Puppy Love
(Paul Anka)

And they called it puppy love
Oh, I guess they'll never know
How a young heart really feels
And why I love her so

And they called it puppy love
Just because we're, we're seventeen
Tell them all it, please tell 'em, isn't fair
To take away my only dream

I cry each night my tears for you
My tears are all in vain
I'll hope and I'll pray that may-maybe someday
You'll be back in my arms once again

Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I, oh how can I tell them
This is not a puppy love

Someone, help me, help me, help me please
Is the answer up above
How can I ever tell them
This is not a puppy love

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Cooper will be arriving any minute so I might have to come back and finish this later.  I haven't forgotten the recipe either.

BUBBLE, thanks for our new "place"  everything is lovely but I particularly like the piece by Ogden Nash and the one about books.  I can identify with both of them!

I had to leave and meet Cooper and then feed him and make my breakfast.  We're having a misty rain this morning.  I don't know if it will interrupt our walks or if it's not hard enough to matter.  We'll see.  When I finish here, I'm going to go post the egg recipe.  Please ask questions if necessary.  It's not a real written out recipe.  Just jotted down while I worked with additions as I typed it up.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrrow!

Good morning...

Love this weather....sitting at 50° at the momnet and nice sunny day.

Yesterday turned out to be a busy day with company...but it was fun to catch up with friends. Today is work on a quilt after I get the relish done and syrup on the pickles.

Callie, I am not sure if these are the same as Christmas pickles. They sit in a brine for 7 days then in water ,then is syrup with spices for 6 days and you boil that syrup each day and put back on the cucumers. Sound familiar?

Jane, left you a ? over at What's for dinner.

Sandy, look on the bright side.....look at all the exercise you're getting.. :2funny:

Bubble, thank you for the new start page....love the kitten in the hammock!

Slept in so better get it into high gear...

Gloria if you peek in ,good morning.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, Amy! And thank you, Jane, for posting that recipe; I've added it to mine.

Amy, after having three days back in the eighties, we had a gentle, steady rain last night continuing into today. This weather pattern will continue through next Sunday and is our usual slide into fall weather. I never understood, until I lived in the states, everyone talking about the dog days of August and vacations during them, here and abroad, as I always knew this time of year to be wet and rainy.

Again, nothing new here other than the usual tidying and general upkeep. We have elections tomorrow, and I have two more yearly forms that came Saturday and need to be filled out and sent in, more of the end-of-the-season generalities.

We no longer keep up with our local daily calls and texts. I'm finding that I miss them. It was nice when everyone was isolated to have a way to keep in touch. Then, when Claire stayed here, while it wasn't for a good reason, it was nice to have the company. Now I'm feeling somewhat lonely, which will probably pass in not too long.

Lloyd, this is the recipe that Jane posted in "What's For Dinner" I don't think others would mind if it was put here for you and Nancy to try.
"JIM'S EGG THINGYS"

INGREDIENTS...
Bag of frozen hash brown potatoes
bag of grated cheese (or grate your own, the flavor is your choice)
3 cooked sausage patties cut into small chunks
5 or so strips of cooked bacon broken into small pieces
6 eggs

DIRECTIONS
-Overload the cupcake tins with mash browns mixed with cheese (they should be heaped up high)
-Bake at 400º for 20 minutes.
-Remove from oven and press down in center so they go up the sides of the tins.

-Reduced heat of oven the 350º
*press down with spoon (small gravy ladle works well)  to make a space for the eggs and meat
*add chopped up sausages or bacon in each space
-Break an egg in the center of each of the potato cups and add more grated cheese on the top.
-Bake for 15 to 20 minutes more at 350º

Eat hot or cool and refrigerate or freeze for later!

The cupcake tins that you use are the big ones that have 6 in them.  We found them the cheapest at Target but lots of places have them!  Any questions, just ask!  If I don't know the answer, I'll ask Jim!

I'm going to freeze my "egg thingys" separately and then bag the, separately and then put the little bags in a big bag so I can take out one or two at at time the night before I want them.

Now I'm off to the haystack.  Frankie is spending the night here and she has to go to work at 7 tomorrow.  I'm going to try to have Cooper sleep with me.  Sometimes he will and sometimes he won't.   We shall see!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

Up and att'em this morning. Kyle has physio early , then blood work.
After that it is home toput away the spoils from yesterday. Have to come up with a name to put on the jars as it is a mix mash of vegetables.

Yesterday a baby sparrow decided to reside in the garage but we had other ideas. Leaving doors opened for him to go out  but that didn't help. Borrowed a butterfly net from the neighbour and after a chase I finally caught him and set him free near an ash tree.

Patricia, my heart goes out to those that lost homes, outbuildings from the fire. Resiliant folks to start over and rebuild.

Jane, who won.......did Cooper sleep with you?

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Yep, AMY, Cooper spent the night with me, got up when I did and had a run in the yard, ate his breakfast and then parked outside Freankie's bedroom door.  He followed her around until she left for work and then parked beside me while I ate my "egg thingy" for breakfast.  (He got the last bite!)  And now he's at the door, ready for his morning walk.

My prayers go with all who need them and and my thoughts are with all of you!  If you only knew how often you are quoted to my friends and family....

