I stare at a blank page. Concentrating.
What could I possibly write?
What words powerful enough exist?
to express how I truly feel.

 I hold the phone.  Pondering.
What could I possibly say?
What spoken word would be enough?
to convince you of the my endless love.

I sit with my head in my hands. Wondering.
What could I possibly do?
What actions would undoubtedly prove?
that you are my everything.

If love were a tear drop,
my love for you would drown the world.

A preacher is coming to the end of his sermon and he tells the congregation, "In preparation for next week's sermon, everybody read Leviticus chapter 28."

Next week when everybody comes in the preacher follows up, "Now who read Leviticus chapter 28?"

Almost everybody raises their hands.

The preacher says, "Okay, good.
There is no Leviticus chapter 28. I'd like to begin my sermon on lying."

A blonde woman goes to her lawyer and tells him, "I want to divorce my husband."

The lawyer says, "Do you have any grounds?"

She replies, "Yes, we have a few acres. But there's nothing valuable on it."

He says, "That's not what I meant, do you have a grudge?"

She replies, "Yes, that's where I park my car."

The lawyer becomes angry at this point,
"Why do you want a divorce?!"

She replies, "We have trouble communicating."

HAPPY NEW YEAR 🎆
I wish you all a healthy and happy year to come.  May 2021 be a year where we can heal the world from this horrible virus and heal the hearts of so many who are suffering.

Feeling very blessed that no one in my immediate family or friends have had to endure this Covid Virus.  I hope and pray we can all get vaccinated and be safe soon.

Again, I feel so thankful for having all of my friends in this Shoppe in my life.  Getting to communicate with all of you has always been so special to me and I hope we can all continue to enjoy each other for a good long time.

Pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Thank you, BUBBLE, for our nice new SODA SHOPPE for 2021 🥰

Not quite midnight in central Oklahoma but I've watched the ball drop in Times Square and am about ready to drop mine and  :sleepy: .

The weather alerts throughout the evening indicate that we may discover several inches of snow when we wake up next year.

Sleep well,Everyfriend, and have pleasant dreams of a Happ(ier) New Year.

Happy New Year, may this be the year that turns everything around and gets us all back on track!

Good morning.

Didn't hear any guns going of or fireworks either last night. Sure hope people that said they were having parties last night changed their mind.

A day of letting it do what it wants here. Kyle built a new hutch for his desk so we will be bringing it in and his old one will be put on my desk. Nothing else has been planned for the day.

Jane, I always enjoy talking with my cuz :)

Bubble, thank you for the new start page. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

As I look out my window at the rainy, dreary skies it just looks like the old year to me.  But, I know that behind those clouds the sun is shining somewhere......isn't it?

I didn't see the ball drop or hear the fireworks.  I tried to keep my eyes open but had to give up a little after 11 o'clock last night and let the new year come in without any help from me.  I guess it made it just fine without me.

I wish a good day and a good new year for all of my friends.

Good morning HAPPY NEW YEAR.
I am fine but worn out. We did a lot of cooking on Thursday and being on my feet too long left me with wobbly legs. Laid on the couch most of yesterday and it rained most  of the day. Was supposed to go to my son's today but too tired to go.
Have a wonderful day and stay healthy in 2021. I am going to head back to the couch.

HAPPY 2021 EVERYFRIEND

I am listening to Guy Lombardo, AMY, and thank you so much for sharing this.  This is the type of New Years I would like to celebrate, not the current ones with all the unknown people to me on the New Years Eve shows😩

We did make it well past midnight, so officially welcomed in the new year.

The pot of black eyed peas are cooking and they sure do smell yummy.  We are going to have crab cakes in a hour or so as my hubby watches his football games🏈

I wish you all a good rest of this very first day of 2021.

Cheers,
Jenny

No one's been in here since about 3 this afternoon!  It's either a very busy day for everyone or you're all worn out from celebrating last night?

I'm off to the haystack to look for some zzzzs!  I had my sauer kraut for luck in the new year so my grandfather is happy!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning everyone..

We are to get more snow today, rather have that than rain!
Off to the grocery store early to pick up items for our friends and us . Then home to do laundry and tidy up.. Just seems laundry day is coming quicker each week and I am always chasing dust bunnies.

Jenny ,you're welcome. Is crab cake made the same way as salmon cake only with crab instead?

Gloria, hope you are feeling better today..

Enjoy your day  and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, finally feel rested. Guess I better stop trying to cook and just let Yvette do the cooking. But at  least I have 8 containers in the freezer with vegetable soup the way my Mom made it and I had some yesterday and it sure tasted good.

JENNY  in the years of Guy Lombardo we could understand the words and they made sence and had rythm to the music. I loved t he big band era.

JANE  I was washing  dishes a t midnight and didn't  realize the time so guess I welcomed in the new year. By t he t ime I finished i t was no wonder I slept the first day of  the new year away.

AMY  feel rested this morning, hope it keeps up all day. You sound like where my daughter lives, anyone going into town will ask if anyone needs anything. Where they are on a mountain with dirt roads it take s an hour to get into town.

Time for my breakfast, Have a good day everyone and Please God let this vaccine work and kill the covid-19.

Well, at least I don't have to drink my coffee alone while I talk to myself this morning!  I did take a look over in NB&T and I see a lot of you congregate over there.  When I was sort of new in Senior Net, I warned in no uncertain terms not to join a certain person's conversations, so I don't find it easy to post over there.  I sure hope we don't lose the Soda Shoppe!

We had sleet and freezing rain overnight and it's supposed to continue into the day.  Needless to say, my car will sit in the driveway today.  And I hope everyone I love will stay home, too.

My plan for today, is to pack up the Christmas decorations and then sort the recycling and load it in the car ready for the the next day it's open.  And that should keep me pretty busy.

Frankie and Cathy were both planning to come by today but I hope they change their minds due to the weather.  It's really icy out there and the township doesn't do salt.

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

P.S. Now I'm going over and look at the "Guess Who" picture again.  I'm guessing!

Jane, Seniors and Friends is our home B&T is just another room in the home. :)

Did you send the 3 inches of snow that Kyle told me we now have??  Not sure if it a waltz with shovel or breakdance with snow blower....will wait till it is light out.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for January 1, 2021

The rain has finally stopped but now it is foggy.  I disagree, Amy.  I'd rather have rain than snow.  I've never had to get out and shovel rain..  ;D

I'm afraid there were a few in the old Sr. Net that had that attitude, Jane, but I don't think it exists here in any of the forums in S&F.  I'm pretty sure you would be more than welcome to post in Bait & Tackle if you wanted to.

David has to pick up groceries today though I really am not interested in even thinking about food.  The pot roast yesterday was excellent but there was a lot of it and we will be eating it again for Sunday dinner.

I was really tired, too, Gloria, after cooking yesterday.  I went to bed early last night but I think I was too tired to sleep well so I'm looking forward to a nap after lunch.

Take care, All.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for January 1, 2021
Post by: Shirley on January 02, 2021, 11:25:29 AM
Phyllis, I was also too tired to go to sleep so will nap today.  I slept a lot yesterday but did wear myself out with the snow blower. Our snow was wet & heavy & the poor blower kept clogging up in the chute so I would bounce it up & down to get the clog out. Afraid cleaning off the snow just left the ice below & NO de-ice stuff & forgot to bring up a bucket of sand from the river bed. Last year the gophers had piles of sand up on top so all I had to do was take my bucket & shovel & fill it. At least the sand doesn't damage the concrete... & doesn't hurt the grass when it washes off. Ah, well, will bring up a bucket full when this snow melts.

Did I tell you that some "down the street neighbors" came to MY path to the river & wore all the snow off before I got a chance to go out with my snow nut???  They've walked the river a lot, with kids & big dog, and know I wore off all those darn thorns that will puncture tires (I couldn't keep the tires up on the other wagon I had, got full of thorns).. anyway, those guys were like a bunch of kids after their kids went home with the mothers... haha, they were hopping on their adult size saucers & flying down the hill & over that hump going into the river bed. No danger since I now have all that "beach" where the beaver keep cutting down the trees. It is a fun place & I should have gone on out to take pics. When I went out to check after they were gone, there were patches all the way up & down of grass showing... they wore out MY SNOW!

Jane, I also noticed some of us post both places now & then.... I think I started when Mary Ann was trying to keep it going for Norm.... Like Amy said, it's now sort of another room in the house.

Gloria, I remembered to use the cream on my knees twice yesterday & think it made a difference so will double that today. I am also wearing some gee-mo-gotchees & think keeping knees warmer when in & out helps, too. Can we really be getting OLD???  :o

I've got to wrap up & bring the dumpster back to the garage. Normal pick up is on Fridays but ran a day later with Christmas... & I noticed one of the neighbors had put their's out for Friday Jan.1... so I put mine out just in case I didn't read the schedule. They came by today so will check out the ice & hope the mail person can get through without breaking their neck.  Since yesterday felt like Sunday it is impossible for my brain to believe this is Sat....  be so glad when holidays are over & I can get my head on straight! Here's to a great 2021...

Good morning, and it is chilly here in the Interior at nineteen below. It's not expected to get much warmer until next Wednesday, unfortunately. I have to go out and get some things done that I've put off. I have Amazon orders and friends dropping by every day tomorrow and next week, so no time to procrastinate as I've been doing.   :-[

Jane, in SeniorNet, back in 2000 when I came over from ThirdAge, I spent time in different regional groups, met Bunny, Rae, P.Roe, and so many nice people, and found PSP.  Somehow in all that, I discovered Norm and Papa John. Their antics and deep respect and friendship for each other drew me in.

Theirs was a welcoming community, and I believe there was some minor clashing between Pat Scott and Norm initially because they had prior groups they headed before SeniorNet. But it was all smoothed out other than a blip or two after SeniorNet's blowout.

Actually, it was here that I started posting in the Soda Shop, only because I knew NB&T better. But as others have said, it's just another room in the house. We're all family.

Thanks everyone for the "explanation" but what was said to me almost made me leave the website permanently.  If it hadn't been for another contacting me personally, I probably wouldn't be here.  To me NB&T isn't another room.  It's a different house.  I do sometimes go and read just to to see who's there but I can't bring myself to post.

I love this place and almost everyone I've "met" here I'd like to meet in person.  That other person isn't even around anymore and I should be able to shake that feeling but I haven't been able to do that. Maybe I need to add it to my prayers.  I never thought of that until just now!

We had sleet and freezing rain over night and into the morning but it didn't last.  And the roads were clear before noon.

I got a lot done but you can't really see it.  All the Christmas decorations are sitting on the dining room table and I need to bring in the tubs that they go in and get out the regular stuff and put away the Christmas stuff.  I also have to pick apart the chicken and freeze it and maybe make some chicken salad for lunch tomorrow.

