Good for Jackie.  It will be nice to hear from her again.

Well saw the oncologist and almost on time, just a few minutes late, and got some answers.
First off, no operation at this time.  Did some blood work to check my PSA and make an appointment for a base line Ultra-sound next week and then an appointment again with him in six months.  It is going to be a wait and see thing.  No biopsy will be performed.  Evidently they don't do them on kidneys.  It is a very small tumor and if they decide to do an operation later they will just remove the part affected, not the whole kidney.  Anyhow that is plan for now. I will repeat the six month regime on a routine basis.

We went to the Cracker Barrel and I had my Chicken Fried steak, mash potatoes, pinto beans and green beans along with hot biscuits and a glass of lemonade.  It was good.

Molly, always happy to see you posting.

June, why couldn't you have a half and half coffee, half coffee and half milk.  That wouldn't upset your stomach, would it?  At least it would be warm and comforting.

Mary Ann, Phyliss, Janie, my Mother used to use tenderized round steak for her chicken fried steaks and smothered steak, sometimes she has used deer meat for the smothered steak.  I love the gravy from smothered steak on mashed potatoes.  She would always use the left over grease to make the gravy for chicken fried steak.  Thinking back I think that they used round steak because it was always the cheapest cut of steak you could buy.  Like chuck roast, seems like we paid 39 cents a pound for chuck roast.  Why that prices sticks in mind I have no idea.  Grilled meats were seldom eaten when I was a kid.  And BBQ was always a big deal and done over a dug pit and an all night affair for the grown up men (suspect that had something to do with adult beverages :D ).  And most of the time it was goat meat.  Hard to find a full bite of meat on a goat.

JoanFL

Good job, MaryTX.

angelface--I spent two hours this afternoon get that thingy to work.

Sandy--I am.

Janie--Glad you enjoyed lunch with your friend and the movie.

Thanks, Jeanne.

Jackie/Vanilla--Welcome back.  You were missed.  I'm glad to hear you're so happy in your new home.

halkel--I'd say that was pretty good news you got from your oncologist.  After all the talk today, I am yearning for some chicken fried steak.

Yay!  Jackie's back!  We were so worried about you because of the change of internet and your move and we really didn't want to lose you.  We'll be looking forward to seeing pictures.  I'm so glad your neighbors were welcoming.  That's so important!

So nice to be back!  I have been have a time with a genealogy program - merging the old one into the new one.  Somehow, I cannot get a grandson in as a male - and it says unknown.  Hmm - not my boy!

It is getting warmer here in Tucson and we will stay longer this year because oldest son are moving to the area for a few years.  They sold their house in Denver suburbs in a day and half with more than a dozen showings so tromping  through - it did stay clean with potential buyers wearing slippers.  Good idea.

Otherwise, we spent most nights in the back yard here viewing stars in the sky - so nice with the low-lighting laws of Tucson and the area.  Especially nice here with no street lights - yes, it is possible to live without all that light.

Rammel, I have a iMac, and just received an email that scared me half to death. It said my computer had been corrupted with spy ware and would not operate till I called Apple Computer for help, and they gave me a phone number. I did not follow their instructions, and my computer is working fine, as is my email. I had a heck of a time getting rid of the message. Had to delete it about six times. Did I do the right thing ???

Hal, Sounds like you have a good doctor. He is not rushing you into surgery like a lot of them do. When my kids were in school they had a school mate that had  one kidney removed when he was an infant, and he was doing fine on one kidney. Because our daughter died from kidney disease, I have learned quite a bit, and one thing that amazed me was the fact that a person could live with just a quarter of a kidney. At least that's what I learned a long time ago..I'm going to google it and see if that still stands.

Vanilla, I am SO glad you were able to find us. I was concerned as it happened about the time you moved and I knew you had to have a new connection and feared that might confuse the whole issue. You sound so very happy in your new place and I am happy for you. Looking forward to seeing pictures of your view.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Hal, found this through Google.Kidney: As you're probably aware, humans have two kidneys, but need only one to survive. People may be born with just one kidney, or have one removed after injury or for a donation. In general, people with one kidney have few or no health problems, and have a normal life expectancy, according to the National Kidney Foundation. Technically, people can live with no kidneys, but require dialysis

I believe you did the right thing, BUT - I am not an iMac or Apple person. I think Jane is more familiar with an iMac.

HAL  Would you like temperatures in the 20's and snowing all day? That is what is has been here all day. Hope you gpt good news from your doctor today.

KELLY  I would not try walking around in the snow anymore. I can picture my rollator sliding one way and me another.

JOAN  I think my SIL is looking forward to retirement more than her. He has worked for the same company since he got out of high school, more than 40+years. It was sold a few months ago and the new owners do things their own way. Hard for him to adjust after having the same owners so many years.

MARY ANN  I cannot put an indoor outdoor thermometer here. Nothing on the outside of the building. We have had snow piling up all day. Forecaster said we could get up to 8 inches. Had 6 inches on Sunday. Daughter and SIL already have a house on the land they bought. It is about an hour out of Kingman, up in the mountains.

MOLLY  glad you finally made it here.

JUNE one time when they were in Arizona at Easter time they woke to it snowing. My SIL had never seen that before. They bundled up and went out to play in it. My daughter taught him how to make a snowman.  They both had fun.

GLORIA de  it snowed all day here and cold, too.

PATRICIA  thanks for the directions. I will try tomorrow.

JEANNE  thanks for letting us know that Jackie has registered.

JACKIE  so good seeing you again. We were worried about you. Glad you like your new home so much. Now we want to know how the move went and how you are doing.

HAL  more wait and see? Chuck roast is no longer a cheap cut. Too many people found out it is a tasty cut.

