--Catch a Falling Star
Perry Como
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Never let it fade away
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day
For love may come and tap you on the shoulder some starless night
Just in case you feel you wanna hold her
You'll have a pocketful of starlight
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket (catch a falling star and-)
Never let it fade away (never let it fade away)
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket (catch a falling star and-)
Save it for a rainy day (save it for a rainy day)
For love may come and tap you on the shoulder some starless night
And just in case you feel you wanna hold her
You'll have a pocketful of starlight
(Pocketful of starlight) (mm, hm, hm, hm, hmm)
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket (catch a falling star and-)
Never let it fade away (never let it fade away)
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket (catch a falling star and-)
Save it for a rainy day (save it for a rainy day)
Save it for a rainy, rainy-rainy, day
For when your troubles start multiplyin' and they just might
It's easy to forget them without tryin'
With just a pocketful of starlight
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket (catch a falling star and-)
Never let it fade away (never let it fade away)
Catch a falling star and put it in your pocket
Save it for a rainy day
(Save it for a rainy day)
Save it for a rainy day
Doo- lally- Pip
As age creeps up, then you may find,
It is playing tricks that affect the mind.
You are driving along, then without knowing.
Suddenly you have forgot'n where you are going.
How many times have you been heard to say,
I don't know what day it is today.
There's something important you must not forget,
So you write it down, but can't find it yet.
You go out shopping, didn't need a lot,
What you really went for, you have not got,
Never mind, you can always borrow,
Must remember to pay it back tomorrow.
Some time when you go to use the John.
By the time you get there the feelings gone.
When it's pill time , while you go get a drink,
Have I already had them, you then start to think.
You get to a stage when it becomes frustrating.
That brain of yours is just not rotating.
These are the signs of a popular quip.
I think I'm going doo-lally-pip.

Doo- lally -Pip is a well known slang phrase used in some parts of the U K for becoming a little forgetful in a nice way.
Desmond Tutu
Forgiving is not forgetting. It's actually remembering—remembering and not using your right to hit back. It's a second chance for a new beginning. And the remembering part is particularly important. Especially if you don't want to repeat what happened.
When something hasn't turned out well, don't get up; keep going, and try different ways of making it work. There is no fixed answer, no single solution. We find the best approach through trial and error.
Haemin Sunim
Good morning..
Well snow found us!! Must be 3 inches of it and the snow is still falling. Can't deal with it this morning as Kyle has two appointments one in the city and one on the way home.
Bubble, thank you for the new start and yes some memories are priceless. Nice work Phyllis..
Bubble we sang catch a falling star till we were starry eyed! Perry Como is one of my favorites.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Great beginning for March, Bubble, thank you. I'm with Amy about loving Perry Como & Catch a Falling Star. Totally agree with the wise sayings of Desmond Tutu and Haemin Sunim. Sad to admit I had to look up Haemin Sunim, not familiar with the name. Interesting person.
Phyllis, love the graphic & right in tune with what I've been doing lately... going thru stuff to sort & explain to my kids where it came from & connects to my ancestors. I know the computer has been a great help for chasing history but with all the changes in MY lifetime, it is showing the negative side by not being able to pull up what we "saved" on old computers/cameras/ etc. I have a lot of CDs & DVDs with copies of old photos & papers but computers are showing up without those devices now. What to do? Thumb drives & SD cards loaded with family history copied with the "close up rings" that fit the old 35mm cameras. So much to do to pass on the memories.
Gotta eat breakfast & be ready to greet #1 son when he finds time to install (hopefully) that new furnace filter. This house has the "whole house" humidifier so I bumped it up & slept better. Air so dry my hair followed the brush until I wet it down! Starting to get light, the days are getting longer. Hey, Amy, hope one of those stops today is for fun, the chocolate or cheese factory? Sorry about the new snow, I would even trade you for one day of deep enough snow to slide down my hill. Never did get that air compressor to work to air up the Sno-nut when we had snow. :'(
Now just someone tell me if "March comes in like a lamb" what happens? We have spring, some would say "shirtsleeve weather" but I'm not quite that warm blooded. To be mid 70s today!
Cats are fed but Tiger didn't want hers so I put it up, Callie has been cleaning up both bowls & getting fat! She was limping yesterday so need to watch what she eats. She has to climb the pool fence when Rhodie is out & about & worry jumping off the fence onto the concrete around the pool (even tho it has grass carpet over it).. might be the cause.
Good Morning Everyfriend! This day started off pretty good!
I'm up and attem
Frankie is off to work
Cooper had his walk.
I have the first load of wash in the washer.
We've all had breakfast.
And the rest of the laundry is sorted and ready to go.
I'm gathering all the stuff to do my vegetable soup but it will have to wait until next week because I need a trip to the store before I can proceed. I have, however, decided to make AMY's Potato Bacon Soup. I think I have everything to do that. Don't know if it will be today or tomorrow!
BUBBLE, thanks so much for cleaning up after us and giving our SS a new look. I'm als a fan of Perry Como and I have a CD with that song on it. In fact, I pulled it out and I'm going to play it later. I also liked the two pertinent sayings from the two famous people!
Now, I better get busy. I think the washer just stopped and that means one load to the dryer and another one in the washer! Also, still have to make Frankie's bed. I told her not to worry about it when she's here that I have nothing better to do and I can save her some time!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
Thank you, Bubble. And, thanks for the quotes. I particularly liked the Haemin Sunim quote. Lately some things haven't gone entirely successful and I tend to get frustrated. I need to not give up and just keep trying to get things straightened out. Doo- lally -Pip mentions a lot of the things that frustrate me the most. <sigh>
Thank you, also, to those of you who mentioned you liked the graphic.
Sunny and supposed to be warmer today. I'm looking forward to it.
Take care, All.
:cup: :hello:
:cup: :cheer: Me too, me too. :excited:

By the way, Rick, MY robins haven't learned to eat raisins! Had a handful out on the pillar by the seed dish & nobody (even bluejays) have touch them. Oops.. theres my son. Hi, Lloyd!
I just got off the phone with Gloria and she wanted me to tell you that her computer is out of whack until her son can get there to fix it for her. He tried to tell her on the phone what to do and it didn't work. We had a very nice talk and caught up on lots of things! GLORIA, hurry back!
Good morning from the Interior! Yesterday's lite snow turned into a full day of flakes, with three inches total. According to the weather report, 21/22 snowfall is 66% higher than the historical average this far into the winter. They reported no snow expected through the seventh, but they also said that about yesterday!
Lloyd, it sounds like you'll be busy today, and Jane, thanks for the news about Gloria!
Phyllis, nice graphic and Bubble thanks for those words of wisdom!
And to Callie and Rammel, :cup: :metoo: :cup:

I'm heading for the haystack! I have to be up early every day this week to meet Cooper at the door at 6:30. Every day gets something new in Frankie's job and she loves it more each day. This was a very good change for her!
I got a lot done today and I'm going to finish it tomorrow....I hope! Things are looking cleaner. I finished 4 loads of laundry and vacuumed the whole house. Tomorrow I'll swiffer the floors and do a bit of dusting! I suppose I'm a bit out of order but it works for me!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one! Nighty night, Everyfriend!
Bed time in Kansas, sleep sound & peaceful, my friends. God Bless. Shirley

Good Morning Everyfriend who appears today! This is a shortie because Cooper is already asking for his morning walk. It's 36 and "sunny" this morning heading for a high of 50º! I do believe Spring is on the way! Yesterday in the afternoon when Cooper and I went for a walk, I didn't even wear a coat!
Have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
LLOYD, you sneaked in while I was typing!
Good morning..
Yesterday was a good day but tiring...I even left the snow right where it is and will deal with that today.
No chocolate or cheese shop as we went the "other" direction..
Jane, thank you for letting us know about Gloria. Must be so frustrating for her with her computer!
Better get ready for the dance..
Enjoy your day and stay safe...
 TTYL ...... maybe. ;)
Good morning, everyone, I'm up, fed, and inhaling my first coffee for the day, and Farrah has been fed and given fresh water. Yesterday I noticed that it was light out when I awoke at seven, as it is this morning and no more snow forecast. Other than that, I've got nothing.
Good morning, EVERYFRIEND 🦋 Ash Wednesday today, and another beautiful day in store for the Mile Hgh City. A storm is forecasted for Friday, 😩 but this week sure has been enjoyable 🥰. I am definitely ready for spring🐝🐝
Good morning, PATRICIA. I am enjoying my cup of Joe this morning also. Cheers‼️ Happy there is no snow forecasted for your area‼️
JANE, I am pleased to read that Frankie's job is going great and she loves it‼️ That Cooper Boy sure is lucky to have you to spend the day with 😻
AMY, sorry for Kyle that your outing yesterday did not include the cheese and chocolate shop😩🤪🤪
I feel so bad for GLORIA, as I know she is missing being here and we miss seeing her😩
PHYLLIS, waving back at you 🥰. I loved your graphic 💕, it is beautifully done and so on spot💘
I am SORE, SORE today after a good workout at PT in the morning and a good workout at the pool in the afternoon. Doing my very best to get this arm stronger 😩. My PT is certain that I have a palsy issue and she is most anxious for me to get the EMG test done on the 24 to see exactly what we are dealing with😩😩🤔
I wish EVERYFRIEND a wonderful day.
Jenn
Snow has been cleaned up for now..it is still snowing but I hope not for long. Large parachute shaped snowflakes were gently falling earlier but now it is a little more serious. Managed to break another shear pin :tickedoff: but thanks to Kyle he fixed this one for me. :smitten: Brought in 2 loads of wood so all is well for the time being.
Grocery shopping is no fun anymore. Empty shelves and high prices scare the dickens out of one. I mentioned this to Kyle and said I have no reason to complain when we see on the news what is happening overseas. One has a lot to be thankful for. We have our pantry well stocked and dogs looked after also with food/treats.
Better get the kitchen tided up ready for the next meal.
Amy reading your Post, Made me think of another statement. A persion said how sad they felt for there self, no shoes untill he/she seean a person with no feet. bottom line is most of us on this sides of the big pond are better off than we know. Nancy and I sure are better off than we were children. her and her famley lived on a 20 acer farm and her dad rasied a large blackbeay patch and they all had to pick the beaires and sell them, kept a small amount and cande them, they had one cow for ther milk and butter and cottage chese. a patoe bin in there celler and raised there owen patoes. I was the oldest of three boys, our fathe had left us an when i was six years the oldest of the three of us. our fathercame to see us one day and asked mom if he could get loose would she have him back. she said she would think and pray about it. that was on a wensday and on the following satuerday he was murrderd. we mooved next dore to our great grandmother and rented that house for a few years and then the Man that owened it told mom he would raise our rent $!. per month and she would be buying it I think that was a two year peirod we owend it. I delivered gerocreys papers and mowed yards to help put food on our table. we raised a garden and caned it. Lots of vegies and tomatoies. grand mother had a concoard grape vienuard a city block length long, short of the length of her house it was a city block long. there was two small creaks next to one side of town. us two older boys some how got fishing hooks and line and cut some stret mapel poles. and coughr bullhead cat fish, and grand mother would dress them and cook them for us. in tose days the store keeper would sell fresh cows milk from one of there sons place.they bottled it in quart and 1/2 gallons jars.35 cents per quart and 70cents 1/2 gallon. we would pore it in a big around pan let the cream rise skim it off and churn butter. at first we had no fridge. so we wold lower the milk in a string in the well to cool it. this is enough for now see you later.
Lloyd
Lloyd, this was a difficult time for you and your family and it made you stronger. Same with Nancy and her family. All these trials you both came through prepared you for the future. I do think that all those qualities ,knowledge will be put to the test in the future. Those that don't know how to prepare a meal without cans or boxes and not from scratch may be hungry.
To all my fellow Seniors and Friends, "May the best day of your past, be the worst day of your future."
I think "coming up the hard way" made all of us better people! It wasn't easy for us either but my parents and grandparents were so special that we didn't even know we were coming up "the hard way". When I read stories of the people that were young and growing up when I was, I know it wasn't easy but when I was a kid I didn't know it wasn't easy! I just knew that was life!
