Once and for all
 the idea of glorious victories
won by the glorious army
 must be wiped out
Neither side is glorious
On either side they're just frightened men messing their pants
and they all want the same thing
Not to lie under the earth
 but to walk upon it
 without crutches.

My papa

Everyday my papa would work
To try to make ends meet
To see that we would eat
Keep those shoes upon my feet

Every night my papa would take me
And tuck me in my bed
Kiss me on my head
After all my prayers were said

And there were years
Of sadness and of tears
Through it all
Together we were strong

We were strong
Times were rough
But Papa he was tough
Mama stood beside him all along

Growing up with them was easy
The time had flew on by
The years began to fly
They aged and so did I

And I could tell
That mama she wasn't well
Papa knew and deep down so did she
So did she

When she died
Papa broke down and he cried
And all he could say was, "God, why her? Take me!"
Everyday he sat there sleeping in a rocking chair

He never went upstairs
Because she wasn't there
Then one day my Papa said,
"Son, I'm proud of how you've grown"

He said, "Go out and make it on your own.
Don't worry. I'm O.K. alone."
He said, "There are things that you must do"
He said, "There's places you must see"

And his eyes were sad
As he said goodbye to me
Every time I kiss my children
Papa's words ring true

He said, "Children live through you.
Let them grow! They'll leave you, too"
I remember every word Papa used to say
I kiss my kids and pray

That they'll think of me
Oh how I pray
They will think of me
That way
Someday

Good morning..

Looking to be a nice day up until this afternoon and then it is storms.

Lots to do outside so that is where I shall start then work inside. This will be done after visiting SIL for her birthday .

Jane, good to hear from you and want to hear more of your time there.

Bubble, thank you for the new start page. You always pick out great poems and photos to start with.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm up and daughter Cindy is up  and putting in her day at her job.  She'll be finished around noon and then we'll be going out and doing some sigtseeing.  Yesterday, we went to a HUGE antique and specialty place.  I'm not into buying antiques but I did see two specialties that I plan to get before I go home.  One was locally made cinnamon honey and the other was a local specialty coffee.  I havent decided what flavor I'll get yet but when I run out I'll try one of them and then start on a decision.

SHIRLEY, don't wish us into winter yet!  I'm going to enjoy my visit here and then I have to go home and make vegetable soup, can tomatoes, make spaghetti sauce, tomato sauce and paste and get ready for the BAD weather.  And speaking of weather, I haven't minded the heat here yet but I do mind the A/C!  I didn't grow up with A/C and I guess I'm just not used to it.  But yesterday, I found and cache of stored sweaters in the closet in the room I'm occupying and I plan to make use of them!  Cindy also has a swing out in the yard under a nice shade tree that I make good use of.

Now I'm going to go find some breakfast!  We brought along a LOT of eggs from Christy's chickens so that might be an idea!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning everyone, boy I sure know Yvette is back, my fridge is full again. She is the only one I would give $50 to and know what she spends it on. Every day when she gets here she has at least one grocery bag with her. Better enjoy it while I can before she get the other knee done. Should be in a few weeks when she knows. If she gets it done before the end of August she will not have to pay another $4,000 deductible before the insurance takes over. The insurance that company supplies the CNA's is not great.

RICK  love your flag.  I do love seeing our flag flying on the few days people decide to put them up. 4 years ago yesterday we had a big birthday party, a lady was celebrating her 100th special day.

JANE  glad you can now move around after that long trip in the car.

SHIRLEY  I will worry about all my family till I take my last breath. I think it started the day my first one was born. I wanted the impossible-to keep them close all the time. I did know that would never happen.

BUBBLE  great graphic of that old man.  PAPA could go along with the old man above. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  for a week or more the weather guesser has been predicting thunder storms but most nights we never even had a drop of rain then a few nights ago the other end of the state had one and lightening started a few fires.

JANE  I think none of us here grew up with AC or even a fan but I don't think I would survive a summer without an AC. Heat and the humidity really get to me. Shirley and I both prefer winter.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Before we had air conditioners it was OK to leave windows and possibly doors open - even at night. --- Not today! Remember those Transoms above doors, and high ceilings? Hot air rose and hopefully followed those transoms and out.

And I still sleep with my sliding door by the bed opened (if it is cooler outside than in)... But anyone getting near the house has to get over 2 fences & I have bright lights that cover the pool area (whole back of the house). I feel safe.

The wind is bending the trees all directions again today, even sucked off 2 of the half open hibiscus blooms & so many leaves it looks bare. The pool water is down about an inch from yesterday, if it doesn't rain the next 24 hours I'll have to add water to the pool to keep it up enough the skimmer basket can filter the water/leaves.

Got a text from Andy while ago, sitting in the Salida, CO. McDonald's having coffee & bite to eat before heading up the mountain. He spent a few hours sleeping in the Walmart parking lot in Canon City, CO. He likes to get into the cooler air before he stops to rest.

Today is my father's birthday, born in 1898. Bubble, he fit the Papa role, was miserable the 5 years he lived after Mother died. Dad never more a mustache and always wore a hat or cap. By the time I came along he just had a rim of hair left on his head. He was one unique human.

So true, Rammel.  We lived on a hill in the countryside.  The original house was built with windows placed so there was a good cross breeze in each room.  An attic fan for the bedroom area was put in when we remodeled the interior. Not only did we keep the windows up...we also left the bedroom doors open.  I can remember pulling up a blanket because my room got so cool during the night.

Also remember when my Aunt was visiting and I was awakened by my Dad, my Mother and my Aunt all snoring - each in a different rhythm and on a different pitch.  Surprised my giggles didn't wake them!!!

Shirley,  going back to our posts just before Bubble changed the page...    You, Jane and I had mentioned getting together when she was first planning her visit.  Probably too soon to even discuss doing so.  Let's see how this weird summer goes.

Need to get some chicken in the slow cooker so I can make a casserole for "dinner date" with son tonight.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, Everyfriend.

This has been a fun day, had a great visit with SIL, then home to a message would I look after Rex :smitten: YES! As it was  the rain stopped my fun ,neighbour was home ,he can't cut grass in the rain :(
Worked about to have a knock on the door and the neighbour from the back line came in. I would dearly love for him and Floyd to get together. They both know hard work, honesty, and can roll with the punches. Both love animals ,especially horses and both grew up on a farm. I think the pair would keep one entertained for a month of Sundays.

Better get more sewing done..

FYI.... Computer had update that wants me to go along with everything Microsoft thinks I need to do & I don't know how to get out of their demands so hope my youngest son will have a second to fix it as he buzzes thru tomorrow to pick up a few things before he heads to CO for the week. I'm on the iPad & limited to what I know how to do on it. My biggest problem is all my passwords are on a WordPad that I can't get to because I never printed it, was always going to put the important info on a separate WordPad to print. "Going to" didn't happen & now I am in big trouble. I sure don't want to dump computer, iPad & phone all into one but not smart enough to get past MS. If you don't hear from me just know I'm stuck in this Microsoft Mess & may be waiting for a week or so before sons can pull me out. Don't know how to enlarge the print or anything on the pad.  :knuppel2:

I wish you all a great day..better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning everyone. I think something is wrong with the local weather on this PC this morning. 66° now and the high to be 69. Does not sound right to me, what do you think?
Heard noise outside and I went to the window to see what it was. Someone else moving out. Don't know who but it set me to thinking how many were here when I moved in. Out of 53 apartments there is 8 or 9 here longer than me and I have been here 8 years now.

SHIRLEY  I use Google as my browser and every thing I can. I do not like Microsoft telling me what and how to do this or that.

BUBBLE  I had not heard about Dr. Fauci having Covid. Not the first time I read about it is from you across the ocean in Israel. He is another of those--do as I say not an I do--people.

LLOYD  we had bright sun but now the sky is gray again.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning from another hazy windless Interior. We're still at our low of 55 presently but will head on to 80 later. Nothing is happening here besides a small grocery trip and re-notifying maintenance of an ongoing issue with my lower kitchen bar cabinet.

Got the computer working.... nothing like a "hard shutdown" to show who's boss! Took a while to get back on but no more tangles with Microsoft today.

Callie & Amy, no e-mails from either. Have had my cell, iPad & all phones following me around in case Andy gets a signal out from the campground. He finally called while ago, had a text from his wife that their son is driving out when he gets off work on Friday so he made a trip to town for groceries,  he will probably show up hungry. He will pick up a tent from Dad's house before heading out. Fun time for all.

Gloria, I've been using Google since it came out & hate to be bullied into using one I don't want.... do not like changes.

Amy, hope no damage for you.... I go into "whatiffermode" with those warnings & ready for the worst.

Jane & Callie, we will see how the days roll around & do what we can, right?  No guarantees on weather or anything. I love to go for drives but usually only places I am familiar with. Hey, much better since cataract surgery & I can read the street signs! :D

Termite inspector checked the house out, no sign of any. 100° in the shade & humid.

And that's how my day went. Sweet dreams to all and God Bless.

We did get a fast and furious storm the night before  though.

Working outside until the heat shoves me back inside.

Need to bake some  butter tarts for a friend  either today or tomorrow,  will see.

Working on tablet so will keep this short.

Good Morning Everyfriend from Oklahoma!  I'm loving my visit with my girls!  Cathy left yesterday for Houston to have a visit with her daughter and SIL before going home on Tue.  Kind of wish I could have seen them, too.

We've been doing some sightseeing while the girls were here and the while the little kids are on vacation.  Yesterday we went to the aquarium and it was really neat.  We got some good pictures.  U think granddaughter Ali and family are coming home on Saturday!  Then things will start popping around here!!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

My sleep was a little messed up last night as well. Have a liver scan that requires no food OR water for 6-8 hours before and time was changed to after noon so I set the alarm for 4:00am to get up & have a hard boiled egg & piece of toast with time to spare. I planned to go back to bed but got to thinking all I wanted to get done & stayed up.

