I don't think that combat has ever been written about truthfully; it has always been described in terms of bravery and cowardice. I won't even accept these words as terms of human reference any more. And anyway, hell, they don't even apply to what, in actual fact, modern warfare has become.

    Don't Look Back

As you travel through life, there are always those times
When decisions just have to be made;
When the choices are hard and solutions seem scarce,
And the rain seems to soak your parade.

There are some situations where all you can do
Is to simply let go and move on,
Gather courage together and choose a direction
That carries you toward a new dawn.

So pack up your troubles and take a step forward-
The process of change can be tough,
But think about all the excitement ahead,
If you can be stalwart enough.

There could be adventures you never imagined
Just waiting around the next bend -
And wishes and dreams just about to come true
In ways you can't yet comprehend.

Perhaps you'll find friendships that spring from new interests
As you challenge your status quo,
And you learn there are so many options in life
And so many ways you can grow.

Perhaps you'll go places you never expected
And see things you've never seen -
Or travel to fabulous far-away worlds
And wonderful spots in between.

Perhaps you'll find warmth and affection and caring -
A "somebody special" who's there
To help you stay centered and listen with interest
To stories and feelings you share.

Perhaps you'll find comfort in knowing your friends
Are supportive of all that you do -
And believe that whatever decisions you make,
They'll be the right choices for you.

So keep putting one foot in front of the other,
And taking your life day by day.
There's a brighter tomorrow that's just down the road,
Don't look back, you're not going that way.

The Cantaloupe

One cantaloupe is ripe and lush,
Another's green, another's mush.
I'd buy a lot more cantaloupe
If I possessed a fluoroscope.

I thought Sadie Hawkins Day was in November.  that when we used to have our SHD Dance at school?

I CHANGED THE BANDAGE ON MY FINGER TODAY AND I THINK IT LOOKS BETTER...NOT GOOD YET BUT BETTER.  Sorry about the caps. I didn't notice that.

Sleep well and wake refreshed!  And come back tomorrow !

I printed this last thing before Bubble put in the new month  i guess no one saw it  or maybe....whatever

Good morning from an Interior at minus twenty-five and seven fifty-eight am. Sunday is said to put us back in the pluses.

Bubble, nice opening as usual, I enjoyed the encouragement from Amy Rees Anderson's poem. She has had some good ones. And Phyllis's work, I especially liked your cat in soft focus.

Nothing new here as usual, all the usual morning's work, meet and greets, and getting Farrah fed and coffee brewed is done, and I'm debating rather to go now for essentials or put it off until Monday's forecasted twenty above. I think I know which day I'll choose.

I have a question for those in the know. There are numerous times when I need to scan something from my phone, especially with food allergen databases.

While I always look at reviews, discarding those obvious company made ones, I just have no idea of what type of scanner to buy and none of the folks I've talked to have any idea on a type and what to look for or to avoid.

So, I guess I'm putting it out here to see if any of you have any ideas?

i cant help you with that either,PATRICIA.   Sorry.

I've had a busy day today, cooking and baking and walking Cooper and playing with him and trying to get things ready for my trip....

Also, Cathy and i made a quick trip to Davy's to get the stuff Cindy wants me to bring to OKLA.  I'm tired right down to my sox.  And tomorrow is the high school musical so the afternoon will be used up.  I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy tomorrow  stop by and share it with us.

You use the app to scan UPCs for any information. Companies now list pertinent info in the UPC.

Your Android device can scan any barcode or QR code by using a free app from the Play Store. Once you've installed the barcode scanning app, your device's camera can be used as a scanner. You can then take different actions depending on the content contained in the barcode.

Clarify for us -
What are you wanting to scan? Picture, UPC Code, QR Code, something else?
What are you wanting to scan it with?

It seems like you have answered your own question.

Are you maybe looking for a "stand alone" Bar Code Reader, or "QR Code" reader?
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe March 1 , 2024
Post by: patricia19 on March 02, 2024, 12:27:20 AM
I am looking for a good, workable reader app for my android phone that scans UPC/QR/Bar codes. Many companies are now including information within the code, expecting folks to have an app.

The cell phone uses its camera function to scan the available barcode using a downloaded app and retrieve the information. Many magazines and agencies, as well as medical and brands, are using UPC/QR/ Barcodes to encapsulate information.

When I look at ones available, often they have bad reviews, and I'm asking for app suggestions for the apps without a bad review. However, everyone I've asked is unfamiliar with the process.

Patricia, I am of no help with that. I will ask others that may have it and let you know what they say.

Jane, good that you are now finger cot free..  I did try that recipe, finally and will post it. I did cut it in half and next time will add a few things to it (veggies)

I hear crows  holloring, better go feed them.

Patricia,  I use QR scanner from Unicomat that I downloaded from the Galaxy store and.I haven't had any problem with it.  There are a bunch of scanner apps in the android store and most of them are free and rated.
Adobe has one and Adode has been around forever.

Thanks, everyone, for your help. Phyllis, the Adobe one, has almost universally bad reviews. I have an AT&T phone and, unfortunately, Samsung products will not work with an AT&T phone. I'll keep looking.

Presently, it is minus 18 degrees and the different temperature and weather computer sites list the temperature anywhere from minus nineteen to minus thirty-seven. I don't understand the change as all local sites use the airport as their guide. I'm guessing that the others simply use somewhere in the vicinity on a map?

AccuWeather has minus 29 and the Natural weather service now says minus 34 up from, minus 37. The main local airport lists minus 18. I plan to purchase another outside balcony thermometer to set up this summer as a replacement.

Morning chores and meet and greets ran long this morning, but everyone and everything is doing well. Some of my friends have scanners they've recommended, but they're all Apple products for iPhones, so not an option. I mainly wanted it for an allergens site that uses it for their information downloads.

Sunday, the temperatures are forecasted to move back into the plus twenties and above, so that will be nice. I'm planning to go with a friend for groceries and other shopping on Monday and my replacement Amazon order along with another company's order are due on Tuesday, so this will be a better week than this last.

Again, thank you everyone for your help re scanning apps.

Raining off and on here, good for the wells that need it.

Patricia, Monday is to bring a temp of 60° here!! Snow will take a beating but I am sure there is more to drop before March is done. Sure hope I am wrong on that but know others (farmers) need it for the fields.

Good late morning from an Interior at minus six. If I hadn't had a couple of calls from my meet and greets, I'd probably still be sleeping! Anyone else ever awakened in the middle of the night and then can't get back to sleep for hours? Then if you sleep in or rather, if I sleep in, it only perpetuates the issue.

Jane, enjoy your Oklahoma trip, you've certainly earned some time off! Is this the area where the granddaughter has her own flower business?

Amy, enjoy your outing for drinks and later sewing. Actually, what I mean to say is to enjoy your mini vacation from all that work you do.

How many have seen the photo of Bubble's grandson and granddaughter in photos? Aviv, is really beginning to show the man he will be and Lynn is already six months old. And there is a picture puzzle there as well. Unfortunately, I've only found four answers so far.

now Im going to finish up here and head for the haystack.  it's been another busy day and i'm ready for some rest!

Starting out at 34° and also heading for the 60's.

We are heading to the city to meet up with Bri , picking  a few things up and heading back home.

Rick ,yesterday I saw Red Winged blackbirds here!! No robins as of yet though.
I would think the sap is soon going to start with this weather, hope they have a better year than last.

Better shake a leg and get my city duds on...

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Merry March Monday!

I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while.  The year didn't start out well; Spirit and Mind (most of the time  ;))  were fine but Body wasn't!  Both sides of my neck from my ears down to my elbows were painful and diagnosis was osteoarthritis and Fibromyalgia.  Both hands were affected, too.

Still not 100% better (except for hands- which are 98% okay) but I can take care of necessities and am finally able to type on the computer.  Home Health care was contacted by doctor last week and I've had the first "evaluation".  Now waiting for physical therapist to contact me about coming for p.t.
Fortunately, my lab reports were all within normal range last week except Sodium, which was Low.  Doctor said "Eat more salt".  (Who gets told that nowadays????)

Oklahoma wildfires burned more than a million acres across western counties of the state but none were close enough to OKC to cause a problem.  Our weather has bounced from below freezing to the 80's - which I'm sure didn't help my Squeaks/Creaks.