Now talk about today...this was HARD!!! I've reached the point that working is "hard work"! I still thank God that I can do it but sometimes I wish I didn't have to! But my house is CLEAN tonight! I'm beat but it was worth it!
I'm heading for the haystack early tonight so I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow! And may God bless us, every one!
Well I never got any of what I planed to do. I got a bad throbbing headace. then fell asleep on the couck, when I woake up I just watche the boobtube. I never went with Nany to shop and see edward jones reperviensitve. and that was not good newse either. some of our investements Have droppped, the war overseas is affecting that also. I would miss our grand and great grand childern, more of the foul going on now days and is not getting any better, some times I wish God would just call me home. Hopefull I can do better tomorrow, goodnight and sweet dreams.
Lloyd
Had a long-long post that disappeared so will not try to say it all over. Bottom line is I think most of us grew up working hard & not knowing we had a hard life because everyone else was in the same boat. In my world a very few did have a lot but some had less and for sure my parents could fix anything, grow everything & even found means to help anyone that came to the door. We raised our kids the same way, even built a house from scratch while they were little & gave them jobs geared to their abilities.
Yesterday I got online with a company that finds people to fit any project, but they did not get it straight that I had a couple shrubs & a small tree I wanted transplanted so I gave up & backed out of the site. Ever since I have been getting phone calls that got my phone number & that wrong information (to cut down a tree), but "do any kind of lawn service". One insisted he had an appointment in my neighborhood so could come by & give me an estimate. On the phone he said he would work for $15. per hour. That changed by the time he got here in his shiny new truck & all new lawn equipment in the trailer..... He wanted a steep price to transplant the 2 shrubs & small hawthorn tree (shorter than I am), so I asked about his hourly price for other jobs in the yard. His price went up to $50 an hour, so I told him I'd let him know. Little while later had another call & another lawn man... so I cut to the quick about his hourly fee... He didn't hesitate, was $55. per hour & I told him that was "over my pay scale", and hung up. Have a feeling in both cases these guys had been laid off & paid to not work, the one that came by with all new stuff said he "had to keep track of everything since it was a new business", will eventually give up & go back to work & declare all those expenses as a loss. I am not a nice person anymore & don't trust anyone's motives.
BUT, still leaves me with nobody to hire at any reasonable price. This isn't skilled work, they didn't spend thousands for training or education, just some grunt work. I had in mind $20-$25 an hour, and I was willing to surprise them with a bonus if we got the jobs done faster.
I just don't have the steam to do it all & 2 of my kids are working after retired & other works long days at his job, so they help when they can, but I insist on paying them or won't let them help. It is a problem & the jobs pile up. I am really disappointed at what people expect to be paid, plus the prices of everything going sky high IF you can find what you want.
Got to get to bed, didn't get the car washed today so on the list for tomorrow. Want to water the new little plants coming up, had 82° yesterday & today but not quite as warm tomorrow. The week end shows 2 nights below freezing so will see if I have to drag out the covers for the early bloomers.
Sweet dreams & God Bless.... Pray somebody shuts down that idiot before we have another Pearl Harbor or 9/11.... How many millions of their own country people did Hitler & Stalin kill or have killed to establish their worlds? Is this what history will call what we witness today? This is not a good bedtime story!!!
Lloyd, looks like we are all a little down tonight. Hope tomorrow is better for all of us.
Quote from: Shirley on March 02, 2022, 11:47:08 PMI had a couple shrubs & a small tree I wanted transplanted
Shirley - Do you have a Nursery or Garden Center nearby? If so, talk to them and see if they can help or refer someone.
Rick, I had not thought about that. We do have a couple I will call, would have before transplanting anyway since the guy that came by didn't know when the best time was to transplant. I did tell him that "I do have saws to cut them down rather than pay $250 to have them moved & die".
I may just leave them where they are because the hawthorn tree that was here when we bought was already dead so I planted wisteria by it & a couple years later the wisteria totally covered it & had blooms covering the tree. I was planning to take a photo but woke up to whole tree laying over, no roots left to hold up in our wind! I only got 3 little wisteria roots from my parents next door neighbor & should have known wisteria was crazy about spreading. Still don't know if hawthorns have long roots or that tree didn't because it was dead. That little circle of ground cut out of the concrete in the pool area is ideal for starting trees or shrubs & I've given away dozens over the years.
The Arbor Society sends 10 little trees & shrubs for a donation every year & I'd rather grow them up myself than buy larger ones to plant. When time to transplant I keep ones I want & offer the rest to anyone else. We have mulberry, elm, redbud, sweet gum & even mimosa trees that pop up all over the yard & flower beds. I pull up some & put in pots & give away when they outgrow the pots. When we bought this place there wasn't a single tree down by the river & now it's a woods, mostly volunteers. I planted redbud & a sycamore but beaver munched off the redbud the same week so I put chicken wire around the sycamore trunk now it is "3 stories tall". The birds & wildlife love my woods & shade, so do I. Time to realize I can't dig the holes anymore! I should have moved the crape myrtle & hawthorn a couple years ago but Covid (blame everything on Covid) hit.
I woke up at 4:30am realizing I forgot to put the training pad down in the utility room for Callie. Youngest son stops by on Wed after work & I make sure everything clean since he is allergic to cats. Nice outside so Callie out & Tiger off hiding in the basement. Still too cold for Callie to stay out overnight & I was so sleepy I forgot. Did give them one more special feeding before I went to bed. (No damage done.) Callie is showing her age, stiff when she gets up but loves being outside in the sun. I think Tiger would be a full time house cat now but not Callie, so I'll go down to the river with them today. This old lady doesn't have the steam she used to have, either!
Amy should be up by now... think I will feed cats & myself & go back to bed. Will pick up those sweet gum balls when it warms up about 10:00, tried it out when Pete brought it by & it really does work better than anything I've tried so far. No batteries to keep charged or gasoline to mix to use... just grunt labor. ;)
Good morning..
Another day and another dance. Doesn't look like much but id does need to be removed.. Then onto diva duties....thank you Callie...makes mundane jobs sound fancy. ;D
Rick, good call on the garden shop!
Shirley, I think everyone wants the money but not the work.
Jane, hope today you can coast and just enjoy the day with Cooper.
Better get my dancing duds on..
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
:cup: Good morning Shirley...just finishing my tea then out I go to play in the snow. Some crows are back but I haven't seen Drop wing yet..
Shirley,
"Rick, I had not thought about that." --- That's why we all are here - to help.
I think the best time to move a bush or tree is in the Fall - when it's need for water is minimal and the roots have a chance to re-establish over the winter and early spring. If moved in the spring they likely will need heavy watering through the season.
" tried it out when Pete brought it by & it really does work better than anything I've tried so far." --- Just what is it you tried? I bought a thing to pick up acorns when we had the oak tree. It is just a round wire cage that the acorns push into when you roll it over the acorns. It worked pretty well. But a year after I got it my neighbor whined and cried so much about the acorns dropping, and wanted me to cut down my tree. They sent a couple of threatening letters so I finally said that if they wanted the tree down they could have it taken down and pay for the job. They did that. It was a beautiful tree and I had had it trimmed a couple of years prior. I don't think I have talked to them since, and have no plans too.
Amy - All that DANCING with the snow is what's causing it. The snow likes dancing. Just go out and beat the heck out of it. You'll see - it will go elsewhere.
Spring has sprung,
The grass is riz,
I winder where the posies is?
When Cooper and I stepped out the door for our morning walk, I heard a flock of geese! I don't know if they were flying or if they're over on the nearby pond roosting but I rather think they were on the wing because the sound disappeared pretty quickly! Anyway, I'll take it as a sign of Spring!
AMY, my plan for today is "NO PLAN AT ALL". I'm hoping to relax and rest up from the past two days and get ready for tomorrow or Sunday shopping. Frankie might be here for supper (spaghetti for supper) and she might stay overnight. We'll see.
I have a book started to read and I did finish Sidney Poitier's book. He was quite a guy! I knew he was special but now I know why and how he got that way!
My current book is a JACK HIGGINS war and spy story! I'm a fan of JH and of spy stories and war stories. This one is a triple whammy...war AND spies!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
I know I am in the wrong place but gosh I've been there before :)
Soak the raisins for the robins overnight in warm water. the raisin will soften, change color being lighter, have the texture and taste to a robin like a good ole worm
Mycheal
Rick,I did beat it and it almost went over to the neighbours! :2funny: Wind was up and took it a little farther than it should go! Al finished for now.
mycheal,
We get the raisins in those little snack boxes like are given at Halloween. Easy to put in pocket. Even when they dry out a bit the Robin chows down on them. We started with raisins when my son read that Mocking Birds like them. Then the Robin started grabbing them, and now even Sparrows grab them. I think Shirleys problem is that the birds don't know yet. Once they try them they're hooked :2funny: When I walk to the corner to the Mail Box it is not uncommon for a bird or squirrel to follow me, probably in hopes of a hand out. My entertainment for the day.
Don't worry about being in the wrong place. We've been here for a while and are familiar with the topics. It all will come in time - and we're not critical.
Good afternoon everyone. it is a beautful sunny day here In centrial MO. 57º now at5:53 PM.
(well I say and mean it I am a lover rather than a fighter. one enemy is one to many a million freinds is alright Not too many. I try hard not to hurt anyone. My heart feels good when I know I have done good for someone. I wil Leave you with that to ponder see you
all Later.
Lloyd
I'll make one more stab at posting.... did 2 (too long) and as I went to enlarge & color they disappeared... do you think my wi-fi just blinks to cause this to happen? Had the whole scree go back to desktop & none of the back up arrows or anything would bring back my post. Got to remember to use wordpad & wouldn't have this problem, maybe?
Got the sweet gum balls cleaned up, this works like the old time hand sweepers with no motor or anything, just push & pull & they trap the spikey little balls inside the cage. It is work, especially pulling the spreader to the wire cage to dump them out. Got half of a big dumpster full. Then I walked the cats down to the river to see what damage the beaver has done lately. Not happy with it, getting up on MY bank & munched off a couple trees I didn't want down. What it cut down last year on the other side of the path is all overgrown with re-growth of stumps. They trim off the branches & leave the tall & very straight trees (mostly willow). It is still 71° a little after 8:00pm, don't know what the high was today, but I did water & found lots of daffodils popping out of the ground & the surprise lilies are 2-3" tall already. Even the pot of chives is green & ready to eat. Love 'em on baked potato. BUT, weather guessser says we will have a couple nights below freezing later in the week end.
Hey, Mycheal, I will try soaking the raisins.... Rick, they are pretty dry. Got to thinking, they are 2 years old because I didn't go to CO last summer so they've been in the frig since the summer before. Saw a squirrel sitting on the pillar holding a raisin in his/it's hands & eating, took time to chew good. ;) Thanks for the advice about transplanting, I'm tired of trying to find a handyman.... think I'll just leave them be for now. I did water that circle of stuff, nothing greening up yet. I used to have hollyhocks in there but they died out. Still have some shasta daisies & black eyed Susans, plus those crape myrtle & hawthorn... and some weeds (thanks to the birds).
I will watch in the morning to see if the majority of the cormorants that winter here are gone. Watched wave after wave of them going over a couple days ago, big flocks, I didn't know we had that many this year. We don't have the hundreds of Canada geese along the river the last couple years. When a new addition is built they always have a lake put in & the geese make themselves at home. The city is spreading out so all the ducks & geese move out closer to the fields for food. We have flocks of "locals" that don't migrate, but the turtles in the river keep the population down. We will see a mama duck & 10 or 12 babies swim by & few days later she is down to just a few.
I'd better see if this is gonna post or disappear. Hope Gloria gets her computer fixed & Amy gets to put the snow blower away soon. Mine is still in the garage & will wait until March is over. We have had BIG snow storms into April, but should be able to tell if this is going to be an early summer, don't y'all think?
I did NOT wear a mask in Walmart today, first time in a couple years. Hurried & washed my hands with my Clorox wipes as soon as I got back in the car. I decided to fix tostadas tomorrow & will see if #1 son & wife want to join me. Both will be teaching & that is the kicker, whether they will get off early enough to come by to eat. We'll see. I got all the fixin's ...... Sweet dreams, God Bless.
Hi Everyfriend! I'm heading for the haystack a tad early tonight. Having Cooper come early gets me going early and then when I try to nap, I can't. I guess I'm supposed to sleep at night!
