How do I love thee?
Elizabeth Barrett Browning

How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.
I love thee to the depth and breadth and height
My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight
For the ends of Being and ideal Grace.
I love thee to the level of every day's
Most quiet need, by sun and candlelight.
I love thee freely, as men strive for Right;
I love thee purely, as they turn from Praise.
I love with a passion put to use
In my old griefs, and with my childhood's faith.
I love thee with a love I seemed to lose
With my lost saints,—I love thee with the breath,
Smiles, tears, of all my life!—and, if God choose,
I shall  but love thee better after death.

"Love Is Enough" by William Morris

Love is enough: though the world be a-waning,
And the woods have no voice but the voice of complaining,
Though the skies be too dark for dim eyes to discover
The gold-cups and daisies fair blooming thereunder,
Though the hills be held shadows, and the sea a dark wonder,
And this day draw a veil over all deeds passed over,
Yet their hands shall not tremble, their feet shall not falter:
The void shall not weary, the fear shall not alter
These lips and these eyes of the loved and the lover.

Good morning..

Misty rain out this morning and I sure hope the temp doesn't drop to make a freezing mess out there. We are on the way to the city, Kyle has two appointments and in between these I am dropping off jars of mustard to a friend. Cute story about that mustard but no time to tell at the moment.

Better go get my city duds on.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Well, if it's February already, I missed tw birthdays and February is FULL of birthdays! June must be a busy month in my family!  Even the married-in ones are celebrating in February.  And now Kyle is adding a Wedding celebration!

I'm watching the sky light up so Cooper and I can take our first walk of the day!  He thinks we should just head out right after he eats but I have to wait until I can see where we're going!

BUBBLE, you outdid yourself.  I remember the poetry and it takes me back to my school days!  My English teacher in 9th and 10th grade was a fan of the early poets and writers and she installed it in me!

I think the sky is lighting!  I'll be back later!  Enjoy your day Everyfriend and share it with the rest of us!

I'm sorry I wasn't back in here earlier.  I had one heck of a busy day!  Cathy and I went to the Amish grocery store and that's in the next town over (about 10 miles).  Then when we came home, she stuffed her frozen stuff in my freezer and waited for me to do my eye drops and we went to WM.  I got all the stuff that I've been missing for about two weeks.

Then Cathy dropped me off and headed for home.  She must have been almost there when I realized that she hadn't got her stuff out of the freezer.  I texted her and she answered that there wasn't anything that she needed today so she'd come back and pick it up tomorrow.

I had my lunch, finished reading the paper and did the crossword puzzle.  Then I emptied all my waste baskets and put the garbage can  out for collection.  I got Ggrandson Cam's birthday card ready to put in the mail box for pickup tomorrow.

I did some cleaning up and putting away and a lot of eye drops all day.  And now I'm ready to hit the haystack!  I have to be up early to meet Cooper in the morning!  Also, tomorrow will be laundry day and more eye drops.

RICK, I loved the song!

I wish Everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a happy day tomorrow.  I promise I'll be back!  You all come too!

Good morning

Yesterday was a long day...one I don't wish to repeat! Dr. checking Kyle out in a year. Dropped off mustard and head to another appointment. We were glad to be home to do a lot of nothing.

Today is make arrangements on getting a quilt to a 12 yr old, she has already started chemo and I pray she doesn't follow in her granpas footsteps. He had exhausted all treatment here and in the US  only to have MAID at the age of 52.

Jane,happy birthday to Cam!!

Patricia, still in the -40's?

Rick I also like that song.....anything by the Everly brothers!

MG, how many days till moving day?

Better get this day rolling..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning, AMY!"  It sounds like your day was as busy as mine yesterday.  It came up bedtime and I wondered where the day had gone!

Cooper is here and he's lying on the floor where he can see the sky out the window.  He's waiting for it to be light enough to go for a walk.  And I need to go get dressed before we can go.  I think I have just about enough time to do that.  So I'll bid you all good day!  Make it your own in every way and come by and share it with friends.

I must admit that I forgot to call LLOYD'S granddaughter last night.  It's on my agenda for today!  If I get through to her, I'll let you all know!

Good morning, minus 48 with dense ice fog again this morning. Temperatures won't begin to moderate until Sunday or Monday. Nothing new here, same meet and greets, same chores and upkeep. Everyone is staying home if they can and staying warm.

We haven't had one of these severe, lengthy cold spells since the seventies or eighties.

Meanwhile, Anchorage across the mountains is digging themselves out of a one hundred inch total snowfall, so heavy it weighs thirty pounds per square inch. The earliest 100 inch total arrival on record.

HEY!   I just got off the phone with LLOYD and NANCY's granddaughter.  We had a very nice conversation!  She said that she doesn't know why he hasn't been on with us lately and when I told her that the website had made some changes she said that was probably why.  She also said that he's been doing a lot of dozing and that Nancy is still favoring her leg that got hurt when she fell about a month ago.  She said she'd check things out with them and see if she can get LLOYD back on line and that if we had made changes that was probably why he wasn't on!

I thought we had a very nice conversation and I'm sure she's going to look into things.  She was amazed that we had her phone number but I think she was glad we did!  And I think she was glad that people so far away are concerned about her family.

Now I'm going to give in to the tireds and get ready for bed.  I won't have Cooper tomorrow.  Frankie is off the weekend and they're heading for Maryland for a visit with her mother!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Come by and share it with us!

Good morning..

There is a possibility  we may see the sun today! Domestic duties are calling and I hope I can hang laundry out today.

Yesterday I put out some chunks of suet  and I heard him before he flew in to feast. Gronk  (raven) came down to pick out the choice pieces and fly away with them. Nice to see him , now if the crows would visit.

Better get the day started ,just maybe I will have time later to get some sewing done.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up for a bit, had breakfast, got dressed, took a walk and brought the paper in!  I have one more load of laundry to do today and then nothing until I decide it's time to change the bed.  Christy will be here in a couple of days and I'm hoping the bed can wait until she's here.  I want to flip the mattress and I need help.  I used to be able to do it by myself but not any more!

AMY, I hope we hear from LLOYD soon, too!  And I hope NANCY'S leg soon feels better!

MG. Happy Moving Day!  I think you're on my side of the Susquehanna now and that when you move, you'll be on the other side closer to your ?sister?

I better get started on the chores.  The sun is shining brightly out there...in fact, when I took my walk, it blinded me...even with sunglasses on!

I wish you all a good day.  Come by and share it with us!

Beautiful sunny day now and I hope that red sky earlier doesn't amount to much.

Think we will have chop suey for supper, something different. Picked up bean sprouts and mushrooms this morning ,have everything else so it is good to go.
Strawberries for dessert .

We will have strawberries next week, after Papa Spuds delivers them on Tuesday.
The imported berries aren't as good as our local ones grown in the field but the tunnel grown local berries are pretty good and make a good substitute.

Cold here this morning but a nice sun is shining here, also. At least it isn't rain or snow....yet.  Rain coming next week, so they say.

Take care, All.

Good morning, it's minus 49 presently with dense ice fog and I have to go out to pay bills and pick up a few items. I imagine that the taxi wait times will be horrible, but I've put it off long enough. I'll wait until afternoon to see if some of that fog dissipates. I may wait until Sunday, as the latest weather report now says it may begin a slow warm-up.

That's right, Amy.  Cheaper and easier to put up instead of the old glass greenhouses.  They use a heavy weight plastic stretched over metal ribs.  They can even install propane heaters in case the temp turns freezing.  They are a common sight  on local farms......big and small.

I have to go get things done so I'll be ready when Cathy comes to pick me up for church later this morning!   I'll try to get back in to check up on LLOYD and anyone else who shows up!

Good morning...

A day of welcomed rest here. Yesterday was beautiful, it did start out cold but warmed up to you could go out without a coat on. I think we will pay dearly for this nice weather, east coats is getting more that 3 feet of snow!

Raven and I think some Blue Jays cleaned up on the suet so I will get more for them later on.

Only thing happening is a man coming to see the van and there are two more  waiting if he doesn't buy it.

Neighbour has been going up to the sugar bush,  no sap running yet but it won't be long.He always gives us a bottle of fresh syrup and that spurs me to make cornbread muffins or johnny cake to go with it.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Nice day here to do nothing - after a rough yesterday. Yesterday we had a power failure for a couple of hours, then spent that much time setting clocks and initializing things. Got a COVID shot, and ordered a new (probably rebuilt) cable box, that died when power was restored. We are now discovering all the stuff that is available on "over the air" TV. Also a great opportunity to get those dust bunnies out from behind the "electronics".

Rick, trade you dust bunnies for our dust kangaroos!!! One dog is really losing her fur , could Spring be close??? Sent you a PM.

On the way into town this morning I saw movement out of the corner of my eyes...slowed down then braked when a doe came out and stood in front of us. Could have had fresh venison if I hadn't of caught the movement!

Another lovely day here..

Be very careful of deer on the road. A guy that worked for me was going home after an evening shift (Dark out). Hit a deer, and took the top off his car. Luckily no one was hurt --- except the deer. But it totaled his car.

Amy - Our dust bunnies are light. They multiply and hide well. I think they form gangs.

Good afternoon from the Interior. I'm back fully stocked again and all monthly bills good for another month. I was telling Amy that it had risen from minus 50 last night to minus nineteen at eleven. My taxi driver said it had been minus 44 when he started his shift that morning, and it was minus nineteen still at one thirty. I just called time and temperature at four forty, and it was minus eight. I hope it stays warm at least long enough to enjoy it.

Farrah is a very picky eater, even for a cat. I used to keep a cup of dry food in her bowl and feed her wet canned food in the morning. It would take her four days to eat a five ounce can. And she expected treats too!

So, last month I didn't buy any wet and the first few mornings were confusing for her. She watched me like a hawk every time I went close to the cupboard and would get excited if I came home with a bag, only to, again, be disappointed.

This afternoon, I returned with a couple of single serve cat food pouches to hold her over until Tuesday's canned delivery. She was sniffing those bags as I carried them in and watching me to see if her food was back. When I raised my finger in the universal "wait" position, I thought she was going to have a coronary.

She hovered over me as I put the food in her dish and dug in. Each time I went to see if there were any leftovers to refrigerate, she was right there before me, guarding her dish. She ate the entire five ounces. Now to see if she feels the same when she knows there's a regular supply of canned to go with her daily dry.

Hey, exitement is where you find it.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I didn't even stop in here last night to say "Good Night".  I had the TV on and my eyes gave up and went shut tight.  When I woke up, "Perry Mason" was on and I thought I might have slept a few minutes.  When I looked at the clock, I found I'd bee asleep through almost two hour long shows and it was after 11 o'clock.  I dragged myself around to turn off the lights and I hit the haystack!  And here I am this morning.  Cooper will be arriving any minute!  And he'll be hungry and after he eats, he'll be ready for a walk.  My day begins!

PATRICIA, I don't think I'd make it through a winter in your part of Alaska!  When it gets into the single low digits around here, I start praying for Spring!  I think, if I had to live through a winter like yours, I'd hibernate like the bears do and just come out in the Spring!

I better get myself ready for company.  Frankie drops him off around 6:45 and it's 6:42 on my clock.  I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!  And come join us for a chat!

Good morning..

I am not going to complain about our dip in the temperature!! After reading Paricia's post and the frigid temps she is dealing with I will just enjoy ours.

Today is another busy day with hopes of getting all accomplished ..maybe. Kyle has blood workand if the Dad is cutting hair and not the son he will try again to get it cut. I need to turn in plates from vehicle and go to the bank. Then we are taking garbage away to the dump. Before all that can be done our friends are dropping in to pick up the wheelchair to use.

Patricia, I had to laugh at Farrah's action at your grocery outing. Just like a child inquiring to a Mom did you bring me anything back from the store?? I am not sure what is happening to Callie next door, usually she will greet you but lately owner says Callie is sleeping a lot. I know she is up in age so maybe that is what's wrong.

Better get this day on the road..

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Bright, sunny, and cold. It will warm a bit and it looks like a nice day here.  Have lots of chores on the list for today - if I can keep up with them. Most important is replace  the FIOS Set Top Box when it gets here. The old one died Saturday in a power failure. It just never came back to life. Good morning, it's 10:20 am and the temperature is at today's low of minus ten. Our reported high will be zero. I wanted to clarify something about our low temperatures. How cold or warm something feels is due to the amount of humidity present.

"Will Gadd, A Canadian ice climber has climbed all over the world and once climbed a frozen Niagara Falls, has this to say. "Canadian ice climber Will Gadd called from Austria to weigh in on the differences between cold, wet climates and the drier Alberta winter. Gadd has climbed in pretty much every Canadian province and territory, he says, as well as many countries around the world.

And having done so, Gadd is adamant that there's a big difference between climbing in a wet winter climate versus a dry one.

Gadd — who once scaled the very ice castles Velthuis builds — said he doesn't think calling wet and dry cold "myths" tells the whole story.

"I think people who say that haven't spent a lot of time in both types of climates," he said with a laugh.

Gadd's theory: "It's not so much that the cold is wildly different in terms of the actual amount of water in the air, but what is really different, I find, is how quickly you dry out."

He said the hardest climates to keep warm in often aren't that cold — perhaps five or 10 degrees below zero — but have lots of moisture in the form of snow or rain in the air. These include Atlantic Canada, Scotland, Iceland and Norway, he said.

"It's way more miserable because your clothes don't dry out, you stay damp. And then it's just horrendous," he said, adding, "I could never live in England. Those people are tougher than I am.

"I don't know what the science says. But I know from an athletic viewpoint, it's much harder to stay warm, dry and comfortable in a humid, wet climate than it is in a dry, cold climate," he said. "I'd take minus 25 and dry over plus five and lightly raining or drizzling or something any day of the week."

Well, if Gadd ever gets tired of climbing, maybe climatology could be his next career. Because he actually got the science pretty spot-on.