I've spent most of the time reading in the recliner - including your posts.

Janie, I'll either message or e-mail you about visiting while you're here.

Have a Wonderful Day, Everyfriend!  :hugs:

we;;. I might not be heading for Okla next week.  GD Courtney was heading there to switch cars with her mother before moving to Indiana to start her post graduate teaching course.  First her car quit in the middle of the street and while it was still in the repair shop, her mother was rear ended at a red light and was rammed into the car ahead of her.  so the car Courtney was going to drive there cant be trusted and the one she was going to trade it for will be in service for at least 3 weeks.  Kind of cancels my plans.  But at least no one was hurt in the accident!

CALLIE, I'm happy to hear you are feeling better but I guess I won't be able to tell you that in person in the near future.  Sorry about that!

Now I'll have to start UNpacking and putting everything I was taking with me back where it belongs.  Maybe we can work it out for later in the year!  I really NEED a visit with my Great Grandkids!

Right now the haystack is calling!  I'll be answering it's call very soon. And tomorrow I get the stitches out of my finger.  we'll see how that works out!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  come by for a visit when you can!

Good morning.

Records  were made yesterday with the temps in many places. Today is another warm one,not as warm as yesterday but goig to the 60's and rain. Rain is welcomed for the wells and land as we didn't get a lot of snow here.

Yesterday went well, met with the kids ,picked up supplies ,got Babes nails done and then headed home. Trip trip tires me out, rather do a days work!  Today we get to stay home but on the road back to the city. Kyle finally has an appointment with a surgeon!! Only took a year to get it but he does have one.so it is xrays first then  to the Dr.

Jane, I am sorry you don't get to go vivit but oh so thankful no one got hurt!!!  She will /may be sore from the hit ,more so today.  Talk with David said he was in NC but heading your way and said to tell you he is going to wave on his way by.

Callie, good to see your post. Not nice when our bodies have a mind of their own! :tickedoff:

Rick, poor Kyle thought I was losing it yesterday when I yelled "Look look look". We don't have any robins yet but in the city I saw not one but two!!! Then we saw a flock of geese heading north!! Could Spring be close by??

Phyllis, good to see your post! I made another batch of your pudding.....something that tops the meal ,not sweet but nice after a meal.

Patricia, how are things your way? The west is getting smothered in snow , any come your way?

Best try and look alive....

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Another surprise this morning. Even though it is raining fairly steady, my friendly robin was at the front porch. It remembered from last year that raisins were available here. If it were  sunny I bet there would be two of them. They know to chirp to let me know where they are - and waiting for the handout.

We have a rainy day here too, but the temp is up in the 40s and 50s f0r the day  Feels like Spring to me!  I'll take it!!

I'm starting to put all my stuff away and will return cathy's suitcases today  oh wekk, tomorrow's another day!

The past two days have put a run on the snow and today will be no different.

Got a lot done yesterday , the new asparaus wrapped in bacon was tasty for supper.
We are off to the city again...first hospital for xrays then find the Dr down in the city.

Jane, did the stitches tickle when they came out? I took mine out and it tickled when I pulled them out.

Patricia, hope your packages finally came through!!

Rick, it is nice when feathered friends remember to come back. I am still waiting on Drop Wing but I have a feeling I won't be seeing him.
Yesterday I could  hear geese on the lake so they are flying back.

Good Morning Everyfriend.  I'm ready and waiting for Cooper's arrival.  The weather will be in the 40s and 50s today and cloudy.  Yesterday I saw 5 robins on our late morning walk and heard lots of chirping birdies!  Do you think Spring might be sneaking up on us?

RICK, thanks for the info on type size.  I'll give it a try.

AMY, it actually kind of hurt when they took out the stitches.she said that was because they were really dry.  I still have a bandage on it and i'm still not supposed to use it.  I wish you a successful trip to the city and a safe trip home.

I wish Everyfriend a good day.  Stop by and share it with us.

Good late morning from an Interior at fifteen degrees with light snow.

I have not slept well the past few nights with a lot on my mind. I'd literally crash around nine pm and then be wide awake again at midnight or one. I wouldn't be able to sleep again until three or four in the morning, and today I don't remember the alarm going off. Luckily, I have my meet and greets to save me from sleeping further and causing an unwelcome new habit.

Jane, I'm with you on stitches, I've never liked them. Enjoy your day with Cooper.

No birds or sins of spring here, as March is normally our snowiest month and April is usually when more signs of spring happen. We used to be snowless with green grass and blooms by Easter, but that hasn't happened for some years.

Amy, I'm sure you and Kyle are back home again with our four-hour time difference and I hope everything went well, and you're happily home once more.

Yes, my errant package did arrive yesterday along with two others and two that came early rather than today. I now have glass containers to replace the older plastic.

I received my new trekking poles and other odds and ends. Now time for re-arranging, discarding, donating and trashing.

Good morning..

Going to be a beautiful day here!! Temp is to climb to almost 50 and we are NOT on the highway. :)   That makes for an awesome day!!

Yesterday went well, in and out before appointment time at one but not so lucky at the other one. Got to chat with others there so time went by quick. Picked up butter that was on sale for home.

This computer is acting up , a trip to my fellow that makes it better is in store.

Not doing a lot today..may sew.

Patricia ,great that you finally received all your items!!

Jane, although we haven't had a bad winter, actually it has been a very easy one, I am more than ready for Spring. Out west they are really getting the snow to the point of shutting down the highways.

Better go while I do have a post to post..will go get my laptop ,has to be better than this!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Amy, I hope your computer settles down and flies right as my dad used to say and Jane, hoping your appointment and any errands go well for you.

We had an uneventful drivto and from the drs office.  And we both had good visits wit her.  She's not just a good dr, she's also a good friend!  when daughter Christy lived in that area she worked in this drs office and thats how we became patients and friends.

I also have completed some jobs around her and the dishwasher is running.  I'll have those to put away later.  And the trash can is out for pickup tomorrow. I'm on a "call-for-pickup" system and tomorrow is my day.

If anyone is peeking in and not talking...HELLO!  And AMY and PATRICIA enjoy the rest of your day

I'm back again, I just read an interesting article about growing tomatoes indoors, which would be nice except this place would be too drafty.

Just a reminder that this Sunday, to put your clocks forward, I just received a note about it.

Glad to hear everyone is back home again.

Good morning

Starting off at 18 ° and heading into the 50's.
Returning an item and picking up a better one this morning after meeting with friends for tea/coffee. Most of our snow is now gone. Kyle called me to come look out the backdoor. I thought I was seeing a crow but on closer look there was raven!! He/she was gathering dog hair that I had left out for the birds for nesting material. While raven was doing this crows were dive bombing his and squawking at him.

Patricia, we are looking forward to springing ahead with the clocks!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who shows up.  Cooper has arrived, had his first walk and his breakfast. I've stripped my bed and the mattress pad is in the washer and the sheets are waiting by the washer for their turn.  This day is on the way and so far it's cloudy out there and only 36 degrees.  it's supposed to get up to 58 degrees later today but will remain cloudy.

Changing the bed and looking after Cooper are my only plans for the day today but plans do change!

AMY, I checked it out and there are wild leeks in the woods around here. The State Parks allow people to use them but they are only allowed to harvest them for their own use.  Funny! I never knew this before!!!

The washer is spinning so I guess I better get ready to put the mattress pad in the dryer and get on with my chores.

I wish you all a good day.  If you peek in here, please share a few words with us. We miss you!!!!

I actually have a cooking comment to make!!!!1  :o

Today, I put some round steak in the slow cooker.  Wanted to add some chopped onion but hate peeling/chopping them.

I've enjoyed PictSweet frozen veggies (particularly the yellow squash and the sweet potatoes for the same reason) and recently discovered PictSweet has chopped onions to add to recipes.  A full package equals 2 medium onions.

I was using my 1 1/2 quart cooker so measured out 1/2 cup and added to skillet after browning meat then added to cooker.  Worked like a charm!

And that's all from this corner.  :)

:cheer:  :cheer:  :cheer: Picked up my computer and all is good!! Can't do anything to the laptop as it has windows 7 on it.He said if I had of brought it in last Oct he could have but now to install windows 10 it costs 200.00 and I am not doing that. He said to use firefox and I can do that without the 200.00 charge

I did get bread made but not Kyles raisin bread, that will be for another day. Took garbage away to the dump before picking up the computer so that is one job off tomorrows list.  :)

Callie, your meal sounds delicious!! I was looking for chopped onions this morning at the store, lots of pearl onions but no chopped, man said they were having a hard time getting them.

