Turn Turn Turn
(Pete Seeger)

To everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time to be born a time to die, a time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal, a time to laugh, a time to weep

To everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven
A time to build up a time to break down, a time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together

To everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
A time of love, a time of hate, a time of war a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing

To everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose, a time to rend, a time to sew
A time of love, a time of hate, a time of peace, I swear it's not too late

To everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn
And a time to every purpose under heaven
To everything turn turn turn there is a season turn turn turn
And a time for every purpose under heaven

Hello, and good night. Tomorrow is another day.

Good Morning!  Thank you, BUBBLE for bringing us face-to-face with a new month.  I can hardly believe September is upon us.  Where does the time go!  I heard my Gramma say that once when I was very young and I wondered what she meant.  Now I know!  The days past faster and faster the older we get!

Cooper will be here today and then Frankie has 3 days off!  She's going to come over on one of them and help me get the windows cleaned....and give Cooper a bath!  So I have to be alert!

JENNY, it sounds like you've had some busy days and it also sounds like you got lucky with your doctor.  It's always nice when that happens.  Used to be we went to the dr. and it was always the same one.  Now it seems you never know who will see you when you go!  Also, it's OK if you don't like pumpkin pie.  It's about the only kind I do like so it all went!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning..

Temp is starting out at 43° but will soon get to the upper 70's. Next week we are to get into the 90's!!

A few jobs are pressing to be done but after I do the changing of the brine in the cucumbers.

Bubble, thank you for the new start. Wise words to think about.

Jane, I swear, time really does fly!! Seems we just started  into Summer and now Fall is upon us.

Jenny, hope this new treatment works for a long time for you. Giving you a life of pain free would be nice.

Better get ready to meet the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe

We started at around 55° but it's already climbing. I think that's the coolest it has been all summer. Have to do that end of the month bookkeeping, and be sure there are no pending bills.

Have a good one everybody.

Happy September Oneth!

I noticed this morning that the sun isn't shining quite as directly into my patio door. Must be "moving south", which means Fall is approaching - although verrrrry  slowwwwly around here.  Temps still in the low 100's.

The past three+ weeks have been hectic!  First, podiatrist discovered a hairline fracture in my left ankle. I wear braces on both feet, anyway, and was "fitted" with a big, heavy, klunky boot on that one.  :(  Dragging it around wore me out so I spent most of my time in the recliner.

Next, although everything was normal on annual physical report, I had a bladder infection (no symptoms) and was put on a week's med that went okay until the final doses - but didn't do a thing for my energy level!

That was the week before granddaughter's wedding!!!!!  Fortunately, final dose was the day before. However, I had a reaction the morning of the wedding which resulted in son taking me to Urgent Care.  When doctor there learned of my physical's report and that I tested Negative for Covid that morning, he said it was probably allergies and I was "Good To Go".  (I disagree on cause - think it was a reaction to the med). But...I felt better as day went on and was fine at the wedding

It had already been decided that I would use a wheelchair at the wedding so I wore the braces instead of the boot to the Event.
The ceremony was outside at sunset and was absolutely beautiful.  "After party" (not a formal reception) was so much fun.
I was at a table with 2 out-of-town nephews, niece/spouses.  When the dancing began, oldest nephew suddenly wheeled me out on the dance floor ;D  After a few minutes, one son cut in - after which other son did and Sir Carson finished up. There weren't very many others dancing and, apparently, all my partners and I were the "hit of the show".

Ellen was, of course, the Maid of Honor for her sister and was able to come over for a good visit before she went back to NYC.

I've spent this week "recuperating" and getting household organized.  Still worn out but think ankle has healed - at least to the point where brace feels better than boot.

And that's what's going on in my world.
Wishing  Everyfriend Everywhere a Fantastic Friday and a Happy Labor Day weekend.

Callie, our pharmacist  broke her ankle and also had to wear a big boot. Being co-owner of the business and it was a busy one she couldn't just stay seated or drag that boot around. There is a kneerover that one can use to make things much easier.

It is FRIDAY AGAIN......these weeks just fly by‼️

Thank you B8BBLE for all the goodies you have shared in our nice clean forum❣️

JANE, if I were a guest at your home I would definitely have a small piece of your Pumpkin Pie❣️❣️

CALLIE, so nice to read up on how and what you have been doing.  I saw the beautiful bride on FB and commented to you.  The event sounded wonderful and I am happy for you to have everything worked out so you could attend and be part of the HIT of the night❣️❣️

AMY, I see people with those scooters to put their knee on......if I needed crutches or that scooter thingie I would be in TROUBLE....Have tried to use crutches.....disaster followed and I can not put any pressure on either of my knees since my total knee replacement 😩😩. I sure wish I could pop in and pull a tater or two out of your trug❣️

JANE, yesterday I had a passing thought of remembering how wonderful the PA Bash was.....knowing how much work went in to doing it, etc.  Sad to think that we may never have the opportunity to do this get together EVER again😩

Thank you for the encouraging words about my going on and on about pain issues‼️😩 I appreciate the encouragement and certainly hope and pray I do get relief out of this.  JANE, again, you are right...in the old days we had one doc to treat ALL issues and now I think I have 5 or 6 minimum with a finger in all of this‼️ I never ever thought I would be the one to be so involved with my medical issues.  And certainly not to talk so much about them.....unfortunately you all are a sounding board for me and it helps me to put things in perspective 🤪🤪🤪

I am feeling much better today....

Enjoy this coming holiday weekend..... we are doggie sitting so that will be our entertainment ‼️🥰🥰🥰

HUGS all around❣️
Jenn

Amy, the physical activity I do best is Sit Still!! :D  I use a walker with a seat, anyway, and could put my knee on it but I think hopping on the other foot would be just as hard on me.
Fortunately, it's much better and actually feels more secure in the usual brace than in the boot.  I go for checkup next Wednesday and will have a "chat" with the doctor.

Jenny, I don't think anyone posted the video of me dancing with all the partners and I'm not going to mention it.  :-X I've been reading about your health issues and have had - and will continue to have - you in my thoughts and prayers.

I quite agree with you and Jane about one doctor taking care of everything!!!!!  I am so tired of being sent to "ists" (as in podiatrIST, audiologIST, opthamalogIST, etc. etc. ad finitum.

Grocery order just delivered.  Off to kitchen to put things away.  I plan a "leisurely" weekend watching OU and OKState football.

I'm sitting here in front of the computer eating my supper and checking up on "stuff"!  I have the upcoming weekend off.  No Cooper coming!  Frankie has the weekend off and it's her turn for a holiday off so she has 3 days in a row!  Cooper's gonna love being with his Mommy!  She did say that one of the days she'll be over to use my bathtub to give him a bath and she's going stay and help me wash windows!

CALLIE, the wedding sounds like lots of fun for everyone and a special day for the bride and groom!  My best wishes to everyone and how nice to have a special visit with your "other" granddaughter!

JENNY, I wouldn't make you eat pumpkin pie when you visit me!  I'd have cookies or chocolate cake or maybe an Angel Food Cake, a nice cherry pie.  I have one granddaughter who will not even taste pumpkin pie and just let her do that and tell her she doesn't know what she's missing!

It sounds like lots of good stuff in happening in everyone's lives.  Keep it up!

Have a good day!

Good morning from another sodden Interior day!

There's not much going on here again, but I will need to go today or tomorrow for bills and groceries. My house is the cleanest it's ever been, and my computer is as clean and organized as its ever been. Rain is expected to continue through the seventh.

Special Weather Statement issued September 01 at 4:08PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks

...Snow Above 3000 Feet After Midnight Tonight...

Snow levels will drop to 2000-3000 ft across the Interior, Brooks Range and Alaska Range after midnight tonight. Little if any snow will accumulate below 3000 ft, while an inch or two of snow will accumulate by Saturday morning in areas above 3000 ft. Areas in the Alaska Range above 4000 ft could see 4-6 inches of snow by Saturday morning.

A strong Arctic cold front now over the West Coast of Alaska will move east across the Interior late tonight and Saturday. This will bring much cooler temperatures along with the lower snow levels to the Interior, Alaska Range and Brooks Range after midnight tonight.

Winds and rain across the Interior will diminish Saturday afternoon and evening as high pressure builds over the Eastern Interior. Below freezing temperatures are expected near the ALCAN Border Saturday night. In Fairbanks clouds are expected to move in late Saturday night to keep temperatures above freezing.

The Alaska Range could also see rock and mud slides through tonight as more rain falls on saturated soils.

I DID IT! I TURNED THE MATTRESS! AND IT WASN'T EVEN THAT HARD TO DO!

PATRICIA, your post makes me happy that I don't live in Alaska!  I'm not ready for snow!  And the other part of your post makes me feel "off" that my house is NOT clean!  But I'm working on that!

Jane, there's not that much else to do on multiple rainy days. Alaskan weather has been unusual, similar to other parts of the world, for the past three years. The snow is in the mountains surrounding us, at 2,000 to 3,000 elevation.

Way to go JANE!  Used to be we had two sides of the mattress, now only one. :(

We picked up meds and rain started in town.On the way home we noticed it didn't get any rain.....at the time. Next came the rumbling of thunder and then we got a light rain. All is well now ,laundry is hung out but I am keeping an eye on the sky!!

Patricia, please keep the snow your way for a while anyways.

Rick, we also like the cooler temps . We are heading into a few days of temps in the 90's and that really does not impress me. I know all too soon the colder weather will be upon us . Need to get the snowblower checked over and ready for the dance......oh boy.

Good Night Everyfriend! I'm heading for the haystack!  I've worn myself to a frazzle today and I'm ready for some snoozing!  Tomorrow will be a busy day also beginning with my walk (without a doggie leading me) and then getting ready for church, going there and visiting with friends after.

Frankie is coming over to give Cooper a bath sometime in the early afternoon and he will be spending the night with me while she spends the evening with friends.  I suspect they'll have a few drinks and then sleep it off!

I'm not looking forward to the HOT days coming up.  I wonder if this will be our Indian Summer and then winter will be upon us early.  Or will Indian Summer last a month instead of a couple weeks?  how do we know what to expect?  Everything is changing!  Oh well!  Good night to you all!  Sleep peacefully!

I do believe we need a frost before we have an Indian Summer. So this might just happen again later :'(

Good morning..