While cold air in Calgary and cold air in Toronto are essentially the same, the feeling that one is worse than the other isn't all in my head.

There are several reasons. The first is that in Ontario you're statistically more likely to be, well, wet. In other words, it's not the cold air that's damp. It's you.

Phillips explained that the average amount of precipitation in Toronto (for example) during the winter months is historically much, much higher than the average in Calgary. Five times higher, according to Phillips' calculations.

So you're just statistically more likely to be caught in rain, sleet, hail, snow or fog when you're in Ontario. And there's no denying that once you're damp, you're going to be much colder than if you're in dry clothing.

The second factor is wind chill. While Alberta and the rest of the Prairies are quite windy during other seasons, the Arctic wind that brings the cold to our doorsteps is actually relatively calm. Phillips said that's because the air pressure is significantly higher, making the air much stiller most winter days. Meanwhile, in many parts of Ontario including Toronto, multiple weather systems are coming together, creating gusts of wind that really hammer home the cold."

And that's the best explanation I could find to point out the différance between dry and wet climates.

While I'm on the weather subject, here is a definition for our ice fog.

"When it comes to a discussion of winter weather, the topic is never complete without recognizing the enduring contributions of the great Carl Benson, who ventured into the cold in the early 1960s in Fairbanks and began to unlock the secrets of ice fog.

Benson, 96, is still pursuing his scholarly studies, thanks to a good constitution and an unending sense of curiosity about the world around him. I can't tell you how much I admire him.

"Ice fog is a special case for two reasons," he wrote nearly 60 years ago. It is largely made by humans and it forms when injecting large amounts of warm water vapor into the atmosphere when the air is so cold it cannot handle it. The ice crystals become more numerous the longer the cold stagnant air remains.

He says now he made some errors in that study. The scientists who have followed his lead into the field, studying ice, snow and the atmosphere say his report remains both useful and informative."

"Benson's report was based on observations taken during the winters of 1961-62 and 1962-63, when it was colder than it is today,

There were six ice fog periods in the 1961-62 winter, including a December day with a temperature of 62 below. For six days the highest air temperatures were colder than 50 below.

For 231 hours, the temperature was colder than 40 below. The second cold spell was from January 23 to January 29, 1962.

Ice fog "becomes a nuisance whenever temperatures go below minus 35 C (minus 31 F) in the Fairbanks-Fort Wainwright area of Interior Alaska," he wrote.

At the time of his first ice fog research, there were about 30,000 people and 2,000 dogs in the Fairbanks area. There were about 17,000 vehicles in 1964. The number of cars that were used in the winter had grown sharply since 1948, when the headbolt heater appeared.

He wrote that while the exhaust from cars and trucks made up a small portion of the overall ice fog layer, it was a major source because the tail pipes were so close to the ground. "Also, they are probably the most dangerous of all sources because of products other than water which accompany them."

Twenty-seven years ago, Ned Rozell went along with Benson to collect ice fog samples and wrote about the scientist for the weekly Geophysical Institute column, capturing some of Benson's intellectual energy:

"At frigid temperatures, the air rids itself of ice fog in two ways, Benson said. When ice fog mixes with warmer air at the "lid" of the inversion, some of it converts to water vapor, which is invisible. Ice fog also falls out like rain, a phenomenon Benson took advantage of when he recently went out to gather some.

"To catch ice fog, Benson repeated a cold-snap ritual he has performed with other GI scientists since 1961. He placed several sheets of polyethylene-covered plywood at sites around Fairbanks. Ice fog precipitate, visible as a gray-brown layer on the snow, fell out of the air onto the plastic. Using a spatula, Benson shaved dirty frost off the rectangles of plywood. He collected the frost in a plastic water jug and sealed it. Later, he melted the residue into an unsavory broth of pollution particles and water. Besides water, ice fog contains carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, and a slew of other chemicals wafted into the air by cars' inability to completely burn gasoline.

"During a cold snap, most people in Fairbanks yearn for the magic moment when the temperature warms to about minus 30, the point at which ice fog dissolves to become water vapor. Carl Benson is perhaps the only man in town who roots for long cold snaps--they give him more time to collect samples."

Meanwhile, scientist Rick Thoman reports that there was a 20-hour period at the airport of hourly observations with visibility of one-quarter mile or less, which is one way to define an ice fog incident.

"This breaks the run of winters with no dense ice fog (by this metric) but is barely a blip from the later 20th Century expectations," he wrote."

No one is exempt from cancer King Charles now has to deal with it.

Tomorrow Kyle will try and get blood work and haircut ,today just didn't work out.

Patricia  that was an interesting read.. but you may still keep the minus 50s.

I see Lloyd made it in.

Rick, the weather was beautiful  I worked outside m no coat  sun meltng the ice. Now it will freeze tonight and we will have treacherous ice about.

Amy, weirdly, that's similar to when we were having minus 53, Yukon with minus 30 to the East and to the South, Anchorage was in the twenties with 100 inches of snow!

Yukon and Anchorage are the same distance from us, only in different directions.

Evidently, it's all due to atmospheric rivers and humidity.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  AMY, I must have missed his post.  I went back to look for it and I didn't find it!  Maybe later today he will drop by.

It's been a busy morning here today already.  I have an appointment by phone for a regular checkup with my dr.  And since my Dr. has left this service, I'll be having it with another one until they assign one to me personally.  Since this is just a normal checkup, this will work.  But I had to plan my eye stuff to work around it!  I'll sure be glad when this eye stuff is over.  Two more weeks and I'm finished!

I have stuff ready to make a crock pot dinner for tomorrow when Christy will be here.  She's bringing her new puppy and I'll get a chance to become friends with her!  She's a real little cutie pie in her pictures.

I guess I better get to work and get something done before Cathy gets here to share the dr. visit.  I wish youall a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to drop by for a visit with us!  We miss you when we don't "see" you!

Another bright, sunny, and cold one here today. About 20° when I got up.
My replacement Cable Box came about 6:45 last night. Took about an hour and a half to get it going. Had to call Verizon Support to get it unlocked - or something like that. It's amazing how much dust collects behind these things. So now I'm set for the Super Bowl

Jane, Lloyd didn't post but did make an appearance. Take some photos of Christys puppy  please!! You can email them to me, plus Christy take some of you and puppy .

Rick, I must admit I am at a loss when it comes to doing that, mine is a modem and I was so thankful the young lad (service tech )hooked it up for me.

Good morning from the Interior, where it's 7:58 and zero degrees. It's also the first day in weeks that I didn't wake up wrapped and rolled in my blanket like a good cigar.

Farrah is back to showing her disdain for her meals, rather wet or dry. I suppose I could begin trading them off instead of always leaving some dry out and no more every morning's tablespoon of wet food.

I have a friend on our daily meet and greets whose cat is the same, expecting treats only instead of food. We've had an us versus them alliance for some time now. One of the guys doesn't get it. His idea is we're both enablers, and we should stick with only one meal and if they don't finish in the prescribed time, to take it up and not feed them again until the following day. It's not surprising that he doesn't have or see the need for pets.

Today, Amazon is delivering my monthly cat supplies, better them than me. Have you ever attempted to lift 38 pounds (17.24 kg) of kitty litter? I have the delivery person set it at the end of my kitchen counter, and there it stays. I've found it's cheaper in larger amounts and I don't have to lug a similar or smaller size from local stores. Not only that, but I'm also receiving a case of various types of wet food, cat treats, and a set of silicone kitchen tools.

Anything that I don't have to remember to go and bring home, and is cheaper, is fine by me. I'm already planning another store trip for the items I forgot the last time. The issue is, while I'm decluttering and trying to have only what I need and actually use, there are items that I'm trying to replace many cheaper tools with better quality, but fewer ones.

Jane, I'd love to see the photos as well. Puppies are always so cute, even with the messes they bring.

The latter part of this week and next will be filled with deliveries, inspections, and looking up more paperwork for new applications and renewals. Wednesday will be alarm inspection day, when a maintenance man will usher an official from apartment to apartment, inspecting and testing fire and building alarms. Our intercom systems and swapping out our extinguishers and generally casting a discreet look to see how the apartment is faring.

Every so often, I wish I were rich enough to have "people" who handle all these pesky details. Or poor enough that somebody else handles them for me. I'm at that unenviable place where I'm neither one nor the other and expected to handle it myself. Sometimes, as I'm older, the need for an organized assistant is apparent. I make do with lists and calendars and yellow legal pads.

I received one of those advertised planners for Christmas that promised to organize and run my life. It even had colorful stickers and inspirational sayings throughout. I reviewed it, marveled at its complexity, and thought I would have loved it when I was sixteen. I thanked the giver, set it in a drawer, and there it rests.

Does this person that has no animals eat the same thing day in and day out??

Still a lovely sunny day here temp is 37° .

Amy, I just called Time and Temperature and at 11:39, it's still zero degrees. Since every temperature and weather outlook is different, I've gone to T&T alone.

Farrah is not a talker, only making noise when her prey drive builds up and she gets the zoomies. When I get up in the morning, it's usually to see her watching me from the bedroom door. She will follow me around, watching closely until I set the canned food in her dish. She, then, runs over to her feeding tray for breakfast.

Henry, my black lab from my childhood, would do that and then inhale his food.

We just ignore him, the non-pet owner. He sees animals with a values view to working. He gets crotchety if engaged.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Please keep Cooper in your mind today.  He's having surgery to remove a lump somewhere around his shoulder.  Frankie is very worried and I'm praying hard.

I have the bed stripped and ready to turn the mattress when Christy gets here!  I took a good look and I'm thinking about giving it a try...or not!

I wish you all a good day!  Mine will be a busy one.  I already have a load of wash in the dryer and another one in the washer waiting for the dryer.  The dishwasher is half done and the sheets are next for the washer. Dinner is in the crockpot so I'm on the way to being ready for company!

And now I'm going to get back to work.  Enjoy your day.  I'll be checking in later!

This morning I am posting from my apartment. While I was hoping to just not move today, I have to go out anyway. The Comcast guy refused to take the old Xfinity box even though I was told he would. It seems that some of the people he hooked up had problems with Comcast trying to charge them for the box because they didn't have a receipt (which he apparently can't generate on the spot). So, off I am in a while to take that back and while I am out I may as well get some more stuff from the house. I need to bring over refrigerator contents, the cats' toys, cleaners, shower curtain, etc. Things that are light. I cannot handle more books or other heavy-ish items just now. I really wanted to start putting a few things away today now that the furniture is here. Oh, well. I will do what I can, a little at a time. Sue will be meeting me at the house tomorrow to help move more stuff. She still won't be lifting/carrying anything heavy.

Oscar is taking the apartment move in stride; Shan spent a little time exploring before finding a hiding spot until I decided food would get him out. Well, no! I had to lift the chair he was squeezed under to get him out, followed immediately with the promise of din-din. Now he is right next to me; Oscar followed me out of the bedroom and immediately commandeered the rattan chair and is snoozing again. We are all getting used to the noises around us. I have to say that, not unexpectedly, the forced hot air makes it feel chilly in here even though the temp is set the same as the house. The bedroom is the warmest place in the apartment.

Jane, sorry to hear that Cooper has to have surgery.

Amy, I hope the furnace problem doesn't turn out to be an expensive venture.

Jane, the vet aspirated the lump on Babes side it found out it was just benign fatty tissue. Hope that it is the same with Cooper but will keep him and all those worried in my prayers.

MG ,sounds like you have had a busy time but everythnig went well with the move.Just do a little at a time, don't get run down. Things can wait another day.(oh boy I should listen to me! ) So far I have made pastry to make butter tarts and clean up my mess while waiting on the lad. I too hope it won't be an ouch! While here he is going to replace the seal on the toilet....we used to be able to do this ourselves but age has taken over. :(

Frankie just texted!  The lump was "just a cyst" and he didn't even need a biopsy!  We have both said our thanks!

I also turned the mattress!  And I don't have anything that I think will ache tomorrow!  Don't tell Cathy I did it myself1  She'll have a fit!

MG, you're moving right along!  But, like AMY said, take it easy!  It'll all work out!

Good morning from an Interior at minus three, our low for the day. Various weather systems list our present temperature all the way from zero to minus three and on to minus five. I don't know why they're so different, other than taking their readings from more than one of the various weather stations around the city.

It tends to be cooler along one of the rivers, traveling South or at the airport, which is surrounded by lakes and ponds. To the east, it gets warmer and more so traveling west. They, all, used to get their info from the airport which has the minus three rating and is the one used by Time and Temperature.

MG, now the fun really starts, from arranging all the goods and services and stuff being moved around to figuring out a home for everything. Plus wondering how in the world you accumulated so much!

I've lived here since November 2013 right as I retired, and I'm still trying to figure all that out!

Amy, I'm glad that it also worked out for Babe in the past. It's very hard when our fur kids have problems and depend on us with our limited knowledge to solve them.

Jane, I'm so glad that Cooper's medical issue was solved so easily and so well. It must be a relief for everyone.

Farrah is more demanding now she knows treats and wet food are again available. She eats her daily cup of dry food overnight and follows me around in the morning, as I go about doing chores and meet and greets, until she sees me preparing her two tablespoons of wet food. Afterward, she goes just under where her treats are stored, looking from the cupboard, over at me and back again, until I get up. She's rather scornful of my mental acuity, unless she literally points out what she needs.

Today, I'm awaiting the intercom and alarm systems inspection and tomorrow or Friday I will head back to pick up all of last trip's forgotten items and perhaps a few more. It's aggravating that Farrah may be right, as my list is available on my cell, and yet I tend to forget to look at it while I'm out.

The inspection just finished, and they're on to the others. Farrah knew what was coming, when she heard them in the hallway knocking on other doors and announcing themselves, so she took off. She just returned again but keeping an ear cocked toward the door. She's not a sociable feline and distrusts men.

Lately I've been receiving several spam emails from "Pat Halbach." Since she's been gone a number of years, it must have been a while back that my email provider was hacked.