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Well!  Everyfriend must have been as busy today as I was.  I spent a lot of the day singing to myself and talking to Cooper.  Cathy came by and dropped off my library book which she had picked up for me.  We talked a bit and I asked if we could stop at Davy's on our way home from the grocery store to pick up some corn to freeze.  She said, "Let's go right now! I need a couple things, too!  So we did and now I have 17 little bags of corn in the freezer ready for "when the snow flies" as my grandmother used to say!

While I was walking Cooper, my nice neighbor's nice granddaughter was outside her house.  My neighbor had fallen (luckily she didn't break anything) and I asked about her.  We talked for a few minutes and she offered me some zucchini.  I came home with a recipe for a zucchini casserole and some zucchini to make it!  I have such nice neighbors and they have such nice families!

I hope you are all having a lovely day!  And I hope it's lots of good stuff keeping you away from here.  Keep on keeping on!

Jane, I have been busy here...took Kyle to physio and 1 1/2 hours latter he came out!! Then blood work was next..that took in 3 hours this morning. After that was tidy up kitchen to make another mess :) Soup  and trifle are  made for tomorrows lunch. Talked with next door neighbour and she is doing fine after the laser surgery..bonus!!
Other than that not much else is happening :))

That corn is going to taste good come winter time.

Good morning....

Hmmm meeting myself..  Off to pick up a few things at the grocery store then home getting ready for company. He is going to touch up a few spots on our vehicle and I would imagine she and I  will enjoy our visit.

When I was boiling up the syrup for the icicle pickles I snitched a small cucumber. OH MY.......they are delicious so no more moaning  about all the work involved. Even Kyle said they were good and crunchie!! Now to keep our fingers out of them till after they are bottled.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.
edited to add... Jane did you get to have Cooper over night?

Good Morning AMY and anyone who arrives later!  No!  Cooper did not spend the night here and this morning Frankie seems in a better mood so I guess it's good he went home with her.

Congrats on finishing up the pickles!  Now I hope you don't "finish them off" before they get canned for future use!

I'm waiting for a ride from one of my former classmates.  Some of us get together once a month for breakfast and I've missed the last two so I'm looking forward to this one!  I have some chicken cooking in the crockpot for soup for later.  Maybe Chicken corn soup or chicken noodle.  I'm leaning toward the noodles.  Frankie dropped off the chicken when she dropped off Cooper this morning.  She said it "needs to be used up NOW"  and she elected me to do that!

I'm signing off because it's almost time for my ride and Cooper has to come in.  Have a great day!

Good morning, Amy, Jane, and Lloyd! It's been back in the rain clouds for us here in the Interior, with only 57 presently and later 73.

I have nothing scheduled except for some phone calls and waiting for a couple of packages. It has been so long since I've dealt with regular mail; how long does flat rate take these days? I've been down to the office so often that the guys tell me no before I can say a word.

Jane, you and Amy have been busy this summer, while I've rarely been to each of the local farmer's markets. I need a new energy source!

Thoroughly enjoyed today, had a good time catching up with our friends. While he worked on the van she and I played catch up on the past.

Jane, I have yet to jar the cucumbers, just two more days to go.

Patracia, I think Jane will agree that when you can /bottle all the produce from garden or markets it tastes better than store bought.

Weather is about to get nasty with a storm  but we shall see, need the rain but not the music and light show.

Amy, we no longer have the ethnic stores and groceries I so love and don't think they'll return. I agree about canned/bottled garden foods.

I barter for game meat which arrives frozen double wrapped in the white paper; moose, mountain goat, Dall sheep, partridge, bear, and hare. I also receive halibut, king crab, rainbow trout, grayling, sheefish, and salmon. It's all cleaned up, sectioned, and frozen but not preserved or canned.

I make my own sauces, dressings, condiments, and yougart.

To my mother's dismay, I never learned to can and did mainly meal prep and preserving. Now I don't do that. For one person, it wasn't realistic. But what you and Jane do has my stomach trying to talk my brain into it.

The corn we got the other day from Davy's was fresh-picked that morning and it was so good!  I did have to eat some.  And I guess I talked about it so much that my daughter went back and got a couple dozen for herself and did the cutting and freezing.  I know she'll enjoy it "when the snow flies"!

I didn't get a whole lot done today because Frankie just started some new medecine and it reacted on her so badly that they sent her home from work.  She didn't go home. She came here and was here the rest of the day!  I made some chicken noodle soup while she was here and we both ate it.  Turned out pretty good!

Then when she left, I did a little laundry and made my supper!  Almost forgot...she was here when I came home from breakfast with some of my former high school classmates.  That was a nice start for an otherwise down day!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I wish Everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

Where's SHIRLEY!

Well so much for rain! Not enough to put in a thimlbe. Guess it will be watering the garden tonight.

Kyle needs ot pick up lumber and we have a few things to do in town then home.I just have three borders to put on this quilt and it is done, then I can move onto another one.

Patricia, I am going to look up grayling and sheefish.I would say you have a good menu there with the meat and seafood. My Mom pickled but didn't can, she would sit for hours and peel the tiny onions to make pickled onions but not me!

Jane, hope Frankie is feeling better today..

Better scoot.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, another cloudy, filled with rain periods type of day. This weather is generally Interior August weather. If the old norms hold out, September will be cool but beautiful, and October will see the fall colors and leaf fall. Halloween should bring the first snow. Of course, nothing is generally expected, as we've seen over the past three years.

