Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend. There's sausage biscuits to go with your coffee or tea. Have a blessed Sunday. Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “Summer in the Country†graphic creation which we are using this week.

ArgumentsA man complains to a friend, "I can't take it anymore."
"What's wrong?" his concerned friend asks.
"It's my wife. Every time we have an argument, she gets historical!"
"You mean hysterical," his friend said, chuckling.
"No, I mean HISTORICAL," the man insists. "Every argument we have, she'll go "I still remember that time when you ...."

Just Being There
(Author Unknown) As mother looked out the window, she noticed Mrs. Martin's rocking chair on the porch.
"That ol' rocking chair looks so lonely with Mrs. Martin gone. She was an awfully good neighbor and we'll miss her", she said.
Little Roger spoke up and told his mommy he was going to go see Mr. Martin. His mother discouraged little Roger trying to explain it was too soon after Mrs. Martin's death.
Little Roger replied, "but mommy, I'm a big help to Mr. Martin."
"How are you a big help Roger?" she asked.
Little Roger proudly smiled and said........"I help Mr. Martin cry!"
Thought of the Day
"Some Christians try to go to heaven alone, in solitude. But believers are not compared to bears or lions or other animals that wander alone. Those who belong to Christ are sheep in this respect, that they love to get together. Sheep go in flocks, and so do God's people."

Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm just going to mark my space this morning because I have to get my day started. It's going to be busy and HOT!
Have a good start to your day and make it a good one!
Good morning evryone.
Ovr cast and muggy but they are not calling for more rain today. Yesterday was lovely with it raining most of the day. My rain barrel is full now
A day of rest here and meals will be quick,no oven on today. Have some field tomatoes that will make a nice toasted tomato sandwich for lunch.
Phyllis, love the "Summer In The Country"
Larry, hope Pat is feeling better today.
June, hope you are also feeling better today.
Joan , thank you for breakfast
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning, Janie. Hope you enjoy your busy day.
Amy--Good morning. Sure wish we'd get a portion of the rain you've received. I often make a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich. Your mention of a toasted tomato sandwich triggered my taste buds.:)
Good morning! Another hot and sticky day. Summer in the South is not my favorite time of the year.
Had a scare a few days ago and thought I was having a heart attack. I had an EKG that showed no problems but I'm wearing a heart monitor now even though my dr. and I think it was caused by something else. It's better to check and make sure, we both think. Doing better than I was a few days ago but I must say I'm getting weary of so many medical appointments.
Thank you, Amy, for liking the graphic this week.
Good to see June checking in and letting us know she is tired but OK.
Joan, that is a horrendous price to pay for postage on the work case. But I'm sure your DIL is relieved to have it back.
After a busy week I'm glad to be staying in and relaxing today. Hope all of you will enjoy your day, too.
I'm enjoying some of the Olympic events but not watching all the time. I like the golf and the swimming and some other things but not too interested in beach volleyball, etc.
Hi everyone on a beautifully clear but very warm morning here in South Carolina. I will go to Sunday School and Church in a short while. I fixed breakfast for Pat and myself, watered my plants and started to unload the dishwasher only to discover I hadn't turned it on last evening. I will pick up a good lunch for us and then plan a quiet afternoon and evening. Pat had a rough night and although she tried for a couple of hours, couldn't stand to stay laying down in bed. I am so thankful she has a comfortable easy chair where she can be without pain.
I have enjoyed reading the interesting postings from you all. However, am short on time today so will give everyone a break with this short posting (certainly not my typical).
Good morning, Phyllis. I am sure glad you didn't have a heart attack and hope nothing shows up while you are wearing the monitor. It's hot and sticky here, too--weatherguessers say hottest summer in decades--it certainly is the hottest since I moved here. I was floored at the postage cost to send Kate her work brief case. I left with $50 cash in my wallet, thinking that would be plenty. Thank goodness I had my credit card.
Larry--Good morning. I am so sorry that Pat is in so much pain. Thank the Good Lord she can sleep in her chair without the intense pain.
Good morning everyone. Yesterday was a day of thunderstorms here. Just heard on TV there was another one early-2AM that I slept through. Every time I turned the TV or PC on here came another one. More predicted for today. Going to be be another 100+ heat index.
JOAN I think those Microsoft emails I am getting are fishing/scams. Got a new one yesterday, phone call from HP. Telling me my PC is sending them a report that I have a virus on this computer. Really? They will replace this lemon and it will only cost me $300-. Right. I would have to pay them and then they would send a replacement computer I must be a target right now.
JANE it was not the bold it was the red you used that made me say ouch.
HAL since no one else got those emails from Microsoft I thought it a hoax and I deleted them anyway.
PATRICIA I deleted those emails the way I do others. Just click delete, no red X there deleting. I am still checking files to see if I can find those 10 DLLs you sent me and cannot not find.
PHYLLIS beautiful graphic again.
JOAN thank you for all today's goodies.
Morning All! Just marking a spot, off to church pretty quick.
:anon: ;D
Everyone is more than welcome to try out for the Trivia/Quiz on http://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?board=22.0
Callie K.....
... I recognise those pair of arms anywhere....there is no hiding from us... ;D
Chia.....
... thank you, I have done my bit.....
Sunny, Sunday Morning. We are scheduled for 90 degrees today so my A C will get a workout today. So far I have poured an overflow of water into my coffee maker so had to clean that mess up. Mr. Coffee worked fine in spite of his morning shower.
I am feeling more human today, so am planning to go down for Chapel, if I stay feeling good. Life is full of surprises though so we go step by step. Thanks to Jeannep and Amy for your kind wishes. I am finding nothing in an aging life is for certain , so we step by step one day at a time and be very thankful.
Phyllis, I will be looking for your posts, praying for Good News. Hugs.
Good morning, Gloria. It's odd that only you are getting those emails/calls from Microsoft. I'd be happy with a thunderstorm if it brought considerable rain.
Good morning halkel and Callie.
Chia--I'm sure those interested will follow your link.
Good morning June. Must be Mr. Coffee needed a bath.:) Hope you feel well enough to go to Chapel.
Good morning everyone from a nothing new here Interior!
Gloria, I would check to see if you have recently gotten an extra toolbar. Sometimes an extra will come with a download and it is similar to a bookmark for scammers. I will resend you an email for those dlls.
Good morning/afternoon, angelface.
A good Sunday HELLO.
It has been a very busy morning, but now I have some time to relax and do something fun.
JACKIE, I have no idea what the streek could have been. I thought maybe it was the light of the day that gave the color on the trail, but it is strange that if it were a vapor train that it stayed thin and intact. Maybe it was on the horizon, rather than over head?
We have been having beautiful meteor showers here all night long. They are amazing.
Thank you JOAN, for our goodies this morning.
LOL, CALLIE. Jackie recognized your arms! I would love to see a picture of the finished Bronco.....how sweet. I am happy for your son.
Thank you, PHYLL, for the nice graphic. I am so glad you did not have a heart attack, but concerned if there is some underlying thing going on. Thoughts and prayers for you for a good report from your heart monitor.
Everyone enjoy your day.
Jenny
Made it to Church this morning and glad I did...excellent sermon. I planned to go to luncn. looked at the menu and changed my mind, came home got into comfy clothes and heated up so canned dinner.
Hope all is well with all of you. Jenny, I wish I could have watched the meteor showers with you, sounds wonderful.
Have a great rest of the day dear ones, I am going back to my book where I can read about, and be involved, in the mystical lives of the the fictional human beings
WHAT A DAY THIS HAS BEEN! This might sound vague to all of you but that's the way it has to be right now. I had a caller earlier today and he was God's angel in disguise! He told me some things about my granddaughter and what he told me was the answer to a prayer that I've been praying for several years. Never give up on your prayers because they WILL be answered in God's time. What might have been a tragedy turned into something good! I can't stop crying today but it's all happy tears. Rejoice with me even if you don't know why you are rejoicing.
GOD IS GOOD TO ME!
Jenny--You folks are busy bees.
June--Glad you made it to church. Too bad nothing on the menu appealed to you.
Janie--I am sooooooo happy for you and will rejoice with you.
Janie.......
Jane
You made my eyes leak with happiness for you..........YES.....God is good.......
Good eveing, I am just marking my week. This heat is doing a job on me. Tomorrow I have to go out in this heat, as I have to have my leg check on again.
I spent the day watching golf, great day for the USA, we were a metal winner. Yesterday it did not look like we would be even close. Going to end this as I am very tired, I will take shower and go to bed. Oh! MaryPage did you see Chesapeake Shores starts to night on HallMark. It sound like it is going to be good.
Janie, I am so glad you got good news today. I have felt you were carrying a burden...or several burdens...for some time now, and I thank God it is over with. God is Good. He is always in charge despite what grief comes into our lives, and He gave you the patience and strength to wait.
Thank you all!
June, it's not over and maybe never will be but it's going to be better now. God says so!
Good Night Everyfriend! May He bless you with His peace as He has blessed me.
Well the new week has begun, and good beginning it seems. Ahead lies Monday and the beginning of lots of appointments for not only me but my family. The whole rest of the month is full of doctors appointments. An early one in the morning with the eye doctor at 8:20. But that may be good, I should be one of her first appointments and she is notorious for running behind. So maybe I will get back home in some reasonable time period.
Well lots of rain around, and I do men around, we have been sitting in a hole the last few days and everyone around us is getting nice rain. Saturday we got just enough to wet the ground and the lawn guy left and returned today and left again, I guess he though we weren't home from church. Anyhow no rain at all here but poured all around us. I just checked RADAR and we should be getting some rain, but I guess it isn't making it to the ground, although the dog went out and came back damp.....damp not wet.
Anyhow, off to bed for me I am tired.
Nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.
Good night Janie and Hal and all. I have been grocery shopping on line and it has worn me out like I had been walking up and down the aisles. I can't figure out why I have to snoop the pages so much...always looking for the "best buys" I guess. Just can't release the thrifty side of me.
Have a peaceful night my friends, and God willing, we will meet again tomorrow. Hugs, Love and Prayers, June
Jane S......
......as my late father would often say..." you talk in riddles..." meaning you are not making things clear, I am not understanding......I am aware you have been under some stress, possibly with friend or family member, just reading between the lines....But yesterday out from the blue a guardian angel turned up and gave you the answers you have been looking for, what a miracle, I cant use any other word to describe it....And yes, never give up on God coming to our aid, he will come to our aid when we least expect it.....I too rejoice along with you....At last you can see things clearer now...you are going in the right direction...
Jenny......
.....I will assume it was just a very high up passenger plane, although it is even rare to spot a plane going overhead anytime of the day, we are not in a flight path, but we do often get military helicopters going over quite low, now those you definitely do hear.....It just threw me with its long thin and even orange-gold yard long tail, just never seen this before....I told R to quickly look out his bedroom window but, by that time it was out of view, even R said he has never seen nor heard of an orange-gold coloured trail before following a passenger plane...I told him, the trail wasnt fluffy along the edges, nor did it fan out wide at any point, just the same size following along behind it...
Halkel.....
......I dont envy you with your week - month long Doctor-Hospital appointments....but then I dont know whats worse, get them done and dusted as soon as possible or, have to wait three months to get seen, either way, we dont need nor want them, do we?.... I just think of these as a social life now....at least it gets us out, if there is a bright side to them.....
Sun.....
......hope all is improving with you, re, your damaged and bandaged arm....I have been missing your early morning posts for the last month....
Junedrabek.....
....glad to hear you were more perkier and human yesterday, " back in the land of the living," as my late father would often say.....
LarryHanna.......
......hoping your Pat had a reasonable nights sleep, and less pain than of late....You have been a very caring husband to be holding the fort as you have over the last few days.....but then there is only so much you can do....
Phyllis.....
....that was a nasty scare you had, thank heavens it wasn't a heart attack, never the less, it is still an unwelcome warning sign....
Good Monday morning, Everyfriend. There's DDs to accompany your coffee or tea . I wish everyone a nice day!!:smitten:

HomelessThe homeless man stopped a man on the street and asked, "Will you please give me $4,000 to buy a cup of coffee?"
"What?" asked the man. "Isn't that a lot of money for a cup of coffee?"
"Yes," said the bum, "but I like to eat in drive-in restaurants, and I don't own a car!"

The Price of FreedomScripture Reading: Mark 5:6-17
The people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
Mark 5:17
After Jesus freed a man from demon possession, the people of the town saw two things: a man clothed and in his right mind, and a herd of two thousand pigs drowned in the sea. Fear captured their hearts. They responded by pleading with Jesus to go away. It is a sad commentary when a society is more concerned about economic interests than seeing their brothers and sisters in their right minds.
Are we any different? Are we passionate about sharing with others the good news of God’s love for us all? Is making disciples a priority for us and our church community? Or are we too afraid of the economic and social cost? Discipleship has a cost that some are not willing to pay.
Fear caused the people of the town to ask Jesus to leave. They may well have been thinking, “If it cost two thousand pigs to restore one madman, what will it cost to have Jesus do more in our town?â€
One rescued life is priceless. It is exhilarating. God’s kingdom has advanced where hell had a foothold. The light has pierced the darkness.
What has it cost Jesus to save us? What are we willing to do so that people can be saved? Where can we make change happen?
Lord Jesus, thank you for the great love you showed for the afflicted man who needed your help. Thank you for dying in our place to pay for our sin. Help us to be willing to pay the price of following you into the life of freedom. In your name, Amen.

