To bear up under loss, to fight the bitterness of defeat and the weakness of grief, to be victor over anger, to smile when tears are close, to resist evil men and base instincts, to hate hate and to love love, to go on when it would seem good to die, to seek ever after the glory and the dream, to look up with unquenchable faith in something evermore about to be, that is what any man can do, and so be great.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our daily lives that we forget to take the time out to enjoy the beauty in life. It's like we're zombies. Look up and take your headphones out. Say "Hi" to someone you see and maybe give a hug to someone who looks like they're hurting.

Moon River

Moon river, wider than a mile
I'm crossing you in style some day
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker
Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way

Two drifters, off to see the world
There's such a lot of world to see
We're after the same rainbow's end
Waitin' 'round the bend
My huckleberry friend
Moon river and me

Good morning...

Happy Canada Day . I didn't hear any fireworks last night...maybe tonight??

Grass needs a cutting , I think that job will be done today and the rest of the week is busy.We also get our covid booster on Wed and not sure how I will be after that.  Only the first one knocked me off my feet and this is by the same company so will see.

Bubble, thank you....you did another great job on getting the start page put together.  I agree with Zane Grey,Ogden Nash,Keanu Reeves and love Moon River when sung by Perry Como.

Crow is hollering, roosters are crowing .....even the young rooster is trying and that is funny to listen to.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  My thanks to you, too, BUBBLE for a lovely start.  I like all the openings you used also.  They are all familiar!  Thank you for all the work you do for us!

Cooper arrived at his usual time!  He's had his walk and his breakfast and he went out in the yard and checked things out and is in the living room taking a rest now.  I've had breakfast, got dressed, put the house together and did the morning dishes.  I don't have a plan for the day but I bet something will turn up!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Make it your own in every way except for the part you share with us!

Thanks for using one of my graphics, Bubble.  Haven't seen it in a long time.  The page quotations are all good. Good job.

Cooler and cloudy here this morning. Nice break from the heat.

Take care,  All.

Grass is cut and trimming will be done maybe Wed??
I am beginning to like the word "maybe" "might get done" or "it can wait"

We can not fault the day, cool ,light breeze and no bugs.

Rick, I have crows holloring again! This morning they dined on  cut up weiners. Does your chipmunk come a few times in the day?

He came for three days, but then hasn't been back since. He may be there when I'm not - So it's hard to tell.
I whistle and there's always something showing up - cardinals, blue jays, squirrels, other birds.

Hello Everyfriend!  Cooper and I had a good day today!  I cooked some hotdogs and cut some of them up to put into the baked beans.  All the while they cooked and I cut, Cooper sat right at my feet and waited patiently.  When I was all finished, he got 2 slices!  I'm pretty sure he knows they're in the beans and he'll be on hand to get his share when I have them for lunch tomorrow.  He won't be here all day because Frankie is off but she's coming over to give hime a bath in the tub sometime tomorrow!

I've decided that my guest room needs new curtains before my cousin shows up on the 16th so Cathy is going to take me shopping and help me pick some out and hang them sometime this week!  I guess I'll find out when....whenever!  AMY, that's another word that's worked it's way into my vocabulary lately.  I get things done...whenever!

I'm heading for the haystack as soon as I go out and water the plants!  I almost forgot I have to do that.  It didn't rain today so I have to get out the "fake rain"!

I wish you all a peaceful night and a great day tomorrow!  See ya then!

GURRRRR, I had a phone call came back to finish up my post and it is no where to be found 😢😡. As many times this has happened to me one would think I would always hit save....

Here I go again....

🇨🇦 HAPPY CANADA DAY 🇨🇦

Thank you BUBBLE for our nice new folder.  I loved the graphics....PHYLLIS and yours.  That granddaughter of yours is so darling....I know you enjoy having her around.

My husband and I wanted to have MOON RIVER sung at our wedding .  We asked the Episcopal Priest if it was OK?
His answer, "as long as it is not recognizable" 🧐 He was not our choice of who we wanted to marry us but my priest was away for 6 months and we had to get the priest from the Air Force Base to marry us.  He was not anyone that we cared much for and the comment he made kind of put the icing on the cake.  Oh well that will soon be 57 years ago....I really should let it go‼️🤷♀️

JANE, it seems you are getting settled in after your wonderful family vacation.  I think Cooper is very happy to have you back.

AMY we are getting our Covid Boosters this week also as well as a couple of other inoculations.

RICK, I enjoy reading about your critter visits.  We used to have all kinds of little chipmunks visit when we were having a picknic or camping back in the day. A couple of days ago we saw a pure white squirrel here in our neighborhood.  I wish he would come visit our back patio like the raccoons do every day.

Nice to see you popping in CALLIE.  Your new little great grandson sure is a cutie.

Pleasant dreams to ALL....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Since Cooper wasn't going to be here early today I decided to sleep in.  However, my innards and my brain didn't agree with that!  I had the alarm set for 7 a.m. but the one in my brain went off at 5:30 as usual!  And it wouldn't allow me to go back to sleep so here I am.  I've finished my breakfast, took my daily meds and did my first eye drops.  I didn't hurry in and get dressed but that's next on my agenda!

I hope you all have a great day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  And let us know what that was!  I enjoy reading about your days!

It is a beautiful morning here...temperatures were in the 60s when I got up at 7 a.m.   But, it is spposed to go up to the high 80s by the afternoon. I should go water some  burned out plants, too, but I think I will make some pickles instead.

Take care,  All.

Good morning, I see we're all having the same weather, although ours is expected to move back into the seventies tomorrow as rain from Siberia continues to move in.

We had some wonderful firefighters and smoke jumpers from California, Idaho and Wyoming who came to help out and are staying to help snuff out the last of the Interiors fires, a big thanks goes out to them and to our own amazing firefighter folks!

Nothing new here otherwise, as the smoke has largely dissipated and the emergency breathing shelters are closing. I hope everyone's day goes as well.

Today was a busy one and tomorrow will be busy, too.  Cooper will be coming a bit before 7 and spending the night with me!  Frankie has plans with a friend for tomorrow night and she's off the next day.  I love having him overnight!

PATRICIA, I'm glad you all got help with the fires.  It's good that other places are nice enough to send help!  I sure hope it's a lot less smoky for all of you!

Today was a nice day out.  It was into the 80s but there was a nice breeze all day.  I haven't needed the A/C for several days now.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make it your day in every way!!  And don't forget to share it with us.  We miss you when you don't stop by!

Jane - 6:00 is too early to be up and about. But good morning anyway.

"we took Babe for her last car ride yesterday." Never an easy thing to do, but an end to their hurt and problems.  Babe, Max will show you around.

Oh, AMY, I'm so sorry about Babe but she's in a better place!  And she doesn't hurt any more!  And RICK is right. Max will show her around!  I still miss my doggies but Cooper is doing a pretty good job of loving when he's here!

RICK, I was up and attem too early.  Frankie called off today.  I thought she looked a bit off yesterday but I didn't mention it to her.  She texted me right after I reported in here to say she wasn't going in today!  So I have a lonely day.  If she feels better later, I might still get him overnight.  We shall see!

Good Morning Everyfriend and a special "Good Morning, AMY!"

All's well here.  When we went to bed I took out my hearing aids so I don't know if there were more blasts or not by Cooper just snuggled and didn't bark at anything!  We've been for a walk and he ate his breakfast.  I'm just having mine while I explore the computer!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  And don't forget to share it with us!  We miss you when you don't come by!

Good early morning to everyone.

Today, it's cloudy, cooler with more rain expected and a little smoke in the air from the last remaining fires. We're about twenty degrees cooler than the eighty and nineties only a week ago with temperatures remaining in the sixties, with rain at least through the tenth. The cooler temperatures and rain came to us via Siberia, and we're passing it along to Canada's Yukon Territories.

As of last Friday, we had over 300 fires in the Interior, with nine clustered within 50 miles of us. The joys of forest living. The smoke was so dense that it was even in homes with local emergency areas for those with breathing difficulties.  They evacuated many along the Elliot Highway leading into the Interior, plus the main gate and some of Mt. Denali State Park.

We're so thankful for the smoke jumpers and other fire personnel from Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, and California, plus any others I've missed. They evacuated many along the Elliot Highway leading into the Interior, plus the main gate and some of Mt. Denali State Park.

They just announced that they've closed Denali Park. "The fire is extremely rare for that area because an active fire hasn't been there for 100 years, park officials told CNN." "The Riley Fire, Mt. Denali Park, is one of 33 large wildfires currently burning across Alaska, spanning almost 300,000 acres, according to the National Interagency Fire Center."

So, any rain is doubly welcomed.

I spent yesterday out and about paying bills, plus checking my list numerous times, and still came home with some forgotten. I also met with friends for lunch and some catching up, which was nice.

[It has been a very hot day and it hasn't cooled down much this evening. I'm kind of glad that we won't be going out for 4th of July celebration.  Like Jane,  I plan to find a good movie and just ignore any noise from the community activities.

We just finished a summer time dinner of baked potato, a large  dinner salad, fresh Italian bread and NC strawberries, and grapes for a sweet dessert.  So good on a hot evening and they were all produced locally so I think it celebrated our country as well as anything else could have.

Take care,  All.

Not a lot of activity in here today.  PATRICIA, news about the fires in Alaska made it into our newspapers all the way over here in PA and it was also on the TV news reports!  It must have been bad there because I do not remember it ever being in our newspapers before.  I've seen it on the TV news reports before but not as extensively as it was this year.  I'm so glad you're seeing relief now.  It's funny!  Alaska is the only state in the union that I've never managed to visit but I sure do watch the news when it shows up!  And everything that you report interests me!  Thank you for that!

