Gloria

Good morning everyone, another frigid one. I would like it if it were at least above 32° for a low.

JANE  like your post about ou and the snow blower. Like you I thought all the fresh snow was beautiful. Just glad I no longer drive every day going to work on those roads. I don't even have to go out if I do not want to but most days I do go out for at least a short walk in the fresh air.

SANDY  we have a good maintenance man for this building and he keeps the walks around this building clear  and spreads ice melt se we can walk on a surface as god as can be. The parking lot is snow and ice free also. This town does a good job of clearing the roads, too.Better than in the cities.

LARRY  I thought of Art Linkletter when I first watched Little Big Shots. I was never lucky enough to go to one of the bashes. Everyone always had a great time at them. There are some I would love to have met from the old SN.

JOY  we have more snow in the forecast for Saturday night into Sunday. Really do not need or want anymore this year. Like you I think we're all waiting for any word about Joan. We all miss her.

HAL  I think Mother Nature was sleeping most of the winter and woke grumpy so is sending us this snow and bitter cold now that spring is almost here. Next time I see the pain doctor I hope I remember to ask him about a brace. I had asked the doctor I used to have about it and he just looked at me and said nothing. On Monday the day before the storm got here I was in agony with my back but once the snow got here it felt better. I had heard that arthritis was a great forecaster.

GLORIA de  the rain we had at the end of the snowfall was just enough to make thing icy here.  Not much chance of anything melting with this cold. Hope your leg has stopped bleeding.

CAROL  glad you liked something I posted. I do get some funny emails at times.

JENNY  thanks for the latest update on Joan. I am glad you have FB and Joe is posting there.

JUNE  hope you are starting to feel a bit better and breathing easier. Take it easy and pry you get back to being active again.

AMY  the shore line got the worse of the wind. Hard to believe that turbine survived hurricanes but tumbled with the blizzard winds. It looked like a monster broken in half on what they showed on TV.

Sandy

Good Morning Everyone from the bright and sunny,  snow covered,  rocky coast of Maine.

The big snow removal rigs came in the middle of the night and took away a lot of the driven snow.    Since it is a bright and sunny day today,  hopefully a lot of the snow should melt,  making the street clear again like they are at the beginning of Spring.

All is well here ... I will probably wait until tomorrow  before I venture out on my own...Although I could go out today because under foot it is not slippery ..

I am wishing everyone a good day and do hope that
Joan is feeling better today .

Hi everyone.  We finally got down to 32 degrees last night and the mid-50's will be out high today.  We did get to Costco yesterday and did a lot of restocking of the refrigerator.  The meal at church last night was tasty and then we had a nice visit with Scott and Jennifer.

This is coffee day with the men and I will drop off at the cafe the man I pick up on Thursday and go on to the hospital to have routine blood drawn.  My doctor's appointment was moved up from next Wednesday to tomorrow morning so must get the blood work done today.  After I return the man to his retirement home I will stop at Walmart to pick up prescriptions for Pat and get a couple of vegetable items we need although may make a very brief stop at Aldi's.

We don't have the Wisdom Group at the Church this morning as the minister has once again been called away for a meeting.  I am looking forward to watching a lot of college basketball as the game start today a little before 1 pm.

Joy, I have a good friend that lives in Gaithersburg, Maryland and he texted me yesterday about getting down to 3º but not as much snow as expected in his area either.  I fear the freeze we had last night will have harmed the flowering trees and will impact the peach crop.

Hal, I prefer the medium salsa as the mild is pretty bland.

deAngel, sure sorry to hear of your new wound as know it is something you sure don't need.

Jenny, thanks for sharing the update from Joe on his Mom.  So sorry that she needed to go back on the ventilator.

June, sure glad you got that recliner back a year or so ago.  I hope today finds you feeling better.

Amy, I will share the fat quarter's funny with her.  You quilters sure have some interesting names for your fabric like the jelly roll.

Gloria, I was only able to attend the Atlanta Bash but followed with interest the pictures and postings about the many other get together's that the SN folks had.

Good Morning Everyone~

Just got back from bible study and a snack with my men's group.