I got started on my new book today and it's going to be a doozy. It doesn't waste time getting going!
I did a lot of texting today, some phone calls, a few personal visits as Cooper and I walked and not a lot else. I did do a lot of reading!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Lightly snowing here but I don't (hope) it will amount to much.
Kyle wants to pick up lumber to make another trug on speculation. I am sure with food prices going high....that is if you can get the product more folks are going to put in a garden. When the pandemic started a lot of people did put in a garden as they were working from home. Seeds were difficult to find last year as were canning jars and lids.
Shirley, I had to look up sweet gum balls.....prickly little stinkers aren't they and I also saw the sweeper.
Patricia, missed your post. Are you having any trouble on buying Farrah's food? My friend said her Polly will only eat one brand of food and she finally found it and bought up a good supply of it.
Rick, aka Pied Piper of the birds and squirrels
the critters know who feeds them. :)
Jane, son didn't get to go to OK but it on his way to TX. Bet he will phone and tell me he has a tan and how hot is it while we are freezing here!
Jenny, how is your Dad doing?
Phyllis ,good morning..:)
Better get ready to meet the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning everyone. well LOOKS Like AMY is first one here again today, Our wether guesser is saying 43º and clear, But he/she is all wet again. we are over cast no wend here in centrial MO. Have a good day everyone that comes in. I plan on working on our raised beds today. I have taken my vitials and forward them to VA. the machine they gave me saves you tax payers and us a lot of $$$ no gas money or travel or postage for either of us.It is amazing how it sends to VA by way of sadalight. Bottom line is I think we have no privecy. I have heard that the goverment can even count the money in your hand ?
Lloyd
Good morning, Amy and Lloyd and All who come in today.
Sunny here and cooler. Our temp. got up to 81 deg. yesterday. Dropped back down overnight and supposed to be in the 50's today. I opened the doors yesterday and let some fresh air in the house but don't think I'll be doing that today.
Take care, All.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I thought it was supposed to be warmer today but it's not even going to get out of the 30s. 39 is supposed to be the high for today. All that's left of the snow around here is wherever the plow lifted and then backed off. Mostly at the corners. Then there are ice patches where the sun doesn't light for long each day. Not in my yard!
Mikey tested positive for COVId and had a couple of bad days but my daughter says he seems to be doing fine now. He's eating, playing and laughing again! Thank you God!
I hope the birds are suffering in the cold! They don't follow me around out there like they do Rick! Do you think we should call him "Birdman"?
I better get busy or nothing will get done around here! I did communicate with my yard guy yesterday and he's on for the summer! So I don't have to worry about that when I'm gone!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning from the Interior. We're expecting a snow and ice storm Saturday as we're supposed to cool slightly. Yesterday, I spent hunting and gathering in our local malls. Today will be spent that way again, getting the items I forgot because I didn't look at my list. I was bedazzled and annoyed at ingredient lists and purchased too much of one and not enough of the other.
Today is going, as usual, Farrah and I are both fed, she got water and I guzzled caffeine. My morning round of texts and calls is over and both good and bad news. One is recovering from Omicron and another tests positive. I don't know what the summer will bring.
The city allocated a larger amount for snow and ice in their budget and are planning a concerted effort to dispose of the excess snow we had this year, historically 66% over the average, meteorologists say. Mother Nature then announces another round tomorrow. I thought this was the Arctic, where snow and humidity are low?
Amy, I got home tired yesterday and while I was online, I just wanted to disengage. I went to bed early.
Patricia, sorry about the frustation, maybe it's the moon? Gotta blame on something. I had a hit below the belt in the mail, notice from city that the RV has to be moved in just over 10 days, so I called & asked for extention to sell it. Will get a month+ to clean out & get out of driveway. I don't want to store it because in the driveway I can run the generator and also plug into power once a month to keep all charged & ready to roll. I know it is time to get rid of it but has been fun & a comfort this winter to know if power out I could get in it & run generator & be warm & happy with frig, freezer & TV. Has 6 new tires, year old roof & almost new batteries. Depending on the buyer, I would leave all the equipment I've bought (sewer) & extra mattress, etc. but not if not nice people. (Sons can use most with their campers....) Will be watching for return of NEW conversion type vans that go into garages. Had 2 of them & was okay for 1 person & dog. This is not what I planned to think about today. Got fixin's for tostadas to make today so gonna drown my sorrows in yummy food.
Sincere sympathy for anyone testing positive for Covid. Gr-daughter/husband & 2 kids (7 & 5) have all had it the last week/10 days.
Shirley ,why do you have to move it? Did you tell them this is your only source of heat/water etc if power goes out?
I recently returned home, and I can tell you that everything is melting! And tomorrow's promised mix of snow, ice, and rain has diminished from 85% to 50%.
This time I took my list along and didn't buy into that $200.00 milk syndrome. I went to a different grocery store in the Northeast, past the city's snow dump storage by bus. Five of those snow piles were huge and reminded me of coal slag piles, only white.
Shirley, two things illegal in Alaska are HMOs and those medical insurance rackets where you have to use their doctors and plans. They try to get you in roundabout ways, but those are strictly voluntary and not legally enforceable.
Been an afternoon of thinking & planning. More like "where do I start". No, Amy, city rules are RVs must be parked behind front side of house on a concrete pad. Not possible the way this house sits on the lot. I've been lucky to have it here this long, but because so many others in the area also have RVs or campers "breaking the rules".... we've gotten away with it. Makes me mad that if the area people don't object, who is it hurting? I will admit that getting rid of it will certainly change my life & attitude.
Stupid part is I could buy a big truck & put a camper on the bed & that is okay to park in the driveway. At least I will ask the question before considering. Can't move or would have to have Callie & Tiger put to sleep, I won't just go off & leave them to starve, they have always had their freedom. It is a lot to absorb when not expected. I've spent days sweating out getting tax papers gathered to take to the tax man! I do begrudge them every penny!
Patricia, I tried to answer your post but mine disappeared & after a lot of flipping it showed up so figured I'd better post & start over! I agree about those insurances that you have to use their doctors & hospitals. We've had one dealing with them & discovered what a scam it is. I'm having a "pity party" today so feeling sorry for myself being bullied and yet I do realize I still have it good, BUT by d**n, we worked hard & saved, nobody ever gave us anything! So there, will go hide in the corner & pout.
Good evening everyone. well Shirley we all have tose days and the older we get the more we have it seams, you more than some of us knowe first hand, you have lost your sweetheart. and only god knows why. I have lost severial due to my owen stuppidey. but god guided me and I got my first one back. I will kep her for as long as god lets me live.I had a good visit on the phone with my only serviving brother a while ago.he lost his wife this past year god took her home also. that is the only relife we can have is that we know god has took them to a better place with him. the worse the foul shows up the less I want to stay here, but god will have to get me when he wants me. we sure are haveing good weather here Lately.63º here now suposed to mabye get some rain and cool off tomorow. Good night and sweet dreams Hope to see you all tomorow. loard willing and the creek dosent rise to high I will.
Lloyd
We had a beautiful, sunshiny day here today...not real warm but nice anyway. Cooper and I had a couple nice walks and some of the neighbors were out and we greeted them and they gave Cooper a pet and then we moved on.
Didn't do a lot of "muscle" work inside today but got a lot of "mind" stuff done. Papers together, lists adjusted, phone calls completed...
Tomorrow will be a busy day so I better hit the haystack. It won't start as early because Frankie is off so Cooper won't be arriving but I have a lot of running around to do....the grocery store in the morning and then Cathy and I are going to the high school play to support granddaughter Kiran's work with properties to get it on!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Woke to the song of the crows this morning..3 of them were telling me they needed fed! No Drop wing yet.
Laundry and wrestling with dust bunnies today and bread baking not sure what else......maybe.
Jane ,mind "stuff" is just as much hard work as "muscle" stuff.
Shirley, back to Rialta time! They can't say anything about that I wouldn't think.
Patricia, understand about being tuckered and wanting to rest.
Sure hope Gloria gets her computer fixed this weekend. Wonder if Yvette is back yet?
Phyllis, good morning. Going to try a mess of 15 beans in the IP...cooked just in broth with some ham.
Better shake a leg and get on with the day..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Well, here I am, talking to myself this morning. I do a lot of that! Please don't tell the authorities or they'll be throwing me into old folks care! I do wish a good morning to anyone who shows up today.
The temp is only up to 25º so far today but "they" are saying it will reach 48 and sunny today and they are predicting temps in the high 60s and 70s for the next two days but they are also predicting rain!
I'm off to the showers so I'm ready whenever Cathy texts that she's on the way to pick me up for grocery shopping. I've had my first cup of coffee and I'm OFF and moving. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
P.S. HI AMY! You came in while I was talking. And you're right about mind stuff being as "hard" as muscle stuff!
Good Morning, AMY and JaneS and anyone else that showes up. the wether guesser Is all out of whack again.it is He/she saying 59º F and sunny, but it is cloudy cover mooving from west to east and gential brease on and off,as I am setting here watching the birds. I see no sun here at all. suposed to have raim moov in this afternoon. that is alright we ar verey dry here. I think we are going to sam's club today and do some grocery shopping. Have a good day everyone.
Lloyd
I'm not talking to myself because some of you are up and have already posted. I'm slow in the mornings...and don't really have anything to say until after I have breakfast, EXCEPT.....
Take care, All
We've done our WM shopping and the nicest thing about it was driving into the parking lot and seeing about a hundred pigeons waiting for a bag to break for their handouts. Pigeons always frequent the WM parking lot in "nice" weather. SPRING IS SPRUNg!
Bread is in the oven and soon delicious smells will be tickling our nose! I like the heels ,hot with a slather of butter.
:hello:
:cheer:
:angel4: :boots:  :walkwhistle:
:sleepy:
Good morning..
Going to be a rainy day here, temp is 37° at the moment. Just let weather dogs in and it is raining now..nothing like a wet dog that wants to be close to you! Getting into maple syrup weather.
A day of rest here. so playing in the sewing room is on target for today.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's supposed to rain here, too, today but not until around noon. Cathy is dumping me in my church parking lot and friends will bring me home after the service followed by coffee hour! My only other plan for today is a visit with Frankie and Cooper and wrapping the meat I bought yesterday. I try to put it in usable size packages and freeze it.
Now I'm going to finish my coffee and then get a shower and get dressed for church. I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good Morning AMY and JaneS, you two ladies seam to be our wake up call every morning lately. it is 33º and clear here this morning, we had our rain last evening, realy came down hard with plenty of Lightining and thunder. have not heard of no damage thow. well Nancy has gone to church. she left me a note and asleep in bed. I am going and get the same cearmin she is at on the TV live. and do not have to get upand go. I love people but am turning into a hurment Mabey. Have a good day just as you like it. I have taken My vitialstell and sent them on to VA. it is amazing how it can ask and tell you what to doo. and ask how your breathing and so fort is doing, just like they were setting here in same room and sent the results on to VA.with the machine. It is amazing how it can ask the right questions and tell you wheat to do just like you were setting in the docters office with he/she there. Have a great day,
Lloyd
There was no sign of the expected ice and snow yesterday, nor wind. However, it cooled down from the thirties back into the twenties, where it's expected to stay for the remainder of March. Spring is always a slow, sometimes volatile awakening here, and sometimes winter holds on with a grip.
There is nothing new here; my mornings seem to be a rush to get ready, only to clean and rearrange items from one place to another. Grocery shopping is beginning to be something to look forward to and be among others.
Patricia, I doubt that I would ever look forward to grocery shopping. It has never been a favorite thing to do. Even now when I order groceries on-line I don't like it much but apparently eating is something we have to do.
Take care, All.
Patricia, I also enjoy going to the store, seems to be my only chance to visit with other humans. I have gone out for 2 days without a mask, almost feel naked. :-[
It is windy here but not as bad as yesterday. No rain for us, Lloyd, so I got out the hose & watered the early bloomers & youngest shrubs. I can look down at the trees along the river & a slight green haze, no wonder the allergies/pollen is over the top. Main reason I haven't had a mask on, can't get it off fast enough to get the Puffs Plus to the nose! Where are you, Gloria? Do we need to send out a search party?