Starting at 56° this morning. A day of rest here..just "need" to do the pickles and then rest.

Rick, frost would be nice here, there is something in the grasses that Babe is allergic to. She will lick her feet clean of hair, not a pretty sight. I now have meds and spray to stop this but frost would kill the culprit.

Patricia, when do you get the first snow in your area? Here we can get it in late October, just enough to make a mess of everything. Then it does get serious in Nov.

Jane, enjoy your time with friends and Cooper.

Enjojy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning to anyone who drops by especially to you, AMY.

I forgot we needed to have a frost before Indian Summmer dropped on us!

I sure hope your doggie's feet stop bothering her!  That's hard for them to take!

I'm finishing my breakfast and then taking my walk.  When I get back, I'll have my shower, get ready for church and the day will be on the way!  Make it a good one Everyfriend!

A good frost would also stop the ragweed, which I would be more than thankful for. But --- it is a bit too early for that. Maybe in October.

Good morning from a chill forty-degree Interior, but it's cloudy, which should hold any heat in. We're having a day off from the rain, so I must leave soon to hunt, gather, and pay a few folks. I spoke too soon, it's raining again.

Amy, we usually have our first snow at Halloween or close to it, but normal's been missing the last three years as climate change intensifies. Before, August had the rain, and September was cooler yet beautiful. I cannot predict the weather anymore. The past three years have hastened all my friends into selling their homes and land and leaving their lives of twenty to forty years. It's a new era and one we're still finding our footing.

Instead of outings, we're calling and socializing daily in our meet and greets.

I just saw on the news that 73 thousand revelers have been stranded at the Burning Man festival due to torrential rain, with one death so far. Do they have housing other than tents or emergency facilities for that number of people?

Good morning..

Back into the frying weather for the next few days.

Last of the flowers to be dealt wih today and put the flower boxes away for another year.

I heard some fireworks but they were far away and didn't bother the dogs. Today traffic will be bumper to bumper with some not meeting their destination. Yesterday a car flew by us and out of sigh in jig time, as we ventured on we caught up with it and so the the OPP   I always, say better a ticket than a body bag!

Patricia, that sounds about the same as here. Once we get that first snow, have it melt we get into nice weather before the staying snow comes.

Jane, did Cooper share the bed with you? These two are bed hogs! Curiosity  got the better part of me and I pulled a parsnip yesterday. Measured 45" fron the top of the green leaves to the bottom of th root. Can' wait till they get a frost!

Rick ,yes a good frost would kill what ever is bothering Babe also.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Yes, AMY, Cooper did "share" the bed...if that's what you want to call it.  I don't think both my dogs took up as much room in the bed as he does!  I amazes me that such a little doggie can get so big when he goes to bed!  But I'll have him any time!

Right now, he's ready for his first walk of the day so I better get my shoes on and get going!  Have a good day, Everyfriend!

Good morning, another soggy, gray day at 48 degrees. The continuing rain forecast has moved into mid-September; this is another new record for this year. I'm tired of all these new records; it seems like nothing is the same. All citywide Labor Day festivities have been canceled or moved indoors.

I have nothing to report; I went out yesterday, paid everyone off, and collected some meat and veggies. Today, we're having a potluck at Jayne's new place; I cheated and bought ingredients for a big green salad as I can't seem to get behind cooking a big main dish or dessert.

Amy, your garden sounds so lovely and plentiful. I lay good money that neither you nor Kyle have trouble sleeping, even with the two bedhogs! My folks were like that; our basement shelves were full of canned fruits and vegetables, but neither my sister nor I got past meal prepping.

You two have doggy bedhogs to contend with. Farrah is so entitled that she stands and waits until I move the pillow over so she can lay between it and the wall. If I don't move quickly enough, she sits and stares at me until I jump to it!

HAPPY LABOR / LABOUR DAY to EVERYFRIEND 🇺🇸 🇨🇦

We have kept busy with the grand dogs here.  Managed to leave them home Saturday evening to join a special cousin and her husband who are camping at a local reservoir. Their spot was perfect and the weather cooperated and it was a nice cool evening. We did not get to do campfire time 😩 due to the doggies being home alone, but we ALL sure enjoyed our time together.

Yesterday, we packed the dogs up and headed north, just under one hour to spend time with our youngest grands and their parents.  Love to get to spend that precious time with my boys❣️ We went to a splash pad park and watched all the fun the kiddos have in the water.  The little guy sure loves it🥰🥰. Then dinner with them before heading back home.  Lovely time❣️

Dr. Dave and family return home from San Francisco today after a delightful time with our youngest son and his wife.  Last night they shared videos of them Ubering to dinner in driverless cars😱😱 Both grandsons got to sit in the front seat and I can not wait to hear how strange it must be having no driver...especially to the oldest one who is a driver himself‼️🤣
They all, of course, had a wonderful time together .  It made my heart happy🥰

No plans for today.....just taking it easy and enjoying our blessed life❣️

I am so pleased to report that my epidural shots have worked on my hip back and leg pain🙏

CALLIE......I sure wish I could SEE the video of you dancing‼️

JANE......angel food cake....now THAT is one of my weaknesses 🥰🥰

Enjoy this day.

Patricia, that was a good picture you painted of Farrah. Nice that she has you trained. :2funny:  I can't say too much as these guys have us trained as well. Wouldn't have it any other way...if you can't enjoy/spoil them then you shouldn't have them.

Jenny, I told Kyle of your driverless car and we are trying to figure out how it knew where to go and to obey stop lights!! The Jetsons was a cartoon long ago but
it seems what they were doing is now in this era!  So happy to read that the epderial shots worked!!

Just finished 21 pint jars of Mrs B's pickle.. no more that is it for that one
and once the icicle pickles are done  that is it. Only  potatoes  to can and that is it..

I'm all ready to be transported to Cathy's for a cookout for supper tonight.  Frankie is on her way over to give Cooper his bath and then she's my transport to Cathy's.

JENNY, it sure sounds like you had a GREAT weekend!  You visited or talked with lots of family and friends!  What a nice end-of-summer weekend you've had!  And you even managed to mind the doggies while you did everything else!

AMY, you can keep the pickles.  I like pickles but not enough to spend as much time as you do making them.  My kids never got into the pickle thing!  I'll be doing potatoes too and that will be my last except that I have to make vegetable soup and can it.  I always volunteer 5 quarts for the the sale at the church.  It's not a public sale...just an after church sale to church members but there are people who watch for my soup.  And there's one gal who always volunteers to help when it's my week so she can grab her jar right at the beginning!  The request is for a donation of 4 quart jars but I always do 5 so that is my gal isn't there for some reason, I have a jar for her!

I also have a request from one granddaughter for a certain kind of jam that I make and that's done when the apples come in.  She's being very patient but the last thing she told me is that she's getting so READY for it that she's going to need "at least" 2 jars...maybe 3!  I think I'll go for a double batch!

Also, AMY, the recipe for those veggies that the lady told you she cans is in the Ball Blue Book.  I was telling Christy about it and she told me to check out the Blue Book so I did and she's right!

Now I think I'll see what else needs to be done before I head for Cathy's for supper!  Enjoy the rest of your day, Everyfriend!

Good morning...

Back into the 90's again today. Will get some outside work done before it heats up. May meet up with friends to exchange goodies  first. Then a date with a mechanic at 3. Some where in there label and put away the spoils from yesterday.

Summer came and went in a blink of an eye, sure hope Fall takes two or three blinks before Winter is upon us.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Another jammed up morning today.  Cooper came at 6:45 had his breakfast and we took a nice long walk before the heat sets in.  Now I'm ready for Cathy to pick me up to to go for our Covid shot updates.  Then I have a hair cut appointmen and I have to pick up some stuff at WM.  After that, I'll come home and take Cooper for a very short walk in the heat and then wait for Frankie to pick him up!

Then I'll collapse!

RICK, I sort of forgot about "twiddling my thumbs"!  I never was very good at it.  I always seemed to be meeting a thumb going the wrong way!  I guess I'm just not a twiddler!

AMY,  I have all those veggies canned by themselves and waiting for the Vegetable soup time.  I have to get some beef to cook for it and maybe I'll pick that up today and throw it in the pot to cook!

I wish Everyfriend a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow.  And I'm ready for this HEAT to let up!  September is not the right time for it!

Good afternoon, 3:50 presently and 56 degrees. There was no rain today, which was nice as I spent the day gathering the last potatoes at a friend's house and helping her and her husband put the garden to bed for the winter. I came home with lots of goodies, having traded typing up a paper for him and delving into the dirt for fun and some hot moose casserole.

Good morning..

Another fry day with hopes it will be the last! Yesterday did not go as planned but that's ok. Vehicle went in to be dealt with...again. Didn't meet up with friends but will today and the last of the pickles will be done!

Will deal with the pickles then chase dust kangaroos and that should be it.

Patricia, I like the little potatoes , some people throw them away but not me.They would appreciate your help in putting the garden to be.

Jane, hope you can stay in out of this heat today. David is on his way to NC and when I last talked with him he said the temp just turned 100°!!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, another gray day of continuous steady rain. It's forecast to be our last for the month, but we'll see.

Our daily highs have dropped into the mid-fifties, and the lows are in the forties; there are no color changes on the greenery, but that'll come next when our highs drop to the forties. I no longer have friends living in the hills or south along the rivers. They've all moved on, south, stateside, or into town.

Amy, one of my favorite childhood memories is Mom's new potatoes and peas in a light cream sauce. It was always a hit around the table.

Greetings from London Ontario. I looked out my window when I awoke and was greeted with the sight of a deer and her fawn grazing just outside of my window.  They stayed around most of the morning which is unusual, but I guess they know it's a safe area. I was able to share my experience with Bubble by  putting my camera in the window.  But I sure do wonder what pleasure people get from hunting and killing these beautiful  creatures.

Good to see you Don. While you were watching the deer this morning, I was coralling up a chicken. She is one of the young ones that flew over the fence. Caught her and talked away to her while I walked around to put her back in her home. She seemed rather comfortable letting me do the walking in this heat!!!

Jenny, dog hair this time of year is a given.

Patricia, between you and Jenny you could share the cooler weather..please. :)

Cathy and I went to the Farmers Market and I got some apples, carrots, peppers, onions and something else that I forget.  We didn't like the meat they had out there so we made a stop at the local meat market and I got the beef for my vegetable soup that I'm going to can.  It's in the crock pot cooking itself and making broth for the soup.  I already have a lot of the veggies ready to go into it but that will be another day....maybe tomorrow.  I also have a couple of beef roasts for some meals!

