It's Time to Cry
Paul Anka

When somebody leaves you
That's the time to cry
When you know you're lonely
You're not the one and only who will cry

When your heart is broken
That's the time to cry
When you know she's left you
You'll know that she has left you
So you can cry

Happiness is what I long for
Loneliness is why I cry
For you have made my heart a slave
And now it's up to you

When somebody leaves you
That's the time to cry
When you know she's left you
You'll know that she has left you
So you can cry

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We're down in the low 50s around here and we're staying there.  That's ok with me for a while.  My two favorite seasons are Spring and Fall.  I wouldn't mind if winter would come, last a couple of weeks and then we'd have Spring.  I don't think that will happen!

Yesterday was a hard day.  Things happened that took time, energy and thought.  I hope today is a better day but I won't really know until Monday!  At least Cooper will be here later today to break things up.  He's a lovey!

I'm not going to get to any stores this weekend.  Cathy is going to be in Philadelphia for a special event.  And since none of you will be able to let the cat out of the bag, I can tell you.  He's popping the big question to his Sweetie.  And they know what the answer will be so they are planning a celebration.  Tori is very special and we are all happy that he's making her part of the family.  (Kyle is my grandson).

I'm having a "J.E.T." (AMY's name for Jim's Egg Thingy.  I like it!

We also had another new addition to our family.  My one and only nephew became a grandpa yesterday.  It's a BOY.  And they named him JOHN Wright III.  My father was the original John Wright, my nephew is the second one and now and now we have a third one!

I guess I'll try focusing on the good stuff that happened yesterday and put the other stuff in the back of my mind!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

With all the news of the storms that have hit Florida, I've had Jean on my mind constantly.  I'm so sorry to hear of her passing but I'm glad it wasn't due to the hurricane.

AMY, I don't seem to have your email address.  Could you email me something so I can get it?

I am so sorry about  Flajean.
She was long time friend from back in Seniornet days. She had been ill and in hospice for awhile and now she can rest.  But she will be missed.

Finally the rain and wind has stopped and we are fine.  Lots of leaves and some limbs down but our power stayed on and we didn't have any serious damage. Many others can't say the same. Neighbors just behind us didn't get  power back until this afternoon. It was a cold night for them.

I've been thinking of you, PHYLLIS.  I'm so glad you are OK and that you didn't lose your power.  We've had rain most of the day today but it was just a gentle rain with no wind or thunder so I don't think it had anything to do with the storms.

SHIRLEY, I had a bowl of your Taco Soup for supper tonight.  My granddaughter who lives in Westchester near the college, texted me that she'd had my chicken corn soup for supper and when I told her what I'd had, she said that might be one to try.  I told her the next time she comes up here, I'll have a jar for her to take home with her.  So your soup is getting around!

I'm getting ready to hit the hay early.  Cooper is staying with me and I'll have to tend to him before I get ready for church in the morning.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.

I am so sorry to hear about FlaJean, I knew she told us but I didn't want to believe her time was so short. Thanks for letting us know, Patricia.

Glad you came thru without any major damage, Phyllis, thanks for letting us know. I used to tell my kids to "let me know when you are okay so I don't waste my worrying"!

That taco soup sure fills all the diet needs for the day, doesn't it, Jane? Of all the soups I put in the freezer that's the one I enjoy most and don't think I have a single "tub" of it left in the freezer.

I am beyond tired tonight so going to bed right now. Sweet dreams & God Bless and a BIG thank you, Bubble for the great graphics & text.... "until we meet again............"

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's a bit cold and rainy here this morning.  It's not supposed to get out of the high 50s all day.

LLOYD, Nancy is right.  God won't take us until we finish whatever it was he put us here to do.

I'm off to the showers to get myself ready for church.  I'll have to dig around in the long sleeves to find something warm to wear to church.  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

P.S. Good Morning AMY.  I copied your recipe and I think I have everything I need to make it!

I've been to read at least half a dozen times today and start thinking about Jean and how many friends we've lost over the years..... or I get a phone call, the cat wants attention, have 2 kids "on the road" that call to visit every few hours. Or I just get side tracked and leave without posting.

Lloyd, these are the years that you have the most FUN by making someone else happy, Nancy, the kids & grands and now our great grands. Show them how to do things we thought fun back when we were their ages. It is surprising how good and happy we feel when we see the joy in their faces. Hey, fix Nancy's breakfast one of these mornings, you are lucky to have her!

Jane, I actually wore a jacket to church this morning & it felt good. Got fairly hot today (80s) but hopefully the "ultra-heat" is gone for the year.

Amy, I just did a search for finding places in MO to buy apples... picked fresh & ripe, not the rock hard ones from the stores. Used to be stores would have specials, bushels picked ripe & brought in with local truckers. Been a few years but I'd sure like to smell a good Golden or Red Delicious!  I'm heading to central Missouri for my class luncheon next week and hope to bring back some fresh fruit & veggies. Not sure why everything is so awful this year, brown & icky lettuce, etc. like what we threw away other years. I just can't bring myself to buy it so am hungry for anything green! Maybe I'll follow Tiger around to chew some of the grass she picks out! ;)

I've been sitting here quite a while so better go feed myself, getting dark out! Sweet dreams to all, God Bless and bring us all back tomorrow.

I did a few things today and lined up some stuff for tomorrow.  It never did get out of the 50s today.  I do think NOW Fall is upon us.  We might still have Indian Summer but that doesn't usually come before the first frost of the season.

I have a ton of pictures taken at the party they had for my newly engaged grandson and his beautiful bride-to-be.  She's a real sweetie.  They are going to be a special couple!

I'm heading for the haystack.  I'm so sleepy my eyes just want to close!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Lloyd, today would be a good day to make lunch and or supper for Nancy and let her rest her foot and ankle. Maybe get her to a Dr to see why this is happening.

Made a IP of beef barley soup yesterday....took more time cutting up the vegetables than it did cooking....16 min in the IP.

Jane, tried a new pickle recipe and will taste them today and see if it is worth passing on. Just make them and keep them in the fridge.

Patricia, how are things your way...any snow ?

Good Morning, Everyfriend....at least the few of you who were around yesterday.  I didn't even sign off last night because I was so tired I couldn't think straight.

Cathy came over and brought me new pictures for my family gallery.  She had a picture of the newly engaged couple that I could put over Kyle's college graduation picture and a photo of Natalie and Clint my Texas granddaughter and her husband of 7 years to put over her college grad photo.  Now that family is up to date!

I'm also getting a picture of Daniel, the grandson in Mexico who was married this past April.  This one will include his new wife and his new "son" by marriage!

I don't know what today will bring!  I'm going to let things take their own course.  I don't have Cooper today but Frankie said she might be over to use my bathtub to give him a bath and then stick around to visit a bit.  That would be nice because we haven't had a chance for a nice visit for a while!

I hope everyrfriend has a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  And I hope we have more visitors today than we had yesterday!

P.S.  AMY beat me in here.  Now snow here but lots of rain off and on yesterday and a all night.  Where was this rain in July and August when we needed it.  I'll be waiting to hear about the pickles!

Good morning, 33 degrees and clear at 4:44 AM. I've had some trouble sleeping lately with all of this end-of-the-season paperwork, and yesterday received six more letters asking for more information. Everyone ensures they get a slice of any spare change we may receive.

I almost fell yesterday simply stepping off a high curb and thought of the coming winter and problems navigating. I'm looking for something similar to a ski pole with only one, hopefully, retractable blade. A local sporting store gave me the number of a guy who runs a small sideline making canes and said he might be able to fashion a bladed one for me.

I also need to schedule a general physical to apply for VanTran, a handicap bus service, and for Senior Rides, one of the local senior centers' bus services. Both will pick you up at a prearranged time and return later to the pickup point; no side trips are allowed.

I had some sad news yesterday during our re-activated morning calls and texts. Two couples who live in the surrounding foothills are looking to sell and move into town after last year's record snowfalls and sinkholes in the hills. Another friend is selling their home and moving into one of the local senior centers in town. The record-breaking weather in the past two years has convinced many that they can no longer deal with road closures and no access to perhaps needed services.

Amy, the snow, so far, has stayed above 2000 feet. The trees have yet to shed their leaves, just reached full color, and the white winter clouds have moved in. We had a week of rain, ending midmorning yesterday, so I went out shopping for my essentials such as coffee. Unfortunately, I purchased a medium roast, thinking it was a dark roast, only to find my first cup this morning tasted like flavored water. Since we no longer have in-building donations, I'll have to gift it and go back to buying coffee beans and paying more attention when I shop.

Well, today had a few more posts than yesterday!

RICK, my daughter thinks I still shop and cook for a family of six like I did when they all lived at home.  I do cook large meals but not as often as I used to do.  And I eat the same thing two days in a row and freeze a couple of meals for when I don't feel like cooking!

Today was a pretty productive day even in the rain.  We've had it since sometime yesterday, all day today and it's supposed to continue through tomorrow.  I don't HAVE to go out in it because Frankie has today and tomorrow off so I don't have to deal with Cooper's urges.  She did come over today and visited and gave him a bath.  She only has a shower at her apartment and it's hard to contain him.

Cathy and I went to the library and then stopped at Davy's on the way home so I'm all set to cook and eat!

I'm going to go read a couple chapters and then head for the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.

May you have a rewarding Yom Kippur, Bubble!

My biggie for the day was cooking a chuck roast that really hit the spot. Ate so much I was a zombie the rest of the day. Picked up my new sunglasses today & do think they are much better than the old ones, but still don't know why the "factory" canceled the regular ones ordered first. They didn't explain why but the guy at the lens department thinks they can't do just a little tint & that is what I miss on this pair I got right after cataract surgery.  My eyes have always been light sensitive & really hurt since removing cataracts.

Jane, I also cook for an army & do pretty much what you do about eating & freezing. My youngest son comes by to visit once a week & instead of eating WITH me he takes home food to eat later or even take for his lunch. He "works out" every night because he has a sit down job & needs the exercise, can't do that on a full tummy, he says.

Amy, I'm surprised to see quite a few egrets & herons still hanging around. The big clusters of them have gone south but the birds are confused this year. I still have 3 robins I saw yet today, they sort of come when I go out. I'm pretty sure 2 are the last ones raised over the light fixture in the pool area. The parents were here the day one flew out of the nest & the last one didn't fly out until nearly dark and I think the parents were gone next morning & forgot to tell the babies about migrating!  Not sure where they picked up the 3rd one but they stick together.

I'm still planning to go to my class luncheon in MO this week end, not sure if I'll go on the the lake for a night or two or just come on home. Supposed to be much cooler (which I will love), but no reservations after Oct.1 so kind of iffy about getting a good site. In central MO the Lake of the Ozarks joins Truman Lake at Warsaw & is a favorite spot for anyone that enjoys fresh air. I prefer going during the week when not crowded will just see how it works out. This will be the first time to only have one cat to take along.

Thinking of your barley soup, do any of you remember when raising our babies & I think it was Gerber that came out with a "4 in 1 cereal" for the babies?  I tried in on my first (we were in England) and she broke out from head to toe.... the doctor thought it was the barley in the cereal so never fed it to her again & bumps went away. I've never fixed anything with barley again! True!

