I stare at a blank page. Concentrating.
What could I possibly write?
What words powerful enough exist?
to express how I truly feel.

 I hold the phone.  Pondering.
What could I possibly say?
What spoken word would be enough?
to convince you of the my endless love.

I sit with my head in my hands. Wondering.
What could I possibly do?
What actions would undoubtedly prove?
that you are my everything.

If love were a tear drop,
my love for you would drown the world.

Shadows
Anna Alexander

there are shadows in my room
shadows of things past
shadows in the corner's gloom
shadows of things that do not last

shadows of things past
shadows born for doom
shadows of things that do not last
shadows of life's loom

shadows born for doom
shadows lost loves cast
shadows of life's loom
shadows nailed to my hearts mast

shadows lost loves cast
shadows in the corners gloom
shadows nailed to my hearts mast
there are shadows in my room

Mandolins in the Moonlight
Perry Como

(Mandolins in the moonlght!
Beautiful music of love!)

We're not in Venice,
In a gondola,
Beneath the skies of blue,
And yet it seems we're there signorina
An' I'm close to you!

'Cause I hear mandolins in the moonlight,
Mandolins in the moonlight!
See what magic you start?
A song of Italy sings
In perfect tune with the strings
Of my heart!

We won't be tossin'
Coins in the fountain
Down in Rome tonight
And yet my dreams come true signorina
When you hold me tight!

'Cause I hear mandolins in the moonlight,
Mandolins in the moonlight!
See what magic you start?
A song of Italy sings
In perfect tune with the strings
Of my heart!

Now, here's the way
They whisper "I love you"
Down in Napoli
"ti voglio bene mia signorina"
And thata goes for me!

'Cause I hear mandolins in the moonlight,
Mandolins in the moonlight!
See what magic you start?
A song of Italy sings
In perfect tune with the strings
Of my heart!

Mandolins in the moonlight,
Beautiful music of love!

A gully washer storm went through last night but this morning is bright and sunny with temp's very pleasant.
Neighbor is due to have a couple of evergreen trees removed today. That's a good thing and a bad thing. While I like the trees, they hang over my car and drop needles into the vent and occasional sap spots. The roots are also ruining my driveway which we re-black topped about 5 years ago. Definitely creating a trip hazard.  So - something to watch when they get here.
EVERYONE --- PLEASE be careful of falling.

Checking in on this Good Friday, running late & later. It is 51° with bright sun and not as much wind as been lately. All good reads, Bubble, and great graphics from both of you! Those are the most soothing colors in both of them, compliment each other. Thank you!

Heard on the radio that "gas prices have dropped a little". Good news so maybe we can all heave a sigh of relief as Covid becomes a "normal" illness & we go back to rules were made for everyone, you think? Well, little by little.

Bubble, loved the story about the twins. Twins have always fascinated me, even if not identical. ONWARD!

Good morning  everyone.

AMY  you  know you cannot keep a good French lady down for long. I do still have some aches from the way I fell but really OK.

LLOYD  like you my traveling days are over. Even going to my son's home-10 minutes from here is tiresome.

SHIRLEY  I have S&F set as home page so it always brought me to my last post but since March first it brings me to when Bubble set that page up for March. I am getting tired  of getting used to the way things are and they go and change things to make it better for them but not for us folks of a "certain age" who have a hard time getting used to changes. I joined the Jacquie Lawson greeting cards almost when she first started and now after 20 years it is changed and I could not find the Easter cards I wanted to send and one to post here. Every time I found one I liked I could not get to it to send. Guess I will not join it again. Might give it another try before I send her my ideas about the big changes.

JENNY  God bless your Dad. 98 sure is a long  time  alive. Just imagine all of life's changes he has seen. My parents both died at age 69, that seems to be the longevity in my family. One thing I know my Mom would love is Skype and keeping in touch talking and seeing her descendants. My Dad would love watching all the Western movies on TV.

PATRICIA  I have a life alert and of course it called when I fell and tole them I was OK and did not need he rescue ambulance. I have just changed to a different one.  The one I had woke me at midnight on the landline. Phone kept ringing till I picked it up. Crazy. I went back to bed and then I heard a noise at my door. My family know to never call after 9pm, scares me. Well it was the ambulance here they opened my door and came to find me-I had my rollator and walking OUT OF The bedroom Scared seeing this big man coming in. They had called the fire station-about 1 mile away. He said they called and told him that I kept hitting the button    never said anything. I asked how I could push the button when  I was asleep. I could not sleep with it around my neck. I kept it on the rollator at night. HE kept after me and I kept telling him the same thing. Finally he and partner left. Once again my    phone rang. My son who lives less than 3miles from me. He was down stairs and I let him in. HE WAS all upset and worried, they called him, too. Next day I called and cancelled it. A man kept trying to talk me out of it but I told him if they can wake me in the middle of the night when I was sound asleep  once they could do it again. The new one only has to get  charged  once a month.

JANE  so good to see your good night from your phone.

PHYLLIS  about the only thing really still hurting it my left shoulder that was almost replaced about 10 years ago until United Health dropped that group of Orthopedic surgeons.

BUBBLE  love the graphics.
Phyllis, cute puppy all warm and cozy inside and the beautiful Cardinal outside.

RICK  where I parked my car when  lived at my son's house I had to park under 1 hemlock  and several pine trees. They goofed when they came out with the Chevy Corsica there was no plug to drain water-needles from that vent. That MODEL was only made 2 years but mine lasted me for 20 years before it rotted out from the floor up.

My grandson and great grandson were here. He had ordered me a new Kindle when he last worked on the PC. Had it delivered to his house so he could set it up. So much smaller that the old one I had. about the size of a paperback book. Now I do not have to look for a book downstairs or sit here t the computer and read a book I know I will enjoy.

JANE  hope time is going fast for you without your computer.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, sunny skies but cooler at 24 this Am. We were at 50 degrees last night, and until the 18th, our highs will be in the twenties. Yesterday, instead of the promised snow, it rained all day. And the graders spent all day shoveling the streets right down to the pavement. If possible, they've asked everyone in the lower passes to stay off the roads until road crews can do the same removals there.

Bubble, I'd seen the story about the first set of biracial twins but not the second set, thank you. Genes are amazing; the parents are biracial, and to have two sets where the genes aligned right down the middle must be astronomical odds. I grew up with a large biracial family, except the mother was white and Scottish, and the father was English and Athabaskan Indian. The nine kids were very different in coloring, facial features, or body build. The only trait they all shared was an interest in art.

Another amazing feature of genes is learning how and why they do what they do. I learned that it takes over 3,900 genes simply to create those little sparkly bits people have in their irises.

Well, ----The trees are down now and it doesn't look so bad. Because it was so nice out today I took the opportunity to sit in the front porch rocker for a while and just take in the new view of the neighborhood.  It's now the way it was years ago before the trees grew. Just a lot more cars. I recall when they (the trees) were only about five feet tall.  Didn't take more than a couple of hours and they cleaned up well.

This has been an interesting afternoon. High winds and rain , power out, trees bending ,flag poles breaking and a neighbours portable shelter ended up in our back yard!

Power has been returned ,trees are sighing with relief and  neighbours shelter is still in our back yard to be returned tomorrow  hopefully in better weather.

Talked with Jane earlier and she is missing  being here but as she said she is getting a lot of work done. Knowing Jane she is going like a house on fire !! If you're peeking in Jane, enjoy your company and give both doggies a hug from me.

Time to put my feet up.

Enjoy your evening and take care.

This has been an interesting time!! Power went out at 9:10 pm last night and has just now came back on.

We ended up having a neighbours portable garage blow over the 8 foot fence and  into our yard!

I  am going to make this short as I am not sure it won't go out again....although no high winds at the moment.

Nice to have our power back. :smitten:

Good afternoon I am really here late today. Son was here and talkative this morning, unusual for him.

RICK  LAST TIME I fell was about 15 years AGO ON SLIPPERY SNOW. At least it was a soft landing. I crept to my stairs and grabbed the railing and pulled myself up. That was when I had an apartment in my son's house and could still climb stairs. I was glad my CNA was here Wednesday. I would have had to get to my rollator and get my cell phone out of the side pocket and call help--my son. life line on charge and pockets too small for phone.

PATRICIA  genes are amazing, No one in my family lived beyond 60 and I keep wondering why I have lived to be 91. The last of a BIG family. Crazy genes as far as I can see.

AMY  I would love to be working around in here-not like a house afire-those days are long gone but would love to clean, moving furniture away from the walls and cleaning in back of it. Most will not even move my computer chair to get under it and the desk. The chair is on wheels and easy to move.

LLOYD  I remember my Mom sending me into the yard with a bag and telling me to pick all the dandelion leaves, she would wash them and cook them as part of supper.

Think I will go down and check mail and return book to library.
JANE  another day of no PC but a day closer to having it back.
Have a good rest of the day and stay safe.

:balloons:  :hb2:  :cake: OH, missed your birthday, Gloria... Hope it was happy and a good visit with all your kids!  :hb3:  :hb2:

We also ate "dandelion greens" mixed with our leaf lettuce, spinach & endive, had pretty healthy plants and we knew it was good for us! Ate it with a teaspoon of sugar to tablespoon of vinegar ratio (with big bowl it took 3-6 spoons full each) & when all stirred up the steaming hot bacon bits & grease poured over to wilt. My mouth waters thinking about it.

Lots to do yet tonight & still haven't eaten my last meal of the day. Gets later every day. Wishing all a Happy Easter & "chag Pesach samech" (I looked that up). Hope all have happy memories of years past to think about.

Good morning..

A beautiful Sunday morning here starting with a temp of 25° and no high winds! Woke to the sound of loons calling back and forth across the lake , now they are back for the summer.