Jane, wild leeks are delicious. Many yyears ago in one room school houses boy would eat wild leeks and the teacher would end up sending them home!! That meant a day of playing or fishing for them. :2funny:

When did "Firefox" become an operating system? It is a Search Engine. It has no relation to Windows 10, at least in my limited knowledge.  If somebody has differing information, please let me know, as I am still struggling with Win 7. LOL!  I have a laptop with Windows 8.1, but it got "locked up" somehow when I didn't use it for about 2 yrs. It was in the closet. It has all these updates on it, that I cant seem to Delete, so it's "doorstop" material, I guess.

Yes, Rammel, all the talk about work just makes me as tired as if I had participated!  Hey I did clean the toilets this A.M.  And I am still drinking coffee, but the drowsies are messing with me.  I may have to commit to a nap...is that still "a thing" in today's terminology.

The sun came out late morning,  but a new batch of funny looking clouds has come and gone, and the basic weather is much chillier than previous few days, ( 80 plus).  The pretty pink and white blossoms have fallen from all the trees, and the green stuff is falling (pollen) and messing up all the parked cars and delicate sinuses.  Aaahhchoo!

Y'all be safe, try to have some fun the rest of today, eat something good, even if you have to cook it yourself, read a book, watch something on TV, call a friend just to say hello!  And the BIG test...Post on Seniors & Friends, so we will know you are still occupying space on this beleagured Planet.

Tome, I have no idea! He just said to use firefox.I think Rick could explain it better. I just know that I wasn't  paying  200.00
This is my back up when my pc yoes on the hum. I am just tyankful he fixes the computer fast! If he wasn't  here, we would have to go to the city.

Firefox is a BROWSER. I have FF still working on a Win-XP computer, a Win7 Laptop, and this computer, a Win-10 computer. I like FF, and it updates by itself, does all I need.

I've had Firefox as my main browser for a number of years and try to evade Microsoft as much as possible which isn't easy. I also use DuckDuckGo as a search engine. It's known for privacy and makes it's mission to stop spyware.

I was very surprised and happy to find that the on board browser on this laptop I purchased in January had W10 rather than W11 as with W10, you are still able to delete many programs that you are stuck with on W11.

Made an appointment to get new tires put on the vehicle ,I don't think we will need the snows any longer. (I hope! )

Jane, Cathy's b/day is 5 days ahead of David's!

Patricia, did you get a lot of snow? Down east they are getting a good snack of it!!!

AMY, Happy Birthday to David.  I'll try to remember to text him on Friday!

I have Cooper overnight tonight so we had another walk in the rain and it was coming down pretty hard and still is.  It's not supposed to stop until after midnight!  Along all the streets there are gigantic puddles and water running down the streets and into the culverts!  We didn't stay out very long the last walk and I'm not going again tonight!  If he has to go again it will be in the yard!

More of Spring is the water from the sky but it's supposed to be April Showers"!

I think I better wish you all Good Night.  I might not get back sooooooooooo......

GOOD NIGHT EVERYFRIEND!  Sleep well and wake refreshed!

Good (early) morning!  Cooper is up, he's been out in the yard and had his breakfast.  Right now he's telling me it's time for a walk but due to the time change it's still dark out there!  And I don't go out until I can see what's there

PATRICIA, I'll pass your birthday wishes on to Cathy and I bet this might be the first time she was ever wished a Happy Birthday from Alaska!

The sky is lightening so Cooper and I will be off for a walk  Enjoy your day Everyfriend and do't forget to share it with us!!

PS.  I'll pass your wishes on to Cathy also AMY and those might be her first Canadian wishes!  And Cooper snuggled but he didn't hog the bed.

Morning chores and meet and greets are over with and coffee's made, while the only agenda item remaining is to water my plants this afternoon.

Not sure what is on for today other than work around home. Better do some baking, cookies are shy, containers need refilling.

I made the Swamp soup yesterday and the only thing I would do different is cut back on the orzo...maybe use 1/2 cup instead of 1 and add some carrots peas and turnip . I didn't put the meat in as beans were the protein.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Morning household duties, as Callie would say, are finished and Farrah fed while I sit with my first cup of coffee. Yesterday, I took out the trash, watered my six plants, and deep cleaned the bathroom, so today will be a day of rest.

Guess I'll hit the haystack.  Have a good night Everyfriend, and a good tomorrow!

No wonder I don't want to do all that.....sounds really boring. Oh well, at least I am up.  Take care, All.

well, I didn't feel like doing anything either but I was up early to meet Cooper and he wanted to take a walk.  So as soon as it got light enough to see we went out and walked.  That got me started!  Then I discovered that the meat in the fridge was thawed enough to cook so I put it in a pot and got it cooking to make beef stew.  I just finished  cutting it up, added the potatoes, onions and carrots and set it to simmer for a bit until I decide what else goes in.

Our weather has reached 57 degrees and is heading for a high of 65 today!  HOORAY!!!

I wish you all a good day, better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Take it and make it your own and stop back to share it with us!

Good morning, today it is clear, sunny, windy, and cold at minus five. Winter doesn't seem to want to go anywhere this year.

Yesterday, my sister and I had several emails back and forth as she works on redoing her craft room. She also has two cross-country trips planned for this summer, but then she's ten years younger and only been retired a year or so.

I agree with everyone, I didn't even want to get out of bed this morning but finally did when the phone rang signaling my morning meet and greets. So coffee finished and Farrah fed, I supposed I should look around to see what else I can get into.

I heard Stubbs out in the hall earlier. He is a well, stubby little bulldog, pit bull mix who wriggles enough to leave his skin behind when he sees someone, knowing pets, scratches, and "Good Boys" are coming. I suppose I should find something to do somewhere...I'm so tired of this in between season.

Cooking up rice and chicken for Babe, maybe this will stay on her tummy.

Saw this sigh at the bank.

What do you call a rabbit with fleas??

Patricia, my get up and go has gone.....no sewing done...maybe tomorrow?

Jane, my Mom's recipe for Bachelor Buttons or some call them Jan Jam cookies. Haven't made them for a while.

Phyllis, jobs will always wait.....and pile up. :(  If and that is IF I get at a job first thing tis ok....but many times I will procrastinate. And it is still there when I do feel like doing it.

Rick, did inspiration hit???  Some times it is nice to have a day off.

Amy, Babe and I shared the same lunch, chicken and rice. I made a big batch and used two of my new glass serving/storage dishes for leftovers, one in the freezer and one in the fridge.

They have a groove under the glass lip for a rubber gasket and a snap down lid. There are so many size variations, large to small and square to round, that they're perfect for someone like me. It helps that I picked up something similar, no gaskets, last year in the grocery store, so I knew they would work well and have the larger number of sizes and shapes.

I guess I better go finish up.  We had a gorgeous day today with temps into the high 60s and it's supposed to be pretty much the same tomorrow.  Cathy is taking me shopping and to get a haircut tomorrow.  you all sleep well and wake refreshed and come by for a visit.

Good morning.

A leisure day today.....no appointments ,no not needs to be done but I am sure there will be some things to do!

So far Babe is keeping her food down, but she will be on the rice ,chicken for a few more days before introducing her kibble back into her food.

Patricia, rice and chicken are good together, they can become a nice cassarole with a few other things thrown in.

Jane, David doesn't like the time change either plus he went to Virginia and there was another time change on the way? When we travelled across Canada Kyle could accept the time changes better than I could. I would just get used to one and we would change again.

Rick, I watched Oak Island and they are getting close!!! Since you had a busy day yesterday you might aas well take today off.

Just remembered a job that I do have to do.easy one...make some pastry for buttertarts for a friend  her birthday is on the 17th.

Good morning, minus nine here in the Interior with no real snow accumulation, but we're expecting more freezing ice. Winter is hanging on here with very little signs of Spring other than more light.

Yesterday I spent moving through the different home improvement, recipe, and shopping sites. I've been looking at different flowers and plant sites to see what I want to look at in the local garden stores and sites.

