Hi everyone.  It is another bright, sunny and calm morning and it should be a great day for the beginning activities at the Master's Golf Tourney. We had a much smaller number at both Sunday School and church yesterday as a lot of folks leave this area on Master's week.  The only time I plan on going over to Augusta is a little before noon today to attend a meeting.  At that time of day most folks will probably be at the golf course and off the roads.  I look forward to watching the NCAA Men's Finals in Basketball tonight.  Our stair lift signaled us that all is not well so will have to get hold of the company to get someone here to fix it.  This is the second time in just over a year and each service call is at least $200.  Needless to say we are not very happy with what was suppose to be the best stair lift made.

If you are a poster in "Norm's Bait and Tackle" discussion, a heads up that the discussion has been moved and is now in the Village Square-Town Talk discussion group.

JaneS, your antics in your car yesterday morning brings back the image of Gladys climbing out of her apartment window into her back yard area.  I hope you didn't hurt yourself in your efforts to get to the front seat.

Mary Ann, I am with you and Joan on how I want my hamburger.  I certainly wouldn't order one with olives as don't even care for them in a salad.  Our daughter loved olives.

June, my sister and brother-in-law live very close to Spencer, Iowa and I have been through the town several times.  I have also driven through St. Peter, Minnesota on my way from the Minneapolis  airport to my sister's home.

Sun, have you tried slowing the movement of the mouse down in the mouse settings?  I see Rammel has also suggested the same possible solution.

Kelly

Hi Gloria
I think I rather rain than snow.  It looks nice on a postcard, but not good if your mobility is not good.

Kelly

JoanFL

Lloyd--Hopefully your granddaughter can fix your camera so you can get a picture for your avatar.

Good morning, Phyllis.  I haven't had chicken fried steak since I left Arkansas.  I'll have to get out to eat and have some.

Gloria--Yuck, snow.  Maybe this will be the end of it for this year.  Sounds like Regina is really looking forward to retirement.

Good morning halkel.  I hope you get some answers from your doctor today.

Sandy--Good morning.  It's about time you got some warmer weather.

Larry--Good morning.  You've had bad luck with that chair lift.  $200 for a service call is atrocious.

I'm off to lunch and a movie with my friend, Mavis.  We're going to see the new Sally Field movie called "Hello, My Name is Doris".  The trailers I've seen on TV look good and I don't think she's ever done anything I didn't like.

Haven't decided where to have lunch yet but there are lots of places between here and the movie theater.

Try not to get into too much trouble while I'm gone.

Gloria, I have an indoor/outdoor thermometer beside me so I don't have to go far to see what the temp it.  Where the cable is located is kind of sheltered and the sun can hit it so I usually take off a degree or so - right now it says we are at 31 degrees and I believe it!  Tom just came in with my breakfast (!) and he said it is cold.  Tom sometimes goes to Mc D's for his breakfast and brings back a cranberry muffin and coffee.

I have to tell about the cat yesterday and I doubt I can do it in 25 words or less!  Being Sunday, I was limited in time, getting ready for church.  I started to make my bed and was nearly finished when the cat jumped on the bed and sat on the part that goes over the pillows.  I left it that way and got dressed.  In mid-afternoon, I went to my bedroom for something and noticed a lump under that part that goes over the pillows; I peeked and there was the cat sleeping.  He often is on top of the cover, but I had not had him get under part of it before.  He does not get IN my bed, just sleeps ON it.

Gloria, I used to like the green olives, but if I buy any now, and that is almost never, I buy the ones with pimiento in them.  I liked the oliveburger, but I really prefer mine without.

Junee, I think our good weather last fall lasted longer than usual, so I guess winter is holding on here too.  We had two or three inches of snow Saturday and by Sunday afternoon, it was done.  I haven't looked at the weather on TV but I had heard we'd have more snow later this week.  As we head into summer, you're heading for winter.

Jenny, Dot is doing well.  She has breakfast with friends a couple times a week, she has lunch with Tom, Terry, Jan and me once a week, she is going to get involved in Hospice with Jan's help (Jan is head of a group) and she sees her daughter often.  She is going to Chicago soon to be with her son and his wife.

Sun, my mouse often travels and it is not cordless.  I've heard all sorts of excuses as to why that is, but most of them don't hold water.

Gloria, where in Arizona are your daughter and SIL building.  I remember my dad and I traveled to AZ on some trips and we both loved it.  Dad's first teaching job was in Flagstaff.

Phyll and Hal, I am not sure, but I think your Chicken Fried Steak is the same or similar to my Swiss Steak.  I tenderize it, then dredge it is seasoned flour, then fry it in a skillet.  I haven't had that in ages, maybe it is something to do one of these days.

Mary Ann

Molly

I'm trying one more time to post here since my earlier recent messages have NOT appeared in this discussion, nor any recent messages directed to me me.  Perhaps I jut need to give my computer a rest!
Hope everyone had a good weekend and will enjoy this week!
Molly

JoanFL

Janie--Enjoy the movie and your lunch with Mavis.  We'll behave--I promise.:)

Mary Ann--Funny about that cat of yours hiding from you in the spread.  Glad to hear Dot is doing well and plans to do some work with Hospice. It's hard to lose a spouse.

Molly--Maybe you forgot to click "post" when making a post here?

Mary Ann, the chicken fried steak that I grew up with is made with ground beef floured and dipped in egg batter and skillet fried.  Usually served with white gravy over it.  Some people do make it with tenderized round steak but I prefer it with ground beef.  And that is the kind I had for dinner last night.