I picked a big bowl of the mixed lettuce & spinach to send out to CO with youngest son, he said he'd stop by this afternoon to pick up. Picked a lot, first let it soak covered in water in the sink, didn't see a single bug but I washed each leaf off & put it in a 2 gallon Ziploc bag & is crisping in the frig. Next to turn some hard boiled eggs into deviled for that son to eat on his drive west in the morning. I'm pretending I am joining them, but doubt I do, still debating.

So far things not going well, turned the sprinklers on, yard getting dry from all the wind and pool needs water added, so like to get the sand out of the system before pumping into the pool. OOPS! Sprinklers barely lifting & not sure how to fix it. Can be a problem. Since I got up so early my head is fuzzy so will do whatever chores I can & try not to think about FOOD! The day will be what the day will be. I did a quick check of weather at the campground (Mr.Princeton National Forest) & temps sound wonderfully cool. May head that motorhome west after all, no, not on a week end~~~ Thinking about it is fun, though.......... Wishing all a happy day!

Ah, you checked in, Jane, sounds like you are enjoying your time!

Good morning everyone. Rain in the forecast with thunder thrown in this time. Rain Sunday, too. Not nice for a Father's day.

SHIRLEY  I dislike being told what to do. If Microsoft wants to take over my computer they better buy a new one for me. I was under the idea that since I paid for this one it belongs to me, not them.

AMY  I stay inside when it gets hot and just sitting in the shade is way to hot for me.

LLOYD  like you I did not sleep good last night either, fell asleep after 3am and woke at 7am. I am one who needs at least 7 hours sleep.

JANE  hope you are sleeping good every night. Glad you are not staying home and glad you are site seeing

Have a good day and stay safe.

For all of us who get angry with our computers, just read yesterday that Microsoft is doing away with their Internet Explorer, and switching it automatically to their "Edge". I had already put Edge on my taskbar quite awhile back, not knowing that IE was going to get its "last rites". The experts say that IE was vulnerable to various viruses (aren't we all) and that it was way past its prime (aren't we all? And that includes my "computer".  Need a new one, but can't afford right now, especially with the inflation going on, food, gasoline, utilities taking giant sized bites out of our pocketbooks (you never see that word much anymore)!

Gloria, Microsoft is pre-installed on almost every computer that is sold.  If you don't like it you can always go with Linux as an Operating System.  But, I never could understand it even though it is supposed to be more secure.  Tom was dabbling with Linux but never got a chance to go very far with it when he became ill.  If you are talking about Browsers there are maybe several you could install.  I have 4 browsers installed on this computer but since Tomereader says they are phasing out IE I'll lose that one.  Hardly ever use it, anyway.  Almost always use Chrome or Edge and sometimes Firefox, even though it can irritate me.

Very hot here all this week and supposed to hit 99 deg. today.  With the high humidity it will feel like 105!  The AC is running and I have all the blinds closed and ceiling fans going.  And, I don't plan to go outside for any reason.  David still takes his afternoon walk.  He always did like hot weather and tolerates it better than I do.  I worry that he will become dehydrated in this extreme heat but it doesn't seem to bother him.  Cold weather is what bothers him.

Take care. All.

The day has been interesting ..so far I have not thrown the computer out the window...so far. Ended up calling  our provider (who is in the Philippines) and she told me it was a Microsoft problem. She gave me the number to call and I listened to the recording.if you need help......go online.. :knuppel2:  :idiot2:  If I could have gone online there would be no problem. Phoned my techie, he had me do many things and don't ask what as I was just the finger runner. He fixed it!! Turned out Microsoft had goofed my computer and when I told him that I was using Edge he said get rid of it!! I am now using Chrome..

High winds but no rain..not sure what the evening will bring. I did  batten down the hatches...again..

Gloria, it is a nice 69° at the moment and breezey. Don't mind this one bit.

Patricia, how true that is!!

Phyllis, hope David takes water with him on his walks. Nice to see you in here..

Jane, I would imagine many memories are being made there. Enjoy your time away..

Shirley, why is it when we are to fast, we want to eat like a horse and time goes so slow??

Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for June15 , 2022
Post by: Shirley on June 17, 2022, 10:47:53 PM
Phyllis, my youngest son also prefers heat to cold & the oldest is like me & my father, we melt. My husband didn't like heat but hated cold so would play golf in 110 degree weather. During summer he declared he "rendered". 69° is about perfect for me. When it cools down at night I am able to cope with the higher temps during the day, but this week waking up to 80+ is miserable.

Amy, I know my problem started with an update from Microsoft & after I got mad & gave it the "hard shut down" it had had another update & no more bullying. I couldn't get into any of the settings (or online), infurating & I was so angry.

Doesn't help my mood that the sprinklers or well won't work so I can't add water to the pool except the expensive city water. That really hurts but have to keep it at a level it can run. Also plants are in need, this wind has nearly killed my pot of petunias & hibiscus. Those lush green leaves & blooms are gone, petunias look dead!  Poor hibiscus has hardly any leaves & the blooms are popping off before they get a chance to fully open. Ah, such is life~~~

Going to get ready for bed... been a super long day. Sweet dreams & God Bless.

Good morning..

Too early to tell if there was any damage to the area from the high winds. I know it would bring a lot of widow makers down, including those from the last storm.

Kyle , is making flower boxes for around the verandah so a trip to the lumber yard is in store this morning. Laundry will be next then making some baking needs to be done.

Shirley, that is also when my problem started  so no more Edge for me! I am amazed at how well this is working now!!

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Well, Amy, I just had a scare.... first check of computer just now & that little thingy that goes around when something isn't working.... it kept going & going & popped up a message that "Chrome isn't working"... but I let it twirl a few more times & it caught. Microsoft is NOT a very good looser!

Oops, phone call from daughter-in-law, son (Andy) mentioned to her this morning from his nice cool campground in CO, that I couldn't get the sand filter loose on the well/sprinklerls so maybe she could see if she could. Because we had so much rain for a couple weeks the sprinklers weren't needed so the algae builds up & stops the water from going thru enough to get pressure up and I'm over my head...h :-\  .... she'll be here in a little while so I'd better get a move on.

Good Morning, Everyone!  Well, you snuck in, Lloyd. I do love family gatherings, glad yours had a chance to gather and nice it wasn't for a funeral.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've read all the messages and thought about answers and immediately forgot the answers.  So just know that I'm here and I'm thinking of all of you!

And speaking of the weather, this is the only place I've ever been that I wear a sweater inside and take it off when I go out!  I'm not a big fan of AC and it's a necessity in Oklahoma!  My daughter has some very comfortable furniture out on the back porch and a nice swing under a tree in the yard!  So I'm comfortable.

My granddaughter and her family will be home tonight sometime so I'm thinking we'll see them tomorrow!  I can't wait to see them all but I'm really looking forward to the little ones!

I better get moving today.  I don't know what the plan is but I'm IN!  Whatever they do, I do!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning everyone. Made up with the sleep I missed 2 nights ago Slept 9 hours last night and I do feel awake this morning. My son gets here a 10:30 every Saturday so will sign off or put this on hold while he is here.

PHYLLIS  I do know Microsoft is a monopoly in computers but they have weird ideas at times like buying a new PC and wanting and liking 10 they put 11 with it and sorry I do not want like or need all the games and things that are in 11. That is a gripe and also my grandson  for getting me a Dell. The company he works for uses only Dells so he is used to them but for his personal pc he has a Mac.  I use Google for all I do.

Well Bill has come and left for home already. I am ready for a nap. Lately I think my hobby is sleeping,

AMY  I always go to a window when family leaves here and wave to them when they walk to their cars. I did notice it is windy, trees really moving around.

Guess I will take the rest of my AM pills and lay on the couch and see if there is anything good on the tube. If not the sandman will be here.

Have a good day and stay safe.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY.

Good Brrr morning. First thought I had when I got out of a cozy warm bed was turning the heat up but that is impossible with the heating system shut down till the fall. I have my winter robe on and a throw wrapped around my legs. It is raining and damp on top of the 45°. Feels more like it should be snowing than raining. Gee I think I still have a pair of Geemagotchees that weren't put away for the summer. Maybe they would warm my legs up.

JANE  enjoy those little ones, they do grow so fast. I don't see my great-grandson often and every time I do he seems to grow so fast and get older and smarter every time.  The other 2 grandsons from my grandson that died and the widow cut the family off the oldest one is about 17 now and the younger one 15. They were not even in school when he died.

AMY  will not be capris today but jeans and knee sox, maybe  a day to lay on the couch all bundled up and watching the tube?  Microsoft wants to do an install and so does Dell and I will have to talk to David before I do anything. I don't like either one but if I want to stay online I need both.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, it rained during the night and those old aches and pains clued me in before I even looked out a window. It's only going to reach 70 today with brief scattered showers. I plan on settling in with my computer, Tylenol, and coffee close by for the day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Has anyone ever caught a cold from A/C?  I did!  I thought it was just my usual runny nose from my eye drops until my voice changed too.  Now I know for sure it's a cold!  Just in time to greet the little ones on their return from vacation!  Dash-blast-it!

I'm going to go back outside and get warm!  Have a great day Everyfriend!

Jane, my father was of the same opinion as you when it came to A/C... and I do recall all the warnings of having it too cold & contrast from in to out. With the heat we've had this summer I have become a mole & stay inside as much as possible. Today's chore of changing the well system from sprinklers in the yard to the pipe that goes to the pool is keeping me in hiding, takes quite a bit of outside work & I'm not up to it yet. Hope you get over the cold fast, nothing worse that feeling bad when away from home.  :-[

Gloria, I can't imagine anyone thinking they have the right to deprive a kid from it's grandmother!  I think anyone that marries into this family understands WE HAVE KID RIGHTS and would have lawyers & judges talking to them.  Hopefully they will grow up and realize what they are missing and come find you.