Right now, I have to hit the haystack! I sure hope it's full of zzzzs because I'm tired! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one.

Amy I went back and looked. I see the email envelope I clicked on edit and clicked it and it went away all of the post but then I could not post at all , no place to type. I clicked on it and it came bac and I could type here to you. I am going to post this and go back and re delete it and hope this stays. then I am going and take my insulin shot and go to bed. I will try to reamer to check in the morning and see if it is ok, if not I will re delete it. and see if Nicole can fix it after she gets home from school. she has to go work at school. I do not know if she has to teach at school or on line. the Virus you know still has things messed up. we have to keep praying god helps got it fixed. and it is really serous. our youngest sons wife's mother died with it and she was in hospital with panamoa and cough it and died.

Good morning...

This IS a good morning as there is no snow to play with.   A day of rest here, other than meeting friends and giving them the groceries I picked up for them nothing else is on the agenda.

Jane, thankfully your sleet did not last long.

Patricia, loved your quote. I think now we must have this summer heat within to get through all this.

Phyllis , here the rain freezes and may cause you to have moves that is envious of any break dancer  ;D

Lloyd, I have emailed Bubble about your post and she will help you.

I am sitting here at my desk ,listening to the deep breathing of Jesse..life of a dog.

good Morning everyone, well we got a little more snow yesterday, not much but still very cold and no sun. I drove the car down to get the mail yesterday. the road is up hill and down at the intersection of our drive. so I had to back way up to the next up hill to get enough speed to get turned in our drive. and then stop and walk across to the mail box and get the Mail. we are not going out today and are  going to tune the TV into TV and listen and watch the preacher. and tomorrow I will ride my grislier four Wheler to the mail box. Have a good day see you all later.

Good morning everyone, slept late again and feel awake, no nap  this morning. Another gray day here but it is that time of year.
rather see i t snow though. That is prettier.

SHIRLEY  the Hempvana-no more than 3 times a day but use it every day. Even the  5 times a week I ge t it on my back has helped so much. Do you own the bank to the river? If so tell them it is provate  property and stay off. If it is publick you cannot complain. As far as you getting on that tube about time you only do that if someone is with you. We sure do not want to hear you are in the hospital for getting hurt.

LLOYD  great when someone in  the family can help wi th comput ers. I am luvky to have my grandson. That is what he studied in college.

AMY  I used the ice melt pelle ts and it never hurt the walk or  the near by garden. That  is what the maintenance man here uses. Supposed to start snowing around 5 late afternoon and snow all night. Will see how close the guessers are this time.

PATRICIA  it was Mare in Bis' Busy that got me to stay in SN. It was Bunnie that got me interested in PSP. I miss it but cannot sit long enough to do anything is PSP anymore.

JANE  I was  ready  to qui t SN when Mare emailed me and invited me to the nest. No ma tter where I went and posted no one bot hered  to even say hello. Sure glad Mare emailed me, I would be lost without my cyber family. I will have to wait till Yvette is here tomorrow to get the little decorations I put out  to get put away. I cannot reach the shelf they go on anymore.

PHYLLIS  you used to be pretty helpful before, glad you can still help when needed.

Have a good day and st ay safe.

Jane, will do!

From Jennifer Weeks, Environment + Energy Editor and The Conversation's newsletter, "The biggest environment and energy stories of 2020 remind me of a line from "Pogo," the classic comic strip that ran from 1948 to 1975: "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Scientists widely agree that COVID-19, like HIV and Ebola before it, emerged from the global trade in wild animals. Greenhouse gas emissions from human activities heated the Arctic to its warmest level in 3 million years. Even Asian giant hornets, which seemed like something out of science fiction, probably were transported to North America in a shipping container.

What gives me hope in the face of news like this is work by researchers nationwide to understand our planet's intricate systems and find ways to live on it more lightly. One of the readers' favorite stories from 2020 described how scientists trapped bacteria to analyze cloud formation around Antarctica. I was equally impressed by scientists who have spent a decade mapping how oil from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon spill permeated the Gulf of Mexico. And if you're starting to wonder whether there was any pure good news about the environment this year, I recommend our article explaining how urban composting can reduce waste, slow climate change, and improve our soil – all starting with food scraps."

Thank you for the prayers for Mavis. I'll let you know when her test comes back.  She's a retired registered nurse and has been doing home care but none of her patients have this disease.  She has a bad cold and she and her dr. agreed it was a good idea to do the test.

Patricia, I never throw food away but offer it to critters "in the wild" that are hungry because we've invaded their hunting ground. Still, composting is a great idea, one that my parents practiced all my life. I have neighbors that are diligent about it but we never did. To be honest, we don't have a lot of ground space to do it.

Gloria, the land going down to the river is "right of way" and belongs to the Park Department, Fish & Game.... As land was developed to the west of downtown Wichita, people did have control of the river bank. Some built docks that became eye sores when flooding damaged & hazards to people boating on the river. City decided to keep control of the land at that point and since rivers are noted for changing all the time, they allowed plenty of land designated as "Park Department". BUT, we do pay higher taxes to be on the river and I've spent 31 years cleaning that path down to the water, planting flowers & trees and all of the other property owners along here have the right to do the same. Instead, they just enjoy MY labors.

I've always invited the walkers to come see MY fish that come when I whistle.... My cats won't go down if anyone else is in sight so I am a little protective of their rights, as well. Nearly every house now has fences around their property but both ends of this stretch of houses is open. We have a park on the east end and the last house to the west sits by the bridge & short stretch of another park that ends at the dam. The dam was built to save downtown Wichita from the Arkansas River flooding. We don't see too many strangers on this side of the river, but when we first moved here it was a problem. There is a bike/walking path on the other side so really no excuse for anyone but property owners on this side. Lots of people using that bike path all the time.

I remember Mare & was thinking about her the other day. What ever happened to her? Who was the other lady that was "in the group" that had the gr-daughter/runner?  We've had so many neat people pass through our lives because of SeniorNet and the ones that bailed us out when that folded. Many thanks to all that help keep us together, God Bless and watch over you!

Jane, thoughts & prayers for your neighbor/friend.

I never forget on Jan.3.... back in 1944, my pet chicken, Maggie, died. My brother stayed home from school with me and we created a plaster of paris wall plaque with her name with alphabet soup letters. He helped himself to my sister's red nail polish to paint the name, don't think she ever knew it, but I was afraid she'd find out & kill me!!! Maggie was well known since she joined any group I played with during those years. She was allowed to go to school with me a few times, but if I forgot to lock her up she would follow & I had to take her home every morning. The principal at that time moved on to the high school & he remained my buddy until graduation, always introduced me as "Maggie's friend". When Maggie had permission to go to school she rode in the wicker doll buggy so the teachers could push her around. Looking back, I was a little strange even back then!  Age didn't make me any different!  ;)

So much for the life & times of Shirley..........

Shirley you and I fiend too Many things to do, but you could get a piece of concrete wire and role it into a circle about 2-3 feet in dimeter, and three steel post, get a little help drive them in the ground to the little thing that keeps them from turning, fasten the wire about 8" off of the ground. gather all your yard clippings and food scraps , put it in it, that will make good compost and not take up too much space or bad smell either . good to put around your flowers and a  tomato plant or two, they will give you fresh tomatoes to eat early. you can start some of them any time. get seeds out of your faveort tasting one. get tow paper towel's leave them together. lay the seeds on one and fold them at the tare line. keep them damp not too wet. when they get about two three inches tall transfer them to little paper cups. in garden soil in them. set them in a east window. will be worth your time. we plant two plants in our flowerbed out front . good Night and sweet dreams.

Good morning..

Weather forecast is no snow at all this week...we shall see.

If all goes well today  we will take my sister her birthday gift but a lot depends on getting the gift. If not today then a phone call to her and we will go tomorrow.

Shirley, I wouldn't use the word strange but  would use unique. I do the same with food, either the birds or a fox will get the unwanted food here. When crow is here in the summer he will remind me to put his breakfast out in the morning.

Jane, hope Mavis gets her results soon. Sometimes the waiting is worse that the problem!

Lloyd, fresh tomatoes would taste darn good right about now. The store bought ones have little flavour in them.

Patricia, we are our own worst enemy but seldom learn from it.

Gloria, I don't mind grey days when driving as the sun can poke the eyes right out of you.

Joy, hope all is well with you..

Phyllis, does your area need the rain? Last summer was so dry here, the trees were whistling for the dogs to come by.

Better  get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

OOPS!!!  It looks like I forgot to say "Good Night" last night.  So...Good Night and Good Morning.  We got a total of about three inches of wet, heavy snow and the plow did it's usual and didn't clear the last of it from blocking my driveway.  When I first moved here, the plow guy was careful to leave the MOUND at the end of the road clear of my driveway but this guy isn't so careful!  I may have to call the Township Office!

Our boinger just went off and Cooper is due.  When he comes this early, it's usually without breakfast so I think I'll wait a few minutes until he shows up and they can eat together.

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning everyone, was snowing-big beautiful flakes when I went to bed last night. Made me want to sit at the window and just wa tch it. Went to bed instead. Was so disappointed when I looked out, only a couple of inches. I did not even hear Paul-maintenance- plow the walks or the plow either. I keep saying when I sleep I don't hear anything. Guess that is what is meant by "dead to the world"?
Think I will call Staples t oday and ask it they have a keyboard and mouse compatable with this HP. Both are driving me away from the comput er.

JANE  hope you don't get the freezing rain. That is bad for anyone. Oh I am sorry about y our neighbor. My SIL lost about 25 pounds the week he was in the hospital. Daughter said mostly muscle. He has to build that up again and also get his breathing back to normal. When the day is nice they go outside and walk around the yard till he tires. When we are on Skype I see him walking around in t he house.

PATRICIA  aft er WW2 when we started impor ting i tems again from Japan we had a lo t of Japanese beetles that denuded  trees. My FIL bouoght some traps when they were invent ed and he would cap ture hundreds of them every day.  They aren't seen aroung here now. Wish they could capture the covid virus like that and destroy it.

SHIRLEY  tha t was Mare whose grand daught er was a runner. Mare and I kept in contact for a long time but that  petered out after a few years. Who said you were/are weird? You are just normal to me. My MIL had a pet pig that at times followed her to school. That was in Nova Scotia.

LLOYD  I used to st art my tomato plants from seed. I found years ago an eas t window is the best for house plants. Now I have sout west windows so cannot have plant s in t he window but if I keep  them at least 18 inches away from the windos they do not ge t the strong sun.