I can't stand to do this stuff in the kitchen without the A/C on but once I sit down I freeze in the A/C.  There must be a middle of the road.  My sister and I agreed that at least part of it is that we didn't grow up in A/C.  And the funny thing is, I never minded not having A/C back in the "olden days".

I guess I better get back to work!  The meat must be reaching the cooked stage!  And I have some steps to do before the day ends.

Keep on keeping on!

RADIOMAN, that must have been so neat watching the deer.  I remember back in the house where we raised our family, I opened the drapes one morning and a deer was in our front yard.  I bet we stared each other in the eye only about 7 or 8 feet away.  And the funny part of that is that my husband was off at a hunting camp with friends about 75 miles from where we lived!

Bye, bye!

We got the rain this afternoon and into the evening.  Cooper spent most of the day in the yard and when I heard the thunder and saw it getting darker, I went and called him to come in.  He stood still and looked me in the face and did not come.  So I went out and picked him up and set him on the porch and grabbed a pillow to bring it in.  He tried to get past me to go back down and I blocked him.  He disappeared under the settee on the porch and the next thing I knew he was back in the yard.  He went under the railing and jumped off the porch!  He's such a smartie!

I got him again and inside just as the rain started and his Mommy arrived to pick him up!

The meat is all cooked and jars of tomatoes and string beans are sitting on the counter.  There's corn and peas in the freezer and I have to check what else.  I might need a quick trip to the grocery store for a couple bags of mixed veggies just for appeal.  I checked and I have 2 pints of last years soup left.  Anybody want to finish that off or are you all waiting for the fresh?

I had AMY's 15 bean soup for supper.  But it wasn't made in an Air Fryer.  It was made on the stove and then canned!  Um, Um, Good!

I'm not sure what I did all day but I'm tired!  Gonna hit the haystack early tonight and then hit the floor early tomorrow.  Cooper will be arriving around 6:45 and I like to have breakfast and be dressed when he comes!  I like to do an early walk before it gets too hot!  I think he likes that too.

Hope you all had a good day!  Have another good one tomorrow!  I wish you well.  Think of me and wish me well.  I could use the wishes!

Not much change around here...hot yesterday, hot today, probably hot tomorrow.  Envying you, Jenny.  Many times I have wished we still lived in Loveland. Loved the climate there even when I had to slather on the moisturizer because my skin would dry out.

I made soup last night, too, but I made it the easy way.  Opened a package of dehydrated Tuscan Bean soup, added water and whatever seasoning that sounded good, grabbed some fresh vegs. from fridge, some butter and some olive oil and set it to simmer for about 10 minutes, added some sliced yellow squash and simmered for another 5 min. and we sat down to some really good soup plus two kinds of crackers with cheese and/or peanut butter, and fresh fruit for dessert.  A very satisfying meal.  And, healthy and well balanced, too.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, there are times when we have to take shortcuts  but the end results are just as delicious!

Jane, this year or last year your soup will be really good!! I posted two soup recipes that one can put in the slowcooker/crockpot and forget till time to eat. Now, you have me wanting to make soup...

Cooper and I are back from his walk and we didn't see a single person while walking.  However, we did see a dozen ducks flying overhead between the river on one side of me and the pond nearby where they hang out on their passage.  I think Autumn is coming!

The jars are getting ready for the next batch of canning.  This will be pints.  I have 7 quarts done!  5 will go to the church on the day I promised.  I forget when it is but I think the first week of November....maybe December!  Back to work.  Just wanted to report the ducks!

I'm on my way to the haystack but I stopped by to say Good Night!  It sure wasn't very busy in here today!

I saw another V of ducks and I'm wondering how full the pond is.  When they are REALLY on the move, the pond is covered and it's not a small pond.  I'd like to see them but you have to drive down the road to see the pond.  Maybe tomorrow, when Cooper and I go for a walk, I'll see if we can get around the office building across the road and a go behind it without bothering the workers.  Maybe I should have done that today.  Probably no one working there today!

Good night!  Sleep tight!  See you in the morning!

Good morning...

Starting out at 53° and going to the low 70's today. An overcast day with a wee bit of sun and that is perfect! This is starting off to be a busy week, today I am taking my friend to  the cardiology  clinic , I think this time they may schedule her for her 5th pacemaker. Kyle is staying home to look after the dogs.

I did get some sewing done yesterday and I not only had a couple of dates with Jack, the (seam)Ripper I also had one with Phil (fill my bobbin) I hope this quilt puts a smile on a child as I am thoroughly enjoying making it...other than the dates!

Jane, sent you another recipe. Now you have me wanting to make it!!! I do have some 1/2 pint jars left so ... Once I get the potatoes canned all my pints will be used up. No geese flying here, they usually takr their young on short flights but I have yet to see this.

Better get into my city duds.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Cooper has arrived, had his breakfast and now he's telling me it's time for his walk!  That's what we'll do when I finish here!

Today is "make a decision day"!  My granddaughter has asked for more of a certain kind of jam that I once made and I'm having trouble with finding the recipe.  I now have 4 different recipes for this type of jam and I'll have to make a decision.  Fortunately, they are all pretty much the same and if I have all the ingredients, that's today's project!  Courtney will be be the judge!  Keep your fingers crossed!

Right now our temperature is mid-60s and we're heading for a high of 80 degrees at 4 this afternoon and then backing up to the 70s by 5.  Sounds like Fall to me!

Make today a good one...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; 47 degrees with light rain at 8:37 and an expected high of only 52. This entire month will be rainy, which is a blow. It is an unusual end to unusual summer weather that's becoming normal.

Two people from this building are hospitalized with either Covid or RSV. Both were at the annual Labor Day dinner held in the first-floor community room. So, everyone is back in masks, and they stopped all in-house clothing, household items donations, and public meals. I keep thinking of an ancient, as the tale goes,  Chinese curse of "May you live in interesting times."

I made the Coffee Apple Jam over a recipe sent to me by a good friend.  The friend was our very own AMY and the recipe she sent mostly matched one I picked off line that mostly matched the one in the back of my brain!  I'll let you know how it turned out because the leftovers that didn't make a jar full are waiting in the fridge to be spread on my English Muffin in the morning!

Now I'm off to the haystack because it's going to be another busy day tomorrow and I'm beat right down to my toenails tonight!  And Frankie is coming over to take a shower and give Cooper a bath tomorrow.  The water heater at her apartment building is out and she doesn't want another cold shower.  Then she's heading for the grocery store and she's going to pick up a couple things for me!

Good morning...

Red sky this morning..

Yesterday was fun, after the appointment at the pacemaker clinic  we went shopping. She was so happy with the news that her battery will last another year and half that she was walking on air!
We managed to get some great deals, had fun with store help, then grabbed a bite to eat and headed home.

Today is taking Babe back to the vet for another shot in her ear.Not sure what else will get done in between times.

Jane, glad I could help. Which recipe fit the bill?

Patricia, I believe that Covid or a derivative  will be with us just like the flu is. We were surprised that masks weren't mandatory in the cardiology clicic yesterday.

Better get going .....have two quilts to get ready for delivery.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning to anyone who shows face here this morning and a special to the one who already did!

Doggone it!  I forgot that I was going to try the jam for breakfast and I ate a chunk of an egg casserole that I had in the fridge.  I guess I'll have an English Muffin with jam for lunch.  I have the stuff all gathered for another batch anyway.  So I'm very trusting that it's good!  I can't wait for Courtney's opinion.

As for which recipe I used...I have them all paper clipped together and while I was making it, I had two there.  They were almost exactly the same so they are both paper clipped on top.  I think it might have been the last one you sent because that's when I decided that this was it!  And it almost exactly matched another one that I'd already copied.  My intention is to put the recipe UNDER the jars on the shelf so when the last one goes, I won't have to look for the recipe!

Since Cooper isn't here, I went for my walk alone this morning.  It's foggy out there!  But I got half of my daily steps in already so just doing what I do will probably fill in the rest.  Maybe Cooper and I can take one while Frankie goes to the store!

Now I'm going in and get out the sweeper!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

This morning I heard, on a major Network, a Doctor make a similar statement. He implied we would be getting annual vaccines just like we get Flu shots.  BE AWARE - There has been an uptick in Covid cases. Mask up - be careful.

We have a gentle rain falling, almost hear the ground sigh with relief.

Jane , thank you. I just may make a few jars once the potatoes are done. We don't eat a lot of jam but that one sounds interesting to me. I like your idea of putting the recipe under the last jar of jam!

Good morning; the only difference from yesterday is that the low is cooler. Today is Farrah's eleventh birthday, and she's sick. She threw up a few times early this morning and has since been sleeping in a back corner. She's not eating and only wants to sleep. She had this once before a couple of years back and was better the second day. I'll take her to the vet if she isn't better tomorrow.

Covid, RSV, are here to stay as evidently their viruses continue to mutate constantly, similar to colds and flu. I never stopped masking and I have had all the shots and boosters.

I went to the Grocery this morning, after the lawn guy came and cut my weeds, and I masked up.  Hadn't done that in a bit but decided with all the new info about Covid, RSV, thought I'd better.
I am seeing only a few folks in the stores wearing masks.  Regardless what the "naysayers" are saying, I still think it's the wisest thing to do. That, and the handwashing.  My Mom was the World's Greatest Handwasher, and taught me well.  When she washed her hands, it was like watching a Doctor scrub for surgery!  Y'all stay safe!

HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY to FARRAH CAT😻 PATRICIA, I am sorry to read she is not feeding well....I hope she will be much better tomorrow.

There is a LOT of Covid and RSV cases here in Colorado as well.  I agree it is something we will be inoculated for yearly, just like the flu shot.  I don't know if the RSV is a one time or if it too will be yearly🤷  We did get the flu and RSV a couple of weeks ago, and plan to get the Covid ASAP.

