Good Sunday morning, Everyfriend.  There's sausage and cheese biscuits to go with your coffee or tea.  Have a blessed Sunday.

Thanks to Phyllis for her lovely “June” graphic creation which we are using this week.

Chuckles

Robberies

The area had been hit with an epidemic of robberies perpetrated by the notorious gentleman burglar.

One night Sally woke and shook Jim. "Jim, there's a burglar in the house," she said.
"There is not," He said sleepily. "Go back to sleep."
Just then a man sprang from inside a closet. "There is too," he declared. "Now apologize to the lady."

Food For Thought

Death for the Christian
(By Chris Long)

I would like to open with a short story by Corrie Ten Boom:

"A man and his son went over a long, narrow bridge. It was over a broad river, and the boy said, 'Daddy, I am afraid. Do you see all that water down there?'

'Give me your hand, boy,' the father said. The moment the boy felt his father's hand, he was not scared.

In the evening they had to go back again, and this time it was pitch dark. 'Now I am more afraid than this morning!' the boy cried.

The father took the little fellow in his arms. Immediately the boy fell asleep, to awaken the next day in his own bed.

This is what death is like for the Christian. He falls asleep and wakes up at Home."

Thought of the Day

“Some days are better, some days are worse.  Look for the blessing instead of the curse.  Be positive, stay strong, and get enough rest.  You can’t do it all, but you can do your best.”

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I went to bed early last night.  I guess the events of the day before finally caught up with me and I was truly exhausted!  I was climbing in and realized it was only 9:30 and I hadn't even said goodnight to my friends.  I hope you all slept well and are ready for this "rare day in June".

I'll be getting ready for church soon and then be off.  After church, I'm going to visit the Farmer's market.  Have a great day Everyfriend!

Well today is Sunday, for sure, and I am fixing to get myself cleaned up, have some coffee and head out for church.  Looks like we got more showers last night.

June, no way they going to keep you tied down....I hope you got liability insurance on that walker.

Everyone have a good day.

God morning everyone, got side tracked last night. Watched an old movie Houseboat with Cary Grant and Sophia Loren. I enjoyed the comedy.  One thing I want to know, CALLIE and JANE  when are you taking your show on the road? Hope you get to this area, would go to watch enjoy your comedy.
Rain in the forecast for today, possible
thunderstorms this afternoon and again during the night.

PHYLLIS  beautiful graphic for this week once again.

JOAN  I will enjoy your breakfast with my coffee. Chuckles is funny, just thinking of a burglar being so polite to the lady had me laughing. Like Food for Thought, a simple explanation but touching. Good quote, so true. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JUNEE  hello.

JANE  like you I read last night's posts in the commercial breaks in the movie and I did not post.

AMY  a day of rest? Would you know how to take even one day with doing nothing?

HAL we are in for rain later but we do need some.

Hi everyone.  It is an overcast and very humid morning.  During the night we had about 1 3/4 inches of rain so sure won't need to water the yard tomorrow.  I just checked to be sure I hadn't turned it back on and had not.  We will attend Sunday School and Church and then get something to eat before coming home for a restful afternoon.  I plan to watch the last day of the Colonial Golf Championship later this afternoon.  Pat made a most delicious lemon pie from scratch yesterday with actual meringue.  It is probably the best lemon pie I have ever eaten.

Hal, I seem to be making more unforced errors (as they say in tennis) as it was Don I was trying address about the tread mill.

Callie, I decided quite awhile ago that I don't need someone else to tell me what I need to eat.  I try to do things in moderation and after the guidelines are proven incorrect.  Is Emily umpiring at the College Softball Games?  I see she is now a TV star.

Joan, I had posted in the Soda Shoppe what was met to be in Norm's Bait & Tackle.  When I discovered the error I removed the posting and put it where it belonged and then posted here.  Yesterday didn't seem to be my day for accuracy but like most things the error was easily corrected.  :)

June, I doubt that Ali had any back talk from his children as he would be pretty fearsome.  I read yesterday that the children are probably going to battle over his estate.  That is so sad as only the lawyers will benefit.

Jackie, very pretty dogs and lovely sofa as well.

Don, the cardiac rehab I did for four years involved many more people that all came at the same time.  There were nurses to check us in and a doctor usually there in case of an emergency.  In fact, he sent me to the ER a couple of times from the rehab in an ambulance and finally told me to do what I could on my own.

Patricia, that is a beautiful picture and view that you have.  Is the park?

Jenny, it sounds like all that supervision of Bob was very tiring work!  :)

Joan, I really liked your Food for Thought today and the graphic Phyllis made for our pleasure.  It is a good one.

Good Morning from the cloudy Interior, not sure what the day will bring as it is only 4:33am.

Farrah has been really comfortable the last two or three days, but I have said that before so that is also a "we'll see."

Larry, there is a group of parks, bike trails, and walkways built along the Chena as it goes through town. The plaza is just the one nearest me. It is part of a long ago city beautification effort by the Garden Club and others. And best seen when all the flowers are out and blooming.

It is a very nice view through the cam. My view is through some birch trees, not so grand but the carillon counts the hours with music and bells and I watch the boats, canoes and floatplanes go by.

I'm back from church and what do you know?  Another emergency in the making.  A light came on in my car and a little buzzer squealed at me.  What next?  I guess I'll be stopping by the garage in the morning.

Good morning halkel.  Good thing you figured out today was Sunday so you don't get your wife miffed.:)

Gloria--Good morning.   Did your son get your grocery shopping done yesterday?

Good morning, Larry.  Now I understand how I answered you before you posted.  That's lots of work to make a lemon meringue pie from scratch.  Your mention of it has me salivating.

angelface--Good morning.  Hope Farrah is REALLY settled in, but one never knows for sure.

Good Morning,

I think Jane and I could call our duo "What Next?" !

Yesterday began with Miss Emily's arrival at 1:00 a.m. and ended with son/dil here for two hours last night fixing a goof I'd made when I accidentally pushed the wrong button on the tv remote  - and then installing two mini cable boxes that Cox is now requiring because they're going all digital.  Installation wasn't hard but dil ended up having a long conversation with a techie getting everything set up on both tvs.
I didn't make it to bed any earlier than usual - and I was exhausted!

Gloria,  Jane and I can't leave for the road until we find the red RV and hire those stewards....and we are very particular - especially about the stewards!   ;)

Larry,  although Emily, who is college Senior, played League softball from ages 6-18, she is working "behind the scenes" at the college tournament.  On Friday night, she helped stock concession stands throughout the stadium.  Yesterday,  she was a "ball girl" - taking new balls to the umpires when they were replacing ones used in the game.
We don't see that happening during the tv broadcasts.  The camera just happened to catch her in the background as one of the players walked up to bat.
Her mom caught another picture of her when an umpire was consulting with someone in the area where she was.  Unfortunately, it isn't very flattering because she's fixing the scrunchie in her hair and looks as if she's about to clobber the ump over the head.   Facebook friends had a good time commenting on this one.

Off to get ready for church - hoping today will be calmer than the last few have been.

....and wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Forecast is predicting more of
the same for the next couple of
weeks.   Great weather for Gardens!
Not so much for spending time at

All is well here!  Glad to see

Good Morning all, I had a broken sleep last night. Woke up at midnight, and sleep didn't come, so I read till the wee hours of the morning, then was awakened by the phone. My loyal friend, Harry ,back at Sunwest Village still phones me on Sunday morning at six a.m. so I get to Church on time.

Have finished the first cup of Java so I feel more awake. But there will be a nap waiting for me by afternoon.

Hal, that walker has become my closest friend..very loyal, very accommodating, reassuring, and never talks back. I hope you have a beautiful Sunday.

Larry, "Money is the root of all evil". I never understood that for years, but it certainly has proven to be a truthful statement. I just can't fathom people fighting over what a loved one has left behind after death. I need have no fear of that in my family. They have made their own way in this life time, and want for nothing.

Sandy, life is too short to pass up any opportunity to enjoy it to the fullest. I'm sure you felt the same way as you started on your trip around the United States. If we get interrupted while doing our "thing", at least we enjoyed the trip.

Bis, I am sending you special thanks, and a hug, for all you do for us every day of the year. It is greatly appreciated.

Callie--Good morning. You've had some long days of late.  I think "What Next" is a dandy name  for you and Jane's duo.  When my cable company went digital, they came and put the adapters on the 3 TVs that needed them.

Good morning, Sandy.  They are predicting bad weather here starting tonight and lasting several days.  We'll see.

June--Sorry your night's sleep was broken.  That often happens to me.  Thank you for acknowledging what I do here each day.

Larry, my mother was well known for her lemon meringue pies.  It is one of my favorites.  I've made it from scratch and from boxed puddings; Mother's were made from scratch.

I have the PGA tour on my TV but I'm only watching it occasionally and not listening to it.  Maybe when I'm finished computing, I'll turn on the sound.

Dot and go I did our usual - church then OTB.  The place was quite busy but we had to wait a longgg time for our order.  An employee was at the coffee bar so Dot asked her about our order.  She told another employee who came and took our ticket and shortly came with our order.  It was exactly an hour that we waited and that is very unusual.  Mr Burger, aka Cholesterol Pit, is a cafeteria type place; you place your order and they give you a slip with a number on it and when your order is ready, your number is called and you go by the cashier to pick it up.

We had a thunderstorm early this morning but things are drying off now.  At least I don't have to water my outside plants.

Goodafternoon, Yesterday i was hot all day.  Today I have a sweater on.  I feel much better.  Thursday I woke up with a rash, doctor looked at it, and said it could be somthing I ate. I had shrimp scampie, and been eating  a lot of cherries, nothing else that I can think of. I was up and till 2AM with restless leg.  something new.  A suggestion from someone was rub Vick on it at night.
The fun of getting old.

Phyllis, thanks for the lovely graphic.  I also love the color blue.

MaryAnn, when I finish here, I wil go watch golf, it is just starting to rain.

Thanks Joan as always. I to also like your Food for thought.

Sandy, I have always like the change of seasons. The first year in Charleston, we had the front door open, it was so hot on Christmas Day, it did not seem right.

Gloria, I have watched House Boat many times.  You can not go wrong with the old movies, and good actors.

June, I just love reading your happy go lucky post.  We were all so worried about you.

Larry I love lemon meringue pie, my son did too.

Callie, you cheered me up when I read about your adventure with the smoke alarm.  A few weeks ago my neighbor came running over when she heard mine, I was cooking a piece of ham, had already turned it, but the alarm still was blasting away.  she started fanning it.

Amy, we have had quite a few yard sales,  Our big one was when we sold our house, we had it for 3 days.  We made good money, all the old tools in the barn was grabed up, scye, sharping stone, you set on, hay racks etc. We also had a corn crib full of stuff. Even my sons soap box racer, that he drove in Akron, OH,  It is a lot of work.  I had a few helpers for the big one.

Amy, apologies, I know that is twice now you asked me how Benji is doing....Benji is doing well, better as the days go by, been 5 days now and he puckers up for a kiss, and has picked up a soft plush toy wanting me to play, but I tell him " not yet....." wait a little longer....just two more days of meds to go....then told another week maybe before he heals.......He still shows signs occasionally, as if stitches are in his mouth and getting in the way.... but its certainly not stopping him from eating well.... :dancingdog:

Mary Ann--I am ashamed to say patience is not one of my virtues.  If we were out for a real special occasion meal, I might wait an hour to get my meal.  But in a place such as you describe, after 30 min. I would have gotten up and walked out.

Linedancer--No way does one need a sweater here--that won't happen until probably Nov. Sorry about your rash and your restless leg syndrome.  I have a friend that suffers terribly from that.  Even with medication, she's often unable to get a good night's sleep.

Vanilla-Jackie--Glad Benji is doing so well in recuperating from his procedure.

:bravo:  Thanks to all for your appreciation of this week's graphic.   Those are some of my favorite colors, too, and I have always liked the blue and lime green combination.

Hot, humid, and summery here today but no thunderstorms....yet!

I'm watching the golf now, too.  Jordan Spieth really fell apart yesterday.  He has had a very erratic year compared to last year where he couldn't do anything wrong.  I hope he makes a better showing when the US Open comes up.

I had trouble waking up this morning and have felt 2 steps behind all day today.  Think I'll go shake hands with the recliner.

Phyllis--I like blue and green together, too.  Years ago I had to arm chairs covered with an abstract blue and green fabric.  My couch called me about an hour ago, and I rested for about 45 min.

Joan, Norm would have walked out of Mr Burger, then told the owner about it the next time he was there.  I know if it happens again that we wait (and it would not be an hour), when numbers around ours was called, we'd ask.  This is a place where people go before or after church and is a neighborhood institution.  The man owns seven Mr Burgers around town and it not your typical restaurant; it's a hamburg joint!  Dot and I agreed we didn't have anything else to do, so waited - and talked.  It is our weekly get-together.

We had 80 degrees yesterday and it is 66 now.  We had a big storm around 6 am and radar looks as if it has gone east.

Well, it's only taken me TWO days to figure out how to get access AGAIN to Soda Shop!  All the helpful suggestions from the friends here were most appreciated, but did NOT work for me!!!  Never did figure out what I was doing wrong OR why I'd lost the access to this discussion in the first place, but it's nice to be back.  Sure hope I can continue to join th discussion occasionally.

TOMORROW IS THE BIG DAY!!!   David heads off to a one year assignment in KOREA.  Sure would appreciate positive thoughts and prayers from friends here.  He is traveling alone as the family decided NOT to interrupt their schedules (work and college) to join him.

Mohamed called several times today and we talked about his travel next week from Egypt to the USA.  And such a blessing that local friends here have volunteered to meet him at the airport in the evening.  I'm staying home as that is a difficult time of day for me, but offered to pay them for their time.
They both laughed at me, but said "a Hershey Bar would be fine!"

Hope everyone has enjoyed the weekend!

I decided to take a drive up to the WalMart service center and see if they knew what was wrong.  The one guy that I truly trust was there and he took a look at it and said that the light was for an oil change and they could do it right away.  They checked all the fluids and a few other things and put 3 new windshield wipers on and it was a lot less than I thought and I could use my discount card.  So I'm ready for my trip to my sister's next week.  My old car is hangin' in there!  We're growing old together!

Molly, Chaps will be in my daily prayers while he is in Korea and Mohammed is also in my prayers as he travels.

In fact, you are all in my prayers.  And so is Callie's TV.  I haven't seen a red van yet and I'm sure the stewards will be a problem.  Now they have to be able to fix cars and TVs too.

Had a fantastic day!! I have the sewing room just about ready for when the daughter in love comes up and I did get most of the quilt done, just need to put borders and do the binding.

Thunder rumbled so I hightailed it into the shower, just in case we were in for a bad storm......so far nothing ..but I am squeaky clean  :2funny:

Jane, is this a fire engine red  or a cherry red van? Now the stewards would have to be T,D and H..that is Truthful,Dedicated and Humorous...or whatever you perceive T,D and H to be

Gloria, a day of doing what one loves is a very relaxing day and I did it!!!

Jackie, so glad to hear Benji is coming along ...no fun when our furkids hurt.

Enjoy your evening everyone.

And I am just ready to brush my teeth and go to bed. And the computer erases all the time difference between the two of us. I think that is a real gift. Have a perfect day dear friend, and I will have a good sleep.

Guide Dog

A man was walking through the grounds of a university one morning when he noticed a young blind woman struggling with her Guide-Dog. The animal was resolutely pulling in one direction, she in another.

When he offered assistance, the woman replied, "No thanks, this is a family argument. The dog knows I'm supposed to go to a lecture right now -- but I want to miss it."

Some of the Pharisees asked, “Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?”  Luke 6:2
Let’s picture the scene. Jesus is walking through fields with his disciples on the Sabbath. They’re hungry, so they grab a few heads of wheat, rub them together and enjoy the seeds of nourishment. Some Pharisees nearby see their actions and immediately pass judgment.
Jesus turns to face his accusers. He recounts a story from the Hebrew scrolls that would be familiar to any Jew, especially the “religion police.” David was on the run from a demented King Saul. With his life on the line, he needed safety and food. David found help from Ahimelek the priest, who gave him permission to eat the consecrated bread offered to God and usually to be eaten only by the priests (see 1 Samuel 21:1-6; Leviticus 24:5-9).
The Sabbath was a day to stop working and to focus on God. The Pharisees, over the years, had added rules to the Sabbath that were more about performance and boundaries than reflecting on God’s mercy and grace. The rules became ends in themselves rather than means to an end.
The intent of Sabbath worship, however, was to honor the Lord over all of life and to celebrate and give thanks for his wonderful love and deliverance. In this way Jesus gives us a free pass to celebrate, so let’s take it with gratitude!
How will you worship God today? Is your worship a ritual or an act of gratitude for God’s grace in your life?
Father, you provide for me in countless ways. Increase my thanks, and help me to stop and reflect on your love. Amen.

Thought of the Day

Good morning to all. I've been up an hour fighting with 2 computers (so NOT a computer problem but our internet).  Fitbit tells me I have had less that 2 hours sleep so will likely nap sometime today.  Spent hours before going to bed looking for "something" lost... and never did find it so the brain wouldn't shut down.

Lloyd, I have a grand daughter & another grandson's wife expecting in July & November, so 2 more to the list this year.  No twins, I always hoped for twins as the last of the family so no "baby of the family".

Good morning, Junee.  You can have my bear claws, I prefer just a plain sweet roll with a little sugar icing, bet Joan has some in there someplace.  I am hungry for something but not sure what.

Prayers for all in need and wishing Every Friend a happy day... I'm already wishing for fall.   :crazy2:

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had rain most of yesterday and it cooled things off considerably.  It's only supposed to get to 81 today.  And most of the day will be in the mid to high 70s.  Not so bad for June.