Alaska, is very strict about keeping alien plant, parasite, and animal life out, so it is illegal to buy or import seeds or plants from outside the state. I remember one year, some folks had to get rid of these purple flowering trees because while small, they had an extensive root system that choked out other native trees root systems.

Amy, my chicken and rice had quite a few spices and vegetables thrown in. I still have five cups, four in the freezer for other times. I've never been able to follow a recipe without thinking hmmm...or what if.

Jane, Claire's new friend, has two dogs, one a Scottish wolfhound, Angus and an Irish wolfhound, Reign. Both dogs are large, she says, and very well-trained, stopping and lying down whenever their owner stopped to visit.

For a day with nothing much planned it got filled in a hurry! Being such a nice day I washed and hung out two comforters. Pastry didn't get made, maybe tomorrow..we both didn't sleep well I can can feel I am running on empty but tomorrow is a better day.

My friend left a message to call her as soon as we got in, her cardiologist wants to see her, so on the road on Fri. Do you ever get a feeling about something?? I don't have a good one about her visit wih the Doc, sure hope I am wrong.

Patricia, I will follow...maybe a recipe at first just to see, after that anything is fair game! Love Irish Wolfhounds!!

Rick, glad you took that suggestion....did it take much coaxing? :)

Today was a good day...busy but good.  Cooper was here and I was out for a while.  I got a haircut and groceries.  two major jobs done.

Tomorrow nothing is planned but I should make friends with the sweeper and a dust cloth.  I actually looked at the floor and furniture close enough to see that it could use some attention.  Not my favorite job but a "must do" sometimes. and I think it's going to start hollering for attention soon.

AMY, I pray that your friend's trip to the dr. will not be bad news!  Nobody needs that!

I'm off to the haystack now.  My eyes have entered the clunk shut stage and I'm afraid of running into things.  So I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Come back and say "Hello" to us tomorrow!

Cooper is here and we've had our walk.  There's something on facebook about a bear in this area so I'm keeping my eyes open and I'm not going out in the dark!

Cleaning is on the agenda for today and I'm not in any hurry to get started!  I'll see what happens later!  I know it needs it but......

PHYLLIS, Happy PI Day to you, too.  I actually remember what that is!

I wish you all a good day.  Make it your own in every way!  And come by and tell us about it!

Good morning from a snowy, cloudy Interior at three degrees. Morning chores and morning meet and greets are finished, as is my coffee, so I'll have to find something to tide me over.

I have two orders arriving today, one of mine and one I'm collecting for a neighbor, and that's something to watch for.

I told Stubbs's owner that I mentioned his dog here, and he told Stubbs. He asked him what he thought and Stubbs barked so he was pleased too, and his owner said he was a good boy and gave him a treat.

I lead such an exciting life.

Wondering if anyone here has had problems with sciatic nerve, radiating from hip to thigh (knee too). If so, what do you do for it? What physician? Anything to treat while waiting on physician to call back? I had sudden onset, and could barely walk with the pain.  Trying to get into bed was another experiment entirely.  Did not sleep for the pain, and didn't realize when I took an Arthritis Pain Reliever it had Hundreds of Mg of Caffiene.

Tomereader, - What I know won't help you, BUT - If you are up to it you might check the Cleveland (https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/12792-sciatica) or Mayo Clinic. Both known to have good info. My quick read, and I'm not a good reader, indicated NSAIDs and ice - till you can get to a Doc.
Good luck.

My day is over and I did get some of the cleaning done but my back began to bother me so I had to park the sweeper until tomorrow.

I'm so sorry for your pain, TOMEREADER but I never had that or was close to anyone who did so I can't offer any help!  I hope you find a doctor soon!

I'm heading for the haystack early tonight.  I'm bushed! And I'm worn to a frazzle!  And I'm TIRED right down to the floor!  Cooper and I took two long walks today and we also played out in the yard a while!  It was a beautiful day to be outside with temps in the high 60s and low to mid 70s all day and actually reaching 78 late afternoon!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!  Come by and share your day with us!

Good morning..

Rain last night and it will resume some time today. Off to the city with my friend,I must admit I am worried about this trip.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Did odd jobs yesterday and know today is write off. Work will get done tomorrow..maybe :)

Going to call David and wish him happy birthday  in a bit. I think he should be home some time today.

Patricia, wonder if Stubbs owner would let you take a photo of Stubbs to post in here??

Tome, I haven't had that but friends have and it is painful. The sooner you get to your Dr the better.

Jane, send some of that warm air here please!!

Better get thing in order to go..

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Phoned David, waited till 6 am and he was already on the road...he is this side of the border.....for now.

Good morning from the Interior at minus 2 and snowing. Coffee's finished, meet and greets done and Farrah's fed. Both Packages came in yesterday, although the neighbor was late picking hers up.

Amy, I hope David has a good birthday on the road and a good trip. I have a friend whose grandson is a company trucker, but he mainly hauls wood, coal or mining equipment within the state. Once he broke down, had to wait two hours for the company to get a repair out to him, but he was paid $20.00 an hour to sit there and read his paperback.

Joanne, I agree with Rick. You need to see a doctor re the info he provided.

MG, I'll bet you're thankful that phase is over, now on to the next.

MG, I bet youre happy to have your old house done and I bet you'll be happy when it's sold and done with permanently!

RICK, what have you been up to?

AMY, how is your friend?

I'm in the middle of cooking sliced ham and potatoes for supper.  Haven't decided on a veggie but I'm leaning toward a jar of AMY's canned zucchini!

Rick, taxes are on my agenda for Sunday. I've started them but hadn't had much time to work on them.

Got in another long nap in this afternoon. Brought in another container from the car while I, I mean the microwave, made dinner. Tomorrow I will finish emptying it, and begin picking through some of the boxes for more stuff to take to Community Aid. The books remaining at the house were moved to the porch so the guys can pick them up tomorrow without me having to go back over. They will be going to the library (don't know which one) for their used bookstore.

I also got wind of a neighbor who is renting and lives just a few houses down the street who is interested in the house. That person likes the neighborhood (I did too), is tired of renting and parking on the street, another victim of the tire slasher(s) who made a return visit. That makes 13 that got victimized these past few weeks. My realtor continues to be optimistic that the house will sell in days.

Sue is giving me one of her bookshelves. I am thinking about her all-in-one computer, too. It sure would eliminate some of the wiring the cats are so fond of. I've begun a shopping list which includes a cat sized footstool. Oscar has taken to a box that he fits laying on; it will be emptied and gone, so he needs a replacement. Also on the list is some cat furniture so they can sit up high enough to see out the window here in the computer/cat space room. I an likely to spend some money on new shades or curtains so that the cats can get an unobstructed view. Right now, these blinds only have mechanism to open or close the slats, nothing to raise or lower them.

Tomorrow will be a nice sunny day. I hope to open the patio door for a little while and get some fresh air in here.

Hi there you all!  I've read and absorbed everything.  It's always nice to read what you all are doing in your area and in your days.

I made the sliced ham and baked, cubed, cheesed and flavored potatoes and I did open a jar of canned zucchini for my supper today, tomorrow and a few more days.  Maybe some for the freezer!  It was goooood!

Now I'm heading for the haystack!  I'm ready to sleep and I don't have to set the alarm.  Cooper won't be coming over and I don't have anything planned except more cleaning!  We have a bear in the area so no one is on the street when it's dark!  My auto light was on tonight.  It comes on when someone is in my driveway but there were no cars.  I'm thinking maybe it was HIM!

Good night to all of you.  Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed and come back for a visit tomorrow!  Bring a friend!

Good morning

First off, yesterday was ok...but my friend has to  go back in a couple of weeks to the cardiologist for more tests.

Today work around home ,laundry, should do more baking, vacuum seal what was bought yesterday.

Jane, your supper sounds delicious!!! I would think Mr Bear is out looking for food after a long winters nap.

MG, moving is very tiring and selling a home is very nerve wracking. Hope it soon sells and that is one less worry for you.

Rick,Also getting in some practice on that nap thing. I'm getting good at it.
You know that they say practice makes perfect. I have an idea that I to will try to practice a nap at some point today.  We are now just waiting to hear back from our accountant.

Patricia, David sure see a lot of country on with his work. Meets a lot of nice people too!!.He got to hug my friend when they met!! He did have a nice birthday thank you ,at least he made it home for it.