Must admit it is nice to have full power on, makes one appreciate it. Although we do have a generator to hook up it doesn't supply all the items needing power. The water pump in the well is on it but not the water heater so you have to put a pot of water on the cookstove.

Shirley, some ate the leaves and flowers and some used the flowers for dandelion wine.....multipurpose plant.

Patricia, we did have a flurry of snow last night.didn't stay but also not welcomed.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Happy Easter to  you..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, 29 now and last night's low. We had some more rain last night, but today is clear. Roads are down to the pavement, and melting accelerates and shows all those dirty grays and browns. The snowpacks are diminishing in the foothills across from me, and we've entered the ugly part of the spring season where all the discards over winter come to light. This now was what once was April's beginnings.

Good afternoon. Seems like I get here later every day. The way I have been sleeping I will be awake all night and sleeping all day. NO it is not from the fall last week, this has been going on for over a month now. I always love to sleep and a nap in the afternoon has always been enjoyed.

AMY Thank you but did you have to tell everyone it was my birthday?  IT REALLY IS JUST  ANOTHER DAY. Important days were getting to 21 then getting to the age when we can retire from the daily grind of working for others and retiring and finally doing what we want as long as we are healthy.

SHIRLEY  another year but only a day older.

BUBBLE  2 I cannot remember. The one by Rae and Pat  and the one between Bunnie and me=all I can think of for that one is Jeanne.

As if I did not get enough sleep already I am yawning again. Wow the sun finally showed up.

Happy Easter to one and all.
Have a good day and stay safe.

PHYLLIS  I was thinking it might be Karren but could not remember the name.

For a change I was asleep early last night and this morning back to waking early. When I pulled up the shade in the bedroom a little while ago every thing is covered in frost.

Have a good Monday, not a blue one except for a blue sky. Stay safe.

Beautiful bright day out but temp is only 18°F at the moment. Need a run into town  then home to do laundry. Another chore is grating up blocks of cheese to freeze for later, thank goodness for Hank.(kitchen aid mixer) he does all the heavy work and I get to keep the skin on my knuckles!

Good morning everyone! We had a great day yesterday with the family together. I miss them all already!

We're supposed to get a rainy day today! I was hoping it would be a nice day today. I'm just sitting around waiting for the guys to bring my computer back! I think it's going to be a while because one of them just called me to ask about putting a certain program on it. I have a feeling it's gonna take me a while to get used to it.

Amy, my SIL the bird expert told me the birds on my birdfeeder or finches but I also have another one and he told me what it was but it it's name escapes me. It's black but not as big as a crow and it has figured out how to hang onto the side of the birdfeeder.

Now I have to go put clothes in the dryer and fold another load I'm on my fourth load waiting for the guys. I wish you all a happy day better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

HAPPY EASTER AND PASSOVER, too 🐣🐥

We enjoyed a beautiful day and a wonderful Easter meal with our son and the children.  We are so blessed to have this family in our lives🙏🙏. Yesterday was 10 months since our Beautiful Michele passed away😩🙏

GLORIA, my mom, too, would have enjoyed the internet so much.  She did extensive geniology searches  by mail and it cost her a small fortune to do it and sadly it did not yield her the best results either.  Now it is so easy.  Just the thought of her seeing and talking to her family on line makes me cry that she never had this chance😩😩

AMY, sorry to read about you being without power fr so long.  Yes, it really makes you appreciate it when it comes back on!  This and being withou5 running water like we had awhile back🤪🤪. I posted a picture to our family yesterday of a Easter Sunday snowstorm back in 2016!  It was a beautiful day yesterday, but quite often we will have snow on Easter.

JANE, holding good thoughts for your computer returning home son‼️

All of the kind words to me regarding my latest medic@l issues I am dealing with sure make me feel blessed to have the wonderful support f you all.  I thank you from the bottom of my heart🥰🥰

We will be with the grands again the next two weeks as Dr. Dave has to travel more.  We feel privileged to be able to help him out.  We just hope our Ggod Lord will give s the strength to do our best job🤪🤪. The children are pretty self sufficient, but getting them up and moving in the morning and driving them to school is definitely needed.  Dave always plans easier meals and buys everything so even getting dinner ready is as easy as it can possibly be.  He is a wonderful and extremely thought dad/son. 🥰🥰

Our Boston Family are vacationing in Washington DC this week.  Sadly, the youngest grandson , 12 yo, managed to twist his ankle in his soccer game Saturday and has a hairline fracture in gis growth plate and is walking with a boot🤪🤪 Not a good time for this as we all know the walking that will be required‼️

My best to EVERYFRIEND‼️

Jenny

Good Afternoon,

A beautiful large butterfly was flitting around the holly tree as I was eating lunch.  It was black with blue at the base of its wings.  Didn't think I could zoom in enough to take a picture from the window and didn't have on the right shoes to try and go out to the tree.  So I hope it comes back.

Our family gathering was an early dinner on Saturday.  Family brought ham, scalloped potatoes, fresh green beans, carrots, and hot rolls.  I made the favorite chocolate dessert and a dump cake with apple pie filling and butter pecan cake mix.

Miss Emily and Sir Carson brought their "Plus Ones" and Emily used FaceTime to get Miss Ellen on her phone so she could "be" in the family pictures.  Lots of good chatter, good food and good fun.

Speaking of the "favorite chocolate dessert".  Neighbor had brought me some back copies of "Southern Living" magazine.
There was an article in the August 2021 issue about the author's "Mamaw Ouida" from Mississippi that included the exact same recipe as I got from OUR Mamaw Ouida who was also from Mississippi!!!  The dessert picture looked a lot better than mine ever does!
(Article starts on page 104 - if anyone has the magazine and wants to look.)

Sunny but chilly in central Oklahoma.

Hope Everyone had a Blessed Easter.

hello every friend! Just had to let you know that we're getting SNOW!! It's coming in great big flakes and it's laying on the ground. So far it's not laying on the roads or the sidewalks!

Also, so far I have not heard from the computer people except for a call this morning telling me they had to use a different program for my email. I'm guessing that's what's taking the extra time. I hope you're all having a good day.

I made a great casserole today from the leftover ham and it was really really tasty! I think I'll keep this recipe. Maybe I'll share it when I get my computer back. Keep on keeping on!

That's it!  Thanks, Patricia.

Difference is that I make a graham cracker crust and leave out the nuts (family's choice) and use chocolate fudge instant pudding mix.  Also makes a 9" or 10" pie.

Checking in, not getting enough sleep at night, not been eating right & think old age & lazy won the battle!  I'm hungry for junk food instead of what's good for me, anyone else ever get in that mood?

Glad to read all the latest in your lives, we had frost warnings for 2 nights but don't see it did much damage around here.  Hope it didn't hurt the fruit trees with everything else going sky high this year.

Janie, you are doing great with your phone.... I am no good trying to get anything done except talking on my phone.  Smart IT is, but not me.

Amy, I remember going with Dad when visiting his home town, guess Mother was helping with the meal, and Dad's friends were always wanting him to taste their latest brew... dandelion wine always on the list. Dad grew hops to brew his fav & would make root beer for us kids. We had a bottle capper I helped with (when under 6, before WWII & a move)

Callie, 'tis the time for all the migrating critters, so far only a few moths thru here. We rarely see that black swallowtail butterfly but always feel like it's a rare diamond when I do. I'll be watching.

Jenny, it does seem longer than that since you lost Michele, been a strange & sad couple years with funerals being almost feared because of Covid. So glad you & Bob are able to help with the kids, do they open up to you about missing their mother?  My mother was 7 when her mother died and for the rest of her life she wondered what it would have been like, and for sure doted on all 5 of us kids the rest of her life. She adored her father & he did see to it the kids were all close/helped with each other.

Gloria, my days & nights are mixed up all the time, usually eating supper about 10:00pm & that makes getting to bed near midnight. Sure can't make up sleep or get anything done during the day.

Phyllis, our high was low 50s today & felt very cold, no rain but felt damp. I'm ready for a warm enough day to open up the house!

Cats needed attention & my daughter called & talked a long time, trash comes by in the morning so had to put the dumpster to the street & next door neighbors stopped to visit. Bless their hearts, they brought me another dozen & half "free range" eggs... because their chickens visit me nearly every day & they are so happy I don't complain. I had to admit that I go out with bread to feed them when they come over. I do enjoy chickens so they are always welcome, I don't spray my bugs & they are welcome to them. I forgot I had this started about 3 hours ago. I'm just now eating some chicken noodle soup for my supper, crazy hours, huh?

Patricia, sure hope this latest Covid doesn't keep y'all confined all summer. Do you have a place easy to get to outside where you can visit?  I dread getting rid of the motorhome because it has been my escape the last nearly 8 years. Hard to think we are really at a stage others are concerned about us. I have been "fiercely independent" all my life so I am not comfortable with anyone thinking I can't handle whatever I face. I don't have any trouble backing the elephant into any camp site & so far never put a scratch on it, had it in & out to get the new tires put on & do the moving around so the guys working on it don't have to move the seat each time.... with my short legs they have trouble getting in under the steering wheel! Anyway, hope you get a break from Covid & the super cold soon. Sounds like you have a nice bunch of friends to visit with.

Lloyd, you haven't come back to tell about your Easter gathering. Or did I miss it?  Know you probably had lots of food & when there is family, that's what is important.

Hugs to all, God Bless & sweet dreams. Almost 10:00pm & my soup & bed awaits!

Good afternoon, Shirley, it is finally warming up, and the snow on the roads was mushy with the rain we've had. The city snow crews shoveled down to the pavement over the weekend and took it from the streets to wherever they store it.