Last year I received similar ones purported to be from Hal, who has also been gone for some time.

The remainder are pretty stupid emails as I'll receive a notice about an award, new technique or program I just have to have or a package and or fine that I "need" to immediately reply to. What brings the stupidity home is I'll get two or three with the same worded message but a different person's name or company.

I hear yah, Patricia. The apartment looked so big until I started populating it. Funny how stuff you bought for the old place doesn't seem to fit in the new one. To top it off, my vacuum cleaner broke.

After some time of using those stick vacuums, none of which lasted past three years, I finally broke down and ponied up for a Hoover, high performance, bagless, swivel XL made especially for pet households.  I also purchased a Bissell Turbojet rug shampooer for pet households. While not cheap, you get what you pay for.

I've never had an issue with either one missing those tiny grains of litter tracked by kitty paws.

One other thing about Bissell products, Their little green machine does seem, according to reviews, to work well. However, a number of people said after five years the product fell apart.

If I see something interesting, I first check the customer reviews, bypassing those obviously planted by the manufactures . Those reviews have saved me a lot of time and money and I often go there before reading the product's description.

In the Spring of 2023, the local Walmart Super Center decided to try an experiment. They tore out the majority of cashier sections, and now they have three human manned cashier registers and the rest are self-service.  A girl who works there says sales have diminished, and they blamed a large Costco coming in and decided to do more layoffs.

Interestingly, a similar sized Kroger Fred Meyers, directly across from Walmart, hired some of the discarded sales personnel because since early 2023, they've had an upsurge in sales. They have four self - serves, and the rest are staffed.

Hmmm...I wonder why that is?

Good morning..

We are off to the city this morning, taking back pants for our friend then heading to the Dr for cortisone shots for Kyle. They work but I do wish they would work longer than 3 months.

Patricia, I refuse to use the self check outs, they are not paying me to do their job,nor are they lowering the prices. I try to tell the girls that those manning 4 self check outs are taking away the jobs of 3 people and they just don't get it. Tell them once the people get used to self checks outs their job is redundant.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Hello Everyfriend!  Christy is here and we're talking a blue steak.  He new little doggie is so cute and so LITTLE!  Cooper doesn't like her much yet but I'm sure he'll get used to having her around!

PHYLLIS, I wasn't the only pleasant one in our store back then.  We had lots of nice people working there at that time.  However, I look for the "oldies" when I go shopping these days.  Some of the new people aren't that friendly!  And Cathy and I do NOT use the self check out.  Frankie does but in the younger generation!

I told Christy that we have to take a picture of her new little puppy (name LENNIE).  I have a hard time remembering it.  I just call her "Cutie"!

I'm going to be scarce in here while Christy is here.  So far Cooper hangs with me or goes back to the back bedroom and hides.  He'll get used to her!  She absolutely adores him!

I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!  And share it with us!

Good morning, I once read an article about self-checkouts, detailing when, where and why they came out. It was sold as a way to maximize sales, without the need for more staff and thus to gain more earnings, supposedly the wave of the future. I understand that in some of the larger cities, there are now fully automated stores with no need for sales staff.

Nothing new here. I've checked off chores, meet and greets, and the daily check of the world re my news blogs. I'm debating leaving that trip back for forgotten items until sometime next week rather than Friday. I need to recoup after being out in the world.

I'm back....just had to get in here to tell you all about my day.

Everything went good at my 4 week post-op appointment.  My surgeon said the X-rays look great and I am way ahead in healing.  The bone grafts have already started growing together in my cervical spine.  So very happy.

Now comes the not so good news.  The new soft brace they tell you is next to wear is awful‼️ The medium size they tried first would not fit in any way... so the small size is much better but the velcro strap is too short.  We have been all over trying to find some Velcro to try to extend it. We finally got some and Bob is hoping it will work.  This so called "soft collar" is stiff as a board and very confining!  Shame on them for teasing me calling it SOFT‼️

My shoulders continue to be the biggest issue.  I have PT two times a week and then it takes a couple of days before I can move them.  Typing has been nearly impossible at times, so again I apologize for not posting more often.  I will be better soon‼️

Good morning..
I think this may the last of unseasonal weather for us.

We enjoyed yesterday but oh my were we tired when we got home. Stopped at Pet Smart and Babe got her nails done. Moving on from that I exchanged the pants for my friends and I bought new pjs!. After lunch of chicken strips, fries and a sundae at Dairy Queen. Stopped at Fabricland to deliver some beets to our friend there then off to the Drs.

Today is pick up meds and I think Kyle wants to pick up some wood.  My job is to make butter tarts and chase dust kangaroos.

Jane, what a sweetheart Cam is!!! Enjoy your time with Christy and the pup!

Jenny. good to see you!Nice to read that you are ahead of healing. Just take it easy....no racing to the finish.

Patricia, we are in a hurry up time, nothing is built to last and it is now a throw away society. Those of us that have learned to do without , make do and cook from scratch are a dying breed literally. We can also be a tad stubborn and I still will not use those self checkouts.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Today has chenged!  Christy had a call from her vet yesterday and the puppy has "something", I forget what that has to be checked.  So she left to go home this morning instead of staying until Sunday!  I missed them before they turned the corner a half block away!

Now I have to go get dressed and start  the eye drops!  I had a message from Cathy about taking me to look for shoes to go with the outfit I'm wearing to the welcome party the night before the wedding!  Not sure when that will be but I said "OK" to whenever.  So I guess I better get on my horse and get moving!

Have a great day, Everyfriend!  Make it your own in every way!  And drop by and share it with us!

Good morning from an Interior at plus five. We'll have to see if the warm-up goes even warmer as forecasted. February has historically been our cruelest month and March our snowiest as more light brings less darkness and cold which brings more humidity. However, as winters have lately gone, nothing has been as usual.

Jenny, it was a pleasure to hear from you and while healing seems to take forever, know that going slow usually brings the most rewards, even if you feel it's never ending. I have always been the worst patient, grumpy, sore and snappish, so I admire your cheerfulness.

Jane, it's sad that Christy had to leave and take Lennie with her, (Hope whatever the issue is, that it's minor.); I bet Cooper is glad for both of you. :)

Amy, shopping and dealing with transportation issues and forgetting stuff and not finding what you need when you want it has become exhausting. But then even keeping up with daily chores can be that way too at times.

Almost my entire employment was in middle management and, it seemed, I was always hustling from one disaster to another while keeping a clean house and a social life. Now, all I to do is hang on the couch with my laptop or kindle and procrastinate.

I don't believe it's so much not making do, saving or planning ahead as it's a robber baron society. There is no trickling down, as lobbyists would have you believe. Everything goes up and stays there.

Our meet and greeters seem to feel the same. The past endless cold and for others the loss of all the work they'd done tending land, animals and crops, and staying prepared, has left a loss of purpose. We all need spring and some warmer weather.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I wish you a good day today!  I'm in wait mode for Cooper's arrival.  And I haven't heard from Christy yet about puppy Lennie.  I think she said they were going to see the vet this morning.  We shall see!

Shopping has become tedius to me.  Whenever Cathy takes me and I find what I went after, she always asks "Do you need to look for anything else?"  Yesterday I told her I'd probably remember right after we got home.  And that's usually what happens!

JENNY, listen to PATRICIA and don't try to rush the healing!  It always takes time and we all get anxious for it to happen but time is the best healer of all!  And we all want you to be able to share your time with us!

I think I better go do the warm up thing to my eyes before Frankie lets me know that she's on the way.  Enjoy your day!  And don't forget to share it with us!

Good morning..

This day is not going to be as busy as yesterday..I hope! Managed to get the baking done, 4 doz buttertarts, one blueberry pie and a cinnamon roll. Laundry was tackled ,yard cleaned up out back and water shovelled away from the driveway. Today is just laundry, just bedding ...

Jane I put some buttertarts in the hidey hole if you care for some,

Patricia, the grocery stores know they have us as we do need to eat.

Better get this day on the run.

Enjoy your day and stay safe./b]

Good morning all!

I am forcing myself to stay home today do more address and phone number changes, and find spots for what I have already brought over. There is still a bunch of stuff at the house, like dishes, more (yes, more) books, clothing, my printer, and more.

Last night, my upstairs neighbor came down with her dog and introduced themselves. Gatsby is a cute little dog, but don't ask me what kind he is. His coat is a smooth and short (could be cut that way?) dark blond, while his face is roundish, with fur tufts kind of like a shih tsu. I've never seen a shih tsu that color though.

Monday I am making a trip to the dentist. The other day, while eating lunch at a local restaurant, I got something wedged in between my teeth that felt hard and sharp. I though it might have been the extra crispy bacon, but what finally came out was a tiny, black, hard thing. I might have dislodged a bit of old filling.

Gosh, the washer and dryer here are tiny. What I had at the house is an extra large size that could handle my large winter blankets. Guess I will have to settle for lighter blankets and layer them. The big pet covers for the bed and sofa are way too large for the tiny washer and they need to be line dried. Not practical here. I'll have to see if there is a laundromat near here, but I can't see me carting heavy (without being wet) blankets home to drape over the bathtub to dry.

I am finding lots of things that are not practical, won't fit or don't have space for here. Downsizing sucks. It is hard to part from some of the stuff even if I haven't seen or used them in years. Memories and all.

Oscar and Shan had me up at the usual 4:30am this morning, but didn't touch their wet breakfast, preferring the dry, for now. They were both a bit rowdy and more noisy than usual so out came the laser light again.

Heard what sounded like a cricket outside the patio door this morning, but this is not cricket weather. I finally woke up enough to realize it was a bird, though I didn't see it. I am guessing it was one of the sparrows or a wren hidden in the yew bushes in front of the patio that afford some privacy.

Well, the day has started. It is light enough to remove the rest of yesterday's haul from the car.

Another day slipping by! Laundry blew out on the line, didn't even need a coat on but now the wind is up and our temp is to drop..38° at the moment.

Bubble, some buttertarts will have raisins ,walnuts or pecans in them . We just like them plain.

Jane, lots more to chose from....will take some to friends tomorrow morning .Another friend is either stopping by or we will meet up and will send some home with him.

MG, I can understand your dilemma, letting go of items that have memories is hard to do. Just keep all those memories in your heart to enjoy.  Sound though you are coming right along with your move!

Patricia, our weather is so mild compared to yours..but we are heading into colder temps. I just hate all the ice there is out there from the past two nights of rain. Funny weather!

I'm heading for the haystack.  I have no word from Christy about puppy Lennie.  Maybe she's in cure mode and has nothing to tell.  I'm asking her tomorrow what's going on!

I have 3 more days of the extra eye stuff to do and then I'm finished with that.  I won't know what the technical results were until I see the eye dr. but I know there's been an improvement!

Gotta go to bed.  My eyes are in slam-shut mode and when that happens, I can't see where I'm going.  Sleep well and wake refreshed!  Make tomorrow the best yet!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm on my last box of eye drops and my last day will be Tuesday!  I can hardly wait!  It seems like that's all I get done these days and I have to get packed and ready for the wedding on this coming Saturday!  Kyle has made the right choice and, of course, Tori also made the right choice!  They are so good together!

Now I have a load of wash in the washer and stuff laid out on the spare bed and more on my bed that I have to go through and make choices.  Cooper is here today and he's being a good boy!  My mind is going berserk trying to remember everything!

AMY, enjoy your "day off"!  Of course, I know you won't exactly take a "day off".  I doubt that you ever do that!  But do what pleases you best!

MG, I hope you are soon settled in but I bet that won't happen soon either.  Moving is one of the most difficult things we do and while it's hard to move a family from an apartment to a new house, it's even harder to move our old bones from a house back to an apartment!

I wish you all a pleasant day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!  We miss you when you don't stop by!

A good Superbowl Sunday to all.

I enjoyed and appreciated ALL of the nice comments made to me.  Everyone of them resonated well with me🥰. Yes, it is difficult to not want to push oneself to get this all behind me, I know you have to let time take its course.  That being said we decided after all the good report from my surgeon that we would go ahead with our tentative plans to take a flight to our son and DIL's in San Francisco.  Everything went smoothly getting here and they are doing everything to make me comfortable.  We are so excited to be here with them for the game today and Valentine's Day.

JANE, I pray that the new pup will be OK.  Sad that they had to cut their time short with you. So excited for you and your family to have this wedding soon.  Such a joyous time❣️ Good news on the eye drops being nearly done.  Hope they are doing a good job for you.

MARS, good to read that the move in progress is going well.  I can only imagine how difficult it is to have to give up so many items that you just can't take with you😩 The size of the washing machine/dryer is a bit frightful.  We have discussed this issue after seeing that many places only have the mini machines.  I know you will find a way to work through this.  I think you have done very well with the frustration and stress that a move like you are doing brings‼️

PATRICIA, oh believe me I am not cheerful all the time.....and having  a hubby that does so much for me certainly makes a huge difference.  At first I just out of the blue would just have  melt down.....tears flowing at the frustration of the whole situation.  Your kind words are taken wisely‼️

I have much more I would like to comment on but my sholder is saying it is done‼️‼️

Have a wonderful day.

Good morning from an Interior finally back in the high twenties. Today's low was plus sixteen! Of course we are having a heavy snow but that's probably a joy as well, except for those needing to maneuver through it and not play with it.

We've had a tough two days in our meet and greets with two serious illnesses, flu and a virus, so there has been a lot of discussion and worry but we're all hoping for the best.

Jenny, it's so nice to see you back with us again. Enjoy your time with family and the game!

Jane, I know you're going to be happy to see the end of those eye drops, and the wedding, Saturday. Let us know how Lennie is doing when you hear back. It's hard not to worry when an animal is so young!

Amy, enjoy your day of rest although I agree with Jane on how restful it'll actually be.

MG, I hope your issues with the new apartment are solved soon and favorably.  Moving is very hard, especially going from a house to an apartment. I think you're be fine and you have your cats with you. Locally, very few apartments allow pets. That was one of the big draws for me when I originally signed on to the waiting list here.