Past my bedtime again. Wishing all sweet dreams and God Bless.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem for a while.  I had my breakfast and my first cup of coffee and I put a load of towels in the washer and went out and filled the bird feeder and washed up a few dishes.  Now I'm waiting to put the towels in the dryer.

It's still raining out there and it's only 49º out there and heading for a high of 69 but the rain is supposed to stop by mid-morning.  In addition to the towels in the washer, I'm planning to make and can a quadruple batch of AMY's hot mustard and make a supper that Frankie likes in the hope that she'll stay for supper.  She said yesterday that she might spend the night.  That means that I'll have a canine bedfellow tonight.  I like that idea!

LLOYD, part of my plan for today includes some time in the easy chair with a book in my hands.  I have another spy story to read and it's already started off with a lot of mystery!

SHIRLEY, I have a beef roast to do in the crock pot and I'm thinking this might be a good day.  Frankie likes pot roast.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

I do not know what i have done to my left ear,but it is so sore that I can not weare my hearing aid in it. well our humming birds have disseaperied, (that is a sad note for us) Nancy and I bouth enjoyed watching them. I guse they went to find a cooler place. If Nancy would go with me i think I would get  the moter home started and limp into the tire shop and get the outside dual tire on the back fixed and join them. it is hotenough that the greaat grands are not outside either. olney animail I see working on the floures Is a bumble bee. very Lght brease hardley mooving the flour or tree leaves. the VA nurce called and said for mt to increase my inslain shot from 14 to 16 . and said she is put in a request to change the type of inslen, I do not reamber what type she said. she said she would call me back with the chenges and when to come up to VA for a class on the new type. have a good day rest of and a better tomorow.

Time to turn in for the the night.  RICK, I don't know if you're asking if the computer is running slow or the people aren't showing up but whatever you meant, I'm with you...no people all day and a very slow website!!

I'm off to the haystack.  I didn't get the mustard done and Frankie and Cooper didn't show up.  My day didn't pan out as planned but I did get some stuff done!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

If anyone has the email addy, please send it to me.

Good morning,
Yesterday was a whirl wind of a day. Off to the city for Kyle's appointment to get his hearing cheacked...then a gap in time till we both got our eyes checked.
I did some shopping in Costco and then we waited in the van till appointment time. Everything is good for us in the eye department. Met up with Bri and we exchanged items..she gave us fresh buns she had made for Kyle along with a gift card for his birthday today. She also gave us shotgun shells she had made and they are so delicious!!
I was  more than ready for an early night but knew the dogs weren't but right after supper it was shower and pj time .

Not sure what today will bring I do have a long list of work I want to do outside,, have a begonia slip that needs to be potted and the list goes on.

Shirley, every time we head to the city I check out the osprey nests to see if the ospreys are still here and they are.

Rick... :2funny:  good one!!

Yes, the site is slow...not sure why but it is.

Better get a hitch in my get a long and start the day..seems they slip by too fast anymore.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!

RICK, where is that mustard that needs cutting?  My problem isn't that I can't cut it.  It's more like, I can't find it!

I'm having trouble typing this post.  It keeps disappearing.  I don't know if I'll have anything to post when I finish so I'm going to quit and try posting.  Have a good day!

Can't find what  :tickedoff:

Mustard seed is very small, and when you find it you will have difficulty cutting it.  Do two or three at a time.

Amy, I had my hearing tested again last month and was unhappy to learn that it has deteriorated even more.  Down to less than 25% of normal hearing.  I knew I was having a lot of trouble understanding what was being said but thought it was an old, hearing aid that I had worn for too many years.  The audiologist re-adjusted the level but since it was 10 years old I decided to get a new one.  I got it with Bluetooth to connect with my cell phone and I am really loving it.  I'm hearing sounds that I haven't heard for years.  I actually heard my floor clock ticking.  At first I couldn't figure out what that sound was and finally realized it was a sound I hadn't heard for so long I couldn't identify what it was.

Phyllis, that is the same hearing aid my neighbour has and she also loves it!! Phones are Kyle's nemisis ,he has one from the audiologist but he has trouble with that one.

Happy to read you are pleased with yours.

So far my hearing is alright.

Today was a gorgeous day around here!  Cooper and I took 3 walks...the third one only because it was so nice out there we couldn't stay in the house.

Rick, I try to concentrate on those little seed the next time I try "cutting the mustard".  Thanks for the advice.

AMY, today I finally got my quadruple batch of mustard made and canned so I'm ready for whatever happens.  When I can it, I just leave it in the canner long enough for it to get hot enough to seal the jars, about 5 minutes does it.

I've been taking time out to read my library book.  It's a thriller, hard to put down.  But I did get some other stuff done too.  Now I'm heading for the haystack because Cooper will be arriving before 7 a.m. tomorrow and he usually comes without his breakfast and without his first walk of the day.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Overcast here this morning . Will try to do what didn't get done yesterday. I have an outside window that needs its face washed also.

Covid and influenza has reared it ugly head back up here. We are to get our 5th shot on Tue....right after our Thanksgiving.

Jane, you have a lot of mustard now and can really "cut the mustard" I will also mix a bit of mustard with honey and a dab of mayo to dip chicken strips in. Today I am taking breaded chicken and vacuum sealing them to freeze. Nice to just be able to pick out a package and put them in the air fryer to heat up..

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning Everyfriend...those who have been here and those who are missing.

LLOYD, that was a pretty smart little boy!

AMY, I miss a little mustard, mayo and spices and put it on a cut up tomato and that's my lunch lots of days.  Didn't think about adding a bit of honey.  Maybe I'll try that next time.

Cooper arrived, had his breakfast, shared mine, waited while I got dressed and we went for a DOUBLE walk this morning.  We got back to the corner where we would turn to go home and he chose to go straight so we went around the OTHER circle, too.  I have my second cup of coffee and he's conked out on the sofa.  Guess it tired out both of us.

Looks like someone fixed up this place.  I got right in this morning and it's not "pushing me around" and making me wonder if I'll lose my post!

PHYLLIS, I missed your birthday, too.  SO....

I thought sure I posted here yesterday, but do not see it😩

Anyhoo......I am up to speed on all of your news.....

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES to Mr. Kyle.

I did send you a message, PHYLLIS, but just incase you did not see it.....I hope you had a wonderful day and best wishes for many more to come🦋🦋🦋

Oh does that mustard ever sound yummy....anything with extra taste right now excites me.  Getting a bit bored with our keto diet. 🤪🤪

It has been a busy week.  We had our yearly physicals on Tuesday.  Our Internists is totally against our Keto Diet. Oh Lordy.....now what do I do?  One of my doctors will NOT be happy with me.

Yesterday  I saw the cardiologist and found out the results of my Holter Heart Monitor.  All is good......nothing in it that concerned the doctor🤪🤪. That pretty much finishes up all the scheduled tests to see WHY I need supplemental oxygen.  My cardiologist still wants me on a CPAP for six months to see if it will help.  Oh my.....so over all of this. I appreciate all they have done for me......I am certainly thankful they have not found any health issues.....but now what?  Without a doubt movng to a lower altitude would be beneficial.....but that is not a easy decision to make.  We are needed her to help support Dr. Dave and the children🤷

So happy our site here is up and running fine again.....thank you, Michael‼️

Have a great day.

Jenny

Except for about an hour and a half when I was reading my book, I've been on the go all day!  It's been a beautiful day and I've been in and out all day with Cooper for walks and feeding the birds and sweeping off the two porches.  Did a lot of putting away inside and and outside.

Now I'm ready for a shutdown.  So I think I'll take my book and read in bed until I'm too sleepy to keep my eyes open.

JENNY, nice to see you!  You have some tough decisions to make.  I'm sure the altitude is contributing to some of your breathing problems.  We all do what we must!

I had some tough medical news from my Okla daughter these last couple days but it looks like things are going to be Ok for her.  She spent a couple days in the hospital and is now home with a medicine to take regularly.  It was a bit scary but I think it's going to be all right!

AMY,  I forgot to wish KYLE a happy day so...

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY, KYLE!  AND MAY YOU CELEBRATE MANY MORE!

Now I'm off to the haystack with my book!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Amy, you beat me to it! I had an entire post planned with a "Bet you wish you were here" headline!

Special Weather Statement issued October 07 at 3:14PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks

...A Mix of Rain and Snow Across the Interior Saturday afternoon into Sunday...

A strong front will bring a mix of rain and snow is expected across the Interior Saturday afternoon into Sunday. Precip will begin over the western Interior on Saturday then push across the Interior on Sunday. Precipitation could be heavy at times on Sunday. At valley level, such as in Fairbanks, most of the snow should melt as it hits the ground but less than an inch is possible at valley level. At elevations above 1000 feet, between 2 and 4 inches of snow accumulation is possible, especially along the Elliott and Dalton highways. Up to 6 inches in the Alaska Range. West winds gusting to 30 mph over summits are possible on Sunday. Turning colder Sunday night into Monday.

I'm back!  And Cooper is here and he's begging my lunch!

I made that potato soup recipe that you put in the Recipe forum.  Since I was already into it and discovered two things I didn't have and had to make substitutes, I'll have to let you know how it turned out.  I'm thinking that what I used won't make a lot of difference but I won't really know that, will I?  I will know if it tastes good, though.

Please keep the snow in the "nether" regions for now.  I'll take it on Christmas Eve after I get home from church.  I might take one more sometime in November but not Thanksgiving weekend, please!

I'm going to can some apples (maybe) this afternoon.  And I HAVE to read some of my book this afternoon.  It's getting suspenseful!

Enjoy the rest if your day...AMY, PATRICIA, LLOYD and anyone else who drops by!

Got the email, AMY.  I haven't done the apples yet but I'm thinking about doing them in bite size chunks.  Do you think that would work?

I made that potato soup today and it was scrumptious.  I had to make a couple of changes but they worked.  I don't know how different it tastes but it sure does taste um-um- good!

Cooper is spending the night with me.  We're doing a trade-out.  My son and DIL are away for the weekend and Frankie is looking after their doggie and I'm looking after her doggie.  Seems reasonable to me!

I'm going to take him out one more time tonight and then get ready for bed!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one

Not sure how this works, off in a campground in MO but be home tomorrow if nothing else goes wrong. Side door lock won't open, we've replaced it before but sure in inconvenient trying to haul bags of trash out the driver side door and really an extra effort with an ailing cat that likes to lay in her bed right over the driver's seat.  Poor baby, she been showing signs of last days but hoped the trip wouldn't push her over the edge. They always hate the drive but love the scenery when we stop. Did get to my class reunion/luncheon and do think probably my last to drive so far. To make matters worse, my cell won't let me answer part or most of the time, don't know why but betcha one of my kids will figure it out. This iPadPro has cellular (sp?) thanks to my daughter, they try hard to keep track of me. My son wired the house with cameras that notify me on the iPad with a dingdong as well as lets him know, in all directions, video that goes on forever. Even with all that protection I don't like shouting to the world I'm going to be away until I am almost home. The house was broken in the first year we lived in it so always uneasy about leaving.

Happy Birthdays to Kyle & Phyllis, and think Amy will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day tomorrow, right?  I had hoped to find fresh picked apples and tomatoes today but no running around for me. It got super cold last night & while COLD is my fav weather, I didn't bring a winter coat so kinda chilly all day. Have warm jammies & robe so didn't get out of them & didn't go out for a walk. These Corp of Engineer campgrounds have power & RV has TV, I always bring enough food for an army so sung as a bug in my own world. Well, I don't know how to enlarge text or color on the iPad so doubt if y'all want to read the tiny. That's all for now!