You can see the results of rapid melting but still dirty browns and grays. We didn't have that much snow before the winter of 2020/2021, and Easter was usually 70 degrees or close to it, with summer officially in the first part of May with planting on Memorial Day.

Gloria, mine is supposed to be charged every few days or so. But, for efficiency, I charge my cell phone, my MedicAlert, and my Kindle each evening as I set the alarms. The only one called with the alert is the center at the closest hospital. Although the majority of folks here are low-income and get a rental break, the state insists we're an independent building and doesn't want or need to get involved in the day-to-day business.

One final note about yesterday's discussion on genes: My father and his family were tall, with straight, fine hair; even the women were 6' with the men 6' 3"-4" and 5", dark, and built as only farmers can be. My mother's family was small and slight, with tight curls and the women were under five feet with the men topping at 5'7"-5'8". Everyone was either dark with red tones or simply red-headed on both sides.

As for the blending, my two sisters were 6' and 6'1" and tanned by adulthood. Both had tight red afros, brown eyes, and a lean build. I was the middle child with fine, straight, strawberry blonde hair, no tan, very blue-eyed, pale-skinned, and stopped at 5'6". My younger sister's daughter grew to 5'5," and my daughter grew to 5'11". My sisters looked like my father's side, and I looked like my mother's side, and people questioned our relationship as I looked nothing like the other two!

good morning every friend! We had snow enough to to coat everything and it's lying on the roads and grass and roofs trees!

Cooper is here he's had his breakfast. And now he's begging mine. I guess we'll be going for a walk in the snow one of these hours. I'm already dressed and waiting for the computer guy to call. I sure hope it's today! I feel like I'm out in limbo!

I wish you all a good day better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow. And I wish the snow away for the season!

Good morning...

I think Mother Nature is off her meds......we also have a blanket of snow!! This started about 1:10 last night but has stopped for now.

A day of catch up here.......do we really ever catch up??One thing leads to another then another.

Need to get a birthday card in the mail. A young man is turning 17 in May and has proved the Drs wrong as they said he would die two years ago! All that is asked is that I put our location in the card..

Callie and Patricia, now you have started something, that pie looks delicious and one I am going to try!

Better skedaddle..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning  everyone. Yesterday's forecast called for up to 2 inches of rain and wind at 40 with gusts of 45 mph.  The last forecast showed it as a south east storm so it hit the southern end of the state more than here but it is still raining here, steady but light rain and not much wind.

AMY  I know what I will be eating for a few days, some left over ham and some Pierogies that Mike and Shirl made. All I have to do is fry them in butter till crisp on the outside. Yummy.

CALLIE  I used to make scalloped potatoes every time I cooked ham. just seemed to go together.

JENNY  some years here the kids would be riding their bikes at Christmas and sliding down the hills on their sleds at Easter. One year when Easter was early I took a picture of them in their snowsuits with the Easter bunnies my MIL gave them for Easter. The pile of snow by the stairs was higher than Regina, she was about 3 then.

SHIRLEY  it is impossible for me to cook a real meal anymore and I know I am not eating right with all the food I should. When I feel hungry I just grab whatever I have in the fridge, freezer (more ice cream) or in the cupboard. A couple of the CNAs I will have cook for me but others I would not eat anything they put their hands on. I have to keep reminding them to wash their hands when they come in here. I don't know what their hands have touched, all door handles are dirty and to are the buttons for the elevator.

CALLIE and PATRICIA  OH YOU ARE TERRIBLE. I want a big piece of that cake. I had the CNA coming today make up a package of brownie mix. I made sure she could make it before she started, I could not stand and watch her. Used the wrong baking dish and was 1/4 inch thick and hard as  cement. Had to throw it all away of course. I don't have many teeth left but I still have my sweet tooth.

JANE  I got an email from Cox last week telling me they are dropping that email because I had not used it in almost a year.  That email program dropped me almost 2 years ago. Think Cox if SLOW except for sending their bill out every month? I think anything made with ham is very tasty Ham is my favorite meat however it it prepared. If you decide to share that recipe for the casserole I WANT it, PLEASE!

SHIRLEY  I was always independent and helped others and now I need the help my sons do not seem to realize I need help now especially with cooking. They will buy me TV dinners and I tell them to read the ingredients and they will know why I dislike them.  I like fresh food  not a lot of chemicals.

PATRICIA  my phone is seldom turned on, I still rather use the landline I shut the cell off at night so it does not wake me up My new Kindle is supposed to keep a charge for a month but the way I have been using it it will need a charge soon.

I started this almost 3 hours ago, about time I posted it and went and got dressed before the CNA gets here. Hope I can find something to keep her busy for 4 hours-not trusting her to cook or bake either after that brownie mix.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Cold, rainy, and windy here. About 40°F here. I see some parts hanging off my neighbor's house so I guess the night was fairly blustery.  Hopefully it will clear off later. Dentist at 1100 so would like it nice for driving.

Hello Everyfriend!  I'm greeting you from my new computer!  The guy just left about a half hour ago and I'm going to be spending some time getting used to it.  You are my very first communication!  I think I'm going to like this!

I remember about the ham casserole and I intend to put it in the recipe folder...maybe tomorrow.  I'm also going to print the chocolate dessert from CALLIE by way of PATRICIA.  And now I'm going to try posting this and see what happens.

BY THE WAY, the snow is almost all melted and gone.  The only patches left are where the snow plows delivery their loads.

JANE, so glad for you having your new computer to use today‼️  YIPPEE‼️

My YIPPEE for the day is....

My sleep doctor appointment went better than I could have ever hoped for ..... I am going to get a portable oxygen concentrator as soon as they have one available.

I will not be doing a in hospital sleep study as told last week, rather my Doc will have me do one at home in six weeks that will just monitor my oxygen saturations.

I eill return to see the sleep doctor in two months for a re-evaluation.  I hope to be able to tell her I am doing GREAT and put this all behind me‼️

YIPPIE... HAPPY HAPPY🥰.

Today I had PT and my therapist said she noticed a lot of improvement in my shoulder.  I showed her how I can lift it to the side and forward with the support of the table and my bed at home.  She was so excited.....and I was too.  Do you suppose I have entered the turning point FINALLY?  I sure hope so🥰🙏🥰

Yea! Jane's back with her computer & US! :cheer:

Rick, your robin eats raisins and mine eats scrambled/cooked hamburger! I just had to try when I saw a robin with the big white ring around her eyes, maybe one of Missy's babies? She was the robin that hung out with us for 8 years, building nests where she could watch the garage door to see if I was bringing food. She had a big white ring around her eyes.... & I'm guessing this may be one she raised here. I put the hamburger on the post out front & by the time I got inside & looked out the window she was already eating. Cleaned up every bite!

It is dreary, had some sprinkles... enough to get the car muddy, I ran my errands but did not find the "Fairlife" milk that is real milk but processed so much it takes the sting out of the milk so it doesn't bother me OR the cats. Any regular 2% milk gives me a tummy ache & the cats throw it up.... but this Fairlife doesn't bother us. Can't figure why the stores can't get the milk, pretty sure it doesn't come from China.  ::)  What is the world coming to?

I just had lunch (5:30 pm) so will be eating again about 10:00 pm.  I remember we we all talked about "out babies getting their days & nights mixed up"...  my 2nd babyhood.  ;)

Fantastic news, Jenny!  Sometimes our bodies just seem to give in & be nice. Hope every day is better. Are you needing the cpap machine for sleep?

WellI've been playing on this computer almost all the time since the young man left it here.  I have some of it mastered and some of it is on a "do it or lose it" basis.  I'm not sure when I hit the button, if it's going to do what I want it to do or not.

JENNY, I'm so glad you have some good news for us today.  It's about time that arm begins to take directions!  It's been goofing off long enough.  It's time for it to get back to work.  And as for the sleep stuff....keep up the good work!

Our snow is almost all gone by late this afternoon!  And now we have showers.  I don't think I'll have to water the trees we planted on Sunday for a couple days.

Tomorrow, I'll try posting that ham casserole recipe.  I think I can...I think I can...I think I can....

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.  And may he watch over the Ukrainians!

Good morning..

Going to be a busy morning here..have 2 people coming tp pick up 3 trugs. Then we are off to the lumber store for more material to build more.

Jane, bet you are happy that you now have a computer to play with! Thank you for posting the recipe, I do have some ham and will use my canned potatoes in it.

Shirley, what are the chances that robin is a descendent of Missy!! Love seeing critters come back .

Jenny.....sounds like you are finally on the right road to recovery. This has been a long haul and painful haul for you.

Gloria, I do not want anymore snow but I do have to admit it was so pretty on the trees the other morning! We had pork lst night and I opened up a can of sliced apples that I did last year. After the meat was done I put butter in that pan , put the apple slices in and cooked them a few min, dusted them with some cinnamon cooked a bit more and oh my they were so tasty with the pork!!

Lloyd, good morning to you and Nancy.

Rick hope the roads were good  and your dental appointment went well.

Better scoot.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm just here waiting to be picked up by one of my high school classmates.  We've restarted having breakfast together once a month for those of us who are still in the area and anyone who visits.  It's really nice and I'm glad I can go.

It's going to be a sunny day and reach the mid 50s today.  Another teaser....

I'm learning my way around this computer and it kept me up until 11:30 last night checking stuff out!  I think I'm going to like it!  Well, I like it already but it's going to take me some time to get used to it.  Spending time with my computer expert daughter this summer will help!

AMY, you're welcome for the recipe.  I like your apple idea, too.  I'm going to write that one down.  Sounds like Kyle has become the "Trug Champion of Canada".  He's really turning them out!