I do a lot of local and worldwide real estate browsing and there is a 2,200 sq.ft., two bedroom, two bath, condo for sale locally that allows two pets. However, the price, fees and monthly HOAs, preclude my doing more than dreaming about it. It's located by a river, the university And it's in a gated community.

Yesterday was not a good day for me but today is better even though it is dreary outside.  I was surprised to see my daffodils are in bloom.  I guess spring is on the way.

I just put pork chops in the oven with roasted sweet potatoes and onions with bourbon seasoning over all.  It already smells so good.

Take care,  All.

I'm almost ready to throw in this day!  I've been getting up earlier on the days that Cooper comes so I can get dressed, make the bed and get one set of eye care done and have my breakfast before he gets here.  That makes it a long day and once Frankie picks him up and I've done the last eye care, I'm ready to throw in the towel!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make it your own day but don't forget to share it with us.

PHYLLIS, it was nice to see you stopping by!

Good early morning to all!

The cats are being rowdy this morning, and noisy while at it. Oscar usually avoids ruff and tumble with Shan, but the last two days they have been having mock fights. Oscar almost always avoids these with Shan, but the new apartment seems to have activated him.

Today I must visit the dentist for a possible loose tooth and/or a missing piece of filling. Yesterday I had to take my new cell phone to the Xfinity store because I couldn't get it activated. Well, they couldn't either. Meanwhile, my old phone that was no longer working yesterday because the number was in the process of being ported to new phone became active again last evening. I don't have time to sort this out today because I need to move more stuff from the house. I still have most of my kitchenware and dishes to move, more books, etc. the need packed. Sue isn't going to push her luck by helping for a while, so it is just down to me. Bob, my contractor, will help with moving the stuff I can't and clean out the rest for trash when I am ready. This is taking way too long to suit me. Depending on the weather tomorrow, I may take the phone back over to Xfinity. I am thinking of just telling them to forget it, give them the phone back and cancel the mobile service with them. I'll have to make sure that my TracFone account is still active and working, though. I also have to check in with the rental office about my dryer not drying well and the tub pop-up drain plug will not pop up to drain the tub. I have to hold it up until the tub is empty. I have yet to try out the dishwasher because the dishwasher detergent is still over out the house. I've decided to get a new microwave oven, something a little smaller than the one I have now. The stove is nice, but I only have one small frying pan here as yet to test out the whole unit. My back is aching just thinking about all this. Meanwhile, I am getting antsy because I want everything done so I can concentrate on getting my taxes done.

It is 31o right now and may get up over 50o before we get into wet weather. Tomorrow will be a mix of rain and snow.

Phyllis, your meal sounds yummy.

Jenny, I am glad you made it out to San Francisco for the big game.

Have a great day everyone.

MG, WHEW! I thought I was up and attem but you made me tire enough to head back for the sack!  I'm sure glad I don't have to think about moving at this point in my life.  It's too bad your ?sister? isn't able to help you.  I hope she heals well!  It'll be nice to be close to her....if you ever manage to settle in!  It sounds like the kitties are working on that, too!

Frankie will be dropping Cooper off in a bit so I guess I better be ready to go.  He'll be hungry when he gets here and ready for a walk right after he eats!  So.....here goes my day!  Make yours a good one!  And be sure to share it with us!

Good morning...

I am up but heading back to bed! After reading all that MG has done and Jane is to do tuckered me out!!! :)

Work around home today, need a pot of soup made, not sure what kind yet and we are out of baked beans so that too will be done in the IP.one hour and 30 min and no soak the beans overnight. I did manage to "rest" yesterday in my sewing room. All four borders are sewn together now 332 pieces with just the  4 corner blocks to do.

Jane it is times like this we wish we could go help each out, many hands make light work and plus we would get to pet MG's kittens if they would let us. Glad that Leenie is on the mend with his mends.

MG,You deserve a rest! Once all the unpacking is done and items bought that you need you can put your feet up!

Phyllis, I agree with  MG, your dinner sounds delicioue!!! Glad you are feeling better.

Rick, did you read about the pork chop dinner Phyllis made? That may be one you would like to try.

Patricia, sorry to read about your friends. As we mature (notice I didn't say age) we seem to be losing alot of friends and acquaintances. The weekly paper will always have someone we know in it that has passed .

Jenny, enjoy your time away! You have earned it.!

Callie, hope all is well in your nexk of the woods.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Just had pork chops yesterday. Phyllis' sound good, but no alcohol here. I do them in a pan, entirely on top of the stove, and guaranteed tender. Veggies separate.

No alcohol here either, Rammel,  The bourbon seasoning I used is bourbon flavored pork rub from McCormick Spices.  They make a whole line of rubs and spices.  Bought at the grocery store and comes in a packet.

Try Googling the McCormick web site.       https://shop.mccormick.com/products/one-sheet-pan-bourbon-pork-tenderloin-chicken-parmesan-farmer-s-market-chicken?_pos=1&_psq=%20bourbon%20rub&_ss=e&_v=1.

I just had a VERY interesting phone call!  It was LLOYD!!  He said he's still having trouble getting on the site to post.  And, among other things, he said his son was going to come by and see if he can help him get on the site!  He also said that he was just about to leave for the VA hospital to have them check some things out...his left hearing aid is causing pain in his ear; he has a sore leg (i think) and a breathing problem.  There was more but my memory is not so good!  Nancy is still having trouble with her leg but she's up and around!

He misses us all!  He really wants to come by and visit!  And he's going to do his best to get in to the website.

Please don't change the web site soon!  If I think of anything else he said, I'll be back!  He said some nice things to me and thanked me for trying to find him when he was missing!  So there you are!  Put that in your mind and mull it over!  A very nice surprise for me!  And I hope, another one for all of you!

Good? snowy morning here!. At 32o it can't make it's mind up as to when it wants to change to rain. We are now expected to get from three to five inches. But, with the temp expected to get to 44o, it will mostly end up with slush that will end up freezing overnight. Sue has her Dr. appointment tomorrow to check on her healing process. She is so looking forward to it but may have to postpone it until the weather improves. Meanwhile, the result of my dental appointment confirmed what I feared, but a little worse. The whole back of my tooth sheared off, even down under the gum. Since it didn't affect the nerve, I don't have any pain other than a sore gum, which, but the way, is all that is holding the tooth in. I was supposed to get a call from the dental surgeon's office yesterday afternoon, but have heard nothing. I expect they were busy rescheduling those who have appointments today. If I don't hear anything by mid-morning I will give them a call to see if they have my new phone number correct.

I see someone is out plowing the snow off the road but not the parking area, so it must be the township plow. Out back is a large parking area mostly unused. I expect that that will get cleared first so we can move our cars so they can do our parking spots. Oh, I guess I was wrong, he just plowed a lane through our parking lot. Curious to see how this all works out. I thought the rental manager said they would move our cars for us when they need to clear everything. I did not bring a snow shovel from the house on that statement. I didn't bring a shovel from the house, but I do have my snow clearing apparatus in the back seat of my car. Good thing I remembered to bring my snow boots.

I did manage to bring home my small sauce pan and frying pan, so I have to get used to stovetop and oven cooking again until I get a new microwave. BTW, what is your opinion of air fryers? Some of these new microwaves include an air fryer feature. I could have sworn I saw a few yesterday that also will broil/grill.

[/b]Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm guessing that if you saw traces of LLOYD, it was really LLOYD.  He said he was in looking around but could not figure out out to post anything.  He said that he had actually tried but it didn't work.  I guess we'll see if his son got there and helped him out last night!

MG, you are really having problems!  I sure hope you figure out how to get it all worked out.  I'm so sorry about your tooth and I hope the dentist calls you with a solution!

We got the snow, too.  I'm not sure how much but Cathy was picking me up later for last-minute before-the-wedding things to do.  She has an appointment at 10 and was coming after that.  Since she lives in town, she'll probably make her appointment and the plow was down my road once but it needs more.  And my neighbor with OUR snow plow, won't be doing driveways until he does!  I'm saying a prayer that we don't end up with icy slush!

It's way too quiet out there!  But I'm going to pretend I don't notice that!  Try to enjoy your day everyfriend!  Make it your own in every way....and don't forget to let us know what you're up to!

Good morning..

We are 17° with a high of 31 to come.

No new snow here although it did try hard to snow yesterday, just a few flurries but nothing to worry about. Need to get that soup made today, not   fan fan of canned soup but they do in a pinch.

Jane and MG please keep the snow your way. I must admit we have been so lucky this year , not many dances have been had!

Jane, that is awful snow to move with  a snowblower. THey will plug up on you making the job harder.

MG, LOVE my airfryer! Food cooked in it comes out nice and crispy with the use of little or no fat used. I do canned potatoes in it, drain rinse the potatoe lightly spray  with coconut oil and sprinlke with garlic ,maple bacon and parmesan cheese. Jane has me now doing grilled cheese also. I will do up chicken or pork cutlets cook ,freeze in small pkgs then heat up in the airfryer. Between the airfryer and instantpot they are both good. Which reminds me we are out of baked beans. They take 1 1/2 hours to do, no soaking in the instant pot.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

According to the weather gurus, this area had 3.2 inches of snow overnight Sunday.  Sun came out yesterday and my yard/street/driveway were all clear by noon.

Good morning, it's plus thirty-one at 8:41 am. We've had scattered snow showers all week, but today through the weekend will be sunny with some wind.

Tomorrow is said to warm up to fifty degrees, but that seems unlikely. Our humidity is at seventy percent, unusual for us, but perhaps we'll see more than the four inches we have presently.

Not much going on here, the case of flu turned out to be RSV, and he has been hospitalized, mainly because of age and previous conditions.

The virus turned out to be a bad cold, but she now has meds and is feeling better.

Edit: According to time and temperature, we are now plus thirty-five at 9:10. If you look at the various weather sites, they have us anywhere from plus 18 to plus 39. I'm not sure where they're getting their information, but I'm sticking to Time and Temperature.

It's nice to see so many people checking in to the Soda Shop, I wish I had more to offer, but it's a very quiet time with not much going on.

Rick , I have to agree with you on the snow....the beauty is worth it. Big lazy snowflakes falling here, now the trees are dressed in cottonballs.

Phyllis, I don't mind th white stuff but when it becomes wet white stuff I don't think anyone likes it..not even our neighbour that has a plow truck.

Callie, will the "nanny" show them how to make snow angels?

Patricia, it took my friend 3 weeks to get over the viral infection she had. Nasty thing that settled right in on her. Your friends are being well looked after and now with being on meds and in hospital will get better faster.

Finsihed my tea....going to go sew. :)

Amy, The twins, who she calls The Nuggets, are 4. She's already taught them to make snow angels and helped them learn to sled. Theres a nice park near their apartment and she's very creative about thinking of things to do. She'll draw straight lines in various patterns and have them "tight walk" along them.  Other children have joined in and, a couple of times, adults even tried.

Glad to see Lloyd and hope you're feeling well.

Hey, LLOYD, you made it!  Don't forget to come back.  We miss you!

I love coming in and "seeing" people here!  Come back when you can.  Our snow is off the roads but still in the grassy areas and when the plow our road, there's always a big bump of snow right at the end, just past my driveway.  I'm the last house on my side of the road.  And it sure takes that snow a long time to melt!  And now the weather report is saying that we can expect more on Thursday.  I sure hope it's clear by the time we need to be in Philadelphia for my grandson's wedding!

Sleep well tonight and enjoy tomorrow.  Come back and let us know what you're up to!

Jane, great news! I'm happy for you to have reached the end of those drops! Now to find if it was worth it all.

Plus 28 presently, our low for the day at 8:06am. Farrah was sick yesterday, threw up a few times and spent most of the day crawled under a shelving unit. However, today she ate and purred when getting strokes and pats, while hanging out in the open, so she's better again. Which makes me feel better again.

Everyone in the meets and greets is doing well, even our hospitalized friend is stabilizing, so that's good.

It's nice to see everyone here, and Happy Valentine's Day to all!

Well, here we are again!  I've been trying to get my stuff together to make sure it all fits and to start packing.  I've decided that I'll do the final packing on Friday.  My Son, DIL and granddaughter are giving me a ride to Philadelphia.  They said they're leaving at noon on Saturday.  There's a fun gathering of friends on Saturday night for supper and fun.  I think that starts at 6 or around there.  We'll check into our hotel first and then go there.  The wedding is Sunday afternoon!

AMY, you made me hungry for baked beans and that's what I'm having for lunch!  They were quickies but goodies!

Nice to see everyone...CALLIE, AMY, PATRICIA, PHYLLIS, JACKIE, and LLOYD yesterday!  Keep coming around!  I need company!

The sun is shining today but we are supposed to have more snow tomorrow!  I hope that's it until our wedding is over and everyone is safely back home!  Enjoy the rest of your day Everyfriend!

Patricia, happy to read the Farrah is better.....we sure can worry about our furkids..

Better get back at it..

Holding good positive thoughts for Lennie, JANE. Sounds like he is going to be just fine. Happy for your family as they gather together for the wedding❣️ Yippee....the eye drops are done🥰

SO good to see you LLOYD❣️ Give my best to Nancy🥰

We are having a delightful time in SF with our family.  I am feeling great and without any doubt this time away is doing me good‼️ Last night we went out to dinner....We road to and from in a driverless vehicle.  I sat shotgun and it was great.  I had no issues at all with its driving.  It is a bit strange and definitely could freak one out,,,,but not me‼️

PATRICIA...Good to hear Farrah is doing better.  Glad you have warmed up a bit.....one of the sons told me we are going to be in the 50's next week at home and I am looking forward to it😁

PHYLLIS, your meal you described sure sounded yummy.  We have been eating like kings and queens since we have been here.... Might not want to get on those scales when I get home....but I have been doing quite well with my weight loss.  I wish you more FEEL BETTER days‼️

AMY, I have to admit I was a bit surprised that you did not get the backed beans done🤣🤣🤣🤣 Good girl....giving your self a break at times‼️‼️

Have a wonderful day EVERYFRIEND 💖

We're melting! I can't remember where that phase came from, perhaps from The Wizard of Oz, but it fits today.