AMY  st ore tomatoes may look like  toma toes but sure do no t tast e like them. When I get the urse for a  tomat o I get tomatoes on the vine, the do taste a little like one. When I was working it seemid I drove into the sun going to work and coming home. I finally got a pair of tinted glasses and that worked better.

Have a good day and stay safe.

No trees whistling for dogs around here, Amy.   ;D  I looked it up...we are just a smidge under 8 inches above normal for the year (2020).  At least, it isn't raining today...yet.

Laundry today and that is back to normal for the week and the new year.

Take care...stay well...All

My friend, Mavis has tested positive for covid and has been taken back to the ER for treatment.  She was having trouble breathing and had all the effects of a bad cold.  Please say and extra prayer for her.  She's such a good, hard working person!  She is also a visiting nurse and was in line for the vaccine for that and for her age!
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for January 1, 2021

My sincere sympathy to Mavis, Jane.... and I'm sorry she already went to the ER/hospital. My being at home kept me moving (taking care of cats & me). A few nights of doubts, if I was smart but the son that was on call in case I needed oxygen assured me he'd "give me a ride to remember in his Mustang!" Haha.... another thing to keep me from yelling "uncle".  Being a nurse the other nurses will probably take extra special care of her. Prayers & thoughts will continue.

I have been on a roll this morning, got my driver's license taken care of (boy, look like death warmed over with the white hair that blends into the white back drop)... Almost didn't pass the eye exam wearing old glasses so made an appointment to get eyes tested again & hope for a better fit. Have CDs rolling over & not going to lock them up so arranged to dump into a money market account in hopes of better rates soon. I'm shocked the day is nearly done & I'm still in my "go out" clothes so thinking about a drive thru for food for supper. I'm tired of my cooking.

Gloria, who was the other gal... one's husband's name was Frank, I think... I wasn't sure who's gr-daughter was the runner. Was interesting to read about. The two talked about pain patches & which worked best. I was interested because Cas used various types of pain relief. Glad your son in law is working on the muscles... I may never get mine back at this age but pushing more every day. Then I hit a melt down & nearly sleep around the clock. Don't like to brag, but I am a very good sleeper!!!  Maybe it helps to be lazy?

I expect the hill is muddy with snow melt so probably slippery. A day or two & it will dry out since there's only a few inches of dirt & all sand below. I have some bread to take down & will take the camera with me, just in case a critter shows up. Need to bring up a bucket of sand for the driveway...

Amy, I will hold off on ordering the ice melt. Once I waltzed with the snow blower sun came out next day & driveway totally dry. I discovered a small bag of snow melt when moving stuff around to get the snow blower back in.

I'm off to check out the Who Was... I couldn't come up with even a decent guess! Try again if you will, Bubble, I do enjoy the challenge.

Now the day is over,
Night is drawing nigh,
Shadows of the evening
Steal across the sky!

I missed singing that old camp song tonight.  I didn't see "night drawing nigh" or the "shadows of the evening".  Funny what brings back the memories of the old camp songs.

I mooched the doggies around a bit tonight so I could stretch out on the couch and that was the end of my eyesight!  I corked off almost immediately.  I was really tired tonight.  Got lots done and a good start on the storage room.  Tomorrow the Wise Men will arrive at the stable and then Wednesday, they can get packed up for another year.  Tomorrow, I'm bringing out the two Christmas storage tubs and taking the regular stuff out of them and packing up all the Christmas stuff.  I have one tub of Christmas tree ornaments that I can't get rid of and Cathy and I have decided that when Cindy and Ali are visiting from OK next summer, I'll bring it out for everyone to root through and take what they remember from the old trees and then I'll chuck the rest of it....if I can bring myself to do that!

I have all the stuff packed up for the recycling for this coming Saturday and my shopping list started for the weekend.  I packed up all the Christmas wrapping stuff and the candy making stuff and packed that all away.  Switched around some shelves in the the storage room and took down the extra table for wrapping etc.  It looks almost empty in there.

Almost forgot, I also shoveled most of the melting slushy stuff off the driveway because Cathy said she was coming after work and do it and I did't want her to have to do that.

Thank you all for the prayers for my friend, Mavis.  She called me tonight to tell me that they are keeping her at the hospital because her cold isn't just a cold.  It'd pneumonia.  This doesn't sound good!  Please keep her in your prayers.

Now I'm off to the haystack and I think it must be loaded with zzzzzs because I think they are coming down the hall after me!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one.

Good morning...

Another lovely day in the making, I really enjoy these warmer temps and it is 26° at the moment. The 10 -20 below will likely find it way here in time.

Yesterday was the perfect day for touring, we did stop at the cheese factory and gleaned more cheese. Then onto my sisters but had ( according to Kyle) go through the choco factory area to get there.  The store was closed (which I had tried to tell him) as it is not essential. Try telling a chocolate lover that it is not essential!!

Stopped at my sisters for a brief moment to give her her gift then tootled on home. All in all a good day, perfect weather and no sun in our eyes. We did see an owl sitting on a wire and that was the only critter we saw.

Neighbour came over and cleaned both chimneys for us
not a lot came out just dry very fine powder so we are good to go for a while now.

Jane, Mavis is in the best place at the moment and she will get good care from her fellow nurses. Prayers for a speedy recovery for her.

Shirley, I had to chuckle at your ride to remember :2funny:

Gloria, that is what I buy also  but can't wait for a sun ripe tomato.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Well, I waited long enough that I don't have to talk to myself.  Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who shows up.

I've been up since about 6:30 and it's also warmer here.  Most of the new snow is slushy and melting.  The old stuff is absorbing the water from the melting slush and it's really giving the ground a good soaking.

AMY, I still have chocolate left from the candy making and my doors are not locked.  I figure to put on a couple of pounds before the leftovers all disappear.

I got the all the Christmas stuff except for the Nativity set packed away this morning.  The Wise Men have arrived in Bethlehem and tomorrow they will all find their way into a box until next Christmas.  Both dogs have had a walk and they both took care of business.  Frankie came by but she needed to do an errand so Cooper is still here.  She'll be back later to get him.  Both doggies are sleeping and I sure do feel like joining them.  I think I overdid yesterday and then more this morning.  I'm thinking about goofing off the rest of today.  Don't tell anyone!

I will have to do some work on the month's bills but I can sit for that if my eyes will stay open!  I think an afternoon nap is on the agenda!

I'm getting a yearning for lunch and trying to hold off for another hour but I might not make it!  Haven't heard from Mavis yet today but the way she sounded last night, I'm not surprised!

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow!  Do what's best for YOU!

Good morning every one. Will be afternoon when I finish. Called the dentist yesterday and will see her tomorrow afternoon. All of a sudded where she pulled the 2 teeth out is hurting bad when I try  to talk. Either a piece of bone or infection. Don't know. Cannot talk without pressing on the area on my face where it hurts inside. Such fun NOT.

PHYLLIS  we are almost as low on rain as you are over for 2020.

JANE  prayers for Mavis. I think it will be awhile before my SIL is back  to normal.

SHIRLEY  Mare's husbamd was Frank and their grand daughter got a scolorship for a college here in RI to be on their running team.

JANE my SIL did not know he had pneumonia until a nurse called after he was home. In that hospital they told him nothing. That is one reason his lungs are not working like they should yet. He has a doctor appointment tomorrow with his doctor and he will find out more then.

AMY  at least the tomatoes on the vine smell a bit like a tomatoe even if the taste in not quite there. Like you husband I NEED my chocolate to survive.

JANE  not lazy, anyone over 70 deserves to take life easy, we are retired ad the days of having to work are over. Remember JOAN's book and all the demerits you have now?

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning from an Interior that's still trying to make up its mind, back and forth, above then below zero again. This is not our old normal January, but it is consistent with what's happened before in this odd winter.

Jane, you've made me duck my head with my love of couch surfing. In any case, you're an example for me to get off my duff.  :(

I'm hoping for Mavis, too, and also hope it will be better soon or at least easier for her.

Amy, while I tend more to savory than sweet, no longer having chocolate is going to be hard for me. One nice surprise is finding how wonderful food tastes naturally without all the goop we habitually add. A simple vegetable salad or a plain slice of thick dark homemade bread has a deliciousness I've forgotten!

I hope Gloria that you can get in ASAP to your dentist to relieve your pain!

Gloria, thinking about Mare's granddaughter, reminded me of all the family members we'd grown used to hearing about, and I missed that. I did correspond for a long while with Martha, Papa John's daughter, but it eventually slowed down and stopped.

Funny, Amy, but a good point! You wouldn't be able to hold it longer in warehouses or to ship longer distances. You wouldn't be able to keep it as long before using it, and eating seasonal would be back. Farmers would have healthy lives, and bank accounts and the earth would thank us, and climate change would be vastly slowed.

However, that's unrealistic with humans demanding their "personal freedoms." Look at Covid and how they don't want to wear masks or take any precautions.

Oh, Gloria, my sincere sympathy for the pain in your head.... to me that is a bad as it can get because you can't (or at least I never could) convince myself that it will be okay. I can grit my teeth & control pain anywhere else but not my head. Do hope you can get it taken care of fast! I do keep a little "dixie cup" of equal parts salt & baking soda in my bathroom cabinet along side my toothpaste & brush.... wet my finger under the faucet & dip into the salt & soda & pat it on a sore.... wait a few seconds & rinse my mouth. Suggestion came from a dentist back in the old days. If I get a sore on the side of my cheek I go for a few bites of cold saurekraut.... grew up with that remedy & both work for different types of sores in the mouth. Good luck....

I opened up the RV & put the awning out ... awning always gets water in but looks like the rest of the unit is okay.  First snow to sit on top & melt since the new roof so a sigh of relief. I am SO ready to run away from home! Spring is around the corner (and if you believe that, I've got a bridge to sell).....  ;)   For true, not but a couple months & it is here & I'll be griping about the heat.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special "Good Morning AMY" since you are here already.  I was in earlier and put the coffee and tea on and left some goodies in the hidey hole.  Enjoy them.  They are the last of the Christmas cookies (including about a dozen Moose Farts, some sand tarts and a few chocolate crinkles)

I think I'm going to do some laundry today.  I don't have to tend it while it's going and I can sit around and do nothing while it does itself.  Sounds like a winner to me!

Checking in, Fitbit tells me I had 6 hours and 59 minutes sleep (a record for me) so I have no excuse to nap today. Maybe after effects of COVID finally wearing off. Hoping for a happier year ahead.