I guess I better close this for now so Ann Louise doesn't show up and I'm not ready  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning everyone. The sun is trying hard to chase the clouds away. After the rain all day yesterday the sun would really be appreciated today to get the dampness out  of these ole bones of mine.

LLOYD  you have a Harrisville, Mo. and there is a Harrisville, RI, too, just a small village.

JANE  HOORAY you are back in business again. I wish you many happy years with it working the way you want your new PC to be.

JENNY  keep up the good work with that shoulder. I know what it feels like with my left one these days. Tired of living with pain.

AMY  cannot have pork without some form of apples.

Better have my breakfast and get ready for the second best CNA today.

Have a good day and stay safe.

I think we are done with sub-freezing temp's for the year, but even the 35 to 40 temp's can be nasty (with the humidity),

Callie, 'tis the time for all the migrating critters, so far only a few moths thru here. We rarely see that black swallowtail butterfly but always feel like it's a rare diamond when I do. I'll be watching.

Shirley,  this butterfly didn't have the "swallow tail" or the white spots on its wings. I searched for "black butterflies" and found a picture of one that looked similar but didn't copy the link because I really wasn't close enough to get details.  Haven't seen it again but will try to get outside and take a picture if I do.

Rammel, have been meaning to tell you how much I'm enjoying watching the birds on the link to feeders and nests that you posted.  Have watched an owlet from hatching to fledging (leaving the nest) and am trying to keep up with several other types of birds who are setting on eggs.

Janie, so happy you have your new computer and like it. Have fun!

Hello, Busybusy Amy, Lloyd, Gloria, Patricia (who will probably have better luck finding the black butterfly than I did  ;) ) and others.

Wishing Everyfriend a Wonderous Wednesday.

Day is done, gone the sun..........been a busy day around here. Made another pot of chicken & noodles & chicken salad with the rest of the meat. Got enough pecans, walnuts, celery & grapes in the salad this time & tasted pretty good. Got to take a big bowl of the noodles to the frig in the basement. Sent home some of each with my youngest son & fed my daughter when she came in from St.Louis. Three of her grands live in Wichita plus their father (her oldest son) and her youngest daughter. She tries to keep up with all of their activities.

I didn't get a nap so soon as I get the kitchen clean I'm off to bed. I've had 3 (yes, three) updates on the computer today. One update earlier this week has stopped me from getting into the Kroger's site so I am really unhappy about that. Don't want to think about it tonight. No other news from Kansas! Was summer hot today, haven't heard what the high was but my feet were hot so time for sandals. Sweet dreams & God Bless, time for Jane to come tuck us in~~

I also went to breakfast this morning with some of my former high school classmates who are still living in the area.  We talked nonstop and got caught up on who family is where and whet they;re all doing.

Good morning..

Cloudy with the threat of rain today. We are off to the vet today for Babes needles plus I want her to check out a few lumps on Babe.

Yesterday was an interesting day, 3 trugs got on their way to two new homes. One was a Mothers Day gift and reply back was both Mom and Dad loved it!!  Then we went to the lumber store where good things did not happen. We were getting loaded up and I needed to back the van up a bit and it wouldn't start!! Ended up one of the workers gave me a boost and away we went straight to the garage. They they tested everything and couldn't find a problem.  Sure hope it starts this morning.

Better put an egg in my boot and beat it.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's going to sunny most of the day and the temps will be in the high 50s.  Frankie didn't fell well after work yesterday so I got to keep Cooper overnight and I guess it's good we didn't have contact because she felt bad enough this morning to call off work!  I sure hope she hasn't picked up COVID!  She works in the local hospital and the C patients are quarantined and she doesn't go to that area but germs can travel.  She's had shots and booster!

I better go get dressed and take Cooper for a walk.  I'll be making a sad visit later this morning.  My long time, ver good friend is not well.  She's 94 years old and has been hospitalized several times in the last two years.  She's been lucky enogh to be able to stay in her own home for most of this illness thanks to her daughters.  They've called and suggested a visit that could very well be the last time I ever see her.  Please say a prayer for Joyce.  She's one of the best people I've ever been lucky enough to have for a friend!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning everyone, late again today and the CNA is due at 10:30.Wish she forgets to come. 4 hours of her today is 3 hours too much. Another lazy one.  The cars were covered with frost again this morning but will be 60° this afternoon.

RICK  Gosh some of those pot holes escaped from little ole Rhode Island to share with N.Y. Boy are you lucky, one little cavity.

LLOYD  those Gremlins are nasty critters.

CALLIE  I am far from busy but I sure do not enjoy sitting most of the time.

SHIRLEY  I had 3 updates on this Dell  this week and I think it's that Microsoft that either cannot make up their minds(if they have any) or it is the husband of one of my nieces. He was imported from the country that started a war against a neighboring country a couple of months ago and he works at Microsoft.

JANE  nice you and some of your old--oops not old but former High School friends still keep in touch. I know I am being  stinker today.

Better get out of here before I yell an the lazy one sitting there talking to me. Told her to keep busy because I am busy here and will not be talking to her. I want to scream.

Have a good day and stay safe.

The sky opened up and delivered!! I know the ground needs rain as do the lakes, ponds and farmers but some sun would also be nice.

Babe is fine..the lumps are fatty tissue and not what I was thinking. She has lost weight and now down to 73 lbs
and has a ways yet to go. A sigh of relief here . :smitten:

I did not turn the vehicle off ,left it running the whole time we were away. Just hope whatever the problem was has now gone away.

Not sure what will be done for the rest of the day, just know there is always something to do..

Good morning, bright, cloudless, sunny day out there at today's low of 27. Today it's expected to hit 50 degrees, starting a series of them through the month's remainder.

There's nothing new here, only some piddling chores I've been putting off, yet they didn't disappear.

Gloria, I'm sorry you're having so many problems today. I hope it gets better for you.

Amy, vans always seem to have starter problems from what I've heard. I'm glad you were able to get everything completed. I have some planting soil that I covered with poison and a tarp for the winter as  Miracle Growth has been full of gnats lately, and mine was no exception, nasty creatures; last summer, I had to use both stickies and diatomaceous food grade earth (Fossil shell flour). I purchased the food grade as you can mix it with animal feed, but if you put it where insects can get to it, it gets in their carapaces and kills them.

I'm glad for Babe's good news and weight loss! Farrah is holding on to those extra ten pounds she needs to lose per her vet and always looking for more!

Rick, a good checkup that's always nice.

Lloyd, I recently read that walnuts are one of those superfoods, good in your food and full of vitamins.

Jane, I lost a good friend of forty years to Covid, Bea, and she did not make a fuss about it but would be right there with what you needed. She touched so many people in her quiet ways and manner.

I'll be thinking about Joyce and Frankie today and hope things go better for each of them.

Have my appointment for my 4th vaccine/2nd booster next week.

If you did hear a little click when you tried to start it, but no cranking, there could be a "dead spot" in the starter. If the problem randomly repeats have a mechanic or starter shop check the starter.

As the saying goes, "I've got a one track mind today"... & starter problems is on track. My last conversion van started having problems out of the blue, we replaced every electrical reason from starters to belts & beyond for over a year & took it to someone that specialized in starter problems but the d**m vehicle would start at home, let me make 3 stops, restart until the 3rd time & then it was done.

I wouldn't sell or trade it as long as we didn't know what caused this so Cas bought me a new car he thought I'd love & I still wouldn't get rid of the van UNTIL.... son (Andy) had me drive to his house & do the stops before so when he wanted me to turn it off in his driveway I came unglued. He assured me he would get it started so I could go home.

With some testing he proved to himself it was the groundstrap that had come loose. He did a makeshift groundstrap & that puppy started every time I asked it after. Put a "for sale" sign in the window in the driveway... & the guy that came to see just stopped at the door & it hadn't been started for 2 weeks but he was impressed it started on the first try. He got a bargain & hopefully enjoyed for many years.

I'd love to have one exactly like it right now & would get rid of the motorhome & little car. I've checked will the dealers/factories of brands I would like to have but none will sell a stripped van to be converted anymore. It has to go in the garage, I found someone that can do the conversion (been doing warranty work on the motorhome. Anyway, hope you can find the troublemaker on your van, Amy, don't let it go 'cause you can't replace them!

Daughter has been in & out & will be in town until Monday, so super busy week. She helped me orgainze files today, big job but we got it done. Getting dark & I need to run the skin & bones from chicken I cooked yesterday to make the chicken salad & noodles. The critters will eat every speck, even bones. I don't usually go down this near dark, not sure what hides out down there ... I do use a tall walking stick (staff) so have a little protection if needed. Coyotes & fox are fairly common.

A beautiful morning here...no rain in sight.

I listened to the loons into the wee hours last night....more must have come back and they were all getting reacquainted.

Work around home after I go pay a bill is all that is on the agenda.

Rick, that is what I heard, a click then it would try to start then nothing. I think on my trip into town I am going to inquire about a new starter. This would bring peace of mind .

Jane, talking to yourself means you are talking to an intelligent person. That is my excuse. :2funny:

Shirley, this van is set up for the dogs, all the seats down in the back and I can also carry lumber too!

Well I am up , just waiting on my att'em  to show up..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone.  Finally had a good sleep last night and actually feel rested this morning for a change. My brain says get up and get moving  but this worn out old bag of bones tells me to slow down before I end up on the floor. Better listen to that voice. No CNA today so this is a day just for me to do as I want. Sleep the day away? Sit here at the PC and play Mahjong or Jigsaw puzzles or  read a book on my Kindle or if the day turns out nice maybe go outside and sit on the porch and socialize with the others who sit out there.