Amy, my snow blower is leaking gas in the garage so will have to drain & put away if we don't get to use it this week! I am ready to turn off winter...
We are in our 24th month of total lockdown in this city and this building. After spending so much earlier time on the lower end, we are in the red zone for the entire state ( over 200 new weekly cases, still!).
We are the vacation or time off place to come to for most of the state, excluding the S.E., and many come testing positive. Masks are de rigor here even tho not every place enforces that rule. We have a lot of deniers here, which is why I'm religious about wearing a mask.
The mall housing my grocery contains a bank, a Michael's, jewelry stores, clothing stores, and a piercer whose window I both peruse and shudder at. My other grocery store choice is in a mall devoted to teenagers. This is a wonderful place to appreciate your age and enough mirrors to check for hat hair or if those jeans were a mistake. This is why grocery shopping can take hours and is a great spectator sport.
Good Morning Everyone
from the drab and cold, cloudy rocky coast of
Maine.
Still Winter but it looks like things are going to
be warming up here in the next week.
Patricia...
( to clean and rearrange items from one place to another.)
This is the story of my life. When I am not
so depressed from Covid and the next World War 3
potentially in progress.
Bummer.
So today I am doing hand laundry (undies etc) and
cutting up boxes. I have to cut all boxes up
into small pieces before putting them in a plastic
bag and tossing the bags down to where they
pick up trash here.
And because I use Amazon so much I have
many many boxes to cut up. Amazon likes to put
box after box into one big box before mailing it.
Save them on shipping cost.
And consequently I have many many boxes to cut
up ... That is my complaint of the day.
That and of course that bastard Putin
raining hell down of countries bordering
Russia. Soon I bet he will choose to
get fighting with NATO Countries.
Damn him .. I hope he Croaks.
Days are getting longer and pretty
soon we will have to Spring forward our
clocks... ( humbig! :knuppel2: )
All is well here, although you might
never know it by my mood.
Not sure if I mentioned it but
I live with several families from Russia
and Ukraine ,,
Very nice people. So sad!
Sandy
:smitten:
Sandy, in the perfect world we should all get a vote on where & what kind of world we want to live in and just MOVE THERE, wouldn't that solve all the problems? No bullies pretending to care for the underdogs & packing all the money into their own pockets. All out in the open & everyone making a decision on how to run their little corner of the would should be open to public scrutiny.
Today my world is starting to cover with ice. Every time I look out the trees have thicker & thicker ice on the branches & still a lot showing on radar. My concerns go back to the year we had power out for 8 days. AH, but here comes Rhodie to brighten my day! I will take her out some bread, real fast since the rain/ice is coming down.
When I came home from church, I texted Frankie and she and
Cooper came over for lunch and then Cooper stayed here while Frankie and I went to WM. I only got a few things that I missed on my list yesterday but she did some pretty good shopping.
After she left, I did the Sunday crossword in the newspaper and then did a little cooking and putting away and by that time it was supper time.
We did have a little rain today but not much and the temp got into the mid 60s. I do think Spring has Sprung!
I'm kind of sleepy tonight and I'm thinking about hitting the haystack a bit early. Frankie got the same schedule this wee as last so Cooper will be arriving around 6:30 a.m. and he's wide awake and ready to go when he gets hereQ
I got a new soup recipe from a friend at church today. It's called Irish Colcannon Soup and I'm going to try it as soon as I can. It sure sounds good! I'll let you know and maybe post it in recipes. Has anyone ever had this one? The lady who gave me the recipe is an excellent cook and is always trying new stuff.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
well wehad a good easy day, but I am thinking about the same as you JaneS and hitting te hay soon also. good night and sweet dreams everyone. we are at 44º and partly sunny, so i guess you can say we are partly cloudy also, but it is dark and i do not see a star or the moon either so i do not know either way..
Lloyd
Jane, I come from an Irish, Scot, and Welsh background, and my mother made it often, it's a good stick to your ribs soup and we often had it for dinner after a day spent outside in the snow.
Good morning..
Overcast here with the threat of snow. Thankfully the high winds have gone down with no power outages in this area. The winds and rain yesterday did shrink the snow some but there is 2 feet or more in some area to go.
Taking Kyle to an appointment then pick up more lumber, then home to wait on a phone call. Need information on how to print of a shipping label with a company.
Chase dust bunnies and what ever else comes along is in order today. Friends came yesterday to pick up goodies and drop off goodies for me. Two jelly rolls in blue..now to come up with a quilt pattern for them.
Jane, that soup soups delicious..
Better hustle my bustle and get ready for the day..
Enjoy your day a stay safe..
Good Morning Everyfriend! Cooper is here, he's already eaten and he's telling me it's time for a walk. So this will be short!
PATRICIA, you and I have similar backgrounds but my grandfather on my mother's side added German to the blend! And since he lived with us and he enjoyed cooking, a lot of our recipes are German. He was also a baker who once owned a bake shop!
AMY we got some rain overnight and it's still wet out there but I don't think it's raining any more. I haven't checked to see if we're supposed to get any more today but if we do, we do!
I better get a move on! Cooper is getting insistant. Have a good day, Everyfriend!
Good Morning everyone. well my computer is out of date. it is saying yesterday. and it is 6:20 AM mounday march 7th. 28ºF and cloudy. patricia19 talking of blod Line. No german in me, I cant help it If my grandmother on one side of the house name was frike.HA HA but my great grand mother was full blod charcee indain, from stroud oaklahoma aeria and My mother was a smith born just a little south of bates city MO. . Have a good day.
Lloyd
well JaneS it looks like while I was typing you and AMY slipped in , so have a good day also both of you.
Lloyd
Like they say a Bad pinney always returns, Here I am. setting here in my office watching the birds flying in and out of the trees, and hopping dowon the ground I guess finding bugs to eat. I sean one bird I thought was a robbin, I called Nancy in to show her, but she thought it wasent a robbin But a blue Bird we could not see it close enough to see either way. but It Is still fun enjoying what god dose for us. Have a great day.
Lloyd
Birds are having a feeding frenzy here..trying to get their tummies full before the snow which is about an inch now covers their food.
Rick..... :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2: :knuppel2: the snow but it is still coming down.
Patricia, what is your weather like today? Son called, the poor boy had to shut off his heater......temp was 81°!!!
Very warm here yesterday, Amy, but that is suppose to change this week. Rainy, cooler, and the threat of tornadoes. Yes, it must be spring.
Take care, All.
MONDAY 🎶 MONDAY.....Good morning EVERYFRIEND 🦋 After a week of lovely weather, old man winter returned😩 The entire weekend was cold and snowy. Now we warmup a bit until Thursday when we get hit with another storm🤪🤪 Never should complain as we need all the moisture we can get‼️
My son surprised me yesterday with the news that he is taking me to see my dad this weekend. It is going to be a very quick trip, but a short visit is better than no visit. He said, "we need to go"! I just hope I can do it🤪‼️
AMY, my dad seems to be holding his own as far as we can tell, but his mate says he is going down fast....hence the reason we are making this quick trip to see him🙏😩. Thank you for asking about him🥰
We are with our grands for a couple of nights as dad had to travel again.
SHIRLEY, how sad and disappointing that you are being forced to sell your RV. Life is challenging enough these days without this kind of issue jumping in your lap😩
I am deeply concerned about the issue in Ukraine and so angry at Putin for starting this war on these poor people😩 He sadly, IMHO, will never back dow. He will continue to do what ever he can, no matter how many will have to die than to admit he is wrong 😩😩
Have a good Monday. 🙏🙏 for peace in our world 🙏🙏
Jenny
Jenny, hope you find your father better than his "significant other" thinks. Sometimes the caregiver runs out of steam & feels like a martyr, let's hope your visit will recharge her & him.
Found out last night the people that bought the house across the street & spent the last year remodeling also got a notice to move the POD from their driveway. It hasn't been there that long (few months at most, must have been in storage). I do feel sorry for them, things being what they are it is taking longer to get jobs done because of lack of supplies. Their daughter lives next door to me (Rhodie's mom) & I love to see them go back & forth across the street helping each other. Their only other child died last year so heartbreak to share.
I've been watching out the front window & see the birds & squirrels need a refill, must help them while it's too cold to hunt for bugs. We have another round of winter in a few days so gotta "make hay while the sun shines"... right? What happened with the old weather predictor, did March come in like a lion or lamb?
Sounds like all of us feel the same about Putin, but remembering history, think about how many Stalin killed/had killed of his own people to get things his way. The world did get rid of Saddam Hussein & Bin Laden before their terror went world wide, but Hitler had plenty of time to mess up the world before we helped stop him. I remember history teachers explaining the UN was going to help solve the problem, but the deck got stacked against freedom for all. Too bad a bunch of us old folks can't take control & clunk a few heads to knock sense into the dictators & politicians that are just plain greedy. And that's more than I planned to say this morning. Still below freezing & waiting for a call back from my tax man to see when he can fit me in. Want this out of my hair before starting on the motorhome. EDIT: Got the call & will face the tax man today & get it over with.
PATRICIA, I made the Irish Colcannon Soup this morning. Had some for lunch and it's great! Can't believe I missed it all these years!
Good morning, cool and in the mid-twenties here in the Interior. Slowly melting snow has that softer look, and the road has that pre rusty brown to slush look. We're to remain in the twenties all month, but since this city is bound and bisected by five rivers and the Interior has three major rivers, The Yukon, the Koyukuk, and the Kuskokwim, fed by thousands of tributaries that create networks of water connections through the boreal forest.
So, as much as I and others might wish otherwise, a slow melt is a good thing. Ice jams create floods that create damage and refugees, and we become their destination. The rich black glacial soil, old-grown forests, and all that water create all those rich and healthy crops prized so much. Spring floods and summer fires, all part of that ecology, are necessary but not looked forward to or needed by man.
All that current spring weather and animal awakenings you have south of us are what the Arctic sees in mid-April to early May.
Jane, Lloyd, my DNA, according to ancestry also says I have 4% Norwegian and 2% Swedish and that accounts for those Vikings raiders that loved the ancient Irish coast and rich monasteries with all that gold plate.
Jane, that soup is so good on slow cold, snowy mornings! Now, you know, it's a prime comfort soup.
Snow, rain, more snow to be followed by more rain. Not sure if tomorrow will bring a dance or skating?
Not a good day to be outside for any length of time.
Jane, when you find a moment would you post your soup recipe please?

Day is Done....
AMY, Cooper is going to sleep with me tonight and Frankie is ready for bed so I'll post the soup recipe tomorrow. I had another bowl of it for my supper and it was awesome! I have 2 more pints in the fridge!
We had a heavy rainstorm accompanied by heavy winds but the wind wasn't as bad here as it was on the other side of the mountains. Thank goodness for that!
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good night & God Bless from Kansas, too. Busy day.
Love y'all.......Shirley :smitten:
I saw this bit from Yellowstone about tourists seeing a "rare animal" crossing the road. It said Yellowstone might have as many as seven wolverines in the park boundaries. The article said they were very excited!
This was very strange to me as we have many, many wolverines in the state. They are known as devil bears because they are vengeful and have long memories. I guess I expected Colorado to have its own healthy population.

Good morning..
Music for the dancing is warming up.
Will take Kyle to pick up more lumber today at some point in time..
Not sure what mischief I will get into but I am sure I will find something. Still looking for a pattern for the two jelly rolls and hope to find one soon.
Patricia, aptly named "Devil Bears" They show no mercy!
Gloria, hope you are back in here soon!
Better get a wiggle in my giggle....
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's already in the 40s todayand supposed to reach the 60s by noontime. But just to keep us on the alert, Mother Nature is sending us some snow tomorrow. I have a feeling it won't last long on the ground.
PATRICIA, that's amazing about the Wolverines in Yellowstone. I've been there with my Girl Scouts 6 times and I never saw one. They must be new arrivals.
I have to "get on my horse" and get moving. Cooper is ready for his walk and I'm not dressed yet. I have beds to make and other "stuff" to do! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Hi AMY!

JaneS just scroled Back and see you are here now while I was typing. Have a good day.