I have absolutely NO plans for today.  Unless it's to catch the doggies and plop them in the tub.  I still haven't managed that little chore.  And they can't go visiting next weekend the way they're beginning to smell.

They're now beginning to mill around in here wishing for breakfast.  I guess I better go feed them pretty soon.  Have a great day Everyfriend.  Do what you feel like doing and enjoy your time.

Good morning, Shirley.  Sorry you lost sleep fighting with those computers.  If you rummage around in the "hidey hole" you may find something you like to eat.

Janie--Good morning.  Today is going to be a scorcher here.  When I checked the temperature at 3:30 a.m. it was already 80°.  Maybe today you can give those sweet doggies a bath.

Good morning everyone.

Cool this morning but just right for me..54 ° and heavy dark clouds . I am off quilting this morning then I have a few things to do in town before I come home.

I did manage to cut both dogs nails yesterday, one is really good and the other one I have to coax and coax but we did get it done!!

Patricia, yes it could be both...might be looking for a needle in a haystack but yes  both would be nice for Jane and Callie .

Joan thank you for breakfast

Better go get all my gear ready.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning, Amy.  I was always afraid to cut our dogs nails for fear I'd make them bleed--so I had to take them to the vet to get it done.  Enjoy your time with the quilting group.

Joan, the Border Collie is the worst one to do...she will settle down after a bit and yes I have nipped them both and I am the one that hurts...doesn't seems to bother them. The Golden once she sees me coming with my glasses on and clippers in hand will lay down ,flat right out and let me do her nails. Of course they both get "special" treats when done.

Amy, so no dog fight then? re, your stubborn dog...My late dear Petra hated having hers done, we always landed up in a floor fight.... ;D I gave up, then it was down to the paid professional nail clipper....

Good Monday afternoon....made out a check list, will tick as they get done.....Booked my hairdressing appointment online, again I had dwindled them down to two,..... have to check out drop offs and parking for R, convenience of area, and if so, walking distance for me....Tomorrow I shall phone and book opticians app, the one I am favouring ( is not open today ) for my eye testing, again dwindled that down to two, both being a long respected concern going back in generations, unlike many of our opticians now....

Just came in from the garden, two helicopters flew over quite low, one being military, I shall watch for them 12 noon tomoroow, see if this is a regular trip....I often hear what sounds like helicopters but, living near the coast that is to be expected if anyone is in trouble in the water....but I usually hear that in the distance....

Well very early this morning BT's OpenReach van pulled up, man knocked at our door, R in the middle of a shave in his underwear, said he had no Idea he was coming...anyway we have had non stop internet trouble since we moved here, more recently pages weren't loading....now we have been given faster Internet, man said we have the maximum that we can have where we live, down in the valleys, we have gone from 2 to 42....down loadings will be a lot faster....

Benji's last medication this evening, then tomorrow morning, can still see some stitch thread drooping from outside his mouth...

Still awaiting my hospital scan appointment, re, my daily bleed....that's of course new Doctor put in referral this time....this will be holding me back, by a good seven weeks.... >:(

Now I am going to play catch-up with posts readings....

Wishing Everyfriends a carefree day....

Good morning!  :sun:

Joan, TS Colin is supposed to come right over you according to the weather report.  Stay safe and dry.  I hope he gives you good rain but no problems.

Sunny (or cloudy?...it's anybody's guess :dontknow:) here today and humid and hot.  Normal for NC in the summer.  I will stay in and hug the AC and do some laundry.

One dog bathed!  I did the hard one first.  Mickie HATES baths with a purple passion!  If she knows it's forthcoming, she tries to hide but she has a vet apt this afternoon and I'm sure they don't want to smell her.

Annie is very docile and I think that's because she got used to the swimming pool at my daughter's house when she was only 2 years old.

I NEVER cut their nails!  I am so afraid of cutting too deeply that I leave that for the vet or the groomer to do.

OK, Annie's turn!

Hi everyone.  We have just had a brief period of rain.  It is going to be a humid day but it is only suppose to get to 77 degrees this afternoon, a nice break from the 90+ degree weather we have had the last few days.  I came into my office this morning only to discover one of my office windows was cracked from side to side.  Apparently someone shot a bb gun or threw a rock with a sling shot at the window as there is a deep but small pit it in that caused the cracking.  These are dual pane windows and it did not impact the inner glass and the glass did not shatter.  It was just a shocking thing to see.  I will have to get someone out to replace the glass.  Life is seldom dull and one never knows what the next day will bring.  I have a light schedule today with attending a noon meeting and Pat will probably go to Aldi's as we are out of fruit and a couple of other things.

Callie, thanks for the info on the jobs that Emily is doing for the baseball games.

Mary Ann, your Mr. Burgers sounds a great deal like the Gary's Hamburgers restaurant I got to have coffee with the guys.  They have a good business and their food is good.  Pat loves their butter biscuits.

Jane, sure happy for you that your car only needed maintenance and not a major problem.

I made a conscious decision this morning not to write a long post as most of what I would say to each one of you has already been mentioned by some tone else.    However, I make no promises about tomorrow.

Yesterday was such a nice day!   Good church service and all 6 of the OTL ladies enjoyed being together at our favorite diner afterwards.    I love long summer twilight times and stayed on the patio until it was dark enough to see the fireflies come out.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Jenny, Good Morning dear friend. My elec. cart is residing in Gary's storage shed. I really need to keep walking as much as possible, so I have a four wheel cart that has a seat, if I need to sit down. And that cart is my good friend that lets me dance with it. It has front wheels that swivel, so I can twist and turn on a dime (almost). And it keeps me balanced, which is what I need. I'm so glad you have a nice deck to enjoy the scenery. You do have a good "honey" as a husband. You are a perfect couple.

Junee, I am sitting here stuffing Kellogs frosted flakes into my mouth. I have an appt. downstairs with a Chiropodist in exactly one hour, and still have to dress in appropriate clothes, but I want to be with you all here as long as possible this morning.

Gotta scoot now. June

Good morning, Callie.  Glad you caught up on your sleep.  It's nice that you and your friends get together for breakfast after church.  In Arkansas, a group of 8 went out on Tues. and Sat. for breakfast.

Just completed form online, requesting a Blue Badge, ( disabled parking badge ) at Rs suggestion...so many questions, its like asking how long is a piece of string....it really will be a 50 - 50 whether I get it or get turned down....
.........................
They are starting on our outside work very soon, R left a message last week and no one came back, left another message, someone came back and said owner is on holiday, then looked at the worksheet and told R, we are next on the list, wasn't quite expecting to hear that, but we were told the work would take place this month....this will be a three day job, taking lower panels off, side brick like panelling, sealing, replacing lower border only, not the sides, then painting with a Parkhome specialist paint, a paint previous owners had used an inferior paint which voided the transfer over of warranty....This will prevent rain, flooding seeping into our home....Man R spoke with is coming tomorrow afternoon to check what's what...
........................
We are also expecting carpet man being sent with a book of samples, this is from the Insurance company, re, our flooding of a few weeks ago, yes these companies sure know how to speed things up...not.... ::)
............................
Been so many helicopters going over today, some I hear but don't see, but i know they are very low, just not looking out the window in the right direction....
Edited, R just told me he saw them, and they are military....wonder where our nearest base is?
...........................

Jane S, I can see your weather thingy, and its working fine.... :)

Good Morning Everyone!

As usual, it seems, running late in doing things.  Been on the phone making yet another doctors appointment for a follow-up, still have my cleaning appointment to make with the dentist.

Had to go down and pick up our cleaning lady and she is busy as can be.

Neighbor boy across the street is suppose to be over to trim up some things for my wife, but he hasn't shown up.   :-\

Joanie, hope the TS brings the rain you need but no damage to you or others, I saw http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/florida-braces-for-flooding-from-tropical-depression-3-storm-colin-atlantic-hurricane/57892834 (http://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/florida-braces-for-flooding-from-tropical-depression-3-storm-colin-atlantic-hurricane/57892834) where you are to get flooding rains.

Vanilla-Jackie--Here, in order to get a disabled parking placard, the form must be filled out by a doctor.

halkel--I know the modules are showing we're to get the storm--but seems it is "iffy" where I am--very close to the east coast of FL.

Chia--I don't have to click on anything to see Janie's (or anyone elses) weather thingy.

Something happens that we don't know about but it seems Chia does.  I clicked on someone's weather thingy and I got all kinds of information about the weather where that person lives.  That doesn't happen when you click on mine.   But the directions that Chia sent me by email don't work.  She said to go to the profile and then scroll to the "signature: and to the right of that there is the address of my weather thingy.  There's no address so the rest of the instructions don't mean anything.  If anyone knows what to do here, please tell me.

My CNA just left. Had a good back massage and back feels good now. Have supper simmering. A small boiled dinner. Since there really was not much  for her to do today she got to my shredding. Filled 2 bags. She had a break and something got done that I kept putting off.

JOAN   yes my son got my meds and groceries Saturday.

CALLIE  of course you will be very careful picking those stewards. They must work and cook great and be easy on the eyes too.

JUNE  that whole quote is “the love of money is the root of all evil”

MOLLY  thoughts and prayers follow Chaps on his trip and the time he is away from home. They go with Mohamed, too.

GLORIA de  like you yesterday was cool but I  have the AC on again.

AMY  we had thunderstorms in the forecast for yesterday afternoon and during the night.  Had rain at times wind driven but no storms.

JANE  I am for cherry red. Don't want people to think there is a fire in the area.

CALLIE  see my message to Jane above, I cast my vote.

JUNEE  wonder if all of us when we were young thought of a T D & H. I sure missed out on that, mine was short dark and pretty good looking.

JOAN  know it is late but I know you still have some bear claws. Love them almost as much as the lemon DD's. Like the chuckles. Would like to give that to the lady here with the guide dog. I just copied Free Pass. Your quote today is so true. If I cannot be nice to others than I don't deserve much.

LLOYD  hope you have better dreams tonight.

JUNEE  bear claws taste better than they look.

SHIRLEY  I am with you. First hot day when I turn the AC on I start longing for the end of September.

JACKIE  slow internet would have me pulling my hair out. When I first started on a computer I had dial up and when I finally got cable I thought I was in heaven.

PHYLLIS  after yesterday's rain I thought it would be dry and cooler today. It is less humid but for me still too hot. Anything over 75° and I am ready for the AC.

LARRY  I have never thought your posts were too long and always interesting.

JANE  I see your temperature and now it is 81° there.

HAL  I have to make my appointments when I know I can get transportation. That is when I really miss having a car to come and go as I liked.

JOAN  when I asked the doctor I used to go to about a parking tag he told me I would need to know a politician and then cross his palm with money. That is how lazy he was. I asked the orthopedic doctor who did my hand surgery, he told me to go online to get the form and fill it out for him to sign. No wonder I found a different doctor.

Joan, I am sure that wont be the end of it, I am sure they will need extra proof, maybe written cofirmation of my MS diagnoses from hospital.....

Gloria, have you tried a Shiatsu massage? I had a couple of those at my old MS Therapy Centre....no Therapy Centre near here, have to travel 30 or 40 miles to my nearest one, seems our nearest closed not too long ago....the Shiatsu works on your whole body, well the ones I had sure felt good....

Halkel, I hope by now neighbour boy has shown up, nothing worse than waiting on someone who lets you down without any explanation....

Jane, your temperature shows 80 degrees on my computer and when I click on it, nothing happens.

When I got my handicap license plate, I went online to see what to do, found a form to fill out and sent it to my doctor.  He signed it and returned it to me and I took it to the SOS office.  They gave me a tag to use until the plate came in the mail, but I use the tag in case I'm with someone who does not have a handicap plate.  I since have sold my car so Tom took my registration to apply for a plate when he got a car.

Looking at radar, I see Colin is going across Florida, but I think the storm is going a bit north of Melbourne, at least you hope so, don't you, Joan?!

This is not the time of year Norm and Dot would be in Florida, but I am sure Colin will hit Sun City Center, south of Tampa.

You'll laugh but my first thought of T, D & H was Tom, Dick and Harry!

Even though I do not have a car or drive anymore a able to get a handicap parking ticket as need a driver at times to get places.  Now to go see G H.

Jackie and Junee, While I didn't have any Tom, Dick or Harry in my younger days, I also did not have any Tall, Dark and/or Handsome either.  I was 33 when the first Tom came into my life (nephew Tom), then Jim's son, Tom, was born a few years after.  Instead of T, D and H, I had T, T and T (Tim, Tom and Terry - Tock)!

Gloria--There are times I wish I had somebody to give me a massage.  So far, I can do the shredding--really don't have much to do.

Vanilla-Jackie--Guess each locale has different rules for getting a handicapped tag.  My pulmonologist filled a form all out and then I had to go to the DMV to get the tag.

Mary Ann--Reports say that the storm is going north of Melbourne--and I am glad about that.

Junee--I know several who don't drive anymore, but have handicapped tags for when someone drives them somewhere.

There is a part in both Weymouth and Dorchester, (both in separate directions...) where it has become pedestrianised...just a walkway with various shops and businesses, so looking for the easiest place for parking is becoming quite a chore...so thank heavens for Google Map, it allows one to travel before you leave home....

Now for the tall dark and handsome, T D or Harry's.....Junee, if you ever come across them, see if they have any twin brothers... ;)

I can still legally drive, just that my confidence in driving has now gone...I also got rid of my second hand car just before moving, our local mobile mechanic who helped me to get it from an elderly couple who could drive no more, managed to sell it on to the owner of the garage he deals with for MOTs...
R plans on buying his next Vauxhall fleet car, we've already chosen the colour, order is already in....R should get a good deal on it being an ex employee....once he has been driving it from new for a few months, then it becomes second hand, and he gets the discounted price...

I married T,D, and H.  Tom was a little over 6 ft. tall, had almost black wavy hair, and in my eyes he was handsome til the day he died.  By then he was 81 yrs, had shrunk to 5' 10", had wrinkles and a little bit of a paunch....but he was still handsome.....to me.

My doctor asked me the last time I saw her if I thought I needed the handicap plate and she would make out the request for me but I told her not quite yet.  I try to park out a little farther in the parking lot and walk to the store with the help of my rollator.  After all, it is about the only exercise I get anymore.  However, the day is coming, I'm pretty sure, and faster than I think.

Gloria, I have been meaning to tell you how very nice your graphic on the Home Page is for this month.  I love the delicate blues and the butterflies.

I just cleaned out the fridge and now I need a cup of tea and a little rest.  That is not one of my favorite jobs.

Phyllis--Ray was T, Sandy haired and H to me--even the last few years when he was so sick.  I just can't walk far at all without being breathless--that's why I have the handicapped tab.

Jeanne Lee--Nice of you to fix that for Janie.

"'Many years ago, I married a widow out of love who had an 18-year-old daughter. After the wedding, my father came to visit a number of times, and suddenly he fell in love with my step-daughter. My father eventually married her without my authorization.
As a result, my step-daughter legally became my step-mother and my father my son-in-law. My father's wife (also my step-daughter) and my step-mother, gave birth to a son who is my grandchild because I am the husband of my step-daughter's wife. This boy is also my brother, as the son of my father.

All at once, my wife became a grandmother, because she is the mother of my father's wife. Therefore, it appears that I am also my wife's grandchild. A short time after these events, my wife gave birth to a son, who became my father's brother-in-law, the step-son of my father's wife, and my uncle. My son is also my step-mother's brother, and through my step-mother, my wife has become a grandmother and I have become my own grandfather.

In light of the above mentioned, I would like to know the following: Does my son, who is also my uncle, my father's son-in-law, and my step-mother's brother fulfill the requirements for receiving childcare benefits?

                                                                                   Sincerely yours,

                                                                                   Charles Wright''

Thanks Jeanne for fixing something that I didn't know wasn't right.  I don't think I ever knew that you could click on those things until Chia mentioned it.

I guess I'll go click on it and see what it says!

It looks perfect to me!  Have you also found the guys?  Can you fix just about anything?

I think I slept half the day away after I had my feet taken care of. Did wake in time for a big lunch of vegetables and salmon and conversation. Then on to see the second half of Fiddler on the Roof...too sad, but still they went forward. Then home to read the messages, finish up my primary ballot, take it downstairs, and now I am tired and ready for bed. Tomorrow I'll take my ballot downstairs. Even though it is a mail=in I have the option of taking it to our polling place downstairs. Nice.

I pray you all have a peaceful night and a happy tomorrow. Hugs, Love and prayers. June

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

We had a nice morning sitting out on the deck, enjoying all the beautiful flowers...then we went to the grand's home to be with them while mama went to another doctors appointment.  A big storm came in and before we could get home the rain, thunder and lightening started. Afternoon storms here in Colorado pretty much always include HAIL!  We got in the garage as quickly as possible, but it was bad.. Have not looked, but sure hope we have no damage to the car.  The beautiful flowers are just totally ruined....beat them so badly.  I am feeling very sad.

Tomorrow is the day the bus leaves from our area to go to Black Hawk, the gambling area here.  My neighbor and I enjoy going on it, and always have a good time. We always have a nice lunch at one of the buffets.  We f course I will have to put a few sheckles in the one arm bandit!

LARRY, I am sorry for the sea age to your office window.... I just do not understand how or why anyone has to be so m an to destroy someone else's property.

it is a sombering day knowing that it has been 72 years since D Day.  Sadly, it was not even talked about that much on the National News.  They sure gave enough coverage to the passing of a draft dodger though.

On that note I had best bid you all a good night, and sleep tight.

Jenny

CHUCKLES

Freshman Dance

A rather awkward freshman finally got up the nerve to ask a pretty junior for a dance at the homecoming. She gave him the once-over and said, "Sorry, I won't dance with a child."