A trip to the city takes my energy  and I thought it was only me till I mentioned to a (young) lady in the bank and she said it does her also. That made me feel somewhat better but I do remember when one could do that, come home and work some more and not feel the effects of the trip. Must be a age thing???

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who shows up!

BUBBLE Thank You for posting the picture of my Great Grandson, Cam for me.  I can't wait to get there and reach the hugging stage with him!  Most of the pics I get of him, he's laughing.  I want one of those laughs to keep in my pocket!

AMY, I wish your friend good news when she goes back to the dr.  And I want you to know that the "napping" doesn't really take much practice.  It's really easy to learn!  I've been at it for a while now and I'm getting really good at it!  The hard part is waking up and getting busy again!  If you figure out a good trick for that, let me know!

I'm off to get dressed and on my way now.  I'm not sure what I'm on my way to but a walk (without a dog) will be part of it!  I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to let us in on it!

Good morning, it's three degrees and a bit of snow with little to no accumulation. Next Saturday we're told to expect 40 degrees and then a leisurely trip into spring and summer temperatures.

I've finished my meet and greets and morning duties, fed Farrah and had my first coffee. Today I'm expecting two packages, one for a neighbor and a fruit and vegetable order for me. I believe my staying home more often than not has my neighbors interested in my package pick up services. It's a nice quid pro quo.

Amy, I hope all goes well for your friend. I'm not a fan of doctors here. Many are retired military from one of the five nearby local bases and still have the idea that patients should be seen and not heard.

Jane, I'd love to be a napper, but I have enough trouble sleeping at night to try naps during the daytime.

Our bears, brown, grizzly and black, are still taking their seven-month-long winter naps. They'll begin waking up in mid-April. This is usually when people living outside of town begin driving their children to and from the bus stops.

Over the mountains, in the South part of the state, bears generally hibernate for five months. Now bears are champion nappers, even giving birth while napping.

I'm hoping that everyone has a good day today and all plans work out.

EDIT: We have Fishers in Alaska, mainly in the Southeast, but I always thought of them as weasels.

Amy, I had to look up fisher.  We don't have them here, thank goodness.  We have enough critters and it seems as though they like my attic!  We have the long tailed weasel here but they are seldom seen.  They are very secretive and shy of humans.

We have bears, too, Jane.  And they are being sighted closer and closer but, I haven't seen them in my yard yet.  Lots of deer and coyotes and smaller animals.  They are learning to co-habit with humans, aren't they?  I don't mind them as long as they leave me alone and just go on about their business.

Good Morning PATRICIA and Phyllis and anyone else who shows up!

I didn't even stop by the office on my way to bed last night!  I was worn out and the bed was calling my name!  I slept well and woke up 15 minutes ahead of the alarm clock!  I hope that means today will be a good day!  I don't have any real plans for today except to take my daily walk (without Cooper).  Frankie said she might be over later to give him a bath in my tub.  Sometimes she does that and sometimes her day off just takes over!

I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And stop by and share it with us!

Good late morning from an Interior at eleven degrees and raining snow. I doubt there will be any accumulation today. Coffee's in hand, Farrah fed and meet and greets over with. Another late night, it's hard when your mind is racing when your body wants to snooze to feel rested the following day.

Nothing on today's agenda but more decluttering now that my clothes, bathroom, and kitchen organizers are in hand.

When discussing the out come vet said we could do it now, just then Babe looked up at me as if to say no not yet please. I made a sling/lift so I could help this 80lb dog up and we do have ramps in the house to help.

Good morning from an Interior at seventeen degrees and with a projected high of forty. I've done all the morning chores, one or two remain with the computer. And I've done my meets and greets for the day. I'm in the middle of laundry, two loads done, one in the washer and one in the dryer, with a last load for each.

I've wished as usual that I had both a washer and dryer in my apartment and didn't have to fight with everyone else roaming the five floors for an available machine or two. Not only that, but I procrastinate because I'm always hoping to get in and out and never seem to accomplish it.

Amy, enjoy your time with Babe, I'll be seeing my accountant the first part of April and not looking forward to it.

Phyllis, I wish for some of that flowering coloration here, but we're finally out of the last cold spell, so they say, and on to warmer weather.

Our weather is cooler yesterday and today.  In fact, we had some snow flurries both days and during the night.  BLAH!  What happened to SPRING?

Chilly here too. Dropped below 32, but the sun did show up this morning. Saturday is looking like a wash out with four or so inches of rain predicted. Could look at it as a free car wash.

I'm here to wish you all a Good Night!  I got a lot done today....laundry, cleaning, dog walking, cooking, read the paper, made a couple phone calls, hung out on the computer....

Tomorrow, Cooper will be here early and I'll be going out to lunch with my friends from my last office job.  We do it once a month and it keeps us in touch and moving along.  I also started getting my stuff together to pack for my upcoming trip to Okla!  I'm looking forward to being with the Great Grandkids!  I sure wish they lived closer.  Pictures are nice but hugs are better!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a good tomorrow.  Be sure to come by and share it with us!  We miss you when we don't "see" you!

P.S.  It was like winter here today...down in the low 30s!  Yuck!

Good morning..

Starting out at 4°, not impressed with that and snow is also going to pay a visit, really not impressed with that! I put the snowblower away the other day and I am not bringing it back out.

Jane, David came through PA and said in one area he could hardly see the vehicles in front on him for snow..please don't share. Enjoy your day out with your friends.

DG, we always enjoy trying new recipes and I see Patricia has shown you the way to the site.

Callie and Jenny hope all is well your way.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Okay!  Good Morning on a cold and wintry day!  where did Spring go!

AMY!  We didn't have as much snow as David went through!  It didn't lay, just flurried a couple of times!  And I'm sure it wasn't enough to stall traffic.  Just enough to tell us Winter is still hanging around!

Frankie, finally gave in.  She didn't go to work today so I don't have Cooper.  I'll have to get ready and take a walk all by myself!  I hope she benefits by a day of rest and it's not something worse!

I better get my day started!  I wish you all a good one!  Don't forget to share it with us!

We're starting at 25° but bright and sunny. Suspect the snow Jane and Amy had will be the rain that is due here tomorrow.
Have to do a bit of clean up/straighten up of the mess left behind after some plumber work. Nothing that can't be put off till I'm more inspired. Maybe a cup of gas (coffee) will help.
Everyone - Enjoy the day. Remember, Spring IS coming.

Good morning, we're starting off a bit cooler today at a cloudy twenty-one degrees. All the morning needs have been met, and the coffee is finished brewing, so I'm turning my eye to the computer and checking in with the rest of the world.

Amy, March with its more daylight and more humidity is frequently our snowiest month, so I expect at least a bit more snow and less ice. According to AccuWeather, the northeastern part of the continent is due for a cold weekend.

Good morning, Rick and Jane, and a good morning to all those looking in or stopping by later.

Snowing now and it is to carry on during the night. :(

We really can't complain as this has been an easy winter but we do need the moisture in the ground.

Patricia and Rick you both are warmer than what we were!! Poor robins are having slim pickings out there. Saw Larry,Curly and Moe but no Drop Wing.. :( One must be gluten free as he left  the corn and ate the rice chex I threw out.

I am trying to think Spring Rick but snowflakes get in the way. :))

edited to add, just received an email from Madison Maine and their quilt shop will be closed due to a snow storm :))

Time to say Good Night!  it stayed pretty cold most of the day but we did have about 2 hours when it made it into the 40s.  NO SNOW! And no COOPER!

Tomorrow is supposed to be a bit warmer than today but not much!  We shall see!  I got a lot done today but nothing that shows.  I'm starting to lay out things to pack for my trip and I went to a funeral for the young (early 60s) brother of two gals I used to work with.  I think they were happier for his release from pain than sad at the thought of losing him.  It's really hard to see a sibling suffer!

AMY, you can keep the cold and the snow.  I don't want any more of it!

I'm heading for the haystack!  I wish you all a peaceful night sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Come by for a visit with us!

We've made it to 48 degrees at 6:45, and I'm hoping for fifty and that the weekend's cool down goes somewhere else.

I've been all over the west and around the world via YouTube real estate, so now I'll probably think about something to eat.

Good morning..

Starting out at 7°  doesn't look as though it will warm up much....maybe 37° but I am not holding my breath on that. Everyone fed, medicated and the garage apron shovelled off. About 3/4 of an inch of snow fell here, others weren't so lucky May nip up to a craft show for a bit , maybe.