Amy, I certainly miss several of the foods I used to eat with impunity, especially indulging in chocolate and dairy. However, I don't miss the past hospital visits and not knowing why my body was suddenly turning on me.

I eat as our parents and grandparents did before all this convenience arrived. And I'm lucky to live in a farming community that hunts and fishes. It wouldn't be as adaptable in a large modern city. I'm told that chemical allergies are now the fastest growing in our modern society, increasing the most in infants and children.

Well, I can't get out of sleep mode & just got up for the 2nd time today. Even Fitbit is giving up on keeping track of my bedtime. I zonk out for several hours and wake up starved, like I am drugged. Not getting things done around here and since my doctor/doctors don't seem interested if finding what the problem is (only want to talk about putting the TAVR in and I don't want that).... so the kids want to pack me up for tests at Mayo... what I need is Miracle Whip, yes, I do.  That's the way it is. Feels hot out this afternoon, slept through the good hours this morning. Dumb-dumb..... lots of jobs waiting so better shake a leg or one of those Amy sayings.  Behave yourselves. Phyll, I copied your giggle, SO TRUE and it's usually ME that didn't read the sign~~~

Good morning...

Still no rain :(.. Finally finished the quilt top and not without frustration but it is done. Now to move on to another.
Picking up a few things in town then home to work about then can the icicle pickles.
Kyle made a "get up stool" for the neighbour, she also has a problem reaching the bottom of the washing machine and she is shorter than I am.

Jane, we will soon be able to slow down...after all the canning is done.

Patricia, I could live on sea food. Just not naked shrimp, batter them and I am good. :) When we went ot school we never heard of peanut allergy and a lot of kids had peanut butter sandwiches.

Phyliss, I have watched many do that and have to admit I am one if I don't see the sign in time.

Shirley, get yourself checked out. You being sleepy all the time is not good. Rattle that Drs door and make him listen to you.

Lloyd, it does take time and patience getting used to the hearing aids.Klye wears them and we have many a conversation that he think I said something else and I didn't. We do get good laughs over that.

Jenny, how are you doing?

Better move.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I had one of "Jim's Egg Thingys" for breakfast and it was filling and good and I'm ready to go!  It's foggy as heck out there and the temp is in the mid 50s heading for a high of 88 later today!  It kind of sounds like Autumn!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  Hey JENNY!  Are you ok!

Amy, you can have ours, another cloudy, full day of rain, and these old bones are squeaking.

This is river country, and fish and fishing are a big part of that.

Sheefish are known as the tarpon of the north. "A Sheefish (Inconnu meaning unknown fish in native Inuit) is the largest member of the whitefish family. Sheefish are silver or white and have really large scales with no visible markings or spots. In the Kobuk and Selawik rivers of northwest Alaska, Sheefish can get BIG I am talking 60+ lb and up-to and beyond 42 inches in length."

Grayling, "This species has dark-colored silvery scales and an elongated torpedo-shaped body. It has a tall, sail-like dorsal fin on its back which often has red or purple hues. Its tail fin is forked in shape as well. The largest adults reach up to 24 in. long and weigh up to 15 lbs. They're similar to brown trout, and both can be found in the same waters."

Shirley, I agree; you need to get that checked out.

Good morning..

Cool here this morning but it is going to race to the 90's, so work will get
 done early.
Going over to the farm to see about cucumbers, peaches and potatoes first then laundry will be done.

Yesterday I got a good laugh, thought I would go see the hens and they came running to the fence. I told them I didn't bring anything (food, grass) and it sounded as if one hen said awwwwwwwwwww. Can hear the rooster crowing now.

Better get ready  to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It looks like not much going on in here.  I went to sleep on the couch last night and then I just got up and hit the haystack without doing much of anything else.  I guess I was pretty tired last night!

I wonder if the other forums have any more activity than this one does.  I really like the people  who post here and I'd miss them if they left but our numbers are going down lower and lower.

It's very cool here this morning but heading for a high in the 80s again.  It sure does sound like Autumn is in the air!  Not sure I want all those leaves but I am glad to see the day-long heat go by!

Patricia, my opening picture on my computer today was Denali National Park.  Because it was Alaska, I thought of you!

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning, another cool, rainy day and a busy weekend ahead. Jane, Denali is 125 miles from me. I can look at the foothills and see the helicopters flying tourists over the range. Here's a news tidbit, Everest is the tallest mountain in the world due to Tibet's already higher elevation. If you put Denali and Everest next to each other on a flat surface, Denali would be taller.

Next week is another bad one. We received notices clipped to our doors late Friday afternoon that stated, "Our maintenance teams will be entering apartments to follow up on the work order inspections completed previously. This will take place on Tuesday through Thursday between 8:30 AM and 4:30 pm." I can only hope they start on the fifth floor rather than the first floor.

Then a rather ominous note, "For preventive purposes, a pest control company will be conducting building-wide apartment inspections. They will need access to your entire apartment and sleeping areas. This will take place on Monday and Tuesday from 10 am -2 pm. This inspection is required and "please do not hire cleaners to clean in your apartment prior to inspection." The last quotes are mine.