AMY  the last snow you had must have been like the last one we had. A wet heavier snow than we had all winter. Everything was covered, the bare trees and the pine branches hanging toward the ground. Beautiful. If I could have opened my  windows and screen I would have taken pictures but I lack the strength to open a window more than 3 or 4 inches.

SHIRLEY  you are braver than me. Going down to the river at night alone is something I would never think of doing.  I would not even go out after dark  and sit on the porch alone even with all the lights on out there.  Coyotes have been in this area for about 20 years now and not there has been sightings of black bears around the state. Not safe to go hiking through the woods anymore.

JANE  I will go look for the recipe you posted. I sure do not go to other forums like I used to.

Have a good day and say safe.

Good morning everyone! We've turned a corner with our lows in the middle thirties and highs of fifty. The skies are changing from that pale winter wash of blue to a deeper color and sounds are traveling further in warmer air. We've gotten to the point where the snow lies about in smaller grey clumps here and there. While the blue minibus across the street has gone from snow up to its windows to bare pavement.

I've also noticed the return of light. Last night after ten, it was only beginning to slide into dusk.

"In Fairbanks, Alaska, the first day of April is 13 hours, 43 minutes long. The last day of the month is 17 hours, 4 minutes, so the length of the days gets 3 hours, 20 minutes longer in April 2022."

April first, sunrise 7:02:47 am and sunset: 8:46:25 pm and April thirty-first,  sunrise, 5:15:51 am and sunset 10:20:13 pm.

Good morning..

Geese woke me up, one would think they are flying through the house and not over it!

Cloudy morning here with a temp of 33° F .  Laundry day here and some baking needs to be done. Plus need to finish bagging up the the needles from the pines. If time permits then a trip to the dump.

Jane, hope Frankie feels better and prayers for your friend.

Patricia, tomorrow we are to have a nice day getting up to 68°!! This will feel good after all the cold we have had.

Gloria, I sleep with my window open just a bit and love the fresh air gently blowing in.

Shirley, I think I will be looking into a new starter..not knowing it will or won't start is very nerve wracking.

Tome, thank you will check into that.

Better scoot..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning  everyone. un is shining and I  have the heat turned up again. The heat is usually turned off the beginning of May and some years the maintenance man we had argues with the with that it was too cold for some of the elderly in this building. Thank God Paul won most of the time. He did think about we seniors, he retired last year at 67. The one we have now I would say is in mid  to late 30s and big and rugged.

AMY  WISH THAT RAIN YOU GOT WAS IN ARIZONA. Was surprised when I heard about the fires there already. I worried when my daughter lived in San Diego and now I will worry about fires in San Diego where 2 grandsons still live and daughter and SIL in Arizona. I have never been near a fire but the thoughts of family in the dry areas with little or no rain every year scares me.

My son just called from the lobby and is on the way up.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Here's Why You Might Want to Take Down Your Bird Feeders Right Now
A mysterious illness has been sickening and killing thousands of songbirds in Eastern states. You can help by taking precautions in your yard.

Affected Bird Species and Disease Symptoms
Fledgling blue jays, American robins, common grackles, and European starlings seem to be the hardest hit by the new illness, but it's also striking adult birds and a few other bird species. Symptoms include crusty, weeping, closed, or swollen eyes, as well as lethargy, twitching, and other neurological conditions.

So far, cases of the new bird illness have been confirmed in several Eastern states and the District of Columbia, including Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, and Florida. No problems have been reported in humans, pets, domestic livestock animals, or poultry.

State and federal agencies around the country are investigating possible causes, says Todd Schneider, a wildlife biologist with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. To date, they've ruled out avian flu and West Nile virus, which is good news because these viruses can jump to humans. Other common viruses, parasites, and toxins that affect birds also don't appear to be the culprit either. Researchers also looked for a connection to the recent eruption of the 17-year cicadas, but they haven't found one.

What You Can Do to Help Birds
Some states, including a few without confirmed cases to date, recommend temporarily taking down your feeders, in case that's where the disease is being transmitted. Don't worry about birds going hungry without your feeders during the warmer months, says Schneider, because plenty of natural food is available for them. So far, removing your feeder is just a precaution, because "the illness has been seen in some species that don't use or seldom use feeders, like robins and blue jays," he adds. Schneider recommends the following standard precautions:

If you keep your feeder up, it's good practice to keep it clean. Wear protective gloves and scrub it once a week with a 10% bleach solution (one part bleach mixed with nine parts water). Rinse thoroughly with water and allow it to air-dry.
If you have several feeders or baths, space them out so birds won't gather in one place. Congregating birds can transmit diseases to one another.
At least twice a week, rake up any bird droppings, spilled seeds, or hulls from underneath the feeders; bag them up and trash them. If it rains, rake as soon as you can before mold starts to grow.
Empty bird baths every couple of days, and clean them using 10% diluted bleach solution. Rinse thoroughly and air-dry before refilling. When you finish, throw your gloves in the trash, and wash your hands with soap and water.
What to Do If You Find a Sick or Dead Bird
Because birds can carry several diseases, it's important to know how to safely deal with any unhealthy or dead bird you may find. Plus, you can help wildlife agencies track the spread of diseases by reporting the incident.

Avoid handling wild birds, living or dead, and never with bare hands.
If it's necessary to remove a dead bird from your yard, wear disposable gloves or cover your hand in a plastic bag to pick it up, then double-bag it in sealed plastic bags and put it in your trash.
Keep pets and small children away from sick or dead wild birds.
Despite what's happening, don't panic, Schneider says. "There's no sign this will move to humans or non-birds. There are some really smart people working on this, and they'll figure it out."

Good morning  everyone. Overcast sky this morning and I turned the heat on again.

AMY  my oldest son has tried to grow rhubarb but no luck so gave up on it. I can not believe how much they charge for it in the markets now when it is in season. Long gone are the years where one could buy it really fresh for 5 cents a pound. I do like it but what I have seen in markets here it is not fresh.

PATRICIA  I heard on the news last night that Eagles have died and they don't know why yet.  When I lived in the last apartment I always had Blue Jays at my feeder. Before a storm I would see  them and Cardinals feeding at the same time and what a contrast with the larger blue jays and the smaller red cardinals.

JANE  how sad to know your good long time friend is going home to our Father. I don't know what hurts more a sudden death in an accident like one of my sisters or a long illness when there is no hope. We suffer with both of them.

Time to go have breakfast. Have a good day and stay safe.

The North Carolina Wildlife Assoc. put out warnings on local media some time ago not to put up bird feeders this year and to report any dead birds we may find in our yard.  Bird Flu has been reported in Tenn. and other neighboring areas.  Bird flu in NC would be a disaster.  Besides losing the wild birds, our enormous turkey and chicken agra-industries could be decimated and that would be a big economic loss for the state.

Beautiful day here and supposed to be up in to the 80's this afternoon.  That will be nice.

Take care, All.

Good morning from a sunny Interior at 30 degrees, our low for the day. Our snow is almost gone, not even piles anymore, a splash here or a spot there.

So far, this new bird disease and die-off are only in the US's Eastern regions, but that could change. Hopefully, it's not as tenacious as the bird flu. Locally, the ravens have seemingly left for their cooler summer range in the mountains.

Still, I've seen neither the annual breakup of the sizeable multispecies winter flocks into smaller single-species flocks nor any migrating birds. Of course, they cut down all the trees on this side of the building, and I'm no longer able to wander the Wildlife and Bird Sanctuary as  I once might have.

Many of our town birds are forest species, so you rarely see them away from trees. We have too many species of hawks for them to be confident in the open.

Jane, I'm so sorry about Joyce. Good friends are harder to lose than family sometimes.

Gloria, Rhubarb grows like weeds here along with multiple root vegetables; you see piles of them in fall give away piles along with zucchini. I wish we could grow the fruit trees here rather than only crabapple. However, the University Research Farm has managed to grow apple trees after grafting them onto crabapple or chokecherry trees.

Amy, we're starting to see some shortages here, especially with paper products and some cleaners. Everything remains the same; masks are required on buses and taxis and signs up in stores list masks as optional but not for employees.

Unfortunately, none of the Ethnic stores seem to be re-opening, and I'm going to miss that as I loved those stores, their products, and their atmosphere. They were so much better than these mall groceries that are all alike!

The indoor all-year-round farmer's market is starting to be out of many local products and switching to more organic as they do this time of year. Still, the two others won't open until after Memorial Day, when they start with greenhouse offerings.

That's also when the seed packets and plants will begin arriving from more southern areas of the state. Some years back, the state banned seeds and live plants from import to protect against alien plants, critters, and diseases.

The building is still on lockdown with all recreational rooms, and the library remains closed. There is still only one security guard per shift and one maintenance guy on call. Although, I suppose there are more with seven buildings. Yesterday, the one I saw in the hallway was still all swatched in plastic.

My friends and I are still maintaining our morning texts and calls. Although now it's more often texts.
I'm beginning to hope that we're coming to the end of the pandemic and entering the management part.

There are now four different variations since Omicron as the virus mutates, but as vaccinations rise, there are fewer unvaccinated to fuel the deaths and pandemic.

A liquid sunshine day here with a temp of 47° . Yesterday was an awesome day. We finished raking up the yard and will take that to the dump another time.  I can feel my muscles protesting this morning. Why is it when you are having fun you pay dearly the next morning. Bird singing was our music and they were singing their hearts out.

Today is an easy day, just work about home.  May get some sewing in.

Jane, have fun out with Cathy and I hope the stores are not that busy for you.

Lloyd, take care..

Gloria, I have on huge patch plus two little ones I have started. Those were from pieces that I pulled and part of the rhubarb root came so I planted it to see if it would grow.

