When somebody annoys you, recognize that you feel annoyed because they didn't do something the way you wanted it done. They may have their own reason for doing something their way, which you should not disregard and try to replace with your own.

"Save Your Kisses For Me"

Though it hurts to go away, it's impossible to stay
But there's one thing I must say before I go
I love you (I love you), you know
I'll be thinking of you in most everything I do
Now the time is moving on and I really should be gone
But you keep me hanging on for one more smile
I love you (I love you), all the while
With your cute little way will you promise that you'll save

Your kisses for me, save all your kisses for me
Bye, bye, baby, bye, bye
Don't cry, honey, don't cry
Gonna walk out the door
But I'll soon be back for more
Kisses for me, save all your kisses for me
So long, honey, so long
Hang on, baby, hang on
Don't you dare me to stay
'Cause you know I'll have to say

That I've got to work each day and that's why I go away
But I count the seconds 'til I'm home with you
I love you (I love you), it's true
You're so cute, honey gee, won't you save them up for me

Your kisses for me, save all your kisses for me
Bye, bye, baby, bye, bye
Don't cry, honey, don't cry
Gonna walk out the door
But I'll soon be back for more
Kisses for me, save all your kisses for me
So long, honey, so long
Hang on, baby, hang on
Don't you dare me to stay
'Cause you know you've got to save
Your kisses for me, save all your kisses for me
Bye, bye, baby, bye, bye
Don't cry, honey, don't cry
Won't you save them for me even though you're only three

I am OK, Amy.  Thanks for thinking about me. I have been busy with changing health insurance, doctors appointments and other household  things.

Robins came through here, too.  They stayed a couple of days and then moved on.  I think we will have an early and hot summer.

Bubble, thanks for using a couple of my graphics.  It is  fun to see them again and remember how much I enjoyed making them years ago.

It is wet and cold here but nice and warm in the house.

BTW,  rabbit...rabbit...rabbit!

Take care,  All.

Hello Everyfriend!

Our baby is happy and healthy!  SHIRLEY, this is my second boy Great and I have one Girl Great...Emma will be 5 this Spring, Mikey was 2 in November and this one is Camden James...I think to be called CJ.  Not sure of that yet.  I sent pictures to BUBBLE to post for me and I also sent a set to AMY.

I used up the home-made sauer kraut that Christy made and shared with me!  It's delicious!  I have enough for my dinner tomorrow.  Also making a trip to the Amish grocery store tomorrow!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one

Unfortunately, the haystack couldn't hold me this morning!  I woke up at 5:20 and I just couldn't go back to sleep so I got up at 5:35 and here I am.  I've had my breakfast, put a load of laundry in the washer and looked up a couple of things on line.  I also checked my email!

I have to go back and send a birthday card to my DIL.  We have numerous birthdays in February!  It's hard to keep up with all of them.

Now I'm going to go put the laundry in the dryer and get dressed.  I'm thinking Cathy will be heading for the Amish grocery store around 10:30 or so.  She's not an early one.  But Cooper will be arriving around 7:15 and he'll need his breakfast and a walk so I better be ready for that.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning..
We are at 14° this morning and getting ready for a  deep freeze come this week end . Weather folks say - 39° ,good time to stay indoors.

Working around home  and sewing after taking Kyle to the lumber store. I need ink for my printer but they don't open until ten so another day for that.

Jane, the photos are priceless!! You just want to hug and snuggle that bundle of joy.

Patricia, too much snow here for the groundhog to peek out never mind looking for his shadow.

Phyllis good to see you and that things are ok.

I see Callie is out playing in the snow!

Lloyd, where are you???

Rick, what did you think of Oak Island?

Better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I have question/(Doubt) about the story, - but. My son and I watch it each week. Other than treasure, I find the things they find. interesting. To review my thoughts on the whole thing would be more than I could type. All these things being done so far back in time ? ? ? ? ?. Better stop before I back myself into a corner  ::)

My son and I watch it each week

I do also, but I do wish they would find more than an ox shoe at times!! I keep saying as do my friends, that's it ,no more but each week we are drawn to it just incase!!  What got me was the carbon dating of the wood!! All in all I do find it intersting even if slow at times. When I watched Beyond Oak Island they came up with a coin plus a part off a gun! I will keep watching...but I have my doubts they will find the "big haul"

"but I have my doubts they will find the "big haul""  -  Also my feeling. But much of the other stuff is of interest. How did things get so far under ground with no signs of people being there? Doing that today would be a big undertaking - even with all our modern equipment.

AMY, that's very interesting!  Shall we all pack up and go treasure hunting?  I'll think about it while I sleep tonight.  My eyes are entering "clunk shut" mode and I have to be up in time to meet Cooper at 6:45.  I'm pretty sure he's my HOME treasure right now.  My other treasures are in OkLAHOMA!

SHIRLEY, I forgot...I also have a Mexican Great Grandson.  My grandson married his mom and he already calls me GG!  So... 3 boys and one girls greats!

I'm heading for the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning...

Today is a 3 F day...freezing february Friday!! Temp is -24° F , guess that makes it a 4 F day!

Good day to stay in and hug the fire and work around home. I have a quilt layed out and just need to sew the blocks together and then it is off to fine a new home.

We did get some snow last night and I hope it wasn't much and doesn't need to be addressed. Wind was high and the news was warning to look out for white outs.

Enjoy your day  and stay safe.

Good morning. Our big mean much bally hooed winter storm dropped a big 0.4 inch on us yesterday and with no snow forecast for today. It is both above normal temperatures for February and below for snow accumulation.

Today I'm going out to pick up a few items I put off and pay a few bills and then back home as soon as I can. Today is both a military payday and a payday for those receiving services so everything will have a wait and a line.

I'm waiting to put away groceries as soon as David gets back from picking them up.  And that is my major chore-to-do today.

For JaneS:  I have noticed over the last several days that a lot of return mailing addresses are from CAMP HILL, PA.  Wondering if Camp Hill is anywhere near you, or if, like some of these establishments, they are just large Postal addresses, like a mail clearing house?  Or is it a big city?

Temp is -28°F , not fit for man nor beast to be out in. Full moon tonight but better off looking at it from the inside. Birds stayed cuddled up in the cedar trees, not one came to dine on the seed buffet.

Stay warm and stay safe..

Camp Hill is across the Susquehanna River from our state capital of Harrisburg and is a rather large, sprawling suburb-type city.  My sister lives in the town next to it and I've been there about a "million" times in the years since she lived there.  They have lots of good shopping, restaurants and other things to do!

It's been very cold here today...13º with a "feels like" of minus2.  Not a day for enjoying the outdoors. It feels like you could easily blow into the next county!  I wasn't outside much today.  I didn't have a doggie so no reason to freeze my body to the ground.

I'm off to the haystack a bit early tonight!  Cooper will be here early tomorrow and I have a lot of "stuff" to do tomorrow.  Good night!  Sleep tight! Don't let the bedbugs bite!

Congratulations Great Grandma Jane, on the birth of your darling little Camden James.  Loved seeing his picture......such a darling little bundle of joy😍😍

Sorry for all who are dealing with these awful low temperatures 🥶
We still have snow on the ground from our end of December snow storm.  This is the longest amount of time I have ever seen snow drifts stick around this long in Colorado.  We continue to have snow every couple of days and with the cold the grass is still completely covered.  We have a big snow drift in the middle of our cul de sac but it started to melt some today for the first time.

PATRICIA, I am sorry to read about your friends, Alan and  Dora.  I do hope they both will do well in the care home together.  I also thought Farrah was taking a real shower with you and I was impressed 🤣🤣 I would like to give my boy Smokey a bath but I must admit I can not get up the courage to even try to do this🤪

SHIRLEY, you are doing a great job of getting your belongings in order.  I am sure this can't be easy, but I am proud of you for getting this done.  I hope you have a nice long time to take it easy and enjoy some precious time with your family🥰🥰

CALLIE, your post was full of great family details.  Happy for all of you.  Looking forward to the wedding festivities is always exciting for all🥰

AMY, as always you seem to be keeping much too busy.....dancing .....cooking.....taking care of your family.  I am relieved to read that it is only lipoma that your Babe has....not the fearful cancer‼️. I feel bad for your friend.... pleurisy Is no fun‼️

We are packing and finishing up the last few details  before we leave for our cruise.  We fly on Tuesday for San Francisco to see our family for a couple of days before we get on the ship to sail🥰🥰 SO EXCITED....

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Good morning...

Our temp has gone up from the time Kyle looked and now. When he looked it was -40° but now it is -38° whoopie! Tomorrow it is to wamr up and that can't happen soon enough for me. We did get wind the other night causing drifting and I left it right there but IF warmer tomorrow I will move it. One can't help but to admiree the difts and the sharp edges and curves in the snow caused by the wind..

Laundry day and sewing today..not sure what else but what comes along may get done.

Jenny have fun on your trip..

