From Euronews and Ethical Hackers on new hacking scams

"World-renowned cybersecurity expert, ethical hacker, author and former U.S. Marine, Bryan Seely also spoke at GITEX. Seely became recognised in the hacking world in 2014 when he became the only person to ever wiretap the United States Secret Service and FBI to expose hidden criminal activity.

Seely told Euronews that since the world went into lockdown hackers have created new and more effective ways to scam people and corporations. One way that many people have fallen victim to hackers is clicking on a phishing email link that has been coordinated with home deliveries. Seely said it is almost impossible to tell the difference from the hackers' email and the companies they are impersonating.

When asked how to be safe online, he stressed 'never click on a link from someone you do not know'. Other points he advised were to never reuse passwords and to always activate two-factor authentication. Highlighting the importance of being safe online, he said: "if you don't, you deserve what's going to happen to you"'.

Well, the  :tickedoff:  :tickedoff:  :tickedoff: virus has messed up family plans for the week!

While Miss Emily's family was in Kansas for her graduation they learned that she and her Mom had been exposed a week ago to someone who tested positive (no report on whether this person actually had Covid) .  All 5 of them were tested when they got home.  Dad, Miss Ellen and Sir Carson were negative but Emily and Mom tested positive.

Although Emily has no symptoms at all and Mom was on a Z-pack for a sinus infection,, Christmas get-together is, of course cancelled.

So are plans for my birthday.  Actual day is Wednesday but we had planned to go "out in the country" tonight to see the "Christmas Star",  pick up dinner on the way home and then drive through one of the park light displays.

Fortunately, I haven't seen any of them in about 3 weeks but will surely miss doing so this week.  Miss Ellen has changed her flight back to NYC to January 3 so I hope I'll be able to spend a little time with her the week after Christmas.

Onward and Upward.

Amy

Callie, I am so sorry hope Miss Emily and Mom feel better and soon. This is a sad time for all and my heart goes out to you.

This was sent to me..

- A pastor attended a men's breakfast in the middle of a rural farming area.

The group had asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast :

"Lord, I hate buttermilk," the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wonder where this was going.

The farmer loudly proclaimed, "Lord, I hate lard." Now the pastor was growing concerned.

Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, "And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour."

The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable.

Then the farmer added, "But Lord when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits.  So Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard when we don't understand what you're saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen."

Within that prayer, there is great wisdom for all when it comes to complicated situations like we are experiencing in the world today.

Stay strong my friends, because our life is being mixed with lots of things that we don't care for.......relax and wait until the mixing is done.

Shirley

Love the prayer, Amy, and it sounded like biscuits from the start to me 'cause I feel the same. I copied to send to a number of people that will enjoy. Thanks!

Can't get me in gear. Still plan to grind all that roast tonight (with help from Kitchen Aid & grinder attachment). Oops, here comes Tom & Tiger looking for supper. Mama Callie is probably waiting at the front door, she thinks she is special since her kids come in the back door. Driving me crazy having to figure ways to keep them from wandering off in the other part of the house with that folding door still not working. Supposed to be fixed in the morning. #1 son keeps booked solid!

Not sure I mentioned before that my good friend (10 days younger than I am) had Covid & even though she passed out & spent a night in the hospital, is fine now.

But sadly, the high school friend we had the "wake" for about 3 years ago when doctors told him he had 6 months to live.... did pass away this week. He never was angry that they miss diagnosed him early and did not push him to keep his muscles strong so spent the past years in a wheel chair. Very good person and he will be missed.

I called my sister to wish her a Happy Birthday (Christmas Day) early because all 6 of her children & (?)grands will be calling on the day. It has been a busy week and doesn't seem like I have gotten anything done.

Still don't have this table cleaned off & that is a MUST DO so my 6 people can visit for a couple hours during the holidays. The weather is unusually warm for this time of year, but we are dry. At least the days grow longer so SPRING IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

Lloyd Hammond

good night and sweet dreams. see you all in the morning.