Patricia, do you have lilacs there?? Soon ,ours will be blooming in about 3-4 weeks.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning  everyone. I was wondering what the noise I heard was and when I got up and finally opened the bedroom window it is the landscapers, no not planting but cleaning up all the sand spread when they spread sand after the snow so no one slips and falls. We didn't have much snow but boy we sure have a lot of sand in the parking area.

JANE  it is 10 or 12 years since I stopped driving and I still miss my car and being able to go anywhere when I feel like it. That feeling of being independent is one I miss very much.

AMY  my daughter had been canning for years but now she has started drying a lot of it. She checked YouTube and kept seeing a certain dehydrator show up so she got one. Now she is getting into bagging them into those long lasting bags where you just add water to heat or cook. She has spent time looking into preserving food long time. Where they live if the dry river bed at the bottom of the hill floods they will still have food and now with their solar panels set up at last she can run all that electrical things and has no electric bill to pay and no gas to carry home every week to keep generators running.
My older son and DIL started canning a few years ago and now is into the things Regina has been doing and telling her all about it. Makes it look like he is the one who has to teach her when she is the one who told him about it.

LLOYD  hope you can get to your doctor at the VA.

AMY  the forsythia is in full bloom here now  and I would have to go outside on the porch to see the house across the street where there are 2 huge lilac bushes to see them. Those are my favorite spring flowers and love the scent.

Have a good day and be safe.

People are urged to watch out for ponding (We've upgraded from puddling!); and to watch out for iced culverts melting, frozen drains thawing and basements flooding. Everything we expected for the first part of April is now happening, but better late than the alternative.

Gloria, with these eyes, I was never able to drive. Still, I miss the availability of buses, being able to walk anywhere anytime and not have to call ahead for a taxi, wait twenty or more minutes while you hear that prerecorded message not to hang up, and the dispatchers will soon be available. Then after giving your info, it is another twenty until your cab comes. And to add insult to injury, they closed two major bridges and approaches in my neighborhood for a year while they replaced said bridges.

One has now reopened, and the other is slated for next month. Since 2015, it has been new telephone and electricity poles, sidewalk replacements, new linking roads or lane replacements or additions, and now it's bridges with three more to go starting this fall and in 2023. The city has also annexed more areas.

Two military bases are also changing, with the closest airforce receiving a new flight squadron. The army base, whose territory lies partially within city limits, is also getting a new military group. I expect to see more activity as we are only 53 miles from Russia in one area and less than three miles in another.

Gloria, with your older son and Regina, that's known as "mansplaining."

Amy, we have the small shrub lilacs.

Good morning, Jane. The middle part of weekdays is always better here in the stores. However, after all that time without shortages, suddenly we're having them, mostly paper products.

Lloyd, I hope the doctors can make you feel better!

The day has been a fun  one and very interesting also. I looked out the back and there at the end of the yard was a little black hen. She was searching for bugs or whatever and having a time of it. I did manage to get a few photos and saw the neighbour waving so went over to talk. She was a little miffed at the hens getting into her garden....quess you could say she was as mad as a wet hen. :2funny:  Told her I would be peeling apples and could the hens have them, yes so when done I gave them a bowl of apple peelings.

Just now I watched a crow picking up wet bread and flying off to hide it.. one piece he tucked here in the flower bed and covered it with leaves. The next piece her flew over to my neighbour and tuck a piece in her flower bed! I bet Callie was licking her lips when she saw that big bird!

Smoked ham, scalloped potatoes, mashed carrots and parsnips and fried mushroom are for supper. Along with hot applesauce to go with the pork

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's still a tad dark out there but I need to go get dressed and take Cooper for his morning walk.  The temp is still up but a bit lower than yesterday.  Tomorrow will be down in the low 60s and then it will be going up again.  Typical Spring weather for this area!

TOMEREADER, my car is in the junkyard!  While I was having and recovering from surgery back in Nov. and Ded. it decided not to start and when I had it taken to the garage, they noted that it also needed an inspection sticker.  When they started a list of what was needed for inspection, it turned out that the it needed considerably more than it was worth to get it back on the road.  And at the ripe old age of 22, I decided not to invest several thousand dollars in it's repair.  So here I am...on foot!  But luckily, my daughter has just retired and she doesn't seem to mind chauffering me.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning..

Another cloudy and wet day here. Chores that didn't get done yesterday may get done today. I have 6 bars of cheese to grate up and freeze. No doubt I can find enough laundry to do also.

Last night was the first night the frogs have been singing and did that have a huge chorus. Noticed that the turtles are also out  as we saw/avoided a huge snapping turtle crossing the highway.

Tome, I really don't have a recipe but just put peeled sliced potatoes in a dish with onion sliced sprinkled in between layers. May a roux of about 2-3 tbs of butter with 2 tbs. of flour .When that has melted, I stir in about 3 cups of milk. Bake at 350° for 1 hour. You can also throw in bacon bites  or grated cheese in the sauce before you pout on the potatoes.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning  everyone. Another gray sky this morning. When I went to pull the bedroom shade down last evening the rescue was here again putting someone in the back.. I hate seeing that. Seems like every day lately that ambulance is here. sometimes because someone fell and like yesterday taking someone to the hospital. That is why I hated moving to a place like this. If I stayed at the apartment I had in my son's house I would never get out because there was no way or room I should say to put one of those chairs that go up and down. That house was at least 125 years old. There was a mill nearby and that was a rooming house with crazy stairs and small rooms. Over the years different owners changed things and my son knocked down walls to make rooms bigger blocked some stairs and I had a lot of storage on one of those blocked stairways.  That old mill is now condos.

PATRICIA  going to take a long time  to check all those birds. Like that they include the sounds they make.

JANE  I used to do my shopping early on Saturday  mornings  to do my grocery shopping.  I would see several people there that  were stay at home folks, not workers. I felt like telling them to shop during the week and leave weekends for those who work all week.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, all. It's cooler today with only 28 degrees and a forecasted high of 51. Tomorrow very early, we're to have a smidgen of ice and snow to go nicely with the water on the sidewalks and roads from the past few day's warmups.

Nothing new here in either town, the apartments, or me. Another day of basic chores, perhaps some laundry, and not much else. Yesterday, the last of the airforce base's new squadron came in with a roar and a dip of the wings so we'd know they were there. Farrah decided she rather miss the festivities and noise and decamped to under the bed. I wish I could have joined her.

HELLO.....so good to read and learn so many things from you all.

PATRICIA, I always enjoy the the things you share with us.  I will go back and look at the birds when I get a chance.

JANE, I did not know you gave up your car.  I am sure you made the best decision and thankfully your daughter is willing and able to take you around🥰. My thoughts and prayers for you and your lifetime friend, Joyce🙏

We have had so much WIND here we are sick of it.  Last Friday we had to take a drive west and the dirt in the air was so bad you could not see the mountains at all.  Our grandson had a lacrosse 🥍 game that we planned to attend, but decided not to and we are thankful we did as son and grandson told us it was awful 😣  We need moisture so badly.... Our mountains did get a decent amout of accumulation but nothing down here in the city😩

I did purchase a portable oxygen concentrator.  Picked it up on Craigs List from a gentleman that bought it for his mother.  It is basically brand new and I got it for nearly half price🤪 They are expensive things but I am so glad to have it for daily use out walking AND more importantly for going to Vail with the family.

We had dinner with Dave and the family last night.  He fixed a corned beef with cabbage and potatoes roasted in the oven.  It was delicious.  He sous vide the corned beef and it was so tender.

We are back with the kiddos tomorrow through Friday as Dave has to travel with his job.  He has been very lucky to avoid travel while Michele was so sick, and since she passed.  We are just happy to be able to help him out.

I wish you ALL a good day.

Jenny

Time to say Good Night to Everyfriend!  Frankie schedule for this week is 6 a.m to 2:30 p.m. and I'm wearing out getting up so early to meet them.

Kept an appt. at the hearing aid place today and then Cathy and I went to the Mennonite store.  Came home and took Cooper for a walk and then finished putting the groceries away and did some odd jobs.  Now I'm ready to collapse.

Thanks, AMY, for the birthday wishes.  I almost forgot!  Now I wish everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And mey he be with the Ukrainians!  GOOD NIGHT!

P.S.  Thanks, SHIRLEY!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Thank you, PATRICIA, for the link and the special wishes!  It's going to be a bit colder here today so we've decided not to go to THE FENCE for my birthday supper.  We'd have to eat outside and it would be most uncomfortable.  By late afternoon or early evening the temps will be in the high 50s and that's a bit chilly for eating outside.  My daughter gave me several choices to go instead and I just told her to "surprise me".  So I'm not sure where we will be going.

I sure hope Frankie's next schedule will be a bit later beginnings.  I sure don't like getting up at 5:30 to meet Cooper.  I love them both and I love having Cooper all day but I'd rather the days would be DAYlight when he gets here!

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Jane, may your day be a fun one..maybe you can go to THE FENCE another time and tell us of all the goodies they have. Sounds like a restaurant I would dearly love here.

Better get going, want to nip into town for milk and a few things.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning  everyone. At last I woke to a sunny morning. Great, I had a shopping list for the good CNA I get on Wednesdays and for a change it will not be raining on her. Just got a phone call and she is out today and they have no one to send me.
Almost 10 AM and 47° so maybe if I can get  the energy I will go out later and sit on the porch and enjoy a bit of sunshine and fresh air.

Have a good day and be safe.