AMY, I don't have a lot of apples, just some that need to be dealt with and when I use them, the chunks will work best.  Thanks for your answer.  ALSO"

Friends are stopping in for a bit then on their way home before traffic gets nasty.

Better get busy and peel veggies and  season ribs..

Good morning, I'm up; Farrah's fed and my coffee finished brewing. I took one load of laundry down the hall with two more to follow, and that, plus more paperwork, will be my day.

Amy, I'm sorry I neglected to wish Kyle a happy birthday and you both a happy Thanksgiving! I'm hoping things will soon begin to settle down for me.

Phyllis, I'm also apologizing for not wishing you a happy birthday earlier; 93 is quite an achievement which MaryPage on Norm's also shares. I hope your birthday was, as Lloyd says, just as you liked it.

It's 39 degrees so far, ten degrees warmer than expected, and while there is extensive frost, the snow has yet to appear here or below 2000 feet. Jeanne P showed up at Norm's and said she was feeling good, just depressed with the usual senior ills.

I hope everyone is having a good day!

You don't need to apologize, Patricia.  Thank for the good wishes.  Yes, it was a good day.

Now I am apologizing for a late Happy Birthday to Kyle and Happy Thanksgiving to both Kyle and Amy.

Take care, All.  Maybe I will post more tomorrow when I don't have to text it.  Texting is not easy for me.

We didn't have the Sunday cooldown that both the weather reports and Farmers Almanac predicted. We gained fifteen degrees. The other day, snow clouds drifted right over us and into Canada's Yukon; oops...

Yesterday and today, we had rain clouds but no real rain. Then around eleven AM, it started with rain that quickly turned to hail. I can count on three fingers the times I've seen hail here. So, we expect another record-breaking year as in the last four.

At 3:30, that hail turned into light-blowing snow mixed with rain.

I've spent the afternoon re-arranging, re-organizing, and tossing my clothes and night clothes. There is a lot that I had forgotten about, and since donations aren't available in town, even the recycling plant has closed, so what I don't want and don't plan to toss is going into one of my plastic totes.

And now, back to work.

Gosh, I am stuffed! Only have myself to blame :(
We are to get another frost tonight so I had better bump up the furnace.

Phyllis and Patricia, thank you, will tell Kyle of your Birthday wishes..and thank you for the Thanksgiving wishes.

Jane, thank you for the Happy Thanksgiving...apple chunks should also work. I know I was pleased at the way the slices turned out...still white and crispy!!

I'm off to the haystack!  Cooper is spending the night again.  Frankie didn't get off until 7:30 tonight and she has to be in at 7 a.m. tomorrow.  She didn't feel so good and thought she needed the sleep if she was going to make it to work tomorrow.  If she doesn't go, she'll be around when she's up to pick him up.  So I have a bedfellow tonight.

I really can't tell you what I did today other than a long phone chat with my sister and finishing my library book.  There was a lot of other stuff but it didn't register.  I didn't get the apples canned but I think I might need to pick up a few more tomorrow before I do them.

I did have another bowl of AMY's (adjusted) potato soup and it's still yummy!  And I made a pretty good chicken supper.

Now, I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Will give the Rex his pill and feed both he and Callie. I left the tv on for them last night, not just them but to let on someone was home.

Will continue with jobs that didn't get done yesterday...and not all will get done. :) We can have a repeat of what we had for supper tonight and I still have haluska leftover.

Crows, blue jays and the odd robin have been coming.Fiesty blue jays will even pick on the bigger crows! Have yet to see many flocks of geese going over head and it has been a while since we have heard the loons calling.

Better get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning AMY and LLOYD and anyone else who shows up.  The coffee is ready and so is the tea.  You'll have to do your own sodas.  I'm not into that.

Cooper and I have had our breakfast and a LOOOOOOONG walk and have taken care of his "business".  Now he's curled up on the couch and here I am.  When I finish here, I'm going in the kitchen and peel and core the apples I have.  I waited too long and one of them decided to leave me.  When Cathy and I go to WM this afternoon, I'll pick up a few more and then the apples will get done tomorrow....I hope!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; Half past eight, and I'm getting a late start this morning after a restless night. We had snow this morning, but it's only on the grass and rooftops. It is thirty degrees presently, and our low tonight will be twenty-five.

To me, four hours behind, timewise, I always get a kick out of your morning posts. I imagine everyone scurrying around between one and three AM doing dog walks, household chores, and drives, then retiring between four and six PM in the afternoon. I can't remember if we're having time changes this year. It seems to me the time change was nullified, but I can't remember.

I was looking at a site that provides cat products, and it was discussing shipping issues worldwide. Many people don't realize that Alaska has volcanoes and is part of the ring of fire, along with Hawaii, Japan, and others. Volcanic eruptions affect air travel as well as other issues.

I found this note, "Alaska? Hawaii? Your packages are going via USPS; cross your fingers that no volcanoes blow up this year."

We went to WM and I got my hair cut and while I did that, Cathy took care of both our shopping lists.  Then we went to the library.  We forgot it's closed on Monday!  We came back home and Cathy loaded up Cooper and dropped him off at Frankie's house so she didn't have to come out and get him.

After I put away the stuff from WM, I put away some leftovers in the fridge for an early supper.  Then I finished off canning the apples.  It was a pretty productive day!

Now I'm going to do a few odd jobs and hit the hay early tonight.  Tomorrow is laundry day and I think Cathy said something about going to the Amish grocery store.  Another busy day!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good Morning AMY, LLOYD and anyone else who stops by today.  I slept pretty good last night and I actually feel rested.  I'm up and attem...had my breakfast and the first load of laundry is in the washer.  In fast, I think it's already in the second spin cycle.

Right now, it's 41º out there but it was down into the mid 30s overnight.  I think it's teasing us and one of these nights it going to dip into the freezing zone.

LLOYD, I think the government can devise ways of getting at our savings no matter what we do!  If they want our money, they get it!

I think the washer is emptying out right now so this load will have to go to the dryer and another one go in here!  And we're off!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning, It's 6:53, 28 degrees, and pitch black out my window. Today will be another busy one as I'm waiting to get my trekking poles assembled, paperwork into the office, and more mailed out.

Amy if only  Pavlov and Bogoslof and others behaved themselves. They and others have, at times, disrupted air travel, sending ash 35,000 feet or more into the air while commercial planes fly around thirty thousand feet. "McNutt said 90% of air freight from Asia to Europe and North America flies over Alaska air space, and hundreds of flights – including more than 20,000 passengers – fly through Anchorage's air space daily.

"If there is an explosion and (ash) reaches high altitudes, it will cause flights to be rerouted and ultimately canceled," McNutt said."

Alaska has 130 volcanoes, of which 90 have been active in the last century or are presently rumbling.

I posted photos showing the last thirty days, during which we went from minor leaf colors to vibrant colors, falling leaves, and then snow. That has to be a record for us.

Could someone remind me how to change my profile picture, please? Also - where are you finding the initials?

Our weather bounces from needing the furnace to turning on the a/c.  Part of it for me is that I have large windows on the west and the afternoon sun makes it almost hot - and stuffy.

Patricia, I didn't comment but the photos are gorgeous...  busy trying to clean out the RV after having to slam on brakes in KC traffic. Such a mess, what was in far back ended up in front & what was on table (even tho on that skid proof rubber stuff), ended up under my seat & at my feet, a first of a kind mess after driving the elephant 9-10 years!

The trees in MO were sort of changing but not pretty colors, mostly dry & dead looking leaves. Guess you got enough water. Nothing pretty around here, either, so thanks for sharing with the rest of us!

Back to work, gotta get these sweat pants off & back to shorts & sandels my feet are soaking wet in sox & tennis shoes! Tiger is back to her normal (but spoiled) eating. She is looking at me like "let's go take a nap".... but she doesn't help at all cleaning up stuff!

Lloyd, I took a chunk of money out of my "money-market" account (where no penalty for taking out early like CD) and put into a new type CD one of the savings & loans came out with.... actually same company/bank.... but over 2% interest and SAFE so better than it has gotten all year, but at least didn't lose any. My kids are moaning about how much they've lost so I'm just playing it safe. When CDs came due last year & year before & new rates so low I just put everything into that moneymarket account & hoped rates would go up & I'd have the money "liquid" and could invest fast. I'm no accountant but for sure I have MY OWN interests at heart & won't cheat myself!  Even with all income cutting in half when Cas died nearly 10 years ago, I am a few dollars ahead, in spite of extreme expenses on pool & the motorhome, new car. I pinch where I need & spend what's necessary and for sure have spent a life time of living like it was WWII ... not bragging but just grew up being thrifty & saving for that rainy day. I think most of us grew up knowing where every dollar came from so guess we all make choices on how to deal with our lives. I do feel very blessed and do agree with my mother when she said, "now the government is taking charity out of our hands"... so decided what went for taxes was what she used to give to people that needed. Made sense to me!  So many young people don't bother to work anymore and don't really know how to. All that belongs in another Discussion so I'll just shut up and hope you can search & locate where to invest that's safe!

The wind is wagging the trees every direction so that is stirring up the ragweed, BOY, it is!!!  Lunch time & looks like Tiger is taking a nap by my feet & not waiting for lunch.

Well, Callie, love to help but NO clue anymore. I'm in same boat with going from hot to cold clothes/house/furnace & AC.  :'(  ::)

Shirley, I agree with you on saving where we can. I was lucky enough to pick up 2 pkgs of lean hamburg with $5.00 off each.....cooking it up now to give the dogs something differnt. Will freeze a lot of packages and then thaw   to mix in with their kibble.
Driving has changed in the past few years...everyone is in a hurry (to meet their maker) and text or on the phone..Driving used to be enjoyable but not anymore..

Well, I decided to "set a spell" and rest my bones!  I stripped and washed the bedding and replaced it and then did 3 more loads of laundry, washed, dried, folded and put away.  I have a pot roast in the crock pot for supper.  I put away my canned apples and also the recycling.

Also cleaned out some dresser drawers and read the paper.  Then Cathy texted to say she was going to the library and did I want to go along.  I did!  Got a couple books and I'm going to sit and read tonight.

Almost forgot...I filled the bird feeder and put some bread out and some peanuts for the squirrels.  It was one of those "just keep moving" days! And now I'm under protest.  Not gonna move any more today!  See y'all later!

Amy, as I got older, I used to love long drives, often with no destination or time in mind. Now I indulge that preference on drives all over the world via YouTube.

As a child, driving with my family through Alaska and Western Canada via jet boat or car, and later throughout the US visiting relatives, wasn't as fun as my father plotted out the course and mileage pre-trip, and unplanned stops were not encouraged or allowed.

I remember wanting to try out various motel pools when we stopped for the night, but again, that wasn't in the plans. So as an adult, I indulged freely, although I never had the chance to try out a motel pool or the ocean on either coast due to various circumstances.

Ten years ago, a friend and I often drove to the various hot springs, rented a hotel room, or stayed with friends in their motor coach for a week at one of the local hot springs; now, that was a vacation. Or my friends and I were going upriver to various cabins for the weekend or a week. I miss those days and those friends who are no longer with us.