Jane, bundle up warm when you go out with Cooper!! I am sure he will make it a quick trip.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Hello Eveyfriend!  It's been a busy day but I don't know what I did all day.  Cooper and I had 3 walks...the first one was a quickie because it was about 12 out there and we were both freezing!  The second one was a bit better. The temp. got up to about 18 but the wind was gone so it really didn't feel that bad.  We did both circles and then some.  And then we did another just as it started to get dark.

I made new casserole for supper and it's a keeper! It's called Southwestern Casserole and it has hamburber, tomatoes, macaroni, lots of different spices, some onions and garlic and I forget what kind of beans it called for but I didn't have them so I used pinto beans.  It was topped with cheese and peppers.  I liked it enough to have 2 helpings for supper.

AMY, you just continue to enjoy the looks of the snow but be sure to keep it on your side of the border!  I've had enough to last me for the rest of the winter.  And according to Groundhog, Punxatawney Phil, we're in for 6 more weeks of winter!  Not my best thought!  Of course, he's only right 40% of the time so maybe this will be one of his incorrect predictions!

I'm heading for the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!

Good morning.
Starting off above zero this morning +10°F good start  and hope it climbs . Now come summer we will be complaining of the blistering heat.

Need to clean up some snow this morning  ,then try and finish up a quilt top.

Jane, are you going to post your new recipe in Whats for dinner? I am also looking for no more snow but...we both know no matter how hard we wish we will still get snow. March is an unpredictable from the get go.

Patrica, any new snow ? We were even colder than you in Alaska!!

Better get ready

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone is having snow but us, even Hawaii had snow! When Israel and Hawaii have snow, and we don't...well. It's minus 14, clear, and still icy out there. Even the weather forecasters are conflicted; one says minus 14, another minus 17, yet another minus 12.

Everyone agrees, however that we're in line for another big snowstorm when so far we've had only 0.5 inches of snow all winter. The first one says beginning 2 am Monday and end at midnight Monday. Another says beginning at 3 am Tuesday and ending at 7 am Tuesday. Either or both promises 0.2 inches of snow. I cannot show you a photo because my balcony door is frozen. People are navigating very careful out there.

I saw it in a comic," February is different, it's a short month... only 28 days, but they're all Mondays."

Patricia, I think we got your load of snow here!!

Snow has been cleaned up for now. I noticed some birds singing and the Jays were at the seed. Crow flew over not  stopping to fill up. The cold weather is hard on everything ,humans ,animals ,vehicles and machinery.

Amy, your parents didn't teach you to share?

We aren't particularly cold here. At least it's not here. I'm still wearing jackets and not my parka, but navigating that ice is tricky for people and vehicles

Frigid weather here means engine block plugin heaters are installed in parking lots and in your car.

Since they cut down all the trees on our side of the building, we no longer see any birds unless they're high in the sky.

Patricia, they did , that is why it is on its way to you!! Post marked Return to sender!!

I noticed when we had the 35 below weather not a creature was stiring..not even Red, the red squirrel. Seed was not ate and no birds flying over in that cold weather. We have lots of trees about and I am sure the creatures were all snuggled in where it is warm.

While I was sitting here watching my church service this morning, my computer when "off line".  Everything just stopped and nothing I did brought it back on.  When Cathy came over this afternoon, she sat at the computer about 30 seconds and got it started again.  I worked on it a good half hour and got nothing!  I was tempted to pack this thing up and toss it in the river!

PATRICIA and AMY, you may keep the snow in your areas.  I'm finished with it for this winter!

The temperature did come up this afternoon and Cooper and I had a very pleasant walk right after he ate his supper!  Lots of neighbors were outside doing this and that.  That hasn't been happening in the icy cold!  Nice to see it now.  I'm ready for SPRING!

I'm also ready for bed!  It's been one of those days!  Or maybe I'm just getting oldGood night and God bless us all!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem....well, I'm up!  The temperature out has already reached 35º and is heading for a high of 48 for theday!  I can handle that.

Frankie doesn't go in to work today until 11 so I I won't see Cooper until a little before that!  I guess I better start shaping up my office.  There are some papers I need to find today and I have no idea where I stashed them.  I'm an awful file clerk.  I never did like filing!

I guess I better get started.  I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

We got a lot accomplished today as well, Jane.  Cooler tomorrow but pretty nice for the next week except I think Wed. night. The birds are acting "frisky".... Who was it, what show did someone say that when the hanky-panky was in the air?

Jenny, safe and fun vacation. Smooth sailing.

Amy, you do amaze me with all you get done! Did I ask you if you take all the dirt out of the trug every year?  Something chewed off the liner to the level of dirt. I only got a few bags of lettuce the whole summer and not a single tomato to eat.  Shared my lettuce, endive & spinash with son & his wife and one neighbor. I do love a wilted salad like my grandmother made. Mouth watering....I have not been out to check but the surprise lilies may be out of the ground IF they made it through the fall drought. My sprinkler system didn't work in that area so had a big Cleveland pear tree cut down that roots got into the control box. It was planted too near all the power/phone/etc. lines so had to go. I do have a couple packages of seed I bought last fall in hopes of an early planting. Afraid we will lose a lot of shrubs this year with a freeze back. Always have to wait & see.

Patricia, so sad they cut the trees down, I can't imagine not being able to watch them come & go. We have a different little black & white bird that flits so fast I can't get a photo of to check my bird books, at least 2 of them. Not our regular snowbirds & chickadees.

Oops, you slipped in, Lloyd! I still have my car but put the title with my daughter's name on as well. I haven't driven for a couple weeks because my legs are so full of fluid the knees hardly bend. You have had super service from the VA. I  have Medicare and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas. It covers every penny of my health care but very expensive. It sure doesn't offer all the extra toys you get from the VA. Sorry you got a witch today, they show up now & then. I do not have the medicine part since I don't take meds.

Hey, Bubble, did it really snow in Israel? We only had that "dusting" one time so do need moisture.

Haha, Rick, you sound like my youngest son, have a solution for any problem that usually consists of waiting until tomorrow! I check in every day but busy with all those phone calls to figure how to die. Somebody needs to write a book of where to find all the info in language plain & simple! So far no pain & still in control.

Heading to bed, sweet dreams and God Bless.  Love y'all.  Tisie/Shirley  :rosegal:

Good morning..

Starting off at 10°F and in some areas to the south of us they are calling for rain...that means we get snow. Oh well one day closer to Spring.

Yesterday was a long busy but fun day. While Kyle was getting his hearing checked Bri and I sat in the vehicle and gabbed. Then off to have lunch only to find the restaurant was closed on Mon :(  So off to Swiss Chalet it was to have chicken.

Today is work around home and  vacuum seal some meat we bought yesterday. One prime rib steak will not see the inside of the freezer though.

Lloyd, there does come a time to let others do the driving. My friend is 83 and doesn't care if she does drive anymore. Driving used to be enjoyable but now people are too busy on phones, talking or texting and riving like a bat out of you know where!!

Jane, I just thought Patricia would like more snow......she didn't get a lot there and as you know we have more than enough to share.

Patricia, post marked return to send  = I don't pay postage .. :2funny:

Rick...now what do you want.......move or fast...take one or the other, as they don't partner well with me.  ;D I do agree with the theory and if anyone wants to do it ,please do.

Shirley, no I don't take the soil out. Whoever coined the phrase dirt cheap obviously  didn't buy dirt!! I do mix in manure, not too much or you will burn the plants. Now I have to ask what is wilted salad?  You will still have liner below the dirt so you will be fine. One of my covers layed down with the weight of the snow but it is an easy fix...so I am told by my husband.

I had better try a meet the day...going to the city always tuckers me out.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept pretty well last night with a couple trips next door and then right back to sleep.  I feel like I might be up and attem.  I've done two jobs already this morning and my next one is to get a shower and get ready to go!

Cathy has a lawyer in the married in side of her family and she made us an appointment to check out what I have to do before I toss in the towel.  I don't know what's going to happen.  I asked her if there was anything I needed to take with me and she said, "If you have any questions, bring them".  I don't even know what questions to ask!  I guess I'll just play it by ear and I hope he talks loud enough!

I'm off to the showers.  Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Amy, --- My mind is drawing a blank. For whatever reason I have no idea what this is about. But moving on to running like a deer and jumping like a kangaroo, - yes I remember those days ---- but long gone and only a vague memory. Now it mostly turtle moves.

Good morning, zero degrees this morning and a possibility of that elusive snow. We're forecast a snowstorm at seven am this morning. At 6:51 am, clear skies and no sign of any snow.

The next snowstorm forecast is for Wednesday morning, yet otherwise, Wednesday's forecast is for clear and sunny. Someone somewhere hasn't got a clue. You don't have to worry about paying postage Amy, that package has gone astray!

I went out with friends yesterday and came home with two small plants. We wandered around the stores looking for a gift for one's newest great-grandson born February first. I believe the proud great-grandmother bought out most of the store. She would have gone further but we all pled fatigue! I took a nap when I got home!