Good morning everyone.
Nice and cool here this morning and no humidity!!! I need to waltz with the vacuum and since I don't want the mop to be put out,so I will waltz with it too. Started on another quilt last night and want to work on that too today.
Joan ,thank you for breakfast.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Joan, Everyfriends, good Monday morning......
A new week for all, lets see what mischief we can get up to......
I already started mine.....I knew we had a Toby pet-grooming session booked for today, but somehow I misread our appointment time for 11.30, still in dressing gown and dish of fruit and porridge in hand, phone rang, pet groomer asking why we wasn't there.....this was at 9.45am, saying our app was for 9.30.....So a nice little timing mix up on my part after I sent R to go check the time I had written on my wall calendar, then sending my apologies down the phone.....Of course now she is fully booked up, not only the time slot after my proper today app, but taking a school holiday week off for next week, she had told me that when I made my app booking some weeks ago but....luck had it, groomer can fit us in next Thursday, after I had told her, Toby is not ready yet, he can go another week....
Joan......
....I like our " thought of the day..."
Good morning, Amy. After you waltz with the vacuum and the mop, you're going to be tired and needing a nap.:) It's already hot here and very high humidity.
Good morning, Vanilla-Jackie. Oops--missed the appointment for grooming. Lucky that she can work you in next Thursday.
My housekeepers come this morning, so I have a bit of picking up to do.
Good Morning Everyfriend! It's a glorious day today! I slept well last night and I'm ready to meet whatever the day has to offer.
Of course, I've helped the day's offerings along. I have a box of tomatoes to begin canning this morning. I got them at the Farmers Market yesterday. I got there a bit before closing and I got a good price on them...one more they didn't have to pack up and take home. So that's my activity for the day. One more ingredient for my veggie soup in October.
I hope you all have a wonderful day today! And I hope all your dr. appts bring good news!
Good morning everyone, just heard on the local news that today we will have a break, no storms and lower humidity but still hot. Storms will be back tomorrow. After having no thunderstorms for 2 years we sure have got enough the last few days.
JOAN I just delete those Microsoft emails. If everyone has been getting them I might believe them.
PATRICIA I have not downloaded anything recently and just my regular toolbars. Thank you. Odd thing is the only plugin that works is the filters unlimited.
JANE glad you had good news yesterday about what has been worrying you. I am happy for you.
GLORIA de today is supposed to be less humid but still hot. Hope I can get out this morning to get some fresh air before it gets too hot.
HAL we finally got rain here but with loud boomers and some lightening strikes. Have no idea how much rain we got but 3 days of some pretty hard rain at times. My windows right now are dirty. Will wash them when these storms are over. At least there is no flooding here.
JACKIE do you think that could have been the space station going over high up with the morning sun catching that light?
JOAN oh boy I get a lemon DD this morning. Just the thing to perk me up. Of course I will save a couple for the other Gloria. Chuckles-homeless with big tastes. We sure don't know what goes on in peoples minds. The Price of Freedom still comes with a price. Good quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.
AMY like you I am enjoying this morning with the humidity gone for at least one day.
JANE local tomatoes are just coming in. Being late at the Farmer's market worked to your advantage pricewise.
Good morning, Janie. You got lucky at the Farmer's Market. I am sure the veggie soup you make in October is delicious.
Gloria--Good morning. It would be nice to have a cooler, less humid day, but that won't happen here until at least late October. There's plenty of the lemon DDs so have all you desire.
Gloria....
....I did do a check on that, I looked up the space stations, but no, nothing was due over our home area at that time...Space stations were due several hours earlier or late evening....and they were going to be " dim..."
What I saw was a yard long orange-gold, very neat line, trailing gracefully through the clear sky...not even a cloud in sight..
Ha ha, where is my camera when I need it?
Hi everyone. Another clear day with virtually no chance of rain. Only two things on my schedule for today. The first is to attend my noon meeting and then at 4 pm Pat has another chiropractic appointment. She can hardly move without severe pain and is having to use the walker to get around.
Yesterday we had a very nice surprise when the doorbell rang and it was our kind neighbor's across the street bringing us a small ham, some steamer vegetables that re fixed in the microwave and a pecan pie. So the main structure of our evening meal is set. I may fix a salad. We have some mushrooms in the refrigerator that I need to get fixed for Pat. She said they are easy to fix.
Joan, the cost of mailing is sometimes exceeding the cost of the item. Pat spent another night in her chair in order to get some sleep.
June, good to see you were feeling better yesterday and hope today will be the same for you. I started the Kuerig coffee make yesterday without a cup under the dispenser. Fortunately, I reacted quickly enough that it hadn't started to dispense so had no mess to clean up. Perhaps Mr. Coffee was getting too hot in the heat out there and just needed to cool down.
JaneS, so happy that you can shed some "happy tears" regarding your granddaughter. I hope what the man told you will help set your mind at ease. I learned many years ago to never give up on our loved ones, even during the darkest times. Where there is life there is always hope. Nice to see you cheerful. Sometimes all we can do is pray and love them and let them live their own lives.
Jackie, I think Pat does sleep well in her easy chair. However, the pain when she moves or tries to get up appears to be the very sharp and causes her to cry out. I am glad I am still around to help her.
deAngel, sure hope your medical appointment today is early this morning before the heat becomes too intense.
Gloria, nice to read you will get a break in your weather. I find a quick Google search on things like the Microsoft emails usually confirms my suspicions. I read yesterday that Microsoft is shortening the 30 roll back to Windows 7 from Windows 10 from the previous 30 days.
Good morning, Larry. I feel so bad that Pat is always in so much pain, unless she's in her chair. I pray the medical professionals can find some relief for her. How nice of your neighbors to bring you such a lovely dinner. The cost of mailing, in this case, didn't exceed the cost of the items. It was a very expensive Kate Spade briefcase and contained her new iPad, some expensive jewelry and misc. items she used at Sonic's BOD meeting in Oklahoma.
Good Morning all, breathing seems to be a bit difficult this morning. My body wants to breathe through the mouth but that is a no-no. I will quit wondering about it and get on with life. I got back to my morning routine of prayers and exercises, after four days of neglect. Not an easy task, but essential.
So far everyone sounds pretty chipper, and that is an encouragement for sure.
I have no plans at all for today, one step at a time. I would like to get down for lunch, but we shall see what the body agrees with.
It is after 9 a.m. and bed is not made.....so off I go. Back later.
June--Lately your breathing seems to be difficult. Do you think having oxygen would help that?
Good morning everyone from the Interior and another partly cloudy day with no rain expected. Saturday was also cloudy, but the temperatures reached into the low eighties. I still have paperwork and a grocery trip to fit into today as well as other small errands.
Farrah has made a point of letting me know she wants my attention. She isn't shy about sitting next to me and reaching up to tap my leg or arm and speak to me. I only wish I understood her. It is not food or drink or playing or being picked up that she wants. I'm at a loss. I've even wondered if certain computer sounds bother her ears?
Jackie, I've thought about your sighting and wonder if it was a drone as they are becoming increasingly common. It could also have been a type of model airplane as some of them have become quite technical. There is also space debris and comets and that sort and perhaps with sunlight glinting off the object?
My small planter, balcony greenhouse fell over last evening without a seeming cause. My neighbor from below came up to see what had happened as she said there was a loud sound when it fell. We spent some time untangling the plants, shelves, and plastic and redistributing the dirt back among the plants; I will need to find a cabinet or shelves this month to bring them back inside and keep them away from Farrah.
Angelface, maybe Farrah is simply saying "Thank you for loving me and for treating me kindly and for being the kind of person I can love back."
Bis,my Dr. seems to feel the shortness of breath is due to all the b.p. meds I need to take. I don't know, but lately I just feel all worn out and tired. I'm going down for lunch soon. Maybe that will help to just get my mind off myself for while.
June. People say that their BP meds make them so tired for the first few hours after taking. Have you tried taking them before you go to bed at night? Is yours High or Low? Did you tell him about your breathing.? See if giving you the right kind. Worry about your health is the number one thing of messing up BP.
/
Jane, I wish that were it. I can be typing along or working on an internet class or doing PSP, and I will feel a quick tap or two. I look down, and she sits looking back at me and then starts to say "ER -wah" or something similar. I get up, and she waits to see what direction I'm going. I wonder if she's bored?
June, I would check with your doctor about that. Sometimes we don't want to make a fuss or think it isn't a big deal when it could be a huge deal! I have low blood pressure, anemia, and other health issues and have felt faint and even passed out momentarily if I remain sitting or lying down for a long time. Don't forget to tell your doctor.
I have 7 beautiful quarts of tomatoes sitting on my counter and one more (almost) quart in the freezer. There is enough for the veggie soup with a couple left over to make tomato soup when I'm ready.
And I've had a short nap and I'm going to walk down to the corner to the mail box and see if the I won the PCH. Oh right, they knock on the door. Oh well, maybe I'll get something interesting.
June, I agree with the others...you need to let your dr. know what's happening. Maybe the meds are too strong or there's something else you can take that won't react that way.
I hope Everyfriend is having a lovely day!
Jackie, someone mentioned drone being what you saw. One dark night, I saw a single red light going south in a straight line. It was not flashing as a light on a plane would flash. The light stopped for a few seconds then continued on its way, turned left, then turned north and after that I lost track of it. I wondered if it was a drone but I am the only one who saw it so I really don't know.
I take a BP med, Toprol XL. At first I took 1 1/2 pills (150 mg) because to take 200 mg would make me light headed. Several years later, a doctor suggested I take two 100 mg pills but take one in the morning and one at night. That has given me no problem. I do not feel the BP med has made me extra tired. I do get tired, but I think my age has something to do with it.
I'm drooling over your canned tomatoes, Jane.
Mary Ann
Angelface--Janie is probably right about what Farrah is saying.
June--I am no medical professional and your doctor knows best.
JeanneP--I have to take my BP med both morning and night.
Janie--Must be a good feeling to see all those tomatoes canned.
Mary Ann--I, too, take Toprol. Take it like you do.
Larry, you might ask your doctor about Pat using a Lidocaine patch on her body where she is having the pain. The doctor prescribed them for my back and they work. You can only wear them for 12 hours and then off for 12 hours. It is an anesthetic https://www.drugs.com/cdi/lidocaine-patch.html (https://www.drugs.com/cdi/lidocaine-patch.html) The druggist told me that the meds continues to work even though you remove it after 12 hours and in some cases even works better.....that's what he said.
I could be convinced it was just a passenger plane, a plane too small to even see, if someone can convince me that a passenger plane, even one that is very high up can move with an orange-gold trail instead of its usual grey-white trail moving along behind it....In the meantime I shall keep an open mind as to drone, seeings I have never seen a drone in action in the sky....Most plane vapour trails get longer before they fizzle out, this line kept to the same length as it moved along, all of its journey, and the Orange-gold trail did not evaporate....This object-plane moved smoothly and slowly along in a straight line...
Janie, in my youth I can remember the older folks taking a pint jar of canned tomatoes and opening them and eating them with just crackers. Haven't seen anyone do it for ages.
A good Monday afternoon, to EVERYFRIEND.
Up and out the door early so we could get to Dave and Michele's to see the children off for school. I am SO thankful and pleased to report that Michele's colonoscopy went very well and the surgeon was so happy with everything that she will not have to have another one for 2 years. Normally after cancer they want a follow up yearly. Her whole cancer issue started a year ago.....we are so thankful to our good Lo d that she is doing so well now. Again, it is a good time to thank you all for your continued thoughts and prayers.
Speaking of answered prayers....JANE, I am sure happy that you got good news and you bet prayers are answered, and so I will continue to say them not only for your granddaughter but for you and the family as well.
JOAN, now all I want to know is, did,the briefcase arrive safely in Fairhope? Thank you for our goodies today.
LARRY, how nice of your neighbor to bring over a nice home cooked meal for you nod Pat. It is good that Pat can get relief from the pain by sleeping in her recliner. Please give her my best.
JACKIE, Bob and I have talked about your streak in the sky and have pretty much said all the thing that have been mentioned so far. Sadly, I doubt that you will ever find out for sure what it was. We both thought the space station was the best possibility....but you say the timing was not good. Who knows?
HAL, the best to your family with all the doctor appointments. We talked to son Brian in Austin and he is getting a lot of rain.....when it rains there they always get at least a couple of inches or more...he lives on a hill, thank goodness, so flooding is never an issue.
I wish you all a good afternoon or evening.
Jenny
If no one else reported seeing it, guess I am by myself... ;)... I doubt if I will ever see it again, so as they say...." ignorance is bliss.." ...But it did look good up in that sky all by itself....
Jenny.....
....a tough time last year for Michelle, so glad this is a year further down the line, and all her last year health problems are now left behind where they belong....in the past...
JeanneP. Thank for you concern my friend. My blood pressure runs very high so I take three different meds for it, one of them twice a day, and it keep the pressure at a higher than normal rate, but better than badly high. Plus I take nitro twice a day, Plus some other pills for various illnesses. I don't worry about my health..I put myself in
God's hands and go about my business as much as possible
Bis, all chest X-rays are fine, lungs seem to be clear, so it must be the meds..God is in charge, thankfully.
Patricia, I talk to my doctor very easily. She is a good and intelligent listener. I think we are bound to have various ills as we age.
Janie, thank you. I think I think too much, must keep telling myself to take life as it comes and be thankful.
Hal, my mom used to put bread cubes in her canned tomatoes , when she heated them for a meal. Plus a big hunk of butter, salt and pepper.
I had a good lunch downstairs, brought half of it home for supper. I pay for three meals a day, but one big lunchtime takes care of what I want to eat. I always bring home fresh fruit, bread, cereals, ice cream, mllk, so I make up for skipping the two meals.
Tomorrow I see my podiatrist at the ungodly hour of 8 a.m. I hope I remember to dress appropriately. I usually wander half asleep till about 9 a.m. even when i wake at 6 a.m. ho hum…………
Hal, I hope you got good news from your doctor today.
halkel--I am glad to hear those patches work for you.
Vanilla-Jackie--It's a mystery.
Jenny--Nice you could see your grands off to their first day of school. Finlay's first day was today, too. The package is due to arrive tomorrow. Praise God for Michelle's good report.
June--Your doctor knows best about your meds and health. You'll have to set your alarm to be up, gilded and at your early appointment tomorrow.:)
I'm have to say this. Please forgive me! It's been running through my mind ever since I read Jackie's account of her sighting. You have to know that I'm kidding but I have to say it. JACKIE, IT WAS A UFO! ;) Wasn't there a comedian who used to say "The devil made me do it?" Well, I thought this up all by myself! Now, Everyone LAUGH!
June, my eye doctor appointment went okay, don't have to go back for six months.
My Primary Care doctor sent me an EMail today wanting me to repeat my blood test of last week. One of the "ingredients" was abnormal. So I will go back tomorrow morning and let them stick me again.
Jackie, I suspect what you saw was a jet at 40 thousand feet or so and the sun was shinning on the contrail. Sun always highlights things at high altitude when i is rising or setting and it is still/getting dark here on the ground. Check again some morning about same time in same direction.
Thank you everyone for rejoicing with me and for continuing your prayers. We're not out of the woods by a long shot but we're on the way!
Jenny, hallelujah for Michelle! What progress for only a year! She will stay in my prayers, too! Because He does care for us!
June, your attitude is what drives you! All I can ask for myself is to share that attitude. You know what you want your life to be and you keep your direction. You are YOU! I want to be ME!
I forgot who said it but my grandparents used to put chunks of bread and cheese in the canned tomatoes when they heated them. I never liked them when I was little and I fished out as much bread and cheese and as few tomatoes as possible. They let me get away with it because I didn't complain.
It's almost time to get back to the Olympics. Enjoy your evening Everyfriend!
Bis, you are so correct..we have to listen to and trust our doctor, and I really like this lady
Janie, I remember it was a little colored comedian that would say, "the devil made me do it", I really like this fellow and he made me laugh heartily. I have forgotten his name. I have used his statement to excuse myself for some foolishness too. I'm laughing…….
Hal, congratulations on your eye tests, and I hope your blood test proves the same. It was a blood test that put me in the hospital a few months back..low potassium and low sodium count. So they I.V.'d some back into my system.
Janie, I think there is a song by that title, "I want to be me"..I'll have to check it out.
I thing that is enough out of me for the day. I've had my supper, so I'll go do the teeth, wash the face and go to bed and read. Enjoy your evening dear hearts. I love you all. Rest in Peace while God watches over you. Hugs. June
Jane S.....
....I am with you, I am waiting for them to come cart me away.... ;D
I looked up your comedian, have to admit I am not familiar with the name but....Flip Wilson.....
Halkel.......
....spotted a plane, almost same position this morning but 20 minutes later, its trail was the usual white and trailing out longer as it went....
Good Tuesday morning, Everyfriend. There's Eggs Benedict to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a great day!!:smitten:
CHUCKLES
TattooAs an obstetrician, I sometimes see unusual tattoos when working in labor and delivery. One patient had some type of fish tattoo on her abdomen. "That sure is an unusual looking whale," I commented.
With a sad smile she replied, "It used to be a dolphin."
Food For Thought
The Brevity of Life
(By Alan Smith) The court jester was overcome with grief. His world was at an end! For a long time he had served the Caliph at Baghdad and his court, keeping them amused whenever they called upon him. But in a moment of thoughtlessness he had displeased his ruler who had ordered that he be put to death.
"However," said the Caliph, "in consideration of the merry jests you've told me all these years, I will let you choose how you are to die."
"O most generous Caliph," replied the jester, "if it's all the same to you, I choose death by old age!"
I suppose, if given a choice, that's the choice all of us would make. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately), though, that choice is not ours to make. We know (all too well) the fragile nature of life. And perhaps it is for the best. If we were guaranteed 90 years on this earth, we would be mighty tempted to wait until the last year or so to get serious about God (just like putting off those term papers in college!). With a realization of the uncertainty of life, we recognize the need to be prepared at all times.
"LORD, make me to know my end, and what is the measure of my days, that I may know how frail I am. Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths, and my age is as nothing before You; Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor." (Psa. 39:4-5).
May you be prepared for the joys that await those who are prepared when this life is over!
Thought of the Day
"There comes a time when we all must realize that life is short, and in the end the only thing that really counts is not how others see us, but how God sees us. For the believer there is hope beyond the grave, because Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven for us by His death and resurrection."
- Billy Graham, speaking at Richard Nixon's funeral