Checking in, really been moving slow around here but don't know who to tackle next. Primary doctor wasn't at all interested in any solution to my problem other than what the cardio wants and that is to put the TAVR in, about as dumb as doing heart surgery because I have a runny nose. Basically all are in the same mode so never disagree what the others dictate. I just don't play nice when they bully. Sorry, I sound like a broken record these days.

Did get a couple loads of laundry done & 2 more to go without taking sheets off or digging things out.  Went to the Farmer's Market but NO tomatoes around here, not even ones brought in!  Went to the store this afternoon and bought a couple that at least smelled like tomatoes. Better move or I'll fall asleep again. Sweet dreams & God Bless!

Another Blah day!  SHIRLEY, I don't know what all that medical stuff means to you but maybe they run together.   I know that when the nerve in my back gets pinched, I can have pain in my foot and it's coming from my back.  Maybe you could check a bit closer.  Just a thought... Don't mind me if you don't want to!  I just care about YOU!

I made a good dinner today because I thought Frankie was staying but she didn't.  And I don't have a ride to church tomorrow so....Darn it!

I'm off to the haystack a tad early tonight.  I got used to doing that down at Cindy's and I'm working my way out of it a little at a time!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

No chance of sleeping in here when, loons start calling across the lake, then crow hollers and Jays squalk.

A day of rest here...thank goodness.May start another quilt. My friend stopped in yesterday and left 3 yards of fabric that would be good for a couple of kids canceer quilts so.get the thinking cap on and see how to best use this along with other material to make them.

Patricia, do they do this inspection yearly? I guess in some cases it is needed to make sure everything is in order.

Jane, now you have some meals for another day......no cooking..bonus!!

Shirley, my thought when you're sleeping a lot was diabetis. My Mom slept and was thirsty all the time.

Good morning Lloyd .

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Amy, maintenance is "Supposed" to be done right away, and it was almost in the years prior when the seven buildings, privately owned,  had an entire crew alternating among them. In early 2020, it was announced that the bigwigs from the capital would be in town to do a full seven-building inspection.

Then Covid hit, and 24/7 maintenance and security got slashed to working eight-hour days with a revolving emergency crew. Then that was cut from eight to four maintenance and eight security to four for the seven state-owned and operated buildings. The proposed yearly corporate inspections were put off until this one.

As for pests, evidently, bedbugs were discovered on the first and second floors, and those were sprayed, and someone told me they put yellow stickers on those doors. I don't know why or how those particular residents feel about being labeled. In any case, they're now doing a floor-by-floor search on Monday and Tuesday.

After having similar circumstances in 2015, which gave me hives, they had all residents remove everything portable to the balconies while they sprayed the entire building. I purchased bedbug-proof covers for all pillows and both the foundation and mattress. I put the same types of traps the pest control recommended under the bed and couch legs that were moved away from the wall. So far, I have never seen a bedbug outside of photos, but just the idea is enough.

If they spray the entire building and again have us fill the balconies, I will be agitated, especially with the continual dampness and rain.

So, with people rummaging through the building along with possible bugs doing the same, I'm not happy.

We did get a light rain.....not much but some is better than none.

It was raining hard when friends dropped me off after church.  I had my lunch and was reading the paper when I noticed it had stopped so Cooper and I went for a walk.  He was a good boy and we got back before it started again.  It's been raining most of the day.  We're supposed to have about 3 plus hours off and then it's supposed to start again and last into the morning.  We sure did need it and it's coming down at a rate that the ground can take it in.  Thank you God for that!

I think Frankie might be staying over night tonight.  She doesn't have to work tomorrow and that's when she likes to be here.  I have dinner cooking just in case!

It's always a good Sunday when I make it to church and I thank the people who make that possible.  Not driving any more has it's disadvantages!

PATRICIA and AMY...I'm not in favor of bugs of any kind in my bed, furniture, rugs or wherever they choose to hang out!  They have their own places.  Why don't they just stay home?

I'm off to check on supper!  Frankie should be here around 6:30 and I think Cooper has the hours figured out!  He's on alert!  Hope everyone's day is going well!  Wish we had more posters!  Hope SHIRLEY is OK...PHYLLIS and GLORIA and RICK, too!  And where's JENNY?

That rain that's in Penn. is heading this way.  We're supposed to get rain starting around 2:00 am and continue through tomorrow. Apparently we also are in somewhat of a drought, with water levels lower than normal.
Saw on a local news site that the "No-See-Ums" are carrying a disease that is killing local deer. Not a problem to humans, but the deer are susceptible.

I'm heading for the haystack!  Frankie didn't stay so I'll not be sharing my bed with a cuddly doggie!  AMY, supper was a pot roast in the slow cooker and it was good but I didn't have company to eat that either!

I see, RICK found us and he's going to have my rain tomorrow but it's also hanging around here tomorrow.  It must just be spreading out!  I guess we'll see!

I'm off to the haystack!  I'm a bit later than I was in OKLA.  I think I'm getting back on track!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning" to LLOYD and AMY who showed up already!  The rain stopped sometime in the early morning but it's not finished.  It's supposed to start up again around noon.  Everything id WET!  It sure was a long time coming!