Lloyd
Yesterday was a terrible day. I have a very large apartment complex a few hundred feet behind me and when I looked out my back window around 2:30 I saw huge flames shooting out of a third floor apartment. I called 911 immediately and they said it had been reported and fire trucks were on the way. It turned into a 3 alarm fire, trapped several people who had to jump from balconies. Several people were injured and hospitalized including a 5 year old child who died. An entire building consisting of 12 apartments has been destroyed. I think we had every fire truck and emergency vehicle in town respond. They fought it for a long time and even left some police and fire responders there all night checking to make sure it didn't rekindle. All we could do was stand at our back window and watch.
And then, I looked out the front window only to see an ambulance in front of my next door neighbor's house and another responder parked in front of mine. I watched them carry my neighbor out to the ambulance. I don't know what happened to him but he is in bad health anyway and I suspect the worry and excitement of a fire so close to us may have brought on a heart attack, or something like that.
Selfishly, I worried that flying sparks would jump the creek and threaten the woods close to our houses and then threaten our house because we are only separated by about 200 feet from the large complex but the firemen kept it contained.
It was a very upsetting day for the whole neighborhood and even more so when we learned that a child died. I feel so terrible for all of the people who have lost everything. I was up and down all night looking over to the apartment buildings but the police and fire dpt. were patrolling it all night long to make sure it didn't re-kindle.
I have nothing more to say except....
Take care, All.
Patricia, I saw that article & stopped to read. When we were there I jumped out of the camper every time I got a chance & wound my way to a spot that over looked the lake at those gorgeous Tetons, no thought to small dangerous critters around. We were warned to not even throw out dish water because the smell could attract bears. We didn't really have camp sites, just parked along the road they told us. The motorhome across from us ran their generator all night (against the rules) we had a little fold down camper at the time.
Lloyd, hope you get a chance to go but watch those tires. I was horrified when we got back from Colorado the last trip, ended up buying 4 new tires for the back & had the front tires replaced the year before. Had the front end alignment done & the tires still look new. Guess it's been 2 years since insurance paid to have a new rubber roof put on after a hail storm. Hate to sell it but don't want to put it in storage & not have it ready to roll at any time. I plug it in to charge at least one week a month & run the generator once a month.... do what I can to play safe. Time to get oil changed (once a year but usually less than 5,000 miles).
Time to eat... been up a couple hours already & nothing to show for the time. Been watching the birds, have a yard full of robins, snow birds, sparrows & cardinals & been seeing the little house finches with their red heads. So glad to get the taxes taken care of but am sad to have to clean out the motorhome to get rid of it. Gotta do what we gotta do, right? :banghead:  :dontknow:
Oh, my goodness, Phyllis, I had goose bumps on my arms thinking about your day! How awful. I would have had the same reacion of worrying about sparks flying. You are right about that could cause a heart attack... Take a Bayer 325 to take the edge off, works for me. Until they get all repaired you will be reminded every time you look out the window. Hope your neighbor is okay & so sorry about the child & parents. Take care of you.

Phyllis, --- Not a selfish thing to do at all. IMHO - A very wise thing to do. Who could be more vigilant than a concerned neighbor. Checking all night also a wise move. It is not uncommon after a big fire for a unit be left to monitor the scene and take care of any flare ups. Sad about all that suffered but mostly the 5 year old - never had a chance at life :(
Now - you relax and get your own rest so you don't follow your neighbor.
Good morning EVERYFRIEND 🦋
🥶🥶 out there this morning, but we have sunshine and the day is to warm up to 32°‼️ It does look mighty pretty with the snow glistening ❄️❄️❄️
PHYLLIS, I am so sorry and sad to read your news of the horrible happenings in your neighborhood yesterday. I, too, would have been concerned about the sparks causing another fire. Our local news covers the damaged homes caused from the wild fire on New Years Eve in Boulder, CO. SO many homes were under insured. They have not even arranged for any of the debris to be taken away yet....my heart aches for all of the many families involved. Last night they were telling of a man that was told by his insurance company that his home was safe enough to move back in and yet the particulates were so bad in the air he could not be in the house without a super duper fancy mask😡 How frightening. Can you even imagine living n your home with all of the burned to the ground homes all around you?
SHIRLEY, how sad to think about you being forced to sell your motor home? I understand why you would not want to have it stored elsewhere. 😩
PATRICIA, I have not seen anything implying we have those Wolverines, AKA devil bears, in Colorado. I will do a search 🔍.
AMY, I hope your shopping trip is successful today.
JANE, you make sure you keep a movng around and don't be letting and grass grow under your feet for goodness sakes🥰🥰
I wish you ALL a wonderful day.
Jenny
The day did not go as planned but so far has turned out nice. Snow was cleaned up,laundry on the go and vacuuming and floors washed. Kyle said to leave the lumber as we had a fellow wanting to stop and pick up one of his saws. After many emails back and forth we finally met the nice man behind them and he is now on the road home.
Phyllis, that would be scary and my heart goes out to the parents and family of that little girl. Life is so precious.
Jenny, enjoy your time with your Dad.
Better go see what I can get out of doing..didn't work that well this morning.. :2funny:
Good morning from the Interior. We did get up to plus 30 late yesterday afternoon so we'll see if it occurs again this cooler week. I had an uneasy, wakeful night as the snowplows worked the street below and the next one most of the early morning. This included periodically lowering the blade and scraping it down to the pavement. I understand working at night to avoid traffic, but what about those of us trying to sleep between 2 and 4 AM!?
Phyllis, I feel so sad for the parents losing that young child! How awful for everyone involved in that destruction. I know I wouldn't be able to sleep worrying and sad.
Jane, wolverines were once plentiful everywhere in North America, and now I find that they're endangered in the lower forty-eight states and Canada, rare except for a few eastern portions of Canada. They're not endangered in Alaska but their numbers are low. A wolverine, the size of a dog, can take down a caribou and can sniff out animals denning 20 feet down. They have long memories and will seek revenge.
There is a story about a trapper killing and skinning a female wolverine. THe male followed him for years, destroying his campsites, urinating on his food supplies, and attacking him at times. I'm not sure this is only folklore as wolverines never seem to forget.
Some other wolverine information."New information from genetic and observational studies shows that wolverines in the lower 48 are connected to populations in Canada and Alaska, these populations interact on some level, and migration and breeding is possible between groups. For example, wolverines in the North Cascades region of Washington are known to move into British Columbia."
"It is estimated there are fewer than 400 wolverines left today in the U.S. outside of Alaska. As with other animals in the park, climate change threatens the species. Wolverines make dens in snow..."
"Wolverines are perhaps the wildest of American mammals. How big are Wolverines? The adult wolverine is about the size of a medium dog, with a length usually ranging from 65-107 cm (26-42 in), a tail of 17-26 cm (6.7-10.2 in), and a weight of 5.5-25 kg (12-55 lb), though exceptionally large males can weigh up to 32 kg (71 lb)."
"Wolverines are found throughout the Northern hemisphere. In North America, they live in boreal forests, tundra, and alpine habitats throughout Alaska and Canada. The southern portion of their range includes alpine regions in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah."
I just stopped by to read and see what everyone was up to but I have to say...
PHYLLIS, what a horrible time you've been through today! And that poor child who will never know life! I said a prayer for your neighbor and I will continue to pray for recovery! I do hope you've relaxed a bit yourself!
My prayers and blessings to all involved.. Phyllis how sad with the child..
You did all the right things, neighbor included in my prayers.
Gosh take a rest now and our prayers will get all though this ordeal
Mycheal
Just dropped by on my way to the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happier tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Good morning..
Bright sunny morning with a temp of 5 ° F here. I think we are back in step with our day now, will go pick up the lumber a some half and half to make Janes soup.
Not a lot going on here....nice!!
Phyllis hope you had a better night with a sound sleep last night.
Enjoy your day and stay safe..
Good Morning everyone. we here In centrial MO. Have 28º and sunny sky Is compleetly clear and not a tree limb moving. the birds were verry busy earler but have went some place else now. I enjoy setting in my office and watching the birds feeding in our yard. yesterday morning A sall bird Landed right outside in the flowerbed picking up seeds. I sat still and quite it never seen me it fed quite a while there. not much activety this morning here with them. Shirley I get mixed ematoians about selling or keeping our moter home. Ourse is a clas A 32 feet longwith a large slide out in the liveing room aeria. the Insurance people told they were not going to tell me to quit drveing but they think it would be a goo idea. I woulld like to make at least one more trip to Floradia, and go dow under the pear and get some more sea sheals with live critters in them and clean and cook them on the beach and have a good feast of them. I probley wont tho but just dream about it, Mabey I can get some of the children to go with us on a trip. Have a good day and a better tomorow.
Lloyd
Thanks to all of you for your sympathy. There were large numbers of people at the burned out building yesterday....perhaps insurance people, also fire inspectors trying to determine what caused the fire. This is the second fire at this complex in the past month so I'm sure they are very concerned as to why two fires happened in the same complex so close together. The neighborhood is rallying around those who lost everything and, of course, special concern for the family who lost their child along with everything they owned. Red Cross is involved, also, and helping those who were displaced. My sub-division, Walnut Ridge, has put out a call for donations of anything that we can give....mostly clothing, etc.
I'm happy to say that my next door neighbor survived his heart attack. He was operated on immediately and a stent was put in place. His daughter says he is doing well. I'm grateful for some good news.
I still had a restless night last night but I will have a nap and catch up today. I tried to read but couldn't keep my mind on the story so I played a lot of Solitaire on my Galaxy pad. :) It is rainy and dreary today so won't go out for anything. I just hope that the severe storms and possible tornadoes that the weather people are predicting doesn't happen. Fingers and toes are crossed.
Thanks again for you kind messages. Take care, All.
I think Winter is making it's last effort to get us. It's snowing real hard but large wet flakes. It's not sticking and I think it has been, and is, too warm for anything bad. The weather guesser says it should continue for about twelve hours (at last guess). Today will be a lazy day - watch and enjoy the sight of falling snow, feed some critters, and listen to some nice music. I shale gladly worry about the other stuff on Tuesday (sounds familiar. Who said that?).
Good Morning Everyfriend! We're also having snow! It's laying on everything except the driveways and roads. Do you think Mother Nature is watching out for the drivers
RAMMEL, that sounds like Wimpy from the old Popeye comics!
I'm dressed and ready to be picked up for lunch with my friends from my former job. The gal who gathers us says she's coming and that the roads aren't that bad. So here goes!
PHYLLIS, I'm glad your neighbor is doing well and I'm glad you're resting today. Take it easy and try not to think. Solitaire on line is one of my escapes, too.
AMY, good luck with the soup.
Everyone, have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Wimpy's the man. :2funny:
Temp. dropped a bit and our snow is sticking on the non-paved surfaces. But it's still coming down hard with large flakes.
Just looked out the window and the red winged blackbirds are back!!! This is a nice sight to see...Spring did find us!
Next Sunday we turn our clocks forward and that will be so nice.
[color=black Good afternoon everyone. I never had so much trouble signing in. My grandson always worked it so no sign in with PW. I know he has one more time coming here for something and hope he gets that like I am used to.
Been a busy day. One of the CNAs I like was here and 2 batches of laundry done and bathroom all clean and sparkling again. Don't think she sat 2 minutes in the 3 hours she was here. We did have some laughs and teasing. My son bought me a round corned beef Saturday. Always liked the round best, no waste and makes wonderful sandwiches. I put it on to cook before Fran got here because I knew I would never be able to get it off the stove and out of the pan. After cooled some she cut the small end off and cut it up and we both were eating those pieces up, very tasty and tender. I have a nice Rye bread and for supper I will thinly slice enough for a sandwich with some tasty mustard, just a tad hot. Been years since we had the corned rounds here. Mostly the flat or point cut and full of fat.
It is now 2:47 pm, looked out the window and saw beautiful white flakes floating around. Went to the window and saw the cars covered already so must have been snowing for awhile.
Someone mentioned I must be frustrated I think I have been more than frustrated. Besides no PC had some lazy dirty looking excuse for CNAs one who came in and sat at the table, took out her phone and started playing. I told her to put the phone away and go into the bathroom and wash her hands, she said she just did. She said downstairs. There is a public toilet across from the elevator. Ok I asked what she touched on the way up. Door handles, elevator buttons the rail in the elevator, OK any germs on that stuff? No they all looked clean. Have you heard on the news all the reminders for everyone to wash their hands often to make sure they are nor passing covid around on their dirty hands. NO that is all lies, no such thing as covid. I told her to either wash he hands and do her job or leave. She left. I called the office and told them what happened. That was not the worse one either.