Cats all fed, girls sleeping and Tom wanted to check his territory outside. Weather kind of "iffy" today, maybe rain, maybe a little snow this morning, we need moisture yet. Back when we had an acre of land I would start tomato plants from seed this first week of the year, transplant them by St.Patrick's Day (March 17) to the garden Cas had plowed and put plastic milk gallons over them for those late frosts. I would save the lids & put on for real cold nights. We always had very early tomatoes because I planted the Early Girls & Big Boys and those Early Girls really did ripen a month before the others. Dad & Mom took great pleasure and pride in the garden, a reason to smile.

Lloyd, hope all goes well and the judge understands and is fair.

Just a quickie....I've been a little concerned about Joy not being around so I called her this morning.  She said she's been to the dr. and is being treated for anxiety.  The dr. told her the pills would take about a week to take effect and it's been only a few days.  She said she is very tired, has no appetite but forces herself to eat.  She sounded like she appreciated the phone call so I'm glad I thought of it.  I also told her that if she doesn't check in for a week, I'll be calling her again.  She liked that!  I also told her I was going to report to all of you and she said "Hello and I miss them all!"

Now I have laundry to put in the dryer!  Hope all's well with all of you!

Good Morning,

Jane, thank you for the report on Joy.  Anxiety is a serious thing and I hope the meds help her.
Just went over to Photos (thanks, Bubble) and saw the pic of your precious great-grands.  Are these the ones in Oklahoma?  They're so cute!  Emma's expression looks like Ellen's used to when she was that age and was asked to "smile for the camera".  Mikey looks as if he's saying, "There she goes again - showing off!"   :smitten:

Shirley,  you need an excuse to have a nap???  :o  Okay - how about "it's cold, raw and drizzly in central Oklahoma"? (That's my excuse for being a "recliner radish" and I'm sticking to it.  ;D)

Jane, I'm still blinking away tears from laughing at the "kids" expressions. Such a fun time of life, raising them and watching the personalities develop. Priceless memories and appreciate you (and Bubble) bringing this to us today.

Callie, if we ever get Jane to OK I will depend on you setting up a gathering (maybe she can even bring those kids?) I'll be there (anywhere) and we'll have a ball! I'm trying very hard this week to make up for the time lost with COVID.... Brain still not functioning at 100% but never did give it a chance to get too serious about daily life!

Joy, sorry you've been on a downer... think about it, wouldn't you have loved a few days of peace & quiet back when we were raising those kids?  Seriously, I keep telling my kids that life gets better all the time.... This is the worst stretch I think we've been through since those days of WWII.... I miss hugs and getting out to smile at people. I'm thinking about painting a smile on my mask or one sticking my tongue out (picture it).. just to hear someone snicker. Glad Jane had your phone number so we can give you a pep talk.

I've got to hike down to the river bed today to see what damage the beavers have done. Looking from the house it seems some of my tallest trees are missing.  :knuppel2: Clouding up so better get my hair trimmed & washed before the rain moves in.  I'll be back..............

thanks for all the nice comments about my kiddies.  You've all come very close to their personalities.  Emma is already a handful and I'm betting Mikey will be, too  In Emma's defense, she takes after her mother at that age and looks exactly like her so "what goes around, comes around".  And from what I know of Ali's husband, if Mikey takes after him, they'll have two the same.

SHIRLEY and CALLIE, you are making me want to come to OK even more that to see my family!  I'd love to get together with you!  But I'm pretty sure my traveling days are over.  I'm craving a visit but.....

Good morning..

Another great day in the making ,no snow called for and we should see some sun!

Taking hubby  in for blood work this morning then see if he wants to go for xray on his ribs. He took a face plant the other day and his chest is sore. I know they can't do anything for broken or cracked ribs just let them heal.

Managed to get some sewing done yesterday and will try to get more done today.

Jane, any word on Mavis?

Jenny, good to "see" you. Hope all is well in your area. How is Michele doing?

Lloyd, I do hope everything goes your way in the court case..prayers that it does.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good night for last night!  And good morning for this morning.  I fell asleep watching TV last night and when I woke up I was a bit groggy so I didn't come in the computer room.  I hope someone took care of the lights and turned off the coffee pot!  Oh yes, it looks like JENNY might have taken care of that.  I hope Bubble didn't stumble when she came by!

Today is another "catch up" day.  I have a load of laundry in the dryer to put away and another ready to go in the washer.  I have some stuff that needs to be cooked and a couple of things ready for the freezer.  Mickie will be ready for a walk as soon as I finish my breakfast and I need to start the car to make sure it goes.  Then I have the recycling stuff to load.  I guess I have plenty to keep me busy for a couple more hours or so.  I didn't mention a nap.  That's becoming a regular!

JENNY, I hope all that's keeping you from us isn't bad.  Don't forget to take care of YOU!

AMY, no broken bones please!  I hope Kyle's just a little sore and it keeps getting better.

Mavis is off oxygen and that's a good sign.  Her son promised to keep me informed.  If I don't hear from him today, I'll call him this evening.  I guess the prayers are working!

Now, I have to go get dressed so I can take Mickie for a walk.  Cooper isn't coming today.  Frankie was running late so her neighbor will look after him.  We always miss him when he doesn't come.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

As we sat patiently for the clinic to open  another vehicle pulled up to do the same. Hubby ,went up to wait in line only to find out the clinic moved!! So off we go to the new location and he did get his blood work done.

Jane, I asked if he wanted xrays but he opted out of getting it done.

Now to get to work...

Good morning everyone. Well it looks like I am ore antibitics. Seems I have a little hole in the sinus and that is the problem. She did say that the root  of the tooth close  to the sinus thing (whatever it  is called) has a hole. More pills and it that  does not work will have to go t o a dental surgeon. Ouch! Yvette will have to go for the new meds first thing when she gets here. I do not like taking so many antibiotics, because of my shoulder replacement I have to take 4 of them an hour before seeing the dentist. Think I am taking too many of them right now.

JANE  t hank y ou for the news about JOY.  Love that photo, the smile on Emma really got me.

CALLIE  when I mention a nap to Yvette she says "your body is old and tired and you need the nap" I tell her not to rub the age in. If she is lucky she will get this old, too.

JANE  you sound like me, I KNOW my  traveling days are over. Even going to my son's home less t han 10 minutes away ge ts me tired so canno t really enjoy  the visi t and am glad  to ge t home and lay down.

ROLEY-PETER  wonderful  to see you. Sorry you spent  time in the hospital.

Have to quit  for now. My t ummy is asking if I forgo t to feed i t and want to get dressed before Yvet te ge t here.

Good news...Roley's back!  Glad to "see" you again.

Bad news...Last night around midnight, I lost my best friend, Mavis.  She succumbed to the Covid virus combined with pneumonia.  The hospital allowed her son and family in to say their goodbyes to her and now they are all under quarantine until they test clear.  I can't stop crying!  I will miss her fiercely.  We both said on the phone that we couldn't wait until this pandemic was over and we could actually get together.

JANE, I am sorry and sad for you that your Friend Mavis has passed.

I wish I did not have to tell our sad news....but things have happened and the only thing we can do is accept the fact they have and try to move on.
*A group of Bob's first cousins all had Covid from being together at a family wedding.
*Another of Bob's first cousin was found dead in his home in S. Florida...he had esophagus cancer.
*Our sweet neighbor that lost her legs and has been fighting infections for 3 years contacted us to tell us her daughter was diagnosed with colon and lung cancer.  Of course she is well aware of our Michele's colon cancer and what she has been through.  She is having her surgery today.
*The preliminary report from Michele's MRI is not good.  There are signs of more growth in her cerebellum.😩  A group of doctors will look at it and will discuss the next plan of approach.  She is in a lot of pain and not sure why.  Of course, I have to say again how thankful I am for your thoughts and prayers.
*This morning, we got the word that one of the cousins husband has died from Covid.  So far the rest of the group seem to all be recovering.  The man who passed is 61 years old and had a new grand baby born the first of this week.  😩

I am way behind in reading all of the posts, so I hope to get them read soon.  I do wish you all a good day and I hope you and yours are staying safe from this awful virus.  I am appalled at how many people still continue to go through their daily lives like this pandemic is NOT serious and therefore continue on with life as if there is nothing to fear.  Bless their souls IF this horrid virus gets them or any of their loved ones.

Jenny

Jane, I was so sorry to read about Mavis; it is always so very hard to lose those we're long close to and care about. I can only agree with Amy's advice. This disease is terrible and seemingly is capricious about who it spares or doesn't.

Jenny, I have no words; I am so sorry.

Jane and Jenny, I am so very sorry to read about Mavis, Bob's relatives and the news about Michelle.  Prayers and caring thoughts for each of you.

Gloria, I have had sinus issues for about 65 years but had never heard of a hole!  Ugh!
My "naps" are more likely to be "dozes" while reading.  If I try to take a "formal" one by lying down and pulling a cover over me I wake up groggy and grouchy.

Still gloomy, cold and drizzly in central Oklahoma.  Speaking of grouchy..... >:(  !!

Oh, my, I had to get up & walk around to get my emotions under control. This has been a day for sad and bad news everywhere I go.

Sorry to read about Mavis, Jane, but glad to hear the hospital had a good heart and allowed her family to be with her. I know you will miss her and the happy visits you've had over the years.

Jenny, I felt sure you had terrible things going on that you weren't ready to talk about. You do know my prayers are on going and inclusive. I went to Sam's Club today & saw a greeter I had not seen for quite a while. She said she & her husband had Covid back in Nov and he died! I almost feel guilty for surviving, honestly. Like a bad dream.

Gloria, do hope your doctor sends you strong enough antibiotics to kick that infection for good. My son struggled with an infection in his leg for nearly 3 years, until he started having night sweats & chills and happened to see a different doctor in the group & was sent to the hospital immediately. The infection settled on his aortic valve so he had to spend a week in the hospital until massive antibiotics were pumped into him and the surgeons could replace the aortic valve. He wasn't 60 yet and now will be needing that valve replaced every 7-10 years the rest of his life and has no lymph nodes in his legs and constantly on guard for a scratch that could become infected. The doctor that let this go on insisted "he didn't want to pull out the big guns for a minor infection", so it has changed Andy's life forever.

My heart goes out to all of you suffering with such pain in your hearts, and pray that God will have mercy and send peace.

Thank you all for your sympathy!  I just can't seem to stop the tears.  I get busy and they stop and then I sit down and my first thought is of Mavis and the tears come back.

JENNY, I'm so sorry about Michele.  She is still on our prayer list at church and that is at least 200 prayers every Sunday.  And mine are daily!  I can't imagine having that kind of thing happening to one of my next generation family.  And all the others in Bob's family who have suffered the losses and the pain of this horrible disease.  I understand why you couldn't bring yourself to put all that down in writing.  May God be with you and all your family!