Haven't a clue what I'm doing today.  It's Frankie's day off and she usually manages to sleep in and then attacks stuff like laundry and cleaning or errands when she gets up.  I know there's a load of laundry in the dryer that needs to be put away.  And a couple of floors that need attention.  I guess I'll have things to do.

Tomorrow I have a dr. appt that isn't close by so that will pretty much shoot the afternoon and Wednesday I want to see how the tomatoes look at the Farmers Market!  I know I have a ride for the dr but I have to see about the Farmers Market on Wed.

I guess I better get a start.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good afternoon everyone.

Regarding bed bug.

If you live in a single house
then being able to control "bed bugs"
is easier,  and not so often a problem.

Well I live in the city in an apartment
comlex that has 155 indiviual apartments
so the "bed bug" problem CAN BE MORE
surviere .

Getting them is easier and permenantly getting
rid of them more difficult.

I hqve found that I need to monitor
the situation   daily,  qnd  pay attention.

I also keep the bed away from the walls
and using only white sheets and pink small
blankets makes it easy for me to check
every day and make sure no more of the
critters get to live with me.   I spray around
the floors with a good bed bug killer and
use vinegar and water on my bedding thAT
touches me.

and so far I have had good luck but I will
have to continue to do this as long as I live
in a large city dwelling.... which means
until I die.

I am also getting rid of "stuff" that I don't
need any longer  which makes things easier to
clean and pay attention to.

Taking cqre of myself keeps me independent
and getting rid of unnecessary things mAKES
TAKING  care of myself easier ... for how ever
long life goes on.

Have a good day everyone
Sandy

Lloyd, I've been sleeping off & on all day. Trash pick up today and I never did get back out to bring the dumpster up to the garage. Got to get out of this rut!  I watch all those westerns that you watch but if I blink too long I fall asleep. Still in the 90s here so that keeps me inside.

Lloyd, my birds have gone south but should be seeing different kinds as they travel through.  The big egrets & cranes must have left today, don't see a one down on the river tonight.  Saw a few early this morning.

When was the last time Gloria checked in?  Sandy, is that a new painting? NICE!

I was trying to figure what those biting bugs are that Rick & Amy are talking about but not sure what to Google. We have "oak mites" that you can't see but ride in on those oak leaves. 2 houses west of me & across the street were empty all summer & the yards didn't get watered so the pin oak in one & sycamore in the other are dropping their leaves like late fall. Both houses have people living in them now but guess it's too late to save the trees. Sadly, doesn't look like either family plan to pick up so when the wind blows they will park in MY front yard and I get to pick up.  I do know the kinds of trees/leaves that are mine and have been plotting how to shame them into doing their own yards. Wouldn't do any good to dump them back, just have to pick them up again!  The other day when looking out the window a dust devil had a whirlwind of leaves standing as tall as the houses out in the middle of the street.  Been kicking myself ever since that I didn't grab a camera to show you.  The way this house sits leaves blow up against the garage doors fill the garage every time I open one of the doors! Guess that's enough whining for today!  Gotta put some shoes on & bring the dumpster up, still 88 degrees.

HELLO TO EVERYFRIEND ‼️

I apologize for not posting in so long, but life has been very hectic recently.

My dads memorial and interment went very well. Everyone seemed pleased in general about the service, the gathering afterwards and our family time together.  I loved that all of our sons and their families were able to be together.  Dr. Dave arranged for a professional photographer to take photographs of us and we all look forward to seeing the pictures.  Our last professional photo was 5 years ago at our 50th wedding celebration.  We have added two grandsons since then and the ones in the picture have changed so much‼️

We all know that life goes on after a death in the family, and this morning I was feeling pretty low, but after reading all of the past posts from all of you I got the boost I needed to kick myself and realized how blessed I really am.

I think of you all everyday and and pray for the individual ones that need the extra prayers.

My "doctoring" continues and I hope I am nearing the end of all the testing that National Jewish has been doing for me.  They certainly have done a wonderful job of caring for me and I am praying that SOON they can say that nothing going on is too serious, and I can move on and enjoy my life more healthy than I was when I started with them🙏🙏🦋🦋

My best to you ALL.  I  hope to keep in better touch and find you all doing well!

Jenny

Frankie is spending the night so I'll probably have a little black and white cuddler in my bed tonight!  I always like that because I really miss my little girls!

I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Up early and will be out the door going to the city. Will meet up and pass on the quilt top to be quilted then to meet up with Bri and pass on canning  jars. My friend is not going to do much canning this year and has passed her jars onto me, along with jars from a friend of hers!

Jane, enjoy your cuddle pooch, they sure do love to snuggle!!

Jenny, good to hear from you. lets hope from here on in things do get a lot better for you.

Shirley, you reminded me of the dust devil that came along when I was raking hay. Took the hay high in the sky and left it hanging on the telephone lines. Had fun with that one telling folks  I was drying the hay on the line. :2funny:

Patricia, is all well at your end? Inspection done and they have moved on?

Better get a move on...

Good Morning...Afternoon and Evening!  I just discovered that I have not posted today.  I got up to a very foggy day, got Frankie off to work (she spent the night) and then took the little Cooper for a walk.  When I came back, the paper was here and I brought it in to read it and the texts from Cathy began.  They ended with her decision to head for the Farmers' Market around 11 this morning.  I got tomatoes to start the canning and they are all cleaned in two gallon jars in the fridge.