By the way it is my GRANDson keeping me going on computers When he was here Sunday he had his son with him and even at 6 1/2 first thing he did was go wash his hands And use paper towels to dry his hands and then use the sanitizer I have out for everyone to use That he has been doing at home for a long time and at school they are taught to keep washing their hands and using the sanitizer.
Almost time for my date on Skype at 4 so hope I can read a few more posts tomorrow.
LLOYD you and your Mom and family really had a hard life.
Have a good evening and sleep well.
Gloria, it is so good to "see" you. Hope your Grandson gets your computer running the way you want. Good for you on sending the lazy bones out!! I can't help but wonder how many other places she does the same thing......nothing!
The thing that keeps you logged in is on the LOG IN PAGE.
Gloria, --- There's no such thing as being too careful with this COVID thing. You do not want to get it.
Hello Everyfriend! And a special "Welcome Back, Gloria". It's good to "see" you again!
We had snow today! It snowed everywhere except on the roads. Now I know as well as anyone that the main roads are salted anytime anything slippery comes out of the sky but they do NOT salt people's driveways. And before you say that the salt from the roads slips into the driveways, a lot of the driveways out in the country where I live are gravel and I'm sure the salt doesn't ooze over into them. It just looked really odd out there!
I went to lunch with some of my previous co-workers. There were supposed to be 12 of us but with various reasons (including the snow) 8 of them cancelled. The four of us that went really enjoyed it!
Tomorrow Frankie and I both have a chiropractor's appt. She's the driver and I'm buying the gas. It's about a 40 minute drive from here and the skies are supposed to be clear. We're both ready for this appt!
Now I'm heading for the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one.
They're saying that we got 2- 4 inches of snow. I think we got about 3 inches!
Happy to see you back, Gloria. I'm off to bed so wishing everyone a good night of sound and peaceful sleep. God Bless. :smitten:
Good morning..
Overcast and a temp of 7° this morning. Have you noticed it is getting lighter earlier now in the mornings?
Picking up a few groceries this morning then home
,need to bake bread and that is it. Sewing may take in the rest of the day.
Patricia, are you hibernating? :)
Better get ready to meet the day.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning everyone. We did not get much snow yesterday but when I pulled the first shade up Wow I just wished I could push the window and the screen up to take pictures. The trees and shrubs are all covered in white and I wish I could get downstairs and out on the porch but pictures would be better from up here. Looks like a Christmas card.
JANE feels great to be back with our "family" here. Today was the first time I got in easy. Yesterday I remembered a tip I read years ago about dragging what I want for a start page-home page from the browser to the desktop. This morning when I started I saw the SS (icon?) on the screen and clicked on it and brought me right here to Jane's post. Glad at least 4 of you got together for your lunch. My grandson has at least one more trip here to get this Dell right. One thing he will do is print a copy of all my PW's. Have the list on the PC but does no good when you need the right word and cannot remember it or know it and it is refused. He remembers them more than I do.
RICK you were so right when you said 11 is for gaming and movies. I am not into gaming and why should I pay for a movie when I can get some on YouTube for nothing? My grandson has managed to get rid of most of 11 and keep the 10. I have another grandson who would love that gaming. He and some of his friends are into that big time and will be up most of the night playing online.
SHIRLEY I feel like I am alive again being back here with all of you. I have not gone back to read what I missed. I hope I don't miss something very important by not checking everything.
AMY goodness where have you been? I noticed back in January the mornings were getting light earlier. Of course the white shades let light in easier than the dark shades. If I left the shades up it would be like day light with all the lamps lit in the parking lot and on the front of the building.
Still have email to go through. Might catch up on everything one of these days. Sun is shining now and the sky a beautiful blue. With the white trees against the blue sky it is something I wish I could capture. The branches on the pines are bent down with the weigh of the snow/ice and even the bare trees are all white.
Have a good day, stay safe Everyone.
Good Morning Everyfriend! The snow is finished here! There's lots of it but not on the roads as I said yesterday. The air out there is solid white and the weather report calls it "frozen fog". It's supposed to clear by noon and the temps will be up in the high 30s so maybe they'll be right this time. I hope so because Frankie and I have to leave for our appointment by noon.
I have some stuff to do around here before I get ready to go! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good to see you back, Gloria.
Good morning to all who are up and functioning. I'm up but still not functioning too well. :sleepy: I slept long and hard last night so I am slow to wake up.
Take care, All.
phyllis MY self also.I am just up and in here My self @ 8;40 AM. good to see all you girls. well old mother hubbard is shakeing her feather bed hard, the gras is all but coverd, very few sprigs of gras showing throu the beautful white. Nancy said the weather guesser said we wre to get at least 6". if it keeps up like it is now we shurley will get at least that much. and we will have enough clean snow to make some good snow cream. we do not have any heave 1/2 1/2 or heavy cream in the house so will have to subtuaet some coffey creamer, but that should be ok. Have a good day everyone.
Lloyd
I'm like you, Phyllis, can't get all of me awake this morning. I sat down at the computer after feeding the cats & half asleep. Got more sleep than usual & even deep sleep, but I think mine is attitude. I'm sad about giving up the motorhome even though I didn't get to do much with it the last 2 years, I could have if I'd wanted to! Silly me. The world is in chaos, so many people suffering and I'm whining.
Gloria, so good to see you in this morning after such a battle with a computer. Wish we could tag along with Jane & Frankie for a back rub, don't you?
Need to make a grocery run, short on bread & I don't bake it anymore. Sure sounds good, hot bread & a chunk of butter melting into is. YUM! Amy, have plate, will travel!
Few snow flakes floated by but that's about it until later tonight. Most of the heavy snow is north part of KS but I can hope, right? We do need moisture.
Hope everyone has a great day. We can see people smile again with masks off. Almost feel undressed, don't y'all?
Enjoy the snow/cream, Lloyd. It has been 80 years since I had that! Probably last time was before WWII, cream & sugar was scarce those years.
Good morning from the Interior, It's 18 degrees so far, heading into the upper twenties. Yesterday and today, the skies have stayed white, and it's snowing, sleeting, whatever, but it's sticking.
There is nothing new here, but general housework and computer maintenance, re-aligning some folders and deleting others.
My life is fascinating these days...
Amy, I sometimes wish I could hibernate and pick things up again in mid-May. I sent you an email with a couple of quilt patterns I found in one of my craft groups. I don't know if you would be interested or not? Some in the group are rabid quilters and also some serious embroidery.
Good morning, Gloria! As Jane said, it's so nice to have you back again!
I agree, Amy; I first noticed when it was still light out after five in the afternoon.
Phyllis, I wasn't functioning yesterday; I got up at three fifteen after realizing all the snow equipment wasn't going to let me sleep. It was a very, very, long day that I spent doing many monotonous chores. I did sleep well last night and feel rested again. The more good news is that those of my friends who recently contracted Covid seem to be having more straightforward cases.
Good morning, Lloyd! I remember snow cream! I haven't thought of that in many years, but it was fun to make and good to eat!
Shirley, some people aren't masking, but I will continue to do so for some time! The last week's end saw 218 new cases!
Some days don't go as planned but this one hasn't been too bad.
Shirley, I made cheese bread this time. and one loaf is in the hidey hole. I make three loaves at a time, one to have, one to freeze (maybe) and one or two to give away.
They are calling for more snow here.bless their belly buttons! On the good side we are almost half way through March!
Patricia, Kyle will also be wearing his mask in crowds ,he has had 4 shots but better to be safe than sorry.
Better see what's for supper tonight. :)
Good afternoon everyone, well we hd a good snow, has all but stopped for now, but are supposed to get more tonight and tomorow. Nacole and youngest great grand son came over for a visit was a good treat. she took a large pan and went out and got some clean snow. Nancy made some snow cream. now that was a treat. Have a rest of the day good, see you all later.
Lloyd

Hello Everyfriend! I'm on my way to another haystack! Since Frankie and I got home from the Kinesiologist, I haven't been worth a "Tinker's Dam"! When I first started to go to Debra she told us to go home and lie down for a hour or so. I haven't done that for a long time but today, I had my supper and went in to turn on the TV. I never made it to the TV. The sofa beckoned and I answered....for 4 hours! And now I'm going to jump in the haystack.
My granddaughter, Courtney is coming up from Philadelphia some time tomorrow and it will be a busy day. Cooper will arrive at about 6:30.
I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Amy, I still wear my mask in crowds but the last couple times I've been to Sam's & even to church.... the spacing has been very good. At church they have one area where the pews are blocked every other one so nobody really breathing down your neck. I had my mask handy if too many people showed up. Allergy season has hit with full force so pretty hard to keep up with a drippy nose behind a mask. :-[
Patricia, we had almost the same weather warning but ours kind of fizzled out. Some parts of Kansas really got dumped on & had plenty of wrecks with it.
Light snow right now but should end in another hour. Every little bit helps & we have had fires all around so we welcome any moisture.
Lloyd, sounds like you had a fun evening with the snow cream & made memories with the great grandson. Family is what counts, isn't it?
Another week end, time is flying. I'm off to bed so sweet dreams and God Bless ALL.
Good morning..
It came in the night and even though it is very fine it is persistent in falling and gracing the ground. Not enough to start the music but enough to :tickedoff: a person off!
Work about the home today..will check to see if the dog next door needs his nails done ,if so will do that also.
Shirley as of the 21st mask wearing has been lifted but the Drs are still advocating those to wear one in crowds .We would dearly love to forgo the mask but with Kyles compromised immune system we will still wear ours. I do think it all just comes down to common sense. The masks sure have been great to wear in the bitter cold.
Lloyd, that ice cream sounds tasty!
Jane, hope you can coast today..
Patricia, the snow came this way. :(
Gloria, when do you get Yvette back?
Better get ready to meet the day..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! Cooper has arrived and has had his breakfast. He's now waiting for it to take effect so he can bug me to take a walk!
AMY, no relaxing today! I'm getting ready for company! My granddaughter, Courtney will be arriving from the Philadelphia area sometime today and my daughter Christy (Frankie's Mom) will be arriving either tonight or early tomorrow! Gonna be a busy weekend. They will all be spending the nights here.
I'm thinking of meal planning and working around whatever they decide to do with their time. And I better get on my horse and get moving! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.
P.S. we have "pea soup fog" out there right now!

JaneS enjoy your company, let them help you do not over do it.
Lloyd
Good morning everyone. 6:45am. and 28°. That beauty I saw from my windows yesterday morning did not last long. When the sun woke up it was warm enough to melt all of it by noon. Glad I woke early enough to see it.
The one who sends the CNAs out still does not know what she is doing. I am supposed to have 13 hours a week and some weeks am lucky to get even half of it. I had one here yesterday for 4 hours after the lady I had Wednesday left everything "spic and span" and gave me a good back massage. Some days she would send one for an hour and a half.
PHYLLIS Good seeing you this morning. You sound like me this morning. If it wasn't for Mother Nature calling me when I wake in the mornings it would take an hour for me to get out of bed. Long gone are the days I got out of bed as soon as I woke. Think I am lazy? No, blame it on the age.
LLOYD good morning to you. After years living in the country with all the clean snow in the winter I never had snow cream but did have some with maple syrup poured over the snow.
SHIRLEY From the looks of your post #127 did you sell your camper? The CNA I had yesterday gave me a good back rub. She was almost as good as Yvette at it. I went downstairs with Fran to help fold the clothes out of the drier. First day I was out of my apartment in 2 months. I forgot to put my mask on and when I took one out of the pouch on my rollator She said I did not need it anymore. She pointed out the notice on the bulliten board saying no longer needed but wearing one would be appreciated. I don't remember things scarce during WW2 but sure remember the rationing during those years.
PATRICIA Aren't you the one who used to talk about ice fog when you used to walk to work and did a lot of walking and picture taking.
It is great to be back here again. Odd we have never met except here and yet how when one is missing we worry till we know the missing one is OK. This time I was AWOL and I missed everyone here. At least I had a book to read so I was not having a conversation with myself.