Today was a busy one.  Cooper got me up early and we got started with our walks.  Frankie came by around 1 to pick him up and she stayed and visited a bit.  She got here just as I was about to go out with him for a walk so she waited while we did that!

I make some stuffed peppers for supper.  They were in the freezer and I thought they were some kind of meat that my SIL sent up to me.  He does a lot of hunting and he knows I like venison so he always sends me some for my freezer and that's what I thought it was.  The name was squished into the middle and I couldn't tell.  When Frankie was here she told me it was stuffed pepper.  So I had a change of thought for my supper.  It was pretty good and I have enough for tomorrow too.

I already took out my hearing aids and I can hear the fireworks going off!  I guess I won't go to bed for a little while!

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! EVERYFRIEND!

I had sat down to  post but then Jesse wanted out. I needed to check the area first to make sure our visitor from yesterday was not in the back yard. Will try and post a photo of our vistor.

Yesterday went well, met up with Bri and exchanged goodies. We came away with 10 jars of freezer raspberry jam! Did a quick shop at Costco then home.

We didn't have any ill effects from our Covid shot thank goodness.

Patricia, that is so sad about the fires. Not onlt people are being displaced but animals also!!

Jane, hope you got some sleep last night..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Cooper is here and we've had our walk in between rain storms!  He had his breakfast and I had mine.  The day is started.  Sometime today Cathy is coming over and we're going to go look for new curtains for the guest bedroom.  I want to get that done before my cousin arrives from California!  And I need a couple other items from WM, too!

So far, that's all I have planned for today but I'm sure other stuff will come up.  I was just out in the yard with Cooper and noticed that a sort of new little tree was leaning a bit so I fixed that problem.  It's not the best job but it's the best job I could do so I'm accepting it until Christy comes up and tells me it's a nice try but it's all wrong and does a better job!

I'm off to see what calls!  I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  But don't forget to tell us how you did that!  It might work for us too!!

The roofers are here to repair the weather damage.  I feel sorry for them ...it is very hot already and suppose to go up to 100 degrees this afternoon. I suppose if it becomes dangerous they will finish another day.

I am not in the mood for breakfast but guess I'll go do it.

Take care.

HI!  PHYLLIS, the people down the street that are working on the outside of their house were out in the heat today working!  I kept expecting them to throw in the towel as it got into the high 80s but they were still working at 4:30 when Frankie picked up Cooper!  I'm sure glad it wasn't me out there.  Just taking Cooper for a walk did me in!  I kept wondering if your guys stayed!

Cathy took me shopping for home and kitchen stuff today and I was glad to get back home!

Now I'm ready for the haystack.  I won't have Cooper of any visists from Frankie for the next 2 days.  She went to her Mom's in Maryland for the weekend!  Gonna be a bit lonely around here!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Stop by and say "HI"!  We need the company!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I don't have Cooper today and I miss him!  I took my walk alone this morning.  Two of the neighbors are having Garage Sales so there's traffic on our roads that isn't usually there.  Everyone says "hello" when they see a walker.  I think they might think the walker is a garage sale shopper too!

I've had breakfast, put the house together, read the paper and did the crossword puzzle.  Now what???

I hope you all have a great day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning, we remain in the fifties with heavy rains that are expected through the eleventh. Area rivers are rising and expected to crest on Monday.

Today there are 345 fires burning in the Interior with as of Thursday, 538,087 acres burned. Denali State Park remains closed but the outside tourist traps, Glitter Gulch, opposite the main gates have reopened. The rain is having an effect, just not as immediate as we hoped. At least the clouds are now purple with rain and not yellow with smoke.

I hope everyone had a nice fourth and a better weekend.

Phyllis, I hope you and the roofers are having better temperatures and Jane, did you browse any sales? I'm at the point where I'm trying to get rid of more than I need to acquire.

Amy, Farrah is back to her old self, following me around, and complaining about her food. I hope you, Kyle, and Jesse are doing well.

Rick, we don't have chipmunks here, only in the Southeast, but numerous pigeons, gulls and several types of smaller birds. I envy those of you closer to the animals than us in the city.

Today, clothes, and yesterday, linens, have been laundry days, and yesterday I vacuumed the entire apartment, so I'm keeping with my new resolve to stop procrastinating. My main problem has been too many flat surfaces that end up cluttered by items "momentary" set down and left.

Good Evening. I'm sitting on the patio watching the birds having their bedtime snack. It's the second evening in a row that it hasnt been too hot and/or too windy to do this. I love the long summer evenings!!

My dil's mother had a stroke 3 weeks ago. Because of her age (92) and other health issues, she was in a Hospice unit of an OKC hospital. She lived in a smallish town about 30 miles away and had 5 children all of who live in the area except one son and family...and Miss Ellen. She was my Grands other grandmother and we were friends but not close.
She died last Saturday. Funeral was Wednesday. Ellen flew in last Monday and sang at the funeral. I know that was hard for her but she showed her professional side and it was beautiful.
I didn't participate in any of the services or visitations so have had a quiet week...mostly        reading ebooks that I borrow from the library.
And that's what's going on in my life.

Time to close down for the evening.

CALLIE, it was nice to stop by and see you were here but sorry it was bad news that brought you here.  She lived to a nice old age and it sounds like she had lots of family around to share here life.  I'm sure she's in a better place now.

I don't have Cooper this weekend so I took my daily walks alone.  Tonight, I met up with Kim and her husband.  They own the trailer court down the street from me and Kim was one of Christy's hight School companions.  We bought our first camper from her grandfather so we've known them forever.  We had a very nice "come up to date" chat!

The dishwasher is in the drying cycle so I don't have to worry about water on the floor when I get up.  The dishes will be cooled off and ready to put away!  And now it's time to put me to bed!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Don't forget to pop in here and tell us what your up to.  We miss you when you don't.

Good morning..

Yesterdays storm didn't happen   Love it when the weatherman is wrong but we did have a couple of gentle rains. Now they are calling for more rain this afternoon which is fine.
A day of rest and I just might start another project.......maybe.

Callie, it seems the older we get the faster we are losing freinds. I love watching the birds, antics they go through and the songs they sing. I see that a song spaarrow has pluged one of the bird houses with small sticks so another bird can't use it again this year.

Jane, I like the put me to bed time...now I am listening to crow belt out his call. Roosters were earlier this morning..guess they don't want to sleep in on a Sunday.

Patricia, we are ok, thank you. Put "things" away yesterday and getting back into a routine again. Happy to read Farrah is much better.

Rick, wild life here is interesting .the wee fox has been back the neighbour was saying as we chatted by the fence. Also a doe has been coming over to the neighbour beside him and eating at their all you can eat buffet garden.. :2funny:

Better get on with my day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's up to 71 degrees and heading for a high of 90 later today.

Grandson Kyle and his new wife, Tori made a trip up from Philadelphia this weekend to meed his mom's new doggie.  And whenever he's in Lewisburg in the summer he needs a trip to The Fence Restaurant.  It's been there forever and when they go they always take me along.  So I have to get ready for church and they will pick me up after and we'll have lunch together!  I love it!

AMY, just take the day off!  You deserve it!

I've had my morning walk and I'm off to the showers!  Take this day and make it your own in every way!  But don't forget to check in with us!  Me miss you if you don't!!!

Well, the day is closing down.  It's getting dark out there.  I had an email from Frankie that they made it home safely so I'll have to be ready to meet Cooper a little before 7 a.m. tomorrow.  So I'm ready for the haystack!

I got some stuff done today and tomorrow's another day!  AMY, did you manage to take today off?  I have a good guess what your answer will be to that question!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way.  And don't forget to tell us about it!  We'll miss you if you don't stop by!

Good morning..

Going to be another hot one today..and rain for the next three days.

Meeting up with Bri again today..then home to trim the lawn.

Neighbour called to say the fox was at the front but when I looked he had moved on. Little did I know it had gone into the culvert over by the other neighbour. A few hours later that neighbour phoned to say look across the road there were TWO kits out looking for food. Just hope they stay away from the chickens at the back!

Jane, almost ,since rain is in the forecast I did mow the lawn...and do some laundry. Sort of an easy day.Did you guess right? :))

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning to AMY and anyone elso who shows up as the day passes!

Yep! AMY, I guessed right!  I don't think it's possible for you to actually take a day off!  Something always grabs your attention!

I have new curtains to put up in the spare bedroom.  They are darkening ones so the next time Cindy sleeps in there she won't have to hang a blanket over the window.  But since Cathy was with me when I bought them and she ORDERED me to stay off the step ladder, I have to wait until she comes to help me hang them.  I've been trying to think how I could hang them without using the step ladder and so far, no ideas!  I want' that room ready for the arrival of my cousin and I still have to make the bed after the curtains are hung!

I think I'm going to put s stew in the crock pot today!  I have the meat thawing and I better get going!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Come by and share it with us.  We don't want to be missin our friends!

We're starting off today at 80° and muggy. I wouldn't guess it will get better. So far the A/C is holding up - I use a big window unit. The water I put out for the animals seems to be gone within a day now, and suppose much to evaporating.
Jane - DON'T try to put up those curtains while you are alone there. remember, SAFETY before anything else.

Still hot here but not as bad as last Friday. The temp reached 106 while they were fixing the roof. They  worked until 7 o'clock and still didn't finish. When they removed the gutter there was wood rot all across the back of house and of course it had to be fixed.  Bigger job...more money.  They will come back to finish putting new gutter on some time this week.
I will be very glad when this is all done.

Amy, for years we would see a fox come through the backyard, take a drink from the bird bath, and go on his/her way.  I loved seeing it...beautiful gray fox.

