Domestic Goddess: Is this correct, if one would like to post/share a recipe, we do so here?  If so, was searching to see if there were separate recipe categories?

Hal, I'm happy to hear you are in contact with an old friend from working days. After serious surgery, I feel we are bound to expect serious complications as we mend. I'm sorry your friend fell getting into his car. He may have learned it is time for him to quit driving ??

I am arriving in mid morning again. I do keep busy once out of the bed, but though I woke early, I chose to doze off and on till 6:30, and then starts the routine of medicating, praying, etc. and I got more involved in my new Bible Gary gave me. Still haven't done the leg exercises. But here we are.

Gloria, my rollator belonged to my husband and he has been gone 11 years now and I have been using it for I would guess six or seven years, almost constantly, but it has done a lot of turning while dancing with me. I think both of us will be retiring from that. I am just SO delighted that you have a doctor that is a good doctor now. It means so much to be able to trust one who should know us well.

Larry, your joy in your laptop gives me more incentive to make myself learn mine well as I did with my first Apple computer.Thank you. And Cheers for Pat as she continues to heal.

Just had a very pleasant half hour talking with my oldest son Dan. He is still decorating the last banjo he made…very fine work, and he loves it.

So I will get this posted now and get ready to go down for the noon meal, and a walk then home again.
till later, June
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Amy and Joan, not being a seamstress, I didn't think about the fabric cutter.  Still grinning over thinking you were planning to cut your hubby's hair with a rotary cutter.  ( I know - I have a skewed sense of humor   :crazy2:)

Jane,  I didn't say I was starting to MAKE the candy - just planning to get the ingredients....and let them set there until my conscience nags me enough to start.

I am being roundly scolded by three squirrels because, after I caught them shinnying up to the suet feeder, I greased the pole with petroleum jelly.  Sooorrrrrrryyyy  (NOT! )

It's such a lovely day that I've been inspired to plant the bulbs I've had in the fridge for about a month.  I'm putting them in the big planters in the back yard.  Attention, Squirrels:   I'm burying chicken wire over the bulbs so you can't dig them up.  Na Na na na Na.

Hal,  I am keeping an eye on the OU/Baylor game - but it looks as if OU is doing fine without me.

Back outdoors I go to enjoy the cool sunshine while it lasts.

Behave yourselves.  (  I heard that "we will if you will"!!!!!!   )

Janie--Glad your breakfast was so good and that you got to see Kiran.  That really is a good deal.  Oh my--your talking about candy makes my mouth water.

Amy--I imagine that since your husband is still recovering he tires easily.

June--Did you already get a laptop?

Callie--Funny about your thinking Amy was going to cut her husband's hair with that rotary cutter.:)   Squirrels are BIG pests.

Angel.

Now I have had a Bread Machine for years. Not use it for awhile but think I will get it out again for the winter.
Now when we were over in Seniornet. We had a group forum that were using Bread Machines. Was fun then as we would pass bread recipes around and try different ones each week. Talk about how we could make different ones.  I don't see any of the old group in here now.  The Blarney Bread was always my favourite.
Now we have a place called "Goodwill" down here where people always give things, not using, to them.  Always seeing Bread Machines in there for $10. or less.  People bought them, use them a few times and then give away.. I have a habit of doing that myself. I give a lot of things. Also buy once in awhile. My Iron stopped working and as I don't use one often didn't want t spend $29.95 for a new one. Found one there just like mine. like new. Cost $2

Callie--Thanks.  I'll check the hidey hole next week for cookies.

JeanneP--We have Goodwill here, too.

Bis, no laptop yet, Gary is shopping for one for me. He is on my checking account, and he also has power of attorney, so I am carefree.
He even writes out all the Birthday and Anniversary checks for me and they include it with the cards they send. I am so well care for, the Queen of England would envy me. But I wont tell her, I don't want her sinning.

JeanneP, I no longer iron. some things I probably should iron, but people will have to take what they see. My face has deeper wrinkles than my clothing.

Callie, I am so glad you have a garden to plant things. I miss that. But when I sold my home, that was the end of my gardening..enjoy yours as long as you can. I had a neighbor that had trouble getting down on his knees to plant, and he put wheels on a small wooden box, so he could sit and plant.
As long as we are here, let's dance.

Jeanne thanks but I've decided not to buy a bread machine. Because I've become convinced it would become part of  what my Mom called, part of the third kitchen.

I replaced my iron last year but have yet to take it out of its box!

Yesterday's chili and cornbread feed went over well. I understood that all of the vets in the senior homes in Anchorage and Fairbanks voted on the evening's menu and chili won out over hamburgers, hot dogs or pizzas. You had the choice between coffee or generic brand soda and the vets did all the arrangements for the meal. It was a typical guy's meal.

OK, Callie, I guess I started "thinking" about the Christmas candy before you did because I bought some of the stuff a while back and then some of it yesterday.  Today I spread about half of the crackers and made the center filling for the PB cups.  If all goes well tomorrow, I'll make the coconut and the mint centers.  Then I can start rolling while I watch Christmas movies on TV and listen to the music.

But first, I have to make pies for Thanksgiving and I have to concentrate on that because my pie crust is very good...sometimes!  I'm just not consistent but I copied someone's recipe on the "WHAT'S FOR DINNER" board and I'm going to try it.  If it doesn't work, I have someone else to blame....Sorry whoever it was that posted that recipe!  But that's how the chips fall.   :smitten: :2funny:

Patricia, I think chili and beans are truly a Fall dish..like soup, and I recall when I lived at Sunwest Village we would honor our Vets with a chili dinner, and our entertainment lady would serve it in metal cans and a choice of coffee or beer…we could serve beer there…but not here. I did so much back then, but here at Rowntree I am happily at peace and acting my almost 92 years. It's great !!!!!!

Janie, I used to use the Crisco recipe for pie crust. Sometimes it was excellent, other times it was no so great. I really think it is all in the handling of the dough, and very few humans can do things exactly the same way twice..altho my mother said that her mother had the "feel" for the dough..pies, biscuits and bread…all of them. I have retired from all cooking…only what someone else makes and I can heat in the microwave.

I am ready for bed and book too, but first have to brush the teeth and wash the face, and take the meds, etc. God Bless you all and bring you safely through the night. I love you MUCH. June  :smitten:

Callie, well......OU trounced Baylor, but OSU won but it was no gimmie.
But a bet is a bet, and this one I don't mind paying off.... :-*   :-*

Bed time for this old man, nite, nite, God Bless and Sweet Dreams.