Lloyd

JaneS

SHIRLEY, I was tempted to run out and look around the corner when you said "Spring is just around the corner" but I decided to wait until it's daylight out.

I know about "cleaning things off.  I cleaned off the bed and dresser in my spare room today.  They were acting as my gift collection area and now I have them in my wrapping area in the store room because my wrapping is all done.

Tomorrow, as soon as Cooper arrives, I'll make a trip to Davy's and get the rest of the stuff I need for the weekend when my daughter and her husband will be here.  I did some running around but I couldn't go to Davy's because I had to take Mickie along.  She just does not like to be left alone since Annie is gone.  I thought she might adjust but it's been a year and she hasn't.  So I'm really glad that Cooper comes as often as he does.  It's more work for me but I can get some errands done when he's here.

I have most of my "outside-the-family" deliveries made.  I just have to take the little bags to the 3 neighbors on my block.  My good friend lives on the corner and both of the men in the other two house are more than willing to help me out with whatever I need done in the yard and they won't accept money for it..  So I give them treats for Christmas and veggie soup when I make it.

I love the music everyone is posting!  Tis the season.....!!

CALLIE, my DIL works at our local Starbucks and they just closed down because two of the people who work there have tested positive for COVID so my Son and his family will not be joining us for Christmas brunch and dinner.  I know how you feel because I feel it too!

Thanks for the prayers for CLINT.  My news today is that he's feeling slightly better.  If that happens every day, he'll be back on his feet soon.

Now I have to make up my list for tomorrow and get ready for bed  It's another early and busy one tomorrow.  I'll be hitting the haystack early and I have a feeling it's going to be loaded with zzzzzs because I didn't get to use any of them today.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Good morning..

Can't believe tis weather, not much snow and warm for this time of year. Now having said that I am sure we will freeze and have snow up past our asters. I did hear that some are putting their ice huts out  to go fishing.

I want to pick up extra dog food and some fresh vegetables for us at the grocery store. Want to get in and get out before the long lines start.

Jane, that is good news about Clint..hope he is home soon.

Shirley, you're welcome. I also sent it along to others.

Gloria, prayers for your SIL and daughter. Hope he is soon home also.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will be a shrty because I have to get in and out of the shower before Cooper gets here and I have to do it between washer fill-ups just in case the washer takes my water away.  I've never noticed if it does that.

My day is off and running!  I hope I can keep up!  I hope you all are feeling well and avoiding the germy places!  The things I have to do today, are places that I can keep my distance and when I get back, all that will have to be done before Christy gets here is clean.....the house and MICKIE (she needs a bath)

I wish you all a good day.....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning everyone, finally woke earlier than I have been. 6:am feels be tter, will have my 2 cups of coffee and breakfast without rushing before Yvette gets here.
Yes terday a nur se from the company Yve tte works for was here. She was here a few mpntha ago and got the covid. a couple of weeks aft er her visit. She kept her mask on the whole time she was here and she is doing grea t, no after effect s for her and she is a diabetic, too. I have hand sanitizers around in here and she used them, too. I was glad t o see that. I know when my sons come here they wash their hans as soon as they come in. I like seeing them do that.
My SIL is on oxygen and yes terday when my daught er finally got  through to a nurse taking care of him told her that he has to start breathing on his own before they release him. They have kept the oxygen hooked up on him he has not had a chance to breathe on his own. Crazy excuse for a hospital. When we got off Skype yes terday she was going to call him and tell him about the breathing on his own.
Wow lot of posts yes terday t ha t I canno t reply to all of them.

Just heard on the news that for Christmas Eve we will get rain and wind. Heck it would be better if it was lightly snowing instead.

AMY  love what was sent to you and you shared with us. I hope you do not mind but I copied it to send to others. That is a good one.

If I don' t get my breakfas t made I will slill be in my nightsown and robe when she gets here. She is coming at 10 today because her first client before me has an appointment and will be picked up at 9:30. I am really slow in the mornings. Have to cal the dentist to see if I can get in there. One tooth came out and the one next to it broke. Those are the 2 my dentist told me had to come out. both had cavaties in the gums showed up in the xrays.