SHIRLEY, I remember that incident with Andy's leg and I think I might hav been tempted to take croquet mallet to that "other" doctor's head!  He should have been doing EVERYTHING possible to determine the cause of Andy's pain.

I was in the middle of reading about the siege of the Capitol building when Mavis's son called me this morning.  When I heard his voice, I prayed for good news but no such luck.  Bad luck comes in threes.  Isn't that what they say?  Well, this day brought a lot more than 3.  I pray for a better day tomorrow for everyone!  What more can we do?

I'm feeling drained tonight and figure probably all the rest of you are as well. There was a saying that June posted that always comes to mind at times like this.... but not on this computer. Maybe one of you still remember, something like, "Give your worries to God, He will be watching all night". I'll try to find it on the old computer, would be most fitting for tonight. God Bless and watch over each of you.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's still COLD here!  I thought someone around here said the temps were going into the low 40s this week?  No way!!!!

Last night my Maryland daughter, Christy, called me and we talked extensively about Mavis.  At the end of the conversation she said, "it sounds like your remembering all the good things you did together.  That's nice!"  And it was nice.  Then I came in here and that's exactly what all of you were advising me to do.  It really does help!

I sure did get a lot of stuff done yesterday!  Every time the tears came, I found something to do!  That seems to be how I cope.  And I guess that's good!

Cathy came over after work and we talked a while and then she helped me move the swing so I can get my car under the roof.  Now I'm ready for the next snowfall.  I had it moved to where I could get half way in but just couldn't navigate the rest of the way.

AMY and SHIRLEY, AMY is right about JUNE'S saying.  I was going to tell you the same thing.  She was a wise lady, wasn't she?

Today is Cooper day and I have a feeling Frankie won't be running late today.  She thinks I need him for a distraction so she'll make it no matter what!

Part of my "busy-ness" yesterday included 5 loads of laundry so I'm all caught up with that.  I also swiffered all the floors so I'm "Mrs. Clean"

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning every one itis a brr 19 now.Once again I turned the thermostat up will I warm up.

Started on the antibiotics yesterday, sure hope these will be the last of them. Enough for a week.

JANE  I am so sorry about Mavis lost her battle with the darn covid and pheumonia.

JENNY  sorry for Bob's cousins but goodness they should have had masks on. Prayers continue for Michele, she has been fighting that darn C for so many years or I should say too many years.

CALLIE  the dentist told me the root of the tooth she pulled our was very close to the sinus cavity or what ever it is, and that is why she prescribed the first antibiotics. With the hew xray she said there  is a tiny hole. I never had any sinus problem in my life and don't know much about it. My 3 were never bothered with it and I don't know if anyone in my family ever had sinus problems and I am the last of my family. There are days I get on the couch and just rest but some days I lay there and sleep for an hour or 2 and still sleep good most nights. YOU grouchy? Will never believe that.

SHIRLEY  these new anti biotics are stronger and to take every 6 hours the last ones I took every 8 hours, enough for a week and I know I have to take all of them. I already can talk again without it hurting. When I saw that riot at the Capitol I wondered how they all got in there, where were the security guards that are supposed to protect the capitol?
I heard on the news this morning tha t Trump has finally admitted defeat.

AMY  if I go out today I sure will have my geemagotchees on.

Time for breakfast my  tummy is  telling me so better feed it.
Have a good day and be safe.

This is one of those times when I just really don't know what to say.  So much pain and grief and just to say "I'm sorry" doesn't seem to be enough.  But, I am just so very sorry for all that is happening to many of you and to your families and friends to bring such sadness.  I'm thinking of each and every one of you and praying that each coming day will lighten your burden a little.

I'm sharing your pain, Gloria.  I hope the antibiotics begin to help you very quickly.  I had to make an emergency trip to the dentist yesterday, too.  I broke a molar and don't know how, or even when.  He took me in quickly and was able to fix it well enough that, hopefully, it will last as long as I will need it.  Today my mouth is quite sore but getting better.

Snow just to the west of us but a cold rain here.  They are saying that we could still get some snow tonight...perhaps.  Not a lot but down here it doesn't take much to cause a lot of problems.

I got up this morning with a prayer that my country would begin to heal today and now I add to that prayer that I hope my friends begin to heal as well.

Take care, All.

Even though the day is colder than what we have been having ,it is a beautiful sunny day. Managed to get in and out of the grocery store in good time. I like it that they open at 7 am for seniors and see the same ones in line, two friends were shopping, one for his Mom and the other for his house. Told them we have to quit meeting this way..

Have a huge pan of nuts and bolts in the oven cooking and that will be the extent of my cooking till supper time.

Good morning from the Interior, where we're still sliding around zero. The monthly forecast shows none of those deep freezes January was known for, and I suspect it's going to be a crazy winter to go with last summer's wet weather.

That holiday Covid surge predicted has hit, and our numbers are going up again. I hope things will get better as more people are vaccinated. They changed tiers, so those 65 and over are being vaccinated now instead of waiting for the next round; in other words, nothing new here.

I've been doing all the big jobs and keeping those in line but having trouble keeping all the little things done. I don't need a housekeeper as much as I need a drill sergeant!  ::)

Oh, in other words "Chex Mix".  I love that stuff.  Thanks for the clarification of Long Johns.  I have several tops (thermal), but no bottoms.  I noticed when my hubby was alive, that when you washed the bottoms, they tended to shrink up more than the shirts.  So, we threw all those in the charity collections bin.  Now, Amy, you can send a large container of those Nuts and Bolts directly to me, and I guarantee that
I will tr-EAT them well! LOL

I love the conversation about the "geemagotchies" and the "nuts and bolts in the oven"!  It made m laugh for the first time in a couple of days.

I brought the paper in this morning and the front page was devoted to one of my high school teachers who had been an aviator in WWII and in his retirement wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper about local veterans and how they met the challenges of WWII and it aftermatn.  He was 103 and still sharp as a tack and still writing the column.  He died on Thursday early morning.  Then the obituaries had a write up on the passing of one of my classmates.  He was a very educated farmer and had a degree from Penn State in Animal Sciences. And a masters from another PA Univ. (I forget which) in the same thing.  That makes three.  My grandmother used to say good/bad things come in threes.  I hope that's it.

I feel better today and I know they are all in a better place and like most of you, I pray for an end to the disease nd upheaval in our country.  How much longer can it go on?  I'm happy to hear that Trump has conceded but I'm afraid he hasn't given up!

Amy, honestly - you wouldn't have that much to do....right now.  Housecleaner was here yesterday and I haven't had time to mess anything up today (yet!).

That's because I have spent a lovely 6 hours with Miss Ellen!!!!  Hadn't been able to see her since she came home on Dec. 16th and she's flying back to NYC on Monday.  It would have been fine to see her along with the rest of the family but I am SO grateful we had this one-on-one time together.

She took me to a "maintenance" podiatrist appointment and then we brought home lunch from our favorite place (Chicken Salad Chick).  We had wonderful conversations about all sorts of subjects.
Sounds as if she's going back to a fine situation.  She/two roomies were planning to find another apartment and they had found one.  They sent her a "walk-through" video and it looks like a great place. Of course, I've already looked the address up on Google maps and the area looks like a really nice one, too.  Plus-her job at a Loft clothing store is waiting for her - as is her Nanny job.

I have several recipes for the kind of mix Amy and Tome are talking about - including one that has M&Ms.  Don't dare make that one or any of the others with just me here.  I'd be nibbling 24-7!!

Think I'll go get the mail and then crash.  I'm "talked out"  (and, if you believe that - as the old saying goes - I have a Bridge for sale.... ;D )

well most if not all you ladies already know, but I did not so I am going to post it any. well store bought apples are coated with wax. you can peal them and waste the good Vietnams in the peas, or you can wash them In warm water with one table spoon of baking powder and one table spoon of lemon juice in it and take a bottle brush and scrub the wax all off. and make them healthier. good Night and sweet dreams.

LLOYD, I buy my apples at the Mennonite store and they have no wax on them.  All of their food is grown naturally and most of it is grown locally when possible.  That's why I love that store.

Now I'm off to the haystack!  There's an extra body in the haystack tonight.  Frankie had to be to work at 6 a.m. tomorrow so Cooper is spending the night.  It just seemed to make sense.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning everyone. JaneS we Have a local orchard (Peterson's) and in season we can and do buy appeals and peaches there. but they sell and ship out, do not keep  enough in local storage for year around. now this brings memory's back. that year I got my Jaw broke we went up there and they were sold out, they told us about a new orchard close to them. we went over there and the Leidy said the did not any good peaches left, what the had left was not even good seconds. I told her let us see, she said ok but I really do not want to sell them to you. she had eighteen bushels. I said to I do not have much money cash on me but let me buy what you think is fair for what money I have. I do not reamer how much cash I had in my pocket, but I got it out and she took it and I loaded all them up was around 18 bushels. we came home and picked out all of the worst ones. we canned them all night and into the next day. we went to the local store and got all the sugar they had. we caned several 100 quarts. My mouth was wired shut, jaw was broke could not open it.
My aunt had a blinder and the cutter head will screw right on a quart jar. so we bored it and parried them, I sucked them though a straw, and I gained weight. and I still like peaches. Have a good day and a better tomorrow.

WOW!!  LLOYD!  That was a great deal!  A lot of work but a great deal!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept pretty well for about half the night and then I slept off and on the rest of the night.  It wasn't Cooper's fault.  He was a good boy!  It was just one of those nights.

Don't know what's on tap today but I'm sure something will come up that needs doing.  I have a new recipe that I want to try but I can't do that until after my personal shopper comes back from the store.  There are two things in it that she's picking up for me.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Lloyd, enjoyed reading your peach story. My,that was a lot of work canning all the good peaches.

Jane, hope you found some room in the haystack. Dogs seem to get first dibs.

Good morning everyone, my right eye is a bit blurry this morning, not as bad as  the las t time but  hard reading. Hope everyone is fine and dandy, as for me I am going to lay on the couch, turn the TV on and close my eyes and listen to it. If the film goes away will try to get back later.

Have a good day and be safe.

My gosh!  No one was here since 8 this morning!  I hope everyone is having such a fantastic day they just didn't have time to come by.

I got my groceries but I didn't try the recipe.  I was so busy today that I just didn't even think about it.  My daughter, Cathy and her husband got a new TV that can stream (whatever that means) and since their old was was still good, they passed it on to me.  I have a HUGE TV in my living room now and I'm putting my old one in my guest room.  I don't know if anyone will ever watch it there but no one else needs one.  Cathy and Craig brought it here together and then Cathy stayed and did the change over with her brother available on the other end of the line to answer questions.