"Please forgive me," responded the underclassman. "I didn't realize you were pregnant."

Food For Thought

The Twelve String
(By Dion Todd)

When I ran my fingers across the strings, I knew instantly that this was the most beautiful sounding thing that I had ever picked up and that I had to have one. It was a twelve string acoustic guitar, a deep red sun-burst, and it was in perfect tune. I am not much of a guitar player, but even strumming it with your fingers sounded wonderful and full. It was as pretty as the sounds that it made and it was difficult to make it sound bad, at first.

Later as it got played and went through temperature changes, it became out of tune, and what a change that was. Now when you strummed, it reminded you of cats fighting and no one could make it sound good. Everything that had previously been right with it, was now horribly wrong. After spending some painful time tuning it back up, it sounded wonderful and full once again. Anyone that has tuned a twelve string guitar knows what I am talking about. It just needed to be kept in tune to sound good.

So it is with our lives. When in tune with the Lord's plan for us, life is beautiful, full and we are a joy to be around. But after being played for a while by others, we can become flat, sharp, or a bit of both. We begin to make irritating noises that no one likes.

No matter how out of tune you are, the Lord can fix you. He can restore what is missing. He can make the bad and the sad into the great and the joyful. The way back is to get in tune with the Lord again by getting somewhere quiet and talking to Him like a friend. It is the Lord Jesus that beautifully tunes us, polishes us, and cares for us. With Him, we can become something beautiful.

Prayer: Father, lead me into all that You have in store for me. May Your perfect will be done in my life. You told us that Your sheep hear Your voice and another they will not follow. Teach me to recognize when You are speaking to me. Keep me in tune with You Lord, in the name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Good morning everyone.

Busy day here, I am off to the city to meet up with a friend, then to a dental appointment then home to get supper ready for us and daughter in love should be here around 3-4 pm.

We had a good day at quilting yesterday but we found out one of our long time members is moving away. I did get to finish my quilt top, and now onto another one.

Tis looking like rain here and we could use some too. Garden is coming along and so are the darn weeds again. We get another load of wood today too and that will get piled all in good time.

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Take care everyone and enjoy your day to the fullest. :smitten:

Good Morning Everyfriend!  We had some lovely gentle rain overnight and it's still a little wet but not raining now.  It's 63 and cloudy and it's supposed to stay cloudy most of the day and then some rain again in the late afternoon.  The strawberries are ready to be picked and I'm trying to figure out when I can go get some.  They are so good when you pick them and come home and clean them and eat them!

I don't go to work until 10 today but I have to go to the post office and make a copy and then mail a form in to the government before I go.  I use to be able to make copies here but the printer that also made copies seems to have died.  I've tried everything I can think of to make it work but it just groans, shakes and gives me an error message.  The printer part died several years ago and I kept it in the back for copies.  Now it's worthless.  I guess it will go to the next tech recycling.

I hope Everyfriend has a great day full of the love of family and friends and with all the things you love to do!

Good morning, Amy.  You are one busy woman.  Enjoy your day.

Janie--Good morning.  We got lots of wind and it rained for about 15 min.  There's nothing as good as just picked strawberries.  Our strawberry season is long past for this year.  I have an old printer in the garage that won't print, but it still copies.  Too bad you don't live closer.  You could have it.  Hope all your customers are smiling today.

Good Morning all. I woke sometime after two A.M. and could not return to sleep, so remembered a lot of you have wakeful nights, so decided to come in and join the night owls. Today is primary voting day for us, so I plan to go down early and give them my mail-in ballot. Then on to a meeting of the Community Members Association. This afternoon I will attend the Balance and Mobility program, and after that I will go watch the shuffleboard tournament. Unless my lack of sleep catches up to me then I will cancel all the fun and games and go nap.

I was talking to a friend yesterday about the Presidential election, and said I didn't know what to do as neither candidate appeals to me. She said which one of the two do you really, really, do not want to be President, and I told her, and she said, "then vote for the other one". I think that makes sense, better than not voting at all.

Amy, do you ever take a day off and just do nothing ? We always have to cook and make beds, etc., but you are a really hard worker. In my dotage I am a real loafer.

Janie, do you get a discount when you pick the berries yourself. We kids did that one summer...picked for a farmer, and I think he gave us a nickel for each basket we picked. I ate as many as I put in the basket, and got bored with the job very early in the game.

Jenny, I wish you good luck at Blackhawk.

Lloyd, Be careful around that machinery today, that brain still needs to be protected. Your wife must say a prayer everytime you walk out the door. If you didn't have bad luck working with machinery, you wouldn't have any luck at all.

Oh, Jenny, I just read your post of yesterday and I think you and I are so alike.  I looked at the calendar and realized it was D-Day and couldn't remember a single mention of it on the news.  As for the other......isn't it strange how time dims events?  I told my son that I am an "old broad" who is cursed with a long memory.  And, I remember the person who is now being eulogized everywhere was not thought of so highly back in a time when our country was calling up our young men and he refused to go.

I thought you might get more rain than you did, Joan.  Sorry it wasn't more because your area needs it.  Light showers off and on here and heavier rains out on the coast.  The sun is trying to peek through and "they" are promising that we will have lower humidity for the next couple of days.  That will be nice.

I am in the same quandary as you, June, about the political scene.  But, in spite of it all, I still consider voting to be not only my right but, my privilege.  So when Nov. comes I will "bite my tongue", "grit my teeth" and vote for the one I hope will cause the least damage to our wonderful country.  And that is as close as I will come to discussing politics in the Soda Shoppe, Joan.  I promise. :winkie:

Good morning everyone, once again I got into an old movie last night. Flight of the Phoenix with Jimmy Stewart. A plane that crashed in a desert.  Read once that it was filmed   at the sand dunes in Yuma Arizona. Went through Yuma and saw those dunes the year  went from San Diego into Arizona. Today is my daughter's 42nd anniversary.

JACKIE  never tried Shiatsu massage. Even if I knew where it was done here I doubt I cold afford it. Then there would be a transportation problem.

MARY ANN only Toms in my life are 2 nephews. Never knew any other Toms.

JOAN  there was not my CNA to do so she suggested she do the shredding. Filled 2 bags and still more to do. I used to keep up with it but  have let it pile up. I only had to mail the form for the tag into the DMV and they mailed it to me. Just heard weather forecast. Today and tomorrow in the afternoon chance of violent thunder storms and maybe some hail. The guesser said  “Hail here and in June? Unheard of.”

JACKIE  I still have my license but nothing to drive. When oldest son got his new car he wanted me to drive it but it is a standard shift that I had not used in many years.

PHYLLIS  I had not checked the home page till you said something. Thank you.  Must have done that awhile ago as I didn't remember it. Like you I love blue.

JEANNE LEE  never thought of clicking on the weather thing to see more information. Will have to see what mine says. Nothing happens when I just tried that.

JOAN  I can breathe OK it is the walking even with my rollator I cannot walk too far before I have to sit down.

JEANNE  well that vehicle is the right color. Imagine driving a car like that now? No AC or power steering and brakes. Just look at that narrow windshield.

JANE  I never thought of clinking on that till you mentioned it and I thought the only thing it did was tell what your temperature is. Mine doesn't work either.

JEANNE LEE  can you fix my weather thing too? Please? Would be  nice to see how different it is to what the weather guessers here say.

JENNY  hope this time you bring some  winnings home with you from Black Hawk.

JOAN  a plain bagel lightly toasted with cream cheese will be so good this morning. Food for Thought is so true for those who stray. Your quote is so true.

AMY  years ago I knew this elderly lady who had a big garden that really produced a lot. It looked terrible though. She had newspapers spread all over the ground. I asked her why. She asked me - “do you see any weeds?” Not a weed to be seen, the papers kept them from coming up.

JANE  pretty soon the strawberries at the farm I like will be ready. Will have to ask my son to get some for me. They are always so good.

LLOYD  good news from the  cat scan now just take it careful and no more falls.

JUNE  I sure know who I will not vote for and like you I do not trust either one of them.

PHYLLIS  like you and others  feel, all of a sudden when someone dies he is idolized. Forget about him being a draft dodger.

Good morning, Lloyd.  Please be very careful when you're working with on your machinery.

June--Good morning.  You sure have a busy day planned.  I vote by absentee ballot--easiest way for me.

Good morning, Phyllis.  I saw a few posts on Facebook about D-Day--but nothing on the national news I watched.  It rained about another half an hour earlier this morning and weatherguessers say that's all we'll get from this TS.

Gloria--Good morning.  That's good that when your CNA is idle you can find things for her to do for you.  I never clicked on the weather thingies either. :)

Good morning, Sandy.  Nice that you have a happy day with good news.

Hi everyone on a beautiful 77 degree morning headed for 90 this afternoon.  The rain is finally over with zero chance of more rain for a couple of days at least (unless the forecast changes). I have two things on my agenda for today.  First I will call the Auto Club and get someone here to help get my car started so I can take it to Advance Auto and get a new battery.  The other major thing is to line up two or three estimates on my broken glass in my front porch window.  I have already taken care of the normal morning chores like emptying the dish washer and watering the flowers.

I mentioned the delicious lemon pie Pat fixed a couple of days ago.  Last evening we were going to finish our evening meal with the last two pieces of pie so I went to the refrigerator, picked up the pie plate, over which Pat had placed the microwave cover and as I took it off the shelf the cover slipped and the pie slid out of the dish mostly on the bottom ledge of the refrigerator but a little bit on the floor.  Well I wasn't going to waste the last two pieces so I got a dish and scooped the majority of the pie into a bowl and then we set about cleaning the refrigerator and floor where the pie had spilled.  I felt silly but it was purely an accident.  I should have used two hands but had taken it out of the refrigerator the day before without incident.  It is a wonder the glass pie dish didn't break but it was fine so no real damage done.

Update on my car not starting, The tow truck company man was here and it wasn't the battery but the starter had apparently seized up.  So I will take it in to the garage to have it checked over as don't want to get stranded with it.  I am going ahead and post for today as will wait for the car to be checked.

Everyone is talking about DDay. Here is a quote from Abraham Lincoln's Gettysburg Address.

I think each generation had or has it's DDay.

Good Morning Everyone!

Really nice morning out.  Our neighbor boy is out back cutting away.  He is a fine young man and polite and a hard worker.  He leaves tomorrow to spend the summer with his Grandfather up in the Dallas area.

Also have the rug cleaners coming in to clean all the carpets and repair one spot in a doorway where the run has pulled out of the threshold.  Not a hard job, but I cant get up and down to do it.  But what they will charge will be like a major project.  Told my wife "any" rug repair is a 100 dollar minimum.  Some more of our golden years benefits.  Oh, well, now I know why I fussed about saving money, so I could spend it on "fun" things in my golden years.

I have to go warm my coffee up, anyone want a warm-up?

Larry--Good morning.  Oops, on the pie dish slipping out of your grip.  Hopefully the repair for your vehicle won't be too costly.

Good morning, angelface.  Farrah certainly is making progress.

halkel--Good morning.  Owning a house can sure be costly.  I'll have another cup of coffee, please.

Flood Insurance carpet man is coming Sunday of all days, with his sample book, just as well we dont have a life, such as go to family for dinner, etc etc....It is only Tuesday, we have three more working days still available, why doesn't he come on one of them?... ::)
..........................................
Well today for once R has been on the receiving end, usually it is me who has all the bad luck.....On the way back from hairdressers we stopped off at chemist to pick up both R's and my prescription drugs....only mine were there but R's weren't.....The reason it seems was that R asked for two months supply which unknown to him got turned down, so instead of him picking up one months supply of five different medication drugs, the order was cancelled by our local Doctor...If she isn't content with not putting forward my hospital bleed referral, she has to cancel R's medication....even I only picked up one months supply of BP med's, my old surgery would give me three months supply, same as with R, so he is not a happy bunny.....But he is now on his way a few hours later after we popped across the road to our surgery where receptionist told R they will now put his request through as automated, so hopefully when he now returns, they will be there ready and waiting at the chemist....The irony of it all is that R is now completely out of one or two of his med's, including his eye drops....

Edited, R just came back, got all his med's, I stand corrected it didn't include eye drops...he already had those..

I went back to bed, read for a while then slept for two more hours. A man is on a tall ladder, cleaning pine needles out of the guttering. They really keep this place tidy. Had a big oatmeal cookie for breakfast, yum-yum. have one more left, but one filled me up. Just poured my second cuppa' cawfee. Then I will dress and take my ballot down stairs, hoping it is not too crowded, if so, I will wait till later. I have all day.

June--So now you got more sleep, had your breakfast and can go turn in your ballot.

Jackie.  I really like that hair style on you. Did a good job. Will be so easy to take care of. Makes a good Avatar. My hair was always long and decided to go short 2 years ago. Now drives me crazy if touches my neck at the back so I go every 3 to 4 weeks. Would like your style but mine is to wavy and would have to use a hair dryer to get it straight.

Jeanne P, that is one of my problems, my hair is curly at the back....of course I don't bother using anything on my hair apart from shampoo and conditioner, he used a round brush and hair-dryer, I usually let my hair dry naturally..... My number one hairdresser requirement is that I get a good expert cut.....I will feel much better now the hair is out of my eyes, nothing worse that when its windy, trying to walk with your hair flapping into your eyes, especially with my illness when I walk and get dizzy and, or I cant see the ground because its too uneven...
If and when I go too short, my hair looks a lot darker...as it is now at the back of my neck at the roots....

June, I think it was you who asked if there is a discount for picking the strawberries myself.  There is.  If I pick them, I pay $1.40 a pound and if they pick them I pay $4.25 a pound.  And if I pick them, I get to eat while I pick.  They use no chemicals on their fields and their motto is "On for the basket and two for you".  They actually encourage eating as you pick.

My day was pretty good.  I started out beside one of my favorite cashiers and I ended up beside her.  It makes the day go faster when you share it with a friend.

Had lunch, fed the puppies their snack and visited with my friends here and now I think a nap is in order.  I shall return!  (As General MacArthur promised)

We spent a bit of time today cleaning up after the hail and wind storm that hit DD's house as well.  Here, the ravine in back was totally full and water was running so fast it looked dangerous.  So - why did some parents drop their pre-teens off to "look" at the overflow area?  I had my cell phone right in hand and ready to dial or something - that looks tempting to kids and it would have been a disaster.

Otherwise, it is a lovely and normal Colorado day with blue sky and white clouds.  I still like to walk in the light rain on gray days - the air is so refreshing.

Jane, that is a very good discount when you pick the berries yourself. And it helps them in have the ripe ones out of the way to make space for the green ones coming in. Is your foot holding up O.K. from the surgery ? It would get a lot of stress standing at the register for hours.

Chia, I don't have a weather thingy. Wouldn't know how to install one if I did have the object.

Carol, I agree about walking in the rain. Have always loved doing it. The air has a different scent to it during and after a rain.

I voted, then went to a program at 10 a.m. went to an exercise program, then on to lunch, back downstairs again at 2:45 for our Balance and Mobility class, stayed to watch the progress of a shuffleboard tournament, then home to read and relax and doze off. Still sleepy, so I did an early change into my p.j.'s. Will have a light supper at home and then call it a day. A busy day coming up tomorrow.

JEANNE  thank you. Never knew there was so much information in there. Better than the local YV weather reports.

JOAN  all the local channels early today said we would have thunderstorms between 4 and 6 m. Well the sun was shining the whole time. Same forecast for tomorrow. My CNA is never idle, she always finds something to do. Not like some of them. One would massage my back and then sit and be ready to talk for the rest of the time here. No way, I would find something for her to do. They do not get paid to just sit here.

JACKIE  new avatar, looks like you made it to the beauty parlor. Looks great.

LARRY  glad you salvaged part of the lemon meringue pie. One year I made a blueberry pie for Thanksgiving dinner at my in laws. My MIL put it on top of her fridge and I never thought anything more about it. A few months later she moved the fridge away from the wall to clean back there. That is where the pie ended up. Must have slid back when the fridge door was shut. Now that was a real mess to clean up.

PATRICIA  glad Farrah is getting more used to her new home.

HAL  hope all the years my daughter has been a penny pincher will pay off now as they start their retirement.

JANE  when I was able to go to the farm and pick my own strawberries  then the blueberries I think I ate as much as I paid for.  Just like at my son's orchard people always eat an apple or more before the check out and pay for what they picked.

CHIA  glad you did snoop on the weather thing. I found out something new from it.

CAROL I used to like walking in the rain. Walking when it snowing I liked even more. I still like being out on the porch when it is snowing. Every thing sounds so hushed and the air smells wonderful.

JUNE  looked like you had another busy day. Sleep well.

Good night and sleep good and wake refreshed.

Good evening, EVERYFRIEND.

MY bus trip to Black Hawk was very nice.....we chat so much the hour drive is over before we know it.  I did pretty well, and actually came home with a bit more money than I went with.  We enjoyed our buffet lunch and had a very nice day.

It clouded up and rained more this afternoon.  The hail started, but was small in size and ended quickly.  I was in tears when I went out this morning and saw how the hail had just stripped most of the plants.

OH, LARRY, so sad to hear that the pie was accidentally dropped when trying to get it out of the fridge.. Glad the plate did not break and you were able to save some to enjoy. Also sorry to read that your car problem is the starter.

CAROL, I was shocked to see the amount of water that was rushing down the gutters and from in between out homes, so can imagine the river behind you.  Glad it didn't cause as much problems tonight.  I keep forgetting you two are in town.

JACKIE, your new DO looks very nice and I know you will enjoy having it a bit shorter.

I am ready to call it a day...pleasant dreams to all.