Lloyd, I spend way too much time watching the birds, right now have a nest of brown thrushes in the holly bush by a triple window on south end of master bedroom. Hardest working birds I ever saw. I've talked to a pair down by the river all thru the years, one of them would give me a whistle when I go down & I'd answer back, then another whistle & sounds like a smacking good kiss & I've learned to make the sound back. Probably the same pair that moved to the holly bush because I haven't been down as much this year. They sure do a lot of bug hunting for those babies!

Patricia, both boys & a gr-son are in CO this morning... all in different vehicles but got to the little town where they buy groceries before going up the mountain last night. Oldest son went down to get 'em organized & called as they started up to the campground to say they really had to hustle to get the tent & canopy up before dark... they could all sleep in Andy's camper if it got too cold & was raining.... but didn't want to have to do that. Each of the boys have the all season tents & the air mattresses but hope nobody tents if too awful cold. Have not heard from them today. The cold would not be a problem for me, besides, a king size bed we can cook meals inside & room for all. I should be there.  :'(

Amy, my computer is set on auto-updates so will let it do what it thinks it must and let the world scream when MS oversteps it's rights. I do think they thought they could bully us into using Edge & got too much flack.

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers, gr-fathers & all the women that helped make them fathers & gr-fathers!  May all your memories be happy ones!

Shirley, the paternal side of my family, is in Missouri, basically Joplin and Lamar.

The maternal side of the family is in Salinas, Kansas but mostly in Colorado, either outside Ouray or outside Montrose, farming. So that is the only area of both states I was familiar with from the late fifties and through the mid-sixties. During my marriages, we were either in Texas or the south or on the east or the west coast. So all my info is dated.

One item about computers I need to clarify. Other than Apple's Mac, or Linux, the main operating system is Microsoft. Internet Explorer, Edge, Chrome, and Firefox are all browsers that operate on Microsoft's system.

Good morning...

Starting off cool but will that will soon change. Loons echoing calls as he flew over the house was my wake up call this morning.

Have a return to make in town, deliver a quilt then home to plant in the new planer boxes Kyle made.  We did try  to go out for a meal but every place was packed tight......so maybe today.

There are more updates to be made on the  computer but not till I talk with my computer fellow. So far everything is working just fine.

Jane, hope you feel better soon.Remember what we were told, drink lots of fluids.

Lloyd ,  lots of remembering at the gettogether for you and Nancy.

Better scoot.....day is getting along.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, World! Tiger insisted I get up before 6:00am, she woke me up earlier but I pretended to go back to sleep. I have a litter box in that bedroom since she is so afraid of all other people & runs to hide when the doorbell rings. Not crazy about having a litter box in my bedroom but better there than forget to check it every day in one of the other rooms, in case it gets used. She used it this morning & think she knew it would get me out of bed, she is one conniving cat.

It says 75° on the computer but 74 on the radio so the AC isn't running just now & it feels stuffy in here. Wind blowing tree limbs in circles already so this is going to be a LONG summer. At least I got the pool water up to where it should be, vac the bottom & puttered around putting stuff away. Need to run the sprinklers but so windy already it's hard telling where the moisture will end up.

Gloria, my daughter got me a "fake" down cover for the motorhome a few years ago & I love it so much I bought one for the bedroom. Usually a warm cover like my mother made (she would put one of the army wool blankets between quilted tops/bottoms) but they were so heavy is smashed the body down! These don't weigh anything & so cozy warm. My son got me one of those tower type electric heaters for the RV, I complained about how loud the furnace is & since I don't like the heat when sleeping the electric heater is great to have on when I get up in the morning, it even has remote control so I can warm up the kitchen area before getting up!

I know this is a Fed. holiday & no mail but not sure what else will be closed. The propane tank on the RV is less than 1/3 full so like it on full any time I want to run away from home.... when on the road or NOT in a campground that keeps the frig & freezer cold and also lets me boil a cup of water for instant coffee when I don't want to run the generator for the microwave. I really will be sorry to give this up but do not want it stored away from the house where I can't do the necessary maintenance all the time. I do plug it in one week a month and run the generator once a month to keep everything "oiled up" (wrong term, just mobile). Not sure the place I get propane filled will be open today, will call first.

Patricia, Lamar, MO is Harry Truman's birthplace, right?  I've never been there but have been to Independence where he & Bess lived. Seems to me quite a few "movie stars" came from the Joplin area.... was that where Festus came from <grin>?

Lloyd, I was looking down at the river, so many trees now I only see patches of water between trees and a flash of white or dark blue as those herons & egrets flip around to catch fish. I haven't been down a lot this spring, after seeing a tick crawl across some food I took down. I need to spray the boots I wear down, got some flea & tick spray for clothing supposed to stay on & not have to spray every time. The rabbits bring those critters back to the yard so not thrilled with that idea.

Amy, do you have a problem with fleas & ticks around there?  Most years we don't get a hard enough freeze long enough to kill off those icky bugs. I noticed we've got a bumper crop of "lightning bugs" this year so probably plenty others. The mud daubers are swarming all around the house & building their mud homes behind shutters & even in the outside track of sliding doors. Hard to spray them in the tracks, whether to stand outside with door closed & hope to run fast enough if they attack or stand inside & open the door just enough to get the the spray can out. Between foam not shooting far enough or wind blowing it back at my face, not a fun task!  ONWARD!

Good morning everyone. I laid on the couch with my robe on and the down  throw wrapped around me all day yesterday. Sure glad that was on a shelf in the closet. The sun is shining this morning and it is 60° now so no freezing today. It will take a few hours for the sun to start hitting this side of the building and getting it warm enough in here so I no longer have to wear layers like I do in winter. Ahh Mother Nature sure likes to surprise us.

SHIRLEY  I am thankful I see my youngest one and they do not deprive me from seeing him.  It is the one that my deceased grandson's 2 boys we do not know where they are. His widow sold the house he bought and who knows where she went.  OK this is 6/20 and you said it was a holiday and I am going crazy trying to find out what one it is bit can find nothing.

Better go get washed and dressed and hope my innards can stop shivering.
Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Sorry I didn't get a chance to check in last night.  My granddaughter and her family came over for supper and since my "office" is one end of the dining room table, I had to clear off and put everything away.  By the time they all left, I was tired just watching the "busy-ness" of Emma and Mikey!  So I never got it out until this morning!

GLORIA, I spent some time trying to find out what "Holiday" SHIRLEY was referring to also.  NO LUCK! I hope she fills us in.  I'm curious, too!

Today is my turn to cook!  I brought along some country smoked ham from PA that they all love and we're making pot pie....not a pie, the kind you roll out, cut and add to the broth.  Pennsylvania Dutch style and um-ummm gooooood!  Ali (granddaughter) and her family are joining us.  It will be interesting to find out what Ali's husband thinks of our PA dish!

SHIRLEY, you've sure been a busy beaver!  I hope you manage everything you have to do.  I think, if I had that spray job to do, I'd let the door open just enough to admit me, spray and scoot inside and close the door!

LLOYD, what a nice gathering you must have had!  Nice to have so many family members gather!  I bet you had a ball!

I'm going to go get busy and see what I can help with while Cindy is at her "office" out there is the family room!  She is able to concentrate better than I'd ever be able to do!  Her boss is right to trust her to work at home!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  God bless you all!

It is Juneteenth, a national holiday, and commemorates  June 19, 1866, and after the Emancipation Proclamation had been signed.  The  news reached Texas where the last slaves were freed.  All federal offices are closed, no postal delivery, and many businesses are closed, including banks and stock market, etc.

Good morning. The promised intermittent showers never showed yesterday but decided to come in force in the early morning and all day today. This will help with the 298 fires currently. While in a fire ecology, officials say the tundra fires are worse due to climate change. Some have even smoldered all winter deep in the moss. My poor arthritic bones are aching this morning as if I spent all night in a crab position!

Phyllis, while it's a nationally recognized holiday, not all states recognize or give time off for it.

Jane, I was wondering about the holiday as well. I'm glad that Phyllis cleared that up for us. I'm happy you're having a good time and a needed break.

Lloyd, you also have family time! My family scattered throughout the Midwest, and it's been decades since I've seen any, so thankfully, there's email and computers.

Shirley, I agree with Jane that you're joining Amy and Jane's busy times. :)

Truman and Ken Curtis were born in Larmar outside of Joplin. Did you know Curtis was a singer before going on to act? He was only a year older than my dad, and they knew each other in school but weren't close.

Luckily, our colder winters kill the fleas, ticks, and other pests, so we don't have them. I wonder if the northern tier states or Canada do? I had never heard of mud daubers. I never met any of those bugs in the years (1969-1981) we spent in the South; I don't know why.

I'm an odd one as I was always cold when I was younger, but not lately. I prefer to lay on a blanket rather than under it. Sometimes, I wake up under the blanket or find it on the floor.

Just North of NYC we have what we call mud wasps. I suspect they are the same as mud daubers. I have found one or two on occasion on the door of my car.  Not outside, but in the protected area at the jamb - which is sealed from the inside of the car.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe for June15 , 2022

According to DuckDuckGo, my search engine, mud daubers and mud wasps are the same except they're "included in different families and are variable in appearance." Looking at the photos, we don't have any locally. We are unlucky to have a type of wasp that nests on the ground and I have gotten stung more than once by inadvertently stepping on a nest.

Evidently, Alaska's wasp population has been increasing since 2009. I have no idea why other than they say warmer weather. From the Anchorage paper, " This year's wasp boom is part of a decade-long rise in stinging insect populations in Alaska documented by Demain and a Fairbanks entomologist named Derek Sikes. In 2009, the two, along with several other researchers, published a study showing a dramatic increase in the number of people seeking medical attention for stings.