..Temperatures Near Freezing The Next Several Days Over The Interior...

Strong southerly chinook winds blowing across the Alaska Range will continue into Wednesday and possibly into Thursday. Temperatures this morning have risen into the 30s this morning along many highways across Interior Alaska, with some lower 40s occuring south of Fairbanks. These warm temperatures will cause walking and driving surfaces to become slippery. Some valley locations north and east of Fairbanks will remain below freezing.

Temperatures will remain very warm along the Alaska Range through Thursday and partial melting of snow and ice may occur, making travel surfaces more slippery.

Areas further north such as near Fairbanks will likely have hill top temperatures remain near freezing the next several days, while valleys will have temperatures fluctuate from near freezing during the day and back into the teens or single digits at night. This will cause travel surfaces in hills to become more slippery over the next several days as snow and ice starts to melt. Valley locations could get more slippery as well.

I don't know how this will apply locally as we've been in the thirties to forties and twice reached 50 during the last week or so. We did have four inches of snow and that has been melting.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

We are to get snow later on this afternoon.I won't complain if it loses its way and doesn't show up!

Work around home with some bread making thrown in. Kyle asked if we had any raisin bread and we do not so raisin bread it is.

Jenny, like Jane I too am not so sure riding in a car with no driver would be a comforting drive. Are these computer generated addresses? What happens if there is a road block or a road closure?? You have nerves of steel girl!

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It seems like I've been up and attem forever.  I got a lot of stuff done since I didn't have to take time out for eyes.

After his surgery, Cooper is on some kind of medication that seems to make him need a walk before his breakfast in the morning!  And he knows how to tell me that!

One more day and then we're off to Philadelphia for Kyle and Tori's wedding!  They don't seem to be as "shook" as I am about it!  I'm sure they have everything well planned.  Kyle has always been that way and I get the impression that Tori is that way too!

I better keep moving today or I won't be ready.  I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share it with us!

Good morning from a cooler, cloudless, Interior at plus twelve, moving toward a high of plus 21.

Nothing new here., Farrah has recovered from her illness, Meet and greets are doing well, one is recovering at home and the other is stabilized in the hospital. The rest of us are keeping a low profile.

I wouldn't feel safe in a driverless car, either. Sorry Jenny.

Raisin bread is out of the oven cooling, will put a loaf and a knife in the hidey hole to slice off and enjoy. Beans are finally on cooking in the IP....

Yipee! Xfinity finally got my new cell phone working. I ended up with a new number because the communications between TracFone and Xfinity Mobile are problematic. My cell was one of the ones that refused to port over my cell phone number to the new phone. Apparently TracFone has a reputation for not porting numbers, as least to Xfinity, I don't know if other cell companies have the same problem. Well, I really didn't like that because all the futzing around with trying to get the number to port cost me a free phone. Now I have to pay for the phone because no one could get it to work in the allotted time they gave. Now I have to pay for the phone regardless. Even if I sent the phone back, per contract, I was obligated to pay for the thing. The upshot of all this is a waste of 9 or 10 hours, the price of the phone to be paid, and I now have two working cell phones. Except for during this move, I barely ever use the cell. The good news is that the basic monthly cost is no more than I pay TracFone, and I can cancel that anytime. I plan on deactivating my account with them. In the meantime, I have a spare cell that I can reactivate if Xfinity gives me any more crap. The TracFone is a G4, the Xfinity cell is a G5. I do like some of the features on the new phone, but the keypad is touchy while at other times, when I press a button, it doesn't take and I have to press several times to get it to do its' thing. Xfinity, whose CSR's I have always held in high regard, has now joined FIOS in the next to impossible to get a live body category. Those fake assistants never give you a workable answer. I did find somewhere along the line that if you press 9 on the keypad you supposedly get a live person to talk to. I haven't tried it.

Tomorrow Sue and I are meeting at the house for another pack and move session. I still have some books, most of my kitchenware, and other odds and ends, including my printer which I discovered I need to update my driver's license online. It turns out that they only give you 15 days to do it.

MG,  Tracfone is owned  by Verizon now and they always seem to have issues,  here in my town,  anyway.
Title: Re: : Soda Shoppe February 1 , 2024
Post by: MarsGal on February 15, 2024, 05:10:04 PM
Phyllis, that is another reason I wanted to switch out from TracFone. Even though they are supposed to be a separately run subsidiary, you just know the Verizon mentality will creep in. Unfortunately, it looks like Comcast, while I wasn't looking, as succumbed to the same fake assistant, impossible to reach live body mentality. It doesn't bode well for us consumers, I think, as more and more companies follow suit.

AMY, we just got a sifting of snow that only seems to have laid where snow plows didn't go before...like my driveway.  The road is clear and if I were still driving, I wouldn't even bother to shovel my driveway!

Right now, I'm having my breakfast and waiting for Cooper's arrival.  My suitcase is just about all packed for the weekend at the WEDDING!  I wonder how the kids are feeling today?  They're probably calmer than I am!

Christy and her husband are not going to the wedding.  They both have COVID!  Darn!  That stuff is really getting around!  I know KYLE will miss them!

Good morning from an Interior at plus one at 9:28. Nothing interesting going on here. Daily chores and meet and greets are finished, and our friend in the hospital has returned home with a visiting nurse and a temporary house guest of his grandson.

Farrah has returned to her bossy self, she determined some time ago, I'm not too bright, and she has become accustomed to speaking loudly and once she's assured of my attention, will go next to what she wants and look back and forth from it to me, all the while speaking loudly.

I've put off a shopping trip, too lazy to bring myself to go anywhere, so another day spent on my Kindle and computer.

Jane, enjoy the wedding and time spent with family and Cooper. Covid is still here as well, I think people have simply accepted it.

Amy, I hope no more dances are needed on your dance card and hope everyone is having a day just as you like it, as Lloyd always says.

I hope his grandson is able to help him back online and that he and Nancy are feeling better or will soon.

Happy Washington's Birthday/Presidents Day !

Good morning..

Here  we are celebrating Family Day. Some store may be open today, not sure which ones but we don't need anything.

Work around home and hope to put the last two borders on the quilt. We didn't get any amount of snow that needs to be dealt with. Will know better when I go out.

Jane, hope you are thoroughly enjoying the wedding and your time away with family..

Patricia, are you hibernating??

Rick, site seems to working alright this morning...faster than yesterday.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning from the Interior. 9:26 am and twelve degrees presently. Nothing new to report. Farrah has forgiven me for my ignorance, as yesterday I gave her quite a few treats.

Today, our meet and greets had good news as both ill members are recovering and doing well. I believe that having his grandson come for an extended visit, worked wonders and the new prescribed meds and social distancing helped her. The RSV is no joke, she said it's worse than the pneumonia she had several years ago.

I was off the computer, yesterday. I checked in my email via my Kindle and read a number of books, and simply took the day off.

The four inches of snow we had is melting, and our mild temperatures are rare for February, usually our most heartless month. And with the past January having frigid relentless cold, we never know what will happen next. March typically leads with more light and more humidity, and with lots and lots of snow. I don't know if that will happen this year or not.

I saw the posted photos of Bubble's area rains and saw that Lloyd has posted. I hope to see you more often, Lloyd.

Those cookies sound good, Amy. I have some chicken legs to get rid of, they are more bone and skin than meat and the last of the group. There is also ground turkey and pork chops, rice, onions, carrots, various bell peppers, and potatoes but nothing appeals. Yesterday I grazed all day on dates, toast, raisins and frozen peaches, not one sit down meal involved. It was a day off where nothing was needed or accomplished.

You must be on some good vitamins or a good constitution to do as you do. I'm slacking off more and more these days.

Well, I'm home again and I'm pretty sure there won't be any more Galas like weddings for me to attend in the near future.  Kyle is my fourth grandchild to marry and the next two don't even seem to be looking for a guy and the last one is still in high school.

The pre-wedding party on Saturday night was a lot of fun!  Good eats lots of old friends and met lots of new ones.  One of the first people I met when we arrived at the party was my new gdil (granddaughter-in-laws) mother.  She is a real sweetheart and she appreciates grandson Kyle as much as I appreciate his new wife, Tori!  Met lots of nice people and saw lots of Kyle's friends that I watched grow up with him.  But the best part was association with my children and grandchildren!  All together, it was a very special weekend!  Everyone should have one like this now and then!

I hope you all had good days!  I read all the posts and took them to my heart.  You are all very special too.  Back in the olden days, I could not have imagined good friends all over the country and even in foreign countrys.  Even my kids are impressed with my friendships with all of you!  Look at me today!  I'm nostalgic all over the place!  Lots of smiles and tears this weekend!  And I'm sure there will be more as these days, weeks, and years pass through my mind!

Now I'm going to go take a walk and then maybe a nap when I get back.  It's been a very different kind of busy day today.  I'll be back in my groove tomorrow.  Then I'll start getting ready to ride to Oklahoma with my granddaughter as she switches cars with her mother and then begins a new job at a college in Indianapolis!

I wish all of you good days to come.  Enjoy them and make them your own!  And, of cours, share them with us.

P.S. I've eaten 6 cookies....3 of each kind!  Thank you!!

Jane, happy to read you had a wonderful time away!! BUT also happy you're home :)  Who was the lucky one that had Cooper snuggle to?? David called from Tunkhannock PA and is on his way north now.

Patricia, does Farrah play with any toys? Good to read everyone is on the mend. Not sure if my friend had the RSV but it hung on for three weeks and made her weak as a kitten.  I didn't do much with the snow overnight...just a shovel scoop down the path to the wood pile and for the dogs and that is it.
What about a pot of soup with those chicken legs, rice ,onion and  carrots?

Jane, it sounds like the wedding party was a resounding success! It sounds like Tori and Kyle had a wedding party that was wonderful for everyone!

There are no weddings left in this family, my nieces don't plan on having any children. My one nephew has a daughter and the other is unmarried. They are all over thirty-five and long settled.

Amy, this is the last part of my unfortunate large package of chicken legs. The first two were extremely greasy and skin and bone. This last one, I threw away the skin and bones and will probably cook what meat there is and shred it for multiple dishes. I'll stick to breasts and thighs after this, and probably the boneless ones.

Farrah, is older, she'll be twelve in September and has never played with toys. She doesn't like catnip, tuna, or seafood and is afraid of men. She hides when anyone comes in the apartment. When I received her in 2016, she was antisocial, and I was told, attacked other animals. She doesn't do regular cat vocalizations, she has her own language.

She was found on a sandbar in the middle of a glacial, rapids everywhere, river, no way she swam or got there on her own. It was either permanent foster care or being put down. She thrived on being left alone to do things in her own way or time.

She hid under my bed for five months, people called her my ghost kitty, and there were those who recommended I return her.

When she did come out of hiding, she kept a three to five foot boundary between me and her for at least another month.

I haven't had anything to eat tonight.  Meals are all out of place today.  When I finish here, I'll go grab something to fill up the edges of my tummy and then probably hit the sack early.

AMY, Cooper, Cindy and I snuggled in one bed.  When Frankie and Courtney came in, he got petted but he stayed with us!  I made and divided his food into what he needed for the four meals he had there but Frankie took care of that.  She also took him from the 18th floor to the outside a couple of times a day when she thought he needed it.  He was very good and he knew what was what.

PATRICIA, it sounds like making Farrah feel at home took some time and patience on your part.  She's lucky to have come together with you!  And it sounds like you love and appreciate her, too!  What a hard time she had before the two of you came together!!

RICK,  I only ate 6 cookies and I just checked.  They are all gone.  Did you finish them off?

Heading for the feed bin and then the haystack.  Sleep well my friends!  Wake refreshed!  Come back and visit us tomorrow....or in the middle of the night if that suits you!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm awaiting the arrival of Cooper for the day while Frankie goes to work!  I've had my coffee and my breakfast to which I added 2 fresh cookies.  Thank you for the refill!

See RICK!  it wasn't me that finished the cookies!  It was JACKIE!  She sneaks in during the night and no one sees her!  Tea and cookies makes a good breakfast!

I better go get dressed before Cooper gets here.  He'll want his first walk of the day even before breakfast!  He can read me like a book and he knows what to do to let me know!

Have a great day, Everyfriend!  And stop by and share it with the rest of us!

Good morning..

Weather is starting to go into warmer temps in the next few days. Yesterday was a stinker, both dogs were holding up their paws when we went in the back yard. Not even 5 mins and poor Babe was trying to hold a front and back paw up, thought I was going to carry her with Kyles help into the house.

Today is tackle two untidy kitchen drawers. What is no longer needed will go to the restore. After that go organize the sewing room someone left it a mess!! ;)

Patricia, there are now more cats and dogs being taken to the humane society. When covid struck and people were home they thought they should have a pet. Now the pets are no longer wanted,I guess  some people don't realize that pets are a life long commitment.

Jane, can't wait to see photos of the wedding. Did Cooper get in the middle of the bed or at the bottom? Here, if Jesse can wiggle in between us he will, now bear in mind he is 100lbs of pup!!

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning from an Interior at 39 degrees at eight twenty-three this morning. Today will be another quiet day. I've put off some trips to town and have managed a lot of errands online instead.

I do have some housekeeping I've also put off and this week I need to get to that.

Everything is going well in our meet and greets. Those ill are improving slowly but steadily, and those otherwise are busy with late winter chores. I'm still seeing the disparity between the various online weather stations and planning to purchase another outdoor balcony thermometer, so I'm more certain, otherwise still sticking with time and temperature.

Jane, as of last November, I marked twenty years of being a permanent foster with Pet Pride. I take the ones that aren't cute, disabled or have permanent issues. It's been rewarding for the most part, and at one time in 1999. I had six for some months before they all found homes.