GOOD MORNING‼️ It is a cloudy day here this morning 😩 Bring on the sunshine PLEASE🙏

JANE, enjoy your day and the surprise location of your birthday meal❤️  I do not blame you for wanting a later start to your day when Frankie and Cooper arrive😩 We have to get up way too early and get a move on when we are staying with the grands too.  I like it to be light outside AND not have to hit the floor running 😩😩

AMY, 🙏🙏 that your second booster will not cause you ANY issues‼️ We need to pop in and get our FOURTH booster! Every time you mention wood to buy or delivery of a trug I smile and think, "those lucky people"‼️‼️

I am itching to get my summer flowers planted, but can not really do it until after the last grandkids stay due to not being here to water them.  We did go look at plants yesterday and boy oh boy are they pricy.

I hope you all have a good day.

Good morning, everyone from an Interior with bright blue skies and a few clouds. We didn't have the bit of ice and snow promised us, at least not here out of the foothills. The southeast portion of the city and area is back to excess ponding warnings. These are the city parts where we delve into the foothills and lower slopes. This weekend, temperatures will rise ten degrees or more in highs.

Today, I'll receive my fourth shot and second booster. I'd thought it was the 24th, but on learning otherwise, I re-checked and they will be going by door to door between 1:30 and four this afternoon. I hope to continue my streak of no reaction to the Moderna vaccine.

And that's all the excitement from my end...

The skies are sunny and wind is tolerable after several days of storms and gales.   However, the temperature is still bouncing from near freezing to needing the a/c.  Flowers already planted in the ground are blooming but we're cautioned about putting new ones in pots just yet - and that's all I have now.

My days seem to be filled with necessary Domestic Duties and appointments with "...ists" (PodiatrIST, AudiologIST, OpthamalogIST, DentIST, DermatologIST, etc. etc.  ::)

And that's what's going on in my corner of the world.

I just finished receiving my second booster, and so far, so good regarding side effects. The guy giving the shot needs to work on his technique but was very polite. PATRICIA, I had my second booster on Monday and I had no reaction at all.  I couldn't even tell where it was unless I pressed all around the spot on my arm until I fell a little bit of a sore spot!

We went to dinner at the local Hotel and it was delicious but the best part wa the family being together!  Everyone who lives close enough was there and we talked non-stop.  I even had a glass of wine!  And now I'm going to hit the hay.  I don't have to be up to meet Cooper tomorrow because Frankie is off so they will be stopping by in the afternoon for a short visit!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one.  And mye he look after Joyce and the Ukrainians!

Once again, Thank you all for the good wishes for my birthday and for being my friends.  I love you all and I wish we could have a big party!

Good morning, sunny skies and 33 this morning at 8 AM. We're scheduled for another high in the late fifties, and I've been opening my balcony door a few inches each evening. Management insists that they are not controlling the gauges, but I've had the heat turned off since the middle of last week and still maintain a 78-82 range, and the heating ducts feel warm.

And, running water for quite a while until it goes from lukewarm to hot must be costing them. I don't know what senior prefers a cold shower! A good example is when I turn the kitchen faucet to hot and turn to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. After finishing in the bathroom, the water is just beginning to warm. I set up my coffee maker, test the water, and get my mug out of the cupboard and the water is only inching past warm. Yesterday, I boiled my soup pot full of water and ran the "hot" water just enough to cool it off before doing the dishes.

What concerns me is the one or two inches of water on my balcony with no place for runoff. The old balconies had drainage while the new ones don't. The new balconies are plywood sheets laid over a frame and painted an industrial gray paint. Everything is dripping and melting out there, and the old frozen bits sit with nowhere to go on the balcony.

Bubble, I immediately copied that & pasted to my WordPad that I keep for everything and noticed that isn't the same "ctrl" as on my computer.  Does your computer have something different or maybe a typo?  I'm thrilled to find a fix for absent-minded goofs!  I am slightly off center today since this is the 2nd day Callie is missing and I'm fairly sure I'll never know what happened to her. She was free & that was most important to her, but even Tiger has been looking for her everywhere. She knew when Tommy died but Callie just wanted to go back out night before last and don't think Tiger had picked up on her signals the last few days. Very sad but knew it was coming and will be so much easier to just have Tiger in the house, she doesn't make messes like the other 2 did, not same kind of messes. Thanks for the tip, never knew about that!

Jane, so sorry your friend is gone, always mixed feelings that they couldn't have lived longer but don't want them having to suffer (mental or physical). I have one friend that has been gone for more than 10 years and another about 8 that I still miss laughing with. MY Heaven is getting filled with family and friends I'll enjoy seeing again so it does get easier now. Poor Tiger cat has been searching for Callie all day, even went out for a long time in the pool area where Callie has been spending her days lately. It hurts to watch a friend (like you & Tiger) be so sad. Big hugs for that empty feeling tonight.

Amy, so sorry the shots hit you hard but my daughter's "covey" of doctors tell her "it is doing it's job when it hits hard". She does get the best medical care I've ever seen in all my years (in St.Louis).... I'm a fan of propane heat & use, have it in the motorhome for furnace, frig & cooking/baking. One of my brothers was with Panhandle Eastern Pipeline for many years & even did some inspecting when the pipeline was put in Alaska, & he never quit praising it's value, guess it was "natural" gas & I don't know the difference between it & propane, it works the same <grin>. Not sure any of the petroleum products need to be as high as they are right now, politics, for sure, but is one thing that has a bearing on the economy of the world. Maybe prices will settle down before next winter when your need will be higher.

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.

Another beautiful day in the neighborhood here. Sun is smiling and we are to get to 54° today!

Not sure what will get done today.but hope it is not holding the bed down!

Jane, I am sorry to hear of Joyce's passing and yes she is in a better place. Now you have another guardian angel watching over you. Just look into your heart for all the good memories you have of your times together.

Shirley, then this shot has worked over time...as did the others. I know it has saved a lot of folks from dying ,yes they do get covid but not bad enough for a trip to the hospital.  We now have had 4 shots each. I am sorry to read of Callie's disappearance. Some animals know when the end is near and will go away to die.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning  everyone. 34°, no frost and too early. I woke up at 4:45 too early but no CNA today so can nap when and if I need it. got a new notice from the office under my door yesterday. We have 2 confirmed Covid cases in this building so it  is back to isolation and masks again. I know the rescue/ambulance has been here often the last couple of weeks and they have taken some to the hospital. Gives me a weird feeling every time the flashing lights from the ambulance takes someone out in the middle of the night. They park in the front and leave the vehicle running and the lights flashing and those lights wake me every time. The length of time they are here lets me know if they just pick up someone who fell or are taking someone out. Makes me wish my apartment was in the back of the building. Rather see trees than cars and a parking area.

SHIRLEY  never delete what you typed until you copied and saw it posted where you want it and then delete the notepad. I learned that the first time Oscar told me about the copy/paste. That was way back in Bis Busy Nest. Those days seem like a lifetime ago.

AMY  wish they came out with the pills before those shots for that %&%7566 Covid. If I have to get one more shot that needle will be hitting bone.

JANE  so sorry about your friend but at least you did get to see her and now know she is at peace.

Had enough coffee this morning, time to get something solid in the tummy.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning; 34 this morning, and we had hit 53 for a high yesterday and expect higher today. Nothing new here other than the usual upkeep and output.

Regarding the covid shots, it is said that about four percent may still get the disease, and that is less than the polio vaccination and the flu vaccination. Evidently, "Unvaccinated people had a three-fold higher prevalence of COVID-19 than vaccinated people. The prevalence rate was 1.21% among unvaccinated people compared with .4% among fully vaccinated people."  "This is close to the rate of other vaccines, such as polio."

Jane, I was sorry to hear about Joyce. I know it hurts, but she is free of any pain, and you have memories to hold close.

Gloria, at least you are kept informed. We're not, and the building is still in lockdown mode. The only information out is via gossip, and you know its reliability. We receive a monthly calendar printout around the first of each month that lists any information we're given.

The only other notices are for unexpected news. A couple of weeks ago, I turned on the faucet, and there wasn't any water. That afternoon it was back, and in the morning, gone again. There was an issue with a pipe, and it wasn't deemed necessary to tell the tenants maintenance was working on the pipes.

Patricia, I was  just told that 35 guests at a funeral here in town came down with covid! As much as I dislike having my energy zap from the needle it is still better than dealing with covid.

That was not nice of them to give you a heads up on the shutting off of the water!.

We are watching radar on TV... having those spring tornadoes popping up with thunder now as the cold front just came through. Was summer hot today (pushing 90) & much cooler in the last few minutes. I have the sliding door right next to me open & think I hear the pinging of hail now. The worst of the damage is east of where I live, the TV weather crews are having a field day with so much going on all directions. Tiger is sitting on my computer chair & not sharing very nicely, I'm on the edge.

Lloyd happy to see you report in, you did say you were not up to par last you posted. I will tell you that after having a 4-5 day bought of something I was kind of glad to hear my neighbors & everyone they knew had a "bug" that sounded much like you had. I didn't go to the doctor because I knew it would be hospital & that same test you had and I am chicken when it comes to any "invasive" tests! Glad you checked out okay, take care!

It is pouring rain (we need it) & TVs are still showing nothing but radar. Showing damage to the YMCA in little town that joins Wichita on SE & the storms still brewing. Still a band of red heading to Wichita so not out of the woods yet. Showing lots of photos of the tornadoes that people sent in to the TV stations. I had my camera out, the clouds were absolutely gorgeous... but I was too lazy to go on out. We are getting the brunt of the rain right now but clearing just to the west, so may be all over for us soon. The Y at the little town south east of Wichita took a direct hit, not hearing any injuries so not as bad as it could have been. Some TV stations not coming in so power out "hear & there", a lot of lightning.

Ending this weather report with "Sweet dreams & God Bless".  Love y'all.  Shirley

Good morning.

Still a tad chilly temp is 28° but going to be a sunny day until the afternoon.

Need to tackle a few chores here after meeting friends in town to exchange goodies.

