Could that be heat generated by the sun shining on the building? Whereas the Weather Bureau might be reading the temp. in an isolated area.

I don't know. I'm on the back side of the building, facing northwest. The other two in my building face east with direct sun. Vivian lives two floors up than these across town and faces south. Ruthie lives on the highest floor of her building, and faces north.

The ones facing north or south are closest to the higher elevations, foothills. While the rest of us are facing the forested and river crossed, plain.

The weather bureau reports from three local places for a composite.

I do know that there is quite a variation in the city, the further north you go, and not always warmer.

 Does this help?

Happy 4th of July...

No storm or rain lst night.but cooler temps  great for sleeping. Windows open nice breeze blowing and wake up to 49° this morning.

Good morning and Happy Independence Day!

Its overcast, 54°F and we didn't get any rain either. Might yet today.

Patricia, I was going to look up some articles on thermal conductivity of mass for you but got distracted banging my head against the computer on the photo thing.😬 If you want me to run them down, let me know?

Have a lovely day everyone!

Good morning, 55 degrees at 5:42 and it's very smokey outside. Today's reported high will be 87. The two pigeons are back, canoodling on my balcony rail and entertaining Farrah.

Coffee's on, morning routine accomplished, and I'm in the midst of meet and greets. Today was an early morning for me, I woke at two am and finally got up at four when I knew I wasn't going to be able to sleep anymore. I'm hoping that I'll be tired tonight and will be able to sleep through all the competing microphones from the various ball games, street musicians, boat race and golf finals.

The parade route, if I want to watch, loops right around the closest corner of my building and as usual, the building is holding a giant potluck so if you wanted to, you could munch on hamburgers or chicken while watching the floats and marching bands.

The howitzers have been cancelled again this year due to fires. They are normally set at Alaskaland's Pioneer Park, by army soldiers to boom out, across the river, at the end of speeches and patriotic songs. Unfortunately, the last three years have had too many fires to chance it.

Amy, thank you, I did have a good gossip and a good time. This beginning of the month, lunch and shopping is becoming a regular friends' happening.

OLM, thanks, that does sound interesting. All the buildings are stucco, concrete or something similar. Not a lot of glass due to the harsh winters. They mainly only have a couple windows plus sliders. This one has a lot of surface area as it takes up the entire block.

Checking back in after another round of mowing,

Phyllis, thank you, 🙂 I don't eat hot dogs, but I'm a firecracker enough to make up for it! 🤪

Patricia, you're welcome. Though I'm unsure if you want me to dig up a paper or you, being a great researcher yourself, are on it?

Jane, glad to hear from you that all is well. Impressed by your versatility in keeping in touch while your computer is acting up.😀

If you wanted to, or at least point me in the right direction.

Here you go Patricia,🙂
https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-3-031-76557-5_17,
I hope this works for you, or points you in the right direction.

On another note: My husband informed me that 2 of my Gkids went blueberry picking with their mama this week. The Gkids hatched up a scheme to pick blueberries and sell them to Poppa. Ari, 7, quit after she'd only picked 3 quart sized bags. Toby, 9, born with entrepreneurial OS pre-installed, picked 7 quart sized bags. Mommy felt each child should be paid the same amount. Poppa said, "Oh no! Toby put in more effort and should be rewarded for it." Ari typically doesn't make much effort. He's hoping to motivate her for future endeavors. They settled on the price of $4.00/quart bag. He was on his way to get $1.00 bills to pay them with. Expect torrential rain with whoops and hollering!🤣😆🤣

HAPPY INDEPENCE DAY!

OLM, Ellen and I did some errands and thenbrought home lunch from Chicken Salad Chick, a casual restaurant that isn't in NYC. We have lunch from it every time she's home (about twice a year). https://www.chickensaladchick.com/menu/247408   (I know the website says "Midland, Texas" but I can't get it to show OKC without placing an order; it's the same menu)

Her family all live about a 40-minute drive from me and my younger son/wife/2 Labs live across town from me.  We're all very close. My daughters-in-law are actually from the same town and the older one introduced the younger one to my son.

I only have the three grandchildren and I've been a part of their lives since they were born.  When they were all in school, I would go out in the summer and pick one up, bring her/him back to my house and find something special to do just with her/him.  Then I would take her/him back and pick up another one and repeat the third one the next day.

Callie,
:smitten: That is so wonderful! When I'm back on the farm we do something similar during Christmas break. I also do winter sick care. My eldest grandson is the one I've been blessed to spend the most time with. When he was a newborn and my daughter went back to work I'd do daycare, even when I had to evacuate in my RV. Back then they didn't use as much chemical in the winter and I didn't have to go very far. I could stay in local RV parks. One of the things he's always loved is my homemade eggnog. Still does. My middle Gkid  likes it, my youngest, nah. 😆 And thats o.k. When they come they get to pick the menu and we make it together.

Sounds like you're a pretty special grandma.😊
