the flowers smell but thought better of it.if I said that to Kyle he would say no, they don't have a nose. So I will ask do they have a scent?  Did you feed your robin?

Good morning, cloudy and 39 at 9:26, and we're expecting a high in the late fifties to early sixties.

Rick, I thought azaleas were white, so I checked, and the only hardy one is Alaska Azalea.

Azalea indica 'Alaska' (Rutherfordiana hybrid). You have some beautiful shrubs.

Jane, it sounds as if you can afford to take it easy until Sunday, but somehow I doubt you will.  AccuWeather says the Midwest is due for another round of snow and punishing storms, so you might want to be prepared, as they mentioned Oklahoma City.

Amy, I was warned a long time ago to stay away from electrical items and sharp objects as my talents definitely lay elsewhere, but my sister has the same DIY abilities and interests.

Now, I'm off to see what else is happening today.

I've never noticed a scent from the azaleas. Also not likely to stick my nose down too close - there's enough loose pollen in the air already (sneeze, sneeze, sneeze).
I have Privet Hedges and when they "flower" the smell in the evening is strong. A very sweet smell.

The azaleas around here are in many different colors - white, but mostly in the red's

Robin gets fed regularly. One comes right up to the window sill in the back, and as I put out raisins, it eats them. Very close encounter. Also have a visiting pair of cardinals.

We only have the one variety, and it's a hybrid, I understand it's the result of multiple attempts to grow Alaskan azaleas.

I'm heading for the haystack pretty soon!  I have a couple of things to deal with and then I'll go down for the count.  I got a lot done today and tomorrow I don't have Cooper but I will be having lunch with some of the people I used to work with in the office at Pennsylvania House Furniture.  We get together about once a month and there will be anywhere from 8 to 20 of us there.  I enjoy keeping these friendships!

I got most of my stuff packed today.  The only stuff I still have to pack is my daily bathroom stuff and my computer and a couple odds and ends.  I think I just might be ready on time!

I wish I could get the birdies to come close enough to eat from my window sill.  I never thought of raisins.  Maybe I'll pick up a bag and give it a try!I do have a couple nests in the rafters on my back porch!  Maybe I can tempt them.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Make the day your own in every way!  And share it with us.  We miss you when you don't stop by!

Good morning..

We were met with ice/snow pellets when we went out! Did Spring take a vacation??

Managed to do a lot of brushing yesterday and will take it to the dump on Fri or Sat.

Jane watch where you place the raisins as dogs shouldn't get them.Found this  for you.

When dogs eat grapes of any kind and in any form, they are at risk of kidney (renal) failure. All types of grapes, whether cooked, seedless, peeled, dried, or fresh, are toxic to dogs, even in small amounts. You should also avoid giving your dog any grape products such as raisins, juices, jelly, or jam.

Enjoy your time out with your friends.

Patricia, is all your snow gone now?

Rick, thank you for posting photos of your azaleas. I am going to check and see if they can be grown in our zone.

Enjoy your day everyone and stay safe.

Good late morning, I'm only now getting to the computer and S&F, it's been a busy and late start to the day.

Amy, I haven't been out the past few days but from what I see from my balcony, all the snow is gone. It's sunny, fifty degrees out, and we're expecting a high in the sixties.

Grapes and grape by-products are also toxic to cats. "It's well-known that grapes and raisins are toxic to dogs, but did you know that grapes are also not safe for cats, (and ferrets too); to eat either? We don't know why grapes are poisonous to pets, but the risks they pose, including kidney failure, are serious."

"According to the Merck Veterinary Manual, the majority of dogs with grape or raisin toxicosis experience vomiting or diarrhea within six to twelve hours of eating the fruit. Other clinical signs include lethargy, loss of appetite, increased thirst, stomach pain, weakness, dehydration, and tremors. Kidney failure develops within three days. In some cases, the kidneys shut down and stop producing urine. Most dogs who reach this point don't survive."

Another paradoxical fact is that the most common food allergen for both cats and dogs is chicken and chicken byproducts, yet the most common canine and feline cat food ingredient is chicken.

Both Trumpeter and Tundra swans have been sighted, a sure sign that spring has finally arrived here. No sign so far of the Whooper swan, also known as the Common Swan.

Also, I just read about the first wild siting of Dall sheep calves and Native ranchers report new reindeer calves.

