Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Amy, last post I saw from Lloyd was yesterday at 4 a.m. He mentioned he had a Dr.s appt. at the V.A. that day...which would have been Friday. Do we have a place to "search" here in the S.S., I wonder ???????

YES..we have a search, and I used it but found nothing from Lloyd since Friday.
Hope all is well.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Thank you June, maybe he is having computer problems??

Beverly

Hello everyone from sunny Florida!

Joan - I'm so glad you will be leaving there! Maybe now you can get some computer time in.  I cheered when i saw Linda's post on Facebook!  :)

Gloria D - I'm so sorry about your nephew's accident. Have you heard anything today?

With all the storms and flooding Missouri had the other day, it's possible that Lloyd might not have internet connection. Hopefully he'll post in the morning.

Hope you all have a good night.

June Drabek

Good night Beverly and all, I hope it was the rain that kept Lloyd from posting and not his poor health.

I just got back from listening to George Rossi perform in our Fireside room. He is one of my very favorite performers and when he played Sweet Caroline and New York New York, I had to grab my cart and get up and dance. Needless to say, it wore me out. My night time nurse just came to take my B.P. and leave my meds...it was very low, so she didn't give me the meds I take for it. She said she would tell all of her patients with high B.P. to go out dancing. I am ready for bed now, but I love what I did, and George remembered me.

So, goodnight dear hearts and we will meet again on the Morrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers, June

Well I think I am here. Nancy was running the vacuum cleaner and not noticed
it but ran it into my internet cable( never broke it ) but pulled it out of the phone jack. I of course could not get on line. never worried about it as that was a good reason to go to work. until she figured she could not get on line to play her games. and so I went to work and researched the problem. so we are back on line and I hope i am out of the dog house. Like every thing else I am
a day late and $$$$ short, But good to see I am missed and see the post's
of good news about ( Bis ) will be great to have her bagk. just pray she dose not rush too much and over do it. Have a great day everyone.

Lloyd

Amy

Good morning everyone..

Happy Birthday Joy, enjoy your special day...

Can you believe we are getting snow??? Light snow but sheesh this is May!!
A day of rest here ,may throw an apple pie in the oven as I didn't get any baking done yesterday. Watched the news to see all the flooding going on.

Larry, nice that your lab results were fine.

Carol, I also have some UFO'S to finish, maybe we can "push" each other :)

Hal, we hope so to, he is so lucky to have a fantastic oncology Dr.she is a real gem.

Better get a move on here..

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Sorry I didn't report in when I got home.  I was tired and hungry.

I put the casserole in the oven and when it was ready, I had some.  It's a pretty good recipe...called "Stuffed Cabbage Casserole".  I'll probably make it again.

Where's Jeanne Lee?

Happy Birthday, Joy!  Enjoy every minute of it.  Do whatever you feel like doing.

I'll be back later to see what Everyfriend has been up to.  Make it a good day.

Good morning everyone, sun is shining but cool this morning.

AMY  I know Jeanne Lee does not post often but she has been giving us a new page for the week while Joan is in the hospital.  I just hope Jeanne is OK.

JANE  I hope you have pet insurance. I know vet bills are like those we get for us. I cam picture Annie and Mickie sticking together when you got home. If I remember right you were at a Missouri gathering and anxious to get home so you could get her. You were waiting for her to be old enough to leave ner Mommie. You made that youngster's day covering half of his shift.

JOAN   hooray that is the best news we have had in much too long here in the SS. We all miss you so much.

SHIRLEY  have a safe trip, both ways.

HAL  hope you enjoyed that big breakfast and enjoyed the food and company.

JOY  if it had been a little colder the last few days we would have had a lot of snow. On the news last night the weather guesser said more rain this coming week and might see some wet snow.

LARRY  from what I just saw on local weather we have a chance of rain almost every day this coming week, nothing like we had Friday though.

CAROL  I would love for the weather to get back to normal. By this time of year here a light jacket is all that is needed at times, I still had my winter jacket on even yesterday.

JENNY  isn't it wonderful that JOAN will go home at last?

LLOYD  now you know you are missed when you don't post every day. Glad it was a plug out and not you being at the VA again.

AMY  last forecast I heard said we might get some wet snow later this week. Do not need any more till Christmas, right?

Good Morning Everyone!

Almost ready for church.  Just need to put on a shirt and get a pain patch on my back.

Joy, have a great birthday.  I hope you get a big cake and lots of ice cream.  Do you all remember how, as kids, we used to look forward to those.  Ice cream was a real treat as well as the cake.

See you after church.