Thanks, Jackie!!!  :smitten:  We'll see if I did it when I post this.  Didn't think of clicking name at the far top - kept trying to use the info next to the posts.

Shirley,  our leaves "crackle" instead of "rustling" when the wind blows. I can see a few yellow leaves scattered around the yard but cottonwoods are still full of green ones.

Patricia, most of my "run-around-with" friends are gone, too. Others have health issues that make it hard to communicate.  I really miss them.

I've been to get hair done and then to bank, get med refills at one pharmacy's pick-up window and get other things at another pharmacy, which has become like a "mini-mart" because it has more choices than the one where I get my med refills.

Off to :study: and probably :sleepy: for a while.

Today was a very good day!  All went well and things got done.  Nothing special was done...just "stuff"  Lots of little stuff in between the big stuff (like putting away another drawer full of summer stuff while I folded and put away the laundry.  I don't even count the "in between" stuff!

Sounds like most had a good day, maybe not our shiniest... (gee, is that a word?)moments BUT a full day. I'm sitting down with a dessert bowl of celery cut into 1/2" bite sizes, got into a habit of doing that 'cause my father thought celery healthy and 'cause I don't like the long strings and HE thought that part is good for us. I like the crunch & taste better than popcorn. Not much to talk about when you don't do anything so will wish y'all sweet dreams & God Bless. Not sure where Tiger is but she'll show up in my bed to see if I will serve her milk about 2:00 am. My poor Fitbit will have a nervous breakdown if I ever get a full night sleep!

Not sure what today will bring, know I have a cane begonia to plant, pot and soil already to do the job and cooked hamburg to package for the dogs.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem for a bit.  Cooper arrived wanting his breakfast so we had that together... he claimed the last bite of mine.  Then I got myself dressed and we went for our first walk of the day (he took care of business.  I froze)  I'm  going to have to root out my winter coat pretty soon!

Now HE'S int there taking a nap and I'm in here chatting!  On the agenda today is a batch of Jim's Egg Thingys (or J.E.T.s as AMY thinks I should call them!  I might run the sweeper and if I ge really ambitious, I might bring out the floor mop and do up the bare floors after I sweep.  However, I started one of my library books and it's in there calling my name.  I just might give in!

Our temps have been going down into the the 30s overnight and back to the mid to hi 60s during the day.  Typical Fall days around here!  I love it!

I hope you all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

I woke up this morning to another snowfall and 24 degrees. It looks like we won't see any more fall season, and many trees still have their leaves. I got my trekking poles set up yesterday, One to use and the other on standby, so I'll feel more confident out and about in the snow.

Today I will hand-deliver the last three sets of seasonal legal papers, and I may stop at the grocery store while I'm out.

Tomorrow will be, as Callie says, a couch potato day.

I just watched a video on a series of hundreds of connected waterfalls that are three times as high and longer than Niagara. It, Iguazu Falls, is one of the world's eight wonders and sits between Argentina and Brazil.

Hello Everyfriend!  It was a nice day today...kind of cold in the early morning but sunshiny and warmer midday until after 6 when it started cooling off again and then we had a short shower around 8!

I got a lot of paper work done this morning and some stuff finished and put away but I'm going to have a busy day tomorrow.  I have to run the sweeper in the morning and maybe mop some floors and then Cathy is picking me up to go to the Amish store in the early afternoon and daughter, Christy (Frankie's mom) is coming for a visit sometime tomorrow.  If I'm not in for a visit, it's because I just have too much to do!

PATRICIA, some time ago I read an article about the Falls around the world and that some of them were even more spectacular than Niagara but I'm not close enough to visit them and I've been to Niagara Falls at least 9 times in my lifetime.  And each time it was shared with a different group of people.  The first time I was 13 years old and went there with my parents and my two sisters!

I still have a couple things to finish up before I hit the haystack so I'm wishing you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning; 19 degrees at 8:55, and tomorrow is expected to warm up and bring more snow. I've finished my morning lineup of chores and routines, and this is the first day in 68 that I didn't have a paper to read and respond to or a big chore hanging over my head.

I'm almost afraid to trust this relief feeling without something else needing my attention!

We're having a nice visit but I don't get to sleep with Cooper.  He's sleeping with his "Granny".  That would be my visiting daughter.

I'm off to the haystack.  Tomorrow is going to be a busy day.  We have lots of errands to run and lots of talking to catch up on.

BUBBLE, that sounds like a well-planned Halloween celebration!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Busy day as usual. Breezy & dry around here. Still didn't finish cleaning out the motorhome. A MUST DO for tomorrow so I can run the sprinklers, the slide hangs over a couple of the sprinkler heads so it needs to close up. Plan to put into boxes a lot of the stuff that doesn't get used, some I bought and lots the kids have given me. Sure made a mess when I had to hit the brakes hard!

Wishing all a beautiful fall day tomorrow, sweet dreams and God Bless.

That is a good rate for CDs, Lloyd. I went for a 10 month & hope rates will go up but it's anybody's guess.

Putting away t shirts and bringing out winter wear seems to fit the bill today..........along with sewing.

Patricia, usually when we let our guard down something else is sure to pop up....lets hope it doesn't. Please keep the snow your way.....thank you :)

I'm waiting for David to get back from picking up this week's groceries and then will do a few kitchen duties.  Other than that it is a quiet day.

Take care, All.

Good morning, crisp, clear, and cold out there this morning at 12 degrees. Winter in the arctic is when you want those clouds rolled in to hold in some heat! Clear skies mean it's going to get very cold, and the longer those clouds stay away, the colder it will get. It is too cold to snow as you need moisture and humidity for that. We have built up frost on roofs and metal and some on the grasses. Multiple trees never had a chance to shed their leaves.

When I opened the curtains and blinds this morning, I saw the smokers huddled in their lawn chairs and benches in the fenced-in smoking area at the far end of the parking lot. I am so glad I don't smoke! Several used to smoke on their balcony even though the buildings and parking lots were smoke-free other than that one area set out for them. It took two evictions for folks to realize management meant business. When it gets frigid, folks will warm up their cars, gather friends and cohorts, and travel to a service station's parking lot to get their smokes in.

Amy, On October 9th, I posted, "Yesterday and today, we had rain clouds but no real rain. Then around eleven AM, it started with rain that quickly turned to hail. I can count on three fingers the times I've seen hail here. So, we expect another record-breaking year as in the last four. At 3:30, that hail turned into light-blowing snow mixed with rain.

Since we often receive weather from Siberia that travels across western Alaska and then to Canada's Yukon Province, I wonder if that weather is only now reaching David's area.

I think most CD rates are 1.75% maybe 2% if you're lucky and know somebody who can tell you what bank to go to! Last accounting was:  25 cents on a single CD of over $10K. How does that grab you?

On CD rates, they pay a bit more for longer terms, like 5 years.  I just have mine for one year so I can get to the money quick without forfeiting any of it. 5 Years will pay you 3.50% with Capital One.  At my age, who knows if I'll be here in five years ;D ?

Today was a beautiful day!  It never got above 66 but the sun was out and there wasn't any wind and it just felt good out there.  Cooper spent a lot of time in the yard and so did I!

We have a freeze warning for the next couple nights, that always helps the allergies but I am concerned for my hibiscus. It is way to heavy for me to move, everyone busy doing catch up (summer to winter clothes & all that stuff).

Tomorrow is my meeting with the new cardiology group & doctor. Not sure how that will go but it's a start. The pool guy called to say the people next door want their pool closed tomorrow so he will do mine as well. He's done it several years so will leave the side gate unlocked & he can start if I'm not back from the doc yet. Gotta go to the car tag office to get new tags & pay the yearly tax for both vehicles... the car is more expensive that the motorhome, crazy, huh?  Gonna be busy, for sure!

Nothing exciting going on but am eager to hit the bed, out of steam!  Sounds like from north to south we are seeing fall and winter move in. Oh, Patricia, I think some of your robins came through today. They were playing all over my front yard. I put out some grapes that were kinda yucky but one robin was delighted & worked on getting the goodies out for the longest time, right in front of the window I bird watch out. I slice the grapes in half so they can get to the goodies inside easier.

Good night to all and God Bless. Hope tomorrow is one of those happy fall days and we can all dance in the cool sunshine! Love ya, Shirley

Haha, Rick, by the time he gets the pool ready to close & dumps all those chemicals in I will already owe him an arm & leg! I honestly don't have any place inside the house I want to put it, have one corner of the master bedroom that already houses several big pots of nearly dead looking flowers from other years. Trouble with me, hate to dump any plants that act like they want to survive, they have feelings, you know.  ;)  ::) Thanks for the thought.

I have several plants that I keep alive in my garage near the window. They are from Boyce Thompson (in Yonkers), where I worked for a while after I got out of high school. I move them inside or outside with the seasons. This year I forgot to put them out and now they are hurting. Maybe one or two will survive. When one flowers it can be smelled as soon as I enter the garage. So they are over 68 years old. Just can't let them go.

I don't know what's on the schedule for today.  I think I'll just take things as they come.  I do have a couple of new recipes waiting to be tried.  Maybe one of those will jump out.  Cooper won't be here today because Frankie has the day off.  I'll miss him and I'll miss having her stop by!

They are not hardy so must be brought in every winter. One is from bulbs, the others from tubers. So easy to propagate. Through my neglect I may have lost them. If so, I'm down to some cactus that the kids started from seed when they were small. My wife's grandfather , who was in the Florist business, laughed when he heard the kids planted cactus. I guess he knew how fast they would grow.

We're at 28 and clear this morning with an expected high of 39. Yesterday we had boiling snow clouds and were told to expect an inch in the valley and 4 to 6 in the hills. Instead, those clouds swept up and over the foothills and passed east toward Canada.

Amy, in the past, we've always gotten our cold weather in the Interior from Canada with our warmer weather from Siberia. Lately, all bets are off as those roiling snow clouds headed into the Yukon Territory. I'm unsure where it goes from there or if it heads east or south back in the US.

As long as it stays cold, or at least cold for this time of year, we won't have snow. There is no humidity and no moisture in dry cold, and the clouds aren't covering enough to seal in the heat. So, snow isn't a real possibility.

The city maintenance crews and this building's maintenance aren't equipped to handle another year like the last two, you'd think they'd take the past into account, but you know what they say about expectations.

Weather reports say we'll get a second chance as the weather warms back into the forties on Friday through Sunday. I believe I'll wait and see.

I'm up & ready to get attum, and that'll last a very short while!  Got a couple roast to put in the oven, just part of one. Chuck roast same price as eye of round roast so Tiger will enjoy fresh meat today. She let me know last night what I cut for her supper was getting old smelling so the rest of that was cut up & out for the little kitties that check the dish every so often. They need to be caught & "fixed" but not by me.

For right now I am going to get that old cast iron dutch oven out & get the house warm & smelling good. Going to get tags & pay tax for the vehicles when that office opens and see what the rest of the day brings, I'm sure a nap. Tiger wasn't ready to get up but she came on into the kitchen/family room with me, zonked out on the couch in here as I type. Totally dark but the pool lights are on & so happy to have the cover on & pool winterized for a few months. Better get moving. Wishing all a Happy Day!

Good morning...