Grey day out, not cold, but suppose to clear up and sun shine this afternoon.
Got to take my care in to get an estimate today.  Dread it, red tape and what not.

Everyone have a great day.

Joy

Well, I see it is now afternoon, so can't say "good morning" anymore.

Larry, Gaithersburg is  southwest of me..........closer to DC.  It is a nice area.  I think our whole state got a lot less snow than was predicted.  Lots of sleet and ice kept the amount of snowfall down a lot.  It is now up to 32 Âº ..........but the wind is still blowing hard.

I am glad it is a little warmer, as I have to go out this afternoon to get my taxes done.  I won't tarry outside too long. LOL

Gloria, I think they are calling for a little bit more snow/rain this week end here, also.   I have 2 grandchildren who live outside of Hartford, Ct. and they got quite a bit of snow.  My grand daughter just moved up there from Myrtle Beach  in the fall, but she is loving the snow.  She is looking forward to being able to ski, but not until next winter.  She just had a baby girl,  so she is kind of busy right now.  She lived in Maryland for the first half of her life, so she knows about snow and cold.   Her brother had married a girl from Connecticut and moved up there, and he encouraged Martina to move there, also.  They are all happy to be close again.

I am sure hoping that Joan is getting a lot of rest and soon will be off the ventilator.  I am sure she didn't expect that she was a lot sicker than she thought she was.  So glad she is getting good care.

June, I sure hope you are doing better today.

Hope everyone else is doing ok and will have a nice afternoon.

Joy

June Drabek

Joy, like you, I must say Good Afternoon also. My morning disappeared with nothing really happening, other that 3 separate visitors bearing medications, two ladies to enquire about breakfast, then lunch. I did order breakfast for the first time. Prune juice, orange juice, coffee, one fried egg,two slices of bacon, and a huge raised doughnut. I am passing on lunch..I have plenty to eat in my fridge and cupboard. I will snack on fruit, etc.

Hal, I am answering message from last to first today. You started your day nicely with
Bible study. I take it the back brace is working out O.K. with you…no complaints yet.

Larry, yes ! This recliner is a needed item at this time. It helps me raise to a seated position, and sleeps safely through the night.

Sandy, I envy you your Window to the World. You see not only out, but up and beyond as well. I look out on a garden, surrounded by more apts. and more gardens, plus walkways for those that like to stroll around. I miss the view of the Mts. that I had where I lived in Hemet, but we can't have it all……

Gloria, I'm so glad you do get outside for a daily walk…even a short walk is better than none. I am still house-bound, and tired of my own company, but it was my own carelessness that laid me low.

Gloria de, you are in my prayers that your leg is on the way to being healed. I do think you should have it checked out by your doctor though. At our age, self treatment is pretty foolish. l'm learning the hard way.

Amy, thank you for you kind thoughts, and it is a delight to think of Golden Girl out romping in the snow.

Hi, Junee dear. I pray all is going well down under. It is always a treat to see your posts come up.

Phyllis, I thank you for your kind prayers. I am certainly in the right place at the right time. My son must have known this old girl was going to need more gentle care when he brought me here. They are allowing me to use my own judgement about not being sent to a hospital. If I were bleeding to death or some other very serious problem, by law I must be taken as a life saving event. But after all is mended I am allowed to come back here to our special Care Facility.

Lloyd, I feel each one of us wants to do our best to keep things running while our Bis is out there doing her best to get well.  Each and every person here is essential, we lean on one another, and as a loving family group, we await the return of our "Leader". Please keep healing my Bis. I love you and miss you.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Jeanne Lee

I'll check into some old files and see if I can find some graphics to hold us over until Joan gets back - and I'll see what I can dream up for breakfast.  But I have no idea where she finds the other information, so we'll have to wait for her to come back to catch up on that.

Denver

A good Thursday afternoon HELLO.

No news regarding our Joan today, however good positive thoughts and prayers continue for her.  I must say, it just doesn't feel right without her here, and we all just want her to be better and get back to her home and then to us.

Our time is growing to a close here in Austin.  It sure has been a wonderful visit.  I am really going to miss this doodle.  He is so loving and just keeps us so well entertained.