After Cathy left, I did some clean up in the kitchen and took a short nap.  Then the doggies and I took a walk and got back just in time for Cooper to hop in his Mom's car to go home.

I really don't know what happened to the rest of the day!

GLORIA, I sure hope you're feeling better.  You said you might be back but you haven't been.  I hope you just got busy!

AMY, I liked the higher temps too.  Ours aren't as low as yours but it was only 19 when I got up this morning.

I don't know if I'll be back before I head for the haystack.  Just in case I'm not, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, pain-free, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I've stopped in half a dozen times but kept thinking I'd have more time later to comment. Here it is, bedtime & I never did find that "more time" and need to get my shower over with in hopes of a visit to church "sometime" during the day tomorrow. I've not been going to any services because the entrance is always so full of people.

I am being super careful & cautious about anyone sneezing or coughing "beyond" their masks. Can't change the fact that germs could sneak past those masks ... and with my allergies I do sneeze & need to blow my nose so understand & try to keep MY distance. I know I am not alone with this sadness of longing for life as we knew it a year ago. Longest year I can remember because even during WWII we could hang onto each other for comfort. A big hug to everyone here, God Bless, my thoughts are with you.

Gloria, hope the antibiotic has kicked in & blurry gone from your eyes tonight. Sweet dreams and wishes for a Super Sunday for all. Shirley

Good night, Janie, I'll turn out the lights. I just realized that I didn't eat supper, had a late lunch & still not hungry. Peanut butter on Ritz crackers will do me for the night.

A day of rest here..may sew.......may not.......will know better what was done by tonight.

Jane. nice, enjoy your new tv. Bet you also enjoyed having Cathy and her hubby over too.

Gloria, hope your eye is much better this morning.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I conked out last night as soon as my head touched the pillow.  I slept soundly for almost 5 hours and then made a quick trip to the "outhouse" and back to bed.  I didn't wake up until Mickie started roaming and I got up to lift her down.  I don't like her jumping since she hurt her leg.  When I looked at the clock, it was 7;10.  Since Cooper was supposed to be coming at 7:30 we got ready, just in time for a message from Frankie that she was running late and Cooper wouldn't be coming.

Now we have the day to ourselves and I think I'm going to try a new recipe that I got off the internet the other day.  I have a couple of new recipes from a dear friend that I want to try, too but I can't do that until after I make my weekly trip to Davy's.

GLORIA, I hope your "pains in the head" are all gone today and you are back to normal!  Blurry eyes and a sore mouth are the worst.

SHIRLEY, your eating habits are atrocious.  And I know that for a fact because I'm speaking from experience.  Some day's you have decent meals and some days you don't.  I sounds very familiar to me!  Living alone is not conducive to good eating habits!

Our boinger just went off and it's time for Mickie's breakfast.  In about 10 seconds, she'll let me know that.  So I'm off to the kitchen.

I wish you all a good day....better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

I had my first Covid vaccine yesterday and no side effect.  All is good. There were about 6 or 8 nurses administrating it in different rooms, two others nurses directing the "traffic" on where to go .
In and out in 10 minutes! I just had to wait another 15 minutes in a big waiting room after it to be sure I was OK and I was back home in less than an hour.   My 2nd dose is on the 30th. As soon as the 1st one is given, the second is labelled and kept in reserve.
I am in awe on how well it was organized.

Good morning everyone, never got back yest erday. Got my son to pu t drops in my eyes. He was worse than me when I  try to do it. He was afraid he would hur t me and go t more on my face  than in my eyes. My eye started clearing up a li ttle af ter that but still blurry. When he lef t I laid on t he couch with the T V on and listened to it and fell asleep for 3 hours. Took awhile to get to sleep last night and woke after 9 this morning. Eye is clear now. Glad that does not happen often.

JANE  yes terday flew by for me, slep t 3 hours out of it, do you think that  is why it flew? Enjoy that bigger TV. Mike-oldest son told me to leave the old heavy floor model one behind, it was old but still ran good. I knew we did not have enough room to take it and it sure was heavy. After every thing was in here and everyone left I looked around and thought of all I had to do with the unpacking. I felt like crying. Mike came back a little later with a new bigger TV and set it up. Of course it was not hooked up to cable yet. He did help me get furniture where it belonged and stacked the boxes up in the rooms they would be unpacked to. Then Shirley-Mike's wife and my second "daughter".came here after she got out of work, she brought a set of new sheets and made up the bed.  I never call Shirl my daughter in-law, always my second daughter. I sure appreciated that. Then she left  and came back with pizza and some soda.

SHIRLEY  I guess the antibiotic kicked in because I can talk again without the pain. When I eat I still try to keep the food on the other side of my mouth so nothing gets into the holes from the ones thwt are now gone. They feel like they are all healedd and must still be the hole in the sinuswall or what ever it is. I am still having a half container of yogurt for the probiotics in it. Don't want to mess up my tummy, too.

AMY  do you have pully likes or the ones you reach from the ground? How about a sheet wrapped around a pully line when on the second foor? By the time I got that sheet un tangled I had some nice soft rags. Aft er that I wouls hang t he shets ccloser to the house so they were easier to get into the window.

JANE  I am another one who does not eat right except I do have a good breakfast with the oatmeal and sried fruit in it. I cannot even s tand  to fry an egg. If TV dinners didn't have so many preservatives I would stock up on those.

I do have some food in the freezer that Yvette and I together made and froze. The vegetable soup we did last week and some shepherds pie and some apple crisp we made a few months ago. Maybe af ter this mess with my mouth is cleared up and I get replacement teeth I will be able  to chew and bite into food again and not  have mmainly soft food. Oh I forgo t I s till have some spaghetti sauce I made last fall with tomatoes I got from both sons.

BUBBLE  good  to know somene who got  the vaccine. When they get here it will be in t he community room on the ground floor. Been on and off in my thoughts of getting it because I did not know anyone who had gone through it . Thanks for letting us know.

A good Sunday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

IT snowed and was dreary all day yesterday, but the sun just came out and my attitude is getting better every minute now. 🌞

We put away all of our Christmas decorations yesterday and boy does the house look bare😥 I missed not having the soft lights last night but it is good to have this task done for another year.

GLORIA, I do hope the antibiotics will have you feeling much better very soon.  When I had my wisdom teeth out I got a "dry socket" and man was that painful.  I had to go in everyday and have it repacked with gauze.  I am not fond of dental work, not that any of us are, and I am sorry you have had so much pain.

SHIRLEY, I do not want to read ever again about you feeling guilty for surviving this darn virus.  You are one of the people I love to share their story about.....you hung in there and beat this darn thing!

AMY, I looked at your recipe for Nuts and Bolts and it is very similar to what my family has made for years, but we called it Tidbits.  I love the stuff, but no longer make it as there is not enough help to get it eaten and we sure do not need to be eating it...I do miss it as it is so darn tasty and addicting!

I wish to thank you ALL for your kind words and continued support and prayers.  You all mean the world to me....it is so comforting to know that we have special friends that care about us and are willing to support is everyday.  Thank you SO MUCH💗

HAPPY HAPPY news, BUBBLE.  SO glad you have had your first vaccine.  There is a LOT of talk on the TV about those of us 70 and above are going to get our vaccine soon...but thus far, no sign of when or where we will go to get it.

CALLIE, always happy to read that you spent some one on one time with Miss Ellen.  Sounds like she is well set up in NYC when she returns.  Hope the rest of the family are all feeling much better now.

I talked to my brother yesterday and he is leaving tomorrow to drive to Arizona to visit my Dad.  Oh how I wish I could go with him😘. I talk to my Dad everyday and he seems to be holding his own.  Now I will get a good insight of how he is really doing after my brother reports in.  His voice is strong and he never complains about anything and always thanks me for calling and keeping in touch with him.  Sure love and miss my daddy❣️

JANE, how exciting that you have a new to you large screen TV. I know you will enjoy it for a good long time.

Interruptions....I am going to post this before I loose it.

Have a wonderful day.

Jenny

The state announced in late December that all those 65 and over would be receiving the vaccine starting January 11th, so that is good news here. Yesterday we had fifty new cases in the city and one local death, a man in his thirties.

Just here for a few minutes

Not feeling much better.  The medicine can take a week or more  to kick in.  And I need it now !

I go back to the doctor on Friday and I see the heart doctor on Thursday.  Sure hope I feel better by then.  I am totally exhausted.  No appetite.

Thank you all for your well wishes.

And a BIG thanks to Jane for getting in touch with me.

I will check back when I feel up to it.

I'm about ready for the haystack but I had to check on my friends.

BUBBLE thanks for posting about the vaccine.  I've been having doubts also about it.  I have had some bad reactions to the flu vaccines and have avoided most of the the offered ones.  This year, I had a flu shot for the first time in about 15 years because when I had them before, I got very sick with the flu.  My wonderful dr. convinced me that there had bee lots of changes over those 15 years and I took a chance....no reaction.  But I'm happy to be able to know someone personally who had  a COVID shot.  I'll be less nervous.

JENNY, you sound better today than yesterday.  It sure would be nice to go with your brother to visit your dad but hearing from him first hand will be the next best thing.

GLORIA, it sounds like you are also on the mend.  Keep up the good work.

I had a couple of bad hours today.  I couldn't figure out why my vision seemed so bad while I was trying to read the paper and when I stood up I understood immediately.  I got the eye vision that told me I was having a migraine headache.  It was early enough that 2 Alleve took care of it in about an hour and it didn't really get a hold on me.  Thank goodness for that.

JOY, nice to see you dropping by.  We do miss you when your not around.

Now, where's PHYLLIS?

Now I'm going to hit the hay.  I hear the zzzzs calling my name and they're beginning to get very insistent!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Okay, I'll turn out the lights again tonight. Been a busy day with son over to check out my printers... yes, some old ones that need to be replaced by one that works! Then he took on the gadgets he & his wife gave me for Christmas.... the WYZE set up that works like Alexa only it's Google. Has a camera from inside that shows my front porch, walk & driveway. I can yell, "Hey Google" to have it turn on a light, play music or any number of things (If I can remember how & what to tell it)....Life was so simple before all these electronic things I'm struggling to learn how to operate~~I am brain weary...Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. Good morning

I see our temps are going back up for this week,  it is 28° at the moment. Good grief Charlie Brown, we just got a robo call!!! I wish there was a way to stop all this.
If weather plays nice we are going to my sisters just to drop off some masks for them. Will phone her when we are close and tell her to check the door as I will hang the bag there for her. Then we will come back though country road and enjoy the scenery.

Jane, glad you found out what was going wrong and corrected it. Either today or Tue we will find out if there is going to be curfew set. I don't know how one gets people to listen or take this seriously but something has to be done.