Jane,  your company will understand why your family has forbidden you climbing on a ladder.  I have been told that,  too.

Take care,  All.

I'm heading for the haystack.  I got a lot done today.  Cathy came over and we hung the curtains.  She did the climbing and I did the handing so she didn't have to go up and down much!  And the new curtains are hung in the bedroom and ready for my cousin.

PHYLLIS, I know my cousin is not going to be critical when he comes.  I just want to have things nice for him.  He lives in California and for the past 3 years I've seen him once a year!  We sort of grew up together in the same town but we've been separated by a great distance for many years now!  I think we would get together often if we lived closer.  We seem to have a lot in common!

I'll have Cooper again tomorrow.  We had a good day together today.  He's my buddy!  But when his Mom comes for him, I'm out!  She's number ONE with him!

I wish you all a good night's sleep and a pleasant tomorrow.  We'll be seeing you when you stop by!  It's the thing to do!!  Good Night!

Good morning.

Weather is not going to be nice , with a storm later on today.

Might get the work outside done today if weather permits if not I can tackle inside cupboards.

Jane, happy to read your curtains are hung and without you going up the ladder! Kyle is forbidden to go up a ladder having fallen off them TWICE! I gave him the choice either call me and I will do the climbing or......the ladder will be put out with a sign  free to a good home.

Phyllis, 106° is not nice!I can't imagine working in that!

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've been up and attem for a while.  Cooper is here and we've had our first walk of the day.  I have an eye dr. appointment at 10 but it's right down the road about 5 minutes from here.  I'll have to go in and get my shower and dress neatly for that but not right away.

AMY,  Cathy actually hid my step stool from me a while back.  And when I told her I needed to change the light bulb in the hall or I'd be falling over a little black doggie who wound her way around my ankles in the dark hall, she got it out with orders that SHE would do the climbing.  Of course, she also allows Frankie to climb for me!

I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to tall us how you did that!  We care!

Not much action in here today.  It's nice to see both Rick and AMY!

RICK, I've been trying to stay comfortable in this heat but it's not easy.  If I keep the A/C on in the house I end up having to put on socks and a jacket to keep warm inside.  Then when I go out I take the jacket off and I still come home sweating!  Not my kind of weather either!

As you can see in my previous note, my ladder did disappear and when it came back, it came with strict orders!

My Dr. trip today was the dentist.  The young lady did my cleaning and then the Dr. came in to do his checkup.  Since I was there the last time they got a new dentist.  And since mine was off today, the new guy did my checkup!  I think he was about 14 years old.  My gosh they all look so young these days!  You don't suppose it's because I'm getting OLD, do you!

I wish you all a peaceful night'S sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Come by and share your day with us.  We miss you when you stat away!

Good morning..

We are to get the residue from Beryl today.I hope it is just rain .

Since it has been raining the grass trimming will have to wait.  Need to do odd jobs today, vacuum seal some chickens that I picked up for our friend. These we on sale for 1.99 a lb. and since he lives off grid we will keep them in the freezer till he needs them.

Jane, have fun with Cooper and be mindful of the heat when walking. Even the pavement can get hot and burn dogs paws.

Rick, when it is this hot  doing little to nothing is just perfect. Stay cool.

Phyllis, no sign of the fox. Hope they have moved deeper into the woods away from the roadways.

Patricia, busy day ahead?

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Another hot day with rain predicted.  I don't think I will go out today.  I must clear out the freezer to make room for a box of meat to be delivered on the 14th.  It is a good day to have my arms in the cold freezer for a while.

Good  to remind people to take care  of  their  animals in this heat, Rick.  Too many people  around  here are careless of their pet's health.

Take care,  All.

When Cooper and I go for walks, he seems to know where he can go that it's all grass or gravel driveway.  He has different ways every time we go out.  And we we come to a paved driveway, he runs across!  He's a little smarty and I follow his lead!  Thanks for the warnings!  We don't stay out long in this weather!  And our first walk is around 7 a.m.  It's usually not searing at that time!

Good morning, we're back into the seventies again with blue skies and cotton ball clouds, but the rains will return overnight and will alternate with sunshine until August and it's rains return.

The McDonald's fire is still going strong, as of yesterday,"We've had chill temperatures in the forties and fifties, with steady rain for over a week now and while the fires aren't growing as furiously, they're still going. Joining the support crews from Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and California, are Colorado smoke jumpers. As of Sunday, the fire sits at a 0% containment rate and officials are hoping to contain the fire by the beginning of October." From Colorado news sources, July ninth; "An Alaska wildfire that started June 8th has grown over 172,000 acres.

The Alaska fire, known as the McDonald fire, was initially caused by a lighting strike. 80 firefighters have been called to help tame the flames, and 10 of them are from the Colorado River and Fire Rescue Wildland Division."

The past 8 days of rain have brought the Interior rivers to near flood stage with some minor road overflows and helped to damp down some of the brush and other fire fuels.

I heard yesterday that Vegas was 120 on Monday and 115 yesterday. It must be interesting there with tourists, gamblers, parties and those types of temperatures.

Other than that, I'm doing a laundry load of whites and getting a haircut this afternoon.

Now I know where all that smoke went that was so bad with the fires;

From Bismark, North Dakota; "If you look outside, you may notice a haze or maybe even a smell of smoke in the air. An upper northwest flow is bringing in more smoke from wildfires out in Alberta, Canada. There are also fires around Alaska and Washington state." "Because of the northwest flow pattern that's aloft, that's directing the smoke directly into North Dakota.

Semerad and Jones both said that these fires are large, and we could see the haze linger into the next few weeks.

Most of it is staying aloft right now, explained Megan Jones, a Meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Bismarck. "But, there is always that potential for that smoke to mix down to the surface. That's something we're always keeping an eye on because it will start to impact visibilities as well as the air quality impacts at the surface," said Jones.

Ww just now had a heavy rain storm and it's not over.  It was bad enough to take out the TV signal.  The TV just came back on and the rain slowed down but it not over yet.

PATRICIA,  Alaska is sure having the fires.  It makes me glad I don't live there!  You do a great job of letting us know what's happening there!

The thunder just cracked overhead.  I'm sure the rain isn't finished!  I'm finishing my walking for today in the small circles and up and down the hall inside the house tonight!  I'm not taking any chances!  At least the wind isn't blowing hard enough to do any damage....yet!

Good late morning. Jane I feel the same about those states with hurricanes and tornados, I don't understand their mindset.

Amy, I have a good spam guide on my phone, but lately, I've had some crazy spam emails in my spam folder.

I've been doing my laundry loads on different days, yesterday was whites. It breaks up an onerous task into smaller bits.

Nothing really on tap today, I deleted numerous computer bits and pieces and decided to be more thoughtful about what I was saving. After that, I've been on YouTube most of the morning.

Yesterday we got a bit of a break in the temps. I don't think it got over 80oF. Last I checked in the afternoon, it had only reached 78oF. According to the local weather, we are still getting scattered showers and thunderstorms, the last of the Beryl remnants. Beryl stayed well west of us choosing instead to head up through Ohio and through Canada to hit the Northeast. Originally we were to be just inside the edge of the main storm. Since that didn't happen, we got practically no rain. The weather map shows us in a moderate drought condition now.

This morning I woke up early. I actually got up before Oscar!

Just a few minutes ago I again saw the big yellow fluff-ball and its' smaller black companion. Except for once, every time I've seen them they are together, no other kitties. I have begun to think they might be feral.

Good Morning!  My day is off and running!  I was up early, made the bed, got dressed, had my breakfast and greeted Cooper's arrival.  Also, Frankie is feeling better today than yesterday.  It's good she was able to get a Drs. advice an find out what to do.  Also, Cooper has had his walk and his breakfast and we've been out in the yard together to fill the bird feeder!  Some of the birdies seem able to bear his presence.  they were at the feeder even before he came back in the house.

Now I'm on my own.  I have some chicken and taters to cook for dinner but that's later!  I also have the paper to read!  But I think I'll take a short eye rest before I do that!

The weather here has been nice also.  I spent the night with all the windows open.  I love sleeping with the windows open.  It's the way I grew up!  No A/Cs back in my growing up days!

Right now, it's 70 degrees here and heading for a high of 87 at 4 this afternoon but it's not going to last that high for long!

Have a great day, Everyfriend!  Make it the best you've had for a while and don't forget to stop by.  We miss you when we don't "see" you!

Good morning, we're back with sunny skies, no clouds and 65 presently with highs due later in the late seventies, early eighties. We're expecting high winds and scattered thundershowers again on the weekend. My meet and greets are over, basic morning chores are finished and everyone fed and coffee's made. So, here I am on the web again.

Amy, MG, other than small birds, I don't see any wildlife here, but in the northwest part of the city, where two rivers loop into small creeks, ponds and sloughs, there are moose, swans and other waterbirds. Some of the tourists on the bus have been half giddy after visits to the wildlife refuge.

I miss those days when I, with my camera, used to spend hours in the public viewing areas and on some of the public back trails. Now, only the public viewing areas are open to the public, with the few public trails closed now. Too many people ignored the rules and signs and let their dogs run free on the trails.