Jenny

Larry, I am picturing your pie mess & can't help but be reminded of the funniest sight I've ever seen.  My sister had everyone to her house shortly after we got back from England... about 20 miles from where our parents live & the rest of us.  She always was a great cook & that day we were talking a mile a minute as I helped her carry food to put on the big dining room table. Everyone was already seated when we took that last in, she was carrying a huge lemon jello mold of shredded carrots, looked like she had made it in a big angel food cake pan.  We were just going into the dining room, nobody could see us with the door closed (one of those big old houses with a door to every room)... and the jello slid off the platter & stayed upright on the floor & just wiggled at us.  We looked at each other & giggled.. we knew Dad would be horrified if he knew what happened ... but we slid the plate under it & I told her that "her floors were clean enough to eat off of"... and we had a hard time not bursting into laughter every time someone praised that jello.  I doubt she would have served it if not for her crazy sister... but it is a memory that never fails to make me laugh.

Gosh, Jenny & Carol, I forget that you also get hail.  We haven't had any big enough to harm the flowers this year... SO FAR.  Congratulations on the win today, Jenny... what do you play?

It's midnight & I've got to get some sleep tonight.  God Bless & sweet dreams.  Shirley

CHUCKLES

The Verdict

The District Attorney stared at the jury, unable to believe its verdict.

Bitterly he asked, "What possible excuse could you have for acquitting this man?"

The foreman answered, "Insanity."

The D.A. said, "All twelve of you?"

Food For Thought

A Reminder to Be Mindful of God
(By Rev. Kerry S. Doyal)

You never know when or where God will remind you of an important truth. A recent chance encounter at a hotel continental breakfast bar reminded me of God's passion to teach us. It reminded me of the need to be mindful of Him.

Our family was traveling back to Kingsport recently when my son and I met a kind retiree from Oklahoma. Coincidentally, she too who was on her way to Kingsport, to visit a daughter and family.

By the way, it is said that a "coincidence" is when God chooses to work anonymously. Lucky for us - yes, that was a joke - He does this often.

Having noticed that she looked Hispanic or Native American and that she had on a shirt saying "Mexico," I asked if she was Mexican or Cherokee. She was in fact first generation Mexican American and she then relayed an interesting life development.

Our new friend told how she used to think in Spanish as well as she could in English. But, in the past few years, she has noticed that skill slipping. At a recent reception, she was able to speak to someone in Spanish. Yet, much to her chagrin, she got stuck in efforts to communicate.

Having no one to speak Spanish to on a regular basis has made it harder to think in Spanish as easily as she used to. What used to be natural to her now takes effort due to lack of practice, less use.

Hmmm... With a long drive ahead and being a person prone to parabolize, apt to allegorize, this got me to thinking about my thinking. (I will not be offended if you need to re read that sentence.) How fluent do I stay in thinking about God, His word, His truths, His will and ways?

Can I, with Willie Nelson, sing to my sweet Lord, "You were always on my mind?" Being on the road again, I could not outlaw that line of thinking.

How consistently do I meditate on Him, His word, mulling Him over? How well do I think biblically? Have my skills and habits of thinking in God's language - the Bible - stayed strong or have they slipped?

A lack of use of our language of re-birth can lead to one dimensional living and thinking - a life that is too earthy (see Psalm 1).

To my new friend, I say "mucho gusto, mucho gracias mi amiga y Dios Te bendaga." "Good to meet you, thank you very much my friend and God bless you!" I hope you are duly impressed, that is half of my Spanish. And, yes, I had it double checked!

To my Lord, who has provided cleaner, clearer thoughts for us to think, I say thank you for the reminder. Feel free to keep me mindful to keep you in mind.

"Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honor and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God." Colossians 3:1-3 (NLT)

"And now, dear brothers and sisters, let me say one more thing as I close this letter. Fix your thoughts on what is true and honorable and right. Think about things that are pure and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

"This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Joshua 1:8 (NKJV)

Good Wednesday morning Joan and Lloyd Hammond, , we have a dry, grey start to our day......
...............................
R took phone call from plumber, says our wooden bath panel is now in stock and ready to be fitted, but R says if he phones again while he is out with dogs, I need to tell him whether I want him to go ahead fitting it before or after Insurance guy has fitted our carpet, I know this Insurance thing is going to be taking quite some time......I am thinking wait, as under the bath where carpet was before there are carpet tacks, and tiny bits of leftover carpet clinging around them, ( best to leave that job to the experts, ) so I think the carpet is best to go inside rather than outside the new fitted bath panel....
...............................
Still no sign of garden furniture, the two armchairs on order, I phoned them end of last week to be told.." you want the seating in the blue " I told them " yes " think hubby and wife duo, so now this has to be placed on order, says sometime this week..................
...............................
Our outside of home builder - decorating work starts tomorrow, should be a three day job......
............................
Still haven't booked my opticians appointment, drove right past it when coming home from the hairdressers yesterday, just no place for stopping.....Maybe silly to book an appointment, until after outside work has been done, yet still awaiting letter to drop through my door, re hospital scan.....
............................
Another couple of Items ordered on my to-do list......an office swivel chair, quite pricey from a company called Boss......for the last couple of months I have been sitting on my bedroom stall at the computer....but it is going to take three weeks to arrive.....and just this minute placed an order for a long hall carpet runner......When we moved in I had to place what I intended to put in the kitchen, a couple of Hug Rug mats along the hall, but instead because the hallway is flooring, the dogs were finding it hard to walk on, kept slipping.....so a nice long runner should fit the bill, of course the one I have chosen is not a cheap one.......or not as cheap as R would have liked.... :crazy2:
Ha ha, still not got round to the ceiling lights....
............................
Still no sign of Sun, I really hope she is ok.....

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was a fantastic day, I did accomplish all that I set out to do in the city with my last stop at the dentist. I scurried on home to get supper ready for when dil came. After supper we cut out all the fabric for her quilt and now she just has to sew it together.

Today will be a sewing day after we get back from having out morning tea out. Plus I am going to take her to the sale of 75% off..not sure what fabric they have left but maybe something that we can't live without :)

In a bit of a hurry this morning..

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone..

Good morning, Lloyd.  It's going to be hot and humid here again today.

Amy--Good morning.  You and daughter-in-love sure do get things done.  Surely you'll find some fabric you can't live without.

I have some errands to do this morning.  I am going early so I can get back before the hotter part of the day.

Good Morning Everyfriend! It's raining here today and supposed to rain all day.  The weather thingy on my phone says it's only 55º and heading for a high of 64.  Not a beautiful Spring day in central PA.

My plan for this morning was to go to the Farmers Market and I think I'll stick to that.  I'll just have to wear my raincoat.  I want some good tomatoes.

I hope you all have the kind of day you want!  Enjoy it!

Good morning everyone, beautiful sunny start to the day. Have thunderstorms in the forecast for later this afternoon. Just like yesterday. Some parts of the state got them but not here. Will be cooler for a few days, no need for the AC.

JENNY  glad you went home with a profit yesterday and had a good time, too.

SHIRLEY  I chuckled picturing that jello molded salad jiggling on the floor.

JOAN  an Egg McMuffin will taste so good this morning.  Thank you for today's goodies.

LLOYD  supposed to be cooler here today and I will like that.

AMY  enjoy the day with your DIL and that fabric sale.

JOAN  hope you have success with your errands and getting home before the heat of the day sets in.

JANE  went sown into the 50's here last night, I like that. No rain here till possible late afternoon

Glad I woke early. The landscapers are here with their lawn mowers. Yesterday they were cleaning the carpeting in the hallway and glad I was awake when they started.

Good morning, Janie.  There's nothing like a tomato picked off the vine, rinsed and eaten in your hand like an apple.  Yummy!!

Gloria--Good morning.  It'll be hot and humid when I go out, but not as bad as if I waited until later in the day.  Ground crews are already out here, too, mowing and trimming.

Hi everyone on another bright, sunny 68 degree morning.  We are suppose to get to 88 degrees this afternoon.  After they checked my car over at the garage they decided it wasn't the started but the ignition module on the steering wheel that had failed.  So I had to leave it overnight for the repairs and there will be a hefty bill when I pick it up later today.  We stopped at Aldi's for groceries on our way back home so that is done for another week. I am going to take it pretty easy today and have already done my morning chores.  We will be spending time with Scott this afternoon and early evening and may go out to eat but will make that decision this afternoon.

Hal, you are fortunate to find a young lad willing to do that type of work and do a good job.  Too bad he will be gone all summer.

Joan, the repair will be costly but insignificant in terms of thinking of the cost of a different car.  I think when this car is no longer worth fixing we will just go back to having one car.  We are now at the point where there is usually only one day a week where having two cars is useful and that can be worked out.

Jackie, not good when a doctor cancels a prescription of something that is very important and doesn't let the patient know.  Glad the situation was resolved quickly.  It sounds like you are on top of all the repairs and in a short while things should be back in tip-top shape.

JaneS, I have been able to get fresh picked strawberries this year for $13 per gallon rather than by the pound.  However, I think our strawberry season is probably over.

Chia, thanks for the alert about my weather widget.  I see it but had never clicked on it for more information.  I have made myself a note on my "to-do" list and will look into the problem.

Gloria, I have a friend who told me his daughter and family have a rule that anything on the floor for less than 15 seconds isn't spoiled.  Our housekeeper was just here on Friday and the location that little bit of crust hi was no one where we would be walking.  We had no ill effects.  It was too good and too much work for Pat to throw any of it out.  I can't image what a mess your MIL had to deal with involving blueberries as they stain very easily.

Jenny, glad you had a good outing and came home a winner.

Shirley, not too long ago I was watching one of the cooking shows, I think it was Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, and something like that happened and she just picked it up and went right on with what she was doing.  Sometimes what we don't know won't hurt us.   That was a funny story about the lime jello salad.

Joan, your Chuckle for today reminds me of how I felt when the O.J. Simpson verdict was read in his murder trial.  I saw on the new that he is up for parole consideration shortly on his current jail sentence.

We had a similar occurrence at my grandson, Kyle's birthday party the year he was 12.  We usually have informal suppers at their house in the family room especially when a fire in the fireplace is nice.  That's where we were for Kyle's birthday supper.  My daughter and SIL took the dishes upstairs and came down with the birthday cake.  My SIL was carrying it with lighted candles and he flipped off the lights as he came in the room.  We all started to sing and then laugh because we thought he was up to his usual antics.  He wasn't he actually tripped over something and was trying to save the cake.  He didn't save it!  It ended up on the floor right in front of Kyle.  He just looked up and said "You didn't have to throw it at me, Dad!"  Pandemonium broke loose.  Everyone was laughing and my daughter was trying to keep the dogs from the cake.  She took a spatula and cut all but the bottom of the cake off the floor and we ate it anyway.

Every time Kyle's birthday rolls around someone will say "Don't let Craig carry the cake!"

It sounds like the rain has slowed a bit.  Maybe it will stay that way until after 11 when I go to the Farmers Market.    One can hope!

Good morning, Larry.  It's too bad you are going to have a hefty bill for your car repair, but as you say, it's cheaper than buying another vehicle.  It's nice that you can spend considerable time with Scott now that you live so close to one another.

Janie--Funny story about Kyle's birthday cake, but at the time I'd bet it wasn't quite so funny.

Not such a great morning for me.  I have started having a CNA on Wednesday morning to help with things that are difficult for me.  This morning we went out for a few things and she drove my car.  When backing out of my driveway, there was the SUV belonging to the lady from Home Instead who helps out my across the street neighbor.  My CNA backed right into it putting a BIG dent in the lower passenger side door panel.  My car has big scratches that will have to be buffed out or ?   Of course, this will all be charged against my insurance.

Larry Hanna, R tells me another Doctors name is written on his repeat prescription, possible there is a sister branch.....so maybe someone else writes out the prescriptions....all the same myself and R are not too impressed....
Larry, there is a lot of expense that we werent bargaining on......the bathroom flood, the outside building work, Benjis teeth vet bill.....so much for budgeting....I always use my late fathers term of, " expect the unexpected...."

Joan, wont her Insurance cover your costs? surely she must have insurance that covers her to drive other peoples car....

Good Morning Everyone!

What a nice way to start the day with all the stories of food mishaps at family gatherings.  That is truly how memories are made that last a lifetime and beyond.

Larry, Zack did a good job, my wife wasn't to happy because she had to tell him to do several tings, but like I told her he is a teenager and never really had a yard to care for.  But once told he gets after it and cleans up his mess and puts things away.
I wish he was going to be here all summer.  Oh, and as he was leaving he thanked me for having a job for him.

Joanie, I had to smile watching the news about your "storm" and the news description and yours.  But I can understand since TS are pretty localized.  Even though by news accounts the world is coming to an end all over.

Well today ought to be quite, everything happened yesterday, carpets, yard and I even, finally, got a call from my urologist. Looking at my car/workshop area yesterday I wish Zake was here so I could get him, with my direction, clean and put stuff up for me.  I have some tools, somewhere, that I need and can find the way it is junked up and my wife nor I can really move things around.  To much lifting and getting up/around/under things.  I need a shop like Lloyds.

Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning,

Handyman and Helper are here doing some small jobs.   Two of them are to put bars in my shower and tub and one is to replace caulking along the back of my kitchen counters on the cabinet where the sink is.   Harve has helped me several times and is very good about noticing something that needs done - and doing it.

More exciting Granddaughter news.    Miss Emily, of softball tv fame,  has officially been accepted into the Doctor of Chiropractic  program at Cleveland College in Overland Park, KS  (K.C area).  She will begin her studies there in the Fall of 2017.  I was so impressed with what she posted on Facebook about this that I want to share her words with you:
I struggled for awhile to find a career path that I felt guided towards and committed to but this past year I have realized that chiropractic is something I am passionate about. Thanks to support and patience from my friends and family, as well as a little push from my fantastic mentor, I have found a profession that will challenge me but I can enjoy and will allow me to serve others. I'm so excited for this opportunity and can't wait to see where God's path takes me!
:smitten:

Off I go to continue helping the handyman by Staying Out Of The Way

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere a lovely day.

Vanilla-Jackie--Yes she has insurance.  But the way it works here is that anyone driving my vehicles(s) is covered by my insurance.  Another unexpected expense--doubt the damages will exceed my deductible.

halkel--Guess only if you are right on the spot can the weather report be accurate.

Callie--GREAT that you are getting bars in your tub and shower.  It sure is nice you have handymen available.  How exciting that Miss Emily has chosen her career path--an admirable profession.

Bis, sorry to hear about your car and the other one. That is not a pleasant start for your day. Darn.

Callie. I was thrilled to read Callies' note about her plans and how she has such a natural faith in God's guidance. She will make the world a better place to live in. Bless her God.

It is going on 9:30 and I need to get downstairs by 10 to hear my Gary give us a lesson on the book of Daniel...so off I go.

I am sure she will, just not in my lifetime......but she ( Miss Emily ) couldn't have picked a worthier occupation - career path........

Good morning from another rainy day in the Interior with no change expected this month. We are down from 60 to 20 fires so that is good with the rain. Unfortunately, one of the fires had terrible injuries and a fatality.

" Authorities have identified a woman who died in a fire at a remote Alaska fishing lodge as a 59-year-old Indonesian national.

Three other foreign nationals were injured in the blaze Thursday at the lodge at Uyak Bay on Alaska's Kodiak Island.

Troopers identified the woman who died as Silvana Sutanto. The injured are identified as Indonesian nationals, 30-year-old Shaun Gozali and 22-year-old Danielle Gozali, and 33-year-old Taeri Kim, a South Korean national."  The injured were her children. I am always surprised to have fires with rain, these were apparently either holdovers from last year or lightening strikes.

Farrah is doing well and exploring everything. She really enjoys her head and behind the ears scratched and her back and sides getting a good scratch and rub down. She is quite a jumper and I will have to watch for that and keep items put away.

She goes where she wants, no longer, seemingly afraid of being caught or locked in and she still doesn't make any meows or cat sounds you'd expect. Her little chirps and whines are becoming familiar and she stays out all day.

Yesterday at a friend's, we had homemade wheat pita chips, red grapes and Irish blue cheese. The canapes were so good, that I think  people enjoyed them as much or more than her main entry of chicken salad!

June--Too bad you only got one hour's sleep.  I imagine a nap is on the schedule for a bit later.  The cars can be fixed.  Thank goodness there were no personal injuries.

angelface--Wildfires can be devastating, that's for sure.  Farrah certainly has come a long way in not being a scared cat.  Those canapes do sound good.

Good afternoon, cloudy and on the cooler side.  Yesterday was the first day I used the AC

Gloria our weatherman has said rain in the afternoon everday, yesterday I think there were 3 drops, while I was setting on the porch.

Jackie, I like your new avatar.

Joan, sorry to read about your car problems, that is why I do not like anyone to drive my car. Although I have a couple of times.  I will never drive anyones car, after one of my neighbors totaled and other persons car in the traffic  circle coming from the hospital.

June, I am so happy to see you getting around again.

Shirley and Larry, I think I have a topper to your stories. My DIL was moveing the wedding cake at her borthers wedding, and droped it, She will never live that down, and it still upsets her to talk about it.

Jennny, when I use to go gambling to Atlantic city, it was a 5 to 6 hour ride. Then Foxwood open in Conn. The senior bus goes once a month there or to Moughan Sun. it is almost and hour ride to the ferry, then we take the Sea Jet another 45min across the Sound, then a half hour ride to the casino. It cost $30. but we get free buffet, $10. back also 3 plays on the rollet wheel., where I have won $50. a couple of times.

WE get our disable tags through Town Hall. The doctor signs and application.

By the way JeanneLee, can you get the weather thingie, I have tried a few times.

For your weather gizmo I need your town name and state (I know - New York  :) ) With that I'll give it a try, but I've failed a few times so I won't promise.

Vanilla-Jackie--Thanks for the link.