We knew something was amiss when the traffic was louder than normal, birds dashed in to eat and disappeared quick. Blue jays, chickadees and two doves got their fill before the rain/freezing rain pounded on them!

Went next door and gave Rex his pedicure :smitten:  now all three dogs are set for another two weeks.

LOL Patricia, when I was at the neighbours he even said he didn't want to see anymore snow.  I am listening to the sound of the freezing rain hit the window and side of the house. I hear you on the fatigue, trouble is some stores are so big now you need to take a lunch with you to see all that is in them.

A college friend got frustrated with my trying to keep up with her and told me I even hurried slow!!!!!

After several "productive" days, I'm not even trying today.  It's cold, wet and gloomy - and I didn't wake up until 9:00 a.m.

I saw Cathy taking notes at the meeting with her lawyer relative so I hope she's going to write it up and give me a copy.  I've been going through papers and I've found more recipes than anything else.  I'd have to live to be 140 and make one recipe a day to use up all the recipes I've collected!  Maybe even longer!

PATRICIA, keep watching!  That snow will come along when you least expect it....and when you want it least!

I'm going to just sit around and MAYBE go through some more papers tonight.  You note, I said MAYBE!  If it wasn't for paper, my house would be pretty neat!  Bye for now!

Well, the forecasters' plan for snow today went awry. Jane, we'll see what happens Wednesday. It's not the snow so much as it's something to cover the ice and provide traction! The city crews have been working on the roads, perhaps that will help.

Amy, the baby departments of various stores are full of what every "parent must have" and at prices, most parents don't have, and none of it was familiar to us. That little guy will have everything with his parents, two sets of grandparents, two sets of great-grandparents, plus siblings, and various other shirttail relatives and friends.

When I was a child, most of my friends were lucky to have grandparents let alone great grandparents that were still mobile!

Callie, I have always loved how you can turn a phrase and yes that one will be borrowed too!

There seems to be more rain/freezing rain to come tomorrow. I noticed the dogs slipping when I let them out, so will sand a walking area for them.

Working around home and sewing today.....works for me.

Patricia, how are Dora and Allan doing?

Shirley, I keep the peelings from the kitchen and will also dig that into the soil come Spring.

Jane,  hope you got to put your feet up and rest .Doing paper work can be as tiring as physical work.

Good late morning, I've started several chores early this morning so I'm late getting here. The forecasters said that elusive snow would start overnight and end about noon. It's plus one and we do have snow. Snow that dances and floats lazily about in large flakes. The sidewalks that were cleared three days ago, remain cleared so no real accumulation.

Amy, they're both on oxygen and bedridden. They can't have visitors other than their son and he reports they're depressed and worried about costs, their animals, and selling a place they've lived since the early sixties. Their son says they have trouble communicating, so he gave the admin a certified copy of their living will which states he and his sister are co-powers of attorney in case of need. It's not a good time.

I've been sifting and sorting papers that have accumulated in my office, In the living room and all over the house.  I still have a long way to go!  I really do dislike paper work but it sure is nice to see empty spaces.  Tomorrow I'm working on recipes that I've printed off the computer over the years.  I hope they will be organized so it doesn't take me half a day to find the one I want to use.  I know I have some doubles and by tomorrow night, that should not be an issue.

Cooper and I took two LOOOOOONG walks today and it felt good!  The temps got up into the low 50s today and it was a gorgeous day!  We both loved being outside in that beautiful weather.  He'll be here tomorrow and it's supposed to be a bit rainy and cloudy all day tomorrow.  We'll have to watch the weather and take our walks when the rain stops!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I'm not bone weary but I am brain weary!  I really don't like paper work.  And Cathy and I did a trip to WM.  I got a haircut, some new glasses, a cushion for the dining chair where I do a lot of reading and paper work, and stocked up on milk and coffee cream and some odds and ends.  I also bought some notebooks for the recipes that I plan to organize tomorrow.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Not going to be nice today, rain and freezing rain is to visit. I picked up extras at the grocery store so we are fine.

Not a lot going on here work around home then sew.

Patricia, that is sad, both of then worked so hard to get their place up and going and now can't go home.If houses are selling as fast as they are here it won't take long for the son to sell it. Hopefully others will take or buy the animals.

I wrote this earlier and forgot to post it.  It just hung around waiting so new or old news, here it is.....Good Morning to those who have already checked in and to those who will check in later.  I was by earlier but since I was the last poster, I chose not to talk to myself.  I do enough of that around the house.

Cooper came over and we had our first walk and when I finish here, we'll have our second one and bring in the mail when we come.

I made a head of cauliflower over a new recipe and it was delicious.  I ate the whole head for my lunch.  Now I must say, it was a small head and it shrunk a bit while baking!!  I'm feeling very comfortable...not overfed!

I'm going through all the recipes I have copied and trying to get some sort of order out of them.  I don't think there is an order!

We're having another nice day here.  The sun is shining and the temp is up to 47º heading for a high of 55º!  I'll take it!

LLOYD, I'm so glad you're finally feeling better!

I have made arrangements with my OKLA daughter to be picked up and transported to her part of the country in the middle of April.  I'm gonna get to hold the new baby!!!!

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

Time to call it a night, if we get the snow that is predicted there will be a dance tomorrow.

If David went from Picture Rocks to Bradford (or Bradford to Picture Rocks) He went through Williamsport which is about 20 miles from where I live.  I thought I heard someone whistle and saw someone wave!

I got a lot of sorting done and and took out a rice pudding recipe that could be made in the crock pot and put it to cooking.  I had a dish of it with my supper and it's pretty good.  I'll be eating it for a while and maybe freezing a bit of it for later.  Tomorrow I'll still be sorting recipes and I'm going to cook some salmon   (Honey-garlic Glazed Salmon) for my supper.  It sounds pretty good and I'll have a baked potato with it!

Now I'm going to finish up some chores and then hit the haystack.  Cooper will be arriving a little before 8 tomorrow and we'll get our walks in and some love time!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

We are getting a mixture of snow and rain...not a lot but enough to make it messy out there.

Chores around home will do the hours away and maybe sew. Bread and chelsea buns were made yesterday ,so no sew. :(

Jane, your supper for tonight sounds delicous!!

Checking in & heading to bed. We've been going thru the stuff from the motorhome, dividing what goes camping with the boys & what stays here in the house. The 3 kids have given me so much stuff plus the extras I thought I had to have...  :o  ::)   ... lots to dig thru.

Kinda bitter windy day here but mostly sun out. To warm up a bit tomorrow. Daughter went to the store-s (several) today & was shocked at the mass of people out. Everyone is ready to sit down & cheer the teams on tomorrow.

And that, boys & girls, has been MY day!  Sweet dreams & God Bless, love y'all.  Shirley/Tisie

Good morning..

Starting out at +2  and I sure hope the sun warms the day up! Yesterday  we took off ,leaving all the work behind to visit the kids. Roads were wet but good and little traffic. Enjoyed our visit with them and furkids..even got a hug from Luna the Great Dane x Great Pyrenees. Now if one could say a dog is a great hugger....she is!!She hangs on, moves back a bit looks you in the ete ,then goes nose to nose and comes in for the hug!

I need to do a few things but other than that it is a day of rest here.

Jane, David found Crookneck squash seeds and I now have some to plant. This is a summer squash which is good on its own or fried up with onion, celery, tomatoes and you can add meat if you wish. I like it without the meat and in a bowl with a piece of bread to mop up the juice.

We need to hear from Lloyd,,,he is missing.

Time to get a move on.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Up and "slugging" along. Overcast and still not very bright out, but not snow or rain - good. Have to get anything that needs to be done, done - before game time.
Have a good day all.

AMY, it was crookneck squash seeds I sent you a while back.  This is the pumpkin that makes the best pumpkin pie.  I learned that from my DADDY.  I always can some when it's out and fresh in the Farmers' Market.

I'm back from church, changed my clothes and I'm going to have lunch and read the paper and then I'm going for a walk.  No Cooper...just me and my shadow!

Hello, again RICK.  Hope you have a good day!

Good morning from the Interior; all I can say about our weather is it's the same, either plus or minus six, and an increasingly remote chance of snow to provide traction on these icy roads. We can only keep pressing on, hoping for April and May and warmer weather.

Jane, your crookneck squash is a winter squash and very good! This is a summer one and is also tasty. You pick these when small and you can hang them on your fingers as you pick.

Oh yes, AMY, I know those squash, too.  We just call them "summer squash" around here.  They're very good!

I'm off to the haystack.  I have to be ready to leave for my Dr. appt. by 7:45 a.m. tomorrow.  That's gonna take some doing!  I'll have to be up and attem by 6 a.m. if I want to get a shower (i do) and have some breakfast (I do) and get the bed made and the dishes done (Do I?)

Have a good night. And, as my Gramma used to say to us, "Sleep tight and don't let the bedbugs bite"!  When I was little, I didn't really know what that meant and one time I said to her "there aren't any bugs in my bed to bite me".  She answered, "That's good! Sleep tight!"