It has been a very busy week for us AND it is hotter than heck here.  I know I have no room to complain about 100 degree temps because we have basically no humidity here, but HOT is HOT no matter where you are😩

We have been moving some items from our dil's home to ours.  I am trying to do a bit of updating my home with other's nice things.  While doing so we have been hauling things to the charity place.  We have cleaned out a lot of stuff.....just exactly what I dread doing but I am hanging in there and doing pretty well.  We have 4 boxes with our sons things that they really do not want however they are going to get the stuff and throw it out themselves ‼️‼️‼️

I had my last on home PT this week.  I am so greatful for what I have been allowed to have but it sure was hard to say goodbye to my special therapist.  She has become quite a good friend and a confidant to me.  She helped me as much mentally as she has physically.  We are going to try to meet at a pool and she will help me do positive exercises in the water.  She is a GEM🥰

I am headed back downstairs to continue my clearing out.....the real calling card is it is VERY cool down there‼️ Nearly 🥶

My best to you all and hopefully I will do better at posting.  I miss you all and hope everyone is doing well🦋

Good morning,,
A cool sunny morning that will soon change.
A day of rest here..did double duty yesterday so I could have a day of rest.

Jenny good to see you! I think it is the humidity that does us in.......can't take it either.

Jane, you must have had a busy day..you didn't pop back in.

Rick how are you handling this hot weather?

Patricia, I am thinking maybe the fox kits have moved on. Neighbour hasn't seen them in so we both hope they have moved into the woods. They have no parents to teach them to hunt ,maybe instinct will kick in.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

nO i DIDN'T "POP IN" LAST NIGHT.  i WAS ALREADY IN BED WHEN i REMEMBERED THAT i HADN'T "popped in".  And with the extra eye drops I'm doing now, I can't seem to see as well so please forgive the mistakes!  I need Cindy here to give my work some size like she did down at her house.  Maybe Frankie or Cathy know how to do that.  I could probably figure it out .... if I could see it better!

Cooper is here and we had a walk and he had his breakfast and now he's at the door asking to go out in the yard.  I need to get a shower and get dressed and ready for church.  Cathy said to let her know if I need a ride and Ive decided that I'm going to try to go this morning.

JENNY, it's always a surprise when you pop in!  I love to hear from you and I keep hoping you'll pop in more often.  I'm so glad to hear that you're feeling better and that you found someone who helps you!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to shere it with us!

Good morning, it is challenging to think of any Arctic terrain as a desert, which they are. I mention this because of the lack of humidity. You roast rather than melt. We're having rain again, we're in a period of rain one day and sunshine the next. Monday, the 22nd., we'll be back in the eighties again. August usually brings rain as we cool down in preparation for autumn.

However, the rivers are running at bank level, so more rain will be problematic. It's difficult to balance what was with what climate change has brought.

Amy, I'm hoping that the kits have moved away from the road and hopefully back in the bush where they belong? Did they scream? The black foxes we have seemed to love doing that at night, or they did back when we went upriver to the cabin in the summer. It's eerie and frightening if you are not aware of what is and from.

I was bored yesterday and got into all my kitchen cupboards as one led to another. I started out dividing all my plastic storage into those that had lids and those without. And of course, I had to re-wash everything. I use plastic for storage and glass for the freezer and refrigerator.

That led to my pulling everything out of my cupboards, washing the cupboards and then culling all the boxes and putting what remained into the plastic containers. Then, of course, I had trouble sleeping as my mind was still in "what if" mode.

Today, I keep thinking about those last holdouts, the junk cupboard above the refrigerator. And tackling under the sinks.  Then, I'm debating on moving my couch where the plant shelves are and putting my couch either up against the island or where the shelves were.

Pray for me...

LOL Patricia!!! I need your energy!! As for the kits, no they are still here, saw one today as I was taking brush that I cut to the side of the garage. I now know not to whistle when I put food out for crows as the fox also identify that with food. Now I wait till I hear the baby crows call and  then go out with food ,they watch me and dive in when I get back into the house. There was 7 crows here at once!  I guess they now have me trained.. :2funny:

Rick, yes, I do remember! We did get the  bittercold but snow wasn't bad.

Chicken in oven, creamed potatoes, carrots and a mixture of zuchinni, onions, garlic and tomatoes fried together for supper tonight..

Amy, I've read that crows and pigs tie for the intelligence of a two or three-year-old, so they're probably guiding you every step as the kids do.

It's not so much energy but an inheritance from my mother. She was almost always in "what if" mode. The only difference is I don't have three kids for the grunt work.

I'm a little late heading for the haystack tonight but I guess that's OK.  Cooper won't be coming over tomorrow because Frankie has the day off.  She did say she might be ofver in the afternoon to give him a bath!  But I won't have to hurry in the morning.  I do want to get a walk in before it gets blistering hot!

AMY,  I sure hope those little foxes find their way back to the woods and some friends out there!

I have 2 Cardinal families at my bird feeder and that keeps me close to the window!  They realy are beautiful!

My cousin will be arriving from California on Tuesday and will spend the night here on his way to his brother's place down south of here.  I look forward to his visit every year.  We grew up close enough to each othr that we visited often but after he moved to California, I didn't get to see much of him.  We did keep in touch by mail and then on our phones but it's always nice to have a visit!

Better get to bed.  My eyes are entering the "clunk-shut" mode!  It's not fun!  Good Night Everyfriend!

We are heading to Vail tomorrow to get away from the mess we have made in the basement and from the heat.  Our Boston son and one grandson are here and we cannot wait to see them.

Sleep well EVERYFRIEND 🥰

Good morning...

Going to be another hot one and may get some rain.  Phone calls to make today.  I think the receiver for the satellite dish is acting up and needs to be replaced.

The meal last night was good but oh boy that chicken is big! I see pot pies and soup being made from the leftovers.

Zuchinnis are coming on in the garden but no sign of the butternut squash yet.

Patricia, yes, both pigs and crows are highly intelligent.Pigs if given the chance are also clean...they will mess only in one spot in their pen not all over like other animals.

Jenny, enjoy your time away ,a break with will give you fresh outlook when you come back.

Jane, you are so luck! I would love to see cardinals.......I have only seen 1 in the 30 years we have been here.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I've had a walk this morning before it got out of the 70s and I was still beginning to sweat by the time I got home.  It's going to be "one of those days" today!

I have some cleaning to do before my cousin arrives tomorrow.  His room is ready but the rest of the house needs a touch up.

This is going to be a shortie because I have to get busy.  I don't work straight through like I used to back in the olden days!  I have to work and break, work and break, work and break!  And sometimes the breaks get longer than the works.

AMY,  your remark about the cardinals reminds me that I need to go fill the bird feeder.  Have a great day Everyfriend!  I'll try to check back later and see what you're all up to!

Boy!  Where is Everyfriend?  I was the last person in here way back this morning!

Two of my daughter's friends and one of their aunts stopped by on their way to get ice cream at an Amish place out in the country and they took me with them.  It was fun!  I've known both these kids sinde they were little.  They were growing up friends with my kids and they still are friends!  Neat!

Good Night All!  I might not be around tomorrow.  I have a Dr. appt and my California Coming for the night!

Morning. 73o here to go up to 93o, which means it is likely to get up to 95o or above. They have been a bit optimistic with their top temps lately. Anyway, the rain showers we were to get yesterday never made it to the ground. Next rain predicted for tomorrow afternoon. Their rain predictions have also been a bust lately. We are in a moderate drought condition now, but I haven't seen many townships even requesting that people not water their lawns or wash cars. It appears that the deer are playing it cool and staying under the trees. The birds are not expending much energy either.

Neither of the cats are eating well these last two or three days. Shan can afford to lose weight, Oscar can't. A trip to the vet may be in the offing if they don't perk up soon. Meanwhile I have an appointment with the Dr. tomorrow to look at a slightly itchy rash I developed and can't get rid of.

My sister's latest adventure was with a grocery order that got delivered to the wrong address. She has a lot of trouble with people finding her place even though she gives explicit instructions. They must not pay attention to her directions, and instead, follow their GPS map which steer them wrong. Anyway, Giant discontinued sending out PeaPod with regular drivers and instead are using Instacart to deliver from the local store. These people either can't read, don't understand the directions, or don't even look at her directions. Wrong move Giant! Now she is getting deferent people delivering each time instead of drivers who come from the warehouse and who know the route and will call if they have trouble getting to her. As for me, I notice a marked difference in quality of perishables delivered from my local grocery store, and substitutions are not as acceptable. We have no idea (nor did the drivers) know why Giant, just in this region, discontinued the PeaPod service. PeaPod still operates in the other regions. Sue, after waffling a good bit, is apparently giving them another chance, but she will not be renewing her delivery membership next month. My contract is up in October and I will be following suit. Both Weis and Giant are closer and easier to get to from here than they were before I moved.

Good morning..
Liquid sunshine out there this morning. Yesterday we had a dandy storm, caausing some flooding to the south of us. Thunder rumbled for some time and the rain although easy at times became a pounding down pour!

Picking up meds this morning then home to chase dust bunnies.

MG ,we have been having rain every thee days or so. Sure makes the grass grow keeping me busy on the lawnmower. Maybe it is the heat that is throwing the cats off their eating?

Jane ,enjoy your time with your cousin. I understand your work break work break, a system that also works for me now!

Callie, hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Better get the day started.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Thanks. I get a bit beside myself when they aren't feeling well.

Amy, that might be the case. I have central air in the apartment. It works well, but I think Shan with his long hair misses sitting in front of the window air conditioner. Oscar, on the other hand, likes it a bit warmer. Oscar's is short. When I first got him, his hair was very thin. Even though it has thickened with good nutrition, he much prefers the warm. It does seem, though, that outdoor weather affects us even if we are in. My sister was just remarking about that the other day.

Jane, yes that is how it goes .

MG, we always worry when our furkids are not up to par. They can't speak but speak volumes in their actions.

Patricia, did you sleep in? :)))
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe July 1 , 2024
Post by: patricia19 on July 16, 2024, 02:29:53 PM
Good morning. No, Amy, I didn't sleep in. I've spent the last three hours on little finishes to bigger jobs and trying to find places for other items I've displaced. It's presently 10:15, and I'm taking a break on the computer.