Linedancer--Shortly after I got home this morning we had heavy rain, and it lasted for about two hours.  I really don't mind people driving my car, except when accidents happen I have to pay the deductible and it goes against my insurance.  Oh my--dropping the wedding cake is awful.

Jeanne Lee--So nice of you to help all these folks with their weather gizmo.

angelface--Bravo to Tim Berners-Lee.

Hello All, I am finally home and finished for the day. Will have a light supper at home. Went to Bible study, my Gary did a fine job, and he gathers a good crowd. He and Dori will be leaving for Utah next week and will be gone for two weeks. They plan to take a slow drive up and will spend about three days in Bend Oregon before they travel on to Utah. They are so busy all the time, they have certainly earned a time out. Went to another program at at 1:30..discussion on news events, then a root beer float treat and more conversation, then outside to watch the shuffleboard  tournament, which was great fun. So that was my day.

June:  Hooray, you are back in the saddle again.....

DD:  sorry about your flowers - I think of you two every time we drive to Quebec.  Glad you had a nice time in the hills.

Joan:  Tough luck that your car was involved - why won't they use their own vehicle?

We had our monthly meeting in our little area and only four of us at the Needle Arts group.  The important thing is that one gal really needed to talk about the loss of her mother recently so it was nice that there were only four of us to listen.  Otherwise, some talk so much that nothing important gets said.  Windy out right now - no A/C is necessary.  Don bought a reconditioned iPod for me and it is working great - now I have an audio book downloaded from the library on it.  One little thing is the Zero is a bit sticky but for a deep fraction of the original price it is behaving beautifully for me.

Carol, I'm doing my best girl. But the horse is back in the barn for the rest of the day. Is there some particular work your Needle Arts group does ? it seems many folks are into quilting now. Isn't it strange that quilting used to be a necessity, and now it is a hobby. A good one in most cases too.

Mycheal, I have three more programs lined up for tomorrow. Being in a single apartment I have time on my hands, so getting out and "doing" is almost essential. I have a housekeeper, three meals a day if I want them, I do my own laundry…no more ironing… so other than the computer and books at home, I need the live association with
others. I do love people, so it is a joy to be with them, and out and about.

CHUCKLES

Havaii

As Morris and his wife, Sherry, were planning a vacation, they ended up in an argument, "It's 'Hawaii', I'm telling you!"

Sherry said. "I never KNEW someone so stubborn! 'Havaii' is how it's pronounced!" he replied. And so it went all the way to the vacation... As they got off the airplane, they passed a man.

Morris abruptly stopped the wife and turned to the man to ask, "Now that we're on the island, you can settle an argument between my wife and me. Is this 'Hawaii' or 'Havaii'?"

"This is Havaii," the man replied. "Ha!" the husband gloated to his wife. "See, didn't I tell you never to argue with me?"

As they began to walk away, Morris turned back and gave the man a hearty, "Thank you!"

"You're velcome!" he called back.

Food For Thought

The Day I Met Daniel
(True story by Richard Ryan)

I sat, with two friends, in the picture window of a quaint restaurant just off the corner of the town-square. The food and the company were both especially good that day. As we talked, my attention was drawn outside, across the street. There, walking into town, was a man who appeared to be carrying all his worldly goods on his back. He was carrying, a well-worn sign that read, "I will work for food." My heart sank.

I brought him to the attention of my friends and noticed that others around us had stopped eating to focus on him. Heads moved in a mixture of sadness and disbelief. We continued with our meal, but his image lingered in my mind. We finished our meal and went our separate ways. I had errands to do and quickly set out to accomplish them. I glanced toward the town square, looking somewhat halfheartedly for the strange visitor. I was fearful, knowing that seeing him again would call some response. I drove through town and saw nothing of him. I made some purchases at a store and got back in my car.

Deep within me, the Spirit of God kept speaking to me: "Don't go back to the office until you've at least driven once more around the square." Then with some hesitancy, I headed back into town. As I turned the square's third corner, I saw him. He was standing on the steps of the store front church, going through his sack.

I stopped and looked; feeling both compelled to speak to him, yet wanting to drive on. The empty parking space on the corner seemed to be a sign from God: an invitation to park. I pulled in, got out and approached the town's newest visitor.

"Looking for the pastor?" I asked.

"Not really," he replied, "just resting."

"Have you eaten today?"

"Oh, I ate something early this morning."

"Would you like to have lunch with me?"

"Do you have some work I could do for you?"

"No work," I replied. "I commute here to work from the city, but I would like to take you to lunch."

"Sure," he replied with a smile.

As he began to gather his things, I asked some surface questions. Where you headed?"

"St. Louis."

"Where you from?"

"Oh, all over; mostly Florida."

"How long you been walking?"

"Fourteen years," came the reply.

I knew I had met someone unusual. We sat across from each other in the same restaurant I had left earlier. His face was weathered slightly beyond his 38 years. His eyes were dark yet clear, and he spoke with an eloquence and articulation that was startling. He removed his jacket to reveal a bright red T-shirt that said, "Jesus is The Never Ending Story."

Then Daniel's story began to unfold. He had seen rough times early in life. He'd made some wrong choices and reaped the consequences. Fourteen years earlier, while backpacking across the country, he had stopped on the beach in Daytona. He tried to hire on with some men who were putting up a large tent and some equipment. A music concert he thought.

He was hired, but the tent would not house a concert but revival services, and in those services he saw life more clearly. He gave his life over to God

"Nothing's been the same since," he said, "I felt the Lord telling me to keep walking, and so I did, some 14 years now."

"Ever think of stopping?" I asked.

"Oh, once in a while, when it seems to get the best of me But God has given me this calling. I give out Bibles. That's what's in my sack. I work to buy food and Bibles, and I give them out when His Spirit leads."

I sat amazed. My homeless friend was not homeless. He was on a mission and lived this way by choice. The question burned inside for a moment and then I asked: "What's it like?"

"What?"

"To walk into a town carrying all your things on your back and to show your sign ?"

"Oh, it was humiliating at first. People would stare and make commen ts. Once someone tossed a piece of half-eaten bread and made a gesture that certainly didn't make me feel welcome. But then it became humbling to realize that God was using me to touch lives and change people's concepts of other folks like me."

My concept was changing, too. We finished our dessert and gathered his things. Just outside the door, he paused. He turned to me and said, "Come Ye blessed of my Father and inherit the kingdom I've prepared for you. For when I was hungry you gave me food, when I was thirsty you gave me drink, a stranger and you took me in."

I felt as if we were on holy ground. "Could you use another Bible?" I asked.

He said he preferred a certain translation. It traveled well and was not too heavy. It was also his personal favorite. "I've read through it 14 times," he said.

"I'm not sure we've got one of those, but let's stop by our church and see" I was able to find my new friend a Bible that would do well, and he seemed very grateful.

"Where are you headed from here?" I asked.

"Well, I found this little map on the back of this amusement park coupon."

"Are you hoping to hire on there for awhile?"

"No, I just figure I should go there. I figure someone under that star right there needs a Bible, so that's where I'm going next."

He smiled, and the warmth of his spirit radiated the sincerity of his mission. I drove him back to the town-square where we'd met two hours earlier, and as we drove, it started raining. We parked and unloaded his things.

"Would you sign my autograph book?" he asked. "I like to keep messages from folks I meet."

I wrote in his little book that his commitment to his calling had touched my life. I encouraged him to stay strong. And I left him with a verse of scripture from Jeremiah, "I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you; Plans to give you a future and a hope."

"Thanks, man," he said. "I know we just met and we're really just strangers, but I love you."

"I know," I said, "I love you, too." "The Lord is good!"

"Yes, He is. How long has it been since someone hugged you?" I asked.

"A long time," he replied

And so on the busy street corner in the drizzling rain, my new friend and I embraced, and I felt deep inside that I had been changed. He put his things on his back, smiled his winning smile and said, "See you in the New Jerusalem."

"I'll be there!" was my reply.

He began his journey again. He headed away with his sign dangling from his bedroll and pack of Bibles. He stopped, turned and said, "When you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?"

"You bet," I shouted back, "God bless."

"God bless." And that was the last I saw of him.

Late that evening as I left my office, the wind blew strong. The cold front had settled hard upon the town. I bundled up and hurried to my car. As I sat back and reached for the emergency brake, I saw them... a pair of well-worn brown work gloves neatly laid over the length of the handle. I picked them up and thought of my friend and wondered if his hands would stay warm that night without them.

Then I remembered his words: "If you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?"

Today his gloves lie on my desk in my office. They help me to see the world and its people in a new way, and they help me remember those two hours with my unique friend and to pray for his ministry.

"See you in the New Jerusalem," he said.
Yes, Daniel, I know I will...

Thought of the Day

"We cannot, and we must not, isolate ourselves from the world in which we live and the problems it faces...The Gospel of Christ has no meaning unless it's applied to our fellow man who hurts and is in need. That's our neighbor, and Jesus said we're to love our neighbor as ourselves."

Good morning Joan, and all who are soon to follow.....

Got our outside home " parkhome specialists " workers here, started work 9am, a lot of banging as they take off lower panelling and side plasticy brickwork panelling all around our parkhome....Just taken two cups of teas out to them, they have now stopped for a short break and I briefly sat out there with them for a chat for 5 minutes...both young guys seem very nice, friendly and pleasant.....this will supposedly be a 3 day job....After the repair work needed, they will outside paint our home...said after removing the whole homes bottom panel, it was very rusty, where the damp, water had gotten through, so it really does need doing....I told guys of before we moved in, the surveyors report never showed this unexpected deterioration, nor did the previous owner's use the correct paint, which their warranty wouldn't transfer over to us. thankfully the surveyor did meet us halfway and compensated towards our now, extra costs outlay.......

Only problem they need to dismantle both outside decking steps, one from the kitchen door, the other from the living room, both lead onto the back garden decking.....I had words with them that that is ok, but not sure if they are solidly stuck or just screwed...I told them I have MS and I need to make sure that when they put them back after painting the home, they make sure they are solid, don't want to have any accidents....so I have given them both the go ahead...after saying they will be screwed back but, I still have a feeling they are stuck solid to the decking also...

Good Morning Everyfriend!  And a special GOOD MORNING to you, Joanie and thank you for breakfast and all the goodies.  I liked the story of Daniel.

Jackie, I hope everything is finished to you specifications and is safe and solid for you.

I'll be off to greet my public at WM this morning.  But before I go I have some forms to get filled out and sent in.  And I have to empty the dishwasher and put away the dishes.

Yesterday, I got tomatoes that came from a farm about 20 miles from here so I guess it's time to start accumulating them for veggie soup.  It's easier to do them a small  amount at a time.  Next time I go to the farmers market, I'll see if I can get a small basket.  I like to buy them from the Amish farmers and then I KNOW they're local.

Lloyd we are having nothing higher than 82 this week and nights in the low 40s.  Good sleeping weather.

I hope you all have a lovely day full of whatever you choose.

Good morning everyone.
Cool here with a temp of 40...great working weather  Have a bit more wood to pile and that is it!!

Dil and I had a great time yesterday, we went fabric shopping and at 75% off we came home with $200.00+ of fabric for less than $60.00. I set her to sewing the fabric she had cut out the night before and I went to help pile wood.

Also took my van in,the  check engine light was on and thankfully it was a quick fix.

Today dil will be sewing as she is going home tonight  :(

Joan, thank you for breakfast.....need to rush and get some laundry on the go!!
Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning and a cool one it is, 48°. Got my fleece robe on and it feels good. I was all set to start reading here last night and this  darn machine froze again. Had to manually shut it down.

JOAN  would you like some of this temperature? Hac ny br window open and slept great, of course I had a light blanket on the bed. Glad I did that because it was needed.

LARRY  I had several pie tins so never missed that one. That was before glass ones became popular. The berries were some I had canned.

JANE  for 2 days the forecast was for rain/thunderstorms in this part of the state. We never got a drop of rain but other parts of the state got it.

JOAN  so much for letting someone drive your car. Hope the insurance does dot go up a lot.

HAL  I have a grandson who started doing yard work about 13. He is still at it and has his own landscaping business now. That is my daughter's younger son.

CALLIE  how wonderful for your granddaughter.

JOAN  oh goodness, seeing all the different choices for breakfast what do I want,  A little of this and a bit more of that and of yes a serving of that, too, some of the crisp bacon, too. The Day I Met Daniel is a keeper. One we all need to remember. I have copied it. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JANE  nights here will be in the upper 40's and the days in the mid 70's. My kind of weather.

AMY  thank you to Canada for sending this cool dry air down to us.

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  You sure are have lots of work done on your new home.  When it's all completed your home should be "ship shape".

Lloyd--Good morning.  It's going to be in the 90s here today, too.

Good morning, Janie.  Thanks for the acknowledgement.  When will you be making the vegetable soup?

Amy--Good morning.  Piling that wood is not an easy job, I know.  The fabric you and DIL got sure was a good bargain.  Sounds like you have a full agenda today.

Good morning, Gloria.  Your new machine is freezing up?  Wonder why?  Yes--I would like some temps like you are having.  Yes, I am upset about the accident and don't think I'll let her drive my car again.  You can enjoy a diverse breakfast today.:)

I have an appointment to see my urologist at 11:00 a.m. so will have to leave about 10:00 a.m.

I liked the story of Daniel, too.  It is sunny this morning and supposed to be a nice day.  Yesterday was beautiful and perfect.  However, summer is lurking near by and will be back soon with temps. of over a 100° expected for next Monday.  I'm hoping that will change to a lower number before it gets here.

I'm putting on my hunting/gathering hat today and will be off to the grocery store later on.

Joan, I hope your car insurance rate will not go up.  I know you feel bad about the accident but I am certain your CMA feels even worse.  Glad that both of you are OK.  That is the most important thing.

Hi everyone on another beautiful clear Thursday here in South Carolina.  It is currently 67 degrees but headed up to 88 degrees.  I was just outside and the humidity is way down.

I did not feel well yesterday so spent a good deal of time laying down both during the morning and the afternoon.  I am feeling somewhat better this morning.

About 4 pm Pat drove me down to pick up my car at the mechanics.  Hopefully it is now pretty well fixed up.

It was after 6 pm before Scott got here and then we enjoyed dinner at home.  Pat had made a pumpkin pie to go with our meal as that is one of Scott's favorite pies.  He stayed until after 10 pm but I had to say good night around 9 pm.

This morning I plan on going to coffee and then the Wisdom group at the church and that should pretty much be the day although we never know what the day may bring before it is over.

Jane, what a delightful memory from Kyle's 12th birthday party as it is one that won't be forgotten
for a long time.

Joan, so sorry to read about the accident.  I will never understand why people insist on parking directly across from a neighbor's driveway.  I have the same setup here but so far have avoided backing into their vehicles but am very, very careful. I am also expecting a long and hot summer here as it is getting a very early start.  We will be into the 90's starting tomorrow.

Jackie, you are right about "expect the unexpected".

Callie, you will certainly appreciate those grab bars in your shower.  Glad you have a good handyman that can do the odd jobs for you. Those were very nice words from Emily.  Both Pat and Stacey have benefited from chiropractors for many years.

deAngel, I agree dropping the wedding cake far exceeds dropping a couple of slices of pie. Was the cake totally ruined?

Jeannie, I have the basic weather coding working based on what you sent to me but I worked yesterday trying to get the code for further information to show but finally gave up for the day as I wasn't feeling up to fooling with it.  I will put it on my list for a future project.

Carol, I hope you enjoy the iPod.

June, you are so right about the importance of social contact.  Glad you are able to do the things you do with the many opportunities provided.  I am sure your son and Dori can use a vacation.

Amy, that sounds like quite a bargain on the fabric.

A good Thursday morning HELLO to EVERYFRIEND.

JOAN, I really enjoyed your goodies today and thank you very much.  I, too, am sorry to read about the mishap with your car.  I know it had to be upsetting to you and you sure do not deserve to have something like this happen.  Best of luck to you as you head off to,the urologist.

JACKIE, happy to,read the workers arrived and got started on the project.  I feel so badly that you are having to deal with so many issues that should have been discovered on your home inspection.  When you head over on "your broom", please do not forget to stop by my house for a visit and enjoy a cuppa with me.

Congrats, CAROL, on getting your new to you, iPad.  I know you will really enjoy it.  We are looking forward to our new Lone Tree Library that will be opening soon.

GLORIA, I had to chuckle at you having to get your warm robe on!  The crazy weather.  Sorry your computer is freezing on you!  Good grief...what is it's problem?

LARRY, sorry you were not feeling the best yesterday.....having to pay that car repair bill sure didn't help!  Take care and hope you are doing much better today.

My Chicago Grand Boys just called me...they are so excited they just viewed a Bald Eagle on their bike ride with their dad.... The pictures have arrived from them and now I have seen it too.

AMY, what a bargain you and your DIL got yesterday on the material... that is wonderful.

PHYLLIS, I hope your "hunting /gathering hat helps you get everything you need at the store today!

JANE, every time I got to WM I look for you to check out with!  Hope you had lot's of happy people in your line today!

Bob is meeting for lunch today with old work cronies.  They are putting together a history book about the bell systems.  I am excited for him to spend time with them.

I must get going...enjoy your day!

Jenny--Isn't it wonderful that you can see photos of your far away grands so quickly with this modern technology?  I did pretty good at the urologist.  He's deciding what to do about the kidney stones.  How nice that Bob gets out with his pals to put together a history book about Bell.

Good afternoon, on another cool day, sunny and very windy.

JeanneLee, thanks you so much for your help. Realy appreciate, what you did for all of us.

Gloria, I got my long sleve night gown out last night, I am not complaining, as I like this kind of weather.

Joan, I am pleased to see you did well at the urologist. To morrow I go to the cardiologist.