Have a good day everyone and please God keep everyone safe from the covid.

good morning everyone. I have been up about a 1/2 hour reading the post's.
I had a very good  night's sleep- according to the tattletale on My breathing machine 9 and 1/2 hours. we had a good friend and his wife come by for a good visit last night. he gave us some good advice for our up coming court date. heart doctors have advised me to stop driving, good and bad. safety will be good, but being to get in motor home and go will be out. so may have to get rid of it. grand daughter and firmly here is great. but away goes our independence. as they say all is well that ends well. sun is shinning very good, it is 27ยบ and going for 59ยบ they say for here. see you all later.

Lloyd

Shirley

Lloyd, if my Fitbit ever told me I got 9 & a half hours of sleep I'd pinch myself to see if I'm really awake!  I was going to get rid of my RV after the last trip to CO with my oxygen down to 74 & got back & had to buy all those new tires. BUT, I am okay to go to MO and the kids are all ready to make a trip to the diamond mine in Arkansas... At any rate, I'm not jumping the gun to get rid of it yet. You can ask Nancy if she wants to drive  ;) (I know, Cas couldn't stand MY driving).... but other thought is that everyone tells me these motor homes & campers are selling like hotcakes because it is the safest way to travel & not catch COVID. Sorry your doctor said not to drive it, but I do know my auto club is NOT to be counted on for help. If my son had not been with me on the way home I would still be stuck in Dodge City! (well, slight exaggeration).... And you shouldn't count on being able to do everything yourself anymore, either! So, that is my NON advice!

Gloria, do hope Gary can get off the oxygen and be home with Regina.... I'm with you about her being along "out in the boonies". Does she have a gun, know how to use a gun? I would have one stashed in every room... not afraid but know I'm no match for most people that break into a house. I also keep a can of wasp spray at front & back doors since I read it sprays farther than MACE or pepper spray. Be prepared... somebody's motto...oh, think the Boy Scouts? One time when my mother was in the hospital they kept putting off letting her go... until she found out they kept her because her temperature was above "normal".... She quickly explained "it is always above normal when she was stressed, and she wouldn't be stressed at home!"

Haha, Jane, I never did find out if the shower water slows down if the washer is running. Long, long time ago it did.  :crazy2:

Amy, I am shocked to think the ice would be thick enough for fishing huts. We haven't had a hard enough freeze to even see ice in the water bowls outside. Cats could go to the river for a drink but might fall in.  ;)

Son was over & fixed my folding door & tightened the handle on the faucet at the sink. We looked & looked for the allen wrenches & he had to get his own from his car. I know I have several sets but ordered another from Amazon today, will get here before Christmas! This time they will go where I know where they are! I keep a tool bag of MY stuff that I haul in the motorhome or house, where ever I am and one kitchen drawer filled with the ones I use most! I used to be able to fix most anything but no more.

And now to get back to work.

Amy

For a day that didn't have too much planned it sure got busy!We did get shopping early at 7 am  plus picked up two cases of dog food and some dry food. I did get the kitchen ceiling washed then did the floors. Mail brought bills so back into town to pay them after we took some raisin bread to a neighbour. Going to  just relax tonight.

Lloyd, time for you to take care of you.I understand how hard it is to give up your license but safety first and we want you here. Nancy needs you also, plus she can drive. Not an easy decision but the right one .J M H O

The haystack calls and I'm about to answer it!  I hope you all had a good day...busy or not so busy.  I got all my last minute errands run and now I'm trying to think of what I forgot because Frankie is off tomorrow and is going to make a WM run.  She'll stop here on the way to leave Cooper so I can give her money to get my forgotten items.

SHIRLEY, the house where I raised my kids had that water problem.  If you turned the water on anywhere else in the house it took it away from the shower.  If you used hot, you froze the shower taker.  If you cold you scalded the shower taker.  My husband always announced it in a loud voice when he was going to take a shower and we all know that meant "keep your hands off the faucets."