We are traveling to Boston this weekend to visit family and wish we could have had the Covid shot before then😩

It is much cooler out this morning and several "peaks" have snow already😩😩

TOME.....your mama taught you well....commitment to hand washing is the very best way to keep us as safe as possible.  I keep reading that masks protect others rather than protecting US, but I feel it is just one other thing we can do‼️

AMY, great news your friend got regarding her pacemaker......nice to read about the fun you enjoyed afterwards.  Sorry Babe is back to the vet for another shot....hope it works‼️

We are heading out for a bit of shopping and maybe lunch.  Tomorrow I will be getting another epidural shot in the left hip bursa.....hope it is successful like the ones in my lower back🙏 we just got the information on the shot I got in April of this year....the shot was $3800. and Medicare paid $3500....OMG,  no wonder Medicare is running out of money😩😡 I had no idea these shots cost so much‼️

Have a great day, EVERYFRIEND‼️

Well, another day has passed on!  The older I get the faster they go.  Sometimes I stop to look at the clock wondering what time of the morning it is and the clock tries to tell me it's almost 1 p.m.  I think it has a lot of nerve passing by so fast!

Now I'm heading for the haystack.  Tomorrow will be an early one because Cooper will show his face around 6:45 tomorrow and the rest of him will be hopping around behind his face!  Sleep peacefully everyfriend and wake to a whole new day!  But be careful it doesn't get by you before you notice!

GOOD NIGHT!

This is a quickie Good Morning to AMY and anyone else who shows up this morning.  Cooper is here, had his breakfast, a walk and a treat and is now resting up from the walk.

It's foggy out there.  The typical beginning of a a Fall day around here.  But the high temp is predicted to reach 80 but only for about an hour in the late afternoon.  That's typical Fall around here, too.

I live a little less than a mile (as the crow flies) from the local high school and this morning we had band music to accompany our walk.  It's kind of fun to do that!

Now I'm off to the kitchen to peel apples.  I'm making one more batch (5 half-pint jars) of our special Coffee Apple Jam and then a batch of Cranberry Apple jam.  That one's a new one I'm going to try.  So here I go to peel mor apples.  And then my tomatoes are coming ripe.  Haven't figured out what to do with them yet. I'll have to check and see what I'm low on!

I wish Everyfriend a great day.  Make it your own in every way!

Good morning, 37 and sunny today in the Interior. After throwing up several times Monday night, Farrah was feverish, with no interest in food, water, or much else all day Tuesday before being better in the evening. Today, she ate a small amount, more liquid than solid, and used her box, so she's on the mend. You do worry about them because they can't vocalize how they feel.

Nothing new here except Microsoft attempted one of their scams yesterday, trying to get me to pay a monthly fee for One Drive memory as "I had used 93% of my available "free" One Drive memory." Since I did not purposely use One Drive and you can not delete it, I checked on what they had and deleted everything. I do not like their so-called helpful services and will not pay for something I never authorized or used.

I am here Jane! :hello:

Been a tad busy with delivering a quilt, doing laundry and getting things ready for tomorrow.. The family of crows stopped by to have a buffet and then it was just Larry,Curly and Moe . Had tea out on the porch and now supper to deal with. I bought a cottage roll, haven't had one in a long time so I hope it is as good as I remember fresh dug potatoes and a vegetable should top it off nicely.

Patricia, good to hear Farrah is on the mend, they can't "speak" but we do know when our furkids are not feeling well.

Glad to see there are still some people around!  Also glad to hear Farrah is feeling better.  I hope she's even better tomorrow!

AMY, you got a lot done!  I did another small batch of Coffee Apple Jam and that's about all I got done today.  A bit of laundry, some rearranging, picked a few more tomatoes, took Cooper for a couple walks, arranged a trash pickup for this week.  Spent some time talking with Frankie while she waited for Cooper to be finished at the "dog hair cuttery".  Then after she left, I took a walk.  Now I'm going to get some supper and get set up to make Cranberry Apple Relish tomorrow.  I think I'm going to need to rent a family to eat up all this stuff I'm making.  Any ideas what to do with the tomatoes as the keep ripening?  Other than just eating them as fast as I can?

Back to the kitchen...need to figure out what to have for supper....besides tomatoes!

Fire-roasted tomatoes go with any meat or vegetable dish and can be dried, dehydrated, etc.

Farah's been out a few short times but is mainly sleeping it off.

RICK, if you lived just a bit closer, I'd share with you!

Now I'm heading for the haystack because tomorrow will be a busy day!  Cooper arrives at 6:45 and the day takes off!

RICK, I told those tomatoes if they didn't get in those jars, seal themselves and get back on the storage shelf, they'd end up in the dump!  I guess they chose the best way!

AMY, I have some tomato jam and it's pretty good on a piece of bread with cheese and some Canadian hot mustard for lunch.  I also copied that Fire Roasted Tomato recipe yesterday and I'm thinking about it.  I'm finishing off the apples today.  I just took 6 half-pints of Apple Cranberry Relish out of the canner to cool.  I also have some that didn't fill a jar that I'm going to eat with my lunch.

Gotta get back to work!  Have to empty the wastebaskets and get the trash can ready to put out before I hit the hay tonight.

Good morning EVERYFRIEND 💐

It is feeling very "fallish" around here.

I got my bursa shot yesterday as planned and it went great‼️ No way was it as uncomfortable as the lower back ones, so I was a happy camper‼️  This morning I am feeling like I do think it helped. 🤞🤞🤞🤞

PATRICIA, happy to read that Farrah is showing signs that she is feeling better🙏🙏

JANE, I wish I could be in line for your ripened tomatoes‼️ Heck, I would like to try every single thing that you can and make‼️‼️ We have a high school not too far from us and around this time of the year we get treated to hearing and watching them as they pass by on the road behind us.  I get sentimental seeing and hearing them.  I was in the high school band and played the snare drum.  I often say that some of my aches and pains may have come from carrying that drum as we marched the ENTIRE way around the Indy 500 track‼️. In those days we did not have the fancy things to hold the drum in place so it banged against my left leg on every step I took.  It took months for the bruises to go away......but what a wonderful expierence😘 Ah, sweet memories 😻

I love fire roasted tomatoes and often use canned ones by choice.  They have such a wonderful flavor.

AMY,  sorry to read Babe has to go back to the vet but hopefully she is getting better.  I had to chuckle at her spreading out good to be comfortable in bed.....I am one that does not want to move my legs as I don't want to disturb them‼️‼️

Hurricane Lee is causing us some concern as the timing of its arrival around Boston is at the same time we are due to land.  Nothing we can do about it🤷

We will have Dr. Dave's doggies tonight and tomorrow as well as the responsibilities of helping out with grands to and from school and dance. We will do it again the day after our arrival home from Boston😻

Guess I better get a move on......things to take care of are calling my name.

Have a good day.

Jenn

Good morning, 39, and cool here in the Interior; at 7:14, the sun is just beginning to make an appearance over the horizon.

Amy that is a good recipe for fire-roasted; you only need to remember to use a meatier tomato. It's an excellent way to preserve your tomatoes. Jane, I found four ways to roast your tomatoes. I use a cast iron grill pan, but an oven sounds easier.

https://www.allrecipes.com/article/how-make-roasted-tomatoes-4-easy-ways/

There is nothing on today's calendar after some chores. Farrah is almost back to her old self today, and the city is wrapping up the end of this year's construction by digging up and making a roundabout at the end of my street, less than a quarter of a block from my window. There are only two years left in their ten-year plan to revamp the city, and we won't know what to do without those giant cranes and trucks laboring around us.

Good morning, Jenny; you are another one who rarely seems not to be sitting still.

Time to think about the haystack!  I sure hope the animals left room for me!  I'm tired right down to my toenails!  I never realized how tired our toenails can get!

AMY, the Coffee Apple Jam is just right as far as I'm concerned but I still don't have granddaughter Courtney's opinion.  She's the one that wanted it and I won't see her until Thanksgiving!

The Cranberry Apple relish is also great and so is the applesauce.  And I'm finished with apples except to eat all this stuff!  Applesauce for breakfast tomorrow morning!

Tomorrow morning when Cooper gets here, he'll be staying for a week!  Frankie is leaving right after work to go to her mother's in Frederick, MD and then she gets a plane for Mexico at 5:30 Saturday morning!  Her birthday is the 19th and her brother who lives in Mexico has his birthday on the 21st.  It's a big one for both of them and they decided they needed to spend it together!

Now I'm going to hit the hay!  I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow!

Right now the temperature is 60degrees heading for an overnight low of 53!

Good morning...
Very foggy this morning..not sure if we were hit with frost or not. Hope no as our Morning Glories are loaded with lots of buds yet to bloom.

My pace will be slow and steady today..I am up but my attem was smart enough to stay bed.

Jane, I am going to send that recipe onto Bri. She may be done canning potatoes and might want to try this. You and Cooper had better come to an understanding on who gets what part of the bed! These guys have yet to understand that part.

Patricia, thank you for giving us the heads up on the wonderful news.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who shows up today!

AMY, I don't know if Cooper has made up his mind about who sleeps where but I don't move for him.  He is a snuggler though!  He seems to need to touch whoever he's sleeping with somewhere...usually top to middle!

Today, I'm thinking what to do with the tomatoes and I've almost decided to turn them into juice.  I do like tomato juice and I can do it as the tomatoes ripen and freeze the results as I go and then get it out and can it when I think there's a canner full!

I hope Bri likes the recipe.  I'm thinking you mean the Coffee Apple one?

Gotta get started.  It's foggy and cold outside....right now only 52 degrees and only heading for a high in the low 70s.  Make today a good one!

Good morning, it's 38 degrees here and dark. Our highs this month will be in the low fifties and less light daily. Farrah is back more or less, still sleeping a lot, but better each day.

She is back to sleeping with me as long as I leave space between the pillow and the wall. She's not a cuddler, so having her close is her version of cuddling. Her past has left her with trust issues, and she will still jerk back if you reach suddenly. I'm the only one she trusts, and will hide if anyone comes in. Alan and Dora were the only ones she ever stayed out with.

Our trees and other greenery have shown some color, only russets, and yellows, but it's inevitable now with less light and warmth. We're still having periods of heavy rain.

Today will be another day of basic chores; our morning meet and greets have gotten smaller as we lost one in hospice and added one. Alan and Dora no longer participate, and visiting is hard for them.

It has cooled down considerably here. Yesterday morning when I got up it was 55o. This morning it is 50o. Yesterday was fine, but this morning my back is a bit achy. The temp here is up to 51 degrees heading for a high of 77 but it started out at 46 when I got up.  Cooper and I just got back from his walk and it was chilly out there!