Overall, the rate at which people sought treatment for stings rose by 48 percent over a decade.

In some areas like northern Alaska, defined in the study as between Barrow and Nome, the rate went up by more than 600 percent.

"They are seeing yellow jackets and wasps in places they've never seen them before," he said.

The researchers found that the increase was associated with higher overall winter temperatures that benefit queens, which have a higher chance of surviving the winter and are therefore more able to start a nest.

Last winter's record-breaking snowfall was also a boon for queens.

"If they have good insulation from the snow pack, you're going to have more queen survival," Demain said.

That all adds up to a bumper crop of wasps and a stinging -- and for some, potentially lethal -- summer and fall.

Not everyone has the same reaction to an insect sting, Demain said.

"As we get older, the risk of a fatal event goes up," he said.

Certain blood pressure drugs and beta blockers can increase the chance that a sting can be fatal, he said.

Demain said he hadn't heard of any fatalities caused by stings this summer, though they are commonly mistaken for other ailments like a heart attack.

Anchorage isn't the most wasp-prone area of the state, Demain said: Data shows that the Interior consistently reports the highest number of stings. The Kodiak Island region reports the highest number of stings by population.

Summer and fall are considered peak times for the stinging insects, he said. After a frost things should calm down. "

In the Interior, "People don't come to Denali and other parks in Alaska to look at bumblebees, but they should," says Jessica Rykken, entomologist for Denali National Park and Preserve. The "Last Frontier" state may be known for supersized wildlife, from bears to moose, but on a smaller scale, the diversity of bumblebees (or bumble bees, depending on whom you ask) there is unusually high, and powers entire ecosystems."

FYI, we've always lived among the wasps & all that even look like them... and I was told long ago to grab a box of baking soda, dump a little in the palm of my hand, add water to make a paste & spread over the sting. Only time I suggested the remedy it worked like a charm. I have a niece so allergic to wasp stings she carries an EpiPen, or did. We have so many around here I've become brave except when barefoot & get spooked when spraying & they drop to the ground, cause I think they can still sting.

Long phone call from my daughter, few laughs & giggles.  She caught a cold while visiting her daughter's family in Fall's Church so heading home in the morning. I've got to get out & do the chores intended for today, before it gets too dark~~~

Sweet dreams & God Bless. Yes, it was a holiday & I'm not sure how I feel about tossing out some of the old ones to be replaced by some new. I'm anti- changes so maybe just an old grouch?

I searched for -  "bug that hunts locusts"

Oh, yuck, Rick, that is one creature I hope never to run into!  I'm feeling super buggie right now having been out with the long extention loppers to cut branches hanging over where I want to extend the slide & awning for the RV tomorrow. Glad I didn't read your link before chopping down those limbs, they were dropping all over me & sure had bugs on them.  :o

Need to so some work on replacing those little spools that anchor the accordian shades at their bottom... why they install plastic that will crack in the sun/heat when the metal bobbins for sewing machines are exact size & holes in the right places... and just takes a 4 handed person to install but a dozen or more cost next to nothing from Walmart, a sewing shop (or Amazon). One more "to-do".

Patricia, we've had a nest of bumblebees near the yucca plants. The berm has two types of yucca plants, the native to Kansas that you see all over dry western KS, and another variety with wider leaves & much bigger plants & stalks of blooms. The native ones take over, can't kill them out. The bumblebees had a mimosa tree near that died years ago but one volunteer mimosa grew up in the front yard & is blooming right now. The bees are humming as they enjoy their meals. They don't treaten me like the wasps do.

No more bug stories before bedtime!  I will have nightmares! Bought some nice looking ears of corn at the store today, a wash & wrap in waxed paper, 2 min in the microwave & cut it off the cob & put chunks of butter to melt on the corn. It doesn't soak into the cob so you get to enjoy all that butter. Yum... Of course we know the corn is "genetically modified" because it doesn't have worms on it anymore... I prefer NO worms and going to put an ear in the microwave right now, here it is 10:00 pm & I am just now eating my supper. Bad ME.... See y'all tomorrow.

Gloria, wish I could send you my appetite!

Janie, you jumped in. I was that terrible kid that didn't want to try anything different. Could have lived on peanutbutter & jelly. Hope your head is better.

I found it! Imagine a bee as large as your little finger. It's called a Golden Northern Bumble Bee   https://www.insectidentification.org/insect-description.php?identification=Golden-Northern-Bumble-Bee

This site says we have mud daubers in the Interior, while the other site said we didn't. Whatever, but going through that list of everything we had here, most I didn't recognize was enough to make anyone skittish.

Goodmorning..

Rain overnight and a wee bit of a thiunder roll.

Patricia ,before I forget (happens often) is this the critter? Ok, I see you did find it..

https://www.fs.fed.us/wildflowers/pollinators/pollinator-of-the-month/hummingbird_moth.shtml

Toss up today...do I can mushrooms or can rhubarb juice??

Shielry there are both ticks and fleas about but so far we do not have either. We do get a hard freeze here but that doesn't seem to deter them. Drops or flea collars are avaiable  if need be. Speaking of bee.... the ones I hate are the ones that make a nest in the ground. You have no idea until you step on them and up they come!!

lloyd, we have one that has built a nest on top of a light fixture in the shed. So far no babies.

Jane, how is your cold?

Gloria, we had our furnace on for a bit th other day and today is that muggy I am sure the a/c will be put on.

Better get..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I slept pretty well last night until I got a dash-blasted cramp in my foot!  The only thing that eased it was getting up and walking around on it but as soon as I went back to bed it came back.  I looked it up and it said magnesium helps and Cindy noted that she has two bottles of that!  So at supper time today, I'll give that a try!

Right now, I think it's time to get in the shower and get dressed before someone comes by and catches me.  My cold is getting better a little at a time and I don't really feel bad with it any more!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

We would have had a huge party with sales, sporting games, fair rides, baseball, soccer, & golf games starting without lights at midnight and boat races, car races, 3-person endurance attempts, and international food fair.

However, after Covid, international tourists are missing and Eastern European tourism is all but gutted. To put the lid on it, commercialism has taken over and they had a small car show, street fair, and music acts on Saturday the 18th. That is four days prior to the Solstice but they got their advertising dollar!

Fun Fact, Barrow, our northernmost city has sixty-seven days of darkness before regaining daylight minute by minute each winter.   https://www.reference.com/geography/six-months-darkness-alaska-4dd677b2bf60e239

Good morning...

Going to be another blistering day today. The toss up was made and we now have 16 pints and 24 half pints on mushrooms canned. Today I will do another batch of Janies rhubarb juice.

Lloyd, your posts are not un interesting as you say. we enjoy reading them . I watched a swallow fly with a feather in its beak to put in their nest, dropped it, then its mate swooped in caught it and flew towards the nest. Almost there and the feather dropped again...gently heading back and forth to the ground, mate swooped in caught it and if finally made it to the nest. Guess that is what you call "feathering the nest". :)

Jane,I took Shirley's advice and bought some gatorade....keep a small bottle in the fridge and when needed take a small drink of it.

Patricia, we were up your way in June  in the 90's and I can remember how light out it was at 10:30 at night.

Gloria, hope all is well there.

Better go pull rhubarb.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I didn't get a chance to check out last night.  We were busy right up until bed time.  I hope you all had a good day.

Interesting chat about the the Summer Solstice in Alaska!  I've never experience that one but I can always tell when the days are getting longer or shorter around my area!

LLOYD, you're sure taking note of the birdies around you area!  They must be busy and close by!  It is fun to note what they do!

Christy will be heading for the airport today and taking her flight back home to Maryland!  We're all going to miss her!  She sure is busy!  I've not seen her sit still since she's been here unless she was knitting or driving a car!

Everyone seems to be active this morning!  I think I'll join them and she what's happenin'.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning, at least it is morning. Still cold and raining and the only time I feel warm is laying on the couch with a down throw around me and another throw over that. Thank goodness Yvette is here because I shiver every time I get off the couch. Thought I better get in here and at  least let  you know I have been thinking of all out Cyber Family.
Back to the couch till I have to get up and let Yvette in.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good morning, everyone; we're back to sunshine and warming after a couple of days of steady downpour. We dropped a couple of hundred fires through those days of drenching rain to only 331 fires currently.

Lloyd, I enjoy reading about your birds as in the city, we have only mew gulls, pigeons, and an occasional hawk. I can no longer get to and stroll along the riverbanks or go to the bird sanctuary and wander around with my camera. I miss that and enjoy your's and others' birdwatching.

Yesterday, the sun set after I went to sleep at two AM, or I should say this morning.

I have been missing for much too long, so today I will be playing catch up.

JANE, I am sorry you caught a cold, and I do hope you are feeling much better.

SHIRLEY, I know you are sad having your family here in Colorado without you😩😩

I seem to never have anything to say other than my health woes🤪🤪🤪

I did get the epidural in my lower spine yesterday and it went very will tell if it was successful.  I am hoping and praying it will.  I go for the other procedure on my groin area the 7th.

Bob has his tests all scheduled on the same day, the first of July to see if they can find a reason he went not A-FIB.  We just want all this crap behind us needless to say🤪🙏

The family are on their cruise in the Mediterranean and having a wonderful time.

We all thought of Our Michele on her one year date of her passing.  Still seems so surreal😢

I wish you all well.  I will go back and read your posts to see what
I missed.

Jenny

Hi Jenny!  I've missed seeing you on line and now I'm practically in your back yard!  I'm visiting my daughter in Jenks, Okla.  It's right outside of Tulsa.  I think if we whistle loud we might hear each other!  I'm glad to hear your getting you "ills" taken care of and I sure do hope the care is what you need to feel better.  I bet it's hard coming on the anniversary of losing Michele!  I hope you can all look on it as the special day that she went to a special place to wait for all of you to join her!