I got all my running around errands done this morning.  And than included a hair cut.  I was beginning to feel like Cousin ITT on the Munsters.  I soon would have been able to use my hair for a face mask!

Then I made two quick stops and a longer stop at Davy's Fresh Market.  I think I have everything I need but I'm going to be thinking about that until Frankie gets here tomorrow. Of course, the hardest part of shopping for groceries is putting them away.  You come home tired and there are all those bags just sitting there in the car.  So you get them into the house and they still just sit there!  There ought to be a button you can push to have them jump into their places.  Back in the old days, I played it smart.  I went to the grocery store while the kids were still in bed Saturday morning and by the time I got home I had 4 teenagers who wanted to see what I got.  They carried them in and put them away before they were allowed to eat anything.  I could get used to that again.

LLOYD, now you can see what a good driver Nancy is!  If you can't drive any more and you want to go somewhere, it's her turn to call the shots!  Sometimes we have to listen to the drs. whether we want to or not and AMY said it right.  We need you in here.  So mind the dr.

I'm heading for the haystack right now.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Shirley go buy another set and when you get home and go put them up you most likely fiend the others right right front of you. well i drive safer in the motor home using the rear view mearos on the side like they were on the road tractor truck.

Good morning..

Another day closer to Christmas, two  more sleeps and it will be here!  I have some gifts to wrap yet and that should be it other than last minute jobs to do.

Kyle wants to go to the lumber store for a few things and then back home for the day. Mr Tom T Turkey is thawing in the fridge . This will be a different Christmas for many ,our family is staying put this year no getting together like we have done in the past years.

Jane, wish I could get my hair cut but the salon has closed up and now we will be under lock down and no salons open. Do you think I should let Kyle have a go at it??? ;D  The new taps now have a safety feature built in and there is no freeing or boiling others in the shower.

Shirley to my way of thinking I don't think the ice is thick enough either but he said there was 10 inches of ice. Each year we always hear of someone going through the ice on their snow machines, some make it out while others don't.

Prayers for those in the hospital or not feeling well...

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Gloria

Good morning everyone, good news, my SIL went home yesterday. When daughter and I were on Skype I saw him walking around in their living room. That made me feel better and my daughter is happy to have him home. I feel much better, too, t o see him where he belongs, home. I called the dentist  yest erday morning and was surprised to  an appoiment for this afternoon. I called my son to ask if he cand take me and he said yes. He has never had a tooth break like mine did or fall oout, either. The broken one is agravating the inside of my mouth and the one that fell out has the root sticking out. The dentist will have to dig them out. Oh fun. I will not feel anything until it starts thawing out. Thought I would have to wait a month to get in.

Just heard the wea ther report, not one I like for Christmas. Rain and very strong winds-up to 65mph. Makes me want to stay home but if i do I will miss seeing my great grandson. He is such a smart kid, On Thanksgiving he was teaching me how to use my new iphone. Imagine a 5 year old teaching an old woman how to do things.

AMY  rather have cold and snow for Friday. The snow we have on the ground will go fast with the rain except the piles from the plows. Has no t been below freezing long enough for ponds and lakes here to freeze for ice fishing or ice skating.

LLOYD  the time comes when we do have to give up driving. When I no longer could make a sharp left turn because of my shoulders I gave my son my car key, still miss the independence but don't like going out much anymore. We need and want you here in the SS for yeatrs to come.

SHIRLEY  a few days ago I was hungry and decided to make myself a good meal, when I finished I was worn ou t and could only eat a few bites and lef a sisnk full of dirty pans and dishes. I just could not tackle them. Yvette did them the next day. She keeps telling me  that at 89 I am lucky to be able to do anything. I feel like I am just too lazy to do anything because I was always on the go just a few years ago.