Good morning everyone.
The weather guesser says we are in for a storm today...just hope it is rain and nothing more! Not a lot on the agenda today, just helping a friend this morning then I hope to do more sewing.
Hal ,glad your eye report was good and hope your blood test comes back good too!
Jenny, that year seemed to fly by fast!!
Joan, thank you for breakfast
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good Morning Everyfriend! I'll be off to Wally World to greet my public this morning. Wish me smiles!
I wish you all a day full of whatever pleases you. We are to have some more rain today. Things are beginning to look green again.
Have a great day at work today Jane...
Good morning, Amy. How nice of you to help a friend.
Janie--Good morning. Please send some of that rain my way. I wish you smiles at work.
Don't know when I've posted but thought I'd come & whine this morning. I've had a flu bug or some horrible tummy ache for 4 days, my daughter mentioned her "Crohn's was acting up" while here & her oldest son's was, too.. he also has had the Crohn's surgery.... and since we were all at his & wife's house to see the new baby (took all the food & everything so they didn't have to get out).... I surmised my problem wasn't something I ate but a "bug". Seems the kids also had tummy problems and they didn't eat any of the steak & gravy or turkey noodles ....
Hal, good news about the eyes & you brought up a memory of my father eating some fresh canned tomatoes with crackers.... had not thought about that in years. He absolutely loved it.... and Mom would make him a bowl of sliced onions with vinegar (I think) that he would just purr as he ate the two things together.
Didn't take notes but I do remember Flip Wilson.... about the only comedian I really enjoyed. So many comedians had to be insulting or "talk dirty" to be funny & I didn't think either was funny. Something about him reminded me of my "middle" brother (had 3)... how he rolled his eyes when thinking of some ornery deed to pull. One routine where he talked about wearing out his little turtle trying to get it to race across the room.... remember those little toys you'd press down on to get the spring wound up & let it go & it would zoom across the room?... and I could picture a poor little turtle being rubbed back & forth to make it go.... was funny at the time but I felt sorry for the turtle & stuck in my mind all these years since.
I agree with all that the year is flying by but not fast enough for me.... has been the worst summer since the heat of 1954... humidity like we've never had in Kansas. Haven't had the month of over 100 degrees like one year but didn't have the high humidity then (of course, I was about 40 years younger, too). Think that must have been in the late '60s or '70s.
Larry, I sympathize with Pat... those pinched nerves can feel like an abscessed tooth. Had that so many years but thankfully not for about 30 since I took an afternoon off & soaked my back with Epsom salts for at least a couple hours. I was bent over for more than a month when we lived in the KC area, had been to the doctor & to a chiropractor, doctor recommended bed & stretching plus muscle relaxers & chiropractor wouldn't touch it after seeing the X-rays. When I saw a poor little old lady in a store window as I was crossing a street, realized it was ME as I got closer... I decided I'd give the soak a try, it had already cured a brown spider bite for me not long before. My mother was a firm believer in chiropractors & I went now & then after being thrown from horses or just being a dare-devil tomboy.... sliding into first base or something equally un-lady-like. Hope Pat finds relief soon, coming up with meals 3 times a day is a chore, isn't it?
Been sitting here an hour... little more, so better go feed cats. Won't be long they will be wanting in & out when it turns cold. Right now they go out after a "midnight snack"... about 10:00 pm and don't come in until I open the door from 6-8:00 am.
Patricia, you are probably right about Farrah needing another cat friend. LaurenKat still pretends she doesn't like Tom & Tiger but she wants to be where ever they are. She hisses at them & slaps at Tom... Tiger just falls to the floor when Lauren says something to her.... but when they get scared in the RV I find all 3 hiding together in a space under the end of the bed. She looks for them at home & waits for them to go in or out, of course, they have to let her go in or out first! I know she would rather have her old life back when Cas carried her around all the time and when he sat down, she was on his lap, snuggled under his arm. Tom & Tiger never liked to be held like she does. "The only child" does get more attention. ;)
Good Morning everyone.
well I have been reading but too much going on to do much posting, yesterday we worked the Bees and roped one super of honey off of them on one swarm and moved another swarm into a new 10 frame hive. they settled right into there new home like the had always been there. we are going to spin the honey off today and bottle it. we are going to get some fancy honey jars and give some to children and grand's for Christmas, Have a great day.
Lloyd
Good morning everyone, the humidity is returning today. Yesterday was great, spent most o the day outside. Felt great to do that.
JOAN wish you would get a break in the heat and humidity there. Forecast for today is more thunderstorms late afternoon and a possible weak tornado. Now that is an unusual thing to hear here.
LARRY I hope the chiropractor can help Pat. Being in so much pain as she is cannot make life pleasant. You have a good neighbor to bring that meal to you. I will stick to 7, have had enough with this PC to try something different.
PATRICIA maybe wants you to play with her? Just a thought. She does not sound like any of the other cats you have had.
JANE Nothing like home canned tomatoes for a good taste for what they are used for later. I was thinking a UFO, too.
JOAN thank you for all today's goodies.
SHIRLEY you and me are the only ones looking forward to cold weather.
Gloria, Shirley.....
......please dont leave me out of your group, you know I am not a lover of " hot..."...
....Autumn isn't far away, July's and August's are not my favourite months, but roll on mid-end of September I will then be more in my comfort zone....
Good morning, Shirley. Sorry you've been "under the weather". You aren't alone in having an unusually hot and humid summer. Of course, FL is hotter than KS, but we've broken all sorts of records for high temps and humidity.
Lloyd--Good morning. Good luck with the bees. Honey will make a nice Christmas gift.
Good morning, Gloria. I wouldn't mind a thunderstorm if it was combined with lots of rain, but I sure don't want a tornado.
Vanilla-Jackie--It's been way too hot here this summer, but I don't want freezing cold either.
Joan.....
....I often ask myself, " how did I once live in the Caribbean?..."
Good Morning all. Had a good nights sleep...still sleepy though, but I have been up since six, got all the "usuals" taken care of, now enjoying coffee and all of you.
Yes, Jackie, it was Flip Wilson. He was what I called a "cute" comedian. Could make one laugh just being himself, or "Geraldine" as he adapted as one of his skits.
I will be going down for my podiatrist at 8:30, do I had better stir my stumps and get things in order. See you..........
Vanilla-Jackie--Apparently you tolerated the heat better then.
Good morning, June. I am about to the point where I need a podiatrist. It's getting hard for me to do the toenails.
Hi everyone. Another very warm and soon to be hot day here in South Carolina.
I just returned from a quick trip to COSTCO for a few items, including getting the car filled with gas. We will not be going hungry. I took advantage of the riding cart this morning and it made the shopping enjoyable and didn't leave me exhausted.
The morning chores have been completed and I fixed scrambled eggs with ham, cheese and green onion for Pat's breakfast. She still is in a lot of pain but was able to get some sleep in her easy chair. She has now taken a pain pill and a muscle relaxant so I expect she will do quite a bit of dozing off during this day. I have no other plans requiring me to leave the house the rest of the day.
Patricia, it sounds like Farrah just wants to be the center of attention and when you are working on the computer she is feeling slighted.
Hal, I will mention that to Pat and I am pretty sure she has used some in the past. I know my deceased DIL used many of the patches over the years to try to control the pain from the AVN she suffered.
Jackie, I wouldn't think a drone would leave any trail as it would be solar or battery powered. I don't know much about drones so perhaps they have some that are powered with fossil fuel.
Jenny, great news about Michele and her recovery from the cancer. The meal our neighbor's brought over wasn't home cooked as it was a nice Hormel Cure 81 ham, a package of Steamer Vegetables and a pecan pie from the store. They were much appreciated and gave us a good meal last night and there is a lot of ham and pie left over.
June, medicines can do some bad things to us as they try to help us. One of the blood pressure medicines Pat took for awhile caused her to cough a lot. A change was made and the cough ceased.
JaneS, wasn't it Flip Wilson's Geraldine character who would say "the devil made me do it"? I see Jackie looked it up for us and Shirley confirms the matter. I always liked Flip Wilson.
Shirley, that does sound like the flu with others having the same problem.
Joan, I have used a podiatrist twice since I moved here and will continue to do so. However, I am not liberated enough to go for the nail polish. :)
Good Morning Everyone!
Well just got back from the vampire and blood letting. For some reason he used a butterfly instead of regular needle so it took a couple of minutes to get the required amount of blood.
The wife is at the doctors too. Her tummy is still acting up. I think it is a bug going round.
Jackie, maybe the sun/airplane was not at the same angle to get the golden look.
Have you seen the email where a water fall looks like fire instead of water when sun gets at a certain angel. https://www.google.com/search?q=waterfall+of+fire&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi14521pMbOAhUDQiYKHWUyBcYQsAQIHQ&biw=1056&bih=419 (https://www.google.com/search?q=waterfall+of+fire&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi14521pMbOAhUDQiYKHWUyBcYQsAQIHQ&biw=1056&bih=419)
Larry, hope you find something for Pat.
Back later.
Larry--Good you can use the cart at COSTCO and not get so exhausted. I sure pray that Pat somehow can get relief from her pain. Ha, Ha about the toe nail polish. I am lucky to get the nails cut--forget polishing them.
halkel--Hope you and your wife get to feeling better. Are you doing the cooking?
I think we are going to have a cooler day today. Maybe a little more rain. got plenty yesterday. I got caught in it at the grocery store. got wet but didn't care. Felt good.
June. You sound more chipper today. Good. Just watch your feeling and get checked up on least little thing. Prevention beats the cure they say.
Think will do a few things around the house today. Still no ironing done.
Count me in on those who don't care for the hot weather. But then, I don't like the really cold weather either. I've always said that Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. I'm pretty sure that when I was little, the only good things about summer were NO SCHOOL, swimming, roller skating, climbing the big tree in the back yard, bike riding and wading in the creek. Oh yes, staying up later, too.
Everyone was happy at WM today. For the next couple of weeks, we should be fairly busy with Little League. The LL World Series begins in Williamsport (right up the road) on Thursday and the big parade and opening ceremonies are tomorrow night. The only time I ever attended games was when Lewisburg had a team in the series. That would have been about 1951. The boys were all in my kid sister's class and she wanted to see every game they played. That was the year I got my driver's license and they actually trusted me to drive my sister and 3 of her friends to the games. We all survived!
Have a nice afternoon! We're going to get some hard thunderstorms so the doggies will stick to me like glue.
JeanneP--I wish we'd get some of that rain.
Janie--Nice that everyone was happy at WM. One year when we lived in NY, Ray took Joe to the Little League World Series. Here we don't really have seasons that change--one season is pretty much like the others.
Joanie, we got rain all day yesterday. Nice light rain, about two inches here at my house and now just starting to rain again. But heavy with boomers in the area. My lawn guy came by earlier and finished up the yard. Got through just in time.
And Joanie, can you believe the high yesterday was 76 in August. Set a record and today it is cool.
Hooray for the unpredictable Texas weather......
Please send me some of that rain and some of the cooler weather, too.
 I 've been blowing as hard as I can this whole summer! Is it working yet?
Angel, is that you blowing the wind down here????? :)
Jane: I am so happy for your great news. It sounds like a real worry is canceled.
We are having a houseful Sunday afternoon and I have started the detail cleaning ****** Really do not like blinds to clean, it takes so long and then a nap started calling me so tomorrow is another day like this one.
:)
If you're trying to send that rain to Florida, Angelface, I think you might be blowing in the wrong direction. I'm not complaining, mind you, but we're sure getting a lot of rain lately. Maybe you should try blowing out another window.
Carol, you are right! A prayer has been answered. God sends his angels in many different disguises. It's up to us to recognize them. And He DOES answer prayers if we are patient and trust Him.
I'm going to go off to bed early tonight so I'm going to say...
Good Night Everyfriend! Sleep peacefully and may God bless us, Every one.
Came home from lunch, tired out just from eating and visiting. So I took a long, long, nap. woke several times from weird dreams and went back to sleep again both times. Really felt strange. Hope it wasn't the food, as I am having the left overs for supper tonight.
I'm having grocery delivery tomorrow between 11 and 3. They usually arrive around noon, but I will be up and around and getting more rest, so all is well.
Bis, you and I are evidently having a similar climate, except you get more humidity. Since I moved here I find it is not near as, dry as Hemet was, so I can feel the humidity. I will adjust though. Being nearer my kids. Being nearer to Gary and Dori, and all the added benefits I receive for cared for living it is worth a bit of humidity. I am still considered "independent", so rent is less than those that need assistance,
I sure hope our Jeanne Lee is doing o.k. I worry about her. I don't know if she has any family nearby, or not. She was such a kind and patient helper when I was a "newby",
I have finished my supper of taco chicken salad and it tasted so good. I hope my stomach accepts it gracefully. If not, I will have unhappily learned something.
Good night my Janie, and all else if I don't have something to contribute later. I love you all. June
Joanie, if I can figure out how to box it and ship it, I will send some of the rain/cooler temps you way. Weather guy said we have a week more of "possible" rain and cooler temps. But like June, all this rain has made our humidity go off the charts. Since the sun has gone down he rain has gone away. Will return with the Sun tomorrow. When I say cooler temps I am talking high 80's or low 90's.
June I am in the same boat with you. Seems all I want to do today is lay on the couch and doze. I am getting where I must twist and turn all night, I woke up the other night and was cold and tried to pull some covers up but they were tangled like everything. So I had to get up, turn the light on and make my bed, seems every morning I have been fighting in the bed, what a mess.
Jane S.....
.....you just reminded me of another couple of my late fathers often words...." a blessing in disguise..." and... " angels come in many disguises..."
Junedrabek......
.......I was inquisitive to see what all the fuss was about Flip Wilson, so tuned into Youtube, and just watched a clip of...." Ugly Baby..." ;D
.........................................
Talking of sleep patterns.....I am now finding I go to bed much later than I used to do, I can go to my bed at near midnight, then wake up and get up around the same time each morning, 5.30'ish....This morning I got up just before 5am to let our Benji out.....and I haven't gone back to bed....Now I can understand why I doze off so much during the day, and for so long, I even doze off when at the computer, can be any time of the day...and sometimes more than once....then come midnight, I am wide awake, till I drop off at 1am after reading a little....
Good Wednesday morning, Everyfriend. There's a full breakfast to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!:smitten:

IndependenceBrenda had been stressing the importance of independence to her granddaughter, Shila, 7, while they were waiting for the 4th of July fireworks to begin.
She felt she had made her point until Shila thoughtfully said, "You know Nana, you can live without your independence. Amber's doctor took out her independence and she's still living."

Marriage Reflecting God’s Character Scripture Reading: Psalm 45:1-7
God has blessed you forever. . . . Ride forth victoriously in the cause of truth, humility and justice . . . .
Psalm 45:2-4
Marriages today are so easily ended. Divorce has become routine. Breaking relationships designed to last a lifetime results in many broken hearts and homes.
Psalm 45 is written as a wedding song for a king. The first several verses describe a king who rules with integrity and justice, reflecting God’s character.
This mighty ruler is clothed with splendor and majesty. He is called “the most excellent of men.†His lips are “anointed with grace,†meaning that his speech is life-giving, gentle, and kind. God is the commander of this man’s life; he recognizes God’s anointing of grace and of joy. He loves righteousness and hates wickedness, revealing his heart to be in tune with God’s heart. He seeks truth, humility, and justice.
I want to challenge the men who are reading these words to take note that God and his Word must be central in our lives. If anything is out of line, we must be truthful and humble to seek God’s direction in setting it right. Have we dropped our guard and allowed anything unwholesome to intrude? If we are married, are we giving up the fight and deserting our wives and families?
Let’s look to the Lord for guidance in our relationshipsâ€"¬especially in marriage and family relationships. He alone can help us.
Father, thank you for all your blessings, and guide us to live for you in truth, humility, and justice. If we have fallen short, forgive us and restore us, in Christ, to live for you. Amen.
Thought of the Day
“Be soft. Do not let the world make you hard. Do not let the pain make you hate. Do not let the bitterness steal your sweetness. Take pride that even though the rest of the world may disagree, you still believe it to be a beautiful place.â€

Good morning
We are off to the city for an appointment for dh then meet up with daughter in love to go to the chocolate factory and quilt shop.
Yesterday was a day of lovely rain, now the lawns are not as crispy and turning a beautiful green again,I don't know if this rain came in time to help the farmer or not.
Joan, thank you for breakfast
Enjoy your day everyone..
Good morning, Amy. Yummy, a trip to the chocolate factory and of course, a stop at the quilt shop. Enjoy your time with your daughter in love.
It's going to be another hot and humid day here. I must get out and do some errands. I'll go early to beat the worst heat of the day.
Good Morning Everyfriend! The rain has stopped here but not before the grass turned green and the ground has softened. It's going to be cloudy today and therefore, not as hot as the weather we've been having.
Amy, take a bite of chocolate for me. We have a small chocolate factory in this area that's been in business here for almost a hundred years. They use to be located about a half block from the local high school and many of us found our way there on our lunch hour or on the way home after school. They have since located the factory about 10 miles north of here but they still maintain a retail store on the main street in town. I tend to avoid them because I spend too much money and I eat too much chocolate.
I'll be off to Wally World this morning. Because of the Farmers Market, Wednesdays are always busy. People shop the Farmers Market and then make a stop at WM. I like the busy days the best....lots of people and time flys.
I hope you all have a lovely day filled with what you love best.
Joan, I will leave some chocolate and Chelsea buns in the hidey hole for everyone to enjoy.
Jane check the hidey hole.....have a great day at work.
Janie--Good morning. Too bad that chocolate factory moved.:) I know what you mean about time going faster at work when you are busy.
Amy--Thank you, thank you. I will check the hidey hole for chocolate and Chelsea buns.
Good morning everyone.
we got our honey extracted and the bounty was 9 &1/2 quart's. we are going to get some fancy jars and make presents of some of it. Have a great day everyone.
Lloyd
Good Morning from the
Rocky Coast of Maine.. It is going
to be in the high 70's with low humidity
today.
I am off to spend some time with Kelly..
Talk to you all later.
Sandy
:coolsmiley:
Good morning, Lloyd. 9 1/2 quarts is a lot of honey. I'm sure the recipients of your gifts will appreciate it.
Sandy--Good morning. Enjoy your time with Kelly today.
Bad pinnies returns ,Here I am. good news for us our grand daughter is now a full fledged teacher. she has Ben in training all week and is starting tomorrow has her own room full of students, she is teaching biology . we are all proud.
have a great day.
Lloyd
Congrats. to your granddaughter, Lloyd. She's chosen a difficult career. Being a high school teacher is not an easy job these days.
Sure wish I was on your gift list. I love honey and the best kind is the kind you have. Enjoy.

