Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

A Brand New Start
by Jill Lemming

God sometimes brings us to a place
where answers can't be found...
Where we cannot see tomorrow,
for confusion all around.

Yet deep inside we realize
that all things work for good...
Even times when we've been wounded
and we feel misunderstood.

Don't dwell on the injustice
and stay focused on God's heart...
Find forgiveness and go on,
you can make a brand new start.

Circle of Life
by Shelly Middleton

The leaves have turned from green to brown,
those have fallen to the ground.

Some are orange and some are red,
those still linger over head.

The air has turned from warm to chilled.
The harvest sets out in the field.

Soon the trees will all be bare.
The winter chill will soon be here.

The snow will fall and cover the land,
a beautiful white like ocean sand.

Nights grow long, days disappear.
But hope falls eternal, spring is so near.

Flowers will bloom in the defrosted ground.
A seasons renewal, rebirth will be found.

Then summer burns the daylight bright.
Children play into the night.

Circle of Seasons from dark into light,
remind us forever of the circle of life.

An elderly woman went to her doctor, complaining about not being able to hear out of one ear.

The doctor then took his penlight, looked in her ear, then took his tweezers, reached in, and pulled something out.

After examining the object for a second, he exclaimed,
"Well...it seems you inserted a suppository into your ear...".

The old lady thought for a second, then responded
"Gee...I guess that explains why I can't find my hearing-aid...

Good morning..

Thank you for the new start Bubble.. did you also know you can't put two hearing aids in one ear? Just ask Kyle and he will tell you it doesn't work. :2funny:
Been busy and another busy day ahead..frost overnight  we may see a high of 62° today.
Better get the day started.
Enjoy your day and stay safe

Good Morning, Everyfriend!  I'm getting ready to have lunch with one of my former high school classmates.  Cathy will be driving me there to meet her and her daughter will be driving her there to meet me.  Our daughters were also high school classmates!  So the four of us will have lunch together.  I wonder how often that happens!

After lunch, we might stop at a local store to pick up some stuff and then again, we might not!

Frankie will be coming here for supper and then to spend the night.  I'm looking forward to that!  She's going to get the stuffed pork chops ready to bake and this morning she said she's bringing the potatoes, too.  All I have to do is make sure the pork chops are thawed and make a vegetable!  Sounds like an easy job for me!

I wish you all a good day today!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to tell us how you did that!  We might want to try your way!

Thanks, Bubble, for using one of my graphics again.  And for including one of my favorites, Robert Frost...a wise New England farmer who was a talented poet.

Happy October, everyone.

Happy October Oneth!

Busy day today.  Son took me to a medical appointment (all good  ), housekeeper came at the same time to clean while we were gone, and son is now running errands in my car, which hasn't been driven in about a month!

We'll have sliders, applesauce Jello and potato chips for lunch he gets back. Then clean and change batteries in  solar lights in flower beds.

THEN, I'll think I'll

Have a good day, Everyfriend.

Good morning, so nice to see so many lost posting again. We had our first snow, which melted, but each morning sees rooftops whitened and glistening.

We've decided on possibly waiting until the fourth or the fifth for our morning brunch and shop, so I may brave the chill and pay some bills tomorrow. I'll also be ordering some necessities from Amazon sometime this week, not sure when, but that's all. No waiting on anyone's packages, so that's good, and about it for the day other than my PSP classes.

I hope everyone's day is good and tomorrow better, and add my best wishes for a happy, sane month.

I'll try to be quiet, too, Amy.  David helped me get down stairs and then went back to his bed to try to squeeze in some more sleep so I will  sit here and drink  my coffee.  55 here and cloudy.  I'll finish some potato soup that I started yesterday,  and try to catch up on some paper work and that's about it.

Take care, All.

Go ahead, ---scream your heads off.  :jump:  7:00 is my get up time, unless I'm lucky and can sleep till 7:30ish. We made it down to about 47 last night. Still no signs of a killing frost. Not even a light frost.

Good Night to all my friends~  I have a few things to finish up and then I'm going to hit the sack!  Cooper will be arriving tomorrow morning about 5:45.  Frankie has to be to work at the hospital by 6 a.m.  It's too early to go for a walk because it's still dark so he waits patiently until I say, "ok Cooper, it light enough for a walk and in not time he's at the door!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and great day tomorrow.  Be sure to come by and tell us what you are doing with your day.  Maybe we'll join you!  Happy October!

Good morning..

Brrr...temp is 31° at the moment. Another busy day taking away all the bags of pine needles and then home to work.  Made pork schnitzel and froze 4 packages for later on meals. Tested some that didn't get vacummed sealed along with creamed peas  and it was good.

Not quite as cold here, but we were down to 47° overnight. Today might just be the day the heat gets turned on - if it doesn't warm up outside.  This house holds the heat, but also holds the cold.

Yesterday was a pleasant 24C for the Kippur 25H fast and for the first time in years I was not even thirsty.  Today on the other hand it is 33C inside, and I heard that it was 40C on the beach, on the display atop the safeguard cabin.