Need to take apart a cooked  turkey and vacuum seal it for the freezer. Bones into the soup pot to be made later....maybe.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I have spaghetti sauce cooking for my supper.  I haven't had this for a while so I'm going to enjoy it!

Glory be.......thanks to you, AMY, I am finally able to get in here and after several attempts I finally can post.

Not sure when I was here last but it has been much too long.

Not a whole lot different around here....still having PT twice a week and doing a once a week balance class.  I did get my hearing aids and that is a whole new ball game.  I am happy with them overall however one was making my ear very sore, so got in and the gal was able to move something a different direction and so far so good.  I've had a terrible sinus issue for a couple of weeks, but finally starting to feel much better😩

We have been grand doggies sitting all week.  They are so much fun but it is a lot of time required to do walks several times a day for Bob and he has been suffering with heel pain.  If it it not 0ne thing it is another these days it seems.  I have not been able to get in at all to see any posts....seemed like I had been blocked or something....but AMY saved me today thank goodness.

I wish you all well and hopefully I can go back and read the posts now to see what you have been up to.

Happy Palm Sunday.

Good morning Amy, evidently you saw me when I thought I was being so quiet! Twenty-five degrees presently with wind that started last night. Everything is dirty looking outside, with the snow sunken and dirty.

My morning routine has been the same for so long that I sleepwalk through it. Wake up, meet and greets, feed Farrah, shower, start the coffee, put away the dishes from the day before and make my bed. The rest of the day is usually like a game of whack a mole.

Last night I made a taco filling, put it over rice and topped it with shaved cheddar cheese. I didn't bother freezing the rest, as I'll have that this evening, it was terrific for a cool windy winter's eve.

I did put the remaining block of cheese in the freezer, so I don't go back for snacks. I do like cheeses, as long as they're sharp or mild. Medium cheese, spreads or Velveeta are definitely not worth my money!

It was so nice to see your post, Jenny, I'm sorry you had sinus issues, that's something I'm also prone too and medications rarely seem to help all that much.

Jane, I'm glad to hear Frankie feels better and that you had some overnight Cooper snuggles. Is this planned Oklahoma trip a replacement for the earlier cancel?

Good morning to all I missed, and I hope everyone's day goes as planned and nothing unexpected happens

Good day from snowy and cold Colorado.  We got a good 5 inches or more and it is snowing again.  The last snow storm we had was a BIG one that broke many branches all over the area.  We lost a huge limb on our back tree and it is still waiting to be removed.

Thank you for the nice welcoming words.  PATRICIA, you are right nothing I take seems to help with the sinus pressure or seems to make it feel much better.  Slowly but surely it is getting better.

We have been in the basement getting rid of stuff.....sure wish we could have an estate sale and get rid of everything.  It would behove me to not even look at these things... just let em walk away‼️‼️

I have several beautiful afghans that are hand made by my mom, grandma and an aunt.  No one in the family has any interest in them. Do you think a care home would take beautiful afghans?  Not the fancier ones.....All are in brand new condition.

AMY, my Bob is a saint for taking good care of me.  I am so blessed. I know you take good care of Kyle also.

My kitty seems to be pretty happy that the doggie house guests have gone home.  The doggies sure were excited to see their dad when he came to pick them up.

Off to pack up the things we are taking to a charity.

I wish you all a good rest of your day.

Jenny, we took several of mom's quilts that she either inherited or made herself to the Pioneer's home, it's a private organization where to belong, you must have lived in the state for thirty or more, documented years.

They are set up in the care home, but there is also a boarding home museum set in Alaskaland that features many older historical gold rush era items.

It was originally set up for older gold and mining prospectors and, similar to other fraternal organizations, they operate care homes, lodges and parks around the state. In Fairbanks, they operate Alaskaland that is set up with an aircraft museum, an antique cars' museum, a fabric and quilt museum, a refurbished mining ore train that runs through the park on an elevated track, and a number of older Fairbanks historical register houses that were moved to the park and various summer businesses operate out of them. I'm sure that Colorado has something similar, as they share a similar backstory.

I'm not Patricia, but have you tried PSEUDOEPHEDRINE HYDROCHLORIDE ?  It's a Nasal Decongestant -available at CVS & Walgreen's type stores. A bit hard to find because you must ask at the Drug Counter. It's restricted now because certain people were making an illegal drug with it. But - It works well.

I'm off to the haystack for the night.  Cooper will be here tomorrow at 6:45 a.m. so I'll be up and about early tomorrow.

I made Shrimp Quiche today and it's really delicious but boy, it sure took a lot of dishes to get it cooked.  Not sure I'll do it again.  I'll have to see how much I miss it after I finish it off!

Also, took the cover off the sofa and washed it and washed the cover of the doggie bed.  Cooper got a professional bath and a hair cut today so I cleaned up for him.  If I know him, he'll be out rolling in the grass in the yard as soon as he can!  Oh well!  That's life for a doggie!

It's supposed to be warmer tomorrow...like this afternoon.  I wore a winter coat to walk early in the morning and no coat in the afternoon.  Spring is back!!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make it your own in every way!  And stop by and share it with the rest of us!

It's been sunny all day but cool. In spite of the cool, Spring seems to be here. Some early flowers popping up. The forsythia bushes in the area are yellow, and buds showing on trees and hedges. Hay fever time is on us. Been doing a bit of sneezing.  A rule of thumb passed on to me by an old timer is that when the forsythia blooms the termites swarm. I've found that to hold true in the past so will be keeping my eyes open.

GOOD MORNING.

SANDY, I have been watching the news about the bridge collapse....What a tragedy.....so sad as it will be a very long time before they will get that crossing rebuilt.

RAMMEL, I bought a few different meds to see if I could get relief, and I appreciate your suggestion. We have always had PSEUDOEPHEDRINE HYDROCHLORIDE AKA Sudafed on hand and that is what I have been using.  Unfortunately, many over the counter drugs have ingredients that can be very dangerous to use if you are on some prescription drugs.  I never thought about it until my doctor son asked me if I had check the ingredients for possible interactions with each other.  Almost all of us would not give a thought to this to be honest.

We have a busy day ahead so guess I best get moving.

I wish you ALL a good day.

Good morning, twenty-five degrees presently, and it looks messy and bleak out there in black and white. Morning chores and duties are finished and coffee's brewed. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of matters, but otherwise nothing's planned. I've yet to look at the news and will do that next.

We don't have termites here, but we have carpenter ants, which I'm told are as destructive. There are many foods that counteract with various medications as well, such grapefruit and certain diabetic meds. Any time I get certain overnight cold meds, I cannot recall the brand, I must show my ID. Evidently, they are also used in making illegal drugs.

This popped up in my emails this morning, and it mentions certain medications such as Osteoporosis, Thyroid meds and others that interact with dairy foods.

It's always a good idea to double-check the advantages and disadvantages of prescribed drugs.

https://tinyurl.com/2yce2d26

"There are several medications that interact badly with calcium-rich dairy foods and supplements. Antibiotics, and medications for HIV, osteoporosis, mental health, anemia, and thyroid problems should never be taken with dairy foods. Combining the two can cause levels of either calcium or your medication to be altered. "

Hello All!  Our temps are supposed to stay up in the 40s overnight and then go into the 50s and 60s during the day tomorrow but we're also supposed to have rain!  Sure does sound like SPRING to me!!1

I'm off to the haystack.  Cooper will be here around 6:45 a.m. tomorrow and I have to be up and attem and ready to meet his needs!  I'm also going to lunch with my former co-workers from PA House Furniture Office!  We try to do it once a month and this is it!  There could be anywhere from 18 down to 12 people.  I love it!

Good morning. It's 28 degrees this morning at 8:22 and while we had fifty for a high yesterday, this evening we're told to expect nine hours of overnight snow.

Morning chores, meet and greets and coffee made, so I'm off to see what happened overnight.

Jane, it sounds as if you're set for a good day, enjoy it even in the rain.

Amy, I'm surprised more of us don't have colds, the way this year's weather can't make up its mind.

Good morning, Rick, and good morning to everyone looking in.

Hi all!

Just finishing up my taxes. This is really late for me. Blame it on the move.