Well, with everything you all said about the raisins, I might have to give it a bit more thought!  I'm thinking right now that the top of the outside A/C might be a good place to put them but then I'm also thinking that the squirrels can probably get up on there.  Of course, if I stood there and watched for them to come, the animals might not even try to get up on the A/C.  I'll have to give this some more thought!  Thanks for all the info!

Lunch with my friends was nice!  We all have some of the same memories and we share them and something new always seems to come up!  And we all talk about our families, too!  My SIL Craig used to work in the office there, too and they all knew him.  So I shared the pictures of Kyle's wedding with them and they loved hearing about that.  Some of them remembered when Kyle was born so his wedding was special to them!

I think I'm pretty much packed now.  About the only things I still have to pack with go in my carry on bag... like bathroom stuff and shampoo and my eye drops.

After Saturday, I won't be on here until I get to Cindy's and get set up!  I'll have to pack my computer on Sat and I'll be off until Wed. the next week.  I'll be able to read but not send from my phone!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way.  And don't forget to stop by and share it with us.  We'll miss you if you stay away!

Huh! Had a little trouble getting in today. Seems okay now.

Another cool day. We are expecting the repaving guys here today and tomorrow to resurface the entrance lane into the apartments. I don't believe they will be doing the parking lots.

We had a surprise downpour about mid-day yesterday and then it remained cloudy for most of the afternoon. It is 40o now, to get to 60o this afternoon.

On today's agenda is to start putting together a big shelving unit that arrived day before yesterday and look for a shorter file cabinet or nightstand. The one I picked out fits my criteria but won't suit Oscar. He has been using the boxes I have now to get to the top of his new perch rather than using the lower parts of the new cat furniture. What is nice is that he is using both the perch and the little "hovel" at floor level, and he doesn't seem to have to share either with Shan, who doesn't seem to have much interest in it.

I had trouble getting in here late last night. It worked, but very slow.
Nice morning here. The TelCo guys are back trying to set a new pole. They seem to be having a problem with rock in the ground. This area is fairly rich in granite, so I wish them well in their efforts. I've noticed my FIOS "wire" is hanging very low so if I vanish, that will likely be the cause.

Jane,  "9 HOURS AND NOT A SINGLE POST!" - There are so few of us left it doesn't surprise me there are long gaps. Everyone, tell your friends about us. We need new old people - or friends.

Good morning, forty degrees and sunny out there with no greenery yet, but birds are returning to the area and to the wildlife sanctuary, so people are heading out to get their avian fix.

It's very slow today on the computer, glad it's the site and not my computer.

Amy, we are lucky to have the Wildlife sanctuary so close, that a narrow finger lies within our city limits. It's breathtaking to see the huge flights come in, circling in smaller and smaller circles until landing. Each spring, workers spread tons of seed onto the public viewing area fields. The various birds will stop over to feed before moving further back into the refuge.

Jane, I know I'm sleeping, you posted at 2:22 AM my time!

Rick, I've given up on trying to get my friends to stop by here. They're simply not interested in social media, using computers only to deal with various official papers, email or play games. I've been cautioned a number of times about talking too much about them online.

Hello!  Actually, PATRICiA!  My last REAL post was at 5 p.m. your time.  You are referring to the time I came back to check posts after my real one and no one had been in.

I need to inform you all that I will be packing my computer on Sunday Morning.  I'll try to say Good Morning but I'm not making any promises.  I have to be ready to leave when my son and DIL are ready to take me.  I'm hoping for around 4 p.m. Sunday but it could be earlier.  So my plan is to be packed by noon on Sunday!  And I don't have a lot of time on Saturday because Son and DIL want to take me out for dinner on Saturday since it's my birthday.

RICK, I hope the working guys don't bother your computer!  We'll miss you if you can't come by!

MG, it sounds like your kitties are making themselves at home in your new place.  I guess it doesn't take them long to do that.  I don't think I could do it so easy any more!

OK, I'll give you time to sleep!  I didn't think 9 p.m was so early for most of us!  But I guess it's getting earlier and earlier for me.  I turn off the TV around 8 p.m and I know my Gramma used to watch the news before she shut down.  But I also know she used to watch TV with her eyes closed a lot of the time and she wasn't as old as I am when we lost her!