I may not get in to check out later so I'll say "Good night" now.  Christy is half way back to her home in Maryland.  The last we heard she waiting to get on a plane in St. Louis and then her next stop will be Baltimore where her hubby will meet her.  We missed her before she left Tulsa!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!  And may he look after ALL the travelers!

Checking in for the night. Have thunder & now some rain, been threatening all afternoon so I was afraid to get in the bathroom to trim my hair & been putting off doing that job for days, have to make sure we aren't going to have a power outage because none of the bathrooms in this house have any outside windows/light. It would be clean, hear loud thunder & check radar & sure enough, another pop up storm near Wichita.... almost no rain until just now.

I've been watching the kittens playing out front, they've been staying in a shelter/shed Cas created for 2 of his 3 riding mowers. Since I got rid of 2 & the other one has it's own little shed, so other stuff stored in that spot & it's nice & dry so the tiny little mama cat has been keeping her babies in there.  Not something I approve of but don't know what to do about it. I'm pretty sure she is the "kitten" Callie had been going out to visit at night, doesn't look big enough to have babies that are already half grown. She lays out there & lets them come out to play in the evening.... I can't get any of the neighbors interested in adopting them or helping get them to the Humane Society. I do not want another cat much less a mama with 5 babies (saw the 5th one today). Can't stand knowing they are hungry so making me awful sad. Humane Society doesn't try to find ferals a home, put to sleep same day they are brought in. I really could hate people that dump animals instead of being responsible. Humane Society told me years ago that "if you feed them we consider them yours & your responsibility to get rabies shots every year, etc".... so not just a matter of feeding them but if one scratched anyone it would be a big deal to go through the testing for rabies, etc. I'm not lookin' for trouble!

Jenny, my A-fib was caused by the leaky valve, I didn't know that until after the surgery, but was taking a 325 Bayer every 4 hours to keep it from rocking until I passed the Conceal Carry test and then to the surgery. A-Fib hit again in the hospital when I got upset because they kept moving me from area to area & my coat turned up missing & at that point the chest was pounding so hard it moved my whole body & Doc said he had to give me something for it... was a shot & then a pill... then turned me into a zoombie & set me back to worse than day after surgery.  Bottom line was A-fib was caused by the valve & lucky for me I managed to get beyond it without the meds & still doing what I need to keep truckin' ...........Hope Bob gets along as well. Then we need to fix you up.  I know you are one tough cookie so not sure why they can't figure out the pain. My latest scan of the liver showed it is enlarged but "normal" for me.... she laughed when she said that because I don't fit "the norm".... liver is doing what it's supposed to be doing so it's up to me to figure why I'm so short winded.

Jane, glad Christy is almost home safe & sound. Julie-Ellen got back to St.Louis last night with serious head issues, sinus problem & a bug she caught from her gr-daughter. They tested for Covid but knew it was allergies to start & infection set in, being over tired also contributed to the problem. Flying has been touch & go lately, bad as gas prices are, I'd rather be driving. Do hope you are feeling better by now.

Hugs to Nancy, Lloyd, and hope she gets better quick. Summer colds are bad, my daughter caller her doctor as soon as she go home for prescription for antibiotic.

I'm going to bed & plan to do what didn't get done tonight, do it tomorrow! Can't keep my eyes open. Have sliding door open with soft rain, cooler air & good sleeping weather. Hugs to all, God Bless.  Love y'all.  Shirley/Tisie

Good morning..

Love the cool mornings but know it won't stay that way long. Will label and put away Jane's Rhubarb juice , laundry and gardening after we get back from town.

Jenny, both you and Bob have had a long haul!! Time you get some quailty time out of life.

Shirley, I know what you mean. I wrote a letter to the paper asking people who had left little kittens at the road  what next.....your kids!! I was livid to find these little wet furballs  ,we had wolves, fox and goodness knows what else plus the highway to kill these kittens. I bundled them all up and took them to the humane society...back then they did take them.

Jane, if I am not careful I will have to grow more rhubarb!!I did start two other patches but being just new I don't want to take away too many stalks.

Better run.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I'm off to the showers and have to get dressed.  Cindy's on slow this morning.  I think she caught my cold but she won't admit it!

I read everything and I wish you all well and happy!  I'm off!

Good morning from a smoky Interior! The summer is destined to be fiery, with lows in the sixties and highs in the low eighties. Yesterday, I posted some blue skies and clouds in a line. Only four hours later, those blue skies and clouds disappeared, becoming a sea of white and dense smoke. Overnight it rained, and it's back to dense smoke again.

https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?msg=219797

Before climate change, we used to reach 104 in the summers, but we haven't seen that since about 2016. Of course, I haven't seen the winter woes of minus forties through minus sixties either, and not for weeks at a stretch. The coldest it seems to get is a day of minus thirty here and there. And a high of eighty-six, which appears to herald fires.

I've become a hermit, only venturing out when I have to or someone comes for me. My balance often goes sideways anymore.

Shirley, I found several cats rescue in Wichita besides the humane society. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=cat+rscues+in+Whicta+Kansas&atb=v330-4&ia=web Give them a call and save a life or two or three. I've been involved with Pet Pride, a national group, for the last twenty years as of this October.

Amy, Jane, we have rhubarb growing everywhere locally, but it gets dug up and trashed due to clearing lots or people not knowing what it is. I'd like to see more heat here without adverse weather reactions.

Good morning everyone, 58° nice it is above the 40's this am and I am not shivering for a change.

PHYLLIS  Juneteenth is a dumb word and for a holiday even more stupid made up word. Maybe I am the only one who feels that way but does that word really make sense?

SHIRLEY  from what you said about your mud daubers it sounds like what we call hornets. Around here they will start a nest is any crack they find. I had read years ago that you wait till evening when they are all in the nests for the night and spray into the opening and it kills them.  When I lived it the apartment at my son's house they built one outside a living room window, told him about it and I bought a new can of spray and that night he opened that window all the way up and I sprayed into the opening and in a few minutes we could see them dropping out and they were dead.

RICK  like you one morning I opened my drivers door and saw the beginning of a nest I knocked it out of the spot they picked  where when the door is open there is a space. They never went back to that spot again.

PATRICIA  Mike had to go through the orchard before harvest time to get the wasps/hornets out of the ground. He did not want any pickers to step on any or the kids get stung. They were a different color having white spots.

SHIRLEY  this state of Rhode Island is the only one that celebrates VJ day in August. They do not even put it on calendars anymore.

Took me hours to get back to this post. Yvette called to ask if she could start at 9:30 this morning, other client had an appointment at 9. She hurt herself and had to go to the VA hospital to get checked out. Since I was already awake she might come and that way I knew I could get a nap in this afternoon. Worked our good for me, slept over 2 hours and now will be awake for my daily Skype date with my daughter at 5PM Can have enough time to grab a snack so she will not hear the growling tummy.

SHIRLEY  oh no you do not want anymore cats. You have been tied down roo long with them now

AMY  was warmer here this morning and I stopped  shivering.

Have a good evening and I hope I can do better tomorrow.

Sleep good and stay safe.

For those of you who have been to Alaska and driven around, this video will be familiar to you. The couple is from Virginia and dreams of owning land and living off-grid. They purchased land in the Anchorage area, Southeast Alaska, where the climate is rain country, part of the Washington, Oregon rain country thermal climate. The area is usually warmer in the winter by 20 degrees and colder in the summer, averaging in the sixties. I wanted to show the differences between them and us. We are on the other side of those mountains, an eight-hour drive from the area shown.

Up too early but Tiger thought it was time. I'll get a nap later, had hoped to get some jobs done before too hot.... OOPS!  Too hot already!  I hate waking up to 80 degrees & humid.

Patricia, I've checked into some of those places that save cats & find as you dig deeper, they are more interested in donations, on-going donations. We were told that by having these "fixed" they would keep other strays/ferals away. I'm pretty sure it was Callie that brought this little cat (with 5 babies now) around, she had been wanting out at night & I would see the little black one sneeking off later. Now that Callie is gone it's "Katy, bar the door". Could be little mama wandered down the river from a shopping center half a mile away where a whole colony of cats live. Lady next door asked if I'd ever been there in the evening when people would bring bags of dry food for the cats, and sadly, that is not the cure, they need to be spay-neutered. We used to have lots of birds but the cats are winning, I think. We used to see so many baby ducks & geese but they aren't safe from the cats (and turtles). Nature is out of balance with our help! Thanks for searching for the links, seems we have way more cats than responsible humans that want to adopt.

Time to mow again, you'd think some young kid would be looking to earn money, but not these days. I bought a Toro battery powered mower as well as a Black & Decker weed whip/trimmer in hopes of finding someone I could count on to mow for me, but all the boys or girls big enough to walk behind a mower play various sports for summer & practice all the time. The going rate is $50 for a yard & the guys that bought big equipment are done in 20-30 minutes. They all drive big, shiny new trucks. Gripe-gripe...The last crew I hired showed up 4 days after the first mow & grass hadn't grown, he insisted he was working out his schedule. $100 in 4 days is a bit much when not a lot of grass!  So I better do my own mowing!

Gloria, we have mud dabbers, yellow jackets, hornets, wasps, honey bees & bumble bees & they build all kind of nests. I keep a can of spray by every door & like you said, when you hit them they fall dead like raining down. Not safe to be barefooted.

Well, kids, I have not had breakfast but would rather get more sleep only I know it will be HOT in another hour or so.  Movin' along.

Good morning..

We had a hic cup in the power during the night, now to reset the clocks.
I just read an article on the problem people are having with cotttages being rent out for short term. They are rented out to some, not all that have no respect for others around.Noise at all hours, garbage strewn about and then they leave and let the next  ones come in. The term being use is  the new invasive species.

Work around home today is about it..

Patricia, thank you for the video. I loved the mountains when we were there, breath taking they are!