Good morning..
Brrr chilly again this morning. Yesterday was such a lovely day I think we got spoiled.
Today , off to the dentist then scoot back home, our neighbour has an appointment in the city and won't be back in time for Rex's pill. We are only an hour away with my appointment so may grab lunch out and head home.

Noticed crows coming back and dgos are losing their winter hair, could it be Spring is right around the corner?? An early Spring would be nice as long as the snow is slow to get away and not cause flooding.

Jane, I agree with the "very good" I could just eat a bowl of them and be happy. I think I will let one or two grow big and collect the seeds.

Shirley, are you finished with unpacking the camper van?

Better get a move on..

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

The day went well...despite the fog. I have to admit
even though it can make the roads slippery it is also so pretty on the trees!! Pines wearing white lace and maples and  oaks wearing chenille. I am good for another 6 months and the new girl was very good!

Back home I went over gave Rex his pill then outside to brush him! I got enough hair for another dog!!! Callie, bless her heart sits in the window and waits for us to come back in and get her tummy rubs and a treat!
I posted a recipe that is a little late for game night but sounds good. My son shared a photo of the chicken wings he/they did and said he used baking powder to make them crispy. I have heard of using cornstarch but this was new on me.

Putting feet up in a bit and let the night go by.

This has been a very busy day and I'm beat right down to my toenails!  And I still have to do one more walk with Cooper before it gets dark.  Frankie worked today 11:30 t0 8 and that's an unusual day for C. and me!

I made a new egg dish today and that's what I had for supper.  I had to try them.  You mix eggs cooked sausage, onions and flavorings in a bowl and then divide it into my big muffin tins and bake in the oven.  The one I ate was delicious and I'm betting the rest of them will be good too.  The recipe made 9 of them!

After my dr. appt. we stopped at the hardware store and bought bird seed, a small humidifier to run in the bedroom at night and had a couple of house keys made.  Then we hit the grocery store and I got a few things I'm out of.  Then we came home and I dealt with all the stuff I bought and made the egg cups and took a walk and did some putting away and tidying up and now I'm "tard" and ready to sit around.  I'll see you all tomorrow.  Have a peaceful night

AMY, what did you do with the new doggie that came off the old one?

Jane, since Rex is a Golden he has lovely soft blonde fur, if it was Spring I would have left it outside for the birds to line their nest. Instead I put it in a bag and hung it on their door. :))

When we were at David's  he sent us home wih two packages of instant potatoes.. one is loaded baked potato with bacon, sour cream and onions...can't wait to try that one!

Did you post the recipe for your new egg dish?

Good morning...

Happy Valentines day..

I woke to find a huge wooden heart Kyle had made and signed by Kyle Babe and Jesse!! We will have a nice dinner here at home tonight instead of dining out.

We are to see the sun again today ,then the next couple of days we are to get rain.
Kyle has blood work today, then home to chase dust bunnies. Will finish off the baked beans I made yesterday by putting them in a cast iron pot and let slow bake in the cookstove.

Patricia, the Irish setter wool would be soft and rich in colour!! When we had sheep I had (notice had) thought of learning how to weave their wool. I just didn't get around to it with so many other things on my plate.

Time to get going..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Quote from: patricia19 on February 14, 2023, 12:57:20 AMI have friends that have an Irish setter and use his fur left over after grooming in weaving and other sewing projects.

And, it makes lovely knitted sweaters, too, Patricia.  Depending on the kind of dog, it makes fur to be spun for yarn that is as soft as cashmere.   I never tried it on my floor loom or even in knitted sweaters but I have used sheep wool that still has the lanolin in it.  I always loved using it because it made my hands feel so soft and smooth.

Your egg and sausage dish sounds good, Jane.  David is particularly fond of sausage so I know he would like it.

Amy, I use the Idahoan instant potatoes all of the time.  We especially like the ones with cheese or sour cream and chives.  They are all good and saves throwing away potatoes that have sprouted before you can use them.  Also, they are really good to thicken soups.  Just sprinkle them in until the soup is as thick as you like.  I hardly ever buy fresh potatoes any more....I hate having to throw them away because I didn't use them soon enough.  And, since I don't have to peel them it helps my aching hands.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, I agree with you on throwing out sprouted potatoes.  We also don't eat them fast enough and if I do have any fresh potatoes that have sprouted I will plant them if weather is right. For the most part now I can potatoes and now know that the white ones have more starch in them and red have less. My neighbour is now canning potatoes for her hubby that is now diabetic and since you since all the starch(carbs) away she has peace of mind that he is not getting too many carbs. I must admit I was amazed at the amount of starch in the potato...

Thanks for that information, Phyllis. Now I have a question for you. My mother had a floor loom for years that my dad built to her and her mother's specifications. I remember it took up almost all of the sewing room and was on the floor. Is that similar to yours? I have never seen another other than hers and my grandmother's, so I don't know the proper term. It was made of a light white wood, perhaps birch.

I cannot use instant potatoes due to their chemical dehydration process, but I generally have a small amount, no more than four or five at a time for specified use, and if any sprout, I give them to a friend who saves them in a cold house for next year's crop.

Amy, yes, the items she makes from Autumn's hair are lovely!

Patricia, my loom is a Schacht Mighty Wolf floor loom and was made by the Schacht Spindle Co. in Boulder, CO.  It has 8 shafts and weaves cloth up to 36 in. wide.  It is also a light colored wood but is maple.  Looms take a lot of stress when weaving so have to be made of a sturdy wood like your Mother's and mine..  I'm guessing your Mother's loom was a stationery one while mine can be folded to not take up so much space and has wheels so I could move it around if I wanted to.  I did quite a bit of weaving but had to quit when I could no longer get down to dress the loom.  I still have the loom up in my craft room and whenever I go into that room, which isn't often anymore, I feel sad to see it sitting there unused.  I know I should sell it but just can't  bring myself to part with it.  And, unfortunately I don't have anyone in my family to pass it to.  I also have an antique table loom and a belt loom from Schacht.  I used all of them except not very often on the table loom because it is old and fragile. I hope my sons can sell them after I am gone.

Well, it's been "one of those days"!  I couldn't get on line this morning until Cathy came to pick me up to meet my friend.  She fixed the computer but I haven't had time to use it all day.

I went to my good friend's husband's funeral and we stayed for the lunch they provided.  It was a beautiful service and I really liked the minister.  My friend's kids did two musical numbers and they're very good singers.  It was a very nice sendoff and Nancy seemed to be handling it well.  Her family is very close and loving and I'm sure they'll all miss Grant but he's in a better place.

PHYLLIS, I bet I know someone who would love to have your loom and she would make very good use of it.  My daughter in Maryland loves to do new things and she's always trying something different.  I bet if you had a price on it, she'd consider.  In fact, if the price was right, I might buy it for her.  I'd sure as heck think about it.

Now, I'm off to bury myself in the haystack!  It's not been an easy day and I'm really ready to conk out!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Thanks for the information on that loom, Phyllis. My grandmother lived on a ranch just outside Montrose, Colorado, and her purchased loom, sans wheels or breakdown, may have been from that company.

My mom's was large, and until she became ill, she did a lot of weaving and used it for making quilt batting. It was sold like so many things were for medical expenses.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I had one of my egg muffins for breakfast and it reminded me to go over to "What's For Dinner" and post it.  So it's there waiting!

Today is a day off!  Cooper isn't coming because his Mommy is off work today.  Frankie did say that she might stop over for a visit but if she does, it won't be until sometime in the afternoon.  She sleeps in when she's off.  And then she gets involved in "house stuff" and often doesn't make a visit.  So we shall see!

We had some rain overnight but it has stopped.  Right now the temperature is 48º and heading for a high of 66!  I can't believe it!  And I do believe that we'll be hit with some lower temps before February bows out.

I have some house cleaning and some paper arranging (or tossing) to do today.  I don't think I'll ever make it through the papers.  I do really dislike paper work!

AMY, I hope your snow just vanishes overnight some night soon.  And I hope you don't get any more.  And, PHYLLIS, I hope you are pleasantly surprised with some nice weather soon!

I wish Everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

It's been a crazy winter here. Cold at times, windy, but little snow (yet) that I couldn't sweep off the walk with a corn broom. But when I looked out yesterday I saw what is likely crocus noses peeking up from the ground. I like to see their indication of the coming of Spring - but lately the squirrels beat me to enjoying them.

Good morning; it is minus seven at 9 am, and our high today will be plus two. The nearest snowfall is seventy-seven miles away, and we have another snow warning. "Adverse winter weather forecast across parts of northern and southeastern Alaska into at least early Feb. 16. Snowfall accumulations of around 8-28 cm (3-11 inches) are forecast across the affected areas, as well as winds gusting up to 89 kph (55 mph). The heavy snow and accompanying strong winds will likely lead to hazardous driving conditions due to icy roads and reduced visibility from blowing snow."

Another local forecast says, "Today.
Partly cloudy this morning, then becoming cloudy during the afternoon. High 1F. Winds light and variable.