Generally, I have one at a time for the entirety of their lives. I pay for the day-to-day care, and Pet Pride steps up for any needed emergency care. It's a good system, and you end up falling in love with a cat that no one else wanted or could be handled.

Farrah was the most damaged I've ever seen, and she simply needed lots of quiet time, and to know she was safe.

That's why I get so angry when I'm reminded by Amy's mention of animals expected to be kept only as long as they're an amusement instead of a family member. Sometimes, I forget that many people believe animals and children are often viewed as disposable.

Patricia, I can understand your anger. Once going out to town ,our road was a mile log to the highway. We stopped at the highway and along in the ditch on a rainy day way 6 little soggy kittens..I bundled them up and we took them into the humane society.  I then wrote a letter to the newsppaer  to the person that did this deed  and at the end added what next your children??

If you don't want or can't keep these pets don't abandon them, take them to the humane society, give them to a rescue site, anything but don't leave them to defend for themselves.

Amy, for some years, my sister was a registered breeder and shower of Dalmatians. She always said that when 101 Dalmatians movie, came out, it ruined the breed and her business. Also, when she had her daughter, Sarah was allergic to cats and dogs, so she sold her business.

She charged several hundred dollars for her dogs, as the parents were all champions, several of them at Madison Square Gardens. She ran a reputable business, all dogs were chipped and vaccinated with good temperaments.

All the purchasers were required to sign non-negotiable purchase agreements that included an agreement that she would take back any dog deemed a problem. The purchase price however was not included in the return policy.

In reality, since the dogs were all chipped, she would get calls from around the country of her dogs running loose with no collar or identification. She would have to go down, pick them up and always leaving a record of the dog's owners, so any agency could take any needed actions.

Those returned dogs after vet checks and a re-training period would then be offered for resale at a reduced price. Several of these, instead of resales, ended up in training programs for handicapped people.

She has a very low opinion of people after being in the business.

Hello Everyfriend!  I thought I sent a picture of the wedding couple to someone to post but I don't see it.  Maybe it didn't go.  If I don't see it tomorrow, I'll try sending it again.  I don't really know how to post pictures from my email.  Maybe I should try to learn that!

I'm off to the haystack pretty soon.  I tried to take a short nap this afternoon and I got two text messages that woke me just as I was drifting off.  When that happens, I might as well get up and get busy again because I'm not going back to sleep!

Now I'm wishing you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Make the day your own in every way.  And stop by and share it with us!  Nighty Night!

Jane, my nights and days are as much in turmoil as this darn move. I fall asleep early, get up go to bed, but then around three in the morning the cats decide they want me up. In truth, Oscar has always been an early riser, but he as taught Shan the same thing. Shan is up for eating at any time of the day or night, so that wasn't hard. Anyway, the best I could ever do with them was to let me sleep until around 4:30am, except for a few weeks back where I got the luxury of sleeping until five or so. At any rate, here I am, the cats fed, I'm wide awake at 4:20am with the temp outside at 25o. It is supposed to get all the way up to 48o this afternoon.

Yesterday I stayed home again and got my ancient history books on the shelves and organized. The computer and paraphernalia are now moved into the spare room so that it and my files are all in one place. And, lastly, I got my driver's license and car registration address updated. I also spent some time looking at microwaves and book shelves to replace those that aren't coming with me.

So, now, Oscar and Shan have decided that the box jungle in here is fun to chase each other around in. They seem particularly activated this morning. Today, I may go back over to the house to find the little can of W-D40, one of the big yard bags, and bring back some more stuff - like dishes. Also, I have two book shelves here that need filled, and I need to find and organize my tax stuff so I am ready to start my taxes. I hate waiting this long to start work on that little yearly project.

Good Morning to all of you out there!  Cooper is here and he's had his walk and his breakfast!  Now he's resting up for the next walk or in case someone knocks on the door!

I'm ready for the day!

MG, you sure are working hard but it's nice that the kitties have decided that the new home is HOME for them!  And you ARE making progress!  I bet you'll be settled in by next week...or maybe next year!

AMY, let us know how the new recipe goes.  I made a new breakfast recipe.  I put it together and baked it last night so I could just heat and eat and it turned out pretty good!  I'm going to freeze some singles so I can just get them out before I go to bed and they'll be ready to heat and eat in the morning!  Also cooked some pork chops for supper last night and have some for supper tonight!  Today is laundry day!  And also, "time with Cooper" day!

I hope you all have a great day!  Let us know what you did and how it turned out!

Good late morning, it's nine thirty-six in the Interior at plus twenty-two.

MG, it looks like we have the same forecast, we're due for some light snow with no real accumulation. I tend to have the same sleep schedule, you describe. Farrah, on the other hand, has no trouble sleeping anywhere, anytime. I blame mine on forty-nine years of working late or overnight shifts.

Amy, you Jane, and MG are so busy, and I'm not. Other than daily chores, laundry and daily meet and greets, I don't really do anything off the couch. Even my meals aren't thought out but thrown together.

Now I'm off to look at Jane's photo.

Been a tad busy, a tad lazy and now getting ready to put together supper for later.

I tried to match up backings for some quilt tops, some I like others ,no thank you. This may mean online shopping or a trip to the quilt store..

Patricia, Kyle and I went to the humane society to look at a Border Collie....when we entered a room, there in a large cage but hardly big enough for him to turn around was this Dalmation..they called him Pongo...sound familiar? We took what they said was a 2 yr old  out for a walk and he never went back into that cage. A vet check said he was 5....not 2 yrs old. On the way home Pongo was changed to Buddy, not by us but a man that saw him and asked Kyle how is your buddy? We took him clear across Canada camping, at trailer sites kids would yell look a dali-mation. I would make him sit as his wiggle would knock kidsd flying, he loved everyone!! We don't know his back ground other than he was tattooed and you couldn't put you finger on his belly without connecting to bites.Once we got him cleaned up he was fine other than he hated puddles and would jump over them or go around. He really hated dirty feet also..he was a good Buddy.

Dalmatians are wonderful dogs, intelligent, sometimes gassy, originated as hunting dogs and not always obedient. They need lots of exercise and do best with training. My sister loved the breed, Maybe, her favorite, or more formerly known as Platz Magic Dancer; smoked every competition she was in and had a waiting list for pups before she ever had any.

Does any of this sound like, Buddy?

BUBBLE, thanks for posting Kyle and Tori's wedding photo.  I still have flashes from the "doings" and the memories will be around for a long time.  They are on the way to Australia for a honeymoon!  Isn't that special?  Wish I could see over their shoulders and share the sights!

I love all the dog stories!  Dalmatians sure are special doggies!  There was one down the street from us when I was in high school and I would have taken him home any time!

Today was a busy, catch-up day for me and I'm beat all the way down to the floor!  I'm going to hit the haystack early tonight and hopefully get a bit of extra sleep.  Cooper will be here early in the morning and I need to get some things done before he gets here.  I like to spend some time with him when he's here and he's all over me when I sit down beside him.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way!  And come tell us how you're spending it!

Good morning...

We are off and running to the city today, Kyle has two appointments and thankfully they are both at the hospital, no city hopping! Roads should be good no snow or rain predicted.

First I drop Babe off for a spa day to get a  bath and nails done. Oh the life of a dog .

Jane, spent too much time in the sewing room and didn't put together the recipe but I will do it and let you know. Instead we had potatoes, corn and  friend onion mushroom gravy smothered beef patties with hot apple crisp and ice cream for dessert.

Better get my city duds on :(

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who shows face today in the way of words!

Cooper arrived on time, we took a walk, came back and he had his breakfast and followed me around while I took the mattress pad out of the dryer and put it back on the bed, then threw the sheets in the dryer and the  the comforter in the washer.  I'll have a clean bed tonight!

AMY, Babe is lucky, spending the day at the spa!  Sounds tempting!  Have a good day in the city and get there and back safely!

I better get back to work.  I just heard the dryer quit!  I wish Everyfriend a  great day.  Make it your own and then share it with us!

Good morning from the Interior at 9:11 and plus 33. All morning chores and meet and greets finished for the day and only some business double-checks left to do per winding down February.

I've decided to wait until March for any errands, for once, there is nothing needed or to be planned for. The snow outside is collapsing in on itself, and the parking lots' stored winter snow piles are being collected and hauled away.

I have to say that the only sad-looking Dalmatian I ever saw was at Alaskaland, a local theme park celebrating our gold rush camp beginnings. The dog was half Dalmatian and half Rottweiler. He had the thick body of a Rottie and the white spotted Dalmatian coat. He had a small crowd around him and the owner said he was goofy at home but a great guard dog. He had been well-trained and was sitting quietly amidst all the attention.

Amy, have a good trip there and back and good results for Kyle's appointments.

I wouldn't mind being dropped off for a spa day. The last one was for the Bride and her attendants, two days before the wedding. We were lined up in a row, our feet in basins, our hands being buffed, and we had goop slathered on our faces. I remember we all ended up with matching manicures and pedicures.

Your dinner sounds wonderful! I'm a little hurt that I wasn't invited... :-\  :)

Jane, I envy you for having time with Cooper. The man two doors down from me has a little black poodle called Lovey. His wife is in a care home and the dog is noisy, a scene stealer, but charming.

I remember one fall I had Farrah in her nylon crate, in the lobby, waiting for a taxi to take me to the vet. Lovey came rushing over, barking, and Farrah took one look and promptly turned her back. Lovey stopped barking and went back to her owner, tail tucked.

Well, I've had a busy day!  It started with breakfast and getting ready for Cooper's arrival and the bed stripped and laundry started.  And it kept on going with laundry, remaking the bed clean, dealing with Cooper's needs and wants and then a Dr. appt at 1:00p.ml in the middle of all of the rest of it.  I feel like I've been moving all day.

I did take about an hour off to sit and schmooze with Cooper before Frankie picked him up after work.  She's off tomorrow so I won't have him but he does have an appt to get his stitches out and if they tell her it's OK for him to have a bath, they'll be here sometime tomorrow afternoon for that.  She only has a shower in her apartment so he gets his baths here!

Now I'm going to finish up some stuff and hit the haystack!  I'm ready to throw in the towel and be done with this day!  We'll see what tomorrow brings.  Sleep well tonight and wake refreshed.  Do what suits you tomorrow and then come by for a visit with us!

Good morning..

Back to chilly weather, yesterday we hit a high of 50°!  Kyle and I both took off our jackets yesterday and we were more than comfortable. Everything went well, now we wait for results from the tests. It was a long day,we stopped at Red Lobster for lunch while waiting for Babe at her spa day. Food was good but oh my their prices are going through the roof!! Next we picked up Babe, the groomer did an excellent job!! I know she groomed another dog out of her! A light supper was all we needed then rest a bit then earlyy to bed!

Today, need to pay bills  and  what ever else needs done..

Jane and Patricia, thank you, we had a good day. Appointments were on time , no waiting  which is nice.

Patricia, always welcome there is  more than enough food to go round. I have yet to learn to cook/bake small.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!! It's a cloudy one here.  I'm ready to take my walk but I have to make a phone cal as soon as it rolls over to 8 a.m. and she has time to get to her desk!

No Cooper today unless he comes for a bath.  We shall see!  I have some house stuff to finish up...or maybe not!

I wish you all a good day!  Please share whatever happens with us!  It's a cloudy one here!

Good morning from a less warm Interior at 13 degrees and eight fourty-three am.

Nothing new here, dailies done and everyone washed and fed, so onto the computer to see what the day brings.

Amy, now that the trip's finished and Babe left the extra dog behind, I hope our dinner will be a good one. If you noticed, I've left you a few ideas.

Jane, good morning, I hope your day goes well and to Rick and everyone else checking in, I hope your day, to borrow Lloyd's phasing, is just how you like it.

Well, Hello to AMY and PATRICIA!  Not much traffic in here today!  I hope everyone is having such a great day, they just plain didn't have time to share it with us!  I'm about ready to hit the haystack.  My eyes have entered the "bonk shut" stage and sometimes I can't see where I'm going and I have to stop and force them open!

Cooper will be here tomorrow about 6:45 and he is ready for a walk as soon as he gets here.  And when we get back from our walk, he's ready to eat!  And after some lovin' up, he's ready to stretch out and take a nap.

Tomorrow afternoon, Cathy and I will be attending the local high school musical  It's "Mary Poppins" and that's one of my favorites.  But for this one, my favorite part is the Stage Crew Manager. It just happens to be my youngest granddaughter, Kiran!  She takes after me!  That's what I always did for the high school plays!  She didn't know it until her first time and now we have this in common!

My eyes just clunked shut so I guess it's good that I can type without looking but I also think I better give them a chance to close and stay that way for a while.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way!  And PLEASE, stop by and share it with us!

Good evening.  I have been trying to get in here all week and finally I did it.  I have no idea what happened but I had no S & F information anywhere to seek out to find my way back.

Happy to read the posts and to see the beautiful picture of the bride and groom.  Jane they are a beautiful couple and I love that they went to Australia for their honeymoon.

We returned from San Francisco Sunday evening.  We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every minute of our time there.  Our son and daughter-in-love took such good care of us.  I was quite comfortable all the time I was there.  Came home and started physical therapy again and now am back in pain.  It is necessary so I just have to deal with it.  Another week and a half of this neck brace and I can not wait.

PATRICIA, my Smokey was the very same way when we brought him home 7 years ago.  He has mellowed a lot and is a loving guy and is right with us every second UNTIL he hears someone at the door and the scaredy cat is gone until a second after the door closes and they are gone and back out he comes.  I am glad your friend is feeling better.....RSV is serious and seniors need to be inoculated, especially those with an already weakened immune system.

It is late so I need to hit the hay.

Jenny

Good morning..

Another chilly morning here 0° at the moment. Beautiful moon light night last night. Laundry today and I can hang it out. May  get Chelsea buns done today..will see how the day goes.

Jenny, good to see you and you're home safe and sound. You can get through all that therapy and leave all the hurt behind.