Gloria, I am getting tired of this fry weather. Do you remember when I said I was gettin tired of this freezing weather??? Guess we are hard to please with weather.

Since the temp is 53° I am going to get some outside work done before it gets into the 80's..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I don't seem to be getting as much computer time here as I do at home!  I guess there's been a lot more to do with real time people since I came here.  This might be my only time to visit with all of you.

I've been interested in the kitties, Alaska, Gloria's time and everything else that comes up!  I was the 'chief cook and bottle washer" around here yesterday and I'm glad I was here to do that for Cindy because that cold hit hard!  She feels much better today but like me, the sniffles are hanging around!

My SIL went off to help granddaughter ALI with her flower growing.  Tomorrow "Saturday" is the Farmer's Market and she sells her flowers there.  Today will be her busy day!  Now I have to go get my breakfast and see that Cindy eats something too.

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Friday HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🦋 These days just keep passing me by 😩

Tonight might just be the night for Our Avalanche to take it all.  So excited. 🏒🏒. I hope and pray if this happens that the crazies don't let things get out of hand.  We can celebrate with out there having to be destruction‼️ I want them to cinch the Stanley Cup tonight, but then it is over and we will miss not having them to watch🤪🤪 What will be will be🏒🏒🏒GO AV'S 🏒🏒🏒

Unfortunately, Bob went back into A-FIB yesterday, but it stopped again last night.  Sure anxious to find out what is causing this😩🤪

PATRICIA, I sure enjoyed watching the family relocating to Alaska that you shared.  How exciting it was, however, at this stage in my life I would have a hard time being able to take on this BIG adventure🤪🤪🤪

Oh my, SHIRLEY.  THAT funny you shared is a good one.......makes my head hurt just thinking about it!

AMY, the power outages are such a pain, and getting all the clocks reset is quite the task. Thank goodness for the generators that many have now.

JANE, I hope you and Cindi can feel much better soon from that virus visitor‼️  Sure wish I could go to that Farmers Market and buy some of the beautiful flowers.

We have no big plans for the weekend but do hope to go up and see our new baby boy again next Thursday.

Have a great rest of your day.

Jenny, does Bob have any restrictions about taking 325mgBayer?  When I knew I was going to be stressed or "pushed" in thought or deed, one would take the edge off for me & my heart didn't fly off.  Many years ago the doctor gave me digitalis for a speedy heart... over 200 times a min... but after being on for a month I was charged up & eyes glowed so had to take myself off, little by little a week less at a time. But kept my heart from going wild until that A-fib 45 years later (that I didn't realize what it was, just that they had been watching the valve for years without telling me what it meant.) Can't you see me parked in front of the cardio doctor, "let's talk about this....."  :-\  I know you have better advice than mine from your family, but if a simple ole Bayer will take the edge off, can it do any harm????  I rest my case. <smile> The boys are packed up & will leave early in the morning, were down at the lodge eating & waiting for the rain to stop.

Hello Everyfriend!  It's been a busy day again.  Cindy got her work done, Jim put something together that Ali uses at the market for her flowers, I did a little cleaning and we all cooked and looked after the doggies.  And Cindy and I got in a little knitting time and she put in a days work on the computer.

Tomorrow, we're all going to the Farmer's Market.  I'm eager for that.  We have one of the best back home and I'm ready to make a comparison.  We're hoping to get some corn to cut off the cobs and put in Cindy's freezer.  It's that time!

The Hot Springs pics brought back some memories for me!  We were in them on a couple of our Girl Scout trips west back in the 70s and 80s.  Not the only time in my life but one of the best.  We did hot springs in Europe also.  I can still feel them!

I better get this finished and get myself off to bed because we have a very early start tomorrow.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us every one!  And may He look after all who need his care for ANY illness!

Good morning..

Lovely start to the day here, 56° with clear skies. Another day to get outside work done before it hit 90°.

we are going to take in a bake and yard sale at the church this morning then home to work.Once laundry is started I am going to plant beans in the boxes Kyle made. In the one at the front I put some wave petunias but will put beans in the other 4.

Jane, I would love to go to that market with you. Hope you can take some photos along the way.

Jenny, thankfully we didnt have to use the generator. Hope they find out the cause of Bob's AFib.

Shirley,  that joke was funny..

Callie 102°  :yikes:  that is not nice!! Do you get the humidity with this or is it a dry heat?

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone. I have read the last postings since I was here.
There were a lot of feral cats here when I moved in. The Maintenance mans wife volunteered  at the pound and got them to captured them  and fixed them and returned them when they healed. Do not see anymore now.

For several years doctors  prescribed those baby aspirin for seniors to help their hearts. I took them for 5 years and one day my doctor called me and said to stop taking them because they did nothing.  Maybe in a year or so they will  tell us to take  them again.

My son will be here soon and am not dressed yet. Oh well when he leaves I just might have an early nap-that could last till 5pm.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Morning,

Amy, yes, unfortunately, we do get humidity with the heat.  Oklahoma is divided into two climate zones.  The eastern part has more "mountains", timber, rivers, etc. and is more humid.  The western part leads into the High Plains and is flatter and drier.  I basically live on the dividing line so this area isn't quite as humid as where Jane is visiting but neither is it as dry as closer to the Texas Panhandle.

Jane, do you remember when I was on a tour of New England in 2003 and we spent a couple of nights in Hershey, PA?
Toni Aikens gathered a group from SeniorNet and picked me up to go eat lunch at a "special place".  I was expecting something Amish but it was a Texas Road House which had just opened as the first one in that area!  (I felt right at home.  ;D )
The picture I have shows Toni, Jean ?, HannaJo ?, Alice ?, Pat Scott and you.  I remember that Pat's husband was also there (probably took the picture) and gave me a ring he made out of a folded dollar bill.

We had also spent a night in Guelph, Ontario where Pat Scott and Judy McKenna came to the restaurant where we were having dinner and visited a while.
Friends on the tour were amazed that all these people so far from Oklahoma and I were acquainted but had never met.

I need to do a couple of errands before the peak heat sets in.

Hope each of you has a Satisfying Saturday  :) .

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We've been to the Farmer's Market, helped Ali get all set up and then did some shopping.  We came home with a bushel of corn to clean and freeze.  We also picked up some blackberries, Cinnamon buns, home made bread, peas, cookies something else, I forgot!  AMY, I didn't take any pictures but I will when we go over next week.  Ali does her flowers every week and I plan to be a regular.  We have to go back to help her close up but I'm pretty sure it won't be worth pics at that time.

CALLIE, I remember that visit with you when you made your trip.  Alice was there because she happened to be visiting me that week and was willing to travel a bit more.  I remember the rings made from dollar bills.  I got one, too!  That was a nice visit.

I have to go get started on the things "to-do" before we go back to pick up Ali and her stuff because Cindy says we're going to do some shopping on the way home.  She needs plastic bags to freeze the corn.  Boy is she going to have some good eats this winter!

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Only have time for one brief warning to Jenny and her Bob.  If the doctor prescribed Eliquis for the A-Fib, do NOT take aspirin, too.  He can take Tylenol for pain and maybe it will help calm the A-Fib but both aspirin and Eliquis are blood thinners and taking both could cause a hemorrhage. My cardiologist was very emphatic about that since I take Eliquis for A-Fib.

Also, many things can cause A-Fib.  If Bob tends to stress about things easily he should TRY to keep himself calm.  Stress and worry make heart problems worse, generally.  I am the world's #1 worrier so I speak from some experience.   :(

Take care, All.

Good morning; gray and smoky out there at our low of 56. Yesterday I had to close the door at eleven because it was beginning to smell like a campfire by a lake. Alaska is currently tracking 346 fires in Alaska (active, smoldering, or in the process of being demobilized). If you look on the fire map, you can barely see the F in our name for the fire markers. Every time we have a little summer heat, this happens. There are also fires again in Europe; all indications are that this will only get more constant and severe.

Glad you brought that up, Phyllis.... I tried Plavix and another that started with a "B" but had such bad reactions I could not have lived taking them so had to find the best way to keep my blood thin and keep calm. My valve was the reason for A-Fib & once that healed A-Fib was gone (and they wanted to replace the valve again).  ::)  In the Eliquis commercial they qualify "for A-Fib not caused by a valve" and again "not for anyone with an artificial valve". Mine is a pig valve.

My daughter sent me a link to recent research showing "after all trials, etc. studied, aspirin proved to be as effective as the stronger blood thinners"..... Cas had a fall on a Wednesday evening that had blood spurting from his forehead, shoulder, arm, hip, leg, everywhere his body touched the wall as he went down. He was 58 when he had triple by-passes and put on Plavix & later switched to Warfin. He was 80 when he had the fall & died, a lot of years of thinning blood.

He refused to let me take him to ER OR let me call them since he had an appointment the next morning for blood test "because of the thinners he was on". Test was not good so was called back in for another on Friday. I called the doctor to have him look at Cas' many places. I had left over sterile pads the size of my chest incision & used them to cover 3 or 4 of those big spots & he had some about 4x5" so the lady doing the blood draw didn't see the damage.

On Friday when he went back they made an appointment with the cardiologist for Monday... and I drove him to that one. From the start of his heart problems he insisted he take care of HIM, I am just as independent so he didn't try to tell me what to do or not (and I'm sure he had to bite his tongue many times). They had the man from his pacemaker/ defib there & he could tell the time of the fall & every movement, which Cas had not been aware they could do. My fear was he was bleeding internally as much as we could see on the outside. Cas died that night during his sleep, at home in his own bed the way he wanted.

No question the blood thinners played a role in his death and that's my reason for looking for the least invasive way to do what is necessary and hope others know their body limits. All too often I suggest something that might be harmful without considering the person might not thoroughly check out side effects. Cas & I totally disagreed about taking pills. He never had side effects & the old pharmacist that took care of me was my watch dog! As it stands, I'm allergic to both medicines used to save people from severe side effects of meds (Prednisone & Benadryl), nothing left to help me.