Tonight
Mostly cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy after midnight. Low -14F. Winds light and variable.

Tomorrow
Overcast. High 3F. Winds light and variable."

So who are we to believe?

Now while Anchorage is setting records for its snowfall and accumulation as we did in the 2021-2022's winter, we're going the opposite this year. Our cities couldn't be more different; one has a wet climate and the other dry, with 400 hundred miles and the Alaska Range between us.

Hello to anyone who eyeballs around in here tonight!  Frankie did stop by for a visit today.  Actually, she had a dr. appt. and she dropped off Cooper before she went and then visited when she came back to pick him up.

I made my Cowboy Bean Soup today and I had it for supper...there are 4 pint jars in the fridge for me and one for Frankie to take to work in the morning to have for her lunch.  It was very tasty!

I also got the papers cleaned off of the dining room table today.  Two fat notebooks of recipes and on skinny one.  That's less than half of the recipes I've saved.  Frankie says I'm a "recipe-a-holic" and I agreed that she's right about that!  But I've made a vow not to print any more recipes.  I'll have to live to be about 198 to work my way through all the recipes I've already collected!

And now I'm going to go finish up some odd jobs and get the coffee on for the morning and then see if the haystack will take me in!  Cooper will be arriving about 6:45 a.m. tomorrow morning and he's ready to move when he gets here!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Need to take back and extension cord I bought, and get the right one.  My computer is in the get it fixed shop and I just thought while it is away I would re-arrange my desk better and put the printer on top of the file cabinet.

My bake bread/buns today will see how it goes first with moving things around.

Jane, have fun with Cooper.

Rick ,crocus coming up!! Nice!! First thing that peeks here is the rhubarb and it  under 2 feet of snow....well it was before the rain and we are to get more rain ..so maybe we will see it .

LLOYD, I also loved the music you posted.  Thank you for that.

RICK, I haven't checked to see if there's anything poking it's head out of the ground.  I'll have to be more observent.  We've had 2 days that made it to the high 50s this week and 1 that jumped into the low 60s.  You don't suppose that Spring is really on the way, do you?

I have chicken in the crock pot and I'll have to decide what goes with it later!

I think Cathy will be by a bit later to help with meet a couple of challenges!  She keeps asking me if I got them done and when my answer is "no" I can almost hear her brain working on it from her end!

Better get a load of laundry going!  Have a good day, Everyfriend!

Luckily the OKC area missed both.

Happened again, got a paragraph typed & the whole thing disappeared. Going thru old photos with my oldest son today, talking about who, where, what & why is a struggle cause when the mouth is open the oxygen isn't going into the nose.  :-\

Off to bed, we had maybe half a dozen snow flakes but the wind & temps made it crappy weather. My last two gas bills have been about 5 times EVER before in 30+ years & it has been a mild winter here. Don't want to talk about it...........

Hugs to all, God Bless. Shirley/Tisie

Good Morning, Everyfriend!  I'm up, attem, had my breakfast and I still have to get dressed before Cooper shows his face at about 7:47.  It's gonna be a tight squeeze today.  I have the viewing for my other friend and co-worker to attend this evening.  I've known her for about 50 years and I took her daughter on two of my Girl Scout Trips back in the late 70s and early 80s!  She will be missed by a lot of people!  But she mad it into her 80s busy as a beaver all those years!  If she didn't make it to heaven, nobody has a chance!

Cathy did come over yesterday and she set up my humidifier in the bedroom for me.  She also took her husband's birthday card and gift with him when she went home.

The chicken I cooked in the crock pot yesterday is all divided into tow contairers and shredded for two different recipes. I'll make one of them today and freeze the rest of chick to make the other one next week...maybe!

Now I better go get dressed before Cooper checks in!  He'll probably have to eat and go for a walk right off the bat!  And he lets you know what his needs are in no uncertain terms!

It's already 53º and heading for a high of 58.  But rain showers are predicted for most of the day,  U wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning..

We are sitting at 9° and windy, snow overnight but I don't think  dancing will be needed.
We get to pick up the computer this morning and get it hooked up, hopefully right the first time.
Didn't get the bread done yesterday but will today..I really enjoyed the bacon buns and will do more of them.

Woke to a murder of crows  in the pine trees, I am happy they are back but do wish they would whisper so early in the morning.

Better get on with the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Hello Everyfriend!  This was a very unusual day for me!  Cooper arrived a bit later than usual, had his breakfast and a walk and then went out in the front yard for a bit and then came in to follow me around!

Cathy stopped by for my shopping list and picked up a few things from the store that I needed.  I gathered together the things to make the casserole but then didn't have time to make so that will be for tomorrow.

My second friend's funeral viewing was tonight and I'm so glad I went.  Her daughter who was one of the participants on two of my Girl Scout trips was very happy to see me!  She hugged me 3 times and we shared some memories and wished that life brought us together a bit more often and in happier times.  We agreed that her mother was in a better place and that she probably already has a couple Girl Scout troops started where she is now!

AMY, I loved the "memory" bit that you printed.  It is all so true!

Well, the weather did get into the high 50s today but it brought lots of wind with it and it sure didn't feel like the 50s!  I guess....
Tis the Season"!

I glanced out the window as I headed for a chair to read the paper and there was a (I think) Grackle marching around under the bird feeder.  And tonight, there were 5 finches on and off the feeder for about a half hour!

I'm off to jump into the haystack.  Cooper will be a bit later tomorrow.  Frankie doesn't have to be to work until 10:30.  So if it happens, I can sleep in tomorrow.  However, if the past tells me anything, I'll be up early anyway!  I already have a list for tomorrow.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Nice bright sunny day but cold!! I am still trying to get this computer back to where I like it. Laundry today and baking..cookies are getting scarce so I had bettter fill some cookie jars.

Jane , I am glad you liked that. I remember being at a Scouting conference and at lunch someone must have had their elbows on the table. The whole table shouted out  "This is not a horses stable, get your elbows off the table"  I am sure that person made sure their elbows were by their side after that!.

Better get busy.....

ENjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who appears.  Cooper just arrived and I think I'm ready for a walk if he is.  Now that doesn't make sense!  He'll go for a walk any old time!

I have General Tso's Stew cooking in the crockpot.  It will be ready to eat when I'm ready for lunch and it already smells good.  This is my first time making this one and I'm betting it's a keeper!  It has chicken, broccoli, pickled peppers, tomato juice and lots of spices in it!  I'm going to have a hard time waiting!

I really slept well last night and I actually got up feeling refreshed.

AMY, at Girl Scout camp we used to say....
     Janie, Janie strong and able,
Get you elbows off the table!

And, yes, I had it said to me when I was a camper but I sure did pass it on when I became a counselor...and I even took it home with me and used it on my kid sister!

Now I'm off for a walk!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Lloyd, when we raised rabbits, any vegetation, green stuff, growing under the cage, died quickly.  We would have to move the cages, and it would kill there too.  We had always heard that rabbit droppings were not good fertilizer.

Right now, it's 29º and heading for a high of53.  Not too bad!

Cooper will be arriving around 10:30 and I'm not going to church.  We were able to discard masks 2 weeks ago and we got a notice this week that someone who was in church last week is down with COVID.  They didn't identify who it was so I don't know if I talked with them or not.  And I don't know if I talked with anyone who was close to them.  I've decided not to take a chance today and to just stay home and watch it on line!

Today's going to be a different Sunday for me!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning, Amy. I guess we'll have to leave the polarizing rabbit dung issue to Lloyd's coming experience.

For our daily weather report, I submit a "Special Weather Statement issued February 18 at 2:17PM AKST by NWS Fairbanks

...Stormy Weather Across the Interior Next Week...

A series of strong storms will move across the Bering Sea and impact the Interior of Alaska next week. The storms will bring considerably warmer temperatures and the potential for heavy snow from Bettles south to Tanana, east to Fairbanks and into the Alaska Range. In addition, gusty southwesterly winds will be likely in the Alaska Range.

At this time there is still some uncertainty with the timing and track of these weather systems. The first system is expected to arrive on Tuesday followed by a second one on Wednesday and Thursday.

Stay tuned for further updates."

PATRICIA, I thought you wanted snow to come and cover the ice...or was that AMY?

Whenever I go outside, I hear the chirpiest birdies!  They must be coming back!  I hope the weather doesn't get cold enough to freeze them out!  And I heard more geese flying over and I saw some on the river.

A quick HELLO to EVERYFRIEND from the North Pacific Ocean.

Our cruise has been just wonderful.  All four days on
Hawaii were very  nice except for the weather.  We have not had one nice sunny day on the entire cruise 😩😥 Super Bowl Sunday they did get to show the game on the BIG outside TV but the weather did not cooperate for long and the fans were drenched‼️  There was no place for us to sit as people had covered all the lounge chairs with towels to save them, so we came back to our room and watched it.