AMY when I made bread it was plain white bread. When I was young I remember waking in the morning to the aroma of bread in the oven. My Mom baked it often. I enjoyed making it. I get a kick out of the ones who brag about baking bread in their bread machines. I tell them they are cheating and missing the chance to get rid of frustrations when kneading the dough. For years our last snow of the season was March 17 and we all know what that day is. Everyone got their corned beef and cabbage ready?
JANE I am so used to getting a log nap either in the morning or the afternoon depending on the time CNA gets here but with the crazy hours that woman has been sending the CNAs I have not had even a lay down to rest my back so today when I finish here I will lay on the couch with the TV just low enough to hear it and stay there most of the day.
Have a good day and stay safe.
Good morning, 13 degrees with clear, blue skies. The weather report says a cold wave is arriving tonight and tomorrow with minus fifteen temperatures. One look at that clear blue sky this morning, and I could have told them that.
Amy, we had that fine ice and snow from Tuesday night through early this morning. The skies were a solid white, and the snowplows went at it until very early this morning!
Gloria, when it gets minus forty and below, you have to plug in your engine block to keep it warm and working. Tourists are always wondering about those plugs coming from the car's front. Businesses have plugins for vehicles at all parking spaces, and it's a part of doing business in the Interior.
Your tires may freeze until they start rolling again; after remaining in one position. Locally, it's called square tires. The car exhaust, smoke from houses and businesses, and aerial industrial pollution freeze and become solid, called ice fog. Everything is better once summer comes back each year, short and sweet.
Good afternoon well I have had a easey day watchingthe TV. too cold in the garage to do walnuts. a later day will be fine. well I am going to post the snow cream recipie here below
( snow-cream
1/2gal of snow
1 cup of sugar
1teaspoon Vanilla
1 can of condonsed Milk.
I use a hand elitric mixer on low speed to make it smooth but Nancy justs usesa big wooden spoon and stirs it by Hand.
Good either way.
Lloyd
I don't think I ever knew exactly how to make the snow/cream, Lloyd, but was trying to think of how we kept the snow from melting while we mixed. Our snow is completely melted off today BUT it was bitter cold. I had to go to the street to bring the dumpster back to the house after trash men came.... had me all wrapped up but I was cold for quite a while after I got in, chilled to the bone. I went back out later to plug the motorhome into garage power to charge up the batteries.
Gloria, I do have a "For Sale" sign in the back window of the motorhome. I talked to the city person in charge of violations & she explained someone in the neighborhood had complained about the POD being in the driveway across the street so when she was checking it out she also wrote up a warning for me, have to call back the 17th of March to get a 30 day extention so I can sell it or store it. But today the same lady said she checked out & there is an excuse to that law, that from 1 April to 1 Oct the motorhomes, RVs, etc can be in the driveway because people need to load & unload or work on them, SO I do have the summer to think about getting rid of it. I know it's time, I have enought trouble breathing it isn't much fun going camping when it's all I can do to level & plug it in to the power post at a camp ground. When sons are camped next to me I love cooking for them, but they love the mountains in CO and not too interested in trips to MO. Anyway, I am now at peace with what I need do. My hopes of seeing the USA in my RV has come & gone, but that's life & I am grateful for having these 8 years of enjoying doing what I wanted. I have had a good life so no regrets.
Jane, hope all the kids got to your house & "nobody can get a word in edgewise".... such fun, but know you'll be tired when it slows down. Take care of you, I know they will all be jumping to help. Love the chance to cyber visit with your family even tho we've never met. :smitten:
I'm going to have a snack & get ready for bed. Sweet dreams & God Bless. Love y'all....
Good Morning Everyfriend! I didn't even have a chance to get on line to say "Good Night" last night. Good visit with the kids!
It's snowing here so they all got here just in time! We'll have a good visit today because they're not going to be running around too much!
I have to get moving...stuff to do before they all get up! I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning...
Not snowing out! but I do have a dance to do. :(
May meet up with friends this morning...will see .
Laundry to do and I had better get some baking done..
Jane, have fun with your family.
Patricia, we have plug in for our vehicle here but don't use it as it is in a heated garage. Yes, I have drove a vehicle with frozen tires or square tires or Flintstone tires, once they warm up it is smooth sailing.
Better get going..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning AMY and all else that follow. we are @ 12ºF and clear sky not a cloud in sight, no wend so far,not any tree branches moving. so I am going to stay in and stay warm. Have already taken my vitials and sent them in to VA this morning. I think I will go make some pancakes for morning meail. I had a realy good blod sugar so I can have a good batch of unclle bens log cabin syrpe on them. Our snow has melted off the drive way and roads have been cleared very well. so we can go to town and get shopping done safely, no skidding just carefule driveing. see you all Later. O yes I hope if any of you tried our snow cream you enjoyed it like we do and did.
Lloyd
Good morning everyone. A dark and gloomy one here. My son will be here for his weekly visit soon, Ha he just called from downstairs. Be back when he leaves.
Well Bill came in loaded with groceries and then there came Mike. Wonderful don't have both sons here together often. Mike just left and now feel like I need a nap.
Raining pretty hard now. Earlier on weather the guesser said rain/snow and mix. I know my back is not happy.
This is going to be short. I do need that nap and will get groceries put away when I wake up
Have a good day and stay safe.
Gloria well I have already had my Nap. glad you had visits from both your sons today. well unless this computer is short changing me again , you and AMY are the onley two in here today. good to see you both anyway. sun is bright here very little cloudy here and 24ºF and sunny. have a good rest of the day after your Nap.
Lloyd
Holey smokes the wind is blasting ..bitter cold when out in it too! Snow has been done but starting to drift now, thanks to the wind.
Lloyd, Jane was in earlier....scroll back and you will see.
Neighbours are busy so I got to go over and let the dog out and just now gave him his pill.
Good morning from an Interior with bright, blue skies, which means it's cold with no clouds to hold in the heat. Today and the next four days will be the same, with the evening lows the same as the daily highs except in minuses. For example, today will be plus eighteen with tonight, minus eighteen. Last week we were in the thirties, then back into the freezer.
Jane, have a wonderful visit with your family. I sometimes wish mine didn't live so far away.
Amy, as south as you are, I wouldn't have expected you to have the same cold weather conditions. I'll have to start using Flintstone tires around here. Maybe it will catch on. We don't commonly have garages in the city proper, although they're on the outskirts and suburbs. Some have canopies to protect from snow.
The city's center has a historical district where homes were built in 1903 when the city was first incorporated, through the nineteen forties and fifties. The first ringing suburbs and strip malls range from the sixties and seventies through the eighties, and the outer "bark" dates from the nineties and into this century.
However, urban renewal has been going on since 2015, first with sidewalks and roads and then with buildings on the outer rim. It's inching closer and closer to the center each year. My neighborhood is in the late fifties.
Part of Creamer's Field Migratory Bird Refuge is inside city limits because Don Creamer, the man who started it all, had a dairy in the area that he willed to the city for a perpetual bird sanctuary. It consists of forests, fields, and wetland habitats.
Their website introduction reads in part, "CREAMER'S FIELD MIGRATORY WATERFOWL REFUGE The 2,200-acre Refuge has forests, fields, and wetland habitat and provides ample chances to spot wildlife. The 300 acres of fields have a primary role in providing thousands of migratory birds a place to feed and rest each spring and fall."
I've been in and out a couple times this morning. Got enough sleep last night but was short changed a few days before that so making up. I had my nap & need to get jobs done!
Amy, we had that cold wind blasting yesterday & day before. Honestly, went through clothes like wearing nothing! Looks like we have NO below freezing for the next 10 days so time to put the snow blower in storage. It has been leaking gas in the garage so will need to drain it out & then run until dry to store. We have had snow late March & even into April but I think it's anybody's guess this year! I'm hoping we had enough cold days/night to kill off some of the bugs that made it through the last few winters. I just got (Amazon) the stuff my neighbor said they put in the nests for the chickens... Diatomaceous Earth/food grade, to puff into the cat beds to see if it helps their scratching. I had to check uTube how to pronounce it. :-[
Gloria, glad the boys got there at the same time, my boys hadn't spent much time together for years while raising their own kids but are now going to CO to camp every year. I wish I could be there, I love fixing breakfast for everyone, with a gas stove & oven like at home (biscuits & gravy, bacon or sausage & eggs, we don't go hungry) & then we eat lunch in town & they cook out in the evening. Some years Andy's son & friend join us the last couple days & also his wife if she plans to spend an extra week out there. The boys go off hiking & I try to get them to take a camera each, to bring me back pictures of areas I can't get to anymore. I can still see Joan rolling her eyes at my camping talk. ;D
I ran across an old WordPad with some sayings on that hit my funny bone.... so will share a couple. Can't give credit to where I copied from but at least it tells who said it! It looks like politicians didn't get much respect all through history!
A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have. Thomas Jefferson
We hang the petty thieves and appoint the great ones to public office. Aesop
You snuck in, Patricia! I hope your politicians don't do what was done here, over turned someone's will leaving land for a park & did something THEY wanted, maybe turned the land over to make money for the city. Don't remember for sure but would have thought that was illegal. If I'd been part of that family I'd have insisted it come back to the family if they didn't do as the will said. I am upset our government is leasing out the National Forest campgrounds & only get a % of PROFIT. I'll bet it works out there is never much profit. It was nicer when the rangers had full control over how the campgrounds were run.
Shirley, Kyle calls this a lazy wind...rather go through you than around you.
Shirley, Don Creamer died in 1974, and my sister in high school dated his son, so Creamer's is relatively new in the scheme of things. His sons had other paths to explore other than dairy farming, and Don had loved to watch and feed the birds in his fields. So, this was a good fit. He created the Refuge, willed it on his death to the city, and if its use changes, it must legally revert to his family, who is legally obligated to continue the Refuge as willed.
Kyle is right! I got chilled to the bone the one day & didn't think I'd ever warm up. We have lived in Kansas wind since 1960 so you'd think I was used to it. Always had to wear cotton next to the skin, layer of wool & then nylon to stop the wind. One year I bought the kids corduroy coats for winter & when I got ME one I realized what a mistake I made. The wind went right thru the fabric.
Patricia, sounds like the people in charge have to respect the will, good for all. I hope they put up a big brass plaque in his name, such a great gift! I love that you have "history" in Alaska, not just a newcomer.

I couldn't resist this head-scratching headline quote from the McClatchy News Service. It was yesterday's offering from my Senior calendar.

It could also be Immigrants. There's plenty lately.
Good morning...
Tad chilly here this morning with the temp sitting at 0°F thankfully the wind has died down.
A day of rest here ,a bit of sewing may get done. :)
Jane, bet you are enjoying your time with your family and will enjoy the rest afterwards.
Patricia, are they sure about that??? :))
Shirley, Rogers and Voltaire didn't mince words.
Gloria, your sons keep a good watch over you.
Clocks went forward and I want to go back to bed...hmmm maybe a nap later on.
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
Good Morning Everyfriend! As usual, I'm first up and even Cooper hasn't followed me! I'm having my coffee and relaxing.
AMY, about getting up earlier...maybe just go to bed tonight at the usual time...in your head, not on the clock! My dogs used to do that for me. They didn't abide by Daylight saving time!
I'm not sure what the plans are for today but I'm ready for breakfast whenever they all get up. English Muffins, Bagels, eggs, bacon and cheese sandwiches with coffee! Christy always helps cook and the grands do the dishes! Works out fine!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning everyone. Goodness was still dark when I woke this morning. Only clock I had to change. I had a surprise with both sons showing up yesterday morning. One changed the battery on the clock on the wall in the kitchen, I cannot reach it and then changed the time and battery in my alarm clock.
PATRICIA the 18 it is here now would feel warm to you. Must admit I am beginning to think global warming is here. It has been several years since we have had temperatures below zero. I remember back in the 1950s when there was a lot of old cars on the roads and in winter they had something they put into the oil in the motors and that was plugged into an extension cord from the house to make sure the cars would start in the mornings.