Patricia, I have no idea of when we will get the vaccine but we will take it. Just hope Kyle can also have it, will clear this with our GP and see what he says.

Joy, as Jane said so nice to see you. You can get through this, think of all the rough times you have come through and no doubt with flying colours too.

Gloria, I have a line strung from the house to the far wood shed. I don't doubt your sheets were cleaning cloths when you had to unwind them!! What a job even at the best of times.

Shirley, if we had one of those Alexa/WYZE , Kyle would think I was talking to myself.... again . :))

Time to get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

SHIRLEY, Thanks for turning out the lights last night.  I came by earlier and turned them back on and put on the coffee and tea and hid some cookies in the Hidey Hole.

SHIRLEY, if I had all that voice control stuff around here, I'd go crazy.  I talk aloud to Mickie all the time and I'd surely be saying something like I wonder if I unlocked the door for Frankie and it would lock Frankie out.

This will be short because the boinger already went off and I'm in the middle of making doggie food so I can feed Miss Mickie.  Have to find something for my breakfast too.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

It is a cloudy morning with more rain coming this afternoon.  I understand, a little bit, about your struggle, Joy.  It is so hard to find anything to be positive about but you will make it, I am certain.  It takes a while for the meds to kick in and sometimes you have to try different ones.  Please don't give up.

Thanks, Bubble, for telling us about your vaccination experience.  I have tried to make an appointment (they won't accept walk-ins yet) but no availability at this time.  The over-75 population in our county alone is nearly 60,000 so it will take awhile.  I'll keep trying.  Meanwhile, I am still isolating but wearing a mask and social distancing if I do have to go out and washing, washing, washing my hands.

I'm doing as much cooking as I can and reading until my eyes blur.  On advice of my eye doctor, I use Systane eye drops every day and they do help but my eyes get tired just like yours, Gloria.  I think the dry heated air makes it worse.  I'm trying very hard to stay away from the news since it is so alarming but I have always felt it was important to be informed.

Take care, All.

Good morning everyone, a cool day but seasonal and a gray morning. Had a sunny week end so canno t complain.

JENNY  no more pain and I can talk, will be happy  to get to the end of the antibiotics. Don't like taking so many of them.

PATRICIA  goodness that was young to die from the covid. Here we only hear about the elderly.

JOY  hope the meds kick in soon.

JANE  I feel like you about the vaccine but hearing about getting it-someone I know makes me feel better about it. I never had a migraine but when I was working got tension headaches that made me take a day off.

SHIRLEY  you should do what I do. When my grandson first set up my son's old PC  I had him write in a note pad what I needed to know, had him do that with everything new. Works for me. Now tha the is married and a dad and working at home on salary-on call 24/7 he does not have much time. I have a new iPhone and it is all impossible  to me. Most of my family have dropped landlines and use their smar t phones for every thing.

AMY  supposed to get to 38  today, still no sun showing yet here. I never pick up my phone it I don't know the name or number, let the machine get it and not surprised when they just hang up. I loved t he pulley line bu ton a windy day with sheets and t he wind picked up I was no t happy but that  time it really wrapped around the bo th lines so much I was ready to leave them  there but  had other things on the ot her side of the sheets, like my youngs ters sleepers, the ones with the feet  on them.

JANE OH Boy, cookies for breakfast dessert. That will be a lit tle different, thanks.

PHYLLIS  I s till have an eye cup and for me it is easier using that than  trying to open my eye to ge t a drop in it .

Have a good day everyone and s tay safe for covid-19.

Another sunny day, although not as warm as I would have liked it to be.

We just finished watching our relatives funeral service live on our cousins Face Book Page.  Originally we were told there would be cremation and a memorial service at a later date, then the details of the service and burial came out.  These days one just never knows what to expect.

JANE, I luckily have never had or been around anyone that has migraines, so was surprised that you could tell that ne was coming on and was able to take something to avoid it happening.  That is wonderful news.

JOY, it is good to see your post but I am sorry that you are not feeling too well. I hope you will get your meds that are needed and that you start to feel much better very soon.

GLORIA, happy you are doing better....that is wonderful news.

PHYLLIS, Bob and I both suffer from dry eyes also and use Systane.  It helps some, but does not seem to last that long.  Some eye drops are just like water....no help at all. The dark and dreary days are ones that bother me the most....so hope your rain came and went and left you with a bright and sun shinning day!

I am sorry for all the sadness in the world.  It seems everyday we hear of some one else dying, having cancer or getting Covid.  Bob's Sister in Florida is having surgery tomorrow and another friends wife is as well.  The friends wife has been trying to get help for a couple of months with a very rare form of bladder cancer. Tomorrow they open her up and if the cancer is only in the bladder they will do what they can but if it has moved somewhere else they will just sew her back up.  No matter how bad our troubles seem to be there is someone that is much worse off😩😥

AMY, I do hope you find out about getting your vaccine also and I hope Kyle will be able to get it as well.

PATRICIA, seems we are hearing more younger ones dying from Covid now too.  We are doing our best to find out how and where we can go to get our vaccine.....so far, not much luck.  Hope you can get yours soon.

Big football game to watch here tonight....hope my hubby enjoys it...I will do my best to ignor it with out being rude😘

Take care EVERYFRIEND.

Jenny

JENNY, you don't know how lucky I feel to be able to ward off a migraine headache!  I used to suffer through about 8 or more of them in a year and the only thing to do was take a pill and go to bed.  Sometimes it took most of the day.  But one day I realized that my eyesight was getting bad and I had a "design" that I could actually draw on paper.  I also had a dr. appt. the next day.  I took the drawing with me and explained what had happened and that it led to a migraine.  As luck would have it, my dr. had just attended a seminar on migraines aa few days before and she knew what needed to be done.  I've been doing that ever since and it works!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I hear the zzzzs coming down the hall to get me.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, get-well, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Saying good morning..

Have a grocery list from my friend that will be picked up when we go into town for 7 am. A quick in and out getting her items and home. Expecting a call from the specialist this morning around 10 so will stick close to the phone.

Jenny, we haven't hear a word on it.......hopefully soon though.

Gloria, eating yogurt helps when taking antibiotics.

Phyllis , the news is so depressing that you want to turn off but look anyway.

Lloyd, how are you and Nancy doing?

Got to cut this short, can't show up in my night clothes to shop. (although I think some do)

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone. Yvette did not make it yesterday, had car trouble so not much done for a back massage with Hemvana. Hope she is here today, I sure miss her when she is not here. Another gray morning here, guess that is normal at this time of year but wish there was some snow on the ground to make it brighter.

JENNY  no one could get me to watch a football or baseball game. Last time I watched a hockey game was in the Olympics when the US team beat the Russian team. Rather watch a good movie.

JANE  odd you were talking about your migranes and on TV they were talking about using Botox for them. Don't think I would like Botox for anything.

AMY  firs t time I wwent into stores with my daughter in San Diego I was shocked at the way some were dressed. Took awhile but even going to church seeing the way some dressed I was so shocked, no respect for our  Lord.

We were told here that when the vaccine is ready we will get the shots right in here down in the community room, I like that, we get the flu shots here, too. One thing nice about living in senior housing.

LLOYD  a smile is much better than a frown on a face.

I must be here early this morning, not many around and no Shirley either.

Have a good day and s tay healthy.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 21º here right now and it was below 20 overnight.  That's brrrrrr cold for this area.

LLOYD, I don't know any way to draw a picture and post it here but I'll think about that.  I could just mail it to you.  All I need to do is take 2 Alleve and I can nip them in the bud.  It's been working for me for about 5 years now.

It's almost time for the boinger so I'll have to cut this one short.  But I wanted to tell you all that having worked 28 years at WalMart, I've seen lots of people shopping in their night clothes but the one that took the cake fro me was the lady in red and blue flannel pajamas weare a green unbuttoned sweater over them and green fuzzy flip flop slipper on her feet.  She obviously had nothing on under the pajamas and she was a very LARGE lady!

There goes the boinger!  If Annie was still here, I wouldn't be able to hold off for even a minute but Mickie can't hear it.  We're getting Cooper again this morning and I'm not dressed yet so I better get this day started.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning, nothing new here, we're still skirting zero, and there are few cars on the roads. My morning call, text, and message each day is the only link to my local friends. When this is over, and the major lockdown eased, everyone has been talking about one big blowout party that will have us all comatose for days after.

I know more cars are in the outlying areas where the malls and stores are. The ethnic groceries are all closed, and only the mall groceries, Safeway, the one Walmart, and the two Kroger Fred Meyers open for necessities and groceries. For a city of 100,000 souls, you'd think there would be more crowds, but everything is locked up or gone away.

They started giving shots for those sixty-five and over yesterday, but I've yet to make an appointment. I don't know where, other than clinics or health centers, where they'll administer the vaccines. I know the hospital is out as they're slammed with the virus. There is so little information given out locally, and since all my news is computer generated, I don't know that much on local news.

Good Evening Everyone!

The weather here on the rocky coast of
Maine has been very milk compared to
past Winters.

Of course,  I spend most of my time
indoors, watching tv, and planning my
grocery orders to put into my local
grocery so that Kelly can pick it up and
delivery it to me (usually on Wednesday
around noon) .. trying to build up a
supply of food so that if someone gets
sick in the family, they can stay away
from me... until I get my Covid shot...
Being 77 I should be getting it pretty soon
as they are moving up  who gets the shots...

Hopefully these shots will prevent me
from get the Covid Virus... then the rest
of the family can start to relax a bit.

I am really proud of my kids and Grand kids
for trying to stay safe... by washing their hands and
wearing their masks..

I have been using all this free time
to clear out my back room and make it
into my bedroom, instead of a store
room as it  has been for years.

It took me a long time to get things
straightened out enough to be able
to make it a nice comfortable warmer
room for me.

My living room
(where I use to sleep)  is still being
used as my office space and has a
comfortable roll away bed for any
one else who might need it.

Never know when that might come
in handy ..  One of my grand
daughters is in nursing school,
right down the street...

My eyes are glued to the tv
because of the horror of all the
carnage going on in DC plus
all that is planned  during the
next week until President Biden
and VP Harris take their office..

Between Covid and the Transfer
of Power going on,  and the
insurrection by  criminals terrorizing.
I am very anxious of what the next
couple of weeks will be...

Moving my Bed to the back bedroom
makes me feel safe now,  because
my front room is right on the corner
of two main streets in Portland.

My bedroom is now a good place for me
to hide if things get rough.
Only one small window,  not
three gigantic ones (each being
4 feet by  9 feet...  (lots of
glass)

Bless everyone and stay safe and if
you can,  stay Covid free!