Mary Ann

Amy, I just looked at radar and your snow has gone NE of you, all in Canada.  Our area looks clear for several days, so some of that may go your way.

Joy, happy birthday and may you have many more.  You have a long way to go before you reach me.

Dot had her second cataract surgery Wednesday and she is seeing double when using both eyes.  One at a time, all is clear.  She can't drive so we did not go to church, in fact, it was Tom and I who went OTB this morning.

Terry's memorial service will be this afternoon so all of the family will be there.  I am glad the weather is cooperating (clear but cool) so there should be good attendance.  The service will be at the church where Jan is Associate Minister.

Hal, it interested me that you put your shirt on before the pain patch.  Do you wear the patch on the outside?

Mary Ann

Lindancer

Good morning, Sun is shinning.

Amy, you have snow, and I had to order fuel oil this week, as it is so cool and damp, and all the May flowers are coming out. Tuesday, they had even gave out a frost warning.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Joy, and many more.

Carol & Beverly thanks for asking about Keith, after a week in the hospital he was discharged to his brothers house in Pa. He said they gave him a pillow to hold, and try not to cough or sneeze.

June, when you mention Sweet Caroline, I had to laugh. if my husband was down stairs at the bar in the Polish Hall (where we went to a lot of affairs) he would come running as he knew I wanted to dance. When I taught line dancing, I always played NY,NY. When I hear Mack the Knife, even if I am at the computer, I get up and dance a LITTLE.

Larry, glad your lab test went well. I have to go back to the hematologist WEd. as last week my blood count went very low again, they were checking to see if I need and infusion of iron. Since I was in the hospital in March, I stay very tired.

Mary Ann,  ;D  I don't put my shirt on before the Lidocane patch.  But if I need one on after the shirt is on, I just lift the shirt tail so the wife can apply.  This morning I carried the shirt into the bedroom where she was getting dressed and let her apply patch and then put my shirt on.

Happy Sunday Morning dear friends. I have been awake since 6a.m., but I feel still half asleep. Good thing it's Sunday…a quiet day here. I will soon go down for Church, then home for a bit, then down for Sunday dinner, and that's it…..after that I can just crash for the rest of the day. Life is Good !!!!!!!!!!!

Lloyd, glad to know all is well with you, and it wasn't YOUR plug that got pulled. We need that connection to the One who made us.

Janie, Once I married that Polish guy I made LOTS of stuffed cabbage. I'll bet the casserole is easier to put together, right ? Not that I intend to cook, but I really like that dish. I always poured diluted tomato soup over the top of the cabbage rolls before baking them.

Hal…hey buddy…patch first, shirt second. tch, tch…….

Gloria de, I sure miss the line dancing we did at our other place, and now I have forgotten the routine we did to N.Y. N.Y. I just do what feels good now.

I have to cut this short…time to get down for Church.

Happy, Happy Birthday JOY !!!!
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Amy

Mary Ann it is still snowing here, no accumulation on the ground though.

Linedancer, my rhubarb is just about ready to pick and some folks have daffodils blooming...silly weather here for sure.

Hubby hinted for an apple pie so I have one in the oven now, that will go along with our scalloped potatoes ,roast pork and vegetables. Will put some apple pie in the hidey hole for you...

JUNE, the casserole is easier than actually stuffing the cabbage leaves.  And I cheated a bit more.  I bought a bag of already shredded cabbage intended for cole slaw so I didn't have to shredd.  And I had hamburger and onions already cooked in the freezer.  I put home canned tomato sauce on where it called for cans from the store.  It was very good....the taste of stuffed cabbage without the work.

I've been to church, stayed for coffee hour with friends and then to WM for some groceries.  They are all put away, doggies had a snack and I've had lunch.

Gloria, I've never attended a gathering in Missouri but I was in Texas "summer-sitting" my grandchildren right before I got Mickie.  Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Now I'm off to see what kind of trouble I can get into.

Janie, I would surely use that recipe for cabbage casserole IF I still cooked. I am not really up to standing and cooking so it a good thing I can't be tempted. All I have is the microwave and a very mini sized toaster oven. I should eat more meals downstairs as I am paying for three meals a day, but I am a slow starter in the morning, usually have my big meal at noon, then a small meal of left overs for supper. I always have a lot of canned goods on hand or frozen meals.

For the first time since I moved here, I had trouble staying awake during our visiting Minister's Sermon. And for the life of me, I can't remember what his theme was on......it was something about "drawing nearer to the Lord". I felt guilty for struggling to keep my eyes open.