Now I'm going to check out what's in the dinner I took out of the freezer.  Not going to eat until around 6 but If I know what it is, I can anticipate!  I wish you all a good rest of the day and a restful night.  Come back and check us out tomorrow.  I'll still be around tomorrow.  And I'll miss you if you don't show!

I don't think I am fully awake yet. I didn't go to bed until late last night, got up at 4:30am to feed the very insistent cats, fell back asleep on the sofa until 7am. It is promising to be a nice sunny day today and tomorrow at least.

Yesterday I got the frames for my new shelving unit together. Today I need to tighten the screws and then screw the shelves in place. I went and ordered a small nightstand to put next to the cat tree. It has a much needed drawer and a shelf, and it will replace a cardboard box of books and small storage box that Oscar is using to get up on the  perch. Funny guy. He used that to get up and jumps down on the opposite side using the perch halfway down the post.

The road guys were out yesterday repaving our lane back to the apartments. It looks like they are done, even their heavy equipment is gone.

This weekend I plan on getting back to going through old papers, shredding the oldest and pulling pertinent info in preparation to get an estimate of what I may have to pay income taxes for the house sale for this year. It shouldn't be much, but I do want to estimate and pay ahead the income tax forms next year. Also, Sue wants to do some furniture shopping in Sunday, so we are doing lunch at Lin's for their Chinese buffet.

Okay, tea is done. Now I think I am awake enough to start the day's activities.

MarsGal - You're going to take a cardboard box away from a cat? Good luck. -- Just kidding, but when I had a cat he loved cardboard boxes and paper bags.
Your heavy equipment paving stuff may have  made it here. Large Black Top truck is at the corner fuming up the area. We've been under a "No Parking" warning for a week - for paving purposes. Noticed this morning they have extended that till the 30th.

We're sunny and plus 45 this Friday morning at 7:54. Farrah's fed, coffee on and meet and greets, plus morning chores are done for the day.

Farrah has been ignoring her perches since I've started opening the bedroom blinds again. She lies on the bed's end all cozy with a straight view to the outdoors, and she's now claiming the other end of the couch, closer to the living room sliders. I may simply get rid of the two cat trees, someone will claim them downstairs.

MG, it sounds as if you're joining Jane and Amy for the busy women's group, while Rick is seeing the last of the pavers.

The city is trying something new, discouraging street parking, and encouraging the use of driveways and parking lots. I've heard other parts of the state are doing the same.

Nothing scheduled other than those until a week from now, so I'm off to see what the world's been up to.

A truck and a big machine just went by, taking about two inches off the top of the street. Amazing what these things can do.  I guess they recycle the old blacktop.

Not to worry, Patricia. They have plenty of empty cardboard boxes. Chewy is even so kind as to pack stuff with strips of craft paper or thin corrugated cardboard as separators. The corrugated cardboard, if put on a rug so it doesn't move around too much is a hit, as is the craft paper, running jumps, dives after tossed toys, etc. Do you remember when we had fun as kids jumping into a pile of raked leaves? This must be the cat version.

Pet Pride, the organization I foster for, had a great idea. The red, black or other colored interlocking gym flooring? Cats love it to sleep on, play on or scratch their nails on.

Hello  Everyfriend!  It's nice to see all of you poke in and drop info for the rest of us.  You make us feel smart when we talk to people who don't come on here!

I'm almost all packed and I'm thinking that I might just pack the computer sometime tomorrow.  I'll try to check you out in the morning and then maybe pack the computer late in the day.  That way I can actually finish up the big suitcase and maybe even the little one.  That would just leave my overnight stuff to go to Christy's and be ready for the flight.

Tomorrow, I'm going out to dinner with son, Phil and DIL Sarah and with my Granddaughter, Frankie who is Cooper's "Mom"!  I don't know where we're going,  They started asking me and I hardly ever go out so I just said "surprise me".

I'm really tired tonight so I'm heading for the haystack.  Cooper won't be coming tomorrow but I'm still planning an early start!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Make the day your own but don't forget to share it with us!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special Good Morning to you, RICK!  Thank you for the good wishes for my trip.

I've decided that I'm going to come home from dinner with my family, check out what's on the computer and then pack it up!  Today is a big day in my life!  I don't feel like there have been so many years past!

I better get this day started.  I just finished my breakfast and I need to get out and do my walk before everything hits!  I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Patricia, I had a pack of those interlocking mats. They were indeed cat attracters. I was going to put link them together to make an exercise mat. The cats had other ideas.