I do not have enough to match the kindness of my heart but if we get back to PA we will sure bring a small jar of it
Lloyd
Just checking in. Have been so busy this week and another dental appt. this afternoon to go to. Still hot here, too, but trying to just ignore it.
Congratulations to your grand daughter, Lloyd. Wish her well. And I would love to have some of your honey, too. I love local honey and, thankfully, I can find it easily here at the Farmer's Markets. We have a lot of local beekeepers in this area.
Jane, could you drop by and make some soup from these beautiful tomatoes that my neighbor shared with me this week? Please?
Stopped by the French Bakery yesterday afternoon......big mistake! But, I'm eating some delicious and decadent pastries, anyway! So there, too!
Good morning everyone, had a nice surprise yesterday. My now retired son called and asked if I would like to take a ride to a farm. Of course I said yes. We went into Ct. to a place he knows, nice day for a ride. I got some great tomatoes and some just pick apples. Victoria apples, never heard of them before. On the tart side and similar to the taste of a fresh picked Mac. First thing I did when I got home was eat a tomato, oh so good. Hope the weather guesser is right, supposed to get wind turning to the northwest and getting rid of the humidity
JACKIE many do not like summer heat but how many rather have the cold and snow of winter? Shirley and I both like that, do you?
JOAN we did not get the rain here like what was in the forecast. Not even a drop. I would not want a tornado either.
HAL those are quite the pictures of fire waterfalls.
JANE there is a team from here in RI at the LL games.
HAL pretty bad when you fight with the blankets in your sleep. Glad I don't move much because every time I do my back wakes me up.
JOAN I will enjoy a full breakfast this morning. Cute chuckle, the minds of children, right? Thank you for today's goodies.
AMY on local news this morning another town here is limiting outdoor watering. Have a good trip into town.
JOAN hope you make it out and home before it gets too hot.
AMY don't know what a Chelsea bun is but chocolate I sure will check the hidey hole.
LLOYD lucky people who will get some of that honey. Wonderful news about your daughter.
PHYLLIS wish there was a French bakery around here.
I will be looking out, or rather up..to the sky in 20 minutes time to see if I am lucky to see and hear...a Hurricane and a Spitfires plane....then if I am really lucky, in 2 hours and 20 minutes time, The Red Arrows flying display will be passing over from Weymouth Beach, not sure in what direction.....hope I see them all, I shall have camera at ready.....This is to do with the Weymouth Carnival, told it is called " The Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight...."
Hi everyone. We have another clear and warm morning and headed up to 95 degrees this afternoon. I have a relatively quiet day planned with only Pat's chiropractic appointment in the late afternoon and then preparing dinner for Scott on his weekly visit with us. Just two more weeks to go until we will start back with the Wednesday night dinners at church.
I was checking on the cost of the new medicine my cardiologist prescribed called Entresto, which is now being advertised heavily on TV. I was shocked to find that the Walmart cost was about $425 dollar for a 30 day supply. Fortunately I can get it through the mail order pharmacy that Blue Cross/Blue Shield uses and it is $107 for a three month supply. Needless to say I wrote my doctor's office yesterday to call the prescription in to the mail order pharmacy as I will not buy the medicine at Walmart. This takes the cost from $5.99 per day down to $1.17 per day. That is quite a significant difference.
Joan, so far Pat seems a little better this morning as I haven't heard her cry out in pain. So hopefully she is on the right track with these treatments. We could use some more rain also. However, I did remember to turn on the watering system so it will water the yard early tomorrow morning.
Hal, glad you finally got some rain and a very nice day temperature wise. I sure would welcome a cool day, like in the 70's and low humidity.
Patricia, blow a little harder as that cooler weather hasn't reached South Carolina yet.
JaneS, those days when I was working but the work was light it always made the day drag. I must preferred to stay busy and still do, although not too busy anymore.
Lloyd, a very nice accomplishment for your granddaughter. If I recall, biology is usually a higher level class that is more an elective than a requirement for all students. So it is likely she will have students who want to learn.
Phyllis, I have heard that honey produced in our own areas is much more beneficial to us than the store bought type. You are fortunate to have a French Bakery close to you. I have always liked the French bread as well as the pastries.
Gloria, now that your son is retired perhaps you will be able to enjoy more outings with him.
Good Morning Everyone!
Awoke to a very cloudy, dark and damp day. No rain, just very high humidity and a threat of rain in the air. The threat of rain is suppose to start to diminish tomorrow, down to 20 percent. But linger for the four or five days.
Lloyd congratulations are in order for your Granddaughter. She has a long hard job ahead of her. And also on your honey raid. That's lots of honey. Now where did you say that butter and hot biscuits were at? Or if you want a real treat then make yourself some Sopapilla's, puch a hole in the top and fill with fresh honey and EAT......you can't stop with just one. Or a dozen. http://whatscookingamerica.net/CynthiaPineda/Sopapillas/Sopapillas.htm (http://whatscookingamerica.net/CynthiaPineda/Sopapillas/Sopapillas.htm) They are a real treat on a cold day and served hot.
Larry, medicine prices are completely out of control, it seems. I really don't know what happen to business ethics. Profit is necessary to stay in business but trying to gouge, like so many business do now days, is just plain wrong. I know most of my medicines I wouldn't be able to afford without my benefits from the military.
Gloria, I know you enjoyed the trip with your son. I used to love it when just me and my Dad would do something together, especially after I was a grown man and he would tell me lots of family history and "gossip" that I never dreamed would have happened. Funny, not ha-ha funny, how the small things you never thought about can be such joys as we grow older.
Janie, hope you day does fly and you get lots of smiles.
Amy, happy to hear you are getting some much needed rain. My wife was talking to a friend in Boston last night and she was complaining about how dry it is there. Surprised me, I thought the East coast was getting plenty of moisture.
Buy me a treat, pretty please, at the chocolate shop.
Joanie, thanks for the big breakfast. You had to get up early to fix all that.
Jackie, hope you got a front row seat for the aid display.
Halkel....
....no such luck, too far away in the distance.... yet could hear the sound in the distance as it made its journey towards there....Oh I did capture one photo of a plane, part circling, part dive bombing, but on camera you wouldn't be able to distinguish it from a plane to a bird, or even a fly....
I did my errands and then decided to take some time for myself. I called a friend and we went out for a nice breakfast.
Joan, good for you.
Mary Ann
Thanks Mary Ann.
poor little GGD will be entering her first year in kindergarten next week with a broken arm.
They were here for two weeks but on Saturday left fly home to Connecticut making a stop in Indianapolis to stay with friends over night. Had one of the jumping things in their yard. Side gave way and she fell out.spent night and a day in hospital but flew home Monday.
The twins were being separated in school as not to be so noticed but now little brother wants to be with her to take care .
Bis, Thought of the Day, is very inspiring. The world and all that it contains is a beautiful place. We make of it what we hope to see, a creation of God. The Master Builder, for sure.
I had a good nights sleep. Didn't want to get up this morning. But I did it anyway. Took a luke warm shower and felt more human again. Have had a light breakfast, made the bed, and ready to fall asleep again.
Hal, I would love to have a camera automatically take a movie of me some night, so I could view my sleep pattern. I must be very active, because I am sleepy again when I wake up. The mind is a strange organism, and seems to grow stranger with age.
Bis, I'm so glad I no longer have go "out". I do need a trip to the eye doctor, but Gary will do all the arrangements for that and transport me. I still find it very tiring though. Our day started out cloudy which I like but the sun is breaking through now.
I am impatiently awaiting my grocery delivery order. It is so handy to have easy to prepare food on hand for these very frequent days now that I just want, or need, to stay home.
JeanneP--That's too bad that your great granddaughter broke her arm--guessing it was on a trampoline. How sweet that twin brother now doesn't want to be in a different class--so he can take care of her.
June--I still do like to get out, even if it's a hassle. Since I live alone, I don't see many people unless I venture out. Now I hear my couch calling--will try to rest for about half an hour.
Phyllis, hold on! Don't eat all those pastries until I get there to make the tomato soup. I'll be right over!
As you can see, I'm home from work and it was a pretty good day. Lots of nice people and the Freshman are coming into Bucknell University. I do a sort of poll when they come through my line to see how far they've come. I had a bunch of New Jerseys, a couple of NYCs, some NY State's and a few western and southern PAs. Also had a Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia. But my winner for today was Colorado. My all time winner is Ethiopia!
Larry, I've heard that about the honey made closest to where you live is the best for you. Our Farmers Market has a guy who has honey from about 8 miles away almost all year. And it's from all different kinds of plants. I've tried a couple but my favorite is still from clover.
Had my lunch, gave the doggies a snack and chased them out, and now I have to call Beverly. I'll try to be back later. Enjoy your day, Everyfriend.
When I worked at the Alaska Bowl Company before retirement, we sold several different types of local honey. It has many health benefits, health, hair and cosmetically, but the best one, to me, was talking a daily tablespoon to help lessen or stop plant and tree allergies.
This would only work if you used honey that was produced ten miles or less of your location. It makes sense because who would need allergy protection from something not in your area?
I'm going downstairs in a half hour as someone from the University will be here at 11 am to discuss free senior classes available to us. You do not get college credit, just a certificate saying you attended and passed. I may take another class or two. I am only three credits short of a business Masters, but do not want to get back into that particular expensive rat race now!
I had a bit more luck with The Red Arrows...managed to take a couple of good photos as they flew overhead our back garden.....Links......

"Weeks like this, when walking outside feels like swimming through a wall of hot smells and airborne sweat, present a mystery for the 21st-century mind: How, in the days of yore â€" before refrigeration, before electric fans, before air-conditioning â€" did people make it through summer in New York?
The short answer is: A lot of them didn’t. Nearly 1,500 New Yorkers died during a heat wave in 1896, and nearly 700 fell victim to another one in 1901. Hot stretches are still a health hazard, particularly for the elderly and residents of poorer neighborhoods â€" there were roughly 600 heat deaths in the city each year between 2000 and 2006, and experts predict climate change will cause that number to soar in the coming decades â€" but the conveniences of modern life mean they’re not as dangerous as they used to be. Air conditioners became fixtures in public spaces in the 1930s and spread to private homes throughout the middle part of the 20th century. The risk of heat death has steadily dropped in conjunction with AC’s rise"

Jackie, you got some very sharp pictures of the Red Arrow planes.
Mary Ann
I remember reading more than once about the many deaths in Chicago because of the heat - to people who were too poor to have fans or were afraid to go to shelters because of the fact someone might steal their meager possessions. And I guess those types of people still exist in large cities where they are unnoticed until they die. Probably also in smaller towns but more people know each other in smaller towns.
Mary Ann
I was lucky to take those, as the speed they were going and not knowing from which direction they would be coming from next, so by the time I had pointed the camera, pressed the cameras rather delayed shutter, then hoped for the best that I had gotten them, they had already come....and gone..just didnt know where they were going to next, plus they kept separating from each other and going in different directions...They certainly covered some distance during there almost 30 minutes air display..
Had a great day, sold one of my bird cages and after hubby's appointment the 3 of us went to the chocolate factory hole along with some Chelsea buns. and yes I did put some in the hidey hole. I did manage to find the perfect backing for my quilt at the quilt shop!!
Hal, I found chocolate peanut butter bears for you...
Gloria , this may help you, I usually make mine in a 9x13 pan not fancy like this one.

Going to go put my feet up, didn't do anything but I find just the driving tuckers me out .
.
Enjoy your evening
Good Afternoon,
It's been a lovely day in central Oklahoma.
This afternoon, a friend and I saw the new Meryl Streep movie "Florence Foster (edit) Jenkins". I don't think a writer could produce a character that Meryl Streep couldn't play to perfection!
The movie has been reviewed as 'funny" - and there is plenty of humor - but we thought it was a poignant story.
Hugh Grant is also very good. He certainly has aged well. <sigh>
Miss Ellen was on tv this morning. Here's a link to a "Good Day, Tulsa" video of the girls from Will Rogers Follies singing "Favorite Son". Ellen is front and center left and does the opening line of dialog. She also hits the high note at then end of one phrase http://ktul.com/good-day-tulsa (http://ktul.com/good-day-tulsa) Click on the picture and then on the arrow.
After the commercial, you can scroll to the 2:30 mark to start the song if you don't want to listen to the "chatter".
Vanilla-Jackie--Thanks for the links.
angelface--Interesting how things "used to be".
Mary Ann--I, too, remember reading/hearing about folks who died because of intense heat.
Amy--Thanks so much for putting the chocolate and the buns in the "hidey hole".
Callie--Thanks for the review of "Florence Fisher Jenkins". Also thanks for the link to Miss Ellen on TV. I'll go there when I am done here.
Joan, it was and is incredible how folks survived then and sometimes now. But, I was surprised to learn that the extensive use of air conditioners has actually nade it worse.
Amy. I am just getting ready to go on line to find a new Bird Cage. Mine had for awhile and need changing
I could not open Callies program. I received the picture of the children, but no arrow. alas.....
My groceries finally arrived just before my four hour limit. Very tiring. I think next time I order Ill take a shorter time limit and just pay the added cost. Live is too short not to have the necessary feeling of freedom. I am not a patient waiting person. Putting away the groceries tired me out, so I finished up my afternoon with a nice nap.
June, you need to click on the picture. Another one will come up that should have an arrow on it. (BTW, most of these girls are in their 20's. This is a Community Theatre production - not a children's)
Sandy: What a darling picture! So huggable.
Jackie: Thanks - I love planes and would have really loved to hear them.
Callie: It sounds like a fun play - enjoy. I know you will.
What Carol said.... ;)
June, I thought it wasn't opening too and I don't know what I did but the pic changed slightly and there was the arrow.
Callie, you are justly proud!
Sandy...so are you. Your girls are both beautiful!
I'm off to watch the Olympics for a bit and to bed but not as early as last night. I slept restlessly. I must have had enough sleep to go on but I dreamed and I tossed and turned. I don't usually move much.
Enjoy your evening Everyfriend!
Shucks, Callie, I went the whole way through the commercial & got to the kids & after buffering a while got a pop up that "something wasn't supported"..... I know something is missing on this windows 10, son was here to let it download so I'm guessing he didn't let download some of the things I would need for videos. :'( Glad to see she is on & upward with her career, give her an extra hug for me & thanks for letting you share with us.
Not sure if I commented on your girls, Sandy, but that little one is sure looking like your side of the family that we've gotten to see/meet over the years. They are both darling & such a happy grin means Mama is a good one!
Jackie, you got great shots of the planes, nice & sharp. You sure have a lot going on around there.....
June, my tummy is in knots again tonight because of having to wait on the mowers tomorrow. Last week I waited all day & they didn't show until the next day.... and didn't bother calling. Can't leave the gates open with a pool back there.
Off to bed, I can't get over this tummy bug.... really a grouch this week. God Bless & Sweet Dreams. Shirley
Thank you, JOAN, for our goodies. So happy that you were able to get out and about for breakfast. Does you good to get out and about, I am sure.
CALLIE, I loved the clip on Ms Ellen. Very enjoyable. Just wish I could go see it in person. I am reading HER AGAIN, Becoming Meryl Streep. I could not agree more than she can play the part of most anyone and do a fantastic job.
JEANNE, I am saddened to read about your Ggrand's broken arm...I am not a fan of the jumpie things!
JACKIE, you did a wonderful job of getting the pictures f the planes. Thanks for sharing. Realize you were much younger when you lived the heat of the .........., therefore able to deal with heat a lot better. I never really complained about the heat in Scottsfdal years ago, but I sure do know.
Oh my, AMY, the Chelsea Buns look mighty good! Yum.
HAL, you are correct....the drug prices are out of control....I think we can thank our so called Affordable Health Care for a lot of this. They did a piece on the news about EPIE Pens and how much they have increased the past couple of years. My fancy diabetes drugs, that IMHO do not work worth a darn are all in that $300 plus a month price range. My Endocranologist still thinks I should be able to get help from the manufacturer, but the truth is, I can not. Only if you have medical insurance...not a government funded insurance like Medicare! Gurrrr.
I am off to be...pleasant dreams to all.
Jenny
Oh Me....I really ran into a bunch of trouble with Callies program. It froze my computer and couldn't do a thing to make it shut down. Finally got down on my hands and knees, and pulled the plug. The computer felt hot, so I let it cool down for about an hour, before turning it on. It took time to open, but I am back in business. I did ask God for help, and it worked. All is well again. I am going to shut down for night. So have a safe and happy night dear hearts. I love you much. June.
CAROL.....
......welcome back, been missing your posts.....Still smiling over your statement of.....standing in the middle of a river whilst doing my sample mid stream..... ;)
Yes I have seen The Red Arrows perform at an air show local to our previous location but, been quite a few years now since I was last taken to one, they are really a wonderful sight to see...and not forgetting the noise....
JENNY......
......I took a whole lot of pictures, not all turned out, just a point in the right direction, then shoot, and hope for the best........Many were from using zoom from a distance, but on occasion they did fly around us, only problem for me, I was standing on our sloped grassed back garden with a high'ish bush behind me for steadiness, ( so I could see over our homes rooftop, into the far distance, but the sea was the other side of the large hill, )... but at times It would have been better if I had been on lower ground if I had known they were going to fly around in front of us, as they circled over our high hedge, to take the photo,..... as my MS wont allow my head to look directly up above me, I cant do that, I would get dizzy, lose my balance, and possibly fall over, never happened yet, touch wood, just something I cant do....I can look up but only ahead of me, if nothing to support me,... but not straight up if you know what I mean.....
Re drug, prescription charges, if there is one good thing for me to say, re, our NHS, once we become senior, ( pensioner, ) we do get FREE prescriptions, which of course is a blessing in money savings for people on many medications, as for me, I am only on BP high blood pressure tablets, one pack per month until we have lived here longer, then assuming we are allowed 2 or 3 packs per month, so our chemist ( drugstore ) has told us...well it did take 13 years before previous GP upped mine to 3 months, ha ha, only another 12 plus years to go, before my cupboard has a good supply.... ;D
CALLIE K.....
......I clicked on an arrow but it brought an unwanted site up, so I quickly closed it in-case it was dodgy, so reluctant to do it again, maybe it was the wrong arrow.......I did see a group of young girls before I clicked on it...I am assuming one of those girls was your Miss Ellen....
SANDY.....
.......Fe and mom photo is delightful.....can see she is not at all, camera shy....
JUNEDRABEK.....
.......It sure is horrible when the computer freezes, nothing one can do but to unplug it, and hope it will restart, hoping for the best, that it comes back to normal....See, " God, " even arranged that for you.....
I too liked yesterdays " Thought of the Day.....just wished I could practice what it preaches...afraid I hold onto too much bitterness from the past....just keeps coming back to haunt me.....
GLORIA.....
.....yes I do much prefer the cold weather, cold and dry weather....I used to like nothing better than to wrap up warm in long coat, hat and scarf and walk my then three dogs, I would stride out early in the morning, when a lot of people were still tucked up in bed.....Of course I would still love to do that now, but because of my MS illness, that wont ever be possible, I would not get far,..... plus no streets or roads here to walk, just a downhill or uphill walk, and I cant do either unaided...
LARRY HANNA.....
.....I feel relieved to hear your Pat's pain has at last subsided,.... hope it stays that way......
Good Thursday morning, Everyfriend. There's Cinnabons to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!:smitten:

A New Wine From WalmartSome Wal-Mart customers soon will be able to sample a new discount item: Wal-Mart's own brand of wine. The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of Modesto, California, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $2-5 range. Thought you would like to be first in line to buy some!
"While wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of Wal-Mart brand wine into their shopping carts, there is a market for cheap wine," said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. She said: "The right name is important."
So, here we go--the top 12 suggested names for Wal-Mart Wine:
12. Chateau Traileur Parc
11. White Trashfindel
10. Big Red Gulp
9. Grape Expectations
8. Domaine Wal-Mart "Merde du Pays"
7. NASCARbernet
6. Chef Boyardeaux
5. Peanut Noir
4. Chateau des Moines
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. World Championship Riesling
And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine
1. Nasti Spumante
The beauty of Wal-Mart wine is that it can be served with white meat (possum) and red meat (squirrel).
Food For Thought
Olympic Lessons from God's Word
(By Rev. Kerry S. Doyal) We Doyals are Olympic junkies. The winter games are great, the summer games even better! During their two-week run, we are sleep-deprived yet sudden experts in judging gymnastics, assessing swimmers and coaching runners.
To help justify all this passive television viewing - or at least quiet my conscience - I remind myself that the Bible deals with sports matters quite a bit. So, for all you sport fans, here are some Olympics inspired passages from God's word.
Some are verses that seem to have been drawn from athletic competition. Other texts have connected ideas that are fodder for meditation and prayer. Use these verses to create your own parables, analogies, and life lessons.
Does guilt creep up on you as you sit and snack, watching countless disciplined, well-conditioned creatures? Here is a further motivation to get into better shape - both physical and spiritual. "Do not waste time arguing over godless ideas and old wives' tales. Spend your time and energy in training yourself for spiritual fitness. Physical exercise has some value, but spiritual exercise is much more important, for it promises a reward in both this life and the next." (1 Timothy 4:7 & 8 - NLT)
As you enjoy the next medal presentation, and consider the years it took for the athlete to earn it, mull over this verse: "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and understanding than silver!" (Proverbs 16:16 - NLT). While the gold and silver refer to riches, it does still help us ask: "Does this sound like one of my core convictions?"
The Apostle Paul must have been a sports fan. See if this sports-filled passage - I count eight plus allusions - describes your commitment to the gospel and Christ.
"I do all this to spread the Good News, and in doing so I enjoy its blessings. Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You also must run in such a way that you will win. All athletes practice strict self-control. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run straight to the goal with purpose in every step. I am not like a boxer who misses his punches. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified." (1 Corinthians 9:23-27 - NLT)
As you consider those glorious temples in Athens, built to honor their gods, check out this track / temple exhortation for purity: "Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. Or don't you know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body." (1 Corin. 6 18-20 - NLT)
When you are amazed by speedy track stars, pray this for missionaries: ". pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you, and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for not all have faith (1 Thess. 3:1 & 2 - NKJV).
Seen anyone disqualified or penalized for cheating, drugs, lane violations, and low blows? It is a great reminder to "fight the good fight for what we believe." (1 Tim. 6:12 - NLT).
Finally, as medal winners are crowned with soon-to-fade laurel wreaths, consider this text, praying it can be your testimony as well: "For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing." (2 Tim. 4:6-8 - NKJV).
Thought of the Day
A businessman well known for his ruthlessness once announced to writer Mark Twain, "Before I die I mean to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land. I will climb Mount Sinai and read the 10 Commandments aloud at the top."
"I have a better idea," replied Twain. "You could stay in Boston and keep them."

Good morning evryone
We had rain last evening and through the night. This is welcomed for sure.
Today is a chase the dust bunnies again and tidy up. Nice staying home even if it means waltzing with the vacuum.
JeanneP This was a floor model cockatiel cage plus I have other smaller cages to go. Once Peepers is gone, no more birds for me.
Callie, I had no problem opening the video...enjoyed watching your lovely Ms. Ellen
Jackie fantastic photos!!!
Sandy, Fe is such a cutie pie.
Joan ,thank you for breakfast.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning, Amy. STILL no rain here.:( Nice that you get to stay home for a day and chase dust bunnies and waltz with a vacuum.:)
Good morning, Joan and all the other friends. I will certainly enjoy a Cinnabon this morning. The Cinnabon stand in our local mall has been closed up for a long time, and I really do miss them. That was a nice treat when we would go to the mall.
My area has been experiencing all the same hot weather as a lot of the country. I, for one, prefer the hot weather to the long cold winters, that will be coming. I am sure that for workers who have to work outside in the high temperatures and humidity it can be very difficult.
I found out yesterday, that my fourth great-grand daughter will be arriving the first of the New Year. Another sweet little girl added to our family. Unfortunately, they all live out of town, and I don't get to see them in person very often. Thanks to their moms, tho, I get to see lots of pictures. That is the next best thing, I guess.
Looks like it is a pretty sunny day outside my window this morning. We have been having thunderstorms almost every evening this week. Doesn't seem to cool the temperatures down that much, tho. But, after all, it is summertime.
Have a great day.
Joy
Good morning, Joy. I believe many Cinnabon locations closed. The closed one to me is in Orlando and that's about an hour away. Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your newest great granddaughter. If the weather was always in the 70s, I'd be a happy camper.
Where's Janie? I hope she is OK.
Good Morning Everyone!
Well, another GGrandson for me and the wife. Born yesterday 7 lbs, Mother and Child doing well. He was a little early but in good health.
More rain yesterday afternoon. And prospects for more the next few days.
And temps to remain around high 80's and low 90's.
My daughter is up from Del Rio to have an operation this morning. Should be in the operating room as I type. Female things.
I have an MRI scheduled at 6PM tonight. And bible study this morning and need to get down and get my plates and registration at the dealership for wifes new car. Lots happening.
We have the daughters dog here while she and husband are at hospital and he is pacing the floor looking for them. And when I try to calm him my dog gets jealous and pushes herself into me. I keep telling mine she is top dog but she wants the attention. Oh, well!
Got to go get cleaned up.
Our Cinnabon in our mall has been closed for a long time, too. But, that is the location where our new French Bakery has opened so I think I am better off. I loved Cinnabons but I love all the French pastries and baguettes even more!
Doctors and dental appointments have all been taken care of so today is a new and fresh day for doing just what I want to do. Well, there is grocery shopping, of course, but I'll handle that in good fashion, I hope.
I'm going to make it a good day. I hope all of you can, too.
Good luck with your MRI Hall see you all later.
The Stranger
A few years after I was born, my Dad met a stranger who was new
to our small town. From the beginning, Dad was fascinated with this
enchanting newcomer and soon invited him to live with our family.
The stranger was quickly accepted and was around from then on.
As I grew up, I never questioned his place in my
family. In my young mind, he had a special niche.
My parents were complementary instructors: Mom
taught me good from evil, and Dad taught me to obey.
But the stranger... he was our storyteller. He would keep us spellbound
for hours on end with adventures, mysteries and comedies.
If I wanted to know anything about politics, history
or science, he always knew the answers about the past,
understood the present and even seemed able to predict
the future! He took my family to the first major league
ball game. He made me laugh, and he made me cry. The
stranger never stopped talking, but Dad didn't seem
to mind.
Sometimes, Mom would get up quietly while the rest of
us were shushing each other to listen to what he had to
say, and she would go to the kitchen for peace and quiet.
(I wonder now if she ever prayed for the stranger to leave.)
Dad ruled our household with certain moral convictions,
but the stranger never felt obligated to honor them.
Profanity, for example, was not allowed in our home - not
from us, our friends or any visitors. Our long time visitor,
however, got away with four-letter words that burned my
ears and made my dad squirm and my mother blush.
My Dad didn't permit the liberal use of alcohol but the
stranger encouraged us to try it on a regular basis. He made
cigarettes look cool, cigars manly, and pipes distinguished.
He talked freely (much too freely!) about sex. His comments
were sometimes blatant, sometimes suggestive, and generally
embarrassing..
I now know that my early concepts about relationships were
influenced strongly by the stranger. Time after time, he
opposed the values of my parents, yet he was seldom rebuked
... And NEVER asked to leave.
More than fifty years have passed since the stranger moved
in with our family. He has blended right in and is not nearly
as fascinating as he was at first. Still, if you could walk into
my parents' den today, you would still find him sitting over
in his corner, waiting for someone to listen to him talk and
watch him draw his pictures.
His name?....
We just call him 'TV.'
(Note: This should be required
reading for every household!)
He has a wife now....we call her 'Computer.'
Their first child is "Mobile Phone".
Second child "I Pod "

OH MY----HOW TRUE THIS IS!!!
Good Morning Everyfriend! I had some urgent chores to deal with this morning and I'm a bit late joining you all. Chores are either finished or into a waiting stage so I popped in and I'm popping out to go get dressed. I have a couple errands to run and granddaughter, Natalie is visiting from Texas. I need to get a hug or two before she goes back. I think we're all having breakfast on Saturday.
You all have a great day full of what you love best. I'll try to be back later.
Hi everyone. Another hot day in store for us. I just got the trash bin, some cardboard for recycling and my broken window to the street as this is pickup day. Scott put the new replacement window in for me yesterday evening and it is nice to look out this morning and not see a broken window pain. It appears that the carpenters finished their work on the new house across the street and I expect the shingles to be put on next although they haven't yet been delivered.
We had a nice visit with Scott last evening and enjoyed the meal that I had worked on all day long, off and on as could only work a little while and then had to sit down and rest.
I woke up around 5 am this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so I decided to listen to the audiobook I am currently into. I had my shower/shave and laid back down and read through all of my email and the messages here on the three discussions I follow. I didn't want to get up until after 8 as knew Pat would be sleeping, which she is still doing. As soon as she awakes I will water my plants and fix our breakfast. Since this is Thursday I will pick up my friend and we will go to coffee. I will then take him home and go back downtown for the Wisdom class at the church. I think I will eat a sandwich out for lunch and then make a quick stop at Aldi's for some fruits and vegetables. When I get home I can then rest before taking Pat for her chiropractic appointment. I spoke too soon yesterday about her feeling better as she had a pretty miserable day anytime she had to move around. I know she is not going to get better overnight but just keep hoping the treatments and time will help her get back where she can walk and move without pain and having to use the walker or cane.
Since I have written a short book above, I will be brief on further comments today.
JeanneP, it is nice that the twin brother wanted to look after his sister. Did they get to be in the same class?
Jackie, Pat's relief from the severe pain and spasms didn't last yesterday.
Hal, glad all is well with the new Great Grandchild and mother. Hope your daughter's operation goes smoothly and she has a quick recovery.
HALKEL....
....Of course she does, why not, its HER home..... ;D
LARRY HANNA...
......Hope today Pat's pain management does change for the better....life can be so so unpredictable....I am more concerned with how you are coping, you too, have your own medical issues....
JOAN.........
.....Yes, The Ten Commandments are a little bit closer to home....
Good morning Joan and Everyfriends...
Good morning halkel. Congratulations on the new great grandson. I hope all goes
well with your daughter's surgery. You have a busy day ahead.
Good morning, Phyllis. I know it seems good to get all your doctors and dentist appointments over for the time being. What are you going to "gather" today?
Lloyd--Good morning. That is so very true--in most cases.
Good morning, Janie. Glad you are OK but had urgent chores to take care of. Enjoy the time you can spend with Natalie.
Larry--Good morning. You sure are getting proficient at preparing meals. I pray every day that Pat gets pain relief.
Good morning, Vanilla-Jackie.
Good Morning,
I am so sorry that some of you had problems with the link to the Tulsa tv station. So glad Amy and Jenny were able to see it. June's report really worried me!
I won't try that any more.
Reading the posts about Cinnabon brought back memories of the one that used to be in the Mall near me. It's been a very long time since I've been there but I remember the wonderful cinnamony scent that wafted through the air.
Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.
I saw it, too, Callie. Oh! Oh! It's as I suspected! I've become invisible again! Oh well, this, too, shall pass!
I'm off to do a couple of errands and then back to see how the "wait for it" project is going.
Janie - No, no - you didn't :melt: I just didn't scroll back far enough. Mea Culpa! :-[
Good morning, Callie. I had no trouble with your link, but neglected to comment. Sorry!!
Janie--Oh no, you aren't invisible. When I don't "see you" I mention it. Hope the "wait for it" project is going well.
JOAN....OR ANYONE ELSE,
DO YOU KNOW OF SOMEONE THAT IS GOING TO BE IN LONDON THIS SATURDAY THE 20th?
There is one ticket to see Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theater....5th row, center, as well as a River Thames cruise ticket.
It is free and easily transferable.....trip plans fell through! Sad, but a GREAT opportunity for someone!
Good Morning Everyone,
from the warm but not so humid ,
rocky coast of Maine.
All is well. I am just having a lazy
"TAKE IT EASY, type day
Best wishes to all !
Sandy
:coolsmiley:
Good morning everyone, Cooler this morning and it feels good. Ever feel like you would like to break the routine you are in? That is how I feel lately. Too much time in front of the computer and not doing anything. Thanks to Patricia I now can get the plugins back in PSP so maybe I can do something with it again instead of getting frustrated.
LARRY terrible the cost of meds these days. Did you see on TV the big jump in the cost of the Eppie pens? I hope I get to see see my son more now.
HAL will check that link more later but looks like I would like those Sopapillas. Something different for this Yankee. Believe me the Northeast has not had enough rain this summer. More towns are banning outside watering when they never did that before.
JOAN glad you treated yourself to breakfast out with your friend. A break in the daily routine is good for all of us. I know I enjoy getting out for something other than a doctor appointment.
JOAN local honey is pure honey. What is sold in stores I have read a few times is not pure honey but watered down. The farm I like sells honey and it comes from their bees who are in the orchards and gardens they plant.
JACKIE 2 good photos
AMY cinnamon and nuts, I would love those Chelsea buns. My baking days are over but would have made them at one time. Thanks for the link.
CALLIE you must be very proud of your Ellen.
JACKIE I rather bundle up in the winter than try to keep cool in summer.
JOAN I will enjoy a Cinnabon, could never turn one of those away. Love the Chuckles and those names for the wine. Food for Thought is a different way of looking at our faith. Love today's quote. Thank you for all today's goodies.
HAL I wish the best for your daughter. How many great grands is that now?
LLOYD the coming of TV sure did change our lives.
Jenny--GREAT opportunity, but I don't know anyone.
Sandy--Enjoy your "take it easy" day.
Gloria--Many times I think I should change my routine. I don't like honey at all, but my husband loved it.
Gloria, nine, I think.
Good morning from another partly cloudy, partly sunny Interior day. I just looked over at Farrah, sitting beside my chair and she was sitting up and batting her front paws at me like a dog turning tricks. I wish those people who mistreated her would receive some of their abuse! It took only a little time to see she is a brilliant, loving animal. The fact that the majority of the domesticated animals are the same is the true tragedy with human selfishness.
There is an entire catalog of university classes available to seniors, but they aren't free as I thought. It is ten dollars a class, steep for me, but I know what the regular students will be paying. I'm not sure if I will be taking any or not as some run at the University later than the buses run.
In the afternoon we had a presentation about diabetes from the nurses at the hospital. That was absorbing as they stressed keeping active and eating more fruit and vegetables and fewer fruit juices and couch surfing.
They also emphasized eating clean and wished everyone would give up sodas, energy drinks, and those syrupy coffee drinks. They described sugar in the blood as sticky, rough shaped molecules that stressed the vessels, body and caused or contributed to causing many diseases as well as the principal one.
All in all, an interesting day.
The more I hear about television, the more I'm glad I don't have one.
I receive from the farm, a gallon jar of local honey for far less than what you might pay at the grocery store. I do save 15% by washing the jar and returning it back to the farm after each delivery.
angelface--I think it's great that Farrah is such a brilliant, loving cat. Nice that you can avail yourself of presentations like the one about diabetes.
The couch is calling, so I will soon be having my half an hour afternoon rest.
Good Morning dear ones, I seem to be having trouble waking up. My brain is still in bed, or off in space somewhere.
Hal, congratulations on your new Gr. Grandson. With all those daughters in your life, it must feel strange to have little short-haired males tripping into your world.
My computer had a good sleep last night and is feeling spritely today.
Soon it will be time to go down for lunch, which I must do. Enough of this hermit-izing that I seem to require so much. The world out there is waiting for me to appear..I think.
So, I shall return a library book, eat with friends, then come home and enjoy all of you again.
For those who may have missed it, the latest picture is here. http://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=11.msg42166#new
June--Enjoy your lunch downstairs with your friends.
Radioman--Wonderful picture of you and Bubble. You both sparkle. Your link takes one to the top of the page. Let's see if this gets right to the picture:
http://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=11.msg42050#msg42050
What a great picture, Don. Congratulations to both of you!
Wonderful that you'll be seeing our Pat, too.
Have I mentioned that I'm having a great-niece as a house guest all next week? My guest room hasn't been used in so long that I was afraid of what I might find "camping out" under the bed when I went in this afternoon.
However, nothing had moved in - so all is in readiness for her arrival on Sunday evening.