Today will be a sad one!  One of my best, long-time friends passed away and her funeral is today!  Her husband was a year ahead of me in school and he was one of the nice ones.  When they married, they built a home catty-cornered across the street from mine and they had a daughter the same age as my second one.  They grew up together and they are still friends!  It's hard to see Lena May leave us! her funeral is this afternoon and Cathy and I are going!

I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Good morning; nothing new here other than the lows will drop again starting tomorrow. Today will be a repeat of yesterday, other than a trip for groceries and coffee with a friend. Our meets and greets have lost three members, so our numbers are drindling.

Many folks are doing their winter hunting, and gardens have been pulled and put to bed. Some have given up hunting after moving to town so things are in flux.

Amy, Farrah is spending her time closer to me than usual, and I've given her smaller meals throughout the day instead of her usual morning meal. This morning, she wanted more, so tomorrow it will be back to regular mealtimes. She does always have dry available which she treats as a last resort.

I woke up to 49o this morning. In the house, now, is is 68. I haven't put the heat on yet. Oscar has been trying to stay close to my lap. He does not care for the chill. He will stay out on the porch in stifling heat in the summer rather than be in the cool air conditioning. Shan, on the other hand, prefers the air conditioning.

Other than that, I haven't much to contribute today. Just doing some housework and finding a few more things to put out for the trash.

Good Afternoon Everyfriend!  I got up and fed Cooper and took him for a walk, checked out my email and then took a shower and got ready for church.  Cathy was very early to pick me up because she says there's still a smell when she comes in the door.  She brought two bottles of stuff that can be sprayed on anything and a candle which I made her take home.  I have candles.

When I got to church, I approached two friend that I knew would tell me the truth and asked them if they smelled skunk on me.  The guy leaned in and took a good whiff and swore there was no odor.  The other one was a friend who often brings me home after church and I knew if I had an odor, she'd find some reason not to transport me in her new car.  I asked her point blank on the way home and she said an emphatic "NO".  We've decided that it's coming from the neighbors because it's only on that side of the house.

You all don't smell any skunks, do you!

The temp started out at 49 here this morning and will only reach a high of 61!  That's typical Fall weather in this area!

I better think about getting busy around here or nothing will get done.  Oh well, what's wrong with that idea?  Nothing is better than worrying...right!

I wish you all a good day and no skunks!

Amy, thank you so much for noticing!!!!

Sorry, but I just don't see any point in posting if I have nothing to say about the subjects that most of you post about day after day.

The last couple of weeks in August in my life were taken up with 1) discovering I had a hairline fracture in an ankle bone and having to wear a big heavy klonky boot, 2) after all the blood work at my annual physical was perfectly normal, the urine test showed I had an infection and I had to take two pills a day for a week, and 3) granddaughter Emily's wedding was the weekend just after I finished the meds (which made me feel "weird" but worked) and just before my follow up appointment for the fracture (it was completely healed)
I had a great time at the wedding; I used a wheelchair and did NOT wear the klonky boot!!!!

So far this month, I have felt 100% better and have been catching up on Domestic Duties and other activities.

And that's what's going on in my life.

Well, Callie, if we're all going to post about the same stuff we might as well not post at all.  You do some pretty interesting things and it makes for some contrast in the posting.  PLEASE, don't leave us!  Come in a make a difference!

I bet the wedding was beautiful!  And I know that having you there was special to Emily!

I'm going to go to bed a bit early again tonight.  I'm not sure what I did to make me so tired but the day just sort of zipped by!  We had rain from the time we stepped out of church and it's still raining.  Cooper and I took two walks in the rain.  As we were going out the door at church, Judy said "It's supposed to rain today but it hasn't started yet."  We took about 3 steps and we said together, "Oh yes it did start!"

And it's still going!  And I'm going...to the haystack in a few minutes!  I'm going to wait for Cooper to dry off from his last "outie" and I'm going to put a few things back in place and get my jammies on and that will be the end of my day.  I wish you all a peaceful night and a good tomorrow!

Good morning..

We were blessed with rain during the night, one less job for me to do today!
Taking garbage away and then hom to get a quilt ready for delivery  and hope to finish off the one I am doing.

Jane, I am with you on going to bed early, I try to stay up as long as I can for the dogs last outing then we all hit the hay.

Callie, a  :hello:   or a  :walkwhistle:  :winkie:   :tease:  :yikes:  is fine, just as long as you are fine. :) Feeling 100% better is a bonus! And as Jane said making Emily's special day more so by being there.

Patricia, how is Farrah? I did cook that roast of beef and will deal with it later today vacuum sealing some for the freezer.

Rick,Sso far no frost here but we do know it is coming. Mentioned to the neighbour yesterday that I will check with the folks  to see when the snowblower can be taken in for an overhall. Yes, that too is coming. :snowball:

Better get ready for the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Callie, I feel the same way you do. With the advancing of age the physical restrictions increase and I begin to have different concerns from the "younger" people who post here regularly.  Most of my meal planning is done by ordering over the computer from the grocery store, prepared meals from Schwann/Yelloh that are delivered to my door and a few fresh items that are delivered to me (mostly fresh fruit, a few fresh salad vegs., bread and a few other pastries that sound good from Papa Spuds.  Other than occasionally slicing and pickling a few cucumbers I do very little in food preparation.  That makes it difficult to have a discussion with someone else who hasn't gotten to that stage yet.  But, I thankfully still have a brain left and I am always interested in what is going on in some else's life.  So, please keep talking to us about whatever is happening in your life because I really love to hear whatever you are up to and I will attempt to respond from time to time.....when I remember.   ;D

To all of you, Good morning!  It is a beautiful day here.  The laundry is going, the sun is shining and I'm managing to get around if everyone is patient and has a lot of time to wait on me.   ;)

Take care, All.            Autumn Beauty.jpg

PHYLLIS, I love it when you post!  It lets me know that life can still be good even when I don't do all this stuff any more.  And that time is coming...or maybe it isn't.  Maybe I'll be gone and not worrying about what's getting done and what isn't.  But I love hearing from you and knowing that if I AM still around in my 90s, I can still be enjoying life!  Keep on keeping on!

I used to do Schwan's but their prices got so outrageously high, I decided some of the stuff I can actually make on my own (when I get in the cooking mode)!  Their Chinese dumplings are one thing I can't make, but loved theirs. Only problem, I could eat the entire package, which is not cost effective! I've been sitting on the fence so to speak about having groceries delivered.  While I'm still able to drive and handle walking around the store, guess I might put that off a bit longer. What is Yallo?

Got an early morning call (well, 9:15) from the adult daughter of a guy I used to work for!  She's a few years older than my girls.  They were flower girls at her wedding.  Her family was always so nice to our family, invited us to Christmas at their house, gave nice gifts to girls.  One by one, the grandparents passed, then the Dad.  The mom was last to go.  This gal is a real riot, you can't quit laughing on the phone long enough to make the conversation follow.  It was sure nice to hear from her.  Said she thought about me, and just wanted to check that I was doing all right! Even though I am several years older, she has been through enough health problems (and recovered) to make me feel ashamed.  Gotta keep that gal in my prayers!

Schwan's is changing their name to Yelloh.  And I agree that they are pricey but I stick to the lower price items and only  buy 2 or 3 items for the freezer every now and then. It is still cheaper than moving into a nursing home. ' )

Since all of my friends living along the river or in the foothills and ridges surrounding this city have either moved out of state or into town, we no longer have many of our past social activities. We now have four group members in hospice, meaning only five left participating in our morning meet and greets.

The grocery trips that included lunch and shopping and the bartering system set up over the years have diminished. People are aging out of the long cherished social activities such as Friendsgiving, holiday gatherings, cards, hot springs and river trips, and wildlife sanctuary visits. I'm the youngest of the group and the only one not in the eighties or older. Last winter was a changing catalyst.

So, that's a long way to explain my loss of interesting posts. I like to hear about how others are doing and what they're up to, so please keep posting for all of us.

Time to say "Good Night Everyfriend"!  I'm heading for the haystack.  I'm tired from today's activities but aside from three walks with Cooper and a visit from Cathy, I couldn't report what I did.  It just sort of came and went.  Paid some bills, answered some emails, looked up some stuff, changed the flags, put some stuff away and threw some stuff away.  What else?  I'm a forgetful old lady!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy tomorrow and I hope your memories are better than mine!

Son/Dil used Schwann's for almost everything during the years they were both working time-consuming jobs and had young children.  I haven't heard them mention it in quite a few years- now that the Grands are grown and gone an son/dil are both retired.  I know son likes to wander through the supermarket and stores like Walgreen's -and I'm sure dil "encourages" him to have some time at home to herself.  ;D

I began ordering groceries delivered when my podiatrist said my feet "condition" had reached a point at which I would have to limit my walking and standing.  I asked him to define "limit" and he said, "No more than 2 hours out of 8".  I told him that wasn't even a good shopping trip to the Mall!!!!!!!

My supermarket uses a delivery company called Shipt.  It's really easy to order on-line and the "shoppers" are very well-trained.  They text or call (your choice) when they begin and keep in touch while they're doing your shopping. You choose the time (for instance, between 1:00 and 2:00) for delivery and they let you know when they're checking out and when they're on the way.  When they arrive, they place bags where you've chosen (they will bring them into kitchen) in a friendly fashion...and then leave!  No chit-chatting!
Newstime and I want to see what time frame my area is supposed to get rain/wind/hail/etc. etc. tomorrow.
Sleep well, Everyfriend and have pleasant dreams.

Good morning.

Another cool morning to start,no frost yet! We are off to the vet this afternoon for a check up on Babe. I have some items to pick up in town plus pay a bill.

I enjoy ready what others have been up to plus read about different weather patterns. Must admit though, it would scare the dickens out of me if I lived in a tornado/hurricane area. I will stick with the snow and ice.

Jane has the skunk smell disapated? I remember when Sassy got sprayed,I did get her bathed before we went to work though. We needed to pick up lumber at the store and while standing there ordering I heard one person say...hmm a skuck must have got hit on the road. Kyle and I never said a word but hurried up got our lumber and headed to the job site. We couldn't smell it but others could. :2funny:

Callie, walking is also a problem for hubby, he will try and do a bit of work in the shop but will come in and lay down for a while. As for shopping these huge stores really tire him out. I wish they had areas for one to sit a moment .