Swiss Steak is made with tenderized round steak and is floured, browned, and then simmers in a tomato sauce with celery and onions for about an hour to an hour and a half.  My mother made it a lot.

I like them both.

Jenny, I cannot tell you what a happy feeling it gave me to read that Michelle had made a nice supper for all of you. I still pray for them and the little ones that were so disturbed for a while. God is so kind in answering our prayers.

Sun, I am so sorry about the inability of your hands to use the computer keys. My son and sent me a cordless mouse also, and I really disliked it..lack of control..so my younger son adopted it. I had to buy a new keyboard and I'm still not used to it..that was months ago. It is shorter than the other one and my most constant error is hitting the caps lock key instead of the A key.

Jaywalker, you are a gal after my own heart. Pizza and wine. I haven't had wine since before I moved here, and it was a before supper drink for years and years and years. Somehow just lost my taste for it. No more brandy either. With all these good religious people around me I get a guilt complex. I do keep beer on hand for a hot day, but that is very seldom now. No wonder I feel so crummy.

Lloyd, you are going to have a lot of unhappy cattle bellowing in your ears today. Poor things….I mean the cattle.

Jane, I have that little square to close off shout box also.

Bis, when I woke up this morning I felt so lousy, I intended to spend the day in bed. That lasted till almost nine o'clock, and I pushed myself up and out of bed. Still feel sleepy though.

Callie, I too am (was) a lover of chicken fried steak, also swiss steak with a tomato gravy . With this touchy stomach, which I used to consider it being made of cast iron, I had had to change back my diets to soft foods. Bah, Humbug !!!!!

Gloria, They have packets of hot Chocolate mix here at the snack bar, for us to help ourselves. It can be made with hot water or milk, which is handy for me as with the tiny refrigerator I now have I cant store big half gallons of milk any more. My Grandkids, born in Ca., that moved to Idaho have snow about six months out of the year. They love it. And I sure Regina and her husband will love it too. When we had our little cabin in Pine Cove we had good snowfalls, but they never lasted long.

Hal, thanks for the offer of coffee. I made my own today..very, very weak as I don't want to irritate my innards.

Larry, yes, St. Peter had the main thoroughfare running south from Minneapolis. It was on that highway I was hit by a car. Drunks coming back from a hunting trip. They swerved to miss the cattle on the right and hit me on the left side of the highway.

Mary Ann, I too love green olives with the pimento. I have them on my grocery list right now. Cats are very intelligent creatures, and will find their comfort very easily.

Molly, I'm so glad to see your post. Chad is in my prayers for his new assignment.

I don't feel like it, but I am going to make myself take a walk. see you L8R
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

Phyllis--I like them both, too.

June--Maybe you can nap this afternoon.  I intend to.  I hear the couch calling me already.:)  Good for you taking a walk.

Lindancer

Good afternoon, on this very cold rainey day.  Freeze warings to night, with snow.

June, laughed at those hymm sayings. thanks

Gloria, that is a purple hat, whenit is your birthday in RH's you wear a purple hat, and red dress or top.  Linda took the picture Friday. By the way I was suprised when she told me all the Christmas Tree shops on the Cape are Bath & Beyond.   We still have our Christmas Tree shop here.

Hal, I think I have said before my husband like the Cracker Barrel, cause he could get his chickn fried steak and orka.

Gloria de, the hymn sayings came from Joan..I enjoyed them too. The author had a good sense of humor.

I had a nice walk, many cheerful greetings from staff and others. No sweater needed today. we will be at a nice 78 degrees. Will go down at noon for lunch.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Mary Ann

Phyllis, I probably have not had Chicken Fried Steak if it's made with ground beef although I've used minute steaks to make my Swiss Steak - or something similar.  I also put something tomato on my Swiss Steak when I cook it.  I like Swiss Steak and I'm sure I'd like the Chicken Fried Steak.  It's late, but I haven't had lunch yet so I think I should find something to eat.

Mary Ann

JoanFL

June--Glad you had a nice walk.  Your temp is about what mine is.

Kelly--Good you can keep warm.

Mary Ann--I made myself a nice salad for lunch.

Joan, a salad sounds good - if I have the makings.  Tom doesn't have the same food tastes that I have and if I don't put salad on the list, we don't get it.

JaneS

Hi Everyfriend...and especially you, Molly.  I'm so glad you found us here!  We missed you!

Lunch was good.  We went to a little restaurant that is local although they now have 3 locations.  Food is good, prices are right and staff is friendly.

The movie (Hello, My Name is Doris) was good, funny and definitely one of Sally Field's best.  But if you go, take an open mind.  There is some rather "blue" language.  I don't understand why movie makers think they need to foul up the language to make a good movie.

Swiss steak was also a staple in my house when the kids were growing up.  And it was made the way ?Phyll?  said with the flour and the browning and the tomato sauce on it.  Sometimes, I would just cut up potatoes and add them to the pan so they also had the flavor of the sauce and I often put cut up carrots in the sauce, too.  Ooh!  I'm making myself hungry!  Might have to buy some round steak this week.

Now I'm going to go close my eyes for a few minutes and see what happens.  My dinner is ready to go whenever I get hungry.  It's "planned-over" spaghetti from last night.

With the return of Molly and Junee I think the only one of our crowd that's still missing is Jackie.  I sure hope she emails someone so we can find her.  I don't think I even know her last name.