Amy, When I first joined this Homemakers, we made baby quilts for aides babies. I also made 8 quilows one year for all family members, for Christmas.  I was so cool last night, I put the one I made my husband on the bed, as I only had a summer spread on it.

Hi to all my other friends. Still missing Sun and Kelly  :missyou:

Home again, home again jiggety jig!  Nothing but nice, smiling, happy people through my lines today.

I've had lunch, gave the doggies a snack and read my way to this point.

Larry, my kids gave me an 80th birthday party a while back and when it was time for the cake to be presented, I heard a small gasp from Kyle's sister and Kyle said, "Oh No! Dad's carrying the cake!"  Kyle is now 23 so the cake incident was 11 years ago and they are still harassing Craig about it.

I'm thinking I hear the sofa calling my name.  I just might answer when my neighbor gets finished mowing his grass.  I have some things to do on the computer and maybe I can finish about the same time he does.

Enjoy your day Everyfriend.

P.S.  Joanie, glad you had a good report.

Good Morning from the Interior! Nothing new here, another rainy day, Farrah is having fun doing normal cat things and I'm still creaking with my arthritis and the damp.

A friend got a triple whammy from her granddaughters yesterday. The first one who had married a twin just announced she was pregnant with twins. Her older sister, who was married to a twin, not related to the other grandson in law, and also expecting twins in about three months accused her sister jokingly about imitating her.

The newly expectant sister laughed and said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." The third younger daughter, said, "Speaking of that." as she announced her engagement to yet another twin, not related to the first two!

And a good day to one and all!

Been kinda busy, bible study and men's breakfast first, then got home and wife told me my Urologist had called and wanted to talk to me about changing an appointment, played phone tag with him, the called one of our bible group who fell and broke a hip and is in rehab, bug man came by and had to wait for him to leave and a couple of other things I got done.

Anyhow I see everyone got along very well without my presence.  Today is a warm (okay hot to you yankees) and forecast of pop-up showers, we got one at my house yesterday afternoon.  Not very long but very hard rain.  One of those sneaky little showers, just came without warning.

Anyhow, everyone have a great day.

Here is Halkel, so where is Junedrabek?....

Jenny, you bet I will stop off at your place first....just look for the black cat.....I wont be far behind...

Well its 8.30pm I am dozing off at the computer already....one day when this head of mine pings forward, I will end up on the floor.....hasn't happened yet, but I am getting very close....

Our workmen left at 4.30 pm, been a very noisy day with hammering and drills, not forgetting Toby's barking...but they were straight on the job, worked hard and kept us informed of their progress, talking to us, explaining, and answering any questions we had...Today they have prepared the work in preparation for tomorrow....showed us a corner above the panel that was rotten where the water had soaked through, boy did it smell rotten too.....they have now fixed that with a new larger panel......they will be bringing along paint sample chart as we do have a choice of colours for when they do the paining....Oh and tomorrow they will move the backdoor decking step....there will be a big drop so myself and the dogs, doubt we will be able to get out in the garden, they dismantled the lounge step today, but allowing us the use of the kitchen step....these steps need removing so they can paint behind them....

They will be back 9am tomorrow morning...two really lovely guys...I kept them well supplied in teas and biscuits...

Angelface, don't they say..." good packages come in threes?...."

Linedancer--While I was in  the doctor's office this morning it started raining hard, and it hasn't stopped.  I am not complaining because we need it.  Tomorrow I have to go see my pulmonologist.

Janie--Sure is nice that you always seem to have smiling people in your line.  My couch called me about an hour ago, and I had a nice rest.  Thanks for your comment on my good report.

angelface--Wow, there are a lot of twins in that family you mention.  I thought we had a lot of twins.  I am a twin and my twin brother's daughter had twins.  My oldest daughter is married to a twin.   My  husband's twin had a daughter who has twins.

halkel--Your day has been filled with a variety of things.

Vanilla-Jackie--I was wondering where June was, too.  Hope she is OK.

WHEW!  Talk about lots of twins, you folks take the cake.   The first twins in our family were brought in by my grandson's wife.  She is a twin and has twin relatives on both sides of her family.  The very best part of all this is that  I now have twin great grandsons who will be two in September.

We also have some twins.  My great aunt had a twin who died at birth.  There were three sets of twins in my MIL's generation (she was one of 17 children).  I have twins and my oldest daughter is married to a twin.

Vanilla-Jackie--I know she is.

Jeanne Lee--Ray and I were told that usually twins skip a generation, but since both of us were twins there was a big probability we'd have twins.  We had 3 single births.

angelface--Before my twin and I were born, there were no twins on either my paternal or maternal grandparents lineage.

June--You have had a busy day.  When is your daughter-in-law coming to visit?

Janie--Your family is blessed with sets of twins, too.  OMG--17 children.  I can't wrap my head around raising that many.

My MIL's parents were immigrants from Italy and were Roman Catholic.  I can't imagine it either.  My husband's cousin was one of my first friends when I moved to Lewisburg in 5th grade.  We were talking about our families one day and Nancy asked me how many cousins I had.  I counted them up on both sides and told her I had 12.  She said that she had 55.  I didn't believe her until she proved to me that she also had 16 aunts and uncles...13 of whom had lived to adulthood.  2 uncles and one aunt died at birth.  They had one of those noisy, loving, generous Italian families that you see on TV.  My MIL and Nancy's mother were the only ones who had not married Italians.

The best laid plans are often not to be. Shortly after my last message here, my phone rang. It was my darling Daughter in Love, Dori. She was on her way to visit with me and hang my pictures. Which she did. all 24 of them, and I am more than delighted. She hangs them in groupings and it looks so well decorated. She is so talented. after she arrived, Grace the computer girl that works here at Rowntree came and she installed Adobe Flash for me. Do now I have my Utube, and card program back in use. Grace is such a darling, and really knows how to make computers do what they are supposed to do. In the midst of all this, my neighbor came over, fearful that I was hurt and pounding on the wall for help. She stayed and stayed, evidently enjoying the activities, and all my pictures.

So now I am at home with myself. Very thankful for all the help and hugs and caring I have received. I feel very blessed.

Just had a phone call. I will be picked up at our Clinic downstairs by a gentleman who will transport me to see my medical Dr. on Monday per instructions from the hospital where I visited for three days. All these things are done by Rowntree Gardens. Gary would ordinarily take me, but he and Dori are leaving Monday for Idaho. I am SO well cared for, and I am SO thankful.

Interesting to read about so many families with Twins.  As far as I know, there have not been Twins in either the maternal or paternal sides of our family among the Brennan or Allen families.

Spent some time earlier today in my Eye Dr.'s office.  Got good results and I don't have to return for another 6 months!

My computer has really been acting up recently and today I was NOT able to access my checking account on line.  Guess tomorrow I'll visit my Bank in person and try NOT to be too Irish!

The recent posts have been interesting to read and I really appreciate being able to access them most of the time.

Mohamed is scheduled to arrive in NC on June 15 in the evening.  But since that is the heavy traffic time on the highway, he agreed to take a Taxi.  He'll have a short break from grading the hundreds of end-of-semester exams for this students and then return to Egypt again and more papers to grade.  Sure hope he can rest a bit here.

Thanks again to all Friends for continued prayers for our family - especially for Mohamed in Egypt and David at his new two-year post in Korea.

I went out for my daily walk but did not go far. The sun felt good but the wind was so strong the flag was flying straight out. I had a warm jacket on but the wind cut to the bones. I made it to the end of the walk and turned around and came back. No walking the parking lot today. Tonight is supposed to be colder than last night.

JOAN  this PC freezes for a few minutes at least once every day. Occasionally it stays that way and I shut it down manually. Hope your appointment had good news.

JANE  nothing like a bowl of hot home made soup on a cold winter day. The freezer is too small in the fridge here I no longer make a big pot of it to freeze.  Always tastes better after it is frozen.

JEANNE  it was 48 here when I first looked this morning but I know it would be colder where you live. I have a heat setting on my AC and was tempted to turn I on to see if it really does heat up.

JENNY  this morning I was happy that fleece robe did not get put away for the season. Sure felt good to have it on and stop being cold.  The heat in the building is shut off till October. If I knew the problem with this darn machine I could get it fixed.  No matter how many times I have called them and they got into this thing they can find nothing. I really am thinking of getting the 10 downloaded. Might be their copy of 7 pro that is installed. I would be excited if I saw an eagle . I have seen them in a zoo but never in the wild. Wonderful the Bob and his “cronies” are doing that Bell book.

JOAN  I hope the doctors find an easy way to dissolve them and painless to you.

GLORIA de  I am not complaining either. Love this temperature it is the wind today that I did not like being outside in. It is the hot and humid summer weather I complain about.

PATRICIA  your friend's family will get bigger with 4 babies not just 2. No twins in my family.

HAL  we Yankees like our 4 seasons although our springs seem to be getting shorter every year.

JACKIE  better get a seat belt for your computer chair to hole you in so you don't fall when you do nod off sitting there. No falls allowed. You are the only one I know who gives the workers tea and a snack. I doubt anyone here does that. I know no one ever offers my son anything when he works at their homes, not even a glass of water.

JUNE  a surprise visit from your DIL is always a pleasure.  Wish there was a place here like your Rowntree, then if there was I would not be able to afford it. So nice to have things arranged for you. Gets wo tiresome always calling for a ride appointment and then never knowing if they will be here on time or are angry if you appointment takes even 5 minutes longer than you thought it would.

SHIRLEY  wish I could send some of these wonderful temperatures we are having right now. The wind today was what got to me. Believe my I do complain, whine about the summer heat and humidity. Never seems to be a breeze either then.

MOLLY  I thought Chaps was only going to be gone 1 year, 2 are horrible.

Sweat dreams everyone.

Gloria, the temperature in my unit this morning was 69 degrees and that is too cold so I turned on the heat.  It is not the first time I've turned on the heat recently.

I have Windows 7 Pro too and have all sorts of odd things happen - like losing the post or the cursor jumping somewhere with the letters I just typed.

Gloria, I really had a wonderful day with all the activities taking place, and I am so happy with what Dori did with my pictures and what Grace did with my computer. I am really tired tonight but it is a good tired. I had supper at home so have a few odds and ends to wash up…and it will be an early bed time for me. Housekeeper arrives about 7:15 tomorrow morning so I want to be up and out of bed by then. Thanks for the Minions…I really enjoy them. Have a goodnight my friend and I will do the same.

Janie, Good night dear friend. Sleep well.

And if I don't sneak back in later…because I will be sleeping….I will bid you all a very, very good night. Peace,Love, Prayers and Hugs. June

Multiple sclerosis patients walking, working and skiing after groundbreaking therapy

Multiple sclerosis patients who were severely disabled are walking, working and even downhill skiing again following a breakthrough therapy which completely destroys, then rebuilds, the immune system.

Halkel, very interesting, think I may have read this before but, it does state for aggressive - relapsing....still think that rules out mine....primary progressive...One day there will be a breakthrough for the type I have, but again, not in my lifetime, and would they be bothered, as we tend to be in the older age bracket anyway....

Thank you Halkel for caring enough to show me this link...(( hug )) now if only some medic could sort out top of my right leg, I might be able to get a life... :'(  as when it builds up it affects my whole body, become more jittery and tremory.....affecting my nervous system.....then strangely subsides by the end of the day...

Gloria, as far as I know it is an English custom to supply cuppas to our indoor workmen, not sure if the younger generation would do it, but that's the way I grew up....have to say, R is the same....

CHUCKLES

Flower Show

Two little old ladies, Connie and Evelyn, were sitting on a park bench outside the local town hall where a flower show was in progress.

The short one, Connie, leaned over and said: “Life is so boring. We never have any fun anymore. For $10, I'd take my clothes off and streak through that stupid, boring flower show!”

“You're on!” said Evelyn, holding up a $10 bill.

So Connie slowly fumbled her way out of her clothes. She grabbed a dried flower from a nearby display and held it between her teeth. Then, completely naked, streaked through the front door.

Her friend soon heard a huge commotion inside the hall, followed by loud applause and shrill whistling. Finally, the smiling Connie came through the exit door surrounded by a cheering, clapping crowd.

“What happened?” asked Evelyn.

“I won $1,000 as first prize for 'Best Dried Arrangement'...”

I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed.
The die has been cast.
The decision has been made.
I have stepped over the line.
I won't look back, let up, slow down or back away.

My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished and done with selfish living, sight walking, small planning, "smooth knees," colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap giving and dwarfed goals.

I no longer need pre-eminence, position, plaudits, pity or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with His patience, live by prayer and labor with His power.

My face is set; my gait is sure; my goal is heaven; my road is narrow; my way is rough, my companions are few; my Guide is reliable; my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity or meander in the maze of mediocrity because I have been sustained by Christ.

I won't give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid up, spoken up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My banner is clear.

I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed.

Good morning Joan....

Hm definitly food for thought...." a made up mind..." this is something I need to read over and over again, taking it all in, everything author says...I am sure every word speaks the truth....

Same thing happening today, workers arrived dead on time, 9am, very punctual, I like that....got straight on with the work, I called out " are you ready for a cuppa..." main talker replied yes...." so on went the kettle.....Then soon after R called to me to come out the front and choose the colour of paint, and of which ones are available to use as from today, any other colour I choose would have to be ordered, well still haven't made up my mind, it is between two after ruling one out as too bright...
Well some banging, drilling noises have been going on, but today is another day to getting nearer to completion, so just have to grin and bare it for now.....

Anyway I am hoping Everyfriends day turns out a little quieter....

Good morning everyone.

We had frost!!! sure hope my garden is ok! Dil went home last night after 3 fun days .she did get her quilt almost put together and will work on it at home.

Wood is all piled now so that is one less job, garden needs to be weeded and that may be the job for today along with corralling up the dust bunnies.

I always take tea/coffee/water and eats to workers also. If your working longer than you thought you also get a meal .

Gloria, more cold weather coming your way. I wore a winter coat the other day while piling wood as we had a cold lazy wind, rather go through you than around you.

Joan,thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone

Jackie, I have a handyman whose first words in the door are..."Do I smell coffee?"  My response is always "Your favorite mug is on the counter".  If there are cookies, he knows to help himself.  I think it might be our generation.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Another WM day...looking for smiling faces.  Friday tends to be a busy day and that makes the time go faster.

We had a cold night...low 40s and prediction is only in low 70s for today.  This is my kind of June but it's not going to be fun for the kids who take swimming lessons in the morning.

I wish you all a happy day!

Jane S, I think you may be right...." it was our generation...." as to when was the last time we saw a " gentleman " tip his cap and say good morning?.....Last time for me was a few years ago before MS, when out walking the streets with my dogs, walking along one quiet side road I passed on the other side of the road going in the opposite direction an elderly gent who done that to me....If I remember right maybe a Sunday morning typical of the older generation men, walking to the local newsagents to collect their Sunday morning paper....sadly this is slowly dying out....

Vanilla-Jackie--You're slowly having things fixed and soon your home will be just like you want it.

Amy--Good morning.  Frost?  In June?  Sure hope it didn't destroy your garden.  So today you dance with the dust mop? :)

Good morning, Janie.  I always offer a cold or hot drink to any workmen here.  Nice that all the faces in your line at WM are wearing a smile.

Lloyd--Good morning.  Here it's again going to be hot and humid.

I'll be off to see my pulmonologist about 10:00 a.m.  My appointment is at 11:00 a.m., but it takes about an hour to get there.

Good morning everyone, warmer than yesterday but not too warm.

MAY ANN  my mouse is acting odd, too. If I hit the wrong key and hit the back space it the cursor will jump up to something I typed before and I have to go back and look for where I started typing was to get rid of the correction.

JUNE  glad you enjoyed the Minions. I would love to see the movie with them.

HAL  that stem cell work they are doing these days sounds promising.

JACKIE  wonderful custom to give the workers something to drink and snack on. My CNA is here at lunch time and on occasion she will make me something and I tell her to have some herself. She has told me they are not allowed to eat with their clients. They also can not accept anything from their clients.  I had a plant I wanted to get rid of, a cactus I could no longer handle. One of the CNA's  I had really liked it and I wanted to give it to her but she could not accept it.

JOAN  maybe I will try a breakfast  burrito this morning. One bite at least to try it. Never had a burrito of any kind. Really got a chuckle picturing this one. A Made up Mind is something we should all think about doing. Good quote, sounds like all the political campaigning going on here. Thank you for all today's goodies.

JACKIE  hope you and R decide on the same color.

AMY  your wind is like we had yesterday. Weather guesser said less wind today. Goodness hope the frost did not damage anything in your garden. Stacking wood is a hard job. Hope you have enough now for next winter.

JANE  this weather could be here all summer and I would love it.

JACKIE  when anyone holds a door open for me it always surprises me and I always thank them. Some people still have manners.

LLOYD  good morning, enjoy your day. Lot of drive by shootings in Providence, too.

JOAN  I wish you good news with your appointment today.

JACKIE  you hit it, RESPECT is something that is not taught much to the younger generation any more.

JEANNE  thanks for the reminder.

Good morning, Gloria.  My cursor does strange things, too.  Good for you for at least trying the burrito.  I remember when my kids were young and they'd stick their noses up at something I served, I told them they had to have a least one bite.

Good Morning Everyone!

Haven't stuck my nose out so don't know temp, suspect it is plenty warm, and suppose to be pop up showers later today.  Yard guy is coming to cut the yard, it is growing so fast.  Not used to that.

Yep Gloria the stem cell work is making progress finally.  And some things they thought could never be cured, well cures are in sight.  Except the common cold,
which, believe it or not does kill a lot of people.

Lloyd the killings of adults and children seems to be quite common now all over the world.  I cant help but believe that legal abortion helped to create the thought that killing is okay.

Coffee is ready, anyone want to join me on the patio for a cup.