Phyllis, I think we all would like to be able to do what we used to. I really dislike trying to get lids off of jars ,  or off of medice bottles. Some I can use a gadget my friend gave me, others I put under hot water and others I just :knuppel2:

Crows are hollering, they are also flocking/grouping up to head south. There were 7 Mourning doves earlier eatingt not it is crow time.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

I've been using Giant Direct for a year now and just love it. Between that and a few regular online orders, it sure helps not having to cart heavy cat litter boxes very far. Of course, the downside is that I don't get as much walking exercise as I used to.

Off and on, I have been doing some sorting out to get rid of more unused stuff and general decluttering. The tree service has not yet come to cut down the big pine. My sister's tree service is backed up too. They told her it would be a month or more before they can get to her. I expect mine is pretty busy too. Guess I should call and see where I am on the schedule. My real estate agent was over last week to take a look at the house, and I have narrowed down apartment choices. I have not yet made any commitments.

I think there is a possum under my front porch, settling in for the winter. Last week I put a bag of used cat litter out on the porch to take out to the curb the next morning. When I went to move it the next morning, it was gone, and cat litter was strewn all over my side porch. This is the second time something took a plastic bag and left its contents strewn about in the last 8 weeks or so. This first was a big yard bad of yard waste. Every fall for the last several years, something has been settling in under the porch to hibernate. I suspected a possum, but never saw it. My neighbor told me yesterday she saw one in her yard the other day, so that pretty much confirms it. She had been pitching veggies out in her side yard all summer for critters, but I never saw what took them. Fine by me. Possums will eat ticks and all manner of other things. They are not picky. But plastic bags? Getting nesting material?

MarsGal are these critters a pest, are they destructive? I know we have them in the southern part of Canada but haven't seen any up here in the north. They do eat a lot of the bad bugs, ticks cockroaches slugs  but cute they are not!!
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe September 1 , 2023

I see possums going through the woods behind my house but they never come up near the house....at least, not yet.  As for squirrels and raccoons, it is a different story.  They are very destructive and I have receipts in the thousands of dollars paid to prove that.  But, after a very long time of removal, sealing and repair of siding, soffits, etc. and screening of more than 15 chewed entries into my attic, they are apparently gone.....I hope and pray!

I used to feed the birds and the wildlife but I no longer do that.  I loved watching the birds at the feeders but the feeders also call unwanted critters that damage my property and bring disease.  Our state wildlife commission has begged people not to feed the birds because of the diseases they can bring to other species and that spread among the bird population.

On that happy note I will say, "Make it a good day, All."   :)

Good morning; another rainy day in the Interior at 35 now and going to 50 this afternoon. The reds and russets in the trees and greenery have blossomed into bright yellows, while everything else looks worn out. Traditionally, our first snow hits about Halloween, but we've been surprised at times in the middle part of the month.

Farrah is fine. For a few days, she ate to make up and slept more, but now she's back to old habits.

My sister finished upgrading and refurbishing her house this year and now has several trips planned to Portland and Seattle to visit friends and, as she puts it, to get some culture in. Her daughter and son-in-law live a few blocks away, and her daughter is afraid her mother will move back to that area, and she's against the idea.

I don't think possums are much of a problem, Amy. The critters will eat just about anything, but I have never heard anyone call them destructive. They are scavengers and opportunists. They do not make their own burrows, or chew through boarding to get into houses. They do use abandoned burrows and I suppose that if there were holes in a house big enough, they could get in. They like being in the dark. What I didn't know is that there are people who keep them as pets. I think that although they do not carry rabies, there are diseases that we can get that they carry. They are listed at the bottom of this interesting article. https://usatales.com/guide-about-possums/

We came home from the vet with more meds to give Babe....and to a house without power. Generator is running at the moment and they say it will be back on by 5 pm.

Received this message ..

Dear Amy,

My wife is currently in the hospital and has been for the past four days. We have also been having troubles using the site as we did before. The options for replying specifically were not where we expected them to be and it is making the site very hard for us to use. We have taken the laptop into a repair shop to get looked at and they are the ones writing this out to you.

We have found that the browser version is Google Chrome Version 117.0.5938.89 and we have also tried verifying the OS updates but at the moment it is stuck attempting to intall 22H2. We do not know whether the issue Lloyd is experiencing on this site is one we are able to resolve without your help.

We are going to be getting this computer looked at for other reasons physically but we would like your assistance finding the root of the issue.

I do not know what 22H2 is but told them I would try to help out.

Hi Everyfriend!  It's been "one of THOSE days"!  I've bee moving from one job to another and trying to put things together and this is my first break.

AMY, was that message in reference to LLOYD?

I see you've all bee discussing possums!  Around here, we're discussing minks!  There's a farm about 30 miles from here that raises them and someone cut holes in the fences and encouraged them to get out where the owners couldn't see.  There are upwards of 6000 minks wandering the hills around the farm where they were being raised.  So far, people have managed to collect about 100 of them to return to the farm and another 100 of them have been found dead on the roads.  The article says that they usually live in about a 3 to 4 mile area so I doubt if any of them will show up here!  What makes people do things like that?  Even if I didn't agree with what was being done, I don't think I'd be able to set the animals loose where they could be killed needlessly!

I'm pretty sure I won't be back in tonight so I wish you all a good night!  Take care of you and yours!

Patricia, thank you.I hope they can get Lloyd's laptop up and running right for him.

Jane, yes,Nancy is in the hosptal and Lloyd had the folks at the repair shop send this message.
I can understand not wanting those mink caged but what they did by cutting the fence is worse. Those an8mals were fed and now have to fend for themselves and as you said some didn't fair too well. If the demand for fur coats would stop so would the mink farms. A mink coat looks best on a mink!

Jane, I knew there was something I wanted to ask you, but I got distracted (easy to do) and forgot about it. My sister told me about the minks, only I think she said 7000 or 8000 got loose. Has any group claimed responsibility in order to make a statement about animal cruelty? I didn't know we had any mink farms in PA, but I guess they keep a low profile. Let us know if they catch the perpetrator(s).

This is the second time I ordered cat litter from Amazon and it has been "delayed" after already being out for delivery. Both times they kept adjusting the arrival time later until it was up to 10PM. I just think whoever the driver just didn't want to be delivering a heavy box of litter after dark.

Sorry to hear Lloyd's Nancy being in hospital and his current computer problems. I hope both situations greatly improve soon. Bad enough to deal with one stressful situation without having other problems crop up to complicate things.

Good Morning from Central PA!  Not much exciting happening here.  They are still tracking minks who are on the loose.  I haven't read the paper yet to see how many more might have been returned.  I'll have to check that.

MARSGAL, the guy that owns the farm was interviewed by the newspaper and he said "about 6000 got out".  That's all I know about the number.  He said the same thing to the TV interviewer that I saw on the news last night. I'll check the paper when I finish here and see if he changed that.

Cooper and I had our walk and our breakfast and we emptied out the dishwasher.  He went out in the front yard and did a little barking at the neighbor doggies and now he's taking a nap.  They do have a difficult life, don't they!

I have a few odd jobs to take care of today but nothing that's yelling at me to get done!

I'm so sorry to hear that LLOYD'S Nancy is in the hospital.  I hope they are taking good care of her and that she's able to go home soon.

You all have a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

Callie, the vision of these two ladies shaking their "bootie" had me in a fit of giggles.......and envy.  The two old folks that live in this house  and said no more wood to burn fibbed!! We got thinking and if the winter is as bad as they say we can use it to back up the oil. We stopped at a wood lot and lo and behold it was owned by a man that had brought us wood years ago!! After the hugs and handshakes ( I got the hugs :smitten: ) We ordered a face cord and a half. Kyle outfitted the van with plywood and so far we have one facecord home and will get the other 1/2 tomorrow. We found it much easier working out of the van than picking it up off the ground! Will know better tomorrow just what our bodies thought of it..

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Still don't have a frost here yet but we're expecting a majoy rainstorm over the weekend!  The tomatoes are still ripening on the vine but I've been checking to see what I can do with the ones that will still be green when the frost comes.

Nice to see Gloria's post.  Thanks BUBBLE for helping her out.  I wonder how Nancy is doing?

Better get to work!  The day will be over before I know it!  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!

Good morning..

Another cool morning starting out at 36°.  Thought I would did some potatoes today but that can wait till next week. Will just putter cleaning. We did get all the wood home yesterday and I think that is it for now.

Jane, are you winning out on bed space with Cooper dog?

Patricia, we are losing friends and acquaintances  each week it seems.  We need to make the most out of the day, then squeeze it to get a bit more from the day.

Better get going..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Night and Good Morning!  I just noticed that I didn't check out last night.  I was really tired and ready to crawl into the haystack.

AMY, I have to move hime into his spot when I'm ready to get in bed.  He tends to take his "half" right out of the middle and for a little doggie, he sure does take up space!  When I get in, I have to establish my half before he cuddles.

Frankie will be home on Saturday night but will not pick up Cooper until sometime Sunday.  She's going to a tired traveller!

Better go get started on the chores!  Lots to do today!  I wish you all a good day...better than yesterday but not as good as tomorrow!

To those that are cashing in for the day, --- goodnight.

We will just tickle the 70°s today.  Same ol Sat chores with laundry to to do. Will see what ever comes along and it may or may not get done.

Jane, thank you, love choco chip cookies!! Had a couple with a tall glass of cold milk. Perfect snack!

Patricia, these past mornings we have had fog. I am not a fan of driving in it .

Better get the day on the go.

Good Morning to Everyfriend who pokes around in here today.  You are welcome for the cookies.  Eat 'em up!

We're supposed to get heavy rain with some wind all day.  I think it's fallout from the storm that's hitting the coastal areas.  But Cooper and I got our first walk in before it started!  So our day if off and moving!

I'm not sure what's up my alley today!  I guess whatever pokes it's head up will get some attention!  Make your day whatever you want it to be!

Just have one trug left of potatoes to dig, tops are still green so will wait till they die down, parsnips will stay in the trug till they get a wee frost to sweeten them up. Maybe, just maybe I will can potatoes this coming week.

I'm off to the haystack and I can't tell you what I did today because aside from letting Cooper take me for a couple of walks, I don't really know what I did today!  It rained off and on all day but not hard like the weather reports were threatening us!