Dark out there!! We are off this morning to get our flu shot this morning.
The bring Kyle home and back in I go to get my hair cut. I can see this is going to be a day where little gets done. Have tri tips to put in the crockpot with onion soup mix, potatoes, turnip, carrots and I will pull some parsnips to go in also. Made a trifle yesterday and that is dessert..

Shirley ,I cooked up lean hamburg for these furkids and will put some plus carrots that I cooked in their bowl along with their kibble and they clean that up fast!

Patricia, we are to get 3 more days of rain here but some of that could come in the form of snow they say.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem for a while.  Cooper has arrived and had his breakfast and is now begging mine.  When we're finished, we'll go for a walk if it's light out there.  It's staying dark longer and longer these days...cold, too!

I'm not sure what's on the schedule for today.  I'm just going to take the day as it comes.  And I'm going to try to finish my library book.  It's in the "what's on the next page" time!  There's not much left and the the mystery has to to solve soon!

I wish you all good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Amy, I usually put carrots & potatoes in my roast but since I was going back to sleep I didn't get up mid-way to add. Darn smoke alarm battery woke me up too early & as I listened to it, knew my short ladder was in the basement yet. Tried the little Coleman folding camp stool I keep in the kitchen for the high shelves & it worked! Battery kept on reminding so eventually I hauled the stinker off to the back door & it was still kept yelping until I explained it was getting on my nerves & it shut up! Honest, it did!

Gotta get dressed & head to the tax office. Hope it's not a super busy day, I've sat for hours to get this job done other years. It used to be a savings to do this in person and now they charge extra. Trouble is I hate having a credit card on the loose but not comfy with mailing a check & producing the insurance cards, etc. So I do it in person, dumb me. I will be back for those needed hours of sleep! Enjoy your day.

Good morning, 28 and clear so far, and it won't get that much further today.

Yesterday, I worked on clearing out my files, 2013 through 2017, and I hope to become current today. I've gotten headaches, so I started running the humidifier during the day, as it makes a big difference, and Farrah appreciates not being shocked at a touch.

I've also got a chicken I want to use in a Moroccan dish. Last week, I tried an Indian butter chicken dish but wasn't impressed as it was very oily. I also made quite a dent in the Medjool dates I tried; not something I usually keep on hand, but they were so good!

During our morning round of calls and texts, I was sorry to hear that two more couples had their house and lands for sale. They plan on buying in town as they worry about being unable to get medical or other help quickly in the ridges and foothills. And with the past years' historic landsides and heavy snowfalls, they fear being stranded.

I'm ready for the haystack!  It was a good day today.  I'm out of canned Chicken
Corn Soup so I found some already cooked chicken in the freezer and took a couple jars of canned chicken broth and some onions and carrots  and corn from the freezer and made up a pot of chicken corn soup.  I had a nice bowl of it for supper and I'll can the rest tomorrow afternoon.  I have a dr. appt in the morning.

I think I overdid on the reading yesterday because my eyes have been a bit cloudy all day today!  I guess I'll have to remember that in the future!

PATRICIA, it's supposed to go down to freezing one night this week and the we're supposed to have a couple of days in the 50s.  That's a typical Fall for around here.

I rooted out my gloves for taking doggie walks today.  My hads nearly dropped of in the freezing weather this morning!

Now I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Here I am again, another almost 3 hour night. Had pancakes & coffee & ready to go back to bed. Been thinking about this routine and remember my mother had a saying, "Once a man and twice a child".... could it be that the body is back to that baby schedule of getting fed every 3 or 4 hours? Sure fits the time-line!  At least no smoke alarm batteries going bad, think I have about every monitor unplugged now! Can't figure how to get the batteries out of the carbon monoxide detector, says to check manual and no clue where that might be, guessing it's probably just over a year old. It's below freezing out, I gave up & turned on the furnace, bones were shivering! Supposed to be back in the 80s this week so #1 son thinks it's not time to cover the AC. Summer ain't over till it's over!  Have an appointment for the echocardiogram mid morning but not exactly sure which end of the hospital complex to find it. I asked but the lady on the phone wasn't sure herself! I'm not up to walking back & forth, that's the problem we're trying to solve! :-\  And so it goes!

We are on the road to the city this morning. Kyle has a bone density appointment. While in the city we will pick up his planer blades as they are now sharpened and ready to come home.

Another rainy day so that makes it easier on the eyes to travel. Arm was a bit sore yesterday but is fine today..all shots done  for now.

Better scurry and get ready .

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning everyone. well we are down to 22º this morning not a cloud in sight. My VA device is all wet this morning. I had my cuff on same way as as i always do. and it said device, needs to re check your readings.I always hold my hand on it to keep it from moveing while getting the readings. it tells me to put it on my upper arm over bare skin, and have it at least 1 above the bend of my elbow. that is not possiable, my arm is not long enough to do that. I hold my hand on it to makke sure i do not moove with it while takeing the readings, and it said device needs to re check your vitials. It always, tells me at least 8 out of ten times to re do. Nancye is haveing one bad days all choked up. we have one of those veiperizers but have not been useing it. I told her to get the vix stuff for it ,she said she dose have it, so I told her we need to start useing it, it would help us both with our breathing. Have a good day and I will check back leater on today.

As I look out my window at dense white fog, I turn back to the weather report that tells me it's 29 and partly cloudy at 10:22 AM. It also tells me we have 100% humidity; hmmm... what is wrong with those statements?

Yesterday I organized up to early 2022 from my file storage boxes. After completing that, I expect to add new folders to my new file cabinet. I live such an exciting life.

Amy, I was fine for the first two Covid vaccinations, the third temporarily made my arm sore, and the fourth was about the same and a feeling of tiredness. I didn't get the flu shot, and I haven't since that horrible reaction in 1985 when I had a three-week case of the flu, my first and only flu and flu shot.

Good Evening Everyfriend!  And Good Night, too!

LLOYD, you have a very talented family!  You can be very proud of them!

I went to the eye dr. and when I got there to check in they said that someone had called and cancelled my appointment.  It could only have been me or daughter Cathy and both of us were standing there wondering how it got cancelled.  Now I have to go back in November for this appt.  I still can't figure it out!

When I got home I started canning the Chicken Corn Soup and I have 8 pints ready to be wiped, labeled and put on the shelf!  Tomorrow I'll do the rest of it.  I'm thinking maybe 6 more jars.  We always used say our Mother was canning things that we could eat "when the snow flies".  Soup is a good thing to have handy "when the snow flies"!

I'm finishing up for the day and then heading for the haystack!  So I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

I am sheepishly coming in tonight to say HELLO and let you know I am still alive and kicking.  No need to try to tell you what all has been going on, other than to say we have been very busy.

We are currently doggie sitting for Dr. Dave.  He and the kiddos are in So. Cali visiting friends for a few days.  This is the first time that Mönch, the Bernedoodle  has ever been to our house.  Our Smokey Cat is not thrilled to have them here, but they are all doing well together.

Good to see that EVERYFRIEND seems to be doing well.

Sleep well.

It's now 9 pm, and that fog outside is as dense as it was late last night and all through the day. People were asked to drive cautiously, pay attention and keep their headlights on. We were told it would dissipate at various times during the day, and now they're shooting for midnight or early tomorrow.

What is odd about the fog, besides unusual behavior and totally (no accompanying rain or snow and 100% humidity in a very arid arctic zone), unheard of at this time of year, is that everyone is seemingly accepting it as simply one more thing nature is giving us.

JENNY, so nice to see you!  Watching the doggies is a nice thing to do.  I keep my great-granddoggie, Cooper every day that Frankie works and he fills a gap.  Right now he's sitting there begging for his morning walk.  I guess I better get my shoes on and take him.

But i told here she can't take it with her when god calles her #. I think we both will feal better sleeping with the humidifyer running at our bed side. the high weinds the other day took two big up right sections off of our beautfual tree out front the other day. the tree is sure not pretty like it was befor, with that flat side on it. I wish I knw how to take pictuers of it and post them where I could show them to you all. I would take one from this side and one 90 degrees form the other side and show you. makes me half sick.

Another day is over and I'm ready for the haystack!  It was beautiful sunshine here but brrrrr, cold!  Cooper and I did our three walks and he did a bit extra on one of them.  He decided to go around another circle so I indulged him.

The chicken corn soup is all done!  The first batch is labeled and put away and the second one is waity for tomorrow to be cleaned up, labeled and stored!  It's a bit different this time because I used what I had in the fridge and freezer but it sure hits the spot!  I've had two bowls and Frankie took one home for her supper last night!.

Tonight I made a tater tot casserole for supper and that really hit the spot!  And it'll be there tomorrow, too.  Wonder if Frankie might like to take some of that for her supper tomorrow night?  Guess I'll ask her!

I hope you all had a good day today.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

What Gender is the Computer?

A language teacher was explaining to her class that in French, nouns unlike their English counterparts, are grammatically designated as masculine or feminine.

'"House" in French, is feminine - "la maison", while "pencil" in French is masculine - "le crayon."'

One puzzled student asked, "What gender is a computer?"

The teacher thought it would be a good exercise to have the students decide what they thought the gender should be. So she split the class into two groups appropriately enough, by gender and asked them to decide whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

The men's group decided that computer should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computer"), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic.

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else.

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later review.

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you constantly find yourself spending more money on accessories for it.

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be masculine "le computer") because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on.

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves.

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem.

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer you could have gotten a better model!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's cold here!  My information says that the temp. got down in the "freezing" zone overnight!  I'm not ready for this!

PATRICIA, thanks for my wake-up laugh of the day!  I loved the information about the computers and I think I agree with all of it.  Therefore, my computer now has dual Gender!  It's a "male-female" computer!

I'm waiting for Cooper's arrival and it's imminent so I might have to leave and go meet him and he always needs his breakfast when he gets here!  She doesn't take the time to feed him and that seems to be alright with him!  So we have our breakfast together.

I'm not sure what's on the agenda for today but I know one thing I have to do is move out the sofa and clean under it.  I dropped my fork last night and when I got down to get it, I found some missing items under the sofa.  I also found some dirt.  So it will get cleaned under there.  Unfortnately, it doesn't get moved often enough and now it yelling for attention.  Don't tell daughter Cathy that I moved the sofa.  She'll have a fit!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; 32 degrees here, and overnight we had our second snow, the one that stays throughout the winter. The weather report also calls for a warmup and more snow over the weekend and next week. I'm late getting here this morning, I had some morning duties, and our regime of calls and texts ran long.

I noticed that Farrah had been quietly retraining me. If she sees me heading to the kitchen, she will either follow and stop by the closet holding her food supplies or over by the counter holding her treats. In the morning, she follows and sits in the hallway if I hold one finger up in a wait position. All of this evolved without any verbal direction on my part.

Good Evening,  Remember me?

It's been a pleasantly busy month but I don't have much to show for it. Have been reading posts and silently commenting but am usually on my Tablet and don't like tapping that keyboard instead of using touch typing on this computer.  Then I get sidetracked by errands, Domestic Duties, desk work, business/"maintenance" medical appointments and various repairs needing attention.