Joanie, my granddaughter spent the night last night and at supper we had buttermilk pie and she stuck her nose up at it, finally got her to taste it, but she had made up her mind she didn't like it.  I sure did though.......

Hi everyone.  We are expecting our high today to be in the mid-90's so will be a good day to spend the afternoon inside where it is cool.

Yesterday turned out to be a great day as felt like my old self and really enjoyed coffee with the guys and the Wisdom group.  Pat finally completed a 1,000 piece jigsaw puzzle that was very difficult as the pieces were cut in really odd shapes.  She has been working on it for several weeks.

About the only thing on the schedule for today is that Pat has a 10:15 doctor's appointment.  I probably won't go with her as we have been there several times and the route, while taking about 25 minutes, is an easy one.  This will be the furthest she will have struck out on her own since we moved here.  Change of plans as I will drive her to the appointment after all.

Jenny, it sounds like Bob and his friends are untaking quite a job to put together a book.  Hope it goes will.

Joan, this sounds like your week for doctor appointments.

Don, the browser we are using, including the Window 10's EDGE do not impact on the coding here as the coding is a part of the software that runs this site.  To see all of the things available  just click on Preview when you are at the posting box and it will display the codes.  The Preview also will show you what your message will look like when it is completed.  The main things is to not to forget to then save the message or it won't be posted.

deAngel, several years ago Pat made several quilows and I think our son is still using one but it is about worn out.

Jackie, you treat the workmen very well.  I have offered a drink of water to workmen several times but they have declined and know they have water available to them on their truck.  Hope you find just the right color that you will be pleased with for your exterior.

Jeanne, do you get to see your twin great grandsons very often?

June, glad you finally got your pictures hung as you wanted them.  I bet it adds a lot to your apartment.

Shirley, it sounds like you are almost overdoing things.  Don't forget to rest and take care of yourself.  I never thought of having someone else do my whining.  :)

Molly, have you had your appointment yet to see about the headaches?  I know you mentioned it would be coming up some time ago.  Glad that Mohamed is going to be able to spend a couple of weeks away from the stress in his country and his papers to grade.  Have you heard from Chaps since he got to Korea?

Amy, is frost unusual for your area this time of the year.  Do you have a big garden?

Lloyd, we are having similar hot weather here in South Carolina.  I fear the gangs are beginning to run wide in many cities and murder seems to be a common thing.  It is bad enough to kill each other in gangs but so sad when innocent people, often children, are killed in a cross fire.  Atlanta is the same way.  Fortunately, murders are a rare occurrence where we now live although there are some occasionally.

Gloria, it makes a lot of sense for the CNA's to not accept gifts or meals from clients.  It is nice when people observe the rules.

Hal, I agree with you on your thoughts about the impact of abortion on the view towards killing.  We are also impacted from the various TV programs and then the terrible war and violence games that many young people play.  If you will send me your email address I will send you the code the Jeanne used to fix my weather gizmo.  I don't see it in your profile.

Larry, I do so much whining all summer I really would like someone else to fill in for me so I don't come off as just a "b****y" old lady (which I am in the heat).

Amy, MOVE OVER.. I'd love to spend the summer where it is cool~  heading for the mountains in CO soon but they are also looking at high temps and so many trees have been cut down from the pine needle bug it is hard to find shade to park under.  But I'm willing to look... ;)

Hal, along with your thoughts I also think the next generation down was "hardened" by violent movies.  I still cringe at gory movies & want to come out smiling, not ready to up-chuck at the close ups of blood running. Not that I go to movies, if not on TV... I don't watch them.  I like happy movies or shows that we can sing the music for the next year (or 50).

Best wishes for a good report, Joan... my next cardio check is end of this month.  These pig heart valves are said to last 15 years, I'd like that extended since I've already used up 3 years.

Busy day so better get moving.    :coolsmiley:   This is me with my extreme dark tint & slightly too strong newish glasses.  Not sure why the tint turned out so dark but my own fault for telling the doctor that I was having trouble reading street signs with the old ones.  Didn't mention that I am heavy on the foot feed & might help if I slowed down to read them.   :crazy2:  I do think the LED lights are harder on eyes, so much brighter I need tint in the stores now.  Just thinking...........

I still find a little curtsy going on over here. This week a man did hold open a elivator door for me and another one in front let me go first. Cute one was a little boy about 7 opened the Library door and held it for me. So there is hope.  Now will say that most women do not practice doing it. Some let the door close in your face.

Bis, Thank you !!!!!!! I did applaud after reading.
A Made up Mind.  It says what I am aiming for in my present life. We are never too old, or to weak, to grow strong and determined to live each day to the fullest. With God, ALL things are possible. And the Thought of the Day, says it all in our present day "news".

Jackie, we were both impressed with todays messages. How gracious of R to respect your opinion on colors. My husband used his opinion on matters like that.

Amy your DIL sounds as dear and loved by you as my Dori is by me. Mine arrived yesterday with all the materials needed to hang pictures, and now my walls are beautifully decorated with my pictures of family on one wall, and my son's and mother's artistry on the other wall. even my bathroom has pictures.

Speaking of generational attitudes. I can't imagine a man tipping his hat to many women today. Womens' Rights have destroyed that gesture of respect. and the way some women dress now, the men may fear even recognizing them in politeness.

Bis, we once again are having an overcast day with sun finally giving us a wink at three this afternoon, then disappearing again. Better that than the summer heat. I would have welcomed this climate in Hemet where it was hot and dry.

Gloria, we have that ruling too, the people that work for us are not allowed to received gifts of any kind, or they could be fired.

Larry, you are correct. The pictures make this apartment my home. And the family grouping especially. I can see the faces that I pray for each morning, and enjoy their smiles throughout the day.

Shirley, I feel we can just be ourselves here at the S.S. If we need to gripe to our friends, they understand because we have all been there and done that ourselves. And you do not complain too much, you have an interesting life that you let us enjoy with you.

The workmen are doing something in our huge garden that requires a machine with a hose attached but a huge tree blanks out a portion of my view. I'm still in my p.j.'s at mid morning, so perhaps I will dress and go downstairs to view what is taking place. see you all later.

A quick note (excuse to sit a second)... about my latest fiasco... was waiting until closer to time to depart before putting some stuff in the RV.  I've had it plugged into garage power for weeks to have frig & freezer cold.  I freeze Tupperware square boxes so I can put some in the 'frig when traveling down the road.  I don't want to travel with the propane on (supposed to be safe but I don't think so).

Anyway, was melting down as I went about organizing for the next trip & gave a thought to "why don't I have the AC on?"  I considered calling & asking my son if any special warnings about using it... but knew he was busy today.  Turned it on, sounded fine & I came back in the house as smug as can be.

Later was outside & didn't hear the AC running so went in to check.  Knew instantly what was wrong... I blew the garage fuse!  Oops, it isn't rated for "that much juice" so spent a week's worth of energy running down to the breaker box in the basement, no label for garage so looked for a switch out of line... only one so I tripped it.  Outside, woe is me, not the one.  Did this several times & gave up & called son.  He offered to come over since garage door opener won't close with that breaker off... & I insisted I'd try again.  Flipped every switch except ones marked pool & furnace... (will be resetting clocks for the next week!)  BUT I GOT IT RUNNING!  I am exhausted, dripping with sweat & need to run to the store so will just go like a bum & streak in & out.

Pollyanna always has to find something good about a problem, I sure got points with Fitbit on steps & stairs!!!   I'm rested & will change clothes to run to the store.  Thank you June for the kind words.  Glad you got your pictures on the wall.  I think you have a wonderful new home.

I had a nice experience today and I'd like to share it.  Lately, I've taken to thanking people who I know are veterans but this morning there was a family who came through my line and they had an elderly gentleman in a wheel chair who was wearing a baseball cap that proclaimed him to be a veteran of WWII.  He didn't look very cheerful and the family seemed to be talking around him and over his head and I walked around the counter and held out my hand and said "Thank you for your service!"  His head came up and his face lit up and he shook my hand and said a resounding "Your welcome".  He was still smiling when they walked away.  I passed them a little later and he had relapsed into his unhappy face.  When he spotted me grinning at him, he waved and smiled all over his face.  It takes so little to make a person happy sometimes.

Today was a GOOD DAY!

I just returned from a loooooong stroll, both our side and inside. Covered all three floors and legs just barely cramped up, which is very good news. Soon will be time to go down for lunch. Just two programs to attend today, the Shuffleboard Tournament at 3p.m. and a documentary "Great Adventures: David Livingstone at 6:30, so this early afternoon with be a nice nap and reading.

Oh, my sweet Janie !!!!!  Thank you and I know God is Blessing you for that kind, sincere greeting you gave that Veteran. My eyes are full of happy tears. It takes so little on our part to give new hope to others.

I have had no trouble with people being polite and holding doors.  And I hold them for others if they are near enough.  Where I notice it most is the “hamburg joint” where Dot and I eat Sunday mornings.  We always meet someone coming out or coming in and all of  us hold the doors for the others.

June, I don’t think there are enough men who wear hats these days.  So many young men wear caps with visors and often wear them backward.  They even keep them on when eating.  I think parents do not teach manners any more â€" perhaps please and thank you, but sometimes not even that.

Jane, go to the head of the line for politeness and thoughtfulness.  I’ll bet that vet of WW II will remember you for a long time.

Janie--How very sweet of you to go out and acknowledge that vet.  I am sure it made his day--and yours, too.

June--You are doing so well with your walks.  Enjoy the programs you are going to be attending.

Mary Ann--Many of these young folks have NO manners at all.  When I see a male in a restaurant eating with his hat on, I am sooooooo tempted to go up to him and snatch the hat.  However, I really wouldn't dare for fear he'd pull a weapon.

Larry.....I don't think "EDGE" recognizes those codes. None of the formatting works for me when using EDGE. I understand it doesn't work for Jack and several others.

If you sign into S & F using "EDGE", can you use all the formatting functions?

Well at last somethings going in my favour....I have been granted a " Blue Badge.." disabled parking.."...Haven't received it yet, they are asking for passport size photo, copy of utility bill, plus a £10 cheque, says It should arrive in 7 days once they receive the signed form back...I now have the envelope sealed and awaiting to post....

The reality is tough as I am now officially classed as disabled, or in hindsight, reading this...from the day I was diagnosed with MS.....Link....

Joanie, as a young man we were told take it off or get it knocked off.  Men were very diligent on many things in those days.  You didn't smoke in the presence of a lady without asking permission.  Always walked on the outside (next to street) when walking with a lady.  Always opened doors (car too) for ladies.  Plus some other things, but most don't even know rules much less follow them.  My Mother always insisted I follow them.  Hats were never worn inside.  By the way in the military the same rule applies.  When under cover take your hat off.

Vanilla-Jackie--Seems they handle these disabled tags/plates differently in many places.  As I said earlier, mine had to be signed by my doctor and didn't cost a cent.

Janie--How right you are.

halkel--Those rules of yore sure aren't followed by many today--truth to be known most youngsters probably aren't taught manners/courtesy.

LARRY - Many thanks for thinking of David.  In fact I received an brief email from him today letting me know that he had arrived safely and was getting around his new base, meeting fellow Officers and soldiers and learning about his duties.  He'll stay in touch once he is settled in a bit more.  But I am so very grateful to all Friends who have kept him in prayers as he transferred to Korea AND especially for the prayers for his safety and that of his family while he is away.  I thank all of you who have taken the time to offer prayers and good wishes for David and his family!

JOAN  I will try something new but if I do not like the taste I will no try it again. Like you I told my 3 they had to try a bite. I had a BIL who would make my nephew eat everything and some things made him sick. I always thought that was mean.

HAL  they have talked about stem cell for years, about time they stop talking and do something. Never heard of buttermilk pie. I did try buttermilk once and never again.

LARRY  Shirley and I fee the same about summer heat and humidity. Either her or me complain about it all summer.

SHIRLEY  one reason why I like the old movies. Just good entertainment, especially the old musicals.

JOAN  that hurry and wait tires us more than doing something.

JANE  you made that elderly veteran feel great today. It is terrible the way some are treated when they age, they are just there to the family and don't seem to care.

MARY ANN  I always hold the door when I see someone approaching, even here I will hold the elevator for someone coming.  Some see you coming and let the doors close in your face.

JOAN  never know who has a gun or knife hidden these days.

JACKIE  my handicap tag didn't cost anything except the price of the stamp to mail it in.

HAL  in the many years my daughter worked at the school she could tell those who had teaching of manners at home and those who didn't.  Sad that manners and respect are not taught at home by parents.

If I am not around tomorrow it is because I have decided to download 10. It is set to download tonight starting at 11. Got that darn blue screen again. This time did not restart on i's own fast. One thing is said was the operating system might be corrupted and to reinstall it. I have had problems since I got this machine so thought about time I installed 10. Cannot have more problems than I already have.

Have a good night.

JaneS:  Very thoughtful of you to give a nod to the WWII veteran.  We have 4 in our neighborhood and they had some dicey duties.

Gloria:  My laptop (my main computer) downloaded Windows 10 by itself.  Now, that is really taking over our lives, isn't it?  After a week or more, everything seems to be fine and nothing lost.

Shirley:  Just glad that you are alright after that episode with power.  You always have the most interesting stories.

Jenny:  We found a new place for lunch - or even breakfast, I think.  It is called Kneaders and is a Bakery/Cafe on Lincoln (next to a Starbucks) - on the north side.  I had a half salad with a baguette - yum.

My plans for the day crumbled. Had a nice big healthful lunch, then home to nap. Had just dozed off when the cleaning lady came to do the bathroom. Just went back to sleep when the phone rang. It was a lady from United Health care, my medical insurance, enquiring about my hospital stay and how I was feeling. She got interested in where I live and the care I receive and said she would love to live here when the time came she needed it. She lives in L.A. at the present time, so I told her to look it up on the computer as they have more than one facility. She hung up and I fell back asleep till late afternoon, needed a shower and shampoo so that erased any other plans I had. Now I am shiny clean with wet hair, fed, and waiting to dry out so I can go to bed. My hair dryer died and I didn't want another one.

Gloria, I wish my brain know all the things you know about your computer. I have to ask others to do things I am afraid to try. Every one assures me I cannot harm anything. Little do they know. I am prone to push my luck and then end up in trouble.

Time to close down and retire. I wish you all a pleasant, restful sleep, and a happy tomorrow. With my Love, Prayers, and Hugs. June

Halkel, so right, a gentleman....." always walked on the outside (next to street) when walking with a lady......" My late father was a stickler for doing that.....I remember when very young, on a Sunday morning, in the days of the public houses opening for a few lunchtime hours, my father and me walking to the pub, me in the pub gardens, while father and friends taking it in turns bringing us ( children ) out our fizzy drinks and packets of salted crisps ( the ones with the half a dozen blue bags of salt in...) then on our walk home if it started to rain, father would take off his suit jacket, place it around both of our shoulders, protecting me from the elements, whilst all along the journeys he would walk on the kerb side of the road, telling me the reason, he was taught that in the army....Another thing father was a stickler for, was ordering me whilst we were walking was, to stand straight, head up high looking straight ahead, shoulders back, pull in my stomach, push out my chest....at least that's the way I remember it...

Good Saturday morning, Everyfriend.   There's Eggs Benedict to accompany your coffee or tea. I wish everyone a good day!!

CHUCKLES

Dog Drinking Water

When we take our dog on a car journey, we carry his drinking water in a gin bottle. On one occasion we stopped for lunch and let him out of the car.

Pouring some water from the bottle into his bowl, I noticed a man watching with fascination.

He came over to me and whispered, "I hope that you're not going to let him drive!"

Food For Thought

Hands
(Author Unknown)

An old man, probably some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the park bench. He didn't move, just sat with his head down staring at his hands. When I sat down beside him he didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if he was ok.

Finally, not really wanting to disturb him but wanting to check on him at the same time, I asked him if he was ok. He raised his head and looked at me and smiled.

"Yes, I'm fine, thank you for asking," he said in a clear strong voice.

"I didn't mean to disturb you, sir, but you were just sitting here staring at your hands and I wanted to make sure you were ok," I explained to him.

"Have you ever looked at your hands," he asked. "I mean really looked at your hands?"

I slowly opened my hands and stared down at them. I turned them over, palms up and then palms down. No, I guess I had never really looked at my hands as I tried to figure out the point he was making.

Then he smiled and related this story: "Stop and think for a moment about the hands you have, how they have served you well throughout your years. These hands, though wrinkled, shriveled and weak have been the tools I have used all my life to reach out and grab and embrace life. They braced and caught my fall when as a toddler I crashed upon the floor. They put food in my mouth and clothes on my back. As a child my mother taught me to fold them in prayer. They tied my shoes and pulled on my boots. They dried the tears of my children and caressed the love of my life. They held my rifle and wiped my tears when I went off to war. They have been dirty, scraped and raw, swollen and bent. They were uneasy and clumsy when I tried to hold my newborn son. Decorated with my wedding band they showed the world that I was married and loved someone special. They wrote the letters home and trembled and shook when I buried my parents and spouse and walked my daughter down the aisle. Yet, they were strong and sure when I dug my buddy out of a foxhole and lifted a plow off of my best friends foot. They have held children, consoled neighbors, and shook in fists of anger when I didn't understand.

They have covered my face, combed my hair, and washed and cleansed the rest of my body. They have been sticky and wet, bent and broken, dried and raw. And to this day when not much of anything else of me works real well these hands hold me up, lay me down, and again continue to fold in prayer. These hands are the mark of where I've been and the ruggedness of my life. But more importantly it will be these hands that God will reach out and take when he leads me home.

And while He will care about where these hands have been and what they have done, He also cares about whom these hands belong to - With these hands He will lift me to His side and there I will use these hands to touch the face of Christ."