Farrah isn't happy, as I haven't bought treats since June, and I'm not planning on it. She always has dry available, which she sees as a last resort, and she's finicky about the little dab of wet food she gets. If she still turns up her nose after 15 minutes, into the trash it goes.

MG, adult cats are lactose intolerant and while some only have mild indigestion, some, mainly senior cats and those with other issues, can become seriously ill. I found that out by giving Farrah a bit of dinner cheddar cheese, fingernail sized. She became lethargic and very ill. Cats can also develop allergies as adults, just as humans do.

Jane, enjoy your time with your cousin. It can be hard with family far away.

As with so many of our friends, hot and hotter here but clouding over now so maybe we'll get some relief.

Almost time to think of dinner.  I had a delivery from Papa Spuds today with some nice butter beans (baby lima beans to non-Southerners) and heirloom tomatoes and lots of watercress.  A couple of beef patties to go with sounds just right to me.
Dessert?  Maybe a small dish of Rocky  Road ice cream...we'll  see.

Take care.

Huh! Same as yesterday. Supposed to rain, none in sight on the radar. Weather channel has it all going well south of us. Well, while we could use some, W. Virginia, Virginia and Maryland need it more. Maybe a few clouds will send sprinkles later.

Not as hot today ,which is just fine. Starting out at 62° and may get rain later this evening.

Checking on cucumbers this morning and may do Kyle's dill pickles...maybe.

The two kits were seen walking down the road then over into the woods..so far they are doing ok on their own. When I spoke to the wildlife sanctuary they said I could put out dog food for them at same place same time but I would rather they learn to hunt and not depend on this. Will see how it goes.

Good Friday morning‼️

This week has passed quickly for us.  We had a delightful time in Vail with our family.  Eating, swimming and talking non stop. As typical Colorado weather, we had a couple of afternoon rain storms; one wonderful one lasting for nearly 4 hours.  So good to have as it is starting to get rather crispy in spots in the mountains and moisture is always needed and welcomed.

We took up a box of childhood mementos to our son and had a fun time looking through them.

Our grandson, Warner wanted to come home with us for a couple of days.  We had quite the day yesterday spent with our granddaughter, Kate and Warner.  These two cousins are 3 weeks apart in age and have always been great pals.

Our newest dil has a horse and we went to the stable with her and watched her prepare the horse for a ride.  The kiddos enjoyed the experience very much. Warner loves horses very much as he  spent 3 years in the past at a month long exclusive camp here in Colorado.  I did not know how accomplished Warner became at riding and jumping.

We all went to lunch then Kate had a two hour dance class.  We picked her up then the two cousins went to the pool and had great fun together swimming.  We had take out food and went back to Kate's house where they enjoyed a couple more hours together.  This grandma is very happy🥰

AMY, it did us a world of good to get out of here and away from our cleaning out job in our basement‼️

JANE, I am happy for you being able to spend time with your cousin even if it was for a short time❣️

We are taking Warner to a friends home and they will drive up to Vail to spend time together this weekend.  Her dad and my son have been friends for years...way before the children were born.

I wish you all a nice day and weekend.

One other thing bragging grandma has to comment on.....Kate, our dancing girl is no longer dancing with the group she has been dancing with for years.  Kate was chosen to be on the freshman Pom line at school and is one of two freshmen to be on student council.  Yesterday she told us she has been chosen to move up to the Jr. Varsity cheer line.  She was the ONLY one asked to do this.  We are very proud and happy for her.  She will miss her dancing compition team but these two school connected things will keep her very busy❣️

Good morning, we're back to cloudless sunshine, the first in many weeks, until the 26th. Nothing new here, Farrah is fine, meet and greets are doing well, and I'm still re-arranging, cleaning, and generally trying new ways to style a rectangle with slides at one end.

It sounds as if everyone is doing the same. Jenny, your Vail trip sounds wonderful, getting to spend time with family is always nice, isn't it?

Jane, I'm glad you were able to spend time with your cousin. We are having the same temperatures here, starting in the low fifties and ending in the low eighties.

Rick, enjoy your day, it seems we're all to have a nice one.

Good morning, Amy, I hate having to wait on others to fix things. It all seems to be spent waiting for a small amount of fixing!

Hey Ya'll!  It's been a busy and a fun day!  I didn't do much around here but Cooper and I took 3 long walks and the weather was fine.  Our high today was only 82.  I can take that!  And the low was 64!  I can take that in the summer, too!  No Cooper for the weekend.  Frankie has off.  She said she's going to be cleaning and doing laundry tomorrow but she might be over for a visit on Sunday!

I'll be heading for the haystack pretty soon and I'm not going to set the alarm.  I want to see what my natural wake up time will be!  I have some things planned but nothing urgent!

Jenny, it was nice to read your report and it sounds like youre having good things going on!  Your trip to Vail sounds neat and having the kids around is alway special!

PATRICIA,  keep on keeping on!  It sounds like you're making progress!  That's always a good feeling!

I wish Everyfriend a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Make the day your own in every way and try to share it with us, too!

Good afternoon, 7:05 PM, and I've shut down for the day and returned to the computer. I finished the living room, even crawled around and washed down the baseboards and vaccummed under, over and around all the furniture.

Basically, everything has to go on one side or the other in a long rectangle while not obstructing the slides per management rules. After eleven years, I've tried all the possible arrangements, but I keep trying.

I took down to donations, several magnet backed note pads, grocery lists, notes, and other assorted pads I've purchased and never used, along with all the chicken pate cat food that Farrah won't touch and four separate types of budgeting columnar sets I also never used.

I'm not one for journaling, creating a to-do list, or using a planner, What works is the list app on my cell and yearly calendar. I simply list the income at the start of the month and each bill on the day that it's due. What remains rolls over to the next month.

All seven plants have fresh water and were sprayed with Neem oil, watered and setback on the top of my shelves placed in a new configuration. So, the last places for tomorrow is that dreaded junk cupboard over the refrigerator and two walk-in closets.

All this started because a structural inspection was planned last month. I picked up a rearrangement idea and have been unable to put it down until I've seen it through.

I wish I had your housecleaning and organization energy Patricia. I never seem to be able to get side-tracked or keep to one room as a time. Nothing seems to get fully done. I still have stuff in the middle of this room to find places for and stuff in the bedroom under the bed, under the bed and out of sight, and two boxes (one big one completely full of yarn) in the living area that serves as a backer to the sofa. Well, at least that give the cats less places to scratch at my furniture. I have stretchy covers on them which are actually holding up, but that can't last. Shan actually finally made a tiny hole in one spot last week. No matter how many scratch pads and poles I put out, Shan goes for the furniture. Some day I want to get a sofa or console table there for more storage and do away with the boxes. One more thing I want to do is to get a twin size bed. My current bed spreads are too big and heavy for the tiny laundry machines. I am loath to take them to the laundromat, especially since one is a line dry only bed size cat cover. It is heavy enough dry. Imagine lugging that home still wet.

It actually got below 700 overnight, and very early yesterday morning we had some showers. Today to be in the mid-80's with some showers this evening, or so the weather report on this computer says. I never really trust whoever Microsoft uses to report weather.

Another family move. My niece, her husband and youngster are finally making the move from NYC south to very near where my youngest sister, Barb, and hubby live in North Carolina. In fact, the house they bought is only a 20 minute drive from them and closer to Barb's favorite beach. Sounds like plenty of babysitting duties and family outings are in the offing for the grandparents.

Good Morning!  I just finished my breakfast and when I finish here I'm off for a walk.  I was reminded of something last night that I forgot.  My daughter, Christy is coming up from Maryland today to spend a few days.  I wonder if her daughter, Frankie remembered that?  She'll be here until Tuesday.  she usually stays with me because Frankie just doesn't have room for her!  And sometimes Frankie and Cooper join us!  I guess we;ll find out!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning..

Temp is 48° and sunny out..now this is nice weather!
Repairman came and replaced part of the dish so I hope that was the problem.
Managed to wash floors before her came and cut grass after he left! Laundry today and get some of the garden watered from the rain barrel.

Patricia, mercy! You need to bottle that energy and organization skills!!

Jane, enjoy your time with Christy!

Jenny, sounds like you had a great time away with family!

Rick ,how are your temps your way? We are heading back into the fry weather so said the weatherman.  Friend in Manitoba also said they were under a heat dome and it is heading this way. :(

Better shake a leg and get going.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

70's and 80's here for the coming week, but we're to get some rain. The brown grass will like that. I no longer can cut the grass so have someone do it. Of course the mower they use brings in lots of weeds and crab grass from other places. No longer a nice lawn.

Went to the Mennonite market and came away with 1/2 bushel plus part of a 3 quart basket of cucumbers. That put my day in.....20 pints of mustard pickle and 15  pints dill pickles. I also have another batch of mustard bread and butters to do tomorrow.

Jane. THANK YOU!!!!!

Maybe laundry can wait till Monday??  We also had a friend drop in for a visit..

A day of rest here after I do the pickles, they are all cut and ready to goso very little work to do.

Jane, I am canning..now do you know??

Rick, the pumpkin leaves were wilting so instead of the watering can I watered them with buckets of water...hope that made them feel better.

Patricia, did you get all your organization done?

MG, do you have a stroller, one that you see folks use when going for groceries, maybe that would carry the weight of your blanket?

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Yes, I do, Amy. It is still out in the car after the move. I don't have room to put it in the under-stairs closet. I forgot about that. I've never used a public laundry before in my life. This will be a new learning experience for me. So, now I have two big blankets to take. I have no idea what the laundromat prices are these days. I'll have to look into it so I have the right change.