Can you canners and preservers: beat this?  #1 son/dil have - over the past week - made 101 jars of jelly and still have more to go!!!  Flavors so far are: Peach, Peach Amaretto, Peach Bourbon, Peach Blacberry and Spiced Rum Peach.
Report is that they still have to make Blackberry and Watermelon Lemonade (I have NO idea what this one is!!!!!).
When they finish - their Christmas "shopping" for friends and family will be done.

Re: temperatures:    Last weekend, we had a Hard Freeze - 28 degrees.  This weekend the forecast is for 90 degrees tomorrow and 89 on Sunday.  It is also terribly dry with humidities of 15%.  Obviously, 44 of the 77 counties are under a strict Fire Ban.
I think Patricia is graciously  ;)  sending us a Major Arctic Front - which is supposed to arrive some time on Monday.  Apparently, Hurricane "Rosalie" is coming over Mexico and will meet the MAF somewhere over Oklahoma.   ??? .

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have Pleasant Dreams. :smitten:

Hello Everyfriend!  Well, CALLIE, my daughter keeps telling me I should avoid midsummer in Okla. the next time I visit her.  It was so hot while I was there that it was almost stifling.  I'm not sure if I'd like freezing better!  Or even freezing for a couple of days and then burning up for a couple of days!

All the chicken corn soup is cleaned up, labeled and stashed.  Now what do I do?

I suppose I could get into jam like CALLIE'S kids.  Oh, No!  I already did that!

I'm on my own tomorrow.  The only thing that might bring Cooper here is is Frankie's friend wants to go to some shindig in Harrisburg.  I guess we'll see!

I'm off to the haystack now.  I'm a bit more than half-way through my library book with three full days to finish it!  I think I'll make it.  When I pick it up, I can't put it down!  Anyway, it's down now and I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Callie, that is a lot of jelly, lucky family and friends to receive  some.

Jane, like you I am don't other than canning soup and bakes beans.

Jenny, time and steam go hand in hand, wish they weren't such good buddies. :)

Patricia, my friend phoned to say her hubby told her that they got snow 3 inches of it at the huntcamp which is about 2 hours for here..

Good Morning Everyfriend and especially you, AMY.  You're the only one here since I signed out last night.

We had a freeze overnight but it's supposed to get into the mid 60s today with sunshine.  I have to go get a shower and get dressed just in case Cathy decides to take me to the recycle center this morning.  The is one of the 2 days a month that they're open!

Other than that, I have no plans except to get back into my library book and see what's cooking.  The mystery is building!  I haven't heard from Frankie so I don't know if Cooper will be around or not.  I guess I'll wait and see!

Good afternoon, I'm late. Still, I'm going to quote Callie as she is a better word crafter than me, "by errands, Domestic Duties, desk work, business/"maintenance" medical appointments and various repairs needing attention."

I had three black garbage bags of old papers pass into the shredder, and my files are finally complete for 2013 through most of  October 2022. Along the way, I discovered much that I had forgotten. I have a terrible habit of stuffing mail and paper into storage boxes with the intention of going back later to file properly.

I had managed to put that off for nine years, and it was either go out for more storage boxes or give in and file properly. People tell me to go paperless, but I don't trust that.

I also took time for a tenant's meeting and lunch with some friends in the city, so, Callie, thanks for the explanation I appropriated.

Yesterday and today, we had snow interrupted by periods of rain, then slush, which looks to be our forecast through the weekend, only to get colder next week.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Yesterday was a beautiful day in central Pennsylvania and today is supposed to be another one.  The temps got into to the freezing zone overnight but went up into the low 70s during the day.  They are supposed to do the same thing today!  Typical Fall days in this area!

They are having a special occasion at our local movie theater.  It's the 50th anniversary of the the movie "A League of Their Own".  There are two of the players in their 90s who are going to make an appearance here and they are doing other special things.  This movie has become one of my all time favorites because back in 1947 I went to Peoria, Illinois to visit my Uncle and family and there was a ladies professional team there called the Peoria Redwings.  My uncle was a fan and we went to as many games as possible while I was there.  It's still vivid in my mind!  My daughter and I are going to the movie and the special events this afternoon!  I'm excited about this.  I think I might be the only person in Lewisburg...maybe even in PA...to have seen these teams play in person!

Now I have to get myself ready for church!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Just stopping by to wish you all Goodnight but then there haven't been very many of you in here today.  Between my post this morning and my post tonight, only AMY came by!  That makes the cleaning up easy.  AMY, I see you had a milk shake and you washed your own glass.  I stuck it back on the shelf since it was dry when I got here!

I wish everyfriend and peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..
Going to be another lovely day here. Yesterday was perfect, twice we sat outside having our tea. I heard a strange call as we were sitting out and looked up to see 6 trumpter swans winging their way north! Helped Kyle with the last of the leaves ,so that is another job done.

Friends came and we had a great visit with them, we swaped items we had for each other then they were on their way home.I was going to get some sewing done but she had brought some sewing books and my nose got stuck in them .

Today is pull the parsnips, wash them and bag for the fridge and friends too. Then house hold duties that need to be done is next.

Jane , thank you for putting the glass away for me. :)

Phyliss hope all is well is your neck of the woods.

Better get ready for the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning Everyfriend...especially AMY and LLOYD who have poked their heads in to say "Hello".  Cooper arrived, has had his breakfast and is waiting for his walk.

I emptied the clean dishes out of the dishwasher while I waited for his arrival and had my coffee and then we had breakfast together.  Now it's light out there so we'll be taking our walk.  When we get back, I'll be getting ready for my Dr. appt later this morning.  It's my check up for the surgery.  Doesn't seem like a year ago that I had that!

When we get back I  have a plan for meat loaf and scalloped potatoes for supper and that's my only plan for the day.  However, the yard guy will be here to trim back the Rose of Sharon bushes if the rrain stops.  According to my phone, the rain has stopped and it's just supposed to be cloudy all day.

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning all. On and off rain here. Breakfasst and coffee done and dishes in the Dishwasher. Monday is "pill counting" day and that's done. Charging some batteries from a security system is well on it's way. That's enough for today. The rest will be TV, relax, and naps. Maybe a little putzin around.

Pill counting day?   Mine is
Wednesday!!   Such an inportant time
which allows me to pay attention to my
prescription meds and supplements.

I am always so glad when that day has
come and gone,  with job done!!!

It is raining here on the rocky
coast of Maine.    Fall has fallen
and now on to the dreaded Winter and
holiday season.

And we grow a day older,  if
that is in our cards!

Enjoy, Enjoy!

Well, I guess I've mulled my problems enough it's time to tell what going on in my head. I came in a lot of times but not ready to tell all. I switched cardiologists because his group won't give me any options to see if my breathing problems are just normal issues I've had various times over the years.

But it's been 2 years since the last echocardiogram & the test this past week looks pretty serious. Still on hold for what/how they can do to fix. SO, it's more or less just waiting to see IF I WILL go along with what they say. Got 3 valves leaking bad so depends on the next conversation, not going to let them kill me like they did my brother!

Still have an appointment set for the pulmulmonogilistis.. haha, that is NOT how to spell that word... on Nov.7 to see if oxygen might help but think the cardios already have their mind made up. A lot to consider, one thing is if I must take blood thinners, that isn't an option for me. I had every side effect to the 3 main brands, and at the time told them I wouldn't want to live under those conditions.

Right now I'm alive & still able to enjoy life, even if I huff & puff. I'm even going to fix the turkeys, dressing, gravy & noodles for the Thanksgiving dinner. Got plenty of help to haul it to the host house, actually I fix 2 small birds to get all the flavors for everything. The other "girls" will fix everything else & since everyone wants to come, I will hang in one more year of cooking! Love it...

My house is still a disaster but am doing a lot of cleaning out knick-knacks & the excess, lots to get rid of. I've kind of run amuck since Cas died & collected way more than needed and nary a garage sale to get rid of a lot.

So that is what the mouth has been up to. I'm loving the cooler weather & even had some rain today, not pour down rain & didn't have the rain gauge out so no clue how much, but the ground was wet!

Hope to get my new glasses in a day or so. Was funny when picking out the frames, wanted the same as I got for the sunglasses. The optomitrist couldn't read the tiny numbers on the ear piece with a magnifying glass so I took my glasses off to read them for him without ANY glasses & he was stunned, asked why I just didn't get single vision instead & I explained that single vision made it impossible for me to read the speedometer & not a good thing with a lead foot! We gotta just use what we're dealt!

Rick, I've been sort of doing the same about only talking when talked to. Tomorrow is a day to get moving with errands to run & more laundry to do. I was putting away summer clothes & had to drag some back out. Hot one day & cold the next. Back to a sweatshirt today & that doesn't help clean up the stacks of clothes. I am super sleepy tonight so better put things away & get ready for bed.

By the way, I don't "do pills" but remember what a chore it was for Cas. Cas had 2 brown grocery bags full he filled his pill boxes with for 4 times a day. Life savers for some & killers for others. Off to la-la land. Sweet dreams & God Bless. Love ya'all.......Oops, you slipped in, Rick, thanks for missing me!

Good morning..

A pea soup of a day out there..going to have to get the fog plows out!

Managed to accomplish a lot yesterday, floors all vacuumed and washed, bread made and parsnips and the rest of the carrots pulled.

Today is pick up Kyles med and wash windows. Will see just how many  get done.

Rick, passing you the WD40 for help unzip your lip. ;) You reminded me  I also have to reload my pill case, I just take vitamins but like to do 5-6 at a time .Didn't have access problems just not enough time to sit and write. Did sit and read then off I go again.

Shirley, we pulled a 5 gallon bucket of parsnips from the trug...finish washing them off and putting them away is also a job for today. My friends husband phone to say she came through her knee replacement and will come home today if all goes well. Next they are working on her breathing, she has heart problems but don't know if both are related.

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Well, that's better!  Good Morning, LLOYD, AMY, RICK, SHIRLEY and anyone else who shows up.

RICK, I'm going to speak directly to you so you know that you need to post.  Please don't keep your lips clamped shut!  Even if all you say is "Hello", at least I'll know you're there!

SHIRLEY, you continue to be in my prayers daily!  God knows what you need and he will see to it that you get what you need!  Don't stand in His way!

AMY, winter is on the way and you are sure keeping up with its arrival!  All the veggies you are going to enjoy over the winter months are special because you grew a lot of them!

LLOYD, the good Lord will be with you and He knows when you will join Him.  Interesting that we don't know that!

Frankie spent the night with me and we sat for a good long time in the living room just talking and laughing together!  Cooper slept with me part of the night but I felt him get up and jump off the bed.  I thought he went to Frankie's room but he went in to the sofa in the living room!  He sure does feel at home here!

We had meat loaf and scalloped potatoes with corn from the freezer for supper.  It was good and we both enjoyed it.  I did the cooking and Frankie did the dishes!

Cooper and I had our walk this morning and we saw all the local kids onto the school bus for another day.  He loves it when the kids group around him and love him up!  He gives it right back to them!

Now I'm off to get dressed because sometime this morning, Cathy is picking me up to go the the library!  Then I'll come home and READ!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Callie, I'm so glad to hear the good news! It's a wonderful feeling, isn't it, when someone has success in that battle.

It was 16 this morning and clear, and now we've reached 23 degrees; wow!

The little snow that stuck is more a frost than an actual covering.

Here I am all tired out again!  I've been reading a bit of my new library book and my eyes are ready to close.  It's nice to come in and see PATRICIA, LLOYD, and MYCHEAL have been here since my last visit.