Yesterday was extra special doing something we have always talked about doing, and now we can scratch it off of our bucket list.  We had the famous Franklin Barbque.  It is a place where you have to go stand in line for hours to eat at.  Luckily they now allow a few orders a day to be picked up, and Brian managed to do that for us.  We then went to a park to eat and the weather was perfect.  Just a delightful day for us and their BBQ is so delicious.

JUNE, I am sorry your fall has messed you up so badly.  As always, you do not let anything get you down, and that is just one of your very special qualities that I love so much about you.  Feel stronger and stronger dear friend.

AMY, happy to read the golden girl continues to improve each day.

GLORIA de, I worry about you so much too.  Now this latest wound you have is just another concern for you.

JOY, I hope getting your taxes done went smoothly for you.

HAL, I do not navy you one bit having to deal with the car repair.  I am sorry.

LARRY, I am always happy to read that you and Pat enjoyed a visit with Scott and Jennifer.  I appreciate your kind words about my relaying the news from Joe, in Face Book.

GLORIA, I am always happy to share any news from Joe that I see on FB.  I sure hope the next post from him says our Bis is doing great and going home.

SHIRLEY, it is always good to see your posts.

Delays on end, so I am going to sigh off for now.

Have a great afternoon and evening, EVERYFRIEND.

JEANNE, I don't think any of expect for you to have to do much to fill in for JOAN.  It nice of you to think about it, but please do not stress yourself out.

June, the brace does seem to help.  It is not like some I have seen, this is a kinda abbreviated brace with a small backboard and Velcro fasteners in front  and two small adjusters you can adjust the tightness.

Jenny I took the car in today and they did the workup on it, in excess of 1200.00 and said it would take four days to repair.  But I cant take it in for repair until April 10th.
Worst than the government.  Hurry up and wait.  Interesting, I hadn't heard of the BBQ joint you spoke of, but then I haven't been to Austin for 10 years, except to pass through or a quick visit to my GDaughter when she was in college there, that is the one who took her final year (Masters) in France and is now married to a Frenchman and a permanent citizen of France.  But they had several good places just outside of Austin I have eaten at when I used to go to Austin quite often.

JaneS

Hal, I just got pictures of my daughter and granddaughter and her husband that were taken in SanAntonio.  My daughter is visiting them in Houston and they are "doing Texas for Cathy's birthday.  I think they might have been there yesterday.

I did my resting thing today and now I feel pretty good.  All that shoveling made me tired.  And my Epsom Salts bath last night took a lot of the "sore" out of my body.  SHIRLEY, are you listening?

Now the doggies are telling me it's time for supper so I guess I better indulge them.  Later gators!

Carol

Ditto to everything Jenny wrote.   ;D

June and Gloria de:  may you mend very quickly.

Joan:  We miss having you keep us in line.

One of my brothers drove from Washington with an RV pulling a truck and said he would NEVER do that again with all the snow and slick roads.  His wife will only stay in the RV so we all know they will never be on the road to visit in winter anymore.  Two more couples are coming today and tomorrow and I can't remember who wants to stay overnight so the trundle bed is ready.  We have been so weak and tired from some medical problems but everyone will understand.

June Drabek

Carol, I'm sorry to read you are having so many over night guests while you are not feeling well. I could never be as accommodating as you are.

Janie, I am so glad that you find an Epsom Salt bath really helps you. How I miss a nice hot bath, but those are among "My Memories". I would need a crane to get me out of the tub..

Hal, when we hear the words "back brace" it makes me think of the old days of great discomfort in using one. It sounds like yours has done wonders in improving comfort, and that makes me happy for you. Being able to move around and get things done,  we take so much for granted, till it is no longer possible. Don't push though Hal..the brace can do just so much.

Jenny, thank you for your kind words.  I am thankful I have the right to make choices for myself. And I choose to stay here in my "place", and accept the needed help, and yet remind myself to not give up. I find so much support here from all you dear good people.

Jeanne Lee, you are always there when we need you. God Bless you !! It may be well for each one of us to contribute what WE are doing for breakfast, rather than what we are always so generously given. I think anything you have in graphics, or pictures of the past would be a great contribution. And that is something you have a talent for.