JANE  I liked it when my 3 were stil home and I had gone shopping for groceries and they helped bringing them in and putting every thing away. Now Yvette does the shopping and puts things away. She had to learn when I put something on my list that is what i want and not something else. If they do not have what I have on the list get nothing.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Sunny and cold this morning but like the rest of you on the East coast that is going to change.  Rain coming in tonight and will stay through Christmas Day.  And, Lloyd is sending us his wind from Missouri, I guess.  I don't particularly like the rain but I purely hate the wind.  But, as long as the trees don't fall on the house I guess we will be all right.

Other than taking the steaks and the pie out of the freezer to thaw I'm pretty well ready for Christmas...as much ready as I am going to be this year.  It's going to be pretty quiet for us and I think for the neighborhood, too.  Most people that I know are planning to keep it kind of quiet.  Covid cases are climbing pretty high around here.

Good news about your SIL, Gloria.

Take care, All.

Good morning from the Interior. We've been in the mid-thirties today and yesterday, but tomorrow we're due to go back to circling zero. Has anyone been watching for Saturn and Jupiter? According to astronomers, this is the closest they've been visually since 1630 and won't be again until 2040.

Nothing new here; I received a quick visit and exchanged another set of gifts with friends yesterday and worked on my PSP programs for most of the evening. It was behaving badly all last week, and I ended up revamping my computer a few days ago and reinstalling W10 and all those updates. Now it's my PSP's turn. Such an exciting life I'm leading!

Since last March, we've been on lockdown, and each time it begins to slow down, someone does something, and cases began climbing again. So I expect Christmas to be much the same, quiet but hopefully sane.

Shirley

I'm here, thinking but the Covid fog continues.... haha, we'll blame it on that instead of AGE!  Today is get it done day.... got to clean off this table & get out the Christmas table cloth & serving dishes. My grown kids are coming on Monday for lunch & just to visit, the food not the main reason. I'm not mingling with the little ones since they can't even tell if they've had Covid or not, especially since "they" are thinking there may be different strains of this virus.

Gloria, so happy your SIL is home, do they get snow at all in their area?  I remember the photos from actually before they moved, just building. What fun to think of building your own little world like that. We built a house & extra building but only one acre of land so did have 30+ houses on that 80 acre piece of ground. Nice your dentist worked you in, for sure those sharp edges can shred the inside of the mouth.

Do you use the old fashioned "baking soda & salt" mix to heal? I keep a "Dixie" cup with it in my bathroom cabinet at all times & just pat it on after brushing, if any kind of sore in the mouth. Back when I was a kid you used that or if it was a "gum boil" we would get a little serving of cold kraut & that would get rid of it fast or a tad more kraut. My mother spent a lot of time with her grandmother so knew all those old remedies.

The wind is howling here & temps falling even though the sun is shining.  Would not surprise me to find one or more of the big trees laying over, they are wagging back & forth & working their way loose. The darn beaver have come up onto the bank & chewed off one of the trees I hoped to see stay. Have 2 large ash trees & a 3rd I'm now positive, the bark looks a little different. That's the one they cut down yesterday & the inside core is almost red. Never know where these trees come from, I only planted the sycamore & the wisteria. I will take a camera down next time & maybe someone knows their wood better than I do.

My son got shots of the moon the other night but too cloudy to see the special "Christmas Star" our news talked about. My daughter in St.Louis was upset with her husband for not being willing to get out their telescope since their sky was clear. Andy used his telecope & camera/phone.... I'll see if Bubble will post one of the photos for me. I've got to move this computer back to the bedroom & can't be running back & forth to do all my kitchen jobs. I will also get to run up & down the steps quite a few times since all those Christmas dishes are stored in boxes as far as possible from where they need to be. I know I'll be worn out but hope all goes well one more time! Think positive!

JaneS

Hmmmmm...Nobody in here since SHIRLEY at noon!  Everyone must be as busy as I am.  I really wore myself out with the cleaning today.  I'm more than ready for the haystack tonight!

I have all the cleaning done from the back of the house to the front with the living room and dining room to do tomorrow.  And he cleaning involved stripping and washing the bedding on one bed all the way from the mattress pad to the bedspread.  My plan is to do the rest of the cleaning  immediately in the morning so I can spend the rest of the day with dinner/breakfast  plans and welcoming my company whenever they arrive.