The highlight of Honolulu was going to see Pearl Harbor.  It was very nice, but so sad to see and know the history there.😥😩 Both Maui and Kona one had to be tendered off the ship and with the sea being so rough it was a big challenge to get off and back on the ship.
Now we are sailing for Ensenada Mexico.  Four days at sea.  Then one more up the coast and back to San Francisco. The time has passed much too quickly but it sure has been fun.

We have talked to so many people from all over the world.  There are a LOT of Brits aboard, JACKIE, and we have enjoyed chatting with them. One couple were from Dorset.

All of the ships staff wear name tags that show where they are from and it always brings on a nice conversation when they are from a country that we have personally visited.

I have missed you all and hoped that everyone is doing well.

Aloha🦋🦋

Jane, both Amy and I have had issues with ice this winter, but she had so much more snow. They have been promising snow all this month and the latter part of January, and we only received 0.2 inches.

We need snow but not so much snow.

If, and that is a bit IF, we get the latest promised snows with a Chinook, it may make it much worse, especially in areas prone to avalanches, and we may not have the equipment to clear it.

We won't see any summer birds until at least April or May. The only overwintering birds are owls and ravens, combined winter flocks of chickadees, wrens, sparrows, and that sort.

Returning to the rabbits,  we have healthy black glacial dirt, which is why the crops are so substantial such as 26-30 pound cabbages and enormous flowers. Due to that black soil, Alaska is one of the largest exporters of peonies. I'm assuming we have nitrogen, as I'm not an expert.

Rick's answer makes sense to me.

Other than imported pet rabbits, who wouldn't make it in the wild, We have no actual rabbit breeds, only Alaska & Snowshoe Hares.

Surprisingly, an Alaska rabbit, recognized in Europe, originated in Germany, so I have no idea why they gave it that name.

"There are two species of hares in Alaska, the snowshoe hare and the Alaska hare. Snowshoe hares weigh three or four pounds, and the Alaska hare is distinctly larger, at six to 12 pounds. Both are grayish-brown in summer, with white underparts, and turn white in the winter. This winter camouflage is caused by physiological changes triggered by the shortening day length in autumn. That means that these white animals stand out markedly to predators and hunters in years when the snow is late."

Hi Jenny! It sounds as if you're having a wonderful time!

I am REALLY getting tired of Microsoft pulling this vanishing stunt. Had about finished to post & looked at the screen & it was blank!  Will repeat what I can remember about Pearl Harbor, that Sunday morning was cold in central MO & I was kneeling on the furnace grate to read the comics... (just had shoes on it being the metal so hot), radio on in the kitchen & my mother let out a scream when the announcer broke in to tell about the bombing. The world changed for all of us.

My "cruise" to England the first week of Dec. of 1954 was on the SS United States, newest luxury ship afloat but roughest weather. Had to have steel rings around the table (under the tablecloths) to keep dishes from flying off. Cas didn't have rank to "take" me (he went over in Sept) but military couldn't object to my traveling as a tourist & paying my own way. I had a Civil Service job so made as much as women made back in those days & thought I was pretty cool. We came home on a much smaller troup ship with 3 mothers & 4 kids (twins) in my cabin. The husbands traveled in the hold all together but we did get to eat somewhere along the way. Nightmare trip. Sorry the weather wasn't better for you, Jenny.

Patricia, one year at Angel of Shavano campground Cas & I happened to be out early when snow still covered half the campground.  Camera in hand I kept busy & saw a snowshoe rabbit a camp site away so took off running.  Didn't get any super shots but at least one to prove I saw what I saw! Back half of that bunny was still white!

I am heading to bed, do a lot of sleeping and I am good at it!  Sweet dreams & God Bless

Working around home ,I see the wood box is getting low and want to fill that up before more snow comes today .

Jenny, sounds like a wonderful time away even if the weather didn't cooperate.

Better get going.

JENNY, it sounds like you had a fun trip in spite of the weather!  I still have good memories of my trip to Hawaii back in the early 70s.  The memories just seem to hang around.  When someone like you talks about it, my mind just goes along!  It's one of the few places that I'd love to return to!  When our trip was coming to an end, I suggested to my husband that he move our store over there!

AMY, gotta have paths for the doggies to travel around on!

PATRICIA,  one of the places I'd still like to visit is Alaska but I think I'd like to do it in the summer.  And I DON'T think I'd want to live there.

Now I'm off to get myself dressed before Cooper shows up or my daughter, Cathy shows up!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; it's plus nine and snowing with these fat lazy flakes blown about.

Jane, I have to laugh because that's how I feel about the lower 48 states. I've visited or lived in 46 states, but the weather with hurricanes, tornados, massive fires, and humongous floods scares me. Plus, you have nasty critters such as fleas, snakes, skunks, ticks, cockroaches, and stink bugs.

And you have rabies and other scary diseases we also don't have. Our cold winter weather kills most of those, so we only have mosquitos to plague us, and they're experts at it. Even though our summers are brief, we have 24/7 sunlight for those four months. And see the aurora all winter.

Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for February 1 , 2023
Post by: patricia19 on February 20, 2023, 02:52:11 PM
I read this morning that the massive snowstorm to sweep through the Interior and on into Canada bringing high temperatures is part of a massive storm to sweep through Canada and the northern tier states, "A fast-moving clipper storm and its associated frontal boundary will swing through parts of the northern Rockies into the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes region from Monday into Tuesday. As this feature traverses across the northern tier of the Western and Central states, it will begin to pull chilly, Arctic air southward into the United States from Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Nature will start to give the West hints of what is to come, lowering temperatures by a few degrees on Tuesday across parts of Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana.

Another storm will follow closely behind the clipper storm, arriving in full force Tuesday in the Northwest. All eyes will be on this segment as it is expected to track southward and deepen as it brings cooler air, snow and gusty winds and as far south as the Four Corners.

Disruptive high winds could develop across locations such as Marias Pass, Livingston, Montana, southeastern Wyoming and portions of the Front Range, where winds can gust as high as 80 mph, according to AccuWeather Meteorologist Brandon Buckingham.

By Tuesday night and Wednesday, the strongest winds will shift southward, impacting many of the high deserts and mountainous regions of New Mexico, Arizona and Southern California. Gusty winds will even extend all the way to the coast, impacting the San Diego metro area with gusts as high as 50 mph.

Forecasters warn that strong winds across these areas on Monday and Tuesday can lead to travel slowdowns along area roadways and interstates, such as interstates 25, 70, and 80 in Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. The strongest winds are likely to occur in portions of New Mexico and Arizona, where AccuWeather Local StormMax™ gusts near 100 mph are possible.

As the storm plunges southward into parts of the Southwest late Tuesday into Wednesday, a dramatic temperature shift will occur from Montana to Utah and Colorado as brisk air is pulled from Canada.

Enough rain may fall at lower elevations in coastal Southern California from Thursday to Friday evening to make for slick roads as well as create incidents of flash flooding and debris flows. A general 1-4 inches of rain is likely with locally higher amounts over the lower south- and west-facing mountainsides.

Residents within the zone of the storm's impacts this week could face a variety of hazards ranging from blowing snow, wind-driven rain, difficult travel and road closures. Gusty winds could also raise the risk of vehicle blowovers, particularly with high-profile vehicles.

As this feature gradually tracks east of the Rocky Mountains from mid-to late week, it will continue to spread a swath of snow and the threat for ice from the Great Lakes to areas of the Northeast.

And Hawaii will have its second rare snow fall.

For Amy, "A "significant winter storm" is set to hit southern Ontario later this week and, depending on where you live, you could see mainly freezing rain, ice pellets, or snow, Global News meteorologist Anthony Farnell says.

Farnell said the system will start to impact the region late Wednesday into Thursday.

"There is still some uncertainty to the exact track of the storm and a slight shift north or south will greatly impact ice and snow amounts," he said.

"The worst of the weather will be overnight Wednesday when a combination of ice pellets and snow will slam the GTA."

Farnell said most of the freezing rain will stay to the south, hitting areas from Windsor to the southern Niagara Region and areas bordering Lake Erie.

He said ice buildup in those areas could be enough to bring down trees and power lines, possibly causing "major" power outages.

"From London to Toronto and Kingston, a mixture of snow and ice pellets will make for very difficult travel into Thursday morning's commute. Combined ice and snow amounts could reach 15 cm or more," Farnell said.

North of Toronto, and into eastern Ontario, the system will bring mainly snow with 15 to 25 cm expected.

Later on Thursday and into Friday, another system will bring more snow to central Ontario and bring in "much colder" air to the region, Farnell said."

In essence, this storm, courtesy of Siberia, if true, will sweep most of North America.

I just said to Kyle, the only birds here today were the crows..no Jays or Chickadees about. Guess it has been a while since I have danced with Mr SB.  but don't mind if he sits in the garage. :)

Amy, what I find annoying is the common perception that the US is composed of only the lower forty-eight states. You must look around for Alaska and Hawaii's news or weather; it's extra.

Then while we see western Canada's climate on our Alaskan news, we don't see anything from mid or eastern Canada. It's very shortsighted of them. How is it in your part of Canada?