Good night! Sweet dreams! Happy tomorrow!

I'm heading for the haystack about now!  Cooper went home and I stripped the bed and the covers off the sofa and my last load is in the dryer right now!  I'm going to leave it there until I get up.

Cooper will be back tomorrow morning at 6:45 because Frankie has to be at work at 7!  But she'll be picking him up about 3:45.  I won't have him overnight any more unless Frankie gets some later hours to work.

Good night!  Sleep tight!  Wake to a new day!

Good Rainy Morning to Everyfriend!  I'm hoping for the rain to end and some wind to come and dry things off today.  We had a neighborhood skunk right before the rain and his odor is still hanging around!

Cooper went home with him Mommy last night and is back this morning when she went to work.  He's had his breakfast (so did I).  He had his walk (so did I) and now he's sleeping (I rather wish I was, too).

I've decided what to do with the tomato juice I've been collecting.  I'm going to turn it into tomato sauce for cooking spaghetti sauce.  I have another batch of tomatoes to cook down today and probably another one tomorrow.  I'm hoping that we don't get a frost before a bunch more ripen.

Christy will be coming up sometime in October to spend some time here and she just asked me if I wanted her to bring her carpen cleaner with her.  I said a very emphatic YES!  So I'll be getting all my rugs cleaned while she's here!

And she's going to take me on a grocery shopping trip.  Shopping with her is easier than shopping with Cathy.  I have to have a list and stick to it with Cathy.  With Christy, I can SHOP!

RICK, it's still soggy here, too!

I guess I better get busy or I won't get anything done!  Have a great day!  Do whatever pleases you!

Oh my goodness!  Poor NANCY!  I hope she gets lots of rest and tender loving care!  And I hope she starts to feel better VERY SOON!

I've been washing everything in sight trying to fight the skunk smell and I think I've done it on everything except Cooper.  He had one of those chemical baths but Frankie was afraide to put it on his head and around his eyes!  So he still has a slight scent.  I can't smell it but Frankie can.

I'm going to keep NANCY in my prayers so she'll soon feel better, I hope!

The rest of you, TAKE CARE OF YOU!

Good morning..

I can hear a crow calling but I think Larry, Curly and Moe (crows) have moved on. I could count on them coming twice a day for the bird buffet but haven't seen them in a couple of days.

Today the neighbour is taking our lawnmower in for a tune up and get it ready for next year. I am going to be making baked beans and canning them...that should do my day in and likely me too! A couple of batches cooked in the IP then canned should do us most of the winter.

Jane, have fun with Cooper doggie.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Cooper arrived on time, had his breakfast and then took me for a walk.  We had nose-to-nose greetings with 3 friend doggies and a visitor this morning.  He has to say "hello" to anything in fur or on two feet as we proceed!

I have tomatoes on the stove cooking down to make sauce to can.  Don't know if it will get canned today because Cathy is making a trip to the Amish Grocer today and I'm going with her.  I don't need a lot of stuff but I love going there!  Trying to think of something to throw in the crock pot to have for supper.  Any ideas?

Gotta get moving!  Enjoy your day, Everyfriend!  It's all yours!

Good morning, 27, and clear outside at 7:41 a.m. Clear skies are not ideal this time of year as the heat escapes and temperatures dive while a cloudy day holds the heat in.

I have two downtown appointments this morning and plan to meet some friends for shopping and lunch. This morning's meet and greets were sparsely attended, and while I hope I'm wrong, it may be on its way out as the hill folks and ridge runners are now either townies or moved to be with other families elsewhere.

I looked at some air fryers yesterday while browsing and realized that I don't need one, and using one would only lessen some of the few activities that keep me moving. For that same reason, I chop my onions, peppers, carrots, and potatoes in small quantities instead of preparing large batches.

I wouldn't mind a small apartment-sized dog to keep me getting out for more company and exercise, and judging by Farrah's reactions at the vets; she wouldn't be afraid or aggressive. The last time we were there, a boxer mix came sniffing around her carrier, and she turned her back on him. Yesterday, I looked at Animal Control's website, but all they had were huskies.

However, only one pet, 20 pounds and under, is allowed here.

Well, I blew all thoughs on the sauce!  I threw a jar of canned hamburger in it, added some spices and other stuff and made spaghetti sauce out of it.  I had spaghetti for supper and I have 3 quarts of sauce left.  I'm thinking I might just cand the sauce tomorrow and then all I have to do is open it and dump some on some fresh cooked spaghetti when I feel like having it.

On the way to the Amish store, we stopped at an Amish farm that has a fress picked vegetable and flower stand.  I got a pumpkin, a head of broccoli, a cucumber and something else that forget.  Then we headed for Wengers and I got the stuff on my list and more!

Tomorrow, I'm going to make Cooper some peanut butter and banana doggie treats and clean the pumpkin and get it ready to do a pie.  I'll also cut up some of the cucumber with one of the yellow tomatoes tha a neighbor gave me and have that for my lunch.

Now I'm going to go see if my eyes close when I lie down on the bed.  My body is tired but sometimes my eyes don't cooperate!  I hope you all sleep well and wake to a happy day.  We are NOT supposed to have rain tomorrow.  I guess we shall see!  The last few days have been sloppy all the way up to my knees!

Good Night!  Sleep tight!  That's what my Gramma used to say to us but I'm not adding the next line that she used!

Good morning...

Another busy day in the making, will do up two more batches of baked beans and can them, might as well make a canner full. The jars from yesterday will get clean and labeled....I want to put "wind at my back" on the label instead of baked beans. :)

Patricia, hope your appointments went well and you enjoyed meeting up with your friends.

Gonna be a busy day!  I better get started.  Gonna be a busy one for you too, AMY!  And I bet you're already started!

Rick it's up to 59 degrees here right now and heading for a high of 68.  Regular Fall weather!

My doggie cookies are all made and I put a couple in the fridge in this kitchen.  If you have a doggie, take one and treat him/her!

My pumpkin is cleaned and cooking and Cathy is picking me up to go to the Farmers Market in about a half hour!  I'm going to have to bring the Cooper-Snoop in before we go.  My grass is getting cut today and I'm sure he'll spend most of his time telling off the mower!

Not too many more days when Cooper will be able to hang around outside all day.  Sometimes, I wonder if that's what he likes best over here and I come in second!

Keep on keeping on!

Good late morning, I'm getting a late start today. The weather outside is frosty and 31 presently. The trees are all in color, and the leaves haven't been shed. There's a hush outside and, in this building, an expectant hush while we wait.

Amy, my appointments went well; an end-of-the-year summary of various facts and figures is necessary, but no surprises.

The lunches went well for the most part; both ladies were sad not having the end of the year closeout and putting the land to bed that they had done in the past. They're looking for new hobbies or activities to keep them and their husbands busy.

Jane, both Babe :dog2: and Jesse :dog4:  thank you for the cookies.
I am waiting for the pressure to go on the canner to take the jars out. I am done ..no more work today.

Patricia, tis difficult to go from an active life and try to take it easy. I have a fellow here that doesn't realize that splitting wood is for the younger ones.

I am going to put my feet up!

I'm done for the day, too.  It took me longer than I expected but I have spaghetti sauce ready to can tomorrow and pumpkin ready to make up three pies.  I think I'll make that wait around a bit in the freezer.

I got some goodies at that Farmers Market and I'm expecting a good day tomorrow.  I don't have any Cooper coming so I don't have to set the alarm.  I suspect I'll be awake at the usual time!

When I'm finished here, I'm going to watch a "Perry Mason" show and then close down and head for the haystack!  I'm aiming for 9 o'clock.  Let's see if I can do it!

Finish off your day however you like and then have a good night!  See ya tomorrow!

Clean up and labeling the jars from yesterday will have to wait till later.

Jane, did you use crooked neck or a pie pumpkin? Nice that you can rest (I doubt you will) today.:)

Good Morning AMY and anyone else who shows up today!

I'm up and attem!  No Cooper today and the temp was only 47 when I got up! And it's only heading for a high of 69!  Gonna be a typical Fall Day today!

I have everything out to can my spaghetti sauce today and I'm trying to decide if I want to go out and take a walk first to get things on a roll.  I still have to finish my coffee and get dressed so the decision will come when the shoes are on my feet!

AMY, I used a crook neck pumpkin!  I didn't want to have my father standing there shaking his head at my choice!  He's the one who put me onto the crook necks.  I guess he got it from his mother who was a born farm lady!

Have a great day everyfriend!  Make it your own in every way!

Looks like two days of rain and the low 60's.  Most likely Jane's will be similar. Seems our weather follows what she has. We're just a bit East of her. The plumber did his thing yesterday, so now won't be spending time worrying about a pipe breaking . One more thing out of the way   Today, if I get the incentive, I'll start cleaning up the mess he created. He cleaned up, but not to my standard.

Good day - to all who pass through.

Good morning; nothing new here on this cloudy morning at 7:30 and 30 degrees. Our high will only be 43. Amy, our weekend will have warmer highs and some rain again on Monday, which could be snow with these weather conditions.

I plan on making it into town to pick up a few items, but I'm feeling more of a nesting urge, so that may not happen. I did pick up some fluted canning jars last time I was shopping, so I may make some refrigerator jam sometime over the weekend.

I picked up three books, two long-sleeved, knitted tees, a mid-length sweater, and some groceries on Tuesday. I only need a few other items, so I'm debating another trip.

THe day went well!! They took us in early:) and it didn't take the 4 hours that was estimated! Great group of guys and will certainly send business their way. They did put my wallet on a famine diet though. :(

On the way in the drive was relaxing, beautiful coloured leaves more so than what we have here in the north! Of course one has to watch for deer at that time in the morning and we were lucky, they must have been snoozing still. The chipmunk that darted across the road must have heard me saying NO NO NO and he turned back...phew. Then the mink (Janie did one of yours come up here? ) started across the road and thought better of it. I think he threw me a dirty look as I spoiled his trip.....could of been worse!!

I am beat,so resting it is. :)) Work will get done tomorrow..

I found this and couldn't help but send it to my son..

When I'm An Old Lady
by Joanne Bailey Baxter
When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

I'll write on the walls with reds, whites, and blues,
And bounce on the furniture.....wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they'll snap their fingers and then shake their head,
And when that is done, I'll hide under the bed.
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat.
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry...I'll run....if I'm able!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

I'll sit close to the TV., through the channels I'll click
I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud 'til the end of the day!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids...)