Tomorrow, I'll get the canner and jars out and get the tomatoes canned but first, Cathy is picking me up for a trip to Davy's and I'm going to add a few more tomatoes to what I have.  She's getting corn to freeze and I might just pick up another dozen to freeze.  It's so good later!  And it's a veggie that Frankie likes.  And I have a couple casseroles that use it.

I had 9 birdies around my new bird bath this morning but when I got back with the cameria, there were only 3 there.  I guess they've discovered it!  Now I not only have hungry birdies, squirrels and whatever but the birdies are clean and not thirsty!

LLOYD, did you have carrots for breakfast, lunch or supper?  They sound like they'd have been a good meal for whichever Nancy chose!

I'm heading out to get my supper now and I'm going to eat it while I watch "Mannix" on TV.  He sure was a cutie!

I hope you are all having a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning...

Beautiful day in the making here!!   Got to love these cooler mornings. Yesterday was a grand day, met up with our friends for a short visit before heading off to meet and give Bri her jars. She in turn gave us bacon and shotgunshells her and son made. Shotgun shells are stuffed pasta shells with sausage ,cheese and then wrapped in bacon and then put in the smoker.

Next stop was a fabric shop where I  got lucky. The piece of fabric I chose ,when the lady went to fold is she noticed a flaw running the length of the fabric, right in the middle of it. She asked if I still wanted it and I asked what she could do on the price..off to the manager she went and came back said how about 50% off? Well, YES..and I will take all of it please! I am only going to cut it up and can avoid that area!!

So, all in all we had a great day and home before it got blistering hot and humid.

Today is pick up hubbys meds, to the lumber store then home to play catch up..........why is it we never win on that game??

Jane, enjoy your day of canning. Just think of how good those tomatoes are going to taste come winter! Sounds like you are enjoying your new bird bath!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm sitting here waiting for the first canner full of tomatoes.  And when we go to Davy's, I'll have to grab a few more for the second canner full and to eat fresh.  I have 8 pints in the canner and I need at least 8 more pints.

AMY, how lucky can you get with the fabric!  That was a great buy!

LLOYD, lucky you to have those good carrots and lucky you to have NANCY!

I better get back to the kitchen.  The maters are almost done and then I have to get some lunch and get ready for a trip to Davy's.  I sure do love that store!  Have a great day, Everyfriend!

AMY, you got more done today than I did and I thought I was moving along!  I have 16 pints of tomatoes sitting on the dining room table...8 cooled and ready to be labeled, 8 fresh out of the canner!  Along with that job, I made a trip to Davy's with Cathy and filled in some holes in my supply hoard!  And I'm tired.  Cooper had 2 walks and his breakfast and about an hour and a half out in the yard, barking at "stuff".  I could never see anything but he could!  Now he's gone home with his Mommy for the night.

I think I'm finished for the day!  There's some leftover Chili in the fridge and I'm having that for supper and I've already eaten my Whoopie Pie from Davy's.  Don't know if I'll be back today.  I might start another knitting project in front of the TV tonight...maybe I will and maybe I won't!

One thing I don't understand...how does one peel and cut up two loads of laundry?  I understand how you did the peaches but I'm puzzled about how (and why) you "peeled and cut up two loads of laundry!  Please explain!

I can imagine with all the work you did that you are more than ready to put your feet up.

Good morning..

Woke to the sound of rain, there is a saying rain before 7 am quits before 11 am ,so we shall see. Nice part is we don't have to water the garden or the new grass seed.

Both dogs took a look outside and said nope don't have to go, thank you! Jesse doesn't mind the rain butBabe isn't a fan of it.

Blue Jays are slowly coming back and squalking...soon be time to put seed out for them.Yesterday crow flew away with a hamburg bun in it's mouth......funny looking..

Better see what I can do before we go out..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning AMY and anyone who appears later!  I'm up and attem.  Cooper arrived. had his breakfast, took a walk and is enjoying the cool time in the yard.  I think that's one of the reasons he likes to come here...he can spend time outside without a leash on.

I have spaghetti sauce cooking with the last of the tomatoes and the 16 pints are wiped and ready to be labeled and put away.  Next week, I'll get more tomatoes to make tomatoe sauce for recipes and chili sauce and make some spaghetti sauce to can.  Maybe I'll pick up a few more ears of corn while I'm at the Farmers Market.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Another day  of partial rain.. Picked up our cucumbers and could have come away with another dog!! The lady is a foster mom for an animal resue and now has a sweet brown Border Collie. She said his owner has now gone back to work and doesn't have the time needed for him. I would love to get him but with two at the moment that needs our attention. I sure hope he goes to a good home..maybe one with a  young child that can just love him to pieces.

Cucumbers are all cut up and ready for the next step in 8 days........have 6 batches of them.

Jane how did the canning go? I have yet to label the beets, may do that later..

Where is Lloyd???

Good Night Everyfriend!

AMY!  All the tomatoes are wiped off, labeled and put away.  I didn't get more corn and the tomatoes that were left have been made into spaghetti sauce for eating right now!  I had some for supper and it was EXTRA good!

We got a little rain here this early evening so I didn't do any outside watering.  I think it might have been just enough.

