Gloria

Good morning everyone, from what I just heard on the TV we are in for storms at times all day today and tomorrow will be in the upper 90's. Yuck.

MARY ANN  I always found early morning sun is not that strong so the house plants benefit. Thinking about it now I don't think I ever had north windows where there has been a place for plants.

JUNE  with the way my back is it is very hard to keep it upright, even using the rollator.

JOAN  glad Joe and Kate were there to take care of your AC trouble. I am glad my 2 sons are close enough if I need help. Would be wonderful if Finlay does become a doctor. He has smart parents and I know they must have already taught him to use his brain.

DON  wonderful photo and you both look so happy.

GLORIA de  good news about Jess. I agree, they were great either together of with different actors.

JANE  I don't know what you are worried about and there is no one but you who knows what you think is best.

The rain has started here, that's good, we need it, as long as the thunder storms stay away.

JOAN  another tasty breakfast. Thank you for today's goodies.

Good Morning,

:hb3:  Junee.  I have such good memories of the dinner at Ginnie B's when you and Whimsy were in Oklahoma years ago (well - except for the Marmite!   :2funny:).

#1 son is coming for a "day-after-his-birthday" lunch.   I had planned to make apple dumplings (a favorite of his) but my "get up and go" didn't..... so, since I have the ingredients for a dump cake using apple pie filling and spice cake mix, I'm going to make it.  He'll never know the difference.  :)

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

JoanFL

Good morning, halkel.  Bet with your haircut you DO look like a quarterback.:)  It's very humid here, too.

Mary Ann--Good morning.  Enjoy your family lunch.

Good morning, Gloria.  I sure was glad to have Joe and family here, and they helped me out with several things I can't do.

Callie--Good morning.  Have an enjoyable lunch with #1 son.

Good Morning all, guess I didn't get in let night. I'm not too surprised. I was tired all day long, and still tired after a nice long sleep. My Gary will be doing our Bible lesson for today, so I will go for that for sure, but may skip the other programs scheduled.

Don, the picture of you and Bubble just GLOWS…thank you so much for sharing you joys with us.

Bis, that is pretty scary to find an empty oxygen tank, plus the AC going out..whew !  I have a ceiling fan over my bed too, and can't imagine how I lived so many years without one. You are so correct, that we would have to walk in Janie's shoes before we make a judgement. I'm sure she knows we were talking with love for her, I hope so.

Larry, don't push yourself in "doing" to the extent that you end up in bed.And that is sure a long wait at the doctors office, especially when you are not well.

Junee, my wishes for a VERY happy Birthday dear friend. We are so blessed to have you as a friend, and close in our age too. Alleluia !!!!

Janie dear, may God Bless you day, all day long. I love you.

Hal…….what would the Team be able to to without the Water Boy ????????

Bis, I hope our Finlay fulfills his wish to be a doctor. With the background he has, and the great work he does in school, and with two grateful parents behind him, he is the doctor I would surely choose.

Oh, dear, it is almost 9:30…..I have to scoot…….
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good afternoon, hot and muggy, also the sun goes in and out.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUNEE,  ENJOY  :balloons:

JaneS I am sure to day with be the day, you only see happy people.

Joan, like the joke about the hearing aids, I understood, as I wear hearing aids :)

MaryAnn, hope you found that resturant, and enjjoyed your mearl

Gloria, they have said rain, all day today, and showers right through next Tuesday.  We will see,  Hate to see the weekend bad, as so many have plans.   We do need the rain, the Pine Barrons are like a tinder box right now.  Years ago they were on fire, and it lasted for days.

Good morning Gloria! It is such good news about Jess!

Junee, I hope you are enjoying a wonderful birthday!

JoanFL

June--I know you thoroughly enjoy Bible Study, especially when your Gary is the presenter.  For sure, "F" can be anything he wants to be with such supportive parents and if he applies himself.

Linedancer--Glad you enjoyed the hearing aid chuckle.  After days of getting promised for rain, last evening we finally got about an hour's worth last night at supper time.

Hi Angelface.

You are all so right!  I'm the only one who can deal with what's happening right now.  I do appreciate everyone's input but in the end, what happens, will happen and I'll make the best of it.

June, I know everyone on here speaks with loving care for what happens to each of us and we can mull over the advice and do it if it seems to work or not do it if it doesn't.  Sometime, a different viewpoint on anything makes sense.

Gloria, I don't think I mentioned that I cheered for Jess.  I keep him in my prayers every day.  It's got to be working...so many people asking God to give him a hand!