Hi Joan. It's great  to see you back in circulation

Amy, when my family and I arrived in Ottawa May 1956 we were sitting in a motel looking out the front when it started snowing, just a brief heavy shower.  But being an old Texas boy and used to really warm temps that time of the year I was really surprised.  Also remember having to wait for our household furniture because Ontario wouldn't allow furniture companies to carry full trailers because of highways "heaves" from the roads being frozen.  But on the other hand, I remember one Christmas when it appeared that we were going to have a brown Christmas, but the day was saved when it started snowing just a few days before Christmas, we were buying our Christmas tree as a matter of fact.

Bis you need to eat what you like, may be wist to try to eat healthy .
Have a great day hope to see you often just do not over doo in.

CallieOK

Good Sunny Sunday Afternoon,

:happybday: JOY

:hello:  Joan

Hal,  I didn't say anything about the shirt/patch comment but I was thinking it!!!! ;)

June and Gloria,  When I hear "New York, New York"  I feel like "strutting" with a top hat and a cane.  "Sweet Caroline" is a special favorite; maybe you can guess why.

Two of the OTL ladies had the most wonderful chicken salad today.  It was a big bowl of mixed greens with grilled chicken chunks, strawberries, blueberries, pineapple chunks and chopped walnuts - plus packets of parmesan cheese croutons and a choice of dressing to add as desired.
Since I can't eat raw veggies, I had to pass it up - but I enjoyed my chicken nuggets almost as well.

Looks as if it will be a lovely evening for sitting on the patio.   I may record my regular Sunday night tv shows and enjoy some outdoor time.

Hope Everyfriend Everywhere has had/is having an Enjoyable Day.

Amy

Joan, do you have  Meals On Wheels in your area? Maybe you could get those until your feeling up to cooking?

Hal, we have had a few of those brown/green Christmases, in fast 2016 I took a photo of hubby out on the lawn mower on Christmas day..he just wanted a photo to show others of our green Christmas.

Callie, speaking of photos , I love your new look!!!

I went in and turned on the TV to a John Wayne movie )SHE WORE A YELLOW RIBBON) and I don't remember seeing any of it.  THE BIG VALLEY was on when I woke up.  There's another John Wayne on this evening...THE WAR WAGON.  Maybe I'll try to watch that one.

Joanie, so good to see you posting!  We're all pulling for you.  I think Amy has a good suggestion about the Meals on Wheels.  One good one a day has to help you over the hump.  If I lived near you, I'd make you a selection of home made TV dinners.

I have to see if the doggies have taken advantage of the open door.  I hope they are back inside because we are having a very chilly Sunday.  No sitting out like Callie.

I'm going to take care of some little chores that are nagging me.  The do that sometimes to the point that I can't ignore them any more.  Let's see...what's first?

Bis, How good it is to hear that you are enjoying the taste of food !!!! That is a good sign of your healing, and much kudos to the hospital. If you have a good restaurant in your area it would be worth the $$ to order delivery for awhile so you can keep eating well and enjoying. I'm sure you are wise enough to not take advantage of your freedom in being home, we want you really good and strong before you decide to turn the key in your car.  I love you girl !!!!!!!

I'm also wondering about Jeanne Lee. She hasn't posted for two weeks.

Jane S. - I'm thinking of making the stuffed cabbage casserole for a pot luck on Tuesday. Do you think the bagged shredded cabbage  turned out as well as the hand-shredded would?

Gloria de - I'm glad to hear your nephew was able to leave the hospital.

Amy - I'm not surprised by your snow.  :)  More than once in Vermont we had our blooming tulips covered with snow in May.

Eyes are bothering me so I'll say Good Night Joan and all.

Beverly

JaneS

Beverly, since this was my first try at the casserole, I'm not a judge of the difference but the casserole was delicious.  The bag of cabbage I bought was designed for cole slaw and had carrots in it too.  I will make it again and I'll do the same thing with the cabbage because I loved it.  And it was very easy!  Also, I had home canned tomato sauce that I did up last summer.  I'm thinking that might have made a difference, too.  But maybe not as much as I think it did.

I'm off to bed so I will bid Everyfriend a good night and a happy tomorrow.

I too hope our Jeanne Lee is O.K. Will say extra prayers for her.

Beverly and Jane, I always used diluted tomato soup in my cooking dishes. Ed objected to the tartness of tomato sauce or paste. If I were still cooking I would sure mix up your recipe and enjoy every bite Jane. I have always liked cabbage in any style or form.

I had a quiet day of snoozing and reading..sure didn't feel good after lunch. I didn't get my grocery order done either, so hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. We do what we can when we can, and that's the way it gonna' be.

Sleep well dear hearts. God Bless you all with Peace, Love, and good health.