RAMMEL  I copied what Angleface posted about the weather widget. Hope I can follow it tomorrow.

JUNE  my DIL had a kidney removed about 25 years ago and is doing great.

Have a good night everyone. I am worn out tonight for some reason. Must be this crazy winter weather we are having.

June, Greetings my friend.

Yes I have been to Spencer many times , a distance from where I live but not a big drive,  great town as well as to St. Peter Minnesota, did some auditing there years ago, I am but 60 miles from the northern Minnesota line, and 12 miles to the Ole Mississippi river and Wisconsin, so I get the three for one benefits :)
Yes born , raised and Educated in Iowa, when the thought of retirement came along, there was some hesitation on my part of now what,  but that passed soon, go back home, enjoy the quiet, serenity of the roaming hills and valleys of such a scenic area of Iowa and agricultural country of NE Iowa :)

So planted here now and loving it as always.

Enjoy a great night and do make tomorrow special.

Mycheal

Just done reading for the day but JACKIE ..so pleased to see you and to,know you are amongst welcoming friends. Lucky you to see the water.look forward to seeing photos.  Now to take care of yourself after all that angst

Hi Gloria
Hope you have had a good day.

June Drabek

Rammel, my error, I thought you did Mac. I didn't know Jane did Mac, but when I first knew Jeanne Lee she did Mac and PC both. My son had me install an anti virus program today. I think it is called Avast.

Gloria, I can just imagine how your sill must have felt, seeing snow for the first time. I can understand his eagerness to retire. We had two different big companies buy our retirement place in Hemet and they got worse as time went on. When you have one employer as long as he did, it is more like "family" and it is difficult to adjust to new owners. I am so happy for your DIL, they did nothing like that when we needed. A lot of advancement in all areas of medicine now. I remember when Penicillin  came out..they called it the miracle medication.

Mycheal, it makes me happy to know you are so content with your life. I had Mn. relatives that had to go to WW2, and they couldn't wait to return to little St. Peter. Three generations of family farmers within a few miles of each other. They all worked the farms as a unit. Now only my cousin is alive. He is one day older than me.

Junee, am I correct that as we are heading into evening you are already into a new day ? A program like we have here is so marvelous in keeping us all together. I love it.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JUNE

Yes,the time zones become very confusing, think we are about 17 hours ahead  of you so now you are all sleeping,or supposed to be and it is afternoon here on the 5th.
It is Autumn here now but we are enjoying some beautiful days of sunshine.  I do not get downstairs every day but went down with my walker this morning. My daughter Jen used to call me "The Gardener" but since she has now taken over that position I am now "The Tenant". My separated unit is downstairs and she resides upstairs with her cat.  How fortunate can one be as she is a retired RN and able to give me B12 injections which keep the engine going.

From S & F I have a mental picture of all the posters and when I did visit your country and attend some Bashes, people were just as I had imagined them. Many passed on but have great memories.  Think our JOAN does a great job manning the post here and wonder at times whether she ever goes to bed.

Had my afternoon nap so now for that 'cuppa tea'.

Food For Thought

We Have That
By Michael T. Smith

I sat on our front landing. It was just before Christmas. It's a magical time of year. Most people are in a good mood. I heard our downstairs neighbor's door open and close.

Lainey, started up the stairs. She carried the saw my next door neighbor loaned her to trim the tree I gave her for Christmas.

"Hey, Lainey! You get that tree trimmed?"

"Yup!"

"Ready to decorate it?"

"Almost! We just need to get it on the stand."

"I miss the smell of a real tree, but not the mess they make. A real tree is special though."

"I agree ...and thank you for giving it to us."

"My pleasure."

She knocked on my neighbor's door and returned the saw.

She turned to leave. "Don't leave. Have a seat. let's chat."

"OK!"

She sat; we talked.

My neighbor stepped out. The three of us chatted.

My door opened. Ginny joined us.

A few minutes later, Lainey's partner, Heather, came outside, walked up the steps and joined us. It was now a party of five ...a special impromptu gathering. We stood, sat
and laughed for half an hour.

It's special to have great neighbors. I wouldn't have it any other way.

We have that.

Good Tuesday morning....

I put together a few ( ok a lot ) of photos of our new home and its surroundings.....As you can tell I feel very blessed that we are here permanently and don't need to go home after a holiday as many do....the views are really stunning, even though I have to fight the odd uphills and downhills, with the aid of my stick and, or walker, or the grab of R's armsleave I am managing to get out and about for a short ten minutes walk......I do love it here.....Links.....

Good Morning Everyfriend!

First, I know there are a couple of Janes here but I am not one with an Mac computer.  I have a hybrid that uses the windows system.  The guys at a local computer place built it for me about 6 years ago and they keep it up and running and add or delete what I need or don't need periodically.  They're a bunch of good guys and I trust them.  I've known at least 2 of them since they were born!

Second, Jackie, your new place is just about perfect!  I'm so happy for you.  Enjoy every minute of every day there!

Don't know what I'll be getting into today but I'll check back later and see what all of you have been up to.

Lloyd, I'm so sorry for your unlucky sparks.  Maybe you need to dig a pit to burn trash and have a screen that fits over the top of it.  That's what one of my farmer friends does at his place.

Have a good day Everyfriend!

Good morning,  Joan and everyfriend.    Sticky buns sound perfect for this morning's breakfast.  Thanks for the stories this morning.

Jackie,  I am so impressed with your new home and all the surrounding countryside.  I can understand why you have such a peaceful feeling.  I wish you many, many happy years there.  I love the leaded glass design on the windows.  And, so nice to see all the nice welcome greetings for your new home.

It is cold here in central Maryland again this morning.  And, they are calling for snow flurries over the coming week end.  Where is Spring?

Have a wonderful day.