Must get a few things done.  I'll try to come back later.   Enjoy your day.

P.S.  found a few more of my "wits" floating around in here.  Many are back in place.  The rest can't hide forever.

I have got to get out of this habit of taking a nap. Just started because of the hot weather. Can't go out in it.  I have never taken naps before but seem like I go by the bedroom about 1pm and bed just calls me. Take about a hour, no more or no less.
Need to go out to the store soon. Just across the road. Then will wait until about 6pm and go out for awhile.
Not had any rain for about 6 days or more. They are saying Friday. But then 94 deg after. That is the day I am suppose to be running around with the GGC. Then they head back East on Saturday.  Wish was a good childrens movie starting Friday. No in the mood for hot Zoos or such.

Back again, My Gary did an excellent teaching job today, and he taught me a good lesson. He told us that when he is told how "good" he is in his preaching, he says he Thanks them, but "it is not me that is preaching, it is God teaching others, through him." It sure made me feel humble. It is so easy to enlarge ourselves on the kindness of others.

I came home a took a short rest, then back down later for a good lunch with others. I had a cup of cream of chicken soup, a grilled chicken sandwich, a serving of steamed broccoli, a big glass of tomato juice, a cup of coffee, and brought home half of my sandwich for tonights supper. Also had a huge ice cream cone for dessert. also brought home two big choc. chip cookies, and two small cartons of peach yogurt. Now I am home for the day, and ready for a nice long nap.

Some nut is climbing Trump Towers, using suctions cup as hand and foot holds. He is now on the fifth floor. God be with him, why some people tempt gavity I will never understand.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

JoanFL

JeanneP--If I feel tired during the day, I feel I deserve a nap.  It doesn't change my night's sleep.  Enjoy your great grandchildren.

June--Gary is a wise man.  Your lunch sounds yummy.  I saw that jerk climbing Trump Tower.

Many thanks JOAN for your bright Birthday wishes . Appreciate all those good wishes that came my way. To JaneS,Amy,Jackie,Hal,MaryAnn,Callie,June,GLORIA D and Angel.
Most of the day was my usual quiet day . Grandson and friend arrived to install a new screen on my computer for which I was so grateful as hard to read on the old one but of course now have to learn a few new things about this one and for me that takes time.
Hal, yes if able good to have these years.

CALLIE.  Have plenty of time these days to remember Oklahoma and that dinner at Nancy's
Hope you are well, just hang in there, several passed on since those days. Remember you on the dance floor at Montreal dancing the light fantastic in your stockinged feet.

I'm not getting my to-dos done today... tough~  BUT, did want to make it in to wish.....

:hb3:  :hb2:  :bestwishes:   Happy Birthday, Junee!  :hb3: :hb2: :bestwishes:   :happybday:

June Drabek

Junee, I am so glad your Grandson and friend came by to see you and improve your screen. Family is so necessary to us, and so welcome in our lives. Memories of days past are so valuable, aren't they ? Most all of my old pals are gone now but they still live in my heart.

Tisie, not a day passes that I do not put many of my "to-do's" to the side. More and more napping seems to accost me at various hours of the day, even after a full good nights sleep. This may be a sign of aging, but I can accept it, as long as I wake up eventually.  :)
As long as we are here, let's dance.

My friend left to spend some time with her other friend and my daughter Cathy picked me up to go see THE AFRICAN QUEEN on the big screen.  Our local theater has been purchased by Bucknell University and has showings of some classic movies from time to time.  It was so good!  I wish I could have taken all of you along.

Now I'm headed for an early bed.  I plan to have my window open a crack and let the blessed rain lull me to sleep.  This is our second rain today and you can almost hear the grass, flowers and trees sighing with relief.

Good Night Everyfriend!

Janie, I have watched The African Queen several time and never tire of it. They just don't make enjoyable movies any more, unfortunately.

Time for this aging  person to close down the computer and and retire for the night. May you all have a Blessed sleep and a happy tomorrow. Keep well.....I love you all and need you in my life. June

CHUCKLES

Bessie the Cow

A man was driving down a country road in the middle of dairy farm country when his car stalled inexplicably. He got out and raised the hood to see if he could find out what had happened.

A brown and white cow slowly lumbered from the field she had been grazing in over to the car and stuck her head under the hood beside the man.

After a moment the cow looked at the man and said, "Looks like a bad carburetor to me." Then she walked back into the field and began grazing again.