Oh, Jane & Amy, I forgot this is Sat and meant to go to the Farmer's Market! Too late, ours closed at noon. The corn at the store has been very good so will get more. Also had a yummy watermelon that I shared with my daughter-in-law. She was going to take care of their grands & thought having a big bowl already cut up would be a treat for them. The boys will be home tonight.

It is a HOT 96° but feels like 98°.... very humid & windy. These poor little birds on the nests stand up with wings hanging down. The brown thrush parents are constantly going back & forth with mouths full of bugs or worms but can't tell if this 2nd batch of robins has hatched. They take turns sitting on the nest.

Gloria, my father's doctor had him take the 325 aspirin at the start, then came out with the coated ones & downsized to 81mg... but they had already given him stomach problems. My sister lived near them so she insisted he take what the doctor ordered. She takes a drawer full of all kinds of suppliments but only a minimum blood pressure. I'm afraid she is not keeping her strength up since her husband died this past year, her kids are so good to her (6 of them) they do everything for her. She will be 92 Christmas Day & gets around like a kid except when the kids are around & she pulls the same stunt our father did.... goes helpless & the kids rush to let her lean on them!  She was the first girl after 3 boys so has always been treated like she might break, and her husband also doted on her (she is tiny & dainty). Those same 3 brothers raised me & wasn't going to have another sister that tattled on them!  And that's the story of my life!

Phyllis, I really am glad you mentioned about the thinners, when I "offer advice" I usually bring up checking out the person's special problems. My usual, the Epsom salt, I rarely bother with these days, repeated too often. Guess I need to quit playing doctor! I went down Back Bay Blvd the other day & thought of you.  And when I went back to my bro-in-law's funeral this past year, the kids & I stopped at one of the Ottawa turn offs that has a new Arby's .... had the yummiest sandwich EVER of fruit/chicken, will try that again when driving the car, don't think a place to park the RV & too far for me to walk from where I can park. It is the same turn off where the McDonald & Wendy's is, and now a Walmart on the other side of the off ramp. Town is expanding!

Good morning...

Another hot one on the way here. Watered my plants in the cool of the evening last night and hope the new seeds I planted soon peek above the soil.

A day of rest here, will pick up a few things at the grocery store later on then coast for the day. Need to start a cancer quilt and have an idea in mind ,now to just get at it.

Phyllis, Kyle is not to have asprin either. He can take Tylenol for pain but that is it. Once he tried Aleve and that earned him a ride in the ambulance.........seems he is allergic to ibprophen .

Jane, you're going to have a corny day! Use your angel food cake pan to cut the corn off the cob, makes the job a bit easier. That will be welcomed come winter to have that corn in the freezer.

Patricia, I snagged your gif..will use it in my emails. Thank you!

Lloyd, when you watch tv like that you miss out on all the darn commercials.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, after a cold and very cool week it is 73° now and to go up to 88 later. Last week I wished I could turn heat on and later I will be turning the AC on. Sure has been a crazy spring and starting as a weird summer already. Maybe Mother Nature is warning us to be careful what we do with this earth God gave us to live on and to live in peace and stop destroying what he gave us to live on.

PHYLLIS  blood thinners is one pill I do not have to take o far.

CALLIE  for the smallest state Rhode Island has a change in temperature from here inland than the less than 50 miles to the southern ocean end of the state, In the winter it can be at least 20 degrees  colder than the southern part and we can get an 18 inch snowfall and they get a dusting and in summer it can get 20 degrees hotter at least  here. The highest point here is 812 feet high, hardly a mountain.

PATRICIA  thanks. sure fits me in the summer months. I have a file with winter/snow photos I run as a slide show  on hot summer days.

JANE  glad you are enjoying your working vacation. I was like that when I went to San Diego to see Regina and family after the first 2 days when I was about over the jetlag.

AMY  Tylenol does nothing for me and I have none in the house.

LLOYD  I am slow and lazy this morning. Been sitting here 2 hours already but keep looking out at the clear blue sky-that means still low humidity.

Have a good day and stay safe.

well a bad pinnie always returns the say, and here i am with my two cents back. we had the first green beans out of our raise beds, and is there is one head of cabbage and some claflour about ready to pick. the tamattoes have gren tomatoes, almost ready to pick and have fried green tomatoes, they are always a treet. the peppers have small pepers set on several, and dozens of blooms. the peas are done ate some and put some in the freezer. also letic and carrets  already harvesed not a big deal but will cut the grocery bill some. home growen produce out of your gerden or raised beds always taste the best. and at least you know no hars chemicals on them. I have a smal garden tilled up, as soonas it gets dry enough to run the tiller through it again, we are going to plant severil things it it some sweet corn, and a few wattermeloin and pumpikens, squashe'and suskeney's and what ever comes to miend. we are opn to segestons. good night and sweet dreams.

Need to take garbage away today, then home to make more of Jane's rhubarb juice.

This is the last week of June, hard to believe June is flying by so fast!

Lloyd, nothing taste better than home raised veggies or meat for that matter.

Better get the day started before the heat really hits.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone, had thunderstorms in forecast for overnight but I heard nothing and the walks are dry

LLOYD  in all the years we had a garden and planted peas I only cooked them once. All of us would walk out there and passing the  peas if we saw one pod that looked full we would pick it and eat the peas raw, love that flavor. Could not scold the kids because my husband and I did the same and they learned from us.  Even young green beans taste great picked and eaten raw but my favorite is picking a tomato and eat while walking around and tasted so good I would have to go and pick at least one more.

AMY  every thing fresh tastes better even when it comes to meals. since I can no longer cook the foods I have for years-cannot sit to prepare food, everything in these apartments in too high - counters sinks and stove I was 5'1" but now bent over because of my back I am 4 inches shorter. Bought a high stool to sit on in the kitchen but no place to put knees and could not do anything sitting sideway. Both sons have bought me TV dinners but yuck, so many preservatives in some of them and they burn my throat. I used to freeze a lot of what I cooked but knew what was in the food.

Wow only Lloyd and Amy here since I posted yesterday.

Have a good day and stay safe.

Yucky and humid here today - not much incentive to do anything.

OK this is going to be a quick "Good Morning Everyfriend"  The kids and their Mom are on the way over and when they get here, I have to close this up and put it our of reach or it will be bamboozled so bad it'll take 4 of us to fix it and there's only three of us here.

Yesterday, we went over there for dinner and Dan did beef on the grill,  we took some stuff and Ali made some other stuff.  Everything was great and the kids were so good and so sweet.  Since I came her Mikey has learned to say "BOO".  Since I had a bad cold and didn't want to pass it on, and I didn't want to scare him by picking him up, I thought it might be a good way to get acquainted.  And it worked!  He knows that I'm "GG"  which stands for Great Grammy.  And he's not afraid of me any more.  I love it!

LLOYD, your veggies sound like my farm-raised Dad's back yard garden or maybe more like his "Victory Garden" during the war.  We all worked in that garden.

And we all ate peas right off the bushes that never made it home!  That's one of the things that made working in the Garden for a 5 to 10 year old work back in those days!

AMY, I already forgot what you wanted me to post a picture of.  There's way too much going on here!  Let me know again and I'll work on it!  Oh! Oh!  here they come!  Gotta shut down!  Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

I haven't seen one of these since 2014. These are in the surrounding villages and towns.

"FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Fairbanks North Star Borough has sent out an emergency alert for areas north of the Chatanika River and west of the Murphy Dome Boat Launch. A Level 3 GO evacuation is in effect and persons living in this area are to evacuate now and leave immediately.

All residents and visitors that are west of Shovel Creek along the Chatanika River Valley the level has been changed to a Level 2, SET stance.

There is limited access in to and out of these areas. According to Minto Lakes Fire Incident Command, if there is a drastic change in current and expected direction, residents and visitors need to be prepared to leave at a moment's notice.

Just checking in and then out.  PATRICIA, that announcement is a bit on the scary side.  Am I understanding that it is out now and not a old one?  What do you have to do?

I'm really tired tonight.  I'm not use to having little ones around and playing on the floor with them.  But it's become worth it.  When they were leaving today Mikey made a special trip back to where I was sitting and laid his head in my lap.  My daughter explained after they left, that was his way of hugging me!  I LOVE IT!  I BELONG!

Now I'm going to get my stuff cleaned up and go get ready for bed!  I've been getting tired earlier since I've been here.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

P.S. The weather has been a bit cooler there last couple of days.  I wouldn't mind if it stayed this weay!

Well, I also remembered Jane promised us a photo of the flower stand!  I used to do the art shows & one of my friends tried the Farmer's Market but didn't sell much of anything, people were only interested in the food side. I did a spring & late fall show & loved visiting with everyone.

Amy, I've checked every window all day & no sign of the kittens or Mama. I hear they take them off & leave them so guess that's what happened. Makes me sad but this is the easiest way out for ME... but I am sad about little critters going hungry. Guess Mama will teach them to hunt.

Love Mikey's name.... does he "eat everything" like that commercial? ... "give it to Mikey, he'll eat anything"...

Patricia, we go from floods to fires here as well.  Guess it's always been this way but the news media keeps us better informed (or scared). Will think of them in my prayers, God sure has His hands full.

Been a long day with a short nap that didn't make up for lost sleep when the raccoon showed up at 4:00 am.

Sweet dreams and God Bless all.

Good morning..

Love these cool mornings 49° at the moment. Yesterday was perfect weather.cool with a breeze. Managed to get the part of the garden done and just have a wee bit left to do. Kyle painted the porch, painting he loves to do as you can't put paint where it shouldn't be. Will pick up more paint this morning and more muclh and work about home.

Jane, that is a nice tired..

Gloria, you would have loved our weather yesterday, almost a little too cool but I am not going to complain . When working outside it really was a bonus!