Everybody's been saying they've passed their medical at the doctors, and that they're feeling pretty good, but golly, nobody's been posting anything really.  I can understand busy, but we have a need for updates.  We tend to miss folks that don't show up regularly.  LOL. So,Jane, Gloria, Patricia, Lloyd, and all those we haven't heard from lately (I know a lot of you posted yesterday), stand up tall and call out "here" or "present".  Or, like my daughter texts me "K", for okay. Can't have anyone going AWOL here at Seniors&Friends.  :missyou:

TOMEREADER, I posted at 8 o'clock this morning and that's since your last post.  How could you have missed me?

SANDY, nice to see you're doing well.  Isn't it nice to have our daughter's bring the groceries.  Mine asks for my list whenever she's planning to go to the store.  I email it to her and then she drops stuff off on her way home.

Today was a good day.  I got a lot done and I don't feel worn out.  I was going to make a trip to Davy's (the Mennonite store) but Cooper didn't come over to sit with Mickie while I was gone so I did other stuff.

It's really hard to see Mavis's house out my windows and every time I walk the dogs.  I really miss her!  It's going to be a while before I can shake this feeling but I'm really trying to remember all the good times we had.  I talked with her son today and he said they are getting notes and phone calls from lots of people that she has been friends with through her church and her work and he is amazed and how many there are!

I'm heading for the haystack now and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free, get-well tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning.
We did get a bit of snow last evening but I don't think it is enough to worry about. Will know better come light.

We need to "do" everything today because tomorrow state of emergency starts....again. One can only be out for food, med and Dr appointments. We do have a full pantry here so no worry there.

Today is make and deliver bread to our neighbour .Clean cupboards is on the list but will see how it goes.

Sandy, I think getting the shots will be the turn around on this virus. According to the news last night we should all have ours by Sept. To be honest that is not soon enough for me.

Gloria, hope Yvette made it and you did get a good back rub.

Shirley, hope you are doing ok.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

TOMEREADER  heard on news that they now want  to get those going to the Olympics the shots so they would be safe to go. So far my family here and me a re OK but my daughter and SIL live in Arizona and he was in the hospital for almost a week wi th the covid, home now and doing much better.

LLOYD  hope you and Nancy both slept  good last night, I sure did.

AMY  yes Yvette made i t yes terday and wen t to market for me and put things away and I got my back massage with the Hempvana pain cream. That stuff has worked miracles for my back. Today is laundry day.

To be honest, I don't remember if I posted yesterday or not & too much to do this morning to go back. My eye exam was disappointing (to say the least). The new lady optometrist thought my eyes too cloudy & unstable to make new glasses without first having an eye surgeon exam. I had with me the 'script from last year that I wore for a week & when that was over, couldn't see out of them again. Must have shocked my eyes enough they changed completely. At any rate, she did give me a name of a surgeon that hopefully will not insist on prescribing the med I'm allergic to. A must do if I want to keep driving. I've actually heard about so many that were disappointed in the results and I had always heard "it was a piece of cake". So has taken over my brain/thinking for the moment.

Lloyd, my vision isn't THAT kind of problem. I can read & thread a needle without glasses but it is distance I have a problem with as well as "astigmatism" & whatever else "they" keep messing with. Guess if it isn't one thing it will be another! It is 54 degrees & supposed to go to 57, the sun is shining, I want to run away from home!!!

Going to make a batch of spaghetti & pig out! Found a nice looking head of lettuce and big-big slicing tomato yesterday so will have salad with it. Will chop up a red onion & put half in the spaghetti sauce & other half in the salad, along with fresh garlic & maybe a whole loaf of bread. How about some honey cured bacon cooked & crumbled over the salad??? Okay, gotta get busy.

Gloria, so far the knee doesn't appreciate the HempVana so I'm guessing it hurts because I do something every day or night that aggravates it. I like to FIX problems and not working today! So far I've been to 2 of the Sam's Club stores & they didn't have MY fav drinking water so will call before going to another. My dues are up in Feb so if I can't get what I want I will not renew .... I am angry today & willing to take on anyone that crosses me! :knuppel2:

Well this wasn't a very busy place today!  Everyone must have been busy at home trying to catch up.

SHIRLEY,  I heard from a friend that we should beging to hoard drinking water because it's going to become scarce and the tap water isn't going to be fit to drink.  I'm not sure how she knows that or where it came from and I didn't put much stock in it until you said some of the stores were out of certain bottled water.

I got a lot done today but it doesn't really show.  One of the things I did was buy an acorn squash at Davy's and cook it for supper.  It was sooooo good!  And good for me!

Yesterday, Cathy brought me a container of home made ham potpie for my supper.  Now that is NOT any kind of "pie".  It's a German dish made with ham, potatoes, ham juice and a dough made with flour, eggs and water and rolled out and cut in squares.  It's so good and a special in our house at this time of year....or any time of year for that matter.  It was one of my German grandfather's specials.

I hear the zzzzzs coming down the hall after me.  I'm really tired and ready to conk out.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

It is late, but I want to at least say HELLO.

NOTHING new here.  At least that means nothing bad to report.

My brother made it safely to AZ.  He sent a picture of my Dad today and he looks about the same as he did when we saw him last.  I sent it to all of my sons and they all appreciated seeing him and were happy about how he looks.  I hope to talk to my brother soon to see what he has to say.

SHIRLEY, I am sorry your eyes are not doing well and I hope you can see the surgeon soon. I know you had to be disappointed.  Your meal plans sounded good....I hope you enjoyed it!

GLORIA, happy Yvette made it and you got your back rub. Glad that your health care provider thinks you are doing OK and can wait for a July appointment.

JANE, the ham pot pie your Cathy made for you sounds yummy. Hope you have a great night of rest.

AMY, I feel the same regarding the Covid Vaccine.  Let's get em going so we can all get through this. Our governor says 70 and above will all be vaccinated by the end of February.  I want to believe it...but?

Pleasant dreams to all,

Jenny

Good morning..

Overcast and 26° here..warm!

I slept in guess yesterday is telling on me. Managed to get the bread done and more laundry. We took 5 loaves over to the neighbour, 3 raisin and 2 white.

Today is pick up meds, pay bill and continue on with the purging.

Shirley, we also had a spaghetti dinner, thanks to our friends. They gave us 2 big trays of it and we still have lots leftover. Maybe they have a new med out now that your body will accept??

Jenny, that will take a bit of the worry off when you can see your Dad, even though it is just a photo.

Gloria, Yvette is a blessing to you! And so in that cream.

Better get a move on here...

Take care and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm getting on the computer for the first time this morning.  First, the newspaper took my attention.  What is this country coming to?  We need to pull together to get rid of this horrible virus, not be at odds with one another over someone whose mouth is too big for the rest of his body...including his brain.  I'm sorry if that offends anyone but it's true!

We, the doggies and I have had a nice walk this morning and they are both sleeping now.  I've finished reading the paper including doing the word jumble and the crossword puzzle (my all time favorite thing to do with my "spare" time is word games.

I also do a lot of "shopping" on line.  I don't buy much but I look a lot!

I guess I better get busy pretty soon or nothing will get done around here today.  I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Am on a dead run because I rolled over & went back to sleep this morning. Have a printer "out for delivery" and if it gets here early enough Andy will come by & install. It will print from anywhere in the house the computer is, even the oldest computer. It is different from the kind I've always had so have to get my head organized for thinking!

Had a message from Jackie this morning, I asked if she minded if I passed it on to y'all but did not wait for her permission ... She has 2 serious tests to go through soon, to determine what stage her MS is at, so extra prayers that the results bring hope in some way, that she can find a way to cope with the illness. So often just a little encouragement can make it easier to fight on. Covid certainly has made it harder for all of us to keep our spirits up.

Picked up the meds and now to cook up chicken for the dogs.. Paid bills over the phone , miss going in and chatting with the ladies but it is what it is.  I see one of the stores has cauliflower on sale and I am so tempted to get some and make up the recipe that son sent. Oh boy is it good!!

While out I picked up some baskets so the "stuff" under the kitchen sink can be organized better.

Birds are eating as if it is their last meal, I know we are to get rain/freezing rain and maybe they know the food will be under ice. Better go put more out for them.

I know that I should talk

Good morning every  one, boy did I wake LATE this morning. After 10:30 and I went  to bed a t 10 last night. This will be short as I want to get dressed befor noon when Yvette gets here.

I had not heard anything here about bottled water. The part of town I live in has artesion wells and the water is good.  Only a few in this building drink the bottled water and they are the ones that never lived in town before. Thanks to Yvette I think I have a years supply of paper towels and TP and detergen t for laundry and dishes. She uses coupons a lot and wait s for sales  to use them. She has a room in her house that  must look like a storeroom.

Sorry I did not pos tmore but have to rsh and get dressed for the day or I will still be in nitey and robe when she gets here
Have a good day and with God's help stay safe.

Good morning, I just woke up after one of those out of the blue sleepless nights, didn't go down until just after five. It's only 8:49 now. Absolutely nothing new here other than posting my PSP; thank you, Tome, for your appreciation, by the way. My arthritis, which is affected by the barometric pressure, has gone back into hiding, and my morning call around has finished. So, another usual morning.

I was absolutely shocked that the commander of the Army yesterday felt the need to remind the soldiers of their oath, but this has been building since the Branch Davidians and the Murray building, and people seem to forget that other than some external features or religions, we're all the same underneath with all the same emotions and needs. No one has more or less than the person next to them. Sometimes I want to yell out "Get it together, people!"

Patricia, yelling get it together to those that don't realize they have lost it will fall on deaf ears. But you go ahead and yell and  many of us will be right behind you on that.

Chicken is all cooked and ready to be bagged for the dogs once it has cooled.

That job of cleaning under the sink is now in the rear view mirror and now onto the next one.

Kyle now has three more trugs built for orders and I do have a wee job for him if my order comes in.

Spent time with the post office, over the internet, that was interesting but really please with the outcome.

Now, Babe and I have a date, her nails need to be clipped, a job neither one of us likes...me for bending over and her
 just because..

The last post in here was 8 hours ago!  Do you believe it!  We must all be busy right up the gazoo!

I spent most of the day doing things that didn't show and now I'm ready for the haystack.  Cooper is spending the night with us and I hope he sleeps quietly.  He usually does but sometimes he doesn't.  Frankie was tired when she got off work today and she has to go in very early tomorrow.  It's easier for all of us if he just spends the night.

Tomorrow, I might go on a very short shopping trip to just one store to buy just one item.  It's on sale and I have a coupon for an extra 15% off.  It's almost too good to pass up.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy, healthy, germ-free tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!