And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"

Hey there my friends!  I'm finished for the day!  I have a brand new casserole in the oven for my supper.  It uses a little of my pumpkin that I cooked yesterday.  I'll let you know how it tastes.

RICK, we're supposed to have a little rain tomorrow but not until after 3 p.m.  I think maybe you follow us with the weather.  This is the first nice day we've had in over a week!

AMY, I don't think our local minks made it to your area.  The internet says they're only good for 3 to 5 miles from where they are born.  They'd have to have wings to get to you!  And most of the ones that have been returned have been picked up very close to home.  I sure hope they find the people who opened the gates for them.

I'm going to loaf the rest of the day.  Tomorrow will be a "Cooper day".  That adds steps whether you want them or not.  If he's in the house, he follows just about every step I take and sits and stares at me when I eat!  I've taught him to stop begging vocally but his eyes can't stop!

I put some more cookies in the cookie bin in the SS.  Help yourselves!  Eat 'em up!

Well, Jane, and whoever else had a busy day.  I started my most unfavorite chore: Changing the linens.  The Kingsize bed really poses a problem for me anymore.  But, must needs, as they say. I took all the sheets and coverlet off, washed, dried, re-installed on the bed, and it looks so inviting, I may have to go there early.  My legs feel like I have run a half-marathon, but I walked most of my 10,000 steps, and my feet hurt.  Did breakfast and lunch, but supper will have to go by the wayside for tonight.  Don't feel up to cooking anything and had a sandwich for lunch.
So bye for now, hope I'll see you all tomorrow, telling tales of derring-do and wild adventures.

I finally got home after shopping my usual way. I found some of my listed items, forgot about others, and purchased three inviting magazines. "Learn to Beat Inflammation, Meal Planning, and Life Hacks.

I found a minimal 2024 planner without all the bells and whistles, which is how I prefer them, and found a few items to consider by roaming the mall for an hour or two. My mom was the same way; she loved to look around before maybe or maybe not buying, and so do I. Sometimes, I return to purchase something I looked at a week or weeks ago and go in an entirely different direction.

There is one paper that I needed some questions/answers. I received it in today's mail, the 28th. It needed to be turned in before September 30th to be on file. However, the instructions were to not sign it until after October 1st! And, of course, the man I needed to talk to is out until Tuesday!

Good morning.

Cooler day today, temp won't get to tickle the 70's.

I am off to the garage for an oil change, then home to try and catch up on work left from the past two days. Does one ever catch up? The phrase the hurrier I go, the behinder I get, comes in to mind.

Patricia,have you heard about curcumin?

Better get rady to meet the day, rather snuggle back down in bed for a while but things won't get done if I do.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning to Anyone and Everyone!  I'm up and attem!  I woke up a little before 5 this morning and tried to go back to sleep.  I gave up at 5:30 and got up and put the coffee on and washed my hair with the special shampoo.

Now Cooper has arrived, had his breakfast, took me for a nice, long walk and took care of business!  He said hello to all his doggie friends on the way and to some of his people friends, too.  Now I'm here with no plans for the day.

My Son and DIL have promised fresh pumpkin pies for something that's going on in their lives on Sunday and were checking on my recipe yesterday.  Back when my son lived in his own apartment alone, he used to make these pies but was checking some things.  I'm thinking I might call him and offer to bake some for them.  I think they've really volunteered a lot!  I don't really remember how many Sarah actually said but a LOT sticks in my mind!

Other than that, the only thing on my agenda is a bit of cleaning and I've reached a place in life where I can ignore the dirt if feel like it!

Make it a good day!  Do what you want to and ignore what you don't want to do!

Almost 10;00 but still looks like night out there. It's been raining hard for a while and about an hour ago got a flood watch warning. Weather report calls for rain until tomorrow noon. The good part is --- it's not snow. Good atmosphere for snoozing.

Still raining HARD. There has been several cases of local flooding and people being rescued out of cars. Somewhere out there my son is trying to get home from the dentist. He just checked in and I warned him of conditions. If he can can make his way to and get started up the hill he should be OK.

Half hour later --- Home safe

HOORAY for RICK's son!  He made it!

RICK that weather you're having now sounds like last week over here!  Please don't send it back over here!  It's still muddy and wet and we got a little more sometime during the night!

Right now I'm waiting for my daughter, Cathy to pick me up for an appointment to get an update on one of our shots.  I forget which one.  But she knows this stuff!  And I have to get a birthday card for Great-Grandson Mikey.  He'll be 3 in a few days!  Never thought I'd even see Great Grandkids and now I'm helping them celebrate birthdays!

Keep on keeping on!  Oh and I did volunteer to help son with the pies.  He's bringing stuff by!

Amy, I have heard of it, and I use Tumeric in just about everything. In soups and stews, it gets liberally dumped on. Osteoarthritis is a guarantee in my family; I have the type that is at its worst in the morning and when the weather is in flux. I saved the link and passed it on to my sister and a cousin.

Speaking of family, my sister reminded me this morning that mom would have been 100 today.

I slept in this morning and snoozed until almost nine. Then it was making coffee, feeding Farah, showering, putting away stuff, and taking the garbage to the dumpster on the curb, as the inside laundry room wall slot is still broken after months. Then there were meet and greets with only three people, and we decided to put that practice to bed; it'd served its purpose.

I loved how autocorrect changed the interesting in my above post to inviting. Yes, I always find inflammation "inviting!"

Jane, I agree! I keep it clean but only do the heavy cleaning every few months. If it smells clean and looks clean...as long as you don't look too close, it's good. I broke down last spring and purchased a battery-operated grout cleaner at the hardware store. It works exceptionally well on other things as well.

Rick, I think I agree!

I'm glad your son made it home. I've seen some videos of that flooding in New York City.

After that brief hot flash at the beginning of last summer, all we had were leaden skies and rain. They're forecasting light rain and snow on Monday, and I hope they're wrong!

Last look at the weather map showed it heading North, toward Albany or New England. Still raining, but lighter. Our Public Services, Police and Fire spent much of their day rescuing people stuck in deep water in their cars. That has to be a hefty expense for those people, but at least they are safe.  We have been called The City Of Seven Hills, and there's room for water collection between all of them - with two smaller rivers passing through.

Hey y'all!  I'm here and I'm heading for the haystack as soon as I check out.

RICK, I saw all that water with stranded cars on the news.  I always wonder what makes people drive their cars into that much water.  It's like driving into a creek or a river and cars weren't meant to do that!

I'm working on something that I'd rather not discuss but it's taking time and energy that would be better spent elsewhere.  I'll be glad when (or if) I manage to get it taken care of!  Wish me luck!

Good night!  I better get back to work before the haystack comes after me!

Good Morning to me and anyone else who pops in!

My chore got finished before I went to bed and I think it's working as usual this morning!

I'm having my breakfast and I won't have any Cooper today so I'm going to do some cooking, cleaning, walking, and maybe bake a pumpkin pie.  Son Phil said "Thanks" but he doesn't think he needs help with his pies and that's sort of why I decided to bake my own.

When you are up and attem, make it a good day in every way!

Good  morning

Back to warmer weather ,we could use the rain but so far nothing in sight.

Work around home today, so nice not to have appointments to go to. If time and energy permit I wil finish cutting out fabric for another quilt. My friend and I are doing the same pattern in almost the same colours.

Rick, no matter how old our children are we always worry about them. Glad that your son made it home safe.

Jane, you do know the saying  "Can't fix stupid" now those that do get stranded in the water will have to be rescued

Patricia, no snow for you or us till the  end of Oct..ok?  I know you will get it before us but wouldn't it be nice to wait till then. We do need the snow on the fields to protect the farmers crops though.

Better get a move on.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Some think "Oh, I'm OK with this", and commence to do something stupid. But some are on limited access roads and get to a point where there is deep water/flooding. There is no way to turn off or around, so they are stuck there as the water rises. We do have one Parkway that historically floods with heavy rain. The County usually gets it shut down in time.

Sorry Amy. Special Weather Statement issued September 29 at 12:49PM AKDT by NWS Fairbanks

...Snowfall Heading to the Eastern Interior and Alaska Range Sunday and Monday...

A mix of rain and snow is expected to develop late Sunday southeast of Livengood, then change to all snow on Monday and then taper off Tuesday. Fairbanks is only expected to get an inch of wet snow by early Tuesday, but areas above 1000 feet could get up to 2 or 3 inches. Areas in the Alaska Range will likely get significant snow through Tuesday with 6 to 12 inches possible in the Eastern Alaska Range (Richardson Highway Corridor) and 2 to 4 inches for the Central Alaska Range (Parks Highway Corridor).

Residents may want to use the nice weather this weekend to prepare their homes and vehicles for winter conditions that are expected to develop next week.

Hello my friends!  I've been busy right up until now.  I just took my pumpkin pie out of the oven and as soon as it's cool enough, I'm having a piece of it!  Other than that and eating supper and getting ready for bed, I have NO plans for the rest of the day.  I've been busy since 6 a.m. and the only time I took off was to read the daily paper!  I'M DONE!

PATRICIA, I sure hope that snow stays far away from me!  You can see, I haven't actually wished it on you.  I just wished it away from me!

We had a beautiful day today!  The temp made it to 75 and it was sunny and calm.  One of those specials He sends us now and then!

Enjoy the rest of your day!  I'm going to do just that!

I, too am done for the day.....coasting here on in till bed time. Laundry off the line, the rest of the beets pulled ready to be done maybe Monday?? I picked up two huge cabbages to make Jane's cole slaw, didn't know they were on sale till I went in the store and picked up peppers to go with it. Thought that I would make it today but slow on apple cider vinegar :( Maybe Mon will be a busy day!

We sat outside having tea watching all the birds making a bee line for the Mountain Ash tree. This tree was loading with berries and now the limbs are sighing with relief as the birds take their heavy load off their limbs.

Patricia, it is ok, it will melt for now.
The curcumin has to be 95% in that to work.

I'm tired tonight but I got a lot of things done today!  And it was a gorgeous day outside...didn't need a jacket or even a sweater!

I'm going to head for the haystack and burrow in until I find a soft spot to sleep and that's what I'm going to do!

I wish you all a good night and a good tomorrow!