Amazed, the man walked back to the farmhouse he had just passed, where he met a farmer. "Hey, mister, is that your cow in the field?" he asked.

The farmer replied, "The brown and white one? Yep, that's old Bessie."

The man then said, "Well my car's broken down, and she just said, 'Looks like a bad carburetor to me.'"

The farmer shook his head and said, "Don't mind old Bessie, son. She don't know a thing about cara.

Food For Thought

Ten gifts that do not cost a cent!
(Author Unknown)

1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING...
      But you must REALLY listen.
      No interrupting, no daydreaming,
      no planning your response.
      Just listening.

2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION...
     Be generous with appropriate hugs,
kisses, pats on the back and handholds.
Let these small actions demonstrate the
love you have for family and friends.

3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER...
     Clip cartoons.
     Share articles and funny stories.
Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you."

4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE...
      It can be a simple
"Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet.
A handwritten note may be remembered
for a lifetime, and may even change a life.

5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT...
     A simple and sincere,
"You look great in red," "You did a super job"
or "That was a wonderful meal"
     can make someone's day.

6) THE GIFT OF TIME...
Often what most says "I love you" is your
presence both physically and emotionally to
nourish the relationships in your life.

7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE...
There are times when we want nothing better,
     than to be left alone.
Be sensitive to those times and give the gift
     of solitude to others.

8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION...
The easiest way to feel good is
to extend a kind word to someone,
really it's not that hard to say,
     Hello or Thank You.

9) THE GIFT OF PRAYER...
Since God can help others where we cannot,
sincerely praying for someone is a tremendous
     gift (and responsibility).

10) THE GIFT OF YOURSELF...
There are countless ways you can do favors
for others by giving of yourself. Offer to babysit
for someone you know that needs time to themselves, shovel
off the neighbor's driveway while shoveling off your own, etc.
You get the idea. Get creative and give of yourself.

Good Thursday morning Joan, Amy and Everyfriends.....

Amy, same here, Dr's appointment in the afternoon, early evening,.... tried to make a morning app, but this is my only and earliest app, unless I wait till next week....Have made a shortlist of questions for GP....like how will she monitor it? and although Gyno has found something, how can I be sure this is my bleed problem? as he didn't pick up on the day any bleed....I still need to be convinced nothing else not picked up on yet, still waiting to be found..... is to be my main route of problem....
Amy, hoping all goes well with Hubby's appointment...

Joan, " Thought of the Day..." very clever play with words, I am assuming they dont necessarily mean money.....earn all the " respect " you can....".... give all you can.... "..... love, commitment, friendship, loyalty...." save all you can..." good memories....

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Today is going to be a good day!  It has to be!  it rained most of the night and the ground is relieved and I slept a full 8 hours!  I haven't done that in months!  Sorry for all the exclamation points but it's going to be that kind of day.  I feel it in my bones.

I'm meeting Beverly for lunch and then taking her along to WM for some things I need and some things she needs.  And I'm actually looking forward to today's activities.

I hope Everyfriend has a lovely day and if you need rain, I hope you get it.

Good morning everyone, once again I did not make it last night here. This is the most comfortable PC chair I have had but still hard sitting here by that time of day. Yesterday I did not get out for fresh air and walking and I sure will not today either. Weather guessers are still saying it will feel like close to 100° with the humidity. Already 78° showing on the TV. I feel bad for anyone who has to work outside. It has been a few years since we had a day like this.

JOAN  so glad that Joe could help you the short time he was there. Glad Joe will be back to help with your car. Don't know why dealers and mechanics still think they can pull the wool over women's eyes. Some know more than men do. My sons I think have finally realized that there are so many things I can no longer do. Oldest will be retiring soon and hope he will visit more. Younger one is the one who comes every week. He has always been the thoughtful and helpful one. My daughter is like that but she is 3000 miles away. Have to be careful about what I say I would like because before I know it I get it in the mail.

GLORIA de  like you I feel for those who work all week and then have a rainy week end. I remember times like that. We did have rain on and off yesterday, a light steady rain when it fell but not enough of it.

JANE  no one can tell another person what they should do. We never know the others worries or problems. We each do what we have to or can do.

JUNE  glad they got that “nut” off the outside of the Trump Tower.

JUNEE  sorry I am a day late.
:hb2: JUNEE  :hb2:
Happy Belated Birthday

JANE  been years since I saw the African Queen on the big screen. Doubt I could sit long enough to enjoy a movie at a theater anymore. That was a good movie with great actors.