Cathy and I made a quick trip to the library and then a stop at Davy's on the way home.  I've accomplished a few odd jobs and finished up some other things,  took Cooper for two more walks and had a short visit with Frankie when she picked him up.  She gave him a quick bath before they went home.  It's easier in my tub than in her shower!  And he NEEDED one!

Now I'm off to the haystack.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Jane, thanks for the prayers, I really do feel like that is the only thing that will help me right now, but I will beg to go on living as long as I can take care of myself.

The wind is still blowing but the temps did not feel as warm as predicted. We didn't get much rain from all reports so still a fire danger. Can't decide if summer or winter jammies are in order for tonight. Maybe half of each! Hugs to all.

well It has been a good day. Nancy and Went to king sheff's and had a good feed to celabrite our forteenth anavericery this second time around. Our first Marriage started decemb  sixt ninteen fifty nine. just look at what we would have done if we had stayed to gather the first time. twenty three years the first time and fortten this time and the wasted ones in between. well i am done for good unles i out live her, god forbid. if that happens i would need another helper, but no Love making for more childern. that would take god's hnd as I am a member of the over the hill gang. Nancy and I had four children boy girl boy girl in that order. our oldest got killed with the amtrack train, at a bliend crossing.he seen the train we know because there were skid marks on the cross ties. would probley been better if he had not, he might made it across in fornt of it. he had a little s 10 chivey pickeup. It had a thirty gallon gas tank and full plucs 20 gallons in five gallon cans in the back. the train hit him dead center of the pashenger side. set the truck on fire instantly, and knocked it off to the left of the tracks up agenst a stack of used railroad ties. it burnt his boddy bad enough we had to have a closed casket fruneal. the deputy sheirf was the one to take his burnt boddie out of th truck. that bothered him bad enough thet rezined and gaveup his lawinforsentment job. Weather is to have liquid sunshine..again. I am off to get the front brakes replaced this morning. When the mechanic put the snow tires on her noticed the wear but said they would be ok for a while. Rather get it done now before the snow flies and I really have to test them.

Haven't notice many flocks of geese going over and noticed the geese on the lake are rather quiet this year?? had company in the back yard yesterday, 5 of the 5 month old chicks were here scratching around ,fun to watch.

Better get ready..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I managed to read everything before Cooper decided it was time for his walk.  And he didn't want just a little walk!  We went around both circles and did an extra to the main road and back.  If my calculations are correct, that was just about a mile!

The temp only went into the low 50s overnight and it's heading for the mid 60s  by early afternoon!  Is this Fall or is this Fall?

The way things look out there at this time of the year always remind me of my kid sister when she was in Kindergarten (6 years behind me).  They learned a song about the leaves and she sang it so much that year that we all learned it....

          The leaves are falling
            softly down.
          Some are red,
            and some are brown.

And it had motions to go with it and I still remember them!  And, believe it or not, I still sing that song at this time of year and I think of Leslie every time I do!

I have to get a shower and get dressed and ready to be picked up at 10:45 this morning.  The gang that I used to work with at Pennsylvania House Furniture Company Office still get together for lunch and memories once a month.  I really enjoy being with them.  We get about 12 to 15 office people and lots of good memories!

AMY, I listen for the migrating geese and ducks every time I go out but I've only hear them twice this year and both times they were in flight!  Where I live, I'm between the river and a large pond where they overnight or do a couple of days before heading South.  I've not heard them on the pond at all this year and I can hear them from my yard if they're there.  And I look every time we pass the pond by car!  So far, nothing!

Now I'm off to the showers and to do a little "pick-up-and-put-away" around here!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; it's 12 degrees and mostly cloudy here in the Interior at 9:49 am. We have snow, but it is more of a paint than a deluge. I have a late start as I was up late emailing back and forth with a friend in Sitka. She received word that her sister died, and she is the last of her family; her parents, sisters, brothers, aunts, and uncles are all gone now. She lost her husband a long time ago, and she had no children.

I have only generalities today, mainly phone calls, so that will be easy. I made soup with ground pork, garden vegetables, mushrooms, mixed peppers, rice, onions, and a roasted garlic bouillon sauce yesterday. I have four gallons in the freezer and four cups in the fridge. That was a good idea because I could take out yesterday's frustrations on the chopping board.

When I got home, my next door neighbor knocked on my door.  They are getting ready to take off for Florida on Saturday to spend the winter and she wanted to know if I'd like some frozen stuff that she needs to clear out before she goes.  I took it and I'm thinking "a nice big pot of soup will be good.

Then Cooper and I did a walk and when I came home, I brought the mail and the newspaper and that kept me busy for a bit.  Then some "odds and ends" got cleared up and now here I am, ready for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  And may God bless us, every one!

Good morning..

Got my brakes done and only needed one calliper not two so that saved a bit on the bill. The way everything is going up and up here any saving is a blessing.

Now to finish up on cleaning cupboards and get that in the rear view mirror!

Patricia, thank you for the heads up on the PinSol, I do have some but not those...there is also a recall out on dry shampoo  saying it has cancer causing ingredients in it.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good morning all. A little late - I got involved watching "American Pickers".  It always interests and surprises me when I see the things some people have. Wonder what they would think of all the stuff I have. Attic, garage, and cellar ----- full of things I'll never use.

Finally got to be here today.
Last few days haven't been too good but l have hope that they will improve soon.
I had covid and flu shots yesterday and they both bothered me.  Also, the drug store was crowded  and the  staff  didn't  seem  to  know or care  what was going on. Wasn't a good day and the night wasn't any better.  Sorry  to  be  so  crabby.  I'll get over it.
Hopefully  you  all are having a much better day.

If I'm in a better mood tomorrow I'll come back.    Take care, All.

Patricia, talked with some folks at the lumber yard and they said they had a bit of snow there and to the north there was some. Nothing here but we do know it is coming.

Phyllis, that is not crabby. Thankfully this last covid shot didn't bother me nor did the flu shot. I wasn't one to get shots but now I do ,can't bring anything home to Kyle. Flu used to knock me off my feet and thankfully I haven't had it since the 70's but best to get the shot.

Chelsea buns are done as is the oatmeal square ,laundry, vacuuming and now I am going to play in the sewing room.

Good morning...

We are back into normal weather for this time of year ,temp is 26° at the moment.

Off to the grocery store this morning to use up my air miles points before they discontinue using them at the store.  Will see what I can get for the point owing. Works out to $70.00 that I don't have to pay for so the pantry will get a boost. The way the groceries are taking a hugh price hike every bit helps. Heard on the news that Shell  made a profit........not in the millions but Billions and the gas keeps going up!!

Jane, if we don't stop enjoying your cole slaw I am going to have to do more to get us through the winter!! Polished off another jar last night.

Patricia, lots of room and the snow would be no problem for you here.

Jenny, where did you go???

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's 35º here right now.  Didn't quite make it to freezing overnight....only 33!  And heading for a high of 58 today.  I don't have Cooper today so I don't have to go outside unless I accumulate some garbage or need a walk or the birds eat all their food.

I have my second load of laundry in the washer.  The first load is the bed sheets and they're drying while the towels wash.  I also cooked some apple wedgies for my breakfast and I'm eating them right now.  I love apples and have discovered that this face thing that the drs gave me won't let me eat apples so the cooked wedgies are my replacement!

AMY, I'm keeping up with you on the cole slaw.  It's so easy to grab one of those jars when I need a fill in for a meal!  I might have to make more myself!

Dryer stopped!  Time to remake the bed and put the towels in the dryer.  Rugs are next and that means washing up the floors while the rugs are gone!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow

I slept good last night and my arms aren't sore so I'm in a better mood today than I was yesterday.  It is chilly outside and the sun is in and out but it isn't a bad day.  Typical fall weather.  David will go pick up groceries in a little while and that chore will be taken care of for the week.  Nothing else planned except to take delivery of new wheel chair this afternoon. We will see how smoothly that goes.

Take care, All.

This is my first wheel chair, Bubble, so don't have an old one to get rid of.  I sometimes see them for sale or for donation in our Next Door Neighborhood web site,  I've put off getting one for a long time because I could use the Rollator but that is OK in the house but not as good if I go out to an appointment where I might have to walk quite a distance.  I get very tired quickly now.  Is your's electric or manual?.  David says he can push me without any problem.  We'll see how it goes.

Mine is manual because it is better inside the house and also because I need the arms exercise. Outside, my 24/7  carer helps me when I get tired (which is very fast)

Good morning from the Interior, where it's clear, zero degrees, colder, and no snow expected past this coming week. This is that time of year when you want it to stay cloudy, to hold in the heat. The only snow we've had is more of an icy frost which is more  what we used to have in November.

well here we go again. I made a good long post and the grilemons got it again, about the scooters I have two of them one I have is gas powerd. I keep the gas powerd one in the gearuge.
It is gas powered. it is also four wheeled drive.I bought it out right to use on the farm stead.the other Is also four wheeled drive, eletric battery powerd. the doctor at VA got it for me with your tax paers $$$. no fuems with it so I can un load it out of the van. it goes in side over where the third seat is.under it. so out of the weather. stayes nice and clean. If Nancy goes with me shopping she get a gorcery cart and pushes it,foe her stabillity. if i go by my self I get a grocery cart and pull it with my left hand, the throttel is on the right hand side. if we are togather depending where the product is she gets itand puts it in the cart. the controles are on the skettoer on the right side. so I go after it,and bring it back. Our deaughter is goinghome after while. I bet her husband will be glad to get is bed partner back. we were glad to have her help. but it will be good to have our priveaatcey back.we Have bright sunny skyie and 66º. but as someone said it is that time of year. some one once said if you do not like the weather just weight a little while we may have what you like.

Hello Everyfriend!  This was a busy day...laundry, bed changing, cooking, washing dishes, drying them and putting them away, cleaning bathrooms, and making a batch of "Jim's Egg Thingys" (J.E.Ts) Then I sat and read a couple chapters of my library book.

I got a "thank you" picture and note from EMMA for their Halloween card and ice cream treat that I sent because I couldn't go and they couldn't come!  It's on the office wall where I can see it when I look away from the screen to rest my eyes. (AMY's up there, too)

I enjoyed the conversations about the wheel chairs.  I never realized there were so many kinds available!  They make it easier to get around, don't they!

Now I'm off to the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  And may God bless us, every one!

P.S.  Almost forgot...I had SHIRLEY's Taco Soup for supper!  It was good...as usual!

Now, JaneS, you often mention reading, but somehow you never seem to tell us the Title of the book.  There is a Library section here in S&F, you could post there or let us know in Soda Shoppe.  Being an avid reader, it is part of my genetic makeup to inquire what someone is reading! I even do that in the doctors office..."what are you reading", is it any good? Do you like the author's style?
So, Ms. JaneS, let's hear what you read, even if it puts you to sleep! ;)

Good Morning Everyfriend...and especially Tomereader (whose name says it all!)  I've been a avid reader all my life.  We lived in South Williamsport when I was growing up and the nearest library was on the other side of the river in Williamsport.  Saturday morning, my sister and I would walk across the bridge and be on the library steps when the librarian arrived to open the doors.  We spent most of the morning there and then walked back home loaded down with books to read that week.  I'm still a library fan and so is my daughter who is my ride now.  When I was 12 we moved to Lewisburg and HALLELIJUH!!  The library was right up around the corner!!!