Been keeping an eye on the Dali accident in Baltimore. Haven't heard yet when they hope to clear the channel for shipping. As I heard it this morning the NTSB was to start a close and onboard inspection of Dali sometime today since they switched from Search and Rescue to Recovery mode. Everybody and their brother's agencies are in on this mess. Wonder how well and fast they will get their ducks all in order. So far, it doesn't look like many (if any) ships farther down the channel have made any moves toward unloading at another port. I understand, what with regular shipping contracts to handle, these extra ships may have to wait awhile for okay to move to another port. If the channel can be cleared in a reasonable amount of time they may just sit and wait. Either way they will by having to wait at Baltimore, or at another port (plus extra travel time, etc.

Sue and I met at Lynn's Wok for lunch yesterday. I wonder if they have a new chef. While the food at Lynn's has always been good, the lighter, crispier batter sure stood out. After that, I took another (last, I hope) load of stuff to Community Aid.

I'd love to take a nap about now, but there are hand wash dished to do and a decision to make about what to do for dinner.

I had no trouble doing nothing today...don't like it but it is what it is. Maybe tomorrow will be better.......notice I said maybe :)

Rick, Nope not sharing..but thank you for the smile ...needed that.

Patricia, I have been good for years and now when I have so many commitments now is not the time to have a cold. This one is a doozy.

MG, always nice to get them done. We have ours done and off.
No matter how many times one sees that bridge come down it is still heartbreaking..

Going to go back and do with I do best today.....nothing.

Good Night for last night and Good Morning for today!  Cooper spent the night with me last night and after our last poke around the just before it got dark, we both fell asleep in front of the TV.  And when I woke up, all I wanted to do was hit the haystack.  So I did!

AMY, sorry to hear you haven't been feeling well but glad to hear that you are on the mend...even if the mend is slow!  You sure do have the right to "take it easy" now and then, considering all you do for you and friends!

MG, good for you, getting the taxes done.  I sure do dislike that job!  For a lot of years my son did mine for me.  I happened to mention that I was a big part of seeing him through college to end up with a degree in accounting and I guess he thought it was "payback" time!  Or maybe he just thought I was too dumb to do it myself!

PATRICIA, I hope they were wrong about your snow!  That's an awful lot of snow to have at any time of the year and to have it dump all in one place is pretty bad!

Hi Rick!  Keep on keeping on!

I had a "good morning" text from daughter Cathy and she mentioned that she might be heading for the Amish grocery store sometime today and did I want a personal shopper or would I like to go with her.  I think, if she goes, I'll go.  My list is getting long!

I'm off now to get some chores done.  Cooper has decided that it's time for a nap!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.

Good morning from the Interior at twenty-nine degrees. A little snowfall this morning with little or no accumulation. The overnight storm was trying its best with wind and fury, but the snowfall total was only an inch or two.

I'm sitting here with my first cup of coffee with Farrah fed, chores done and meet and greets finished.

I generally do one or two big chores or trips in the afternoon, while general upkeep is directly after awakening. Likewise, I was going to go pick up a few things and turn in some paperwork, but I think that'll hold off until tomorrow.

Amy, I'm sorry to hear that cold is still pummeling you. It's so dry here that I'm running a twenty-four seven humidifier and drinking sixty-four ounces of daily water to stave off my sinuses.

MG, I know what you mean about those taxes, sometimes I believe they're bloodthirsty, especially directly after filing and a lowered account.

Jane, enjoy your trip to the Amish market and time with Cathy. How does Cooper do home alone or do you take him with?

Sorry  you aren't feeling well, Amy.  I hope you get well soon.

It has been chilly and rainy here the last couple of days.  I decided to make a frittata and it has taken me forever to cut up some vegetables and get the eggs, etc. ready to put together and in the oven.  I just am not very good trying to do cooking from a wheelchair.  It takes me forever and wears me out.  It better be as good as I am wanting it to be ......it is probably the last one I'll make.  Too much work!  ::)

Time to hit the sack tonight.  I hope you all had a good day

PHYLLIS, I'm wondering how your frittata turned out!  I made an egg casserole today.  I don't really know what to call it because I just put stuff together and popped it in the oven.  It has tater tots that I put in the chopper and chopped into small pieces and then put some cheese and bacon on top of it and poured beaten eggs and chopped cheese on top with the last of the chopped up tater tots and bacon on that.  I guess you could call it "Jane's Breakfast Stuff".  Anyway, I like it and that's all that matters.

Daughter Christy is coming up from Maryland tomorrow to spend a few days.  Frankie is her daughter so for a while we'll be a three generation family together!

PATRICIA, Cooper does not go shopping with us.  If he did, he'd have to sit in the car and wait and I don't think he'd like that.  Wenger's is a grocery store and no dogs allowed!  But he doesn't seem to mind staying at my house.  He's as much at home here as he is "at home".  And he knows he's loved here!

AMY, I hope you are feeling better today and even better tomorrow!  However, you deserve a couple days off!  You need to take care of YOU!

Guess I better get headed for the haystack.  Morning comes early on the days Frankie works!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Drop by and share your day with us!

Good morning...

Chilly but sunny day..Furkids have been fed and taken out. Geese flying overhead..not many. Mourning dove is back and still no sign of Drop Wing.

Another day of doing nothing......seems one foot ahead of the other is a hard job but this too shall pass.

Phyllis, thank you. How did your frittata turn out. If you made it again could you use chopped frozen veggies?

Jane, have fun with Christy's visit!!

Patricia, you added a new term  hold off along with our  maybe, some day and think about it.

Rick, did you get much rain? Is your grass looking green or still in the dormant stage. All too soon we will have the joob of cutting grass.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

The rain is gone and the sun is up and bright. Looks like a couple of days of sun but the rain to come back on Monday.
The "wild life" is picking up, with my "friends" from last year back - Robin, cardinals, wood pecker, doves, blue jays, and smallest but many - sparrows.
As far as the grass - still not green, except the few clumps of onion grass - that will be tended too.

Rick, I had to look up "onion grass" Wow, do you eat it? Sounds similar to chives only better! Must look to see if we have any here.
We do have wild leeks which are tasty..a few years ago folks that bought a trug gave us some and I planted half..the rest we ate. So far each year they have come up and this year I can pick some.

I don't eat onion grass. I do have some chives that come up every year, in a controlled area.
The onion grass pops up randomly on the lawn in clumps. It grows faster than the grass, doesn't look good, and smells of onion when the lawn is cut. Fairly strong smell. Considered a weed around here.

Morning, everyone!

I've been dreading the day Oscar incurs something serious. I took him to the vet, just to be safe, after a few weeks of him howling around 3-3:30am every day, and a few lesser howls on a few days. He and Shan have been looking to knock things off shelves and table tops. I expected that it was a delayed behavioral thing because of the move. What I got, is 1.) the possibility that he is losing his hearing, and 2.) The Biggy: his liver level is abnormal, not badly, but still... Since it is not far off, the vet is hesitant to send him for an "not pleasant" ultrasound. For now, I decided to wait until his regular annual check-up in October to get another test result to see if it has progressed. I was looking up info on liver disease in cats and discovered quite a few liver related ailments, and many are common. So, off I went to see if I could find cat food for liver problems. Guess what! There are precious few. Royal Canin has a dry food only offering, and Purina has a special formula, but it is sold only in Europe. So, I am off to find the closest regular cat food with high protein, high carb, very low copper wet food. The low cooper is very important. The dry food offerings use mostly grains, pork protein, chicken to a lessor degree. The important thing for Oscar is to keep his weight up (he has lost more weight), and keep copper levels down. Oscar likes fresh chicken and pork, so I will continue to give him some when I make it.

Meanwhile, I am still waiting to hear from the oral surgeon's office. They still haven't got back to me even after I called last week to check on same. How odd!

Other projects, go to the tax office in Enola on Monday. I have yet to receive my first local tax bill for the house property. I left a message on the phone, but haven't heard back from them either. My broker sent me paperwork to review and sign. I will be doing that over the weekend. Make an appointment to get new front brake pads, and go get my hair cut, very soon.

Leeks! National emblem of Wales, along with Daffodils, aka:  "Peter's leek". Cenhinen Bedr in Welsh. Both are often worn on St. David's Day (March 6).

It is a sunny day here, but it will be some time before we see temps get above 60o.