JOAN  oh I will enjoy a sticky bun this morning. First thing I do in the AM is shut the AC off and open a window to get some fresh air in.  Most days that is fine for a few hours. This morning the window is closed already and the AC is on again. Like chuckle. Ten gifts is now copied and will be shared. Thank you for all today's goodies.

AMY  glad the AC in your van is working. Hope appointment is good news.

JANE  glad you slept great and woke feeling more chipper again.

I got a weird email yesterday from Microsoft. Something about charging for services like Skype and a few other things starting on August 1st. Te find out more information click here for something else another click here. Needless to say I did not believe a word of it. I deleted after reading it. I might believe it is it was announced on the news, not is an email.

Hi everyone.  We have a cloudy morning and only expect to get to 90 degrees this afternoon but not likely to get any rain.  We did get a brief downpour yesterday morning.  We have had enough rain that I didn't need to water the yard this morning.  I hope to have a fairly quiet and enjoyable day today.  I will pick up my friend from the Assisted Living Home and we will go to coffee and then I will bring him home again and head back to the church for the Wisdom class.  I do plan on making a potato salad today and perhaps a broccoli/cauliflower salad as well. Pat is really feeling no better and didn't even attempt to lay in the bed last night but slept in her easy chair, where she is not in pain.

They are making great strides on the new home across the street.  On Tuesday they put down the concert floor of the home.  Yesterday they put up most of the first floor wood for the walls and they are back there again this morning continuing the construction.

deAngel, another major step for Jess.  I know it is a long process.  Hope you got some of the needed rain.  Even with this extremely hot summer, everything is still pretty green down this way.

Callie, I had to look up Marmite as have never heard that word before.  I think any dessert with apples in it has to be good.

June, while I tire easily I also can recover with sitting down for a few minutes.  I am doing that this morning in getting Pat's breakfast, emptying the dishwasher, doing a load of laundry and my normal daily watering chores.  It will all get done eventually.  That "nut" who climbed on the Trump Tower will now have time to contemplate what he did while in jail for awhile.  I guess he got his two hours of glory, although I don't think his name has been released and his behavior shouldn't be encouraged by a lot more publicity.

Junee, a new monitor is always welcome as one can usually see a big increase in the colors shown.

Joan, I really liked your Food for Thought today.

JoanFL

Good morning, Gloria.  Thank goodness you have a/c to keep you comfortable on the warm days.  I hope now that you son is going to retire he will be visiting you more often.  I sure am thankful that Joe is willing to come all the way back to take care of getting my car fixed.  If I were you I would "Google" and see if that's true about Microsoft charging for Skype.

Larry--Good morning.  You are becoming quite the cook/housekeeper. :)  I am so sorry that Pat isn't feeling any better.  Glad you liked the "Food For Thought".

Good Morning dear friends, I woke at three a.m. again, but fortunately was able to fall back into a sort of sleep. Up at six to take the first pill of the day, back to doze for another 45 minutes. Rang the button to let them know I was alive and well then on to prayer time and exercise time. Now I have had two cups of coffee, a half an English muffin toast, and my brain and eyes want to go back to bed and more sleep. There are programs to attend downstairs, but I just can't work up the energy to socialize.

Larry you are doing an exceptionally great job at taking over the necessary duties that you have not handled before. Having the good sense to rest when tired is so wise. I applaud you.

Gloria, it looks like we have reached that point in life that we realize we cannot do all we would like to do, so we will just be satisfied to do what we can and then rest.

Right now, I am going to make my bed, Put on some "walking" clothes and rest again. Have a great day everyone...we have much to be thankul for.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Good Morning Everyone!

Just got back home from men's breakfast and bible study.  Enjoy both very much.  Always good conversation and learning experience.

Not much else on tap here for today.  My middle daughter and her daughter will be here this afternoon.  My Granddaughter has received her new visa for France so she will be headed back "home" and marriage in short order.  Sadly, I feel it will be the last time I will see her.  But maybe not.

Larry you have been a busy beaver this morning.  It is really surprising how quick they can put a house together.   You will have new neighbors in short order.

I am so envious of you who are receiving rain.  Once again it is all around us but that old High just keeps hanging around and wont let anything develope here.

Everyone have a good day.

JoanFL

June--You seem to have had spurts of sleep last night.  Guess this will be a resting day for you.

halkel--No possibility of you going to France for the wedding?  I, too, am envious of those getting rain.