Looks like we are in for some rain today. I liked the forecast they gave yesterday morning better. Sunny! Hah! What sun?

Got my shelving together and in place. Oscar has already inspected it, jumped into one of the level two cubicles, and tried to figure out how to jump up to level three without success--so far. I will start populating the shelf with books and non-breakables on the open tops. The shelving has three tiers. I expect it won't be long until Oscar, who is much more interested in climbing than Shan, finds a way up the  "step-ladder" to the top level. Therefore, no non-breakables on those open levels.

I need to get to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription, so might just stop in the grocery store for a few things. Giant has discontinued it's Giant Direct/Peapod service in this area. What they are replacing it with are the Instacart people. As best as I can tell, I still order online as usual. They will have people in store to pick and pack, then it is given to a third party to deliver. This arrangement has eliminated the distribution warehouse (as the stuff will be packed at the local grocery stores instead), the delivery drivers and, I assume, the trucks, leaving it to part-timers using their own vehicles to deliver. I've used Instacart before. It is not my preference unless I would need something in a hurry. With Giant, Weis, and Aldi's so close by. I don't much have an interest in continuing with Instacart. And, the question is, what about the months left in the annual membership I paid for upfront? Giant's lack of communication to its Giant Direct customers regarding these changes here has been very poor.

Good morning...

We are to have rain today..that's ok.

Busy day yesterday , loaded all the limbs into the van to take to the dump. Then picked up meds and then onto the hardware store where I bought a chainsaw , a little electric one. Tried it out and it works great!

Jane, enjoy your time away with your family and give all those great grands a hug or millions of them!!

Rick, this is the chain saw.not one to lay down big trees but perfect for the limbing. Thank you for the idea. Best part of this one it was on sale!!  You know ladies can't pass up a good sale!

Since I am behind I better stop and get the day going.. (slept in)

I just got off the phone with daughter, Christy who will be travelling with me and she told me not to pack my computer in the suitcase that will be checked.  She said to just bring it along and it will fit in her carry-on.  So now I'm going in and finish that suitcase and close it up ready to travel.

AMY, thank you for the birthday wishes!  I don't feel a day older and thank goodness for that!

I better get moving or I won't be ready when they come to get me for dinner out.  Have a great day Everyone!

Thank you all for the good wishes bot for my birthday and for my travels!  I can't wait to make friends with my newest Great Grandson and to visit with the other GGS and my GGD.  She started kindergarten this year and I want to find out in person what she thinks of it.

I have my big suitcase packed, zipped, weighed and ready to go.  And my travel clothes are in a bag hanging next to it.  Odds and ends are going into the other suitcase and my computer is going in Christy's carry on.  She didn't like the idea of putting it in a suitcase that could get lost so she's going to carry it.  She said she doesn't have much to carry!

The fridge is all cleaned out!  The only stuff left in there is dog treats for when Frankie and Cooper stay here and some stuff that won't spoil.  I'm almost ready to go.  Right now, I have to go get a shower and get ready to go out to supper with my Son and DIL and Frankie to celebrate my birthday.  I told them the only thing I really celebrate on my birthdays any more is getting out of bed in the morning and facing the day!

I hope you are all having a good day.  I'll check in tonight and tomorrow before I pack the computer!  It's sprinkling here but supposed to stop sometime during the next hour.  The roads are wet but no big puddles like the last time!  Bye until later!  I'm not sure when later will be!

We are having a good downpour here and  looks like it will be  around until Tue. Grass will really take on a growth spurt and bugs will not only looking food over  (us) but will be chowing down :(

Forest fires have already started out west. Saw the devastation of the tornado in Nebraska , one minute the houses are there and gone in the next minute....so sad.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This is my last post for a bit.  I might be able to hook up at Christy's but I don't know that yet.  We will be leaving here at 1 p.m. today and Philip and Christy will have a nice visit.  It's a 2 and a half hour drive to Christy's and they will be staying there for an early supper.  Philip and Christy are the twins and they take any opportunity for a visit that comes their way.  That's something special about twins.  They've always been that way.  When they were in first grade they put them in separate rooms and when they started second grade they both went in on the first day and asked if they could be in the same home room.  And that;s the way it was the rest of their school years.  I don't understand it but I love it!