MarsGal - Keep after the oral surgeon's office.  Something doesn't sound right.  Ask what the delay is.  My son has a tooth problem and gets almost immediate feedback. He's now waiting for the "socket" to heal enough to do an implant.

MG I googled and found this..hope Oscar feels better soon.

Giving your cat more seafood or tuna will provide them with Omega-3 fatty acids which are proven to keep their liver healthy. You can also choose to provide them with Omega-3 supplements.

Maybe Patricia can help as she has more experience with cats.

Rick ,I put our chives in  a can when planted so they wouldn't overtake the area.

Amy, I like fresh veggies so prefer to use them.  I sauté them just a little because we like the "crunch" but, I think frozen vegs. would work just fine.  Along with onion, cherry tomatoes, garlic I put in chopped red bell pepper and that was really good.  You could also use zuchinni or any kind of squash or even sweet potatoes.  The frittata looked so good right out of the oven. It puffed up nicely and I added some cheddar and parmesan cheese to it.  I used 7 eggs and that made a big dish.  David ate 2 pie-shaped wedges and I had one.  Frittata reheats very nicely so we may have the leftover for lunch today.

Amy, I keep wondering....is Babe still with you?

Jane, your "breakfast stuff" sounded good.  I like eating breakfast dishes any time of the day.    I think of it as comfort food.

MG,  I hope you can find a diet for Oscar that is healthy for him.  What won't we do for our fur friends?

Rick, as a kid I used to eat the wild onions when they came up in the spring.  Later, I preferred chives from the garden or grocery store.  People around here hunt for and love ramps.  All of those things are in the onion family, I think, and very tasty , IMO.

Take care, All.

Good morning, thirty degrees here at 10:04 and our snow is in the ugly stage, sinking into itself. Our streets are basically clear, with small areas of ice along the outside.

MG, this is what I found online for you; https://safe.duckduckgo.com/?q=liver+issues+with+cats&ia=web

Amy, "hold off" might be a midwestern term, as it was common in our house growing up with parents from Kansas and Missouri.

While I don't think we have ramps grown locally, we do have wild onions and leeks. And very prolific onion grass. The Interior has rich black glacial soil, which is why, combined with almost 24/7 daylight, makes hardy gardens. This is one reason why FDR sent so many colonies of dust bowl victims to Alaska for a fresh start.

"Everything in Alaska is a little bit bigger — even the produce. A 138-pound cabbage, 65-pound cantaloupe and 35-pound broccoli are just a few of the monsters that have sprung forth from Alaska's soil in recent years."

In the Fairbanks area, there is a thriving peony export business,  https://www.uaf.edu/news/archives/news-archives-2010-2021/20-years-of-peonies-a-budding-industry-blooms.php

A GOOD FRIDAY greeting to all. The last two days we have been on the run....seems I take much longer now to recuperate‼️🤣

Had balance class, PT and a doctor appointment all on Wednesday.  Good news from doc appointment as I was able to get two injections on my left and right hip bursa joints and they are already feeling so much less pain.  I just hope and pray they last for awhile🙏🙏

Sorry you are not feeling well AMY.  Take it easy on yourself and let yourself recover🥰🥰 Today is the first day I am feeling better....this bug has lasted forever.  Send yours away QUICK‼️‼️

JANE, I hope you are happily shopping at the Amish store.

MG, sent off our taxes also and happy to have it done just as you are‼️‼️ We have car tags due also and that is done‼️‼️. So sad about the tragedy in Baltimore Harbor😩😢 Happy you and Sue had a nice lunch together.

Headed out the door to go get Bob's drivers license renewed.....he is 80 and can no longer do it online😩😩 Seems a lot of things change when one turns 80🤷

Have a good day EVERYFRIEND‼️‼️

Good morning

May see sun poke its nose today. Another day of take it as it comes here.

Jenny so happy to read you are feeling better.

Patricia, keep that cabbage away from Jane!! She will whip it into cabbage rolls and or cole slaw!! Wow that is one big cabbage.

Phyllis,I may have to try one of those only make half a recipefor us. Yes, Babe is still with us. She has good days and not so good days but good wins out. She seems to know I am not "good" and will try or even get up on her own without me pulling her on her feet. Yesterday she walked faster than I and after what needed to be done I let the strap go and I sat down and waited for her to come in. She is eating, drinking and even telling me it is treat time.

Rick, easy picking of your chives! If there is room you could throw in some radish seeds if you like radish, even lettuce too

Enjoy your day and stay safe

Thanks, Patricia. I have visited some of those sites, but some did not come up on my browser search, so I will be checking them out too. My browser of choice these days is Brave. I forget which search engine I am using but you can bet that is is not Bing or Google.

Well, I solved the oral surgeon problem. It appears that they did send me something, but through some scheduling, etc. website they use rather than having their own. They sent it to my cell phone as a pdf titled simply by my first name. The phone number and website, which at first I couldn't display all of, were unfamiliar. I thought it was spam or a con. After a whole week I got brave and opened it and recognized where the .pdf came from, but there were not instructions other than a place for me to sign the page. I think I am supposed to sign it and send it back, but no instructions to do so. I guess I am supposed to sign and reply to the same weird email address it came from. The web address included NexHealth and a whole bunch of numbers and letters. Not the kind of email address that I have ever seen before. Looks more like a direct link to some online thing. Before replying, I will be calling them again.  I suspect the number I call to make an appointment is also part of this organization. NexHealth is a software development company headquartered in San Francisco. Anyone ever had any dealings with them?

Good morning, another late start after another late night but, here I am. MG, I use the Fox privacy, no track browser and DuckDuckGo for search and other web activity. I stay as far away from Microsoft and Google as I can. I had never heard of Brave before. Below is some info on DuckDuckGo which is a privacy search engine and does have its own browser if you need extra, no track privacy.

https://duckduckgo.com/

That type of insurance, and primary this and that, is illegal here. You have a doctor for general, a surgeon if it's serious, and insurance doesn't rule the equation.

That cabbage record is from 2019. I'm sure it's been surpassed more recently.

As I understand it, we have rich black soil from retreating ancient glaciers, almost 24/7 sunlight and being in the arctic, we don't get the damaging edge of the sun rays. "At polar latitudes, the sun's rays hit the Earth at even more of a slant. So, at polar latitudes, incoming solar radiation is spread over an even larger surface area, and is even less intense than at mid-latitudes." We're at the lower edge of the arctic, so we get the sun for crops but not the burn, thus the larger growth. Our summers range between mid-sixties to mid-eighties.

Amy, I'm so happy to hear about Babe, she is one of the lucky ones. I hope you feel better soon. I'm at the opposite end, there's no humidity to speak of and my skin and nasal passages are so dry that a sneeze starts a nose bleed. I run my humidifier 24/7.

Jane, I envy your family closeness, my family is 2,256 miles from here, although my sister and I email daily.

HAPPY EASTER

Lots of sun today and a starting temp of 27°. Quiet Easter here not only do I have the "cold" but now Kyle is giving a run on the kleenex. Never had a cold like this, makes you weak as a kitten.
I am getting really good at doing "nuthin" do the essentials.....maybe..then rest.
Our pantry is well stocked so we want for nothing .

Patricia, each day is a blessing not only for Babe but us. I was cooking lean hamburg up for the dogs and they turned their nose up on it. Now I am cooking up chicken hearts and beef liver( doesn't that sound appitizing),chop it up and feeding that with some of the broth. They both dive into their dishes and clean them up.

Janie ,have fun with all your family..

Everyone fed, taken out and now I am done..will do what I have been doing.......nothing.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, another late one. I have finished brewing my coffee, fed Farrah and myself and participated in our morning meet and greets. It's 37 out there at 8:41 and there's more and more cleared spots as the snow melts and sinks into itself.

Farrah has taken to following me from room to room and has discovered she can hide beneath the couch cover, leaving only a paw in the clear. Yesterday, she lay straight out with only her head covered. I tried to get a photo, but each time, she felt movement and emerged.

I need to get out to the store, but all I seem to want to do is be a couch potato. Likewise, I'm still running my humidifier.

Amy, I'm glad Babe is doing so well and enjoying her meals. My second husband would have loved that, cooked. He loved the organ meats.

Hello and good morning to Jane, Rick and MG! I hope you and anyone lurking is having a wonderful Easter.