About a dozen youngsters were out late last night shooting of fireworks directly at the roof corner of the apartment building I live in instead of into the small field directly across the street from them. Since that is where I live, at the corner, it put me in the line of fire and at least two of them didn't make it high enough banging near the wall, one close to the window. Oscar was there at the window, but since he was asleep and turned away from the window, he didn't notice. Shan, on the other hand, out in the living room did. I was surprised that Gatsby (upstairs) didn't get rattled and start barking. I have my ideas about who instigated it, but it was too dark to see who they were. I considered it aggressive because they were directing fire at the apartment building. When I first moved in I saw some aggressive behavior regarding one of our resident students. So there may be history there. Nevertheless it is quite disturbing to see people lobbing fireworks at your residence. I do not take kindly to people shooting things off near houses. It also reminded me of when I lived on a college campus in Bethlehem, we had a number of Muslim families living there too. When Desert Storm was in progress the youngsters of the foreign students made sure they ran around the neighborhood yelling "Death to all Yankees". My responses to all that were to buy a Desert Storm tee-shirt and to keep away from them. Never saw campus police patrol the area. Well, that is my rant for a while.

Good Morning Merry Sunshine!  Today is a bit foggy around here and a bit cooler than it's been around here

YES!  AMY!  I know what the thank you was for and you're very welcome!

MG, you sure are having trouble with the fireworks kids!  And if you complain, it will probably just get worse!  I'm sorry for that!  I hope those kids grow uo soon!

Christy took Lennie for a walk and I'm about to hit the shower and get dressed for church!  I wish you all a good day!  I'll be back when I can.

Good morning, another day of sunny blue skies, temps are in the low fifties and heading back into the eighties today.

MG, I'm sorry to hear about the fireworks. The police probably look at it as a low priority. Here in years past, they were ignored too.

This summer, the idiots who shot off fireworks on the fourth were few and far between, but it stopped almost immediately as residents were reporting them due to the heavy smoke presence.

It's dumb in the best of times with 24/7 summer daylight, but I guess they like the noise? A friend calls that type, lizard brains.

Amy, the major parts are finished. I have a number of small jobs still to go, more tiding up and donating. The devil is in the details.

We are enjoying a nice cool morning.  It will continue to be cool with rain in the forecast.  Moisture is ALWAYS welcome of course‼️‼️

MARS, we continue to have some "hoodlums" firing off what we think are Cherry bombs here by us.  We have the parking lot of the golf club close and they go in there and race around at all hours of the night doing circle eights and then the cherry bombs.  They are so loud and scare the bejeebers out of me‼️‼️

AMY.... yummmm on the pickles you are making❣️❣️

JANE, enjoy Christy's visit❣️

My goodness PATRICIA, you certainly have been keeping your nose to the grind stone after the inspection.....it sure got you motivated‼️‼️ Our Vail get away was a nice change, but now I am having a hard time wanting to get back to work😩‼️‼️

We interviewed a new cleaning lady yesterday and are looking forward to her starting.  She can not come until mid August but that is OK as we HOPE to have things in much better shape by then.  She is young....speaks English and we really liked what she told us about her cleaning and that she is willing to clean once a month if we choose.

I wish EVERYFRIEND a nice Sunday.

Nice day but a/c on..no rain so watered the garden with the rainbarrel water.

Met the neighbour at the fence to share yellow beans as hers is not ready just yet.
Earlier today bread was put out  for crows, then a bit later out wen t some hot dog pieces for them. Watching the crows from the window I noticed that not all food was ate, they hid some.. in the neighbours trug!! Questions are, should I tell her she will have bread and weiners grow or should I buy hot dog buns instead of the bread for her hot dogs? :2funny:

Jenny 20 more pints are done, now I can move on to beet pickles and more dills......maybe  icicle pickles...will see how the energy goes.

MG we are in an area where tourist have no respect for the locals. I just heard fireworks going off by the lake.

Patricia, I have a number of large jobs to do......someday.

WOW.45° this morning, crows hollering and roosters crowing. I noticed the young roosters are finally getting their crowing fine tuned now.

Busy day here, putting things away ,tiding up, bills to pay and will see if I make a dump run....may leave that one to Fri.

Now I am listening to geese go by....

Better get this day on the go.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Regarding the fireworks, I think these here may have been related to the end of a religious holiday. But kids don't really need holidays to cause mischief or have fun without regard to how the noise affects others.

Amy, I used to make refrigerator bread and butter zucchini and onion pickles, sliced thin. Fresh, crisp and delicious after a short period of time. I also made, a few times, refrigerator mustard pickles. And one time, I tried to make "barrel" pickles in a round glass five gallon container. It didn't work. That container did, however, help me make "Ripple" a couple of times after I made wine with my Concord grapes.  Of course, the Ripple had to be refrigerated and drunk right away, but then my wine never lasted long enough to bottle and age, either  :drink:

MG, first I have to say thank you for the giggle.....no idea of what Ripple is other than butterscotch ripple ice cream .

I have refriderator pickles  , use 3 english cukes along with onions and then put the brine/liquid on them. Should I do them again it will be half the recipe.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe July 1 , 2024

Amy, Ripple is a diluted form of wine, not suitable for bottling. It must be drunk fresh because there is not enough alcoholic content to bottle. You make ripple with the must that is left over from after making the first batch of wine. It may be called by other names elsewhere.

It sounds like you are all doing well, having fun, and making things work for you!  Keep on keeping on!  I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way!

P.S.  Our weather has been much more bearable this week!

Good late morning, it's 10:17, and I'm just now checking in.

Our low was 66, and We've got three days of eighties and nineties before the rains return. This has been the oddest summer so far.

I'm down to my two walk in closets, one kitchen cupboard and three produce crates filled with paperwork from years past, still waiting to be filed or tossed.

MG, I remember Ripple and its effects. It's been a while since I've heard about it again.

Now I want to make some pickles. They sound just right in this heat.

Jane, are Lenny and Cooper liking each other more or sill not so much? You must be in seventh heaven with all the family close this summer.

Amy, you sound busy as usual, I would love a walk through your pantry. I used to do more of that back when it wasn't just me. I've had to learn to scale meals down and buy less. I no longer meal plan as I use to and only sketch out basic plans for specific nutrients per meal. I still tend to make a large amount, cooking once and freezing twice or more.

A lot of my ex-farming friends are facing their first summer without tending to crops and gardens and find themselves missing it. They're finding it challenging to find a purpose in a seemingly idle life.

I hope everybody is having a great day and good weather.

Hello Everyfriend!  I've been busy with doggies and with family!  The doggies get along.  At firs Cooper didn't like having a new one around but he's cooled and accepted that Lennie will be around for a while off and on!  Frankie says I'm not third anymore.  Because Lennie always shows up with Christy, she's dropped into third place and I'm now in second place with Cooper!

PATRICIA, you are absolutely right about my being in "Seventh Heaven" with my family around!  I love every minute of it!

And now I'm heading for the haystack so I can enjoy every minute tomorrow before Christy leaves to go home to Maryland!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good day tomorrow.  Don't forget to stop by and share it with us!  We miss you when you don't show up!

I hope you are all having a great day!  Enjoy every minute of it and don't forget to tell us how you did that!

Good morning, another blued sky, cloudless day expected to reach the early nineties. I finally got that junk cupboard above the refrigerator cleaned out, which necessitated another trip to donations.

My office and living room are now decluttered. I'm well on the way to having everything cleaned out, baring some files and the two walk-in closets.

Jane, you are having a great time with your family, and Amy, I hope your appointment went well.

It is ten AM here, which means you're well into the afternoon there, while I'm just getting started

Rick, if you live in central New York, like my friend, you will see some thundershowers until the weekend, which will return to warmer and dry weather.

Tomorrow will be a busy day.  I have lots of laundry to do and lots of food in the fridge to pack into meal size portions.  There's also some that will need to be cooked and then frozen!  And Cooper will be here a bit before 7!

Good Morning!  We have the rain!  I'm not sure when it started and I don't (officially) know when it will stop! But it really wet out there and lots of big puddles.  Cooper and I took our walk in the rain.  It was kind of like a Heavy sprinkle.  Not hard but coming down steady!

I'm doing more laundry today.  I have a load in the dryer and another in the washer and a few lying on the floor waiting their turn!

AMY, I'm in the market for string beans.  If you have leftovers, chase them this way!  Don't I wish!  I'm going to the Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, I hope!  I need to get that job done!

Guess I better get back to work!  Time flies when you sit around!  Make it a good day Everyfriend, and don't forget to pop in her and share it with us.  We miss you when you stay away!

Jane, I planted two trugs of yellow beans as my friend that just passed loved them. Now I have lots, gave some to the neighbours and lots of flowers yet on the plants. You would end up with more beans and some zuchinnis too!!

Good late morning at half past ten. It was 70 for a low today, but we have 90 or so for a later high. The rain returns on Thursday, but not persistently.

I'm always surprised when I hear people talk about August being hot and or muggy. Locally, August is a cool down period leading into fall. However, the weather these past few years has been so erratic that you can no longer assume.

I have been hard at word decluttering and have only two walk-in closets left. So far, I've been good at cleaning as I go, maintaining the new look. I'm hoping, with so much removed, that I can keep the wide open spaces rather than a "certain lived in look."

Amy and Jane, I hope you're having a great day, and Amy, you have some great neighbors!

I'll be heading for the haystack soon!  Right now we're having a thunderstorm.  It's coming down hard and fast and it's blowing.  But it's only suppposed to last about a half hour.  Then it will start up again sometime diring the night!  I turned off my grass cutter for tomorrow.  Maybe I should have let him come.  With all the water, the grass might be higher that the fence!