No doubt I will never look at my hands the same again. I never saw the old man again after I left the park that day but I will never forget him and the words he spoke. When my hands are hurt or sore or when I stroke the face of my children and wife I think of the man in the park. I have a feeling he has been stroked and caressed and held by the hands of God.

Thank you, Father God, for hands and all that we can do with them to show Your love in our world.

Later today, 3'ish, I have my appointment with the alterations lady I found, she is taking the hem up on two maxi jersey skirts and a down to my feet fine quilted dressing gown...... Her website says she is the only person who does " long arm quilting..."  using a Gammill Statler Stitcher....... not sure what either of those mean.....Amy, you might be familiar with this......Link......

Good Morning Everyfriend...and a special Good Morning to you Joanie and to you Jackie.  I've read something similar to that "hands" story before and Jackie is right...you never think of hands in the same way after reading something like that.  Thank you for the reminder.

Today is my "get ready to travel with dogs" day.  Tomorrow, right after church, I'll come home and pick up the doggies and go to my sisters.  In the afternoon, we will go on to my niece's for my grandniece's 16th birthday party.  I'll be back home late afternoon on Monday.  If I don't put in an appearance here, that's why.  It's going to be a couple of pretty busy days.

I wish you all a day exactly as you wish for yourselves!

Good morning Vanilla-Jackie.  I thought "Hands" was quite profound.  Shame on those workmen for not showing up.

Janie--Good morning.  Glad you enjoyed "Hands".  Enjoy your time with family while celebrating your grandniece's 16th birthday.

Good morning, Lloyd.  It's going to be hot again here, too.  Too bad you damaged two mower tires.  Be careful, please, when you are fixing them.

I wonder where Amy is.  I hope she is OK.

Good Morning Everyone!

Coffee is on and I have read most of the post.

Joanie, like  you I hope Amy is okay.  She is so energetic it is not like her not to check in.

Kinda cloudy out this morning and again possibility of showers.  But we didn't get them the last couple of days.

Everyone have a great day.

Unless something is wrong with Amy's hubby, let us hope not....
........................
Well work guys never turned up, nor can we get in touch with boss Sam by landline nor mobile, so as usual we are playing the waiting game to see what happens Monday, shame as the day started off cloudy and damp but, now the sun is out and it has remained dry, they could have got a whole heap of work done today, as he said yesterday, there is sealing by the windows, coats of paints, and he was going to bring the colour chart in this morning, forgot to yesterday but he did bring in large cans of paint...said I could make up my final mind today.....but he isn't here....
........................
Soon leaving to take my garments in,...this is a journey we haven't done before, quite a few miles to travel, 21 miles, I am wanting to leave now, but R knows best,  he will get me there late or dead on time, ::) plus a whole heap of roundabouts to go wrong on....ha ha, not forgetting loo stop offs..... then guess I will have to leave them behind and go collect next Saturday...cant see her doing these on the spot....but there is no hurry, next week is fine....

Good morning, halkel.  We had rain all day Thursday, but none since.  I sure hope there's nothing wrong at Amy's house.

Vanilla-Jackie--The workmen should have at least given you a courtesy call to let you know they were not coming.  Good luck going to the seamstress.

Hi everyone.  It is another clear morning and we are headed up to 95 this afternoon.  As far as I know we won't be leaving the comfort of our home today other than a couple of outdoor chores that I will do in a few minutes and later to get the mail.

Yesterday I did drive Pat to her doctor's appointment.  Then on the way back we stopped at the Bernina Sewing Machine Dealer's and she bought an adapter for her sewing machine.

Then we went back to Tin Lizzies for lunch and had a very good, but very spicy dish.  Certainly no supper was needed last night.  Neither of us were able to finish the serving but it wasn't appropriate to bring home.

Today I will just work on some routine items here in my office, read my Sunday School lesson and just enjoy and unhurried day.

Shirley, glad you have a good A/C in your motorized home.  I see you are still heavy on the accelerator.  HMMM, am I surprised?  I still chuckle at the mental image of you speeding up the mountain and getting a ticket.  Now I see you are streaking!  :)

JeanneP and other, on the subject of courtesy I don't remember finding anyone here who didn't say thanks when I held the door or elevator door for them.  I don't wear a hat but can always smile at the person and as appropriate make a brief comment.  Guess I was taught courtesy by my parents and think Pat and I passed it on to our two children.  Did you find out what the men were doing in the garden? Are residents allowed to work in the garden?  I know many folks love to garden if they are physically able.

Joan, always glad to read when you get an OK from your doctor appointments.

JaneS, my son says he always thanks veterans, if so identified, at his work and assures they get the 10% discount.  I bet the old gentleman will remember your kindness for a long time.  In addition to veterans, I try to say a word of thanks to police or firemen when I encounter them in line where it is appropriate to talk to them.  Sometimes their jobs seem quite unappreciated and now police are being attacked to the point some are afraid to do their assigned jobs or ordered to stand down and not do their jobs even when they want to do so.

Mary Ann, I don't even own a hat.  I do have a couple of caps and a winter cap but very seldom wear them.

Don, I did a test this morning in Edge and it did recognize the codes as I made my posting in Christian Photographers.  However, I ran into a problem with the ability to write a very long posting or to go back and make a correction on two words that I had typed as one and tried to separate.  It is back to using Chrome for me.

Don, I just went back and changed coding in Edge and it works as changed both the font and the color over what I had posted earlier this morning.  However, it was taking a very long time to load the pages and was very annoying.  The coding is within the software that Seniors and Friends runs on.

Jackie, glad you are getting the blue badge.  Like the others have mentioned I paid for the license plate sticker but there is no separate charge for a handicapped placard.  Since both Pat and I are considered permanently disabled the plates with the handicapped symbol work fine for us and we no longer have the placards.

June, as long as you only delete files that you have created so saved, such as email, you really can't hurt your computer since a restart refreshes the software and puts things right.  At least that is true with PCs.

Good morning everyone, well 10 did not take long to install, really about an hour. I figured I would let it instal and go to bed. But stayed up and checked things when it finished. One question for those who have it. How do I get the color changed for the background. I seem to get either black or white.  And boy the white is bright. I always had it a pale blue or light gray, this is hurting my eyes it is so bright. Will have a lot to check out but I am online and playing will come later.

CAROL  looks like we will all end up with 10 sooner or later.

JUNE  I do not know that much about computers. I had a tech so often when I had the last Dell and I watched what he did and asked a lot of questions. Then when my grandson came to fix something I messed up I watched and asked questions again. I also wrote down a lot of what I was told.

JOAN  will enjoy breakfast this morning. Glad I fixed the coffee pot last night. Doubt I could have done it this morning. I did chuckle with the Dog. I love Hands. So true. Will send it on. Thank you for today's goodies.

JACKIE  we take our hands for granted and never really think of what they still can do for us.

JANE  have a safe trip to your sister's. I know you will enjoy being with family there.

LLOYD  I woke to sunshine but now it is cloudy again. Might have showers this afternoon. Big air show at Quonset  (old navy base) today.  You would not get me in that crowd.

HAL  I could use another cup of coffee, are you sharing ?

JACKIE  maybe those workers do not work on week ends?

LARRY  I have not trie Edge yet. I am using Google chrome now.  Have not checked my email yet either. I tried changing the color  but where I find the button to pick it it is marked off and I cannot get it on.  That bright white sure hurts my eyes. The black is worse.

Now I will start checking thing out on this 10. Have a good day.

Gloria, oh yes they do, he spoke to us before leaving, we all had a chat, my opposite neighbour also came over as he said his home is due for its outside paintjob, he seemed quite interested in our workers after watching them at work, of course I vouched for them but, neighbour now has been told by R that this morning thay didn't turn up as they, he said he would.....
................................
Not long back from seamstress, she is fully booked up with prom dresses so will take a little longer, my appointment for collection is June 30th....I trust her experience, been in this for 20 odd years, her pricing for my three garments meets my maximum.....of course when I booked I never asked her her pricing's....Her work premises are at the back of her home, a very nice area she lives in...Ten roundabouts on the journey to her house, R just made one mistake, before doubling back, otherwise not a bad journey....and I always print out an AA route-planner, only this time I forgot to print out the reversal journey home, but R had no problems.....
...............................
Still no sign of Amy...oh, just double checked, I think she has been in.....

Good Morning Everyone,
from the cool, clear,  rocky coast of Maine.

Weather is mild here and looks to be
continuing as such,  in the near future.

Regarding manors in children.
Look to the mannors displayed by their
parents/care givers.

IMHO,  Children live what they  have
learned.  Be it their attitude,  core
beliefs,  and/or  behaviors.

Of course there are always exceptions
for children with mental disabilities.
But for the most part,  IMHO,  bad
behavior reaches right back to the
environment that they are brought
up in.

I have have four children and
6 grand children,  and have been
exposed to a lot of young people
and rarely,  if ever,  have I been
shown any blatant disrespect.

We have had a lot of disagreements,
we either work it out or agree to disagree.

When I am out walking around this
city, I normally experience a civilized
society,  usually moving a bit faster then me.
(giggle),  so I tend to keep to the right!

I do not go out at night,  after dark,
so the world might just be very different
then...   But I do live on the main
street of the city,  so I can observe
what's happening,  but I stay inside
with my doors locked.
(but it looks usually pretty peaceful
to me,  up here on the second floor)

Have a happy Saturday,
Everyone !

Sandy

Good Morning all, I am running late today. Good thing there is nothing on the docket till 2  p.m.

Bis, the story of "Hands" was beautiful, and so true. I have often looked at mine, and thought how intricate they are made and how agile the hand is. Only God could design such an instrument, and that is just one small part of the body ! Think of the rest of what we are and how we automatically work this instrument without giving it a second thought. Amazing !!

Jackie, you are so fortunate to have a man like R. in your life. My husband would never, ever, have agreed to drive miles out of the way in order for me to have a garment hemmed up. He would have said, "Why did you buy something that didn't fit in the first place. You know how to sew...hem it up yourself." And that's the honest to God truth. When I saw a garment I liked, his reply was, "Do you NEED it ?" But I respected him for what he was. The man I married, and the father of my children. And we were married for 62 years.

Time for me to go have breakfast. It will be lunch time before I know it.

Larry--I agree that many have manners, but some are absolutely crazy.  Last night Cristina Grimmie,  former "The Voice Performer" was giving a concert on stage at an Orlando venue.  Out of the blue she was gunned down by a male who didn't even know her.

Gloria--You'll be comfortable with Windows 10 in a jiffy.

Vanilla-Jackie--I sure hope those workmen didn't take off and don't intend returning.  Good you found a reliable seamstress.

Sandy--I've had a few people in the general sector who have no respect.  What I see in my family is respect--but then they wouldn't be disrespectful in front of me.

June--Yes, the hands are amazing.  Your Ed had his own MO.  Now wouldn't it be a boring world if we were all identical?

Joan, no money has passed hands yet....

Good afternoon everyone.

Sorry I didn't get time to check in this morning...I hit the floor a running. We were off to the city 66+miles away to pick up a gazebo......but when we got there it was gone :( I had asked the young man if he would put our name on it when I phoned last night and he said they couldn't but he doubted if it would sell.....famous last words.  The young man we were dealing with today phoned another Walmart in another city and they had some so off we went.We took the back roads and just HAD to go through the place where the chocolate factory is AND the quilt shop too!! Yes,I left $$ at both places. Jackie ,your very lucky to have that lady as a seamstress  she will do a good job for you. I send my quilts to a LA to be quilted . We  did get the gazebo and now have the fun of putting it up..oh joy  :2funny:

Better go tidy up and put away some of the things bought.....maybe I should taste test the chocolate first??? Will put some in the hidey hole for you all.......calorie free too!!!

Joan, thank you for breakfast.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Good morning from another cloudy, possibly raining Interior!

The only expected sunny day, Thursday the 16th, will be bracketed by cloudy with rain.

Yesterday we had very hot weather in the middle and a rainstorm in the early evening. I spent the hotter portion of the day with others, planting coneflowers in my small garden plot and weeding and watering the lawn, parkway and just general pickup. It was a very convivial group out on the lawns. We have volunteer pansies sprouting everywhere, even in the gravel back by the enclosed dog park.

Although the city and the hospital complex have garden plots available to folks, this is the first place I've lived at that has those and an enclosed dog park for residents. We have fiddlehead ferns growing along the exterior walls and rhubarb going crazy along one extended wall.

One planter I'm not sure about is too close to the outside sidewalk and has strawberries and blueberries planted. People walking along will love that instead of the residents! Our four lilac bushes from last year are doing well as are our raspberry bushes.

Farrah has found a new daytime den. Instead of sleeping under the bed or on top of the dirty clothes basket in the bedroom, she burrows under the couch blanket and naps there. and yes, I think she has given her trust and now feels she  at home.

I went out to do some errands this morning and drove right by a tent with local produce.  Of course, I had to stop and check it out.  It was a Mennonite family selling produce grown in their own garden and it was beautiful.  I bought carrots, green peppers, potatoes and onions.  Scratched all of that off my list for the grocery store.  It kind of looks like they are going to be there through the growing season.  There's a sign at the entrance saying "Local produce, Friday and Saturday".  I'll be there, too.  It's almost like having my own garden except without the hoeing and weeding.

Vanilla-Jackie--And I wouldn't give those unreliable workmen one penny until the job is completely finished.

Amy--So glad to find you were out early doing business, and nothing was wrong at your house.  I'll head to the "hidey hole" when I am done here.  Thanks.

Janie--Oh, how wonderful to be able to get all that fresh produce so close to home.

94 for us today.  I have not even been outdoors.  At the moment the A/C on car not working.
Thought it was the Freon but guess it is a wiring problem.  To hot to even bother to take the car. Closed Weekends anyway. I hate the A/C running in the house. Miss having the windows and doors open.  They were saying some rain but it has changed.

JoanFL.  You are right on the not paying before job done. About 4 months ago. I had one man offer to do a job for me. I did give him the money to go and get the material and did say he would be back in 30 min. or so.  It was a Friday. Never returned or call. Sat, Sunday.Monday and tuesday. As  much as I didn't like to call his Boss who I had known for 40 years asking about him (the man did not know that). He said give me about 30 min. The man was here in that time and did the job. Did it well. But his boss then fired him. I really didn't want to going it that but it does happen a lot to people. They skip out on the job. I never pay ahead but knew I was safe knowing who he working  for.

Was looking at the news and they are showing the 2 big swimming clubs in town. Places are packed. All those children running around. Hope they have sun tan cream on.

The clouds this morning turned into rain for a few hours. Wonder if those who attended the air show got drenched. They usually have great weather for it. I have spent most of the day checking out Windows 10. Finally nave IE showing up.

JUNE  we do things without ever thinking about how our bodies work but it is amazing. It is a lot different from the 7 I am so used to.

JOAN  have not tried PSP yet but when I finish here I will close down and hope to find a good movie to watch. Right now I hate it because so many different things to check. I think I will install Firefox tomorrow.

AMY  glad you got the gazebo after all that traveling. I will check out that chocolate, after the day sitting here trying to figure out 10 I think I need a piece or 2 or more right now.

PATRICIA  glad Farrah is feeling comfortable with you now.

JANE  cannot get produce any fresher than from a farm stand/tent.

JOAN  did not even open my door today. Now I will say goodnight and hope I do not have nightmares about computers and 10.

JANE - I really smiled when I read your comment RE shopping at the Mennonite shop.  When I lived in Maryland many years ago, we shopped at a similar shop in Baltimore and really enjoyed the fresh products AND the friendly folks who owned it.  I also recall that one of the men had a relative who lived in another area, but often brought an abundance of similar food to the place where we shopped.  Always knew that we would have really delicious food.

Lloyd, we have had a cloudy day, all day. our high was in the low 70's. I love it ! We did get just a trace of sprinkles this morning.

Nothing new here. I did go down for one program which was enjoyable. I will be going down for supper soon, then on to listen to The Ultimate Duo, a husband and wife. She plays piano and he the soft drums. A truly delightful couple. I won't be doing any dancing tonight,  but they do play a few sing-alongs, where we all join in.

Gloria, I hope you sleep well tonight dear. I am proud of the way you handle your computer...good going girl !!

Molly, this family's farm is just a couple of miles from where I live.  And what they had at the stand was beautiful.  They also had an array of home baked goodies...lots of small pies that would be the perfect size for one old lady living alone.  And the green peppers were a few cents less than the ones in the grocery store but twice as big and less wrinkled.  I'll definitely be going there again.

And now I'm off to Dreamland.  Good Night Everyfriend.  Sleep peacefully and wake refreshed to a good tomorrow.  God Bless Us Every One!

Janie, How I wish we had some of your good small farm veggies out here. When I first moved to Hemet we did have a Saturday shopping in a city parking lot, but the fresh veggies and fruit did not look all that great. There was one booth that had scrumptious home baked bread, but a lot of the stuff was from Mexico, and nothing I could use. They were there to make money, not to appeal to the customers taste for good fresh stuff.

What an enjoyable evening we had. First a good supper of lazagna, green veggies, icream sundaes, and coffee. (they make the tastiest coffee here), then on to enjoy the Ultimate Duo. She is from the Philipines. Has been playing piano since she was four years of age. Does not use music...it is all in her mind her heart and she can play anything asked for. Her husband is much younger that she, but it seems to be a true love affair. He has a strong singing voice, and has had two strokes in his mid years. He told me the stroke came from stem cell at the base of his skull. Sounds really scary to me, but he sings beautifully.

Now I am home. Had a chocolate cookie and a half glass of milk, so it is time to get ready for bed. Have a good, good night dear ones, and a happy tomorrow. I send you Prayers where needed, Hugs and Love. June