Time for me to think about some supper. Not hungry at all but food is essential. I have some small, easy open cans of Bush's baked beans, and some apple sauce on hand and some boston cream pie that needs to be used or tossed, so I will go and load up a tray and watch the news.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Lloyd Hammond

Looking back I see I failed to "post" a post.... but then I promised not to talk for a week, didn't I?   :idiot2:

I bought a loaf of Texas (thick) bread & made the whole loaf into French toast this morning.  Lots of eggs in mine, plenty of sugar, milk & vanilla.....   Some in the hidey hole for everyone. It freezes nice, good with syrup or just heat in the toaster & melt butter... yummy.  I'd love bacon with mine but not eating meat on Friday during Lent.

Bedtime in Kansas.... warmer today & hear tell up to 80 on Sunday.   Sweet dreams to all and God Bless~

JaneS

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I was going to make breakfast this morning but I see Shirley stayed up late and beat me to it.  I'll take my piece of French toast with real maple syrup and my coffee and I'll sit over here quietly and eat while I wait to see who comes by.

BOY!  This French toast is GOOD!  You better hurry before I eat it all!

Amy

Good morning everyone.
Lol Jane ,not a chance the smell of the French toast woke me up and I too will have it like your only with tea please.

I am off to the city with my friend today, I am dropping off quilt tops and picking up finished quilts to give away. In Jan,Feb we gave out 72 cancer quilts. That is just the tip of the iceberg as a lot of folks aren't aware of this program.

Will make this short and go get ready for the outside world...no jeans and a sweatshirt LOL

Shirley ,thank you for breakfast.

Jane, thank you for saving me some . :smitten:

Enjoy your day everyone.

I'll grab some French Toast from the hidey hole.  Thanks, Shirley, for making it for us and thanks, Amy, for reminding me to go get some.  My good neighbor brought over some Irish Soda Bread and some Biltmore jam.  That will be my breakfast but French toast will taste good for lunch.

I had an appointment with the cardiologist yesterday so didn't make it to the grocery store.  I guess today will be "that" day to hunt and gather.  <sigh>

Hi everyone on another sunny but chilly morning. Happy St. Patrick's Day.  My family line for the Hanna name comes for a man who migrated from Ireland.  I have a doctor's appointment this morning and then plan on watching a lot of the basketball games, as I did yesterday.  That will be my exciting day.

As I need to leave for my appointment shortly I quickly read through all of the posting and decided you all could live another day without my chattering on with comments.  However, no promises about tomorrow.

JaneS

Don't worry, Lloyd.  That one's for whenever....Not for now.

Gloria

Good morning everyone. Slept late this morning. Nothing much going on around here for St. Patrick's day.  A bit warmer, in the low 20's and cloudy. Snow in the forecast for late tomorrow.

LARRY  RI had 2 college teams playing last night. One lost but I did not hear about the other one. They were still playing when I shut the TV off. I always enjoyed seeing all the bash pictures and seeing everyone having a great time. The one that got to me was the one in Banf (?) western Canada with all the beautiful scenery.

JUNE  you have a better view than I do from my windows, I see the parking lot.

JEANNE LEE  will see if I have any chuckles saved to post. I have posted a couple of emails I got.

JENNY  I agree, something is missing here and it is JOAN. No one could ever take her place.

HAL  your brace sounds different from any I have seen.

JANE  glad the Epsom Salts bath helped soothe your muscles.

CAROL  cannot  blamy your brother for not wanting to drive an RV pulling anything on snowy roads. Not a nice time for you to have guests when you and your husband are not felling well.

LLOYD  you still work too hard.

SHIRLEY  you better not shut uip for a week or we will be sending out the bloodhounds looking for you.

PHYLLIS  great graphic.

Gloria, I had not seen that St Patrick's Day card, but I guess if I don't send the card to anyone, I'm not going to see it.  I played it twice.

Amy and Jane, I liked the Irish blessings.  I had not heard or seen the one from Amy, but I did know about Jane's.  And then there is the one "please give me the courage" etc.

Anyway, Happy St Patrick's Day to everyone, especially Joan, who I hope is on the mend.