SHIRLEY I used to want to travel this country and see places I heard or read or seen pictures of. Never made it and if my daughter had not married a man from California I never would have traveled much more than 200 miles from home. I went to Ca. every year on my vacation and one year they took me to Arizona and I would have loved to stay there. Now they are living there and I will never get to see where they are living but I know they both love where they are and the peace and quiet and everyone is friendly and ready to help each other and refuse to take money for anything they do. They figure some day they will need help and others will help them.
JANE I remember how my 3 room apartment felt when my daughter and family came to visit for a week. It was a happy time for me and enjoyed cooking for more than just me and at least one day I would have everyone together and always lived where there was a back yard so had a cookout. Had a great landlord and family so they were invited too. They came to meet everyone but did not stay long. Once they left to head home my 3 rooms seemed so big. The 2 boys would pick a spot out of the way for their suitcases and never left things hanging around.
LLOYD I do need a nap every day and if I do not get one seems like I am half asleep till bed time.
AMY when I got off Skype yesterday I looked out and it was snowing hard and very windy, We got a dusting of the white stuff but it is still pretty windy. The sun is shining now but even looks cold out.
SHIRLEY I grew up in a city and moving to the country was a big change but I do not want to go into a city for anything now. I did not know what to expect the first time we went camping but I loved it being outside all day and sleeping in the tent at night. Cooking was easy and every thing tasted better and clean up was fast.
I gabbed enough this morning so think I will go have my breakfast.
PHYLLIS if you are looking in have a good day.
Have a good day and stay safe.
Gloria, while I was watching bird tv out the kitchen window I saw it!! Down it came, slowly drifting by the window.......a snow flake. We both know that a snow flake is just like a rabbit.........there are more about and they multiply! :yikes:
Spring is on its way..
Well, it is a bright sunny morning but it is COLD! Yesterday was miserable. Dreary, rainy, and Shirley sent that Kansas wind over to us. I kept my eyes on the trees in my backyard and watched them bend and sway. Made me nervous. The news showed lots of trees down on roads and houses and power lines in this area. We were lucky here...thank goodness.
Good morning to you, too, Gloria. I loved Arizona, too. We spent a week in Flagstaff while we roamed around the beautiful canyons in that area. Grand Canyon was spectacular but I liked some of the smaller canyons where we could hike down into them and be in some ancient cliff dweller areas. Fascinating place. I told Tom I could easily live there....but, too far from family. I used to live in Colorado so I love Big Sky Country.
Thank you, Amy, for NOT sharing your snow with us. :)
Time for breakfast and then I think I'll try to reclaim that lost hour of sleep later on.
Take care, All.
I'm back from church & breakfast with all that came. Nippy out but not as bad as last few days. I notice the flags across the river are blowing straight out so wind fairly strong.
My 3+ hours sleep isn't enough to a nap will happen. Callie decided it was time to go out but she looks miserable, it's colder than she realized, but she doesn't want back in. Tiger is in the bedroom end of the house & not willing to go out until she is sure I'm going to walk them down to the river, so I'll just join her in the bed!
Gloria, got a deal you can't refuse... I'll swoop around & pick you up "if you ask Regina when it's time for all the wild flowers to bloom out in the desert".... I'd love to be there at the right time. I've seen pictures. We can all 4 mosey around in the motorhome, cook & eat inside or out. Wouldn't that be fun? We can dream, can't we?
Phyllis, you grew up in KS, surely you remember the wind having tall trees going in circles! When we lived in the KC area we had a storm that had a tornado wrapped in it & I had photos taken back to back of two tall trees going in opposite directions. It helped prove to a man's insurance that it was NOT just straight wind.... so they paid for his roof to be replaced!
Amy, when we lived west of town I always started my tomato seeds in Jan so they would be ready to plant outside by March 17, even if I had to put gallon milk jugs over them. I cut the bottoms out & kept the lids to put on when it got really cold at night. I had the first ripe tomatoes of anybody (Burpee Early Girls, a month before the Big Boys). This year I'm sticking to the different kinds of lettuce & will go to the Farmer's Market for tomatoes.
Jane, "Hi" to all the family, such a warm feeling for all.
Good Morning everyone.well the sun is shining very bright here and IS 45º. I slept in Late. My cell phone has changed the time on it,s owen,we have one clock that will change the time on it's owen but will be a few days, no need to change as you will have to re do it again in a few days if you do after it makes up its miend to change. Have a great day everyone.
Lloyd
Good morning from an Interior at minus six, unusually cold here, another sign of the times. I needed a new vacuum, so I went out with friends yesterday and came home with a new vacuum and a new rug shampooer! Now, I'm broke ::) until next month, other than odds and ends cash.
I didn't change clocks last night nor yet today. I'll catch the three, coffeemaker, stove, and kitchen clock when I go in for breakfast. The bedroom clock sometime today, and the rest are automatic. There's nowhere to go today, so it doesn't matter.
For all you nappers out there, I envy you. I need to keep to an early to bed and early to rise sleep schedule, or I get all turned around. If I nap at an odd hour, it comes out of my nighttime sleep schedule.
Good morning.
We had a light dusting of snow overnight...not enough to dance to.
We are off to the city to pick up a few things, then scurry back home..
Will post more later..
Enjoy your day and stay safe.
good Morning AMY and all that follow today. I have already taken my vitils and sent the results to VA. It is amizing how that machine can talk to on dos and donts and send the results and not be conected to phone line's, just send through the air, and if someington is not right it signals some one at VA and they call me on the phone and tell me what to do. it saves us time and gas $$. hpe you all have a good day just as you like it.
Lloyd
Laundry day again. That seems to come around more often than I think it should. So easy for me to lose track of the days.
Sunny and chilly here. Nice to look at from inside the house.
Take care, All.
Phyllis, - Be careful that no one is sneaking their duds into your laundry :2funny: :knuppel2:
Good Morning Everyfriend! Cooper was an early arrival again this morning and will be all but one day this week. Frankie has one odd day this week and she couldn't remember which day it is.
He's been fed. I've been fed and we had a walk and now I have my second cup of coffee. I had to interrupt my time on line to go get dressed and go out in the cold. It's not as cold as PATRICIA has it or even as cold as AMY has it but it's pretty cold! It's supposed to start warming up tomorrow and I hope that trend continues.
The family has all gone home and I'm back to an empty house. I wasn't in here last night because after everyone was gone, I collapsed and only came to life when they texted that they were home safely. I went to bed early and even forgot to turn off some of the lights.
LLOYD, that's good that you don't have to get in the car and drive to the VA Hosp. They know if you need care through what you send them. Sure does make life easier.
PHYLLIS< GLORIA, AMY, PATRICIA, SHIRLEY nice to hear what's new and different in your lives. I miss you all when you're not here. I liked Arizona, too. Several years ago, we had a familt "girl" trip there and I loved every minute of it!
Better get started on my day...it's vegetable soup making and canning week. Tomorrow morning is an early dr. appt. so I want to get it started so it can simmer while I'm gone and be ready to start canning when I get home. I'm going to get the meat out of the freezer today and set everything else on the counter including the great big soup pot!
I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!
Good morning from an Interior at minus 23 with a projected high of plus ten and the not unexpected news that the cold wave will continue through tomorrow and Wednesday. No fundamental changes are expected through at least the 23rd.
We're having February weather in March. And those skies are cloudless, blue, and cold! The good news about the arctic and the cold is that no real creepy crawlies are able to burrow in and survive our winters, no roaches, chiggers, ticks, fleas, or other nasties.
Our reward is that brief beautiful summer with 24/7 daylight.
I was productive yesterday. I got the new vacuum and rug cleaner unboxed and assembled plus general upkeep. ::)
I spent most of my time housecleaning my computer files and rearranging and decluttering my computer. Today, I may even go so far as to turn the new vacuum on. 8)
Haha, Patricia, that sounds like the way I operate! I get something new & let it lay around for a while before I attack it!
Rick, I was about to send out an alarm for you... haven't seen you in here for a while. You been okay? My dumb robins have not discovered those delicious raisins I've been putting on the post out front but the squirrels did. Starting to see different birds migrating thru & now even a case of the bird flu in eastern KS.
Another windy day so will go use the hose to give those early daffodils some water, would be nice to see them blooming for Easter! Hope to get the sprinklers up & running tomorrow.
Better get moving, it's cloudy but don't think rain is predicted until Thursday.
[Shirley - I'm still here & I'm OK (In some ways :2funny: ) I'm still stuck with that old children should be seen and not heard. I've been as busy as a one armed paper hanger doing some legal juggling and getting tax stuff ready (1 month to go).
Our Robin waits for me to go out for the paper every morning and then chatters till I get the raisins out. There's a cardinal around but he's not as secure as the Robin.
Sunny, 50ish and calm today. Nice. Car is out for inspection today so will go pick it up soon. Hope they didn't find anything wrong. One year it was due for a timing belt so I had to dig deep.[/b]
Rammel,on your advice I checked my laundry carefully. No foreign or unauthorized "duds" appeared. ;D
BTW....I've noticed in my own backyard viewing of the birds. Cardinals are always very cautious. They will sneak up on the seed only in stages and are always looking around very carefully to make sure it is safe. That is probably wise since we have Red Shouldered Hawks and Cooper's Hawks visit the backyard frequently. The Red Shouldered Hawks don't seem to bother the small birds but Cooper's Hawks will prey on them.
Just adding a comment..Rammell. I would try putting the raisins out in my yard...but afraid the squirrels would run all other birds off...I love when my blue jays come and last summer saw a green jay...and I have the red birds also....they are all singing today..it's warm and spring like....
All of you are making me jealous...it's gotten up to plus one on its way to a high of plus ten.
Rick, it was so funny to watch our robin build her nests so she could see the front or back garage door for when I went out with the scrambled egg, hamburger & honey-wheatberry bread. She would swoop down when I went out, eat a few bites for herself & take bite after bite back to the nest to feed the babies. Now & then she would let her mate (we called him Toto, shades of Wizard of OZ, but in reality he had only 2 toes on one foot & struggled to stand) come eat with her. He came with her every migration the last few years & I think he did know she died. She sat by the front door (I could see her from my sink window) all day & went into a deeper sleep. When she finally fell over I stood watch so no cats came to get her & finally went out & put her body in a little box & buried down by the river. She had been with us for 8 years of photos so was a good friend. If you put short pieces of string out & robin picks it up, probably a female building a nest. Oh, the way we first noticed her was we put a tray out (remember those old TV trays on the long brass legs?) Had the tray part on the ground to feed the baby mallards & this robin kept showing up eating their cooked rice & leaf lettuce that was in water in the tray. Ducks needed the water to slurp up. She decided everything was better dunked! We would toss her a little piece of bread & she'd dunk it! We don't have to have vehicles inspected in KS anymore. Wonder why....
Had another round with the motorhome today, went out to turn it on to get mileage & no kick to the battery at all. That's a heart stopper, but this vehicle has another way to start with different button.. it uses the auxiliary battery & one push & started. I ran for quite a while but by the time Andy got here to check, battery back to about half what it needs to start. The worst part is I always put in Walmart batteries so they can be replaced where ever I happen to be & they don't have any, she checked all over & seems China is holding out???? Well, they haven't had a delivery of batteries for a while. That is super bad news with spring break in KS & MO (that I know of) & lots of people will be wanting to take the kids on a trip since everyone is tired of being home... & will be in same boat I am only I don't HAVE to go anyplace until it is replaces.
Well, I've worn me out today, picked up the sweet gum balls that fell since a few days ago, had a whole little basket full. Wed. is our warmest day this week so plan to wash my car & motorhome (poor motorhome is actually muddy from dust with a few sprinkles) & car has the salt & whatever the liquid is they put on streets, from the last snow. I have trouble "multi-tasking" these days, seriously, start something & finish or find I forgot to end the task. Which reminds me, I left lights on downstairs in 3 rooms, went down to turn on sprinklers so Andy could check them out. Need to make another trip down to off them. ::) Need to eat & nothing sounds good. I'm hungry for junk food but don't go out after dark. :-\
Long, Busy day and I'm worn out. And I have to be up and moving early tomorrow. Cooper will arrive about 6:45 and I have to be ready to leave by 7:30 for a Dr. appt. So I'm heading for the haystack! I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow. And may God bless us, every one!
Let's make a new start HERE (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=922.msg214794#msg214794)