Now I'm off to finish the packing and the cleaning up after.  My special cleaning lady will be here while I'm gone!  Frankie is going to do floors and wash windows and anything else she sees that needs done while I'm gone!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Make it your best!

Talked with a few people that said they had a terrible storm last night! One lives the other side of town and the other further out.
I didn't think I slept through it so  phoned and asked the neighbour and they said no storm here.

Patricia, I would love to have that "eye" but also the energy to do so!

I did put out the picnic table on the veranda along with chairs and umbrella..that is one less job to do.

Good morning...

Here is one for you Rick. Rain before 7 ,quits by 11. Rain started around 5:15 this morning, gentle rain so far..
Working around home and hope to put more blocks together in the quilt.

Tome, all I know is to click on the half moon up top and it goes to a sun and light pages. Rick may be able to help you more when he is here.

Rick, that is one of the shows I really enjoy. Interesting to see what makes them excited...a button.....a nail..but it is the age of them! Plus Gary's top pocket finds :)

Callie, you ok? Heard you had tornados your way??

The sooner I get at the chores the sooner I can sew.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Merry Monday.  Saturday tornados were all around me but none came through my area or areas where family lives..  All local TV channels continually broadcast weather from mid-morning until well after midnight.  It was awful!

Today is lovely so son and I are going to get plants for my "pot garden"...if my eyes aren't too dilated after ophthalmologist appointment.

Enjoy the day, Everyfrend  :smitten: !

Thank you Rick, I wasn't sure and I knew you would know for certain.

Must admit I am glad the day is on the way out! Managed to get dogs an appointment at the vet, Jesse gets put under to get his nails done and Babe isn't too bad  ( I hope). In the mean time Kyle took a spill, took some bark off his elbow when he hit the cement walkway.....going to wrap him up in bubble wrap too!!! Tried to get a late appointment changed and said no to another one that was also late in the day. They don't realize we have an hour and a half drive just to get there..and we have furkids to deal with.

The rain did quit by 11 am .

Callie happy to read all is well there..

Amy, all is well in my area but a big part of central Oklahoma going from Red River northeast to beyond Tulsa area has severe damage.
Several towns are almost completely destroyed.
Local tv stations' radars don't reach to where Jane will be (125 miles or so east of me) so I'm not sure how much damage is in that area and OKC paper hasn't said.

My eyes were too dilated to get plants so son is coming back tomorrow to get them.  I've napped in recliner almost all afternoon.

So glad to see that Callie in OK is okay!  Sorry about Kyle's spill.
The rain seems to be going on forever, with a few days or hours in between, but not long enough to get the lawn mowed.  It will be raining here several days into next week. If my lawn guy can get here early tomorrow (tuesday is his regular day) I will be good for maybe a couple of weeks.  He wants to do weekly, but I'm on a fixed income, and can't do that.  I want to get a battery operated lawnmower and do it myself, but daughter kinda forbids that, like she does on my getting on a 2 step, stepladder.  Hope JaneS is able to get to her destination in OK safely. Amy keep up the good work on the quilts. and the good cooking and all the things you do on a regular basis. Pets, caregiver, lawn/yard maintenance, etc. etc.  I get worn out just reading your posts and those of Jane, she is a whirlwind too!

Callie , news said there were 4 deaths from the tornado.I can't  imagine the devistation done in the blink of a eye.

Tome, there are, for want of a better word computer driven lawnmowers but they cost an arm,leg and first born! Would there be a young boy or girl that would cut your grass?

Time to take the dogs out

Enjoy your evening

Just started to rain while we were out,14 geese flew over low enough I could hear the wind in their wings.

Odd jobs are being done today, ones that got pushed aside  but need to now be done. One is to make pastry so I can make buttertarts for friends. While at Timmies yesrterday a friend bought two Smile cookies and gave them to us! I know she just loves buttertarts and will give her some.

Janie, if you are peeking in.....good morning to you and your family. I forgot to ask you the other day please send photos so we can also enjoy your trip.

Patricia, our weather is to be milder by the weekend, until then it is damp and gray. Rhubarb is loving the rain though.

A late good morning to all - almost lunch time.  Not bad out today, but it smells. New asphalt down a while ago. We now have a nice new road - but still smelly. Quiet now - all the heave machinery is gone.