Jane, hope today is a better day for you.

Shirley, no thank you to the tornados..

Lloyd, good to be back home and in your own bed.....now take it easy today.

Gloria, all my shots have given me the same reaction. This one not as strong as I could function some. Just wish the @$%^%^#$!@# would go away!!

Better get on with my day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning  everyone. Once again I am awake too early and have the heat turned on again. On Monday I wonder if she will have maintenance man turn the heat off even if the  temperature was in the 30's again. She has a big heater in her office behind her desk and in front of the window. We are allowed to put the AC's in when she tells us we can. Her AC is installed under the window in her office with a cover over it in the winter but she can turn it on when she gets warm in her office.

AMY  I sure would not want to be in with a group of people these days. I had called my DIL to ask her when she had time if she can cut my hair. Then called again and told her about the covid here and said is she wants to come she will have to wear her mask again. I told Bill when he called yesterday that he will need his mask this morning when he gets here.

PATRICIA  at least they let us know when thing will be done here like checking fire alarms. They put up a big easel in the lobby one sees coming into the building. Since I seldom got outside these days I don't see that easel. They also put it up when they  expect snow so tenants can move their cars to get ready for the plow. First row has to be moved first so the plow can clean in case of the ambulance and fire truck are  called.

LLOYD  glad you are home again and feeling better again.

SHIRLEY  sure glad I live in this part of the country, we have freezing cols and blizzards and hurricanes but seldom a tornado. What we get we can prepare for.

JANE  have a good day.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was so tired last night that I decided to go to bed and didn't notice the time until I was crawling in.  It was only 9:30 but I went right to sleep and slept like a log!

It's only 37º here right now but sunshiny and heading for a high of 67!  I can handle that!

LLOYD, you need to take care of YOU!  That was quite a scare you had!

I have no specific plans for today but Cooper is here and we've already had one nice walk!  He's such good company and fills the gap of my own missing doggies!  I think Frankie is going to spend the night tonight so I'll have to think about something to serve for supper.

I have a "ton" of birds making use of my feeder and they are eating me out of house and home!  I looked out once yesterday and there were 4 on the feeder itself, 2 waiting on the bar that holds the feeder and another 3 sitting on the porch railing.  I thought that was all of them until one more walked across the porch.  I love watching them.  And we have a couple of squirrels coming into the yard but Cooper manages to chase them out!

Yesterday, I did a little cooking to go with the leftovers from the day before.  I made up a head of fried cabbage and bacon and I could eat that for a meal by itself!

I think I'll go get out the sweeper.  I've noticed a lot of bird seed inside the house...I suppose spilled when I bring in the feeder to refill.

Is OK up for those nasty storms in June and July?  That's the only thing that worries me about my upcoming trip.  In fact, it's the big worry I have about that part of my family living in OK.

I guess I better get this day on the move!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good Morning,

JaneS,  you didn't address your OK weather question to me but, IMO, April and May are the most likely months for OK to have damaging tornadoes.  June and July are normally sunny and hot; however, with the year we're having - who knows???

#2 son/dil were coming for dinner last evening but we postponed it because of the weather forecast ("If storms develop - they will be severe").  Weather gurus were all poised with spotters out "in the field" but the towering clouds that did develop "dissolved" and we had nothing.
So all they had to talk about was the big tornado near Wichita that Shirley mentioned. That was a bad one!!!

Nothing going on in my little part of the world.  I'm enjoying several web cams of bird nests/feeders.  Have watched Canada Goose goslings go from being hatched to literally jumping out of the nest 70 feet in the air and swimming off with Mom and Dad in a nearby lake.  (Doesn't take much to entertain me!  ;D )

Need to tend to Domestic Duties and Desk Work today.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a Satisfactory Saturday.  :)

Good morning; 35 locally and expected to reach yesterday's high of 55 or more. We've been in a holding pattern the last bit of April and expect more heat and higher temperatures starting Monday.

There is nothing new to speak of other than the weather, no new cases, the threat level remains low, but masks are required on transportation, not in stores where it's optional. The building is still locked down and has been since March 2020.

Lloyd, it's nice to see you back; you were missed.

Jane, All of the dogs here are like Cooper. There's a twenty-pound weight limit, except for big Ed, a dog bred to detect seizures and be a PTSD companion to little Ed. Little Ed is a Vietnam vet, and big Ed is a bruiser, looking at least two of little Ed. He's a bully mix and the sweetest, goofiest dog you're ever met when he's not working. If he's pulling Little Ed's wheelchair or sitting alert by Little Ed's side, he's working and not available for attention.

Gloria, besides the monthly newsletter, we will have notices clipped to the wall by our doors. Each apartment has a large blue clip mounted to the wall on the left side, visible by the peephole. However, it hasn't been used that much these past twenty-five months of lockdown. They were used to ask everyone to move their cars out of the two parking lots yesterday. They used the Elders' parking lot next door with permission while management cleaned out the remaining snow slag and brought in sweeper machines to clean the various grit, pebbles, and whatnot.

May will have the annual check of all the fire, exhaust alarms, and fire extinguisher checks and replacements.  Since lockdown, they have not had any of the regular twice-yearly apartment inspections, and they haven't reopened the five recreational rooms since 2020 nor increased staffing back to pre-pandemic levels. If you did have emergency maintenance, the guy responding was wrapped in so many layers of plastic, including shoe covers, that you wondered how he could function.

Last year, they cooked the holiday meals elsewhere and brought food to the apartment door by carts. If you requested a meal, it was left in a bag attached to your door. There were days when the automatic hall lights stayed off, and no hallway traffic was heard. Often if you say anything about the loss of the previous service, you are reminded that this is "independent living and not a care home." The sense of community has splintered.

Amy, other than the daily texts and calls, I'd never know I had friends offline. The majority live in higher elevations, ridges, domes, and foothills, and weather and lockdowns have kept them away. The one pig roast we managed last year was the only large get-together, and we're hoping to change that this summer. We are planning a shopping trip this next week if all goes well and it will be noisy as five of us have made attending plans of course that could and will probably change in the meantime. I can understand why solitary confinement is used in penal institutions.

My main gripe is that while we're told that the heat can be self-regulated, I've had mine turned off most of April, and the ducts are warm, and the temperature remains about 82. I tend to spend most days with the screen door open a little.

Patricia, we didn't meet up today ,will make it tomorrow. They are looking after another dog, their sons and keeps them rather busy.

Laundry blew out so quick on the line today. Noticed wild leeks that I had planted last year have come up!! Wild leeks are delicious, 100 times the flavour of the tame ones.
Winding down, day went ok....would have liked more get up and go but tis ok.

I've never had leeks, Amy, but my husband's mother talked about them. How do you fix? I love most lettuce greens, not cooked like my mother used to eat.

Patricia, sounds like you've found a great place to live, nothing is perfect so we get to gripe when we need to. I had my comeupence this morning when power was out for an hour & finally came back on. I asked "Google to turn off the pool lights" & Google had the nerve to say, "Wait a minute, I'm trying to reconnect to wi-fi"..... it was the "wait a minute" attitude that got me.  :-\  :tickedoff:

Been checking out where to buy "out of state" fishing license in MO, in case my youngest son wants to go same time I do. One campground is Corp of Engineer & other is gorgeous city park with big fishing lake. Same license good for both, it seems. Down to one cat so will be a little easier traveling (maybe). We would take 2 vehicles & he would sleep in a tent, being allergic to cats. Doesn't bother him to eat in my motorhome, tho  ;) .  I hope to get one trip in before selling the 4 Winds. :'(

Sorry I haven't posted for several days.  I have been busy with some much needed house cleaning.  Also, I bought a new phone and am trying to get set up.

SHIRLEY, I make a really good LEEK AND Potato soup.  And it is easy to make.

I'M MAKING THIS SHORT...I hate texting.  :tickedoff:

Take care, All.

Phyll, are leeks kinda like chives? I love potato & celery soup, lots of butter & sometimes even add cheese.  Guess I can Google.  :-[     I'm still trying to learn how to operate my new phone, went android because the iPhone kept joining the iPad & the kids/grands texting in groups. By golly the Samsung whatever does it's own thing & I still don't know how to do much but answer. I use the iPadPro for texting & it does have a keyboard & is "cellular" but I don't know how to use it like a computer. I stay sane just not mingling all these things. Good to see you.

Sweet dreams and God Bless. I need to take my shower & pick out clothes to wear to church but haven't checked forecast. I leave the house by 7:00am & get home about 9:30 after breakfast with the family so need a jacket at least to start out. The wind is fairly still right now so should turn sprinklers on. We didn't get but a scant 1/2" of rain last night & everything SO dry. Trees are getting leaves but such puny ones. So far it looks like the wisteria in the tree down by the river didn't make it, I'm shocked!  I may take a saw down & cut some of the twisted branches, will think of some use for them. The oldest parts are as big around as my arms & wind around each other. Shut up, Shirley~~

Time to bid you all good night!  It's been a busy, work day today!  I did a lot of cleaning and I'm not finished yet!

CALLIE, when I asked my question about the weather in OK, I didn't think I had to address anyone since you are the only one who posts from there and I was pretty sure you'd answer.  Thanks, that makes me feel better about my visit but I still have to worry about them when I'm not there.  I remember being in Texas when they were announcing the possible arrival of a tornado.  Cindy didn't have a basement so she used a large closet under the stairs for protection.  She was gathering us all in there and I stood at the door waiting my turn and it was just long enough for my claustrophobia to set in.  I could not step into that closet with all the people and dogs and then close the door.  So I closed that door and went across the hall to the bathroom all by myself.

And now, I'm heading for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may he watch over the Ukrainains!