I have one thing to wrap and some stockings to stuff tomorrow, too.  Frankie finished my shopping today. She also gave both dogs a bath so I had a load of towels to do after that. The hamper was half full before she started and I had a bunch of dish towels, too.

GLORIA, nice that your SIL is home.  I haven't heard a report today from my granddaughter.  I don't know how her hubby is doing.  I'm hoping she just forgot to let me know.

One more day and a "git-up" and it's Christmas!  It's going to be a different one for lots of people!  I sure hope it's a safe one!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  I also wish everyone a BLESSED CHRISTMAS EVE!

Good morning..

How did Christmas eve get here so fast?? Down to the last minute gatherings of food and wrapping gifts day.

Not a lot going on here today, delivering some trays of goodies to friends and that is it. Roads are going to be slippery later on so everything will be done this morning. Raining at the moment ,driving later on may be slippery...

Gloria, good news to hear your SIL is home...no place like home for a better sleep .

Jane, I just have one basket of laundry to fold and that is it until Sat. Although there is only the two of us I always have laundry to do......we are either darn dirty or darn clean:) Then there are the dogs bed
in the house and in the van  their comforters.

Shirley I blame brain fog on having so much information to store in my head . Until I get a better excuse that is the one I am sticking with. If you wrap the trunks of the trees you don't want the beavers to chew it may save them.

Patricia, we are going into lock down here after
Christmas . I can't imagine being locked down as long as you have been. We are well stocked here and just need milk but a trip to the dairy will fill that order. They have a window that you put your order in and the lady will bring what you want, no going in the store.

Phyllis, you mean sounds good to me.  We have a small turkey  and I am going to make dressing in the instant pot.

Callie, Joy and Sandy, I hope all is well there..

Good morning every one, well one broken tooth and roots of anothe lost tooth are out and she worked to get them out I was in there seemed forever and my son waiting in his car. I should have  told him t o go home and would call when I was done. Only about 5 minutes away from the dentist.
When he came to get me yesterday my DIL sent a bowl of pudding and a bowl of tapioca pudding with him. Leave it to her t o send me some thing I could have when I got hungry. She is  the one I call my second daughter. Always thoughtful.

I emailed my daughter when I got home because I could not talk on Skype, She replyed and said she was outside with my SIL and he had more energy yesterday. God heard our prayers.

PHYLLIS  from what the weather guessers are saying Christmas day will be a little short of a hurricane. I feel more like s taying home  than going  to my son's home.

SHIRLEY  they have had snow in the area t hey live in in Arizona, doesn' t last long though. Some par ts ge t a lot of snow and even have skiing and a ski lift. The mountains they see from where they are have snow on the tops of them. I found it hard to believe a t first  that they had snow there. I have been  told to rinse with salt wa ter, that from more than one dentist.

JANE  I never found      time  to sign Christmas cards for the ones who exchange them here in the building. I really am a procrastinator these days.

AMY  my daugh ter did email me that  he slept good  Tuesday night.WE all know we do not sleep good in a hospital. Nothing like sleeping in our own beds. I think we are having pork, my DIL likes rhe crown roast and she is a good cook,so are my 2 sons and daughter. I used to cook and bake a lot but no more, what I did a few nights ago proved it to me. Have to leave it to Yvette now.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

      MERRY CHRISTMAS

I can't seem to get my motor started this morning!  Maybe I ran out of gas yesterday and didn't notice it! I'll have to check that out.

I do have to get started.  If there's no gas, I'll have to walk.  I wish you all a good day.  We are already experiencing the rain storms that were predicted for today.  They have also put out flood warnings.  The rain and warmer weather is going to melt a lot of the snow and the rivers and creeks will be rising.  They are also predicting high winds and the power company has already prepared for outages.  So our Christmas dinner could turn out to be sandwiches in the candlelight.

I'm off to finish the cleaning and start the cooking!  Enjoy your holiday whatever it brings!  God be with you ALL!