"CVS Caremark and Express Scripts, the biggest prescription insurers, released their 2017 lists of approved drugs this month, and each also has long lists of excluded medications. Some of the drugs newly excluded are prescribed to treat diabetes and hepatitis. The CVS list also excludes some cancer drugs, along with Proventil and Ventolin, commonly prescribed brands of asthma inhalers, while Express Scripts has dropped Orencia, a drug for rheumatoid arthritis."
Callie--How nice that great-nice will be visiting and using your guest room next week.
angelface--Thanks for the link. I'll go check it out when I am done here.
What's next?
http://www.aol.com/article/2016/08/18/epipens-are-now-so-expensive-that-some-people-with-allergies-can/21454567/
EpiPens are now so expensive that some people with allergies can't afford them
Bis, thank you for taking us so directly to the photo of Bubble and Don. What a treat it is to see their happy faces, and they both look so very delighted. And how happy it makes me to know that our Pat is now well enough to travel. I thank God she is out of danger.
I went down for lunch. Brought half of it home for supper. Then went back down for balance and exercise class, so I am happy to be back home and "in" for the day.
DENVER
Wish I was posting that I would be in London, specially for the River cruise.
Am sure there must be someone to enjoy both.
Junee, I was thinking the same thing..... do have a friend that has a daughter that lived in London & last I heard, was singing with the opera. Many years since I've touched base with the family. Another friend's son was a "hot" singer in London.... she brought a poster of him made for the club he was singing at... impressive. Also have not seen the friend for years. Life gets full .... I appreciate my today friends (in here) and the few I have in real life where I live now. I got a lot of mileage out of thinking about your offer, Jenny.... too bad we can't take advantage, but thanks for offering! :tissue:
I took Beverly to visit a friend who lives in independent living at a local facility. I don't think it's as nice as the place where June lives but she's happy there and that's all that matters. The 3 of us have been friends for a lot of years.
Also had a quick visit with Natalie and will have a longer one on Saturday before she leaves on Sunday to return to Texas. She's the one who was married two years ago and is working on her Masters while her husband pursues his Doctorate. They are busy young people!
Loved the picture of our resident lovers! Looks like all is proceeding according to God's plan for them. Be happy Don and Bubble!
I bought the stuff to make salsa today. Everyone would be disappointed if they didn't get their salsa for Christmas so I better get at it. I think that will be the plan for Sunday after Natalie goes home. Don't want to miss any hours with her.
I hope you've all had a good day today. Mine is finished! I've tired enough to sleep tonight. I will say...
Good Night Everyfriend! and may God bless us, every one!
I am sorry that there is not someone that is in London and could use these wonderful tickets. I think you are too far away now, JACKIE, but it sure would be nice if you could go, but of course it goes without mentioning your ability to get around would be an issue. It was worth a shout out just in case. Seems many have family members that travel over there at times.
LOL, SHIRLEY, regarding you getting a lot of mileage out of thinking about my offer!
JUNEE, it would be onderful if you could transplant yourself in London to take advantage of this offer, but then, IF doing that were possible, I would be on my way and would not be offering it! ðŸ˜
Pleasant dreams to all.
Jenny
Time to say another Good Night, and I pray it is a very Good one. That all of you are as well as can be.Sleep well, God is watching over you, and what a great blessing that is. I love you all. June :smitten:
DENVER , I remember well River Cruise to Kew Gardens and River Cruise to Greenwich. NO I can't go but memories are good.
SHIRLEY. Well you and I are out now, but must be someone visiting London able t o enjoy. We are indeed fortunate to have Seniors and Friends .
JENNY.....
.....Thank you for thinking of me, of course I would have loved to have taken you up on your ticket offer, but you are quite right, too far away and......I would have, and I could have, BEFORE my MS came into my life.....We do have a couple of partners, hubby's and wive's near to us who are in the entertainment business, one couples male partner being quite well know in some well known and popular TV programmes, I have seen the list he has appeared in, I am sure both couples travel into London but being short notice I would exclude asking them, plus I haven't gotten to meet him, nor speak to him yet, have briefly met his wife........As for the second couple, our friends, they do quite a lot of travelling to put on their performances, think more as singers.......Link to first couple....

Food For Thought
A Boll Weevil Blessing
(by Steve Troxel) For the past several days, my family and I have enjoyed the gracious hospitality of some dear friends in the small Alabama town of Enterprise. Located about an hour north of the Florida coast, Enterprise is filled with genuinely friendly people and good gospel-preaching churches. It is also home of the "famed" Boll Weevil Monument.
In the early 1900's the town of Enterprise was almost completely dependent on the farming of cotton. The economy of the small town rose and fell with the price of cotton and the amount of rain, but most people were able to scratch out a living. Then in 1915, disaster struck. The Boll Weevil attacked and destroyed 60% of the cotton crop - the devastation in the following year was even more complete. The economy was dead and the lives of this close-knit town were in shambles.
Rather than quitting and moving from the area, the people of Enterprise diversified their crops and in 1917 planted peanuts. This move turned out to be a financial blessing which changed the economic make-up of the community for the remainder of the century. Peanuts were better suited to the south Alabama climate and soil - and had a much larger profit margin than cotton.
This blessing was so immediate that in December 1919, the people of Enterprise erected a monument to the Boll Weevil - and rather than calling the Boll Weevil a hated pest, the plaque in front of the monument is written in appreciation to "The Herald of Prosperity."
Romans 8:28 "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose."
The people of Enterprise showed great willingness to adapt to adversity - without any assurance of success. As Children of God, we must be willing to show even greater determination because we have God's promise of hope - ALL things are working together for the good.
Let's not wait until the good has been revealed by the passing of time before we rejoice and give glory to God - let's begin to rejoice even as the trial is upon us because we KNOW by faith that the good is on it's way. The next time the crops of life look like they're being destroyed, let's praise God and begin looking for a Boll Weevil blessing.
Thought of the Day