I currently haunt the "Large-Print" section and I discovered a while back that they have a lot of Jack Higgins spy stories!  Right now, I'm working my way through them.  I'm a fan of mysteries, spies and war stories but I like almost anything.  And if someone tells me they're reading a good book, I look for it in the Large-Print section.  I've tried reading the regular print ones but I can't read for as long on those books and it takes me a lot longer.  Right now, I'm almost finished with a book called "Bad Company".

Now I have to watch out for Cooper's arrival.  I'm not sure if Frankie is working this weekend.  She forgot to tell me.  Other than that, my day is my own.  I wish you all a good one...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning...

Tad chilly here with a temp of 22° but it will warm up some.  Laundry day here and finish up purging cupboards and drawers.

When our friend was staying with us , he also has a wheelchair for when we went to appointments. One that he could move by his hands, his case worker say me tryin g to lift and put it in the vehicle and said that was not good...you need a transport one. Had no idea of what she meant but when it came, what a joy it was to lift  and put away, no big wheels on it, light in weight and easy to push! He could use the rollator in the house easy.

Jane, you're beside me on the wall when I am at my desk. :smitten:

Time to get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Jane, I made them also and found them a bit dry...maybe next time I will put some applesauce in it also??? Over half the pan is gone so they can't be too bad. :))

edited to add: Just came in from taking laundry off the line and guess who I caught in the squares!!!

The other night Kyle asked, what can you do for a dry ,scratchy throat? Well, flu ,colds and covid is running rampid here and I thought oh noooooo. Told him to gargle with warm salt water while I was thinking of "other" meds he could take. Looked over at him,saw the sparkle in his eyes and the grin starting to form and I knew I had beed had!!!  I asked him if he would like some ice cream..... round about way of asking the stinker.. :2funny:

My squares are definitely NOT dry!  I followed the recipe exactly. All around the edge they are well done but not dry.  The rest is moist and tasty.  I gave some to Frankie when she picked up Cooper and I'll see what she says about them tomorrow. AMY, It's sounds like Kyle doesn't think your baking is dry!  Or else he likes it that way!

I kept my porch light on for any Trick or Treaters that might be out but I didn't get even one.  I'm thinking that out here in the Country, they might be coming tomorrow!  Tonight was the assigned night in town and I'm sure it was busy there but out here, we're not so particular.

I'm just about ready for the haystack.  It was a beautiful day today and Cooper and I did a lot of walking!  Now I'm ready to quit!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one.

I really reversed my nights & days this last 24 hours... only a couple hours sleep last night but slept off & on most of the day. Now I'm having trouble thinking tomorrow is "church day" and I skipped Saturday.  ::)

Jane, I quit opening the door for Trick or Treaters a couple years ago, even the little ones that come out before dark with Mom & Dad waiting on the street, I just hide out. We started getting grown ups carrying babies that for sure were NOT going to be eating the candy & before I could shut the door some full grown young or older men would show up & I was left with the door open to strangers mercy. Not a comfortable feeling. I just turn off lights & go to the basement to watch TV & hope if any damage the security cameras will catch them! From what I hear, they will do the walk & knocks on the doors next Monday here. Stay safe!

Sweet dreams to all and God Bless. I am ready for coleslaw, please!  Haven't made any for quite a while.

I'm up and had my breakfast and will be getting ready for church in a bit. It made it below freezing last night and it's still only up to 29º this morning!  But they say it's heading for a high of 68 today.  Quite a difference and definitely Fall weather.

Cathy is refinishing a chest that my dad made for her back when she graduated from college and started saving stuff for later.  She's really doing a fabulous job and I'm sure he's watching her with pride in his eyes and his heart!

Cooper will be here when I get home from church and Frankie said she might spend the night tonight since she'll be late getting home and early leaving in the morning.  I like it when she does that.  I have someone to talk to and a doggy to sleep with me!

Not much on the agenda for today.  TOMEREADER, I finished my library book and started the next one.  This is a Jack Higgins one, too but a different set of spies!  I'll probably end up reading a lot of the day!

SHIRLEY, I hope your days get straightened out and you get to enjoy some cole slaw toda!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; I'm getting another late start this morning. It's minus four out there and mostly cloudy at 8:18 am. Our high will only be plus eleven today, and it's not going to warm up any until Wednesday at the earliest. I've had my morning coffee, participated in my calls and texts, and Farrah's been fed.

I've only got small generalities to tend to today and three important calls to make on Monday, so the coming week is clear.

Happy Hall🎃ween Eve.

We had Sunday Dinner with Dr. Dave and family then enjoyed watching the kiddos carve their pumpkins 🎃 We all enjoyed our time together very much.

Yesterday we spent time with our other two Colorado Grands.  We are feeling pretty blessed to have this fun two days in a row🦋🦋

AMY, thank you for "asking for me"‼️  I did try a few times to get in and was not able to, but that is no excuse for not showing up once in awhile😩😤.

SHIRLEY, very concerned to read the latest news regarding your health. Positive thoughts and prayers heading your way.

CALLIE, what wonderful news you have shared regarding Mandi's results.  Thanks be to God for this good news.

Doctoring, keto dieting etc. have had me not in the best frame of mind recently, but I am trying my best to concentrate on only the positive things.  We will get out of here in another week and hopefully I can leave my blues behind!  No doctor appointments, no oxygen needed I am beginning to smile already🥰🥰🥰

Pleasant dreams to EVERYFRIEND 🥰

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I came by and read and then had to leave and take Cooper for his morning walk.  We met the kids at the bus and it was kind of fun!  Today is the day that the elementary schools wear costumes to school and all the kids at the bus stop were dressed up!  FUN!

JENNY, so nice to see you drop by!  You're one of the few here that I've met in person and it's always nice to "see" those people again.  That was way back at the Williamsport Bash and it was really nice to meet you and your husband!  I'm glad you're getting good news from the doctors.

AMY, Cooper isn't a bed hog but he is a cuddler so I have to make my spot solid and then he moves in and cuddles!  If I have to move him, he stays where I move him until I settle then he moves in again!

Don't have anything special on the agenda for today but I'm thinking I might throw a load in the washer.  Then again, I might just settle in with my book and read!  Nice to have a day free to do that!

SHIRLEY, I hope all's well with you!  I pray for you and everyone else every day!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning, minus six outside, and I'm up having my first cup of coffee, and Farrah's fed, and I've gone through my calls and texts, so it's on to some mundaneness before tackling those phone calls this morning.

Today has been awesome!! We decided to take a trip to a town 86 miles away. On the way I had to break for a big bird that was flying down onto the road for highway buffet!!! Hokey teddy bear it was a beautiful  bald  headed eagle!!! Said to Kyle not many people have had to break for that! We have braked for moose, deer, fox skunk, dogs, cats, racoons, squirrels chippy and crows but never an eagle!  On we went and stopping to get gas I used my airmiles points plus CAA is taking .30 cents a litre off , instead of paying 68.50 for gas I paid $7.26 gotta like that! We shopped , had lunch then headed home....but I had one more stop to make. Into Fabricland I went came out with 9 meters of fabric, plus my membership and paid $12.66 instead of $211.00. Got to love gift cards
Nice to get home unpacked and now to enjoy the rest of the day.

🎃🎃🎃 HAPPY HALLOWEEN 🎃🎃🎃

JANE, Bob and I often speak about the wonderful time we had at the PA BASH, and yes, meeting you was one of the highlights🥰🥰. Sadly, so many of the attendees have passed.  Thank you for the nice welcome.

AMY, how exciting to have to BREAK for such a regal bird...a Bald Eagle 🦅....WOW.  You are right, we often have to break for other wonders of the world but a nice first for this guy.  Good for you getting your petrol at a nice discount.  Yea for you and the new fabric🥰. That is awesome 👏 I have been wondering if your son is having any issues getting diesel for his truck.  They have been talking a lot here about the shortage😩

Have a good evening EVERYFRIEND 🥰

Jenny

I've had a nice day today!  Cooper was here overnight and we went throught our usual day and I did a lot of reading and not much else.  I cleaned up dishes and putt stuff away but mostly it was just walks with Cooper and reading!  It was a pretty nice day until early evening and then we got some misty rain which is supposed to be here off and on overnight!

JENNY!  Williamsport where the Bash was is right up the road from where I live now and I grew part way up in South Williamsport!  I had to be there and meeting everyone was fun.  I remember you and Bob especially because we shared a table a couple of times and our motel rooms were close.

I'm off to the haystack pretty soon.  Tomorrow Cathy is taking me to the store to stock up on the stuff I need to make my Christmas fruit cake.  I have to get it baked and stored so it can have time to age before Christmas.  I always do this and then I take most of it to church at Christmas in my mother's name.  It was her big donation back when I was growing up and over the years, I always helped her.  When I make it, she's always in the kitchen with me!  And when it needs it's final stirring with a good strong arm, my Dad joins us just as he did when Mom made the cakes!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and may God bless us, every one!

Well we have had a good day today, Nancy dose coolering, In her collering books that has the ouLines of defferant aniamels and so forth already out lined. she dose it enough that she gets wrtter's cramps. we have Bald eaglies getting thicker around here. that is good they are so beautfle.been a while back but nancy and I were on our way up deaughter's and Sil's house and seean a pair of them purched on a dead tree's limb. they were so beautfill.about three days back we were on our way to town and seean one lone one settingg on the road eating some road kill. when Iwas a teanager living at home. My step farther had a pet dear would come up and eatout of his hand. at the time it was full growen and a full rack a pertiict ten point rack. a neighbor came over and asked to go out there and dear hunt.Sam said ok and in just a few minutes he came out of the pasture with sam's dear in his truck bed. sam went in the house and set down and cried like ababbey. we have two does wander through our back yard On a regular basis.I would love to get to be friends with them. but if I do manage it I will not give permaition for any one to hunt them. I like on tv the show where the  fellow has the pet halk and it will set on is arm wit a leather arm  Band and hunts with him. when I was A youn chield about eight years old we three boys whent out in the contery and went In a old hay barn and cough some pijens. we built a cage in the shed in our yard. and made pets out of them. the would set on our shoulders and ride. fly off and come back and land on it again. Like I have said before i have lived a full mostly happie life. but so much foul in the wourld now dayes,it would be good if god would call my # any time. good night and sweet dreams,  Ps I would love to get the flat tires fixed on the rv an get to travling again. but Nancy Is not in the mood. I would Likw to go to flordia and go to the beach and pick up sea sheels, and also would like to come uo to where AMY is and meet her and her husband. I think I and them have a lot in commen. reading between the lins I think we do lot of the same with my shop wood working. I think about takeing the cab off and the enine and transmation out of my box thuck, and Making a trailor out of it and stop defferant places and set up in mallis and do wood working.I make reacipe boxes and seader chest large and small. I do 1/8th" fimger joint in the small boxes and chest's I do in the larger chests 3/4" dove tail. when ruth and were married I made her a cedare chest 4foot long and 2fot x 2fot with a lift tray in the top with diveders in it.I also made her a julery box the same way. it was 12" wide and eigh "  frint to back and six " tall with a lift out tray as well.well it is time to bid you all good night and sweet dreams.