I don't mind some snow; it's the chance of a massive snow dump along with rapidly rising temperatures in an area that's both flat and steep with parts long frozen.

All of our birds left yesterday...hmmm.

Hello there, Everyfriend!  I'm pretty sure the birdies are smarter than we are about the weather.  I've been filling the bird feeder every day for the past 2 weeks but today, they didn't even come around.  There was a lot of chirping out there but no feasting!

Cooper and I had our two long walks today and he met up face-to-face with 3 of his doggie friends, one of his kitty friends and about 20 of his people friends.  And he made one new friend!

I made a casserole today.  I'm calling it a COtF casserole.  That's "clean Out The Fridge".  I'll probably never be able to make it again but it turned out pretty good!  I had a big chunk of it for supper and there will be more for tomorrow.  It has some cooked hamburger, some cooked chicken, chopped broccoli, a mixture of canned Cream of Mushroom soup, Campbell's Baked Beans, a ton of spices.  Then I put tater tots on top and cheese on top of that!  I think that might be all that's in it and my fridge looks all fresh and clean!

I think tomorrow, Cathy and I are going to hit Wal-Mart and fill in some holes in my supply areas!

We're supposed to get rain off and on for the next 3 days but no snow is predicted.  I hope they're right.  If it only rains, that means it's not wintry cold out there!

I think I'll give in to my eyes and go lie down in bed and let them shut.  They've entered clunk closed mode and I'm tired of fighting them!  I wish you all a pleasant night's sleep and a happy tomorrow, and may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  This is going to be a shortie because I just heard the coffee pot blurt out it's last bubbling sound to say "I'm ready for drinking" and I must admit, I'm ready TO drink.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

P.S.  The rains have started.  We had it all night!  It stopped for now but is scheduled to start again late morning!

Good morning...
Busy morning here, banking, picking up extra milk ,a phone card , checking out wood stain and making an appointment to see what is causing the rattle is  in the vehicle.

Patricia, our news station that we watch is now geared to the big city..not interested in that. We did get good local information on news and weather  then bigger stations come in buy up and ruin it as far as I am concerned.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

All is going pretty well here.  It is household laundry day and that has been started.  Also, it is clean out the fridge and bag up the trash and garbage for town pick-up tomorrow early.  I need to get started on my taxes but I am successfully ignoring that.  The weather is sunny and warm.  The temp. is forcast to go up to 85 deg. on Thursday.  Some of the ornamental trees, shrubs, and early flowers are already in bloom.  About a week to two weeks earlier than normal.  I think it is going to be a very hot summer.

Take care, All.

Good morning..
We did get some snow yesterday  and into the evening but the real nasty weather is to come today and into Thur.  Will pick up Kyles meds today and then home to work.

Phyllis, at one time in my life I loved hot weather but not any more. Working out in it farming didn't bother me but now working weather is in the 70's.

Tome, 87° is fry weather to me......but then again we get either freeze or fry weather here. Hope your muscles behave this morning and no pain to contend with.

Jane, do you get Cooper today?

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning; I'm getting a late start to the computer; it's 9:24 and plus six presently. We did receive three inches, but as with Amy, the bigger storm is due this afternoon through Friday. I'm another one who had been used to and welcomed hot summers, but so many recently have been cooler and rainy.

I envy those beginning gardening preparation and seeing 85 degrees this week. I am so sick of winter!

I have no real reason to complain other than all that ice. Our temperatures have been unusually moderate, and most calamities seen in the past two years haven't this year. I may change my tune after this prophesied storm.

I did go out and buy some new houseplants earlier this month, and they're showing new growth. Besides that, it's simply daily chores and early morning catchup locally.

Good Afternoon, Evening and Night!  It's been a "do it" day all day.  Seems like every time I thought about sitting down and doing nothing, something else popped up it's head!  Cooper had two walks today...one in the snow and one in the sleet!  We have white on the ground, grass and bushes but the roads are clear!

My friend who usually picks me up for our "once-a-month" lunch, called me after I had my coat on and was waiting for her.  And since the snow was already coming down pretty hard, I thought she was probably cancelling but she was just apologizing for being a bit late!  Even the restaurant had called her to see if she was going to cancel.  It snowed the whole time we were in the restaurant and stopped about 10 minutes before we left.  Then it started to sleet about the time we all made it home!

RICK, I have a brand new friend in Oklahoma who is only about 3 weeks old.  Sometimes we get them pretty young!

I was up this morning at 5:30 to get myself ready for the Dr. appt. this morning.  And my eyes have now entered the "clunk shut" stage and I'm off for the haystack!  Cooper is spending the night with me and I think he has already hit the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Jane, happy to read you had a good time with your friend and got home before the weather became really nasty!

Patricia, we did get snow..not sure just how much  but more is on the way today. I will dance this morning then if we do get more it won't be as much to snowblow.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Cooper and I were up at 7, had breakfast and a walk and now I think he's asleep on the couch and I'm in here having my second cup of coffee.  It's not very cold out today...only 43º and heading for a high of 63.  I can live with that.  It's supposed to be cloudy all day and that's good for my eyes.  I see better in cloudy weather than I do in bright sun.

AMY, lunch yesterday was with a group from the office where I used to work and we get anywhere for 8 to 20 people.  Yesterday there were 8 of us.  We talked a blue streak!

My plan for today is to chop up and freeze onions, make some of "Jim's Egg Thingys" another walk for Cooper and whatever else crops up it's begging head.  Maybe I'll run the sweeper!  And maybe I won't!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; it's 8:51 am, plus 20, and we've got snow. Six inches of it so far, and another four inches expected. Tomorrow will bring more before it stops, finishes with icy rain, and clears over the weekend. Tonight's temperature will be thirty—quite a change from yesterday's plus six and icy.

Everyone is busy online as usual. I've only simple everyday chores and checking the mail on my list. All my friends on the ridges, slopes, and along the rivers are staying warm and safe inside after dancing in the snow.

I've heard some good news, Alan is staying awake, and Dora is alert and learning to walk with a trailing oxygen hose. Their land and animals have been sold, and the new owners have signed the papers and legally agreed to keep the green as is between the seven properties.

Time to head for the haystack and I'm READY.  My eyes are in clunk shut mode and my body is drooping!  I got the onions chopped and packed and frozen.  I made Jim;s egg thingys and Cooper and I took two walks.  I didn't run the sweeper but I did wash up the kitchen floor and sweep the porches.  And I read the paper and did the crossword and the work jumble!

I have plans for tomorrow but I'm not putting them in writing just in case....

PATRICIA, God loves your friends because he answered my prayers for them!  I'm so happy for them!

I guess most of our friends are visiting in another forum or out shoveling snow or doing "whatever".  I know I don't always acknowledge what they say but I always enjoy it!

Had a busy day here & started out with a slow moving old lady. My oxygen hose got messed up by ME, didn't get the bottle of water connected right so the air was escaping into that room instead of my nose. I was awake every couple hours but too washed out to figure what was wrong, daughter did that when she got up this morning. I survived but took all morning to get me fixed up enought to call the tax guy.

Bless his heart, he took me/us in after his last person at 1:00 pm. We went with all papers we could find & he fixed us up in no time. He's been doing my taxes since Cas died and was the one that suggested the best way to handle my "estate". Worked out much better than I hoped & will hold my breath until the money gets back into my bank account in April, if I am still here. The last biggest job is to plan my funeral (are you rolling your eyes at this?).

I really am not crazy, think this has been a real blessing to show everyone around me that dying does not have to hurt and is completely normal, WE have turned it into a big production and become uptight and afraid so makes us tense. Now if I had my "druthers" I'd just take that motorhome with me but family rolls their eyes and insist there is no place to park it in Heaven. I'm planning this trip like I did for every camping trip, but this time I don't pack a thing.

Guess I'd better shut up and get to bed. Have 2 gr-daughters coming to visit tomorrow, one stopping for overnight as she flies from coast to coast. She stays in a hotel & takes lots of allergy pills for cat allergies, her sister lives in town. Each are doing very well in their jobs/cutting edge in 2 different aircraft industries. I'm making a big pot of potato/celery/onion soup for them with all the cheese they want to put in for each. They all have issues with what they eat because of the Crohn's Disease in the family. One has controlled with meds & the younger by diet. And I still enjoy feeding my family.

Patricia, I am happy to read the good news about your friends. Tell them "there is a world out here they haven't met but because of your caring, have been saying prayers and thinking of them".

We are in that bitter cold but no moisture of any kind. Supposed to warm up by Sunday & stay in spring mode for at least a while. Afraid this super cold might kill a lot of the early plants.

Sweet dreams, God Bless each of you. If I don't get to bed quick it will already be tomorrow....  Love ya, Shirley/Tisie

Now he day is over
Night is drawing nigh.
Shadows of the evening...
Steal across the sky!

An old Girl Scout camp song that regularly creeps into my mind!