JOAN, EVERYFRIENDS......
....good Friday morning......at last we have some welcome rain, not heavy just welcomed, at least by me, not so much by R...
.....they keep showing the little Allepo boy Omran, doesn't it bring tears to your eyes, so heart wrenching....I dont know how others feel but I hate seeing the boy " staged " with the camera man placing him on that seat, then running away to take photos.....I know it is to get response and worldwide attention, and it sure will get plenty of that..... I know this Idea of " staging " is to show the world what is going on, but to use this little lad in this way, is just heartbreaking to see....he clearly is very distressed, traumatised and bewildered, and in need of urgent medical attention......
Good morning everyone.
Going to be hot and muggy here[ again. Not a lot on the agenda today just a quiet day at home.LOVE THESE!!!
Joan thank you for breakfast.
Enjoy your day everyone./color]
Good morning Vanilla-Jackie. I sure would welcome some rain. I don't like seeing the boy staged.
Amy--Good morning. It's nice you have a day at home. Hot and muggy--not so nice.
I'm late today. I got up to a missing internet but I did all the tricks they told me to do and now it's back. HOORAY!
Good Morning Everyfriend! I wish you all a good day. I'll be off to Wally World to greet my public this morning. It's going to be a good day!
I totally agree on the staged Aleppo child. Put down that darned camera and comfort that frightened child! Right now! Made me angry and sad. Poor little boy and what terrible things have been done to him.
Good morning! Sorry I had to vent that but it really upset me when I saw it.
Quiet day today and that is a good thing. TTYAL (Talk to you all later).
Good morning Janie. Glad you got the internet back. Hope everyone is smiling today at WM.
Phyllis--Good morning. We agree on that poor little boy. I'm having a quiet day, too.
Good Morning everyone. Hope you all have a great day.at least better than I have been having for a couple of weeks.
even pepto is not fixing.
I have been watching the humming birds, they are out in numbers.dive booming each other. reminds me of childhood.seams we were always wrestling each other and if one of the neighbor boys would show up we would take him on as well , mostly all in fun. hope it is same with the birds all in fun.
Lloyd
PHYLLIS.....
..... great minds think alike, the boy needed comforting, not left alone and used.......
Good morning, Lloyd. I hope you feel better very soon.
Vanilla-Jackie--So true!!
Hi everyone on this Friday Morning. I am looking forward to a quiet and restful day at home today as have been on the go all week and by yesterday evening was totally exhausted. I went to bed early and slept for over 9 hours. I didn't get home yesterday until 2 pm and had to leave again at 3:45 for Pat's chiropractic appointment. Fortunately, I had prepared salad for us earlier and so had a quick meal with ham and salad. I did fix her a good scrambled eggs, green onions, cheese and ham breakfast with a bowl of strawberries for breakfast.
Jackie, I am coping well other than having no stamina and having to stop for frequent rest periods. After resting a little while I can get back up and continue the job. Please don't worry about me as I am among the fortunate not to be in pain all the time. When I reach a certain point of tiredness I know I have to stop and rest. Nice to see you are still able to get outside occasionally and enjoy your surrounding.
Joan, thank you for your prayers for Pat (and also thanks to others here who have included her in your prayers and kind thoughts). I think it may be a long haul before she gets back to where the muscle spasms stop. I know she is getting very bored at basically being confined to the house and misses being with friends. Proficient at meals is another story but I am working on it. I need to fix her some sauteed mushrooms that I purchase yesterday at Aldi's. She recently fixed some and loved him. She gets all of them as mushrooms are not on my favorite list. I'm with you in not caring for honey.
June, glad to see your computer was "feeling spritely" yesterday. I was a bit concerned when I saw that you left your brain in bed when you got up. :) That made me chuckle.
Don, beautiful picture of you two. That sounded like a very nice engagement party.
Jackie, I heard on the news last night that the little Allepo boy had been reunited with his entire family. Perhaps the picture helped them get the family back together.
Callie, I also liked the Cinnabon's but wouldn't be able to enjoy one if I had to buy them in a mall as can't do the walking in the mall anymore.
Gloria, I just opened the link for the medicines that won't be covered by a couple of the insurance plans in 2017 but did not see the TV story on the increase in cost of the EpiPen. Fortunately, neither Pat nor I have ever needed one.
Amy, some time ago you shared the recipe for Cabbage Roll Casserole. I made it and we both liked it. A friend of Tom's has been doing some cooking for us in hopes Tom will be able to lose some weight and I gave her a copy of the recipe so she could make it for us again. When we were at her house last e night, the first thing she told me was that the casserole was delicious!
Joan, in your one-liners, the one about the child telling the mother's age â€" one day I asked my mother if she was 30 and she said “yesâ€. Each years I'd add a year until I got to maybe 35 and my mother said she was 40. I remember it yet â€" the ironing board was beside the table and Mother was sewing and I stood at the end of the ironing board crying, “you lied to meâ€. I realize my mother knew what she was doing!
I had another episode of nose bleeds this morning and I have a different type of packing in my nose. As I have aged, the membranes in my nose have thinned and dried. I hope I don't have this going on for the rest of my life! I can't blow my nose until the packing comes out Monday.
Mary Ann
Good morning, Larry. You sure were busy yesterday. It sounds to me as if you're doing very well with your cooking. I LOVE mushrooms. I know Pat must be experiencing some cabin fever.
Mary Ann--Good morning. Sorry you've had another nosebleed. Did you have to go to the ER to get your nose packed? I laughed about your asking your Mother's age.
Good morning from a yet again, rainy day in the Interior. Farrah has come so far that now she not only taps me for attention but she "yells" at me if I am slow in noticing! Either that or she's figured out who's the boss! ;)
What made me so angry about the medicine is the significant increases and costs for needed medications, such as the EpiPen increasing over 480% in such a small time. Meds for chronic diseases are real money makers for our pharmacy companies, and profit is their bible and goal!
I am lucky in that I only need a few adjustments so far and a need to see if it is a worsening of my disability or something new that has come up. This is why I'm so happy about Medicare, so far anyway!
Gloria just called and wanted me to tell you all that her computer crashed again. They refuse to come to her place to work on it--want her to crawl around on the floor and unplug things--which she is unable to do.
Joan.....what a nice company Gloria is dealing with...not.... >:(.....how nice of them to want their seniors customers to grovel around on the floor, while they are sitting comfortably at their desks in a comfortable office giving out their comands.....not.. >:(
I hope Gloria puts in some words of complaint once she is back up running again....I think Gloria has been more than patient with this company...
angelface--One of my inhalers is not going to be covered at all and the other is going from $42 to $336. Atrocious!
Vanilla-Jackie--Like you, I would have lost my patience long ago. Gloria has had this computer 6 months and has had nothing but trouble with it.
I think I know what is wrong with Gloria's computer. In 2001, I had very similar issues with Gateway. They sent me a few new computers and then insisted my warranty was void and that I was somehow damaging the computers myself as they would work for awhile and then shut down.
I finally took it to a repair shop in town. After a three month wait and then $85.00 an hour, they told me that when Gateway sent out a new computer, they put it together exactly as the original. The issue was the original assembly had several errors that were consequently duplicated.
After the local company, who was very busy, thus the long wait, fixed the computer, it worked fine for eight years. I notified Gateway of their error and oddly enough, I never received an answer or acknowledgement....
angelface--In the six months since Gloria bought this computer they have never sent her a new one or taken this one in repairs. The only thing they did was send her a disc.
If I were Gloria, I'd sue that computer company. They are treating her very, very badly.
Larry, again, my brain is still in bed sound asleep. It allows me to rouse it to do some communicating , but nothing of interest seems to be available. You are so valiant in your loving care of your wife Larry. I'm really proud of you. Please keep realizing your limitations and rest as much as possible. If you should get seriously ill, what would happen next. You should have access to some sort of assistance my friend.
Time to hit the recliner and book. See you all later. June
Good Afternoon Everyone!
Well, finally got a little time so thought I would check on you cats to see what was going on. I had PT early this morning 8AM, got home about 9 and was give completely out, had a cup of coffee, took some of my meds and lay down and had a little nap. Then got up, had some more coffee and my daughter and hubby came by to pick up their dog and other things and headed back to Del Rio, She was feeling pretty good considering. Just hope you doesn't wear herself out going home.
Well doctors office called while Christy was here and gave me the results of my MRI, not cancer. But they say they are referring me to "another" specialist and I should expect a phone call from them in a couple of days after they evaluate the problem. That's what I need another doctor.
Oh, the joys of old age. Just kidding, the good Lord has been exceptionally good to me considering how I have treated him. I will accept in good humor what ever he offers.
Jenny. Now what tickets are you talking about. I may be over end of September into October to see family. Don't remember reading about them here.
Halkel.....you done well to have gotten your MRI results so soon after having it done...They made me wait five weeks for mine, to tell me I had MS....what a difference the medical system from country to country....
Halkel, I am happy and relieved to hear your good news, re, not cancer, those words bring music to our ears....
If any of you are friends with me on facebook, be aware. My account has been hacked. I'm closing it down and I will not open it again. I didn't like it in the first place but I wanted to see the pictures of Natalie in Italy during her junior year in college. Now I don't really care. It seems to be more trouble than it's worth. I must really be getting old!
June--They sure are giving Gloria the run around.
halkel--Glad the MRI showed no cancer. Now what kind of a specialist do you have to see?
Hi Vanilla-Jackie.
Janie--I got one of those friend requests from you today.
Jane, I received one as well. I earlier saw a note from another friend, telling you it was hacked. That is why I originally shut my account down as they, (Facebook); seem unable or unwilling to shut this scam down. I reopened it because of family.
Joanie, if my life depended on it I couldn't tell you. Like I said my daughter was here gathering her stuff and I tried to explain it to her. But the nurse told me so much about two different problems that all I did was jumble the facts. So, I have sent an email to the doctors office and ask if she would be so kind as to put in writing what she told me on the phone. My doctor is out of the office today and Monday so I cant talk to him. But they are very nice folks and normally they will grant me favors.
Jackie, unfortunately we have many here in the U.S. who want your type of system, I don't. They think it is all free with no strings. As you know it isn't. NHS does have some good things that I like but the bad seemed to outweigh the good. My brother in law was well taken care of with the heart valve replacement, of course he never saw the surgeon except when he did the operation and they messed him around some with a second operation for a different problem. The radiologist was present when they did the MRI last night and I didn't have to have the contrast I was suppose to have gotten. That is how I found out he was present. I never saw him, but the technician told me when she pulled me out of the machine that he said no contrast needed.
Angel, in regard to the article on the Epipen....., thank goodness I don't need to carry one but I learned first hand last week about the sudden astronomical increase in allergy medicine. My dr. renewed my script for a very commonly used medicine, Albuterol inhaler for asthma and when I went to pick it up the druggist told me it was $90 for one inhaler and my prescription plan no longer covers it! I was shocked but told them I really needed it so go ahead and fill it for me. While I was waiting the wonderful druggist did a little digging and found another brand (same medicine) for $50. Still way higher than it used to be but better than the original price.
I'm sorry, Joan, that they hit you so hard for something you HAVE to have just to get through the days.
I don't know how these pharmaceutical companies live with themselves......or the insurance companies either! :tickedoff:
Gosh, I feel so sorry for Gloria. That has to be frustrating her beyond words.
Hal, I'm happy that the diagnosis was "no cancer". What a relief for you and your family.
Halkel......wish they realise it is not free, we pay- payed into it during our working lives when we were - are stopped weekly - monthly tax from our wage packet ....
Hal, thank's so much for sharing the Good News from your doctors office. I'm sorry the feel the need for another specialist to see you, but better safe than sorry. Do you get your medical treatment from the V.A. or do you have another program ? Never doubt that the Good Lord loves you Hal, you are a good man, through and through.
Janie, I had intended to join Facebook some years back, but my son Dan warned me against it. Felt it was too much for me. I'm glad I obeyed him, as it seems to be very popular.
I went down for lunch, sat with a fun, like-minded group. There were five of us at the table. One couple, former Missionaries to Guatemala,
one lady from Long Beach, Ca., another little Asian lady and me. I brought over half my huge lunch home to have for supper tonight.
Had a phone call from son Gary. He has made an appointment for me with his optometrist for next week, so I will probably get some new reading glasses. We will leave after his hour of his teaching group Bible studies at our Chapel downstairs.
Now it is time to lay this body down with a good book and a nice nap. See y'all later. June
halkel--Hope you find out what kind of specialist you must see now.
Phyllis--So far there is no cheaper inhalers for me. I have yet to check all the other prescriptions to see how many have been dropped or the price raised out of sight. I don't have much good to say about the pharma companies and the insurance companies.
Vanilla-Jackie--Your insurance works different than ours.
June--Glad you had a nice lunch with friends. I am overdue to get my eyes examined--must make an appointment.
Didn't fall asleep, read a bit, then took a nice walk outside. They are setting up a stage and chairs for a "concert" in our Courtyard. I thought it was for Sunday, but they may have switched to tomorrow, or perhaps they like to get things done ahead of time. I'll know tomorrow. It is so nice outside, but my conditioner goes on anyway. Perhaps it gets warmer inside because we are the top floor. In any case, I am comfortable so not complaining.
Bis I haven't seen an eye doctor for a long, long time. Must be close to five years or more. Since I had the two cataracts removed.
[/7]years......just checked my records.
Vanilla. The difference in the Health is that here in US. It cost, Even once retired. we pay $1400 a year, Taken out of our SS pension check part each month. plus aprox $450 a month for a supplemental as Medicare only coveres 80% of cost. and then extra for some drugs. Not like UK. We pay a amount monthly all the years we are working (40) years me. in order to get on Medicare once retired.
Although I know my relatives there In UK. They are retired and on the Country Health Program but they also carry a private policy which they pay for and get fast service on most things. Just both having knees replaced at this time. Never seem to have to wait long for anything. Same with friends there. The have a private and wait no longer than 48 hours it seems. Nothing free in this world.....
JeanneP, is that $450. a month for what I call Medigap? Whatever isn't covered by Medicare? Is that $450. just for you? I don't pay nearly that much for my supplemental and I thought I was paying too much. If you think it's none of my business, you don't have to answer but the amount shocked me!
I've been trying to restore some semblance of order to my office. I don't seem to have a space free to set something down. And when school starts and Kiran wants to use the computer, I'll be in trouble. She just pushes things out of the way. I've got the shelves organized. Now for the desk!
JeanneP, I'm not exactly sure what I'm paying but SS Medicare sounds about right that comes out of my checking..... but I think I pay less than $200 per month for my supplemental... and my bypasses & new valve did not cost me an extra penny. I don't want to change anything... but I don't carry insurance for medicine, dental, anything extra. If Medicare covers, my supplemental takes care of the rest.... so far. I took an antibiotic twice this year & was surprised it was less than half what I paid a couple years ago and the 2nd round recently, was about half what it was just weeks earlier. I won't mention the name but my insurance has a color in it's name. I've checked with friends & neighbors & seems everyone uses the same company & policy.
Hal, glad to hear you don't have cancer & totally understand not catching all that came through the phone~ I ask for copies of tests, don't understand how to read them but can compare with same tests years before. One time a new nurse called with the report of the bone density.... all excited because it showed osteoporosis. I explained it was just a tiny bit better than about 20 years ago & I had not taken any meds, only vitamins. Medicare will allow me to have the bone test every 2 years but if I took any of the meds for osteo.... then they could run the test every year! I thought that was so outrageous I even asked the doctor if that wasn't bias in favor of the pharmaceuticals... still think it is wrong, wrong, wrong.. just the idea Medicare would pay every year if I took pills but NOT if I fix my own bones with vitamins! I don't want or need the extra tests, just the idea of catering to the pharmaceuticals. :idiot2:
We have a little cool down, some storms passing through... I planned to walk in the rain but didn't have time, each storm was here before I expected, even watching radar! I did get caught going to the store, got soaked but didn't have time to stroll.... A day in the 80s for tomorrow so will be a real treat.
Got to have the RV across town by 8:30 am.... to have the metal valve stems put on and a recall taken care of. So glad they discovered that recall & can fix it while I'm already there, Ford guy said it was emissions thingy. Trying to think of something I can bake & take for the guys..... drawing a blank. Maybe pick up a box of donuts.......
Good night, all.. God Bless & keep you healthy & happy.
No. I don't pay that for supplement. Just that I know many who do Pay that. It is a few years now and I remember my MIL paid $315 a month to Blue Cross and Blue Shield. She was up in 70s to 89 My daughter her Supplement with them now is $297 and she just got on Medicare. I don't have any as I have a Annuity which i took out on Retirement and getting on Medicare. Just to be used for health. Figured best way to go for me. And I have been very lucky not many problems health wise. I also find in looking at the charges friends get that have a supplement. Being on a Cash payment covering the 80% then you get quite a break from both Hospitals. Doctors. Its not for everyone and its a Gamble that not a massive ailment . But I have now used that system for 20 years so mine. My daugter and I had the same check up done by same ENT. covered Sinus, and some tests. her supplement was billed. additional $230. I got a balance due on my bill for $47. Insurance is something a person has a hard time understanding here. Just have to do what feels comfortable having.
as paid of.
I have got very good Dr. All specialist. Had most for over 20 years. Get full physicals yearly. Eye Dr. twice a year. Don't take prescriptions.
Just been very lucky and had good health. Tried to watch such as weight. Diet and watched any little thing that didn't feel right. I do believe that Genetics do be a part of it.
Joanie, I got an email from my PC nurse and she said the specialist I have to see are a vascular surgeon to check a blood vessel going to the kidney and also a Neurosurgeon for a spinal condition. Neurosurgeons office has already called and I have an appointment next month.
Joan, Everyfriends......
....re, paying into our NHS, we have no choice, money from our wage packet is automatically taken towards our NHS contributions, we are not given a choice, ( it is not an Insurance policy ) as to whether we choose to, or not to pay towards our medicals, it is just automatically deducted, ( Government Policy ).....If we require a better medical service we can then, if we choose fork out our own money, pick a Medical Insurance Plan, then go Private, becoming a Private patient, but in the meantime they continue deducting from our wage packet too for the rest of our working lives, no matter how many different employment jobs we undertake.....
Jackie, pretty much the same here..... taken out all the years we work & still taken out (or you have to pay the taxes quarterly or some only in April) on Social Security and any interest earned from money in the bank, pensions, etc. We also have estate, death & inheritance taxes when we die & a few pennies left over. :crazy2:
Storms are past us so need to shower & get some sleep.... early up morning & must be bright & alert to get that elephant across town by 8:30 am. :dogrunning: :dog:
SHIRLEY....
.....re, storms, that's why I am now up and about, gotten woken up just before 4am, had no Idea what the noise was, thought it was a helicopter hovering over our rooftop, woke me up with a mighty jump....a gush of 5 minute downpour of rain and winds pelting down real heavy on our rooftops, of course our parkhomes aren't bricks and mortar.....Had my first cup of tea already, my first of many, cant get back to sleep, so here I am....it is now coming up to 5am...
Oh yes, we have all that, Inheritance Tax.... I think if it can be taxed, it will be taxed, tax on tax if they had their way...
We even have something called a " Bedroom tax.."... " also known as under occupancy charge or the Spare Room Subsidy is a change to Housing Benefit Entitlement that means you will receive less in housing benefit if you live in a housing association or council property that is deemed to have one or more spare bedrooms..." as you can imagine, this is not popular...especially if a spare bedroom is needed on medical ground, re, medical equipment or porposes...
Shirley, you might need to explain to me about " getting that elephant across town..." ;D (https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi303.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fnn134%2Fbenjipetramegan%2Fth_elephant...shirley.gif&hash=52169e2aefad704e2b0877a52e2cf0f610185a4c)

Food For Thought
In Need of Hope
By John Kuperus
Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 19:1-18 He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,†he said. “Take my life.â€
1 Kings 19:4
Our community was shocked recently when a 21-year-old man shot himself. On the outside, he seemed to have it all together. He had good health, a girlfriend, a home, friends, and a family. He had completed high school and was set to make a difference in the world.
But internally he must have been suffering and struggling. We can only wonder how he may have wrestled with disillusionments or disappointments.
In 1 Kings 19 we find the great prophet Elijah in the desert. He had come to a place of hopelessness. From this place of emptiness and depression, Elijah turned to God in prayer. He did not take his own life, but asked God to take his life for him.
However, God met him in that place and sent an angel to help him. Elijah received some desperately needed food and rest, and when he was fortified, he traveled for forty days to the mountain of God. There God revealed to Elijah some more plans he had for him.
Sometimes we may feel that we are at the end of our rope. As we struggle in life, it is critical that we seek God’s face. He alone can give us hope and direction. Nothing can separate us from his love. Nothing!
Father, we grieve over loss of life and situations of hopelessness in this world. We are hungry for direction from you. By your Spirit and your Word, show us your will and give us hope, we pray. Amen.