Jane , enjoy your play!

Patricia, I am sure Babe feels a lot better too!

Rick ,any snow your way? Our crows are starting to come back and I love watching them from the kitchen window. They can be comical when seeing something new on the ground to eat......take a bite, hop in the air, take another bit then fly off with it.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

OK, I'm all finished with the morning chores and I have stuff for a casserole set up and ready to go later today.  Cooper had his walk and his breakfast and a some lovies from his GG.  I hope all's well with you!

JENNY, I'm sorry you had a hard time finding us but I'm glad you had such a nice visit with your family out west of you!  It's always fun when you get together with family.  I'll be leaving PA in March for a visit with my family in Oklahoma.  Unfortunately, that's where my only 3 great grandkids live.  It's so far away!  I wish they were right down the street! Also, I wish you well with your next treatments.  Let it do the job!

AMY, I hope RICK says 'no" to your question about the snow.  One way or another if I get it it moves on to him and if he gets it, it moves on to me!  I'm ready for SPRING!  I hope it hits OKLA while I'm there!

Now I'm off to see what else is clamoring for attention around here!  Have yourselves a great day!  And wander back in to let us know!

Laundry on line and bread rising.....next is into Chelsea buns and a loaf of bread...then I go play in the sewing room :)) Whoops......need to vacuum seal two bbq chickens too!!

Good morning, five degrees at 6:49 and I too am more than ready for Spring! Everyone has had their breakfast and wash, with morning chores, meet and greets finished and coffee's on.

Jenny, Farrah too, has mellowed and readily shows affection. She will be twelve in September. She is part of that ten percent who doesn't care for catnip, and she doesn't like seafood. Not only that, but she has never played with toys, no matter how I've tempted her.

The only birds seen right now are the ravens who come down from the mountains to spend the winter in the valley. In Spring, they'll return to the cooler higher ranges.

Jane, our snow was late coming in January. Currently, it melts during the day, making a mess and freezes into ice at night.

PATRICIA, please keep that kind of snow up there where you are.  We have had some that arrived in the form of slush and then froze overnight but not so far this winter.  Thank you very much!

I made a mistake on the musical. It's next Saturday...not today!  I wondered why there was nothing in paper about it yesterday or today.  Now I know!

Better get back on the job!  Cooper will be begging for his noon walk soon!  He seems to be able to tell time!  Enjoy the rest of your day!

Nope - No snow heading this way. Soon comes March, and with it less chance of snow.
Speaking of Crows (story)- When I was still working I would get to where I parked for the day. Between there and work was a lagrg church with a school and associated building, that formed a court yard. There were two tall trees in it, and as I walked by I could hear ONE crow start it.Then two, then four, then the whole crowd of them. I would guess a couple of hundred of them - all announcing that they were up for the day. Shortly after the original noise they would take to flight. They would all fly off probably looking for eats - and the parkways nearby.
They would come back there every night.

This snow doesn't melt and soak in as wet climate snow does. You sweep it off with a mitten or broom. I wouldn't want your snow, either. The issue is that we have more ice than snow and when it does snow, all that ice is hidden awaiting the unwary.

March is normally when we do get snow because of the increased daylight and humidity. But they're saying not this year. I guess we'll see.

Ravens spend the summer in cooler mountains and spend the winters in town. There are smaller birds, chickadees, redpoles, wrens and that sort, who band together for protection in the winter in huge flocks, then break up in the spring into single species flocks.

However, due to area bridge, highway widening and other area construction, plus building management deciding to cut down all the trees in the back, the birds have found other places to hang out.

Good morning..

Starting out a 2 ° and we are to see the sun for part of the day.

A day or rest here, going over to a friends this morning then home to....shh... sew? ;)

Rick, crows are so smart! When I throw/put food out for them I give a whistle then come back in the house.  They are here before I get to the kitchen window to watch them!  One crow will be the look out and caw for others to come enjoy the wood, not a greedy creature. I love watching them take a peck at something I have thrown out, then jump back ,then they will take another peck but now know it is safe to eat.

Patricia, I threw a huge chunk ofsuet out for the birds, raven came and he devoured it all! Beautiful big bird. My freinds used to call ravens Gronk .

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm off to the showers to get myself ready for church.  Cathy is coming by to drop me of and then a friend will bring me home!

Cooper arrived, had a walk and his breakfast and some loves from his GG and now he's napping on the sofa!  When I get back from church, he'll be ready for another walk.  I'm going to have to get a couple of bananas so I can make dog cookies.  I'm almost out of treats for him and I want to take some cookies for Cindy's doggies when I head for OKla.

I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!  That means if you want to sew all day, do it!

Good morning from the Interior where it's sunny and seven degrees with temperatures expected to plummet.  Morning chores and meet and greets all finished, and I'm back on the commuter.

While the internet had no Thursday issues locally, yesterday afternoon we lost connections and after last checking at five, I went back to old-fashioned paperback reading.

Whatever issues, we were back on this morning and so am I.

We don't have any crows here, but Ravens can be a menace. You have to cover and tie down anything in your yard or truck, or they will get to it. Ravens are great at problem-solving. They have learned so much while watching humans and then teaching others in their group, such as ice fishing. Turn your back and a raven will jiggle your line and take off with your fish!

I have no idea who put this together,
But it is wonderful, especially if you're North of 70!

Long ago and far away, in a land that time forgot,
Before the days of Dylan , or the dawn of Camelot.
There lived a race of innocents, and they were you and me.
For Ike was in the White House in that land where we were born,
Where navels were for oranges, and Peyton Place was porn.
We longed for love and romance, and waited for our Prince,
Eddie Fisher married Liz, and no one's seen him since.
We danced to 'Little Darlin,' and sang to 'Stagger Lee'
And cried for Buddy Holly in the Land That Made Me, Me.
Only girls wore earrings then, and 3 was one too many,
And only boys wore flat-top cuts, except for Jean McKinney.
And only in our wildest dreams did we expect to see
A boy named George with Lipstick, in the Land That Made Me, Me.
We fell for Frankie Avalon, Annette was oh, so nice,
And when they made a movie, they never made it twice..
We didn't have a Star Trek Five, or Psycho Two and Three,
Or Rocky-Rambo Twenty in the Land That Made Me, Me.
Miss Kitty had a heart of gold, and Chester had a limp,
And Reagan was a Democrat whose co-star was a chimp.
We had a Mr. Wizard, but not a Mr. T,
And Oprah couldn't talk yet, in the Land That Made Me, Me.
We had our share of heroes, we never thought they'd go,
At least not Bobby Darin, or Marilyn Monroe.
For youth was still eternal, and life was yet to be,
And Elvis was forever in the Land That Made Me, Me.
We'd never seen the rock band that was Grateful to be Dead,
And Airplanes weren't named Jefferson , and Zeppelins were not Led.
And Beatles lived in gardens then, and Monkees lived in trees,
Madonna was Mary in the Land That Made Me, Me.
We'd never heard of microwaves, or telephones in cars,
And babies might be bottle-fed, but they were not grown in jars.
And pumping iron got wrinkles out, and 'gay' meant fancy-free,
And dorms were never co-Ed in the Land That Made Me, Me.
We hadn't seen enough of jets to talk about the lag,
And microchips were what was left at the bottom of the bag.
And hardware was a box of nails, and bytes came from a flea,
And rocket ships were fiction in the Land That Made Me, Me.
T-Birds came with portholes, and side shows came with freaks,
And bathing suits came big enough to cover both your cheeks.
And Coke came just in bottles, and skirts below the knee,
And Castro came to power near the Land That Made Me, Me.
We had no Crest with Fluoride, we had no Hill Street Blues,
We had no patterned pantyhose or Lipton herbal tea
Or prime-time ads for those dysfunctions in the Land That Made Me, Me.
There were no golden arches, no Perrier to chill,
And fish were not called Wanda, and cats were not called Bill
And middle-aged was 35 and old was forty-three,
And ancient were our parents in the Land That Made Me, Me.
But all things have a season, or so we've heard them say,
And now instead of Maybelline we swear by Retin-A.
They send us invitations to join AARP,
We've come a long way, baby, from the Land That Made Me, Me.
So now we face a brave new world in slightly larger jeans,
And wonder why they're using smaller print in magazines.
And we tell our children's children of the way it used to be,
Long ago and far away in the Land That Made Me, Me.

If you didn't grow up in the fiftys,
You missed the greatest time in history,
Hope you enjoyed this read as much as I did.

BUBBLE, I LOVED IT!  I can identify with all of it.  I graduated from highschool  back in the 50s and I'm always threatening to throw my cell phone in the river!  I watch old Perry Mason shows on TV and when they need to make a phone call, they have to hunt a phone booth!

Frankie picked up Cooper a little bit ago and I had my "sitty-arounds" with him for about 45 minutes before she came.  It doesn't matter where he is or what he's doing.  When I go in and sit down on the couch, he's right there with me.  I always try to spent that last time with him and he's a cuddler!

Cathy brought over a GIANT suitcase for me to use when I go to Texas and then check through on the plane when we come home.  I know I won't have it full going down but I sure will coming home.  There's stuff down there that I can't buy at home and I always have a lot of stuff to bring home!

The weather high today was 46 but it only lasted about a hour and the overnight low was in the teens.  Tomorrow the high will be 55 and that makes me happy!  Most of the snow around here is melted but I live at the end of the street and when they plow, everything for a block and a half ends up just past my driveway.  There's still at least a foot and a half tall and two feet wide out there.  I try not to look at it and to enjoy the green grass around it!

I guess I better get busy before I decide this day is over!  Please continue to enjoy your day!

Bubble, I think life was a lot better back then. We didn't have electronics to play with we went out to play with the neighbourhood kids. If one misbehaved a Mom would scold you.....maybe not your Mom but your Mom would hear about it and scold you again!!!

Jane, my day is also coming to an end. I did get some sewing done an d some unsewing too! :(

Took some food out for crow, broke the buns up and threw them over on the yard, gave a whistle as I reached the door and crow called back to me from the pine tree in the yard. Made me wonder who has who trained?? I was told to only give dried bread to the crows........well....crow picks up a piece of bun....goes over to a water puddle and yup...dunks her in and then eats it!!!

AMY, those crows are strange!  I guess they are just "dippers"!

Sleep well and wake refreshed!  And come back to visit us tomorrow!

The poem is correct. In the 50's, Reagan was still a Democrat; he switched to Republican in 1961.

Well, I managed to wreck my back again yesterday, so today I am staying home. I still have dishes I want to get, my paper shredder, my crates of photos and memorabilia and files, another box of books or three of books (that should be the last), and I really need to find where I stashed my mineral collection. I'm giving up almost all of my regular sized Christmas stuff and sticking with my mini tree and mini-sized ornaments; those I can put up somewhere where the cats won't destroy them. Also, I mean to keep Mom's white Christmas Creche and my sister's ceramic Christmas tree with lights, and whatever else I can stuff in my car.

Still no help to push the last of my stuff out. My contractor guys ended up not coming last week and my contractor hasn't called this last weekend like he said. Sue goes to see her surgeon today to see if she can lose the brace and what she can start doing again. I am thinking that if she still has some pain after helping move a few light boxes she will still be pretty restricted in what she can do.

Meanwhile, my youngest sister recently had an MRI for all the pain she is having, but I haven't heard the result yet. She is now unable to do a lot of things, so she has promoted herself to manager and is now supervising her recently retired husband.

Nine more days until I see the oral surgeon regarding the split, loose tooth I have been dealing with for more than two weeks. It will have to come out. My regular dentist is recommending evaluation for an implant. My insurance will not cover the oral surgeon. In fact, the dental group for Blue Cross seems to have problems with my regular dentists' claims for my regular dental x-rays which are supposed to be covered. I am not impressed.

I am keeping an eye on Shan again. He may be having trouble peeing again. I found a small spot outside his box which he was trying to cover, noticed his action the other day too, but couldn't find anything. I've rearranged the potty box closet, adding his Breeze system and another mat to cover the closet floor. Now I can see if there is any red in the urine. Fortunately, Oscar rarely uses the Breeze box.

Good Morning to MG and Everyone who peeks in later!

MG you are certainly dealing with a lot.  I sure wish I could help you out but that's something I can't do anymore.  I wish you well and I hope everything gets done on time!

This will be a short one because I'm awaiting the arrival of Cooper and I'm not sure when that will be.  My daughter Cathy and her husband, took Frankie to drop off her car at the repair shop yesterday and they will give her a ride to work this morning and then drop off Cooper.  I'll be waiting but I suspect that they won't call to say they're on the way as Frankie always does.  So the door is unlocked for them.

I wish Everyfriend a good day!  Make it your own in every wa!  And PLEASE...share it with us!

Good morning..

Starting out at 27° and cloudy. Well I can tell "our" crows are here 6 am and they are holloring for their breakfast. No Drop Wing as of yet and I wonder if he will show up this year.

We have business to do in town plus take the garbage away. Then the day is mine to do as I wish or what ever needs to be done. I need a dessert so Phyllis's baked custard in the IP will fit the bill.

MG ,hope nothingh serious with Shan. We worry about or furkids when they are off kilter.

Jane, yes it would be nice to live closer as you know!!! I would help you cuddle ,snuggle and love Cooper..plus do some work :)

I would also have a place to send extra baking to or meals when I over do it to others!!

Callie and Phyllis hope all is well there..

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Everything is going along OK, Amy.....but slow. I must find that custard recipe and make some.

Cute poem, Bubble, but after my time.  I grew up in the 40's so couldn't really identify with it.  If it spoke of Frank Sinatra, bobbysocks, food rationing, savings bonds, and saddle shoes....then I would be right in tune with it.

Doctor appointment this afternoon and for once it is a nice, sunny day.  Most unusual...it is usually rainy on my doctor days.   ::)

Good morning from an Interior at minus one. Morning chores and meet and greets are finished and coffee is brewing.