Shirley, momma cat has likley taken off to new places..she may be back alone.

Patricia, hope the air quality is better today.

Better put and egg in my boot and beat it. Hmm should pick something else as eggs are getting to a expensive!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Been a while since I woke up to 60° but sure feels good. I even had to throw a sweatshirt over my shoulders for now. Have a couple, mother & about 40 year old son, coming to work on the berm, cut out volunteer trees & stuff that's overgrown. I woke up about 2:00 am & remembered I had bought a battery powered small saw to cut down the trees that got too big to cut off with the "loppers" & not big enough to get out a chainsaw.  Couldn't remember where I put it since it never got used. Found it, plugged the battery in to be charged in case they want to use it. Their equipment looks pretty old, what they were using on the yard next door. I have hopes they can do what is needed, nice to talk to. Got a couple more hours sleep but never enough. Better eat, not sure what time they will show up & I have gates to unlock, etc.

Had to smile to myself about "Kyle loves to paint". Cas did, too.  One time I was having a baby shower for the wife of one of the guys Cas worked & played golf with. He came home from work about 5:00, the party was set for 7:00.... and offered the paint the living room before the guests arrived! He was serious & I nearly had a heart attack at the thought! I had spent hours getting everything ready, there wasn't a mark on the wall of that new house and he wanted to push all the furniture to the middle & paint the walls!!!  That was a loooong time ago!

Yesterday was only in the 70s but supposed to start heating back up today. Two more months of HOT and then it can start cooling back down, Gloria. I think Patricia's gif is a jinx to the super hot we had for a while. Better get a move on. "Daylight's burning", as John Wayne said in one old movie.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I have to make this one a bit short.  I have my bedding in the washer and I need to get a shower and get dressed.  I don't know if the kids will be back today but I do know dinner's on me today.  I'm thinking of one of my casseroles.  I checked yesterday and they have everything I need.

I'll remember to take a picture of Ali's flowers on Saturday.  Won't forget that one this time!

SHIRLEY, I hope someone as nice as you takes care of the kitties!  They need a good home!

AMY, I can imagine how you felt when Kyle wanted to "paint the living room" in time for your guests!  I'd have hidden his paint cans and brushes!

The laundry is in now I have to wait and then remake my bed!  I guess I could get my shower while I wait!  CINDY had gone to work right over there in the end of the family room!  That will be her morning.  I think, since it's cooler today than it's been, I'll take a short walk and look around.  My legs need a stretch!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning from a very smoky and 60 for a low Interior; the smell of smoke is everywhere. We're hosting some fire refugees. As we're the closest and locally largest city, we're the primary destination for almost anything, including medical assistance. Some folks parked at the fairgrounds with all the animal refugees, from cats and dogs to horses, goats, pigs, and alpacas and llamas.

The official high yesterday was 81 but my balcony thermometer read 83 in the shade. Below is an hour-by-hour current smoke and fire map for the state. If you look at the right-center, just above the city of North Pole, you will see a cluster of marks for fires. Underneath those, you can make out an F and an s. That's us.   http://smoke.alaska.edu/current_fires.html  A little further south is the city of Anchorage with its own cluster. Hmmm.

We used to enjoy summers in the low one hundreds but the past few years have brought fires every time we get into the high seventies or low eighties and in the tundra just north of us, it can burrow in and burn through the fall and winter only to re-erupt the following summer.

Tuesday afternoon HELLO to EVERYFRIEND 🦋

Another doctor appointment in the books.  I know many of you say "all you seem to do is go to doctors".......man oh man am I ever living up to that😩. I sure do not like being that person that ONLY talks about themselves, ESPECIALLY their woes!  I have so many caring medical professionals trying to get me well......I am truly blessed🦋

MARILYN.......our Av's are back in Denver with that coveted STANLEY CUP❤️ Oh my goodness what a honor‼️  The big celebration is Thursday morning in downtown Denver...... the younger me would be more than delighted to go and cheer them on🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪 We have plans to be with our little grands that morning.....and that is much more to my liking🥰🥰.

SHIRLEY, I thank you for your concern and suggestions for Bob.  Right now he is just biding his time HIS turn to go to the doc for the tests🤪. I am saddened after reading back though the timing of Chas's passing😩. LOL.... at the thought of Cas wanting to paint the walls before the baby shower🤪🤪

PHYLLIS, I thank you so much for your caring thoughts and warnings regarding the taking of aspirin.  Some may not know that mixing drugs...even over the counter ones, can get one in trouble😘. I liked the thought you suggested of my Bob trying to keep himself calm, incase this is adding to his issue.  Thankfully, my hubby is about the most laid back person EVER.....he is like his mama......she lived to 102 and was the epitome of the most laid back individual I have ever known.  Just the exact opposite of me😩😩

AMY, we have never had a frightening experience of someone being allergic to something and having to be carted off to emergency.....I am sure it was frightening for both of you when Kyle took Aleve and got a ride in ambulance 😳😳

PATRICIA, your warning you shared for evaluation is frightening....was that for you and your area?  Here in the West we get a lot of these kinds of warnings as you well know🤪

OK, too much time and too many interruptions..... Ibest get this posted.

Jenny

Happy Evening Everyfriend!  We took a ride out to Ali's flower growing field today and took a bunch of pictures of the growing flowers!  As soon as I figure out how to send them anywhere, I'll try to get them posted here.  Then when we go to the Farmers Market on Saturday where she sells them, I get a picture of her and the flowers all set up and ready to go.

I'm still having trouble working this new computer and sending messages is one of my problems.  But I'm in a good place, because daughter Cindy is and expert!

It's so nice to see everyone in here, especially JENNY and MYCHEAL who don't come by very often lately.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.  And may he give me a learning hand with this computer!

Good morning everyone, This will be short, have an eye doctor appointment at 10:30. Cox TV was off all day yesterday but PC and phone were working Cannot figure that one out. Wonder how much the bill will go up. Usually does after it goes out for a day

My son will pick me up at 9:45 to get there. Nothing is close around here, just a town with several villages. Used to have everything in town till city people moved in. They wanted the peace and quiet but business was done in the cities.

Have a good day and stay safe

Hello Everyfriend and a special HELLO to you, ROLEY!  We all remember you and your armchair walks!  Welcome back.

I wasn't able to employ Cindy's help to get the flowers posted today she had too much office work and the kiddies showed up this morning and stayed until after lunch.  I didn't ask her to do anything for me because she spent the afternoon catching up on her job.  Maybe tomorrow!

I took a walk tonight after the weather cooled off and I found a little pond wit a fountain in the middle of it.  Very pretty!  Tomorrow we're going to a couple stores and then Saturday will be the Farmers Market.  Cindy has to go to her office in Dallas but I'm going with Jim to help Ali get set up and then to do some farm shopping and also to take a pic of her flowers on her stand!  Gonna be a couple of busy days!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one! And may he protect us from COVID!

Hello, Roley (I think I always called you "Peter" didn't I?  I'm Tisie/Shirley and also enjoyed your walks. We lived in England (Marlow and High Wycombe) when my husband was in the US Air Force stationed at the satellite base that joined Wycombe Abbey (out of South Ruislip). We kept saying we were going to get back but never did. Anyway, nice to see you in here again!

Sweet dreams to all, it has been a very long day & still much to do before I can go to bed.

Good morning everyone. Mike was here on time so we were a little early. Did not get out of there until after 12-noon. I told him about that film that covers my right eye at times that takes all day to go away. Oh boy he went through all those machines and kept looking at the results then went back to the old hands on way starting with the drops in the eyes and then after they had opened all the way he looked in them again. Kept asking me questions. Seems like the corneas are swollen. Now he has been in the business all his life-his father  is one of the founders of the group and his sister is a eye doctor, too. Well I have a script that Yvette will go for today and I go back in 4 months-if it is not snowing. My son was grumpy by then. He dropped my off in front of the building but did not come up here like he always does. I knew there would be no talk with Regina today, they had to go into town-that includes driving round trip-so I laid on the couch and slept 2 hours and woke hungry.

ROLEY--PETER  of course we remember you and missed you and wondered what happened to you. Yikes 3 years in a hospital must have been torture. I pray your health is much better now. You were missed by all or us and your  Arm Chair walks.

JANE  the lake with the fountain sounds like a perfect place to sit and relax.

AMY  I remember the days when we made birthday cards and looking up those days every month and now I never look at them.

MICHAEL  Enjoy your special day.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I hope you all have a great day.

GLORIA, good luck with the eye drops.  I hope hope they do the job.  Coping with bad eyes is no fun and I speak from experience!

I have to get on with my day and this will be short because I have a cramp coming on in my left hand and that makes typing a bit difficult.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

@Gloria ;

Whoops. i did type a reply but it got lost in space. i'll try again...

I will find out how to continue my armchair walks when i get a little stronger, Nice to see my ladies again perhaps we can Skype sometime soon. I'm very weak and tend to fall asleep while typing but i'll try my best to become regular again. In the meantime my grandson is here helping me with all the computer stuff so replies may be a little slower but give me time and i will answer.

I haven't had a walk for several years except for on my PC. I'ts the only way i can get 'out' now

Nice to see you all again, its cheered me up a little.

-Roley (Peter)

Attention all you home "canners".  Amazon's "prior to Prime Day" is featuring canning lids, several different offers, with some containing large mouth, regular mouth and small mouth lids.  The prices look great to me, although I don't can and wouldn't be buying any.  One offer has 100 lids...I think thats the one with 3 sized lids.

I took time out to watch, Roley/Peter, and thoroughly enjoyed the walk in the rain. I do remember being caught in the rain many times when I walked from Highfields down the spinny to Marlow. It was quite a walk but I was young and had a pram to push to bring groceries back in. They (groceries) stored under the rain proof cover of the pram with the baby. Great memories. Thank you for taking time to share the link!