Frankie is going to Maryland to visit her Mother...leaving early in the morning.  So my little canine friend will make the trip with her and I'll be home alone!  I do have the birdies thought and a groundhog has found his way through the fence and is cleaning up under the bird feeder.  I haven't named him yet but I have a couple of ideas rolling around in my brain!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

What a difference in temp..44° at the moment. Heading to town in a bit to pick up a few items at the grocery store..then home to do laundry.

Patrica, is the weather cooling down there?

Jane, have fun naming the ground hog...I named the rooster behing us Horatio..love hearing him any time of day.

Better scoot, if I get laundry started before town I may bake bread..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Seems funny to get up and not have to hurry around to be ready to meet up with Cooper!

AMY, when you do the laundry you're not going to "peel and cut it up" are you!  If you keep doing that you'll soon be shopping for new "stuff"!

I'm thinking of calling the ground hog "Alley-Oop" because he does his trick at the fence to get in and out!  And for the size of them, they can move pretty fast so I was also considering "Zoomy" as a name for him!

Guess I better get this day moving!  Make it a good one!  Better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Another day is winding down and it wasn't without laughter. Kyle was sitting outside on the verandah when the resident red squirrel made the mistake of climbing on the railing beside him. When Kyle turned to see what the motion was , the red squirrel took off, peeling up the paint on the top rail. Not to be out done Jesse, took off and peeled up the boards on the verandah floor after him. No one was hurt but it sure gave a belly laugh. This red squirrel has been storing pine cones in our light house on the fron yard, non stop!!

Going to be a fry day in the making here along with thunder storms. We are off to the city ,Kyle has blood work, echo doppler and then he comes home with a heart monitor on.

Hard to believe that Aug is on the way out......seems it just got here. I do like the cooler weather that comes with Fall and the squalking Blue Jays :)

Jane, Bri is canning 50 lbs of carrots today and may go back for another 50!! Their dogs also like carrots but are especially fond of pumpkin.

Better get a move on..need to do a few things before we leave, one is show the neighbour the Rescue Remedy and how to give it to Babe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem for a bit.  Cooper has arrived and had his breakfast and is now ready for his first walk of the day.  That's next on my agenda.

AMY,  I'm so glad the Rescue Remedy is working for your doggie and that you are sharing its good with others.  I got the idea from my niece and I've passed it around a lot.  In fact, I think it's high time the company reimbursed me for all the sales I've initiated.

Last evening, my son and family picked me up and took me out for supper with them.  It wasn't any special occasion...just us together and it was nice!  We talked non stop.  His daughter, my granddaughter, Kiran, is beginning her Sophomore year in high school and will be 16 in December!  I thoroughly enjoyed sitting across the table from her and catching up!

Now I better get my shoes on and take Cooper-Snoops for a walk before it's too late!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I didn't get nearly as much done as you girls but am closed up for the night. Put the dumpster to the curb & even cut some wild low branches on the sycamore tree planted a year or so ago.  I had some young trees that I put in monster pots a few years ago, once in the ground they do better than what we bought from the nurseries, but I put more than one to a pot & plan to keep the best shaped but never have the heart to throw away the rejects, kinda weird looking yard,  :crazy2: but I love shade any way I can get it.

Congratulations on the good reviews, Jane & Amy/Kyle..... always a relief to have that doubt wiped away. I go for my eye exam tomorrow & hope new glasses will help get rid of the eye aches, not really head aches. I think they tested for glasses after the cataract surgery before the eyes had finished changing. Had the one med they used that caused 2 & a half weeks of conjunctivitis so caused a delay in the 2nd eye & rush to fit glasses cause I couldn't drive until I got them. Anyway, will be happy to see if the new glasses will help & your good news more than welcome!

Sure wish we could share some of your rain, we had half an inch night before last but I didn't water that next day because I had the slide out on the motorhome & it covers a couple of the sprinkler heads, and this morning I already had some yellow leaves on the ground under the sweet gum tree. The water table is down this year so trees are suffering  because their roots don't go down deep enough. Vicious circle in sandy soil of rain water going straight through the sand.

Got to eat a snack & get ready for bed. Just remembered I put a load of laundry in before I headed outside & want to get it dry & folded before going to bed to eating will be last and sleep will be last-er.  Sweet dreams & God Bless All.  Shirley

I'm up and attem and Cooper is ready for his walk so as soon as I finish my coffee, I'll be off!  Today, Cathy is picking me up to go to WM and I'm getting my hair cut and picking up some "stuff".

I wish Everyfriend a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning
we had another dandy storm during the night but no tornado that was  mentioned.

Have a few min to sit then off to town for hubby to get his holter on.

I picked 3 puffballs this morning  and will see how they are, may cook them up later. They are also good sliced thin with mayo  on.

Jane, "stuff" is getting expensive!!

Patricia, thank you for posting Lloyds messages.. I was talking with a lady at the hardware store this morning and she said that the storm bothered her cat, do storms  bother Farrah?? On that note my friend sent me photos of kittens up for adoption, said they didn't last long and now all have new homes.

Time to go  get Kyle "wired"

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

The following was posted by Lloyd in another place - that hadn't been posted to for ages.  I'm sure he meant for it to be here.