I got a lot done today and I'm tired.  I dont think it will take me long to get to sleep and I don't have Cooper tomorrow so no alarm to set!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a great day tomorrow.  I hope we see lots of you in here tomorrow!

AMY, how nice your friends came over and saved you some hard work!  That was very thoughtful of them!

My spending spree has borne fruit. I now have a handheld vacuum to clean up the car interior among other duties. Also, the new TV console is here, ready to put together. I am probably going to have more trouble dismantling the old one to throw out. To come is the sofa console. It should be easy to put together. Yippie, more bookshelf/storage space. The thin shelf I bought to act as a headboard has yet to arrive, but that is okay because I am not ordering the new bedframe and mattress just yet, much as I would like to. I need to save a little money for the rest of my implant work. Next up with that is getting the implant in (scheduled for September), then another two months until I will but on the crown.

Shan got a new pack of "kick" toys. He has been busy trying to tear it apart. Still to come is the new scratch post to put in the front room. For me, there are three print books on order.

Yesterday was exceedingly humid and cloudy, but no rain. Instead, the apartment people came around and powerwashed the siding. Today will also be cloudy and mostly cloudy, no rain to speak of. Temps are starting to inch up again.

Good morning..

Another busty day here, temp is at 55° and cloudy with more rain promised.
The two  downpours yesterday overfilled the rain barrel. Off to the city  to get the van undercoated then on way home stop at Dr . Poff goes the day!

Patricia and Jane, both of us were so surprised at what our friends did, thankful too! Over time Kyle has given them stools and a dog feeder but we never expected this or anything for that matter. The greatest gift we get when we go into her store is a hug ,one when we go in and one when we leave.

MG, you also have been busy! Canyou set your old console out on the curb and maybe someone will pick it up?

Gosh better move..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Amy, since I am in an apartment complex now, they frown on such things. But it is a little surprising what gets stuffed into the garbage bin. When something is still useful, but you no longer want or need it, like plastic crates, small chairs and other small items, we can leave them out by the bin, preferably in the afternoon after the maintenance guy does a sweep and picks up what is sitting outside the bin. It is too heavy without knocking it down. The smaller bits can go in the bin. I would keep one or two of the shelf lengths to make yet another bookshelf, but I think I am out of wall space. It is amazing what you can do with a few sturdy crates or big jardinière pots, etc. as a base and a couple of wide boards.

Well, all the component parts are accounted for, so after lunch I will be putting the TV console together.

Good late morning, 70 degrees and blue skies after last night's thunderstorm. We're expecting another high of ninety again while the southeast is plagued with rain and washouts.

I got several things accomplished this morning. And I have some items to do downtown today that I put off while working in my apartment. I have two items for donation downstairs and then some time to catch up online before heading out.

MG, you've also been busy. It's nice to be able to check things off your list, especially those long-term list items. I'd love to move to a house, preferably or to another apartment, but that isn't happening. Even efficiencies are over a thousand plus utilities.

They slashed the staff here during Covid in 2020 and never replaced them, so items that need fixing often go on a longer list or seemingly left. You can't call the office, you call an automated line from another city and leave your message.

Jane, I have washing on my list for tomorrow. A few months back, when replacing my towels, I ordered twice as many, so I always have clean ones. But, there is always that point when you simply have to pile up and trudge down that hall and go early enough to beat the rush.

Amy, you have some nice friends! And another busy day!

Hello to all who look in, I hope your day and your weather goes well.

Wasn't finished shopping yesterday, apparently. I now have added a set of pizza pans with holes for the frozen pizzas and a cookie/baking sheet with rack.

Yesterday, I started (barely) to put my new TV console together. It would have been done by now, but...
One of the legs is defective. The screw hole for the foot is warped such that I can't get the bottom piece screwed in more than 4mm. Then, when I decided to put one of the shelves together, I discovered the weirdest screws I ever saw. The tops are round and the hole goes down to a point. My regular flat and star ended screwdriver heads won't work. While I am waiting to see if the manufacturer/seller can send a replacement leg, I plan on taking a screw to the hardware store to see if if I can find a screwdriver or screws with regular heads to fit. I do not want to try to send this thing back. This is the first time, ever, I have had a problem with put-together furniture. The sofa table/bookshelf will be here on Saturday. I really wanted the TV stand to be put together and out of the way before it comes. Guess that is not going to happen.

I hope that with the next few supposed to be sunny days, the humidity is down some. Going up to 84o

I would dearly love to coast today but they are pending things that need to be done.

Good Morning Everyfriend!!!  I was up early and had my breakfast and got dressed in time to meet Cooper's arrival at 6:49 a.m.  We've had our first walk of the day and he's working around his breakfast.  He's not gulping it down like he usually does.  Today is an unplanned day!  What happens, happens.  I hope it's all good for all of us!

Good morning, we're at 66, our low for the day and the first time in years I opened both the slider and the bedroom window first thing. I spent yesterday's afternoon getting many mundane errands out of the way, unfortunately in the early nineties.

Each time I had to walk any distance, I made sure to bring a cold iced drink along. There is no measurable humidity, so you alternately bake or roasted. We're only expecting 71, a cool down and rain overnight, then remaining in the sixties, the remainder of the month with overnight drizzles.

The past years were spent cultivating that lived in look. It was clean but cluttered. While decluttering, I promised myself never again, as I did in 2013 and once more in 2016.

The McDonald's fire is still zero contained, and the burn size is at 152,227 acres. Since it's now burning in an uninhabited direction, they've withdrawn some of the fire crews. The overnight rains and cooler temperatures will help further.

One of my hobbies is watching real estate videos around the world, but one astounding group is the Las Vegas realtors. Watching them downplay, reaching 120 on July 7th and hovering at 115 since then as no big deal and recalling that yesterday while I trudged along in my own 93 degree bubble, I have to wonder how that goes over when attempting to attract more buyers.

Hello to anyone who peeks in!

PATRICIA, you make me see things around my house that truly need doing.  And all the things you are finishing uo are embarassing me.  I know I won't get done and my kids will be stuck with the job ehen I'm gone.  But you do make me feel like I should try!  And maybe one of these days, I will!

I have everything ready and measured to make a quadruple batch of mustard and can it.  AMY, I figured out a while back, that if I can it, I can make more and it will keep.  And the canning works.  I waterbath it for 10 to 12 minutes and it does keep!

I'm going to hit the hay early because Frankie said they might want her to come in an hour early tomorrow.  That means I'll have to be ready to meet Cooper a bit before 6 tomorrow.

So have a good night Everyfriend!  Wake up to a good day wherever you are!

Nice day here today. Hope tomorrow is the same.

Good morning..

Starting at 52° but heading to the 80's° with no rain until Wed.

Working around home getting caught up on jobs that should have been done yesterday plus todays work.

Jane, what a great idea to can the mustard!! I have always just put the extra jars into the fridge, this will spare up some room in it.I asked the young lad at  Krown Rust if he liked HOT mustard and his eyes lit up.. I told him next time we are in the city I would bring him some, he then asked if I like venison  or fish!

Rick I think we could all use Patricia's tenacity at down sizing ,de-cluttering. Being a quilter I know I am not going to get through all my fabric stash and need to do something about it!

Patricia, I bet the cooler air felt good!  We are now in for some smoke from the fires from out west now. :(

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Frankie was not having a good day at work so they sent her home.  She came by and picked up Cooper so the rest of the day is my own

AMY, I quadrupled the mustard recipe and put it in half pint jars.  I got 8 for the canner and ended up with on more to use now.  I've given some of this away to different friends and they all bring back the empty jars hoping to get another full one in it's place.  They love it!  Christy took my last jar of the old recipe home with her when she was here.  This morning, Frankie said, "Wh do you make your own hot mustard? They sell it in the stores."  I informed her that the stors isn't nearly as good!

Now I'm going to take the day off!  I'm sure something will come up but I'm not planning anything!  I wish you all a good one.  Make it your own in every way.  And come on back and tell us about it!

Better get back at it...

Good morning, the clouds and rains have returned, Today will range only between 50 and 59, with rain through the third. Typical August cooldown into fall.

I've finished!! However, I'm still looking for something to do, it's always a letdown when you finish a big project, or at least for me. You're still revved up, but with nowhere to put that energy.

Jane, you and Amy have houses, whereas my apartment is only 850 square feet with not as many places to stash. Plus, I've done this before a few times and always believed never again.

Amy, that cooler air does feel better. When I was out roaming, doing errands the other day, I was exhausted when I finally finished and made it home. Besides the roasting heat, I was reminded of how used I was to doing everything digitally. Before computers became so prevalent, that was a regular occurrence.

Today I'm on package duty. One friend has a delivery and another has a food box delivery.

I received an early birthday card from a longtime friend who, in the nineties, moved back to Minnesota. This year, she questioned whether I was still in to several things I had once been so passionate about. And brought up people I had to rack my brains about. I was reminded of how much we changed and how what was once so important, no longer was.

Day is done!  I watered the plants and put everything away that needed to be put away!  Now I'll be heading off to bed early because Cooper will be here a bit before 6 a.m. tomorrow!

PATRICIA, youre right, I do have a house but it's about half as big as the one where I raised my family and I don't have a basement or an attic!  I do have a "JUNK ROOM".  One of the bedrooms took over that job.  I have shelves in there to store my jars, empty and full and shelves for storing stuff that I don't use regularly but that I do need sometimes.  Unfortunately, it has also collected some JUNK and STUFF that I don't know what to do with.  I do have a plan to start cleaning it out but who knows when?

Now I'm ready for the haystack!.  A few things to do yet and then I'm throwing in the towel!  Good Night Everyfriend!  Sleep well and wake happy and ready to go!