Thanks for correcting me, MG, the only part of Reagan I'm really familiar with was his idea of trickle-down economics.

Cats can't tell us what's ailing and instinctively try to hide it. Could stress be an issue? I hope that you're able to find out what it is soon.

Could you take a couple of days off and rest up with only light work? With all that's going on, you don't want to over do and injure yourself. I know you will be fine, moving never goes as easy as we'd wish, even with all of our plans.

Good morning, Jane, enjoy your day with Cooper. Phyllis, did you post your custard recipe in the What's For Dinner, folder?

Good morning to all who drop in this morning, and I hope that everyone's day is as you want it.

Shan seems to be fine for the moment. He was real peppy this morning and chased the red laser dot with extra energy. The rental manager is having the show apt. floor redone, so it has been really noise here for the last three days. Oscar was even a little perturbed by the noise. The first day he waited until afternoon before deciding to "say" something about it. He headed for the wall and pawed at it, then looked at me with big eyes. There is only one guy doing all this work, and he kept going until around 6:30pm each day. He is still doing work today, I see.

Well, back to shelving books and sorting paperwork, not to mention laundry.

Quiet weekend around here.  We washed windows on Saturday as the weather was wonderful.  I did more supervising than work and it still wore me out. I can not believe how out of shape I am😩 I tuckeri out much too quickly‼️ I am trying to do more and more, of course, but these two shoulder just do not like to cooperate.  My surgery sure would have been a breeze if I did not have these shoulder issues.

I wish you all a good day.

I'm ready to hit the haystack.  I'm not sure if I'll have Cooper tomorrow.  Frankie wasn't feeling so good when she went home today.  If she doesn't feel better tomorrow morning, she'll be staying home.  It's not a good idea to take germs to your job when you work in a hospital!

I have lots planned for tomorrow.  If it all gets done, I'll be happy....and tired.  If some of it gets done, that seems to be life these days!

So nice to see all of you and hear how your day goes!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way...and come by and say "HI"!

We are to reach a high of 53° today! Nice weather but I am sure we will pay for it.

Today we are off to see the kids and maybe go over to another little town to pick up a few things.

Jenny, every job needs a white hat (boss) know you would rather be the worker but enjoy this position for now.

Jane, I am with you on that theory, if it gets done...fine if not another it may get done.

Patricia, my custard didn't get made :( I was on the phone trying to find a home for a lift chair, hardly used and all it needed was a new home. Found one and they will deliver when time is right!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Yep, AMY, if it gets done it gets done!  If it doesn't, tomorrow is another day....or maybe not!

I don't know if I'm going to have Cooper today.  Frankie hasn't called yet to say how she feels and if she's staying home from work.  But my theory is, if she didn't call when she got up, she's getting ready to go.  We shall see!  I'm dressed for our walk and I finished my breakfast.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Make it your own in every way.  And stop by here for a visit!  One of my projects today is cookies.  If they get made, I'll bring some by to share!

Jane , our day has been scrapped. Kyle isn't up for the long drive......he pulled some muscles yesterday and they are letting him know to stay put!  I have lots of things to do today so will get attem!!

Cookies...did you say cookies!!!  Oh boy, one never says no to cookies!!

Well, Cooper's not coming!  Frankie did stay home today and I did make cookies.  But I made the dog cookies first.  I put a couple of them in a dish on the counter and if you think your doggie might try them, help yourself.  They are 100% healthy.  All that's in them is plain peanut butter, bananas, and oatmeal.  The people cookies are next but I'm going to go for a walk first!  They'll be there around supper time!  Get on with your day!

AMY,  I'm sorry Kyle isn't feeling well.  When you hurt, you don't feel like doing anything.  I hope he feels better soon!

Good morning from an Interior at minus twelve and 7:55 am. All the morning chores and meet and greets have been done and coffee's made with my first cup sitting in front of me.

I hope Amy, that Kyle feels better soon with some rest and Jane, I hope that Frankie does as well.

And good morning, especially to those reading and not posting. I hope your day is going well.

Well, my day isn't going as planned. My Amazon order was said to be out for delivery today and supposedly delivered at 10:27 this morning. As all packages are left at Security, and mine wasn't, this is patently not so.

Amazon says wait a couple of days after re-checking tracking info before re contacting them.

The last time this happened, some years ago, it was another four weeks until a replacement package arrived.

I am not happy.

This will be a shortie.  I broke a jar today and cut my finger in the process. i ended up in the emergency room at the hospital and came home with 3 stitches and a major bandage on the index finger of my left hand.  Hard to type so i'm not going to.  Sleep well!

Busy day (for me) today. Had a dental visit, and a well needed haircut. We beat the rain, which has started and is forecast through tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you cut your finger, Jane. When I cut my finger, years ago, it was a trip to the emergency room (we were new to the area and didn't yet know about the emergency clinics open in the area) and four stitches. That was from a very sharp knife. I didn't even feel it until I saw the blood. Did they wrap you up all in blue and have you lay on the surgical table? They did for me. The surgeon was a jolly type and laughed half way through the stitching process when I expressed incredulity that they actually had to treat a finger like a major surgery event.

Rammel, I hope your dental appointment went well; my dental appointment is on Friday. I broke a tooth. Part of it split off several weeks ago, the rest came out yesterday. That still leaves the base to be removed. Oddly, no pain. Somehow the break missed the nerve. What annoys me is that the oral surgeon's office had me down for an evaluation for an implant and not for the tooth extraction. That surely explains why they had me waiting so long while the rest of the top of my tooth just hung loose. The first appointment I had rescheduled because of snow. The doctor sure would have been surprised to find I needed an extraction when he was expecting a consultation. Apparently they don't do both surgery and consult at the same time. In all of this, I was also surprised that my regular dentist wouldn't do the extraction and sent me to an oral surgeon instead. My insurance only pays for a "simple" extraction at the dentist's office, but not at an oral surgeon's office. An, of course, an implant is not covered at all.

On my agenda, but not until this move is finally completed: badly needed haircut and new brake pads on the front wheels of the car. Getting ready to do my taxes. I had hoped to have the move complete and the house up for sale by then.

Monday I got my new microwave. Today I get my grocery order and a printer stand. The printer stand matches a shelving unit I have in the room, black metal. I like when I can get something to match. I've had the shelving unit for years.

Oscar seems to have reverted to kittiehood. He has taken to loudly announcing it is past 3AM and he would like breakfast. This move has activated both cats. Shan insists on playtime after breakfast. I guess the house had gotten boring. Oh, I met another one of my neighbors yesterday. On the way back from the trash bin, I stopped to talk to him while he was tending his flower garden. The yew bushes around his patio are full of sparrows just sitting there peeking out from their perches if not disturbed. And yes, he feeds the birds (and squirrels, though I haven't seen them). Now I know to look for the Blue Jays, which I haven't seen since I moved from the house previous to the one I own now.

Good morning

Been raining most of the night and it is still making puddles out ther! Just think of all the ice that is going to make! :(

Picking up Kyles med this morning then home to compleye what didn't get done yesterday. I seem to do a lot of that lately.

We enjoyed Phyllis's baked custard with raspberries on it last night for dessert.

Jane .OUCH!!!  Now you will end up banging that finger no matter  what you do.Murphy's Law.

Rick, bet it feels good to have a haircut. Kyle always feels much better when he gets his done.

MG...that really makes sense on the saying put your money where your mouth is!! Never did we realise just how much money is going to be spent on oral work!!

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

That haircut feels extra good. I have not had one since back in early September because of the after affects of a shingles case. Just now being able to wear a shirt and a jacket to go out.
IMHO - Everyone that hasn't done it yet should get the Shingles Vaccine.
The dentist was also a put off item - a small cavity. Looks like MarsGal is in for a big event with her dental crew. Teeth with a complex root get referred to an Oral Surgeon. My son has a similar problem and is in the middle of the Surgeon/Dentist game for implants. A little fun for everyone.

Hokey teddy bear ,it is pouring down!! Glad I am inside looking out! Lots of pudding  in the yard.mini skating rinks if it freezes tonight.

Rick, I agree!! Get that shingle shot!!  My friend had them under her nails and into her hair, another had them across her back which left a big scar.

Oh oh, power may go out...better get ready just in case it does..

Good morning from the Interior at minus nineteen.

Phyllis, thanks for the recipe link, I've bookmarked it.

Rick, a haircut sounds good. I've been trimming my own for a number of years between haircuts. I'm one who needs a shingles shot. I have the others, but am needle phobic. So I always need to push myself.

Jane, I'm sorry to hear of your stitches, and hope you're feeling better soon!

I don't remember if I've ever had stitches, but my sister spent most of her childhood falling into, out of and on to something, so has had plenty.

MG, it sounds as if 2024 will be a year to remember, and I hope everything levels out soon for you.

One thing this state did right, in my opinion, is to outlaw those insurance schemes where you pay a separate doctor for each little thing. There are no co-pays here.

One thing we do have via the five close military bases is a lot of retired military medical staff, doctors and dentists because we have a higher cost of living. They can make more locally than stateside.

Amy, I hope it is a quick cloudburst rather than a long-drawn-out downpour! We have ice here, and it's slippery out there when it warms up, freezes and warms up again.

Amy, it always seems that each day has something needing to be done. I had planned to redo a cupboard for my 28-piece lidded set of glass storage dishes. I've finally committed to getting rid of my plastic sets.

Of course, since Amazon and USPS have messed up, I'm waiting to see if they suddenly appear today. If not, it will be a re-order and another wait. I find the older I get, the less patience I have.

And to tell me, again, that they were delivered at 10:27 yesterday only makes me angry. This is a locked building and any packages have to be dropped off at the security office. They are not left outside or in a hallway.

Just when I thought it was safe to get back  on........the lights have started to flicker again. We did lose power for a bit but it came right back on. Gave Babe the Rescue Remedy but it doesn't seem to be working as well as the first time.  Will just have to hug her up. :)
We are experiencing very high winds here now, the rain has stopped. Temp is to plummet to 10° F this evening. Here comes the skating rinks!

Pat,  - I could trim my beard and a bit in front of my ears, but how in the world do you trim what is more or less behind you? Now the important part - DON"T PUT OFF THE SHINGLES SHOT. The after results of shingles has brought me 5 months of misery. Shingles damages nerves. Just the slightest touch on my upper chest, shoulder, or side of my neck hurt like H---. Been through several jars of pain relief cream (to get some sleep). You don't want it, especially at our age when healing is not as good/fast as when we were young.  FEAR THE SHOT? -- just look the other way and relax your arm. No matter how you measure it, the minute of anguish over the shot is worth the time after having shingles.         Amen

Thanks Rick, I do plan to get the shot. I have had several friends and family members whose urgings have not been as polite as yours.

On the hair cuts, I use a comb and pull it to just a little less than an inch or less. I then use a small pair of hair cutting scissors to cut that piece below the comb's edge. I take my slow time, feel around a lot, and trim. I use a large hand mirror to see the back in front of the sink and mirror.

Still no package, now they want me to wait until after four pm to file a claim.

We had almost 3 days of 90 degree temps with sunshine too.  Today it's back in the 40's with rain expected tomorrow.
Could be worse, the Texas Panhandle is experiencing wildfires which may cover up to 60 counties.  Also, for the Oklahoma Panhandle, so watch out Callie.

Rammell, my doc has been after me to get the Shingles shot, but for various reasons, I've put it off.  She also said you have to have two (2) shots.  I don't mind the "shot" itself, that's momentary, it's the reactions from the shots I worry about.  I lucked out with the first sets of Covid shots, hardly any problems--sore arm.  Guess I had better make an appointment to get "shingled". I have a good friend who got the shingles and she had a terrible time, much like you did, for months.  I don't need any pain...I have some arthritis, which is plenty pain for me.

Tomereader - Don't put it off. Any reaction has to be better than the alternative. Ask a Dr or druggest how often there is an adverse reaction.

Good morning

The high winds have died down and the temps have also died down to 2°F.
Working around home after a trip to town to pick up some lumber.

Listen to Rick, get your shots!!! I never took any vacinations for flu, shingles and now covid figuring my system could fight them off. When I saw my friends scared back from the shingles and listened to the stoires of pain, Kyle and I both got vaccinated. With Kyles compromised immune system I now get the flu and all of the covid shots as well as him. He also gets the pneumonia shot as well. Amen.

Jane, hunt and peck works, just don't peck and hurt your finger.

Tome, saw the devastation from th wild fires..pray for rain, minus lightening!

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, minus twenty-three degrees here at 8:56 this morning. We're still in the frigid zone, which is to alleviate beginning on Sunday.

My Amazon package never arrived and after some push and pull, it was reordered and due to arrive in two weeks plus having me sign an agreement to pay freight if the original package arrives sooner.

I'm not happy with the slower shipping time or the inference that I tried to pull something because their message said delivered to my mailbox on the 27th at 10:27 am. I explained that all packages in my secured building are not left somewhere but at the inside security office, and they grudgingly agreed to re-ship.

Otherwise, all is the same, morning chores and meet and greets are done, and it's on to see what the day brings.

Amy, we had a strange thunderstorm here about an hour ago.  First lots of thunder, a few big lightning strikes and then tiny little hail/sleet for several minutes.  I saw on the news while ago that several places up near the wildfires has snowfall.  Don't think it helped, and certainly won't linger.

Okay, dear friends, I shall get the Shingles shot.  My doctor will thank all of you! And so will I!

Minus 23° is way too cold!!  We are now at 16° with high winds.

Jane, this is what I found.

Is February 29th Sadie Hawkins Day?
Sadie Hawkins Day - Wikipedia
Date. The date for Sadie Hawkins Day most commonly reported is November 13, two days before the first appearance in the comics. The date has on occasion been confused for February 29 (Leap Day), the date for Bachelor's Day according to the original Irish tradition of women being allowed to propose marriage.

Rick.. AMEN.....one down.... one to go.

Tome, wise move...

Patricia.........you can do it!!!