I hope you all had a good day.  I got a lot done but most of it doesn't show except to me.  I know how crumby my floors were and now they're clean.  The vacuum cleaner picked up a lot of crud and the throw rugs have assumed a color at least 2 shades lighter than before they jumped into the washer.  I know I don't do this as often as I should but who really cares except me!  And it takes a lot of crud to get through to me!

Now you all know...my house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy!

Cooper and I had our two walks but it was so cold out there that he cut them a bit shorter than usual.  He doesn't even mind walking in the rain and the snow as much as he does the cold and the wind!  Frankie is off this weekend so I won't be seeing him unless she decides that she has time for a visit.  We shall see!

A family of three and one other person in my church have come down with Covid so I've chosen to go to church on line for a couple of weeks.  I have to depend on someone to bring me home and that means hanging around at the coffee hour after the service so I'm thinking I'd be smart to avoid contact since I don't know who the people are or who else might have been in contact with them.

And now I'm going to get myself ready to hit the haystack.  I don't have to set the alarm since I won't have company and I don't have to go anywhere.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

JaneS, I noticed a few posts back that you were going to freeze chopped onions?  I have read that they are not prime targets for freezing.  In fact, I tried awhile back to freeze just a half of a chopped red onion, and when I thawed, Yuck! Not good.  Let me know if you have a secret process, and if yours turn out all right.  Thanks.

Another cold one starting out at -9° calling for more snow but I hope it doesn't listen.

Picking up a few items in town for Kyle then home to do laundry....may hang some out if the snow stays away.

Tome, I freeze onions  and use them in soups, stews or anything that is to be cooked. Not in salads .

Good Morning to Everyfriend who has shown or who will show.

TOME, AMY is right!  My chopped onions are frozen for use in things that have the onions cooked before use.  I do not use them in salads or uncooked!

I'm up and moving but I haven't decided what direction I'll be moving in this morning!  My book is in there on the end table and it's been shouting at me for days now.  Maybe I'll pick it up today!  The temperature is down to 24º today and "they" are calling for snow at some point today.  Seems like a good day to answer the call of a good book.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've had breakfast and I'm ready for my church service on line.  I'm not going there this morning.  We've had an outbreak of COVID and I'm not taking any chances.

AMY, my list is already started for what I want to take to OKLA.  Now if I just don't lose the list!

After I do the church service on line the rest of the day is going to be a "goof-off" day!  I'm only going to do what I feel like doing.

I sent the quilts to daughter Christy and she sounded impressed.  She's the one in my family who is into quilts.  She's made them for all the new babys and all the family weddings!  My grandmother would be delighted!

SHIRLEY, Cindy says it's only about a 2 hour drive from where she lives to Wichita and she's willing to drive me up there for a visit.  We'll have to think about that!  We could come and pick up lunch on the way and visit while we eat!  What do you think?

I'm off to clean up after breakfast and grab a second cup of coffee.  Then I have to see if the paper came, get dressed and make the bed.  Then it will probably be time for the church service.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

I have a small palm-sized notebook where I jot down anything I want to remember. I also use a free online listmaker called Keep on both my phone and my computer, so anything I put on the phone Keep app is instantly placed on the computer keep apt.

I also like the keep app because it is no frills. It simply makes lists.

Time to be thinking about the haystack!  I got a lot done today including a visit with Frankie and Cooper!  Cooper got a bath while he was visiting!

I made my Cowboy Bean Soup and that will last me a few days.  I also fried the Matzo balls.  I like them better that way than in the soup!

LLOYD, IF YOU CAN EMAIL ME YOUR ADDRESS (DON'T PUT IT ON HERE) I'LL CHECK IT OUT WITH CINDY1  SHE'S THE DRIVER AND SHE HAS TO DECIDE WHERE WE STOP!

Now I'm heading for the haystack.  I don't have to be up and attem early because Cooper won't be here until a little after 11 in the morning and Frankie might decide to spend the nigh here since she'll be home late and then has to be in early in the morning.  We'll see what happens!

PATRICIA, I've never heard of the "Keep" app on the phone.  I'll have to check that out.

And now, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Good night and sweet dreams!

It's cold out there today!  AMY, that nasty weather is moving south tonight. By the time Frankie is off work at 8 p.m. it will have hit here.  I really hope she decides to spend the night here.  It will save her some driving on bad roads both tonight and tomorrow morning

As soon as I'm finished here, I'll have to get dressed and be ready to meet up with Cooper.  I haven't decided on what to do today other than to pack up my Cowboy beans!  There are lots of things poking up their heads and shouting in my direction but I don't know which one to shut up first!  It never ends!  And I guess I don't want it to end because when it does, maybe I will too!

Cathy has an appt. over in Danville (about 17 miles away) and the bad weather isn't supposed to hit until she's back home safely!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

That bad weather is supposed to get here late afternoon or early evening. Nice out now, but cold.

Good morning; I'm late getting to the computer this morning. I see everyone is awaiting yet another storm. Europe, Asia, and the East also have terrible weather. It was minus six yesterday, and today it is minus 33. Tomorrow will be plus eleven, and so it goes.

Nothing is going on here; the streets are plowed outside, but not the sidewalks, which are the different businesses' and homes' responsibility. I checked on some noise outside my bedroom window and saw someone's car being towed while a small plow waited to clean up the sidewalk and small end street. It's supposed to be warmer weather and more snow, which is typical for March, but how much snow is in contention these days?

I'm staying inside finishing some last-minute chores and perhaps laundry if I can talk myself into it. I'm discovering I have two opposite sides as I'm trying to improve my health. This morning I had a small box of raisins and afterward decided not to go after a second. I swear the next thought was I had a bag of raisins in the cupboard!  ::)  Evidently, my brain thought it was the container at issue!

I'm here to turn off the lights and wish all sweet dreams. Busy-busy day but right now the tummy is full and the bed is calling. We made serious headway on the stuff in the entry hall that came out of the motorhome. More stuff still out there so will do another haul in tomorrow.

Callie, glad you & yours came thru all those tornados... & it can be spelled with the e on the end or not.......so there.

Lloyd, time to retire!

We had a windy but warm day & another tomorrow.  How windy & how warm?  Don't know!

God Bless and as our June used to tell us, "God will be awake all night watching for us" and I love that thought.

Hello!  My eyes are in clunk-shut mode so I'm just going to say "Good Night Everyfriend" and head off for the haystack.  Frankie has gone to bed already and I think I heard her put Cooper in my room before she closed her door.

I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy tomorrow.  God bless!

Shirley shut the lights out but I can still see my keyboard.
The weather caster was right - At 7:00pm the snow started. The roads are being covered in spite of the salt and brine they put down.
It's been a busy day today and I'm ready to stop.

Goodnight all

Good morning..

I hope everyone slept tight and snug as a bug last night. Ours was a restless one with Kyle having a pulled muscle. Time will heal.

Wind started around 2:30 am and then rain  came. I don't know when snow started but we have about 3"  of it so far and it is still coming down. Some say we will get between 4-6" and some freezing rain too.

Patricia, thank you for the cam really enjoy watching the "Northern Lights"

Shirley, I don't envy your job of finding spots for all your goodies from the camper.I do know that when we sold our 5th wheel I ended up with a lot of kitchen appliances and found it came in handy when one in the house gave up I would get the extra (toaster, kettle) in the basement. I worked for a lady that said having two of everything is a blessing and I stand by that today.

Patricia, I enjoy nibbling on raisins, try mixing them with chocolate chips. ( I know , I am not helping am I? )

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

It's nice and bright out this morning. I wonder why. Oh ----- it's the 4" of wet snow on everything. Cleared the ramp  (8" high) to my front porch. Don't want anyone to slip on it. Will do the rest later - unles solar snow removal takes over. I think the ground still has some warmth in it so it (the snow) may melt on it's own.

"I enjoy nibbling on raisins, try mixing them with chocolate chips. "  Or on a PB sandwich.

Snow has been cleared for now. No shear pins broke but I did break a steering trigger :(  When I pick up the vehicle from the garage tomorrow I will go get a replacement in town for the snowblower. Wood box filled and another load of wood brought into the garage....
The weather man said more snow coming this weekend......isn't that just peachy. :))

Forgot to add......my lunch was a wrap with pb and banana...will throw in raisins next time.

Hey there, friends!  I just noticed that I didn't check in this morning.  Frankie and Cooper spent the night and Cooper couldn't make up his mind if he wanted to sleep with me or his mommy so he kept changing places all night.  As a result, I didn't sleep well last night.

I did manage to do some laundry today and I even threw in some stuff that Frankie left in her room.  Now she doesn't have to wash work clothes today.

Cooper and I had two nice long walks and he proved himself to be a good boy.  However, he doesn't like to be towel dried when we walk in the rain!  And he lets me know it!

I got a lot done today and I'm ready for the haystack.  Cooper will be back at 6:46 tomorrow so I'm heady for the haystack early tonight.  Maybe I can make up for last night.

RICK, we had snow in during the night and there was a layer on the grassy areas and the parked cars.  Not much on the roads or driveways.  Then it turned to rain and melted it all by about 2 o'clock.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  God bless!