Good morning..
Back into the frying weather ,must admit I enjoyed the cooler weather. A day of rest here, may see if I can deliver a quilt either today or tomorrow.  Grass was cut yesterday and the trimming also done!  So I hope to go play in the sewing room today.  The vet asked if she could keep the sling I made fro Babe to give to someone else  and I agreed and said I had two more at home. Will make up a few more to take with these now washed ones.

Jane, I am going to let Bri know about canning the mustard as they go through it faster than us. Hope Cooper feels better soon, maybe he ate something that didn't agree with him?

Patricia, I remember doing hay in the hot weather, this hot weather is nothing new. You also got the heat off the tractor while cutting ,raking  and baling the hay!

Better get the day started..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning EVERYFRIEND 💐

Catching up on all the goings on this morning.  Many of you are so motivated and busy.  Then there is me‼️😩 We continue to spend time going through things in our basement.  Yesterday I did not accomplish a whole lot as Bob brought me a metal file box half full of my grandmas paperwork containing the most interesting things.  A couple of hours later 😆😆😆  My Kansas great grandfather had purchased stock in two different airlines....purchased land in Missouri, etc.  The deed to the land was folded and in a leather ladies size wallet.  There were 30 plus pages.  I did not, btw read all of it‼️😆  One of the most interesting things to read were cemetery plot purchases.  I discovered that it cost $150. to fly my grandmothers remains from AZ to Colorado and the newspaper obituary was $133. This was in 1983.

The next thing I went through is a briefcase thing FULL of sheet music of my mother's.  My mom was a singer and passed up a scholarship to Lamont School of Music here in Denver to marry my dad when he returned home from the war. She did however continue to sing her entire life.  In high school she was part of a famously known SINGING CHRISTMAS TREE at her high school and the tradition continues today. I wish there were some place that could take this sheet music and use it🤷🤷

Enough of my goings on.  I have no delicious mustard or a quilt to show for my time‼️‼️😤

Today my son and two grandsons fly to Utah where his oldest son will attend his orientation for college at the U of Utah Monday and Tuesday.  Our granddaughter is in FL with a friend's family vacationing on the beach near where my husband grew up on the panhandle of the Gulf Coast.

Monday the dil and oldest grandson will be here from Boston to join the son and grand that have been here awhile.  We hope to get together for lunch after the oldest grand and family visit Denver University as he is a senior and DU is one of his colleges he is interested in attending.

I wish you ALL a good Sunday as well as a wonderful week.

Good morning. We're back to cooler weather and steady rain, with lows in the early fifties. We won't return to sunshine and the seventies until August fourth, so I hope this helps with the fires southeast.

Jane, I do hope Cooper is feeling better, if not now, soon.

Jenny, so nice to see you and your family is always busy it seems with lots going on. I miss those days when everyone lived close and there were continual activities and visits back and forth.

Even my local group has shrunk and the activities no longer doable.

My Idahoan sister has a number of cross-country trips, one to Boston and back with friends, and another westward. She's fully embracing her retirement.

I do remember that type of hot weather, Amy. As a child, I can remember highs of 103 and 104. We spent most of the time at our cabin up the Salcha river, with dad joining us on weekends.

There was lots of swimming, splashing and fishing going on back then and less work. It was forty miles by road to the bridge and another 60 miles by jet boat to our cabin. Now I understand there's a road going by it. It's no longer the escape it was.

There's a let-down after finishing a project. After I vacuum, the only remaining issue is laundry, and then it's back to the mundane.

Well, Cooper was her this afternoon.  He brought Frankie with him and she made a quick trip to the store to buy some hamburgre.  My daughter told her that when doggies have an eating disorder they'll sometimes eat a mixture of hamburger and rice.  So she got some of that and we tried it and he did eat it!  And he went for a walk with me!  So she was going to give him a little more of the mixture tonight and see how that goes.  It looked like he liked the taste and it's the first thng that he's really eaten in 3 days.  so I guess we'll see!  He'll be here tomorrow!

I got a lot done today but it was all stuff you can't see.  I suppose you could have seen some of it if I hadn't done it.

PATRICIA, I'm so envious of you for getting all that work done and all the spaces cleaned out!  I sure wish I had that kind of energy!  I do want to get started on the closets pretty soon but they're not yelling too loud yet!

Tomorrow is another day!  I wish you all a good night and a goo tomorrow!  Make the day your own in every way.

So am I watching whenever I have time!  I have them on most of the time!

I was planning to make a batch of "Jim's Egg Thingys" tomorrow but I just finished going through the freezers and can't find any frozen hash browns or any tater tots.  I'm thinking I might try to make them with regular potatoes that I grind up in one of my kitchen tools.  I'll think about that over night and decide in the morning!  I need something quick for my breakfasts.  Maybe I'll check for a recipe on line and maybe I'll just improvise.

I think Cooper is getting better!  He ate food and kept it down today.  I fed him small meals and I watched him eat and he ate in his usual manner.  Maybe he had some kind of upset and when we changed the food, it helped.  He does seem better tonight!

Gotta go.  Stuff to do before I can hit the haystack and I'm ready for that now.  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy day tomorrow.  Don't forget to come by and share it with us!  We miss you when you don't stop in!

My Goodness, yes Callie.  I have been glued to the set for hours, every day.  I am an Olympics freak.  The four years cannot come soon enough.  I even do the same with Winter Olympics.  I watch swimming, diving, beach volleyball, regular volleyball, men's or women's, of course Gymnastics.
I love equestrian, but they just don't show enough of it. I thought it was neat they were having Surfing, from Fiji.  I wouldn't won't to get "near" one of those waves.  Haven't seen any rowing yet, but I like that too.  See, I'm just addicted to Olympic sports too.  And a couple weeks from now the NFL football season will begin.

Time to say, "Good Night Everfriend"  I hope you all had a good day.  I got a lot done.  No Cooper but lots of house stuff done.  I made a delicious breakfast casserole.  I had some potatoes that needed to be used up before they took off for the spoiling stage so I chopped them and baked them then added eggs, bacon a little milk some cheese and (what else?)  Anyway, it turned out pretty good and I have breakfast (or brunch) for several days!

Did a lot of kitchen cleaning and made a pretty good supper, too!

I'm going to up and attem tomorrow morning.  Cooper will be here, fed and walked and then DIL Sarah is picking me up to go to the Farmers Market!  I love that place.  They have everything that is in growing season and I love the fresh veggies.  I'm especially in the market for string beans to can.  See, AMY, I have been happy to hep you get rid of some of yours!

I think I better get going and get as ready as I can for early eising.  I probably won't be in tomorrow until we get back from the Farmers Market.  So I wish you all a good start.  Make the day your best!

Morning everyone!

The very muggy/humid weather and high barometric pressure are doing a number on my osteoarthritis since yesterday morning. Kind of puts a damper on moving furniture around. I am waiting on a replacement part for the new TV console I got and need to put together. And now, the sofa table is here and will need put together too.

My new pizza pans and cookie sheet are here. Now I can test out the oven. Next up is to get two new sauce pans. I have glass, but it isn't recommended for this stovetop. I am hoping the pans I want are lighter and easier to handle than the glass. While the stove at the house looked a lot like this one, this one is larger and the controls are slightly different.

My sister's neighbor's dog and an encounter with a skunk which has been spotted in both yards. The pest control people are gong to set out a trap for the thing around Sue's garden beds because they noted that it had been digging in her mulch. I hope they are not on the PA kill list like groundhogs are. They are such beautiful animals.

Good Morning, Everyfiend (for about 15 minutes, yet)

I went to the Farmers Market with my DIL, Sarah and I got a half bushel of Green string beans for nothing.  She informed me that my son told her whatever I picked up he would pay for!  So I have the beans and some fresh potatoes!  Nice, huh!  I sure wasn't expecting that!  And then while I was sitting there cleaning them, Cathy showed up, pulled up a chair and helped me clean the stems off!  This seems to be MY day today!

And the it was suggested tha feeding Cooper some fresh pumpkin might make him GO.  So I got a pack out of the freezer and fed him with some pumpkin in it.  We shall see!

I hope all of you enjoy your day as much as I'm enjoying mine!  Go for it!

Oh yes!,  I almost forgot!  The guy came to mow my grass just about the time we finished the beans!  Now I'm taking Cooper for a walk, searching for a ham in the freezer and canning beans!

And that reminds me,  Cooper is recuperating.  He actualldid a job today for the first time in about 5 days!  Sorry but I had to say that!  We're all cheering!

Now I'm off!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day a great one!

Good Evening,

Wi-fi kept going out on computer so this is the first time I've had to reply to those watching the Olympics. I've binge-watched swimming and gymnastics - and some diving.  Will probably watch other things but don't have a schedule of what goes on when.

Jane, I used to freeze packages of fresh green beans for the family; steamed them in microwave before packaging them. However, I have a much smaller freezer now and just get enough to make several meals for only me. They're best here in June and I didn't think to order any or ask my Shopper to get them this year.  Wish I had some to fix with ham.

Marsgal, I once heard noise at night on my patio.  Turned on the light and two young raccoons looked up at me like "Yes? You wanted something?"  :) A neighbor recently told me she walked out on her patio early one morning and there was a skunk asleep in a corner. I think she quietly closed the door!  ;)

Denver, #2 son/wife flew to Denver last Thursday for the Kenny Chesny concert. They went to some pizza place in Idaho Springs for lunch on Friday. He sent me a picture of the bump-to-bumper traffic headed west (they were headed east) and said it was like that from Idaho Springs to "where the buffalo used to be".  He said that was usual for 3:00 p.m. on Fridays - people heading for the weekend in the mountains.  I wondered what the tunnel was like!!

Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.