For the mext three days it will drop to 27C.  The winter hasn't arrived yet.

OnLonelyMountain

Good Friday morning everybody,
I had another round of severe symptoms the 29th. Ick! It took me aa couple of days to climb out of the pit. In the meantime we've had days and nights of pouring rain. My internet went ka-pooie. Night time temps mid-upper 40°sF, day time temps in the 60°s. We had hard frost a couple of nights the week before, and it looks like we're plunging into night time lows at or near freezing again, this coming week, with 50° day time highs. Definitely fall transitioning to winter. Fall was short.

Yumm, everybody's warm cooking: soup, sliders, pork chops, etc., sounds so tasty!!! My ability to swallow has taken a dive, so I'm back to liquids. I am eating, which is a blessing. Really needed that reminder, Bubble! Thank you!

Hoping to get the internet booster set up securely (from rodents and ungulates) tomorrow.

Marilynne, thanks for the " :smitten: ", right back at you!  :smitten:

Exhausted (too soon), need to rest.

Take care!

Good morning, sounds as if we all have the same weather, 37 now but only a high of 45 with rain continuing and possible snow. It's been nine inches in the passes, with two highways affected.

I'm leaving shortly for brunch and a little shopping and bill paying, so here's to everyone having a good, safe, warm, and sane day!

I had a long and friendly chat with our resident physician last week who, as it turns out, is also a psychiatrist. During the course of our conversation he revealed that I am in the early stages of alzheimers. I suppose that I should have been troubled by that news, but I wasn't; I'm 90 years old and in good health so, at that age I would expect something to be wrong with me, and this is it. I am not wringing my hands and wailing woe is me; I'm just getting on with my life and enjoying myself and will continue to do so.

so_P_bubble

Hi Don!  Great to see you here..
Getting forgetful is not the end of the world, we will all get to that stage, sooner or later.

We are in the middle of the  great holidays period, between Rosh Hashana New Year and Succot * days celebration. It means a lot of festive meals and of course overeating too LOL

You remember when you helped me prepare borekas?
We could bake a batch of them and put them in the hidey hole for all you memebers!

Have a pleasanr weekend!

Amy

Good morning..

We are going from freeze to fry weather this coming week. Just when you thought no more a/c there is a strong possibility of it being turned on! Temp is 49° at the moment.

Working inside today ,will hang laundry out but that is it.

Don, I second Bubbles. "great to see you"  and it is not the end of the world.

Bubble..recipe ..for borekas???

Everyone has been fed but the fish and that is next. At least they don't hollor for food like the crows!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Hello Everyfriend!  It's been "one of those days"!  I ran out of batteries for my hearing aids and Cathy doesn't have time to go for them.  I told her I'll be good for at least 5 days because both of them have new batteries.

It's so nice to see all of you posting!  The weather here is up into the 70s today but it goes down into the 40s overnight.  It's definitely early Fall weather in Central Pennsylvania.  We could have some warm days in October but it's definitely Fall where I live!

Cindy (my best follower at Girl Scout Camp back when I was a counselor) amd O I had a discussion about some of the things we made over the campfires.  One that stuck out was "picheeams".  And it stuck in my mind.  Today I went through the cupboards and found everything I needed to make them and I had one for my lunch.  I'll have another one for my lunch tomorrow and I have two more and some of the stuff to make another batch.  I love them and I used to make them at home for my family and they all liked them.  FYI...it's a slice of meat, a slice of pineapple and cheese on top.  And you eat it on a hamburger bun.  And that description is making me hungry for another one!  I might not be able to wait for tomorrow's lunch!

I wish you all a good rest of te day and a peaceful night's sleep!  I also wish you a good day tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way!

Good noontime, is that a thing? I was out a while with friends and picked up a few items I'd forgotten the last time. We had our usual brunch out, eggs, bacon or sausage with potatoes, toast and marmalade. I may not want to eat again until tomorrow.

We did let each other know how we felt about the world's problems, other issues, and our opinion of those thinking they could fix them. Of course, others may disagree, some within our own families. But debate is good if we remember that courtesy plays a large, important part in any discussion.

I was just over at Norm's where Callie, Marilyne and I were discussing mountains and our perceptions of them depending on where we lived and what we knew. I certainly learned a lot from both.

Amy, we're at 39 presently, never did get that nine inches promised yesterday, although they did in the mountains. We simply had gray days with accompanying rain. Yesterday, we had very cold wind gusts that felt like it could lift you and carry you off. Evidently that will be our usual weather at least through Monday, the thirteenth.

Don and Bubble, so nice to see your posts! Don, you are missed, and it comes to us all, both my sister and mother had Alzheimer's.

Jane, I'd never heard of picheeams, and I was a girl scout between six and fourteen and even a camp counselor one year at girl scout camp. Although my main focus then, as was with most of the counselors, was the boy scout camp and their counselors who we used to meet at night, in the middle of the lake, via canoes when we could get away. We thought we were so grown up, flirting across the waters.

Amy

Good morning..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.