JOAN....
....good Saturday morning.....the rain and winds woke me up 4am this morning with a jump, been up ever since, had my third cup of tea, and its now only just turned 9am.... I can tell this is going to be one of those days, several trips to the loo, that is when I find I can stay awake....no doubt I will be dozing off throughout the day, after only having 4 hours sleep....
Good Morning Everyfriend! I'm up and attem but I have to wait until 10 or so for breakfast. I'm having it at my daughter's with Natalie before she returns to Texas on Sunday. I think I might have to have a piece of toast to hold me over.
I finally had a night that I slept well aside from one small interruption. I went to bed early and at 11:09, I had a phone call. I was sound asleep at the time and I think I jumped a foot and a half! After that, it was a bit difficult to get back to sleep. Jackie understands that. Must be the night for interruptions.
I hope Everyfriend has a lovely day full of what you love best!
JANE S.....
......Oh yes, this morning I was fast asleep and in dreamland, never been woken up so quick, and so terrified of the sound I was hearing.....
Good morning everyone.
I woke to the sound of a gentle rain and one doggie patting my arm to tell me it was time to get up. Now both dogs have gone back to sleep, little stinkers.
Last evening I was working at the kitchen sink when a flock of geese flew over, they were so low that I could have tickled their tummies!
Today is a trip to a bake sale my friend is having then stop at a market to see another friend and have a look around. Then home to sew.
Mary Ann, I am glad she like the recipe, a no muss no fuss one it is.
Hal, happy to hear no cancer!!
Don, great photo of you and Bubble.
Jackie, cat naps are in order for you today.
Jane,enjoy your breakfast out.
Joan, thank you for breakfast.
Enjoy your day everyone.
Good morning, Vanilla-Jackie. Sorry you were awakened by a storm. You will need a nap today.
Janie--Good morning. It really scares me when my phone rings at such a late hour. Enjoy your breakfast with Natalie.
Good morning, Amy. It seems so many are having rain--but not us. On last night's local news they said my county has had 35 consecutive days without rain. Enjoy your outings today.
Good morning everyone.
hope you all are having a better time than we are.yesterday after noon the water dep. people called and said you must have a water leak your bill is $299.29 . we went out and got bob to bring his skid steer over and lift the covers off o the junction boxes and sure enough the water was flowing away full fores. so we went to the meter and turned off the water.
Sil is going to bring a back Howe over sn dig up old lone so we can install a new one. spit baths are in order here,
Have a great day.
Lloyd
Jane after we pay the water bill we will be out of $$$$ so don't look for any honey soon but we will keep you in mined.
no vacations for a while here now. but if you get to traveling and stop by you could pick up a bit of it. but at least it could be worse we are not getting flood damage's just reasonable rain. have a great day.
Lloyd
Lloyd, I think the water companies should make some kind of adjustment. It seems to me they must have seen the unusual rise in you water bill before it reached those proportions. One year when I was in Texas, I got notice from the water company noting that I might have a leak due to unusual use of water. Since no one was using water at my house, I called my son and asked him to go check. He found a toilet running and turned it off. My bill usually runs $40. to $45. a month. That month it was only $56. I'm sure your water was running faster than a toilet but it still seems unreasonably high.
I've got everything ready to make salsa and can it. That's either this afternoon or tomorrow.
Beverly is leaving for California today. I have to run over to her other friend's house and say my goodbyes. I'm pretty sure this will be her last trip East. And I'm not ever going to go West again so this is our last visit. We've been friends for almost 70 years even living so far apart. It's so sad to think of not seeing an old friend.
Guess I better get myself dressed if I'm going to be out running around today. Make it a good one, Everyfriend!
We had a water leak that was from a broken PVC pipe leading from the meter into the house. We got a water bill for several hundred dollars. Big shock! We went to the water dept. and they sent someone out to see what was wrong. We had the pipe repaired and the water dept. gave us a much lower total due because the leak was on the outside of the house. If it was on the inside pipes it would be up to us and to our homeowners insurance to foot the bill.
Good morning, All. Another very warm day here but I have no place I have to go so I'm staying right here. I'll make some granola later and applesauce from some nice Granny Smith's that I brought home from the market. Finished the Tomato Bisque last night that I had made from the beautiful tomatoes my neighbor shared with me. It was delicious and something that I'll make again. Also, shredded the last of the zucchini and put it into the freezer for making Zucchini bread later.....maybe at Christmas? And, cooked up several storage containers of tomato sauce and put in the freezer to use with meatballs and pasta. When the western NC apples start coming on the market I intend to make a lot of applesauce and apple butter. We are so blessed with all of the wonderful vegs. and fruit, etc. that we have here.
Take care, Everyfriend. Stay well and happy.
Good morning, Lloyd. Wow!! What a shock to get that high water bill.
Janie--I know your canned salsa must be great!! Yes, it is sad to say goodbye to friends that we know we will never see again. Do you and Beverly keep in touch via computer and phone.
Good morning, Phyllis. You folks make me feel so lazy when you tell about what you cook, can and freeze. Maybe you would put samples in the "hidey hole" for poor little me? :)
Hi everyone. We had a very nice late afternoon rain yesterday that lasted for a couple of hours and it didn't seem quite as hot. Our high for today is predicted to be 91 degrees with a chance of late afternoon showers again today.
Yesterday was a laid back day although I managed to stay busy. I did the weeks washing/drying and putting away. Then I fixed dinner. I fixed Tilapia (the first time I ever fixed fish) and the Balsamic Mushrooms that Pat likes (also a first). Happy to say both turned out well. I haven't a clue yet what we will have for dinner. I plan on staying home all day again today.
Joan, I think getting out to go to the chiropractor is about all Pat can handle right now. At least that gets her out of the house for a short time.
Joan, I remember several years ago when the Nitroglycerin tablets, that I was getting at Kroger for $4 for 100 pills went to over $25 for 25 pills. When I told my cardiologist he immediately checked on the computer in front of him and verified what I was saying. He apparently had no concept of what they cost. I wonder if that isn't true of a lot of doctors in terms of the cost of new medicines. What has never made sense is why you can go across the border into Mexico (and used to be able to order from Canada or Australia) and get the exact same medicine in the same sealed packing for a fraction of what we are required to pay in the USA. I have to think the ties between the FDA and the drug companies are a little too close.
Hal, I have about decided there is no such thing as getting caught up on medical appointments and tests. Sure good news to hear you do not have cancer. Like you I try to take things in stride and not worry about them. It is interesting how many people think we can get something for free. Somebody has to pay for all of the free things but this seems to be getting lost in our society.
Jackie, I haven't heard of the Bedroom tax existing here in the USA. I bet it has been considered however.
Amy, has your friend done all the baking for the bake sale? Is this for a charity?
Lloyd, glad you got that call before the bill got even higher. This reminds me that I need to buy one of the tools that can turn off the water at the street level. I left the one I had at my old house but never needed it.
JaneS, I know it will be a sad parting for you but at least you can stay in contact via the phone or Internet.
The US medical system ranks 37th among 119 developed nations, many Arab countries rank higher than us in medical care and the infant mortality and mother deaths in pregnancy are increasing along with our pharmacy and insurance billing. We pay more for less than so many other countries and it is sad that nothing is done.

Good morning, Larry. You are becoming quite the homemaker with cooking, laundry etc. I pray one of these days soon Pat will be able to get out and go someplace other than the chiropractor. I complain to my doctors all the time about the high cost of medicines. To tell you the truth, I think it goes in one ear and out the other. Doctors themselves charge outrageous prices, IMO.
angelface--Good morning. Interesting facts you posted. Thanks for the links. I will go to them when I am finished here.
Goodmorning. all my friends. It is pouring rain, which we need, was not in the forecast. Suppose to be partly sunny, every other day the weatherman has said possible rain. To day is the Polish Fair all roads in Polish town are close, fair last for two days, and they even come by bus loads, as fair away as up state. My neighbor is have a big engagement party for her son, she has it all setup out doors, as we have not had any rain in a month. The farmers are happy.
Larry Pat is going to make a cook out of you yet. I hope she feels better soon. You take care of yourself also. Prays for both of you.
Joan, I know you and all other join me in hopes this time Gloria will get this computer problem strighten out. the need to send her a new computer. This is the reason i would only buy one form a local store, then I could talk to someone face to face.
While I am writing Jess, just called and thanks everyone here for prays, he said they all help, he now can stand for a while, and move his legs for a short time. Still not walk.
Oh my is it muggy after the rain...had a great time at the bake sale and bought cookies, butter tarts and cheese bread..then pick up a big jar of honey at the market..
Larry, a group of ladies also bake and all proceeds go to a children's hospital in Montreal.
Lloyd, I think I would also be asking for them to reduce your water bill......no harm in asking.
Jane, you have wonderful memories of your friend to cherish.
LARRY HANNA.....
....Just looked the date up, says our Bedroom Tax started April 2013, the start of our tax year.....It has become so unpopular, I am sure given time it will get scrapped....Some argue that the spare bedroom be needed for carers to stay overnight....basically it is an unfair tax, many innocents are being penalised.....
Good Morning Everyone!
Got a rude awaking this morning. Phone rang and I was sound asleep and of course it always concerns me when the phone rings early morning. Except it wasn't early morning, I found later, it was 8 AM and some guy was on the line for Jamaica or India or overseas wanting to know how I felt, so I told him, in not too polite terms. So that was the end of a once in a great while late sleep. I got up put on coffee and then the dog decided she needed to take care of morning business so I let her out. And then I heard the wife coming down the hall, phone woke her also.
The dog came back in and she was damp and a light rain had started and continues as I type. Weather guy says we also have a real cold front headed our direction and will drop temps. Tisie, Callie it will really affect you with some nice drops in temp. If this is global warming, then bring it on.
Speaking of socialized medicine, as for me, I guess I am being a little hypocritical, I do get the medical benefits of government by being retired from the military. But they do not dictate how or when I provided with care, just pay the 20 percent copay and provide a prescription program. I also have a dental insurance program which I pay for out of pocket.
I just do not want medical care as provided by some governments. Where care is rationed. a stark contrast is like where Jackie reminds us that people still buy private health insurance so they can get medical care on their terms and in a reasonable amount of time. Some clerk administering medical care from a manual of regulations is not my idea of good medical care. Problem I see is that every time government gets involved in anything, I don't care what it is, the cost goes skyhigh and bureaucrats weave such a tangle of regulation that no one care fix it. The ones who messed it up always say, let us fix it for you and just mess it up more. Angel infant mortality figures U.S. vs other nations are not computed the same. We include abortions, other countries do not.
Hey Larry, sounds like you are doing a great job. I hope Pat gets back on her feet in short order. Us old rascals trying to remember what little we knew about cooking and learning some new tricks is the pits. My wife is doing okay now, but she is fed up with cooking and wants to go out to eat. And I get tired of res truant food.

Linedancer--I wish you could send us some of that rain. GREAT that Jessie is making progress. I continue to pray for him. I, too, think they should give Gloria a new computer.
Amy--Did you put samples of the baked goods you bought in the "hidey hole"? :)
Vanilla-Jackie--Glad we don't have a bedroom tax.
halkel--Did you say some not to nice things to that early morning caller? Many folks getting rain while we get NONE.
http://www.newsweek.com/many-cancer-patients-must-face-bankrupty-or-die-489596
However you compute it or add or divide, it doesn't change the ranking. Only we can do that.
Joan ,yes I did put some in the hidey hole but.I did taste them first to see if they are ok. :)
Larry, I too want to say what a great job your are doing...
angelface--I've heard of a few folks who had to make the choice of buying their medicine or buying food.
Amy--Glad you taste tested before putting them in the "hidey hole". Thank you. :)
Thanks for the goodies in the hidey hole. I'm being treated well. I went over to Cathy's and had brunch with them (the group included Courtney who drove up from Phila. to join us). Kyle is supposed to be coming sometime today. I'm going back over for supper (burgers and dogs on the grill) and Kyle should be there by that time.
Natalie and Cathy and I went to the consignment place where they have all kinds of furniture and housewares and whatever. I just went to look around and I found the neatest little stand for beside my recliner. I couldn't believe the price was only $17.50 so I bought it. Now I can get rid of the folding tray table that is there now. I'm going to go do it now. This one has a magazine rack on the bottom so I can put most of what has accumulate on top down there.
BBL...enjoy the rest of your day.
Jackie. Now I wasn't talking about what is deducted from paychecks while working. I am saying the on our Social Security Payments that we get after the age of 65 (If you paid while working) Then out of it Monthly is taken this deduction to cover 80% of health payments That is where the aprox. $
$1300 plus a year comes in. Some then buy a supplemental Insurance to cover the 20% still owing. That is not done in the UK. Nothing was taken out of the monthly SS checks that I saw my family getting.
I also get a monthly check from UK which is from what I paid in on the time I worked there.
I have said before. I don't complain about taxes I paid here in the 40 years of working. I feel I get well paid from the Social Security for what I paid in. Could not of invested that amount they took and it have earned what they pay me back..
I'm here......sort of.....woke early and got a load of laundry done, but it really wore me out. I don't plan on doing much else today, but I will have to go down for lunch, and that will be it.
Hal, I once asked my doctor when he suggested various tests, if they would cure anything. When he said No, they don't cure, they just let us know what is happening. So I said, "no more tests." They just wore me out and I felt I didn't have to know what the tests told them. He allowed me my rights.
JEANNE P.....
....... think I was responding to Joan, re, it isn't an Insurance.... ???
quoting, " Your insurance works different than ours...."
JUNEDRABEK....
.....good for you, we have our rights....and we must use them....
AMY....
.....so you are our chocolate taste tester?...... ;)
....LINDANCER.....
.....I have to make my apologies, as I havnt been picking up the story as to who Jess is....so haven't made any comments re, Jess's walking progress....
With having 2 big medical centres here they are alway wanting to be testing their equipment out it seems. They seem to have people taking MRI and things for the least thing.
I did got a call the other day to see if I would be interested in a test that they are now doing on some new shot which will be given to people over age 65. It replaces the yearly flu shot. But will cover other things. Not for me. I told her happy with the one that they give us over 65s last year. Mention that I had to make sure I didn't get the one that couldn't take if had any food allergies. So she said I couldn't take this new one they are going to try anyway. I think I am to old to be used as a lab test pig now.
We finely got some more rain this morning. Good but to bad for the big food and entertainment that started in town for last night and today. about 30 venders will be getting soaked through. It has stopped now so maybe will be O.K for rest of day.
Last week it was the State fair and there it rained for 3 days hard. Now they are saying that it lost a lot of money this year. Always bad when venders come from so far away and they do hire expensive entertainment.
After this weekend we most probably will not get rain again for awhile.
So today I am going to go spray about a gal. of weed kill out on my yard. Never seen so many weeds come up so tall and fast. Looks awful. Think also some Poison Ivy out there as I got it all around my ankles. Always catch it so easy.. Stuff from Drug store not working and so I am back on the Vinegar and Baking soda wash. Also someone told me put Vicks on and it does stop the inching.
Janie--Enjoy the time you have with various family members today.
JeanneP--I didn't know you could draw SS from UK and US, too.
June--At least you got a load of laundry done and plan to go down for lunch.
Vanilla-Jackie--I guess I am confused about different insurances/payments.
Jackie, that is such a difficult job......testing tasting chocolate to make sure it is up to our standards in here....but I will tough it out and make sure I test every morsel so that we all can enjoy it.. :2funny:
Amy, we are so lucky to have you, always thinking of ways to help us! :)
Joan. Yes. If you lived and Worked in UK then when retire no matter where you are you still can get S S from UK. Now if I went back to UK then my SS that I get here would be Sent to me UK. Many people go back to their countries like I know people gone back to Poland. Germany. Ireland and UK. Mexico, Mostly because their income will get you more in those countries.
Right now have 2 of my UK friends have moved to France and bought homes. Both retired now. Their UK Pensions go much further in the South of France. Houses and everything. Usually not taxes to pay either.
Something is telling me to send another email to Kelly...I just cant get it out of my head that he is purposely ignoring our pms and emails, that something has to be wrong....anyway having another attempt at connecting with him....been three months now he hasnt been in contact with any one of us, just doesn't make sense, even if he has gone AWOL before, there just doesnt seem to be any sense for his sudden disappearance, I have even checked on his last postings to see if he left any clues......his last posting was to me of the 16th May.......ok maybe he is just busy, but then there is no reason to ignore everyone who tries to contact him, as it proves we only care, or if it is his Internet playing up, I am sure it would be sorted by now....We just need to know that he is not ill, nor had an accident, in hospital or worse, dead....
" Hi Jackie
I am not usually up early, but busy these past few days, so the early starts mean I can get more done..."
Kelly.....
.........................................
Hi Everyone
I forgo to say my internet is not working properly!
It is on and off at times, a good part of yesterday I could not get on during the day and evening.
Kelly
We had an interesting afternoon today - a tornado warning. I turned on the TV and my computer and Tom watched his computer and the tornado went by us. A friend of Tom's was married two weeks ago and they are heading for California where they will live. They were in the SW corner of our county right where the tornado was do Tom directed him to get out of the way and come to our condo until the danger was over. There are a lot of people without power but we were not affected.
Mary Ann
Amy--You are a "trooper". :)
angelface--She sure is. :)
JeanneP--Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Vanilla-Jackie--I wouldn't know how to contact Kelly if he doesn't answer emails.
Mary Ann--Tornado warnings are scary, I know. When we lived in Arkansas there were many warnings and actual hits with devastation in some areas. Glad the one there skirted you.
I am off to bed now, my bedtime 11.30pm.....hope to get more sleep than I did last night of 4 hours...not even caught up today just some short sleep at the computer around the afternoon....I shall say goodnight....
Jacquie, at my age of close to 92, I know the body is going to fail in many ways, so why try to prolong it with testing that only makes the body more weary, and gives me something to worry about. Day by day is good enough for me, in fact I am most thankful for each day the Good Lord gives me. My life span is His business, not mine.
Bis, I skipped going down for lunch. Just no energy at all, so heated up some stuff I had in my little freezer, and had some fresh fruit, and lots of good rest. I do hope I will feel better tomorrow..I want to go to Chapel services downstairs. It's all up to God.
Jackie, I am so glad you have access to emailing Kelly. I think we are all concerned for his well being.
I have to think about something for a light supper..may open a can of chicken noodle soup.. I'm sure not hungry, but the body does require fuel, so I will oblige it.
Had a good supper and lots of laughs with the kids. And a very handsome taxi driver brought me home....my grandson Kyle. He's such a sweetheart! I really love my grandkids!
And now I'm going to go check up on the Olympics and then hit the hay early. I wish you all a very good night and may God bless us every one.
Pat visited Don and Bubble and has posted some of the photos she took: HERE (http://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=11.msg42757#msg42757)
Jeanne Lee, Thank you so much for the great pictures. I felt I was there in person, they are so clear, and Bubble and Don just light up the screen with their love.
Now the day has come to a close, and I am going to prepare for bed and book. Hoping tomorrow will find me fresh and ready to face the world. Have a peaceful night dear friends. I send you Love and Hugs and Prayers. June
JUNEDRABEK.....
.....Just took Kelly's email from his profile page.....just cant understand why the lack of communication from him, others too have tried to get in contact with no luck, guess I just feel the worst, and its that " not knowing " feeling...
June, my late father always had that philosophy that..." once they start cutting you about..." re, hospitals, he had a fear about that, and he sure was right there, re, his cancer....
As for me, I just want to stay away from med's as long as I can, unless one is to save my life....
A new week for Soda Shoppe begins HERE (http://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=230.0).