Good morning; a fitting end to August with the skies white and rain off and on all week. Our temperatures are in the forties to fifties, and none of the leaves on bushes and trees have changed, which should happen in September with a Halloween snow. Or it would typically occur if things weren't so weird all over the country.

I usually check the unread when I come to S&F, and Lloyd, you've been all over the place. Perhaps, your granddaughter or someone at home can set you up with a direct link here.

Jane, this past month has been filled with not only the usual end of the season, billing, paperwork, and events, but it has also had several unforeseen calamities in the building. I can only hope that the weather, building, and life settle to a calm before the next storm.

Speaking of storms, Amy, Farrah used to become agitated; however, in the past couple of years, she has gotten calmer, more settled, and more affectionate. Even idiots setting off the building's fire alarms by opening their door to announce they have their cooking mishaps under control no longer phase her. Fire and carbon dioxide alarms are sensitive, and everyone knows it. We're to use the fan when cooking, but people grow careless.

I've taken her to the vet for her yearly checkup and dental workup, and he tested her hearing which is fine. I tested it at home, and she heard everything but watched my reaction and followed my lead. She'll be ten in early September, putting her at the higher end of middle age for cats. We're just two seniors hanging out, and she has great roommate skills.

Back from getting the holter on hubby, young lady was very good and quick about it. They used to put the monitor in a case but now it is taped and lots of it to his chest. This is going to be interesting when it has to come off on Thur.

Patricia, good to hear from you.Good that Farrah doesn't let the storms bother her.

Patricia, and whoever else looks here. ---
The problem with a link to this Board is that periodically a New/Clean place is started. So,  The URL would change each time.

He could have a link to the first page and then click on the highest page number. But I'm not sure how that would go over.

Sorry, Rick, I didn't know about that as I use a browser-based S&F bookmark.

I click on the unread link at the top right of the page when I come here to navigate.

That's what I do too. But when Bubble starts a new Page you have to go there and "mark" your place (or Post there).
I think Lloyd wants to go directly to "Soda Shop", not find it from other choices.  Not sure I made myself clear.

I have saved a link (same as Bookmarking) to "Unread Posts", but that usually gives you more than one place to go to.  If someone cleared his cookies and then he only went to "Soda Shop"it might work. BUT -----

I understood what you were saying, and since my time zone is four hours behind, I never have to worry about marking my place. I agree with you about not knowing how to help Lloyd.

Good Mofninb Everyfriend!  It's a cool morning but supposed to be hot and humid later!  Cooper is here and he's ready for his morning walk.  And I like to do that before the heat comes.

Later, Cathy is picking me up and we're making a trip to the Farmers Market to get more tomatoes.  This time it will be spaghetti sauce and tomato sauce and paste for recipes.  The only part of this that I'd rather not face is peeling the tomatoes.   But what must be done, must be done!

AMY, I'm not sure if my job will be easier or yours will.  I'm not a big fan of peeling potatoes either!

I better get Cooper out and be done with that before Cathy texts me to say she's ready to go!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Back from physio and potatoes may have to wait. We had a nice rain and more may be on the way.
Jane, it took me a long time to wise up to peeling potatoes for canning. I now peel them with my apple peeler, one that screws onto the table. I does a reasonable job and yes, I do have a bit of hand work cleaning around the eyes of the potatoe. But..the job is much faster now!!

Still here.  The sun angle says it is autumn but the thermometer thinks it is still summer.  Hot and humid here today but not too unpleasant.

To join the food discussion...sort of....I ordered a food kit from Papa Spuds last week and made the best succotash I have ever had.  Everything came fresh right from the local gardens except for salt, pepper, and garlic.  Those things I always keep in the kitchen.  All I needed to do was cut the corn off the cob, rinse the baby lima beans, chop up the other vegetables (tomatoes and onions), add the fresh basil, Italian parsley, other seasonings, and simmer it for about 20-30 minutes on the stove and we sat down to a really good dinner.  David loved it, too.

I was tired from standing and walking that long but thoroughly enjoyed being productive once again.

Take care, All.

PHYLLIS and AMY, I'm interested in both your short cuts but the Papa Spuds thing sound like it might be local to where you live, PHYLLIS.  However, that apple peeler thing might be something I can get for when I do potatoes.  I'm going to look it up!

I got my tomatoes and I'm GOING to get them peeled this afternoon!!

Jane, this is the one I use..

https://tinyurl.com/mvv8ffyu

Don't forget if you have a lot of corn to cut off the cob, stand the cob on top of an angel food pan and all the corn drops into the pan, easy to put into packaging or???  Less mess too

well, here I am, talking to myself again!  I'm telling myself that I'm heading for the haystack.  I don't have to be up early because Frankie doesn't go to work until 10 tomorrow so I won't have Cooper until about 9:45.  But I feel sure I'll be awake earlier because they are still working on my neighbor's driveway and those truck that will be arriving at 7 a.m. are NOT quiet!  And I'll have to be ready to run down to the corner when Frankie and Cooper get here because they won't be able to drive down the road.

All my stuff is ready to make spaghetti sauce to can tomorrow. So that's my day coming up.  Gonna be a busy one...lots of maters and stuff!  The cooking will take a while but I'm hoping to get it all done tomorrow!  We shall see!

Almost forgot to say...PHYllIS your dinner plan sounds so good!  Wish that was around here.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!
