Mary Ann...
...thank you for replying, still unsure what is happening and as to whether this is happening to anyone else but, i will stick to posting in only the secures, i will not post in the rooms that are showing as not secure...
*******************************************************
Last week i ordered an emollient soap bar and an emollient body lotion-cream and had used the cream on my legs from the ankles up, told this yesterday to the visiting medic and he has arranged with my GP and local to the surgeries chemist to have delivered a prescription cream to use in place of the cream i have been using this past week...The chemist usually has a delivering driver but again only comes to our remote parkhome once a week on a certain day, and at times they are even short on having a home delivery driver bringing prescriptions to the homes...they know i am trapped here and with my MS and cant get to the surgery or chemist... few weeks ago i had put in for my 3 months supply of BP tablets and had to wait 10 or so days as the chemists computer had packed up and everyone else who was expecting their home deliveries of medications were also having to phone the GP surgery where they were sent in again i was told... I had to phone both the GP surgery and the chemist on a couple of occasions after i still hadn't received them on the one special day i was told i would have received them, they had to be chased up...i had almost run out of my BP's...Our prescription dates tell us when they were last prescribed, when they are next due, and when we can next put in for them..

When we are fit, healthy and young we dont think of old age, disability and illness do we, it is a long way away but, oh, how quickly we reach it...it sneaks up when we least expect it, and no amount of any large lottery win will change that...Ok, well maybe we can afford ourselves top notch care...but doubt it will still change the outcome...what will be will be, will always be..

Mary Ann

Jackie, I hope you get  your meds soon.  i must have the best health program in the world because my prescription meds are mailed to me and Tom has only to go across the road to get them.  The others are at the pharmacy, about 2 miles away.

Neither Tom nor I are "with it" today and I see he did not go to Bible study this morning but I do hear him stirring.  I will get dressed about 10 am.

I'll either go back to bed or I'll compute but I don't hurt any place.  It just takes me time to wake up.

Good morning MaryAnn and Jackie - It's 7:20 here, and I'm up and waiting for the coffee to finish and the sun to appear over the East foothills.  it's supposed to be around 70 degrees here today, and the air is dry, and the ground is dry, and the reservoirs and percolation ponds are almost dry.  No rain here since December.  Not a drop. The fire season will come early, and will be a bad one, according to reports.  Between that and the Coronavirus, the news for California is not good.

Mary Ann - I hope both you and Tom will be feeling better as the day moves along.  I'm looking forward to hearing about the two of you feeling well enough to go out for meals at your favorite restaurants.  I like reading about what each of you had for lunch or dinner.

Jackie - S&F is not looking normal for me either?  I don't have the problem you have, but some of the things I click on to get around, are not working - or working, but not correctly.  Some of the things I click on, to get around the site, are not working.  It sounds like you're feeling better this morning??  The Penicillin's are still the best to get rid of any sort of bacterial infection. You're fortunate that you can still take them with no adverse reactions.  Many of us have built up allergic reactions to them.

Now enjoying my coffee, so will read the paper, eat some breakfast, and return later.

Mary Ann...

...it was yesterdays medic first responder man who put in the order for my over the counter leg cream prescription after he had spoken from my home to my GP back in the surgery, so if all goes to plan i should be receiving it soon, well here's hoping so, in the meantime not sure if i can continue with the emollient cream i had bought and had started using if it doesn't come soon...I just remember he didn't say anything neither positive nor negative when i told him this was what i was using...He did tell me the antibiotic - Penicillin tablets both he and my GP have agreed prescribed for me would take a couple of days before it kicks in...of course he had asked me if i am allergic to penicillin, told him not sure...I do remember back in my 20's having a penicillin injection in my backside and the nurse had to revive me as i was passing out in the room with the wooden chair behind me, and she had to go get me a glass of water whilst she was fanning me...I just remember the fluid seemed to be going in my backside thickly with a heavy feeling, of course this was also in the heat of a summer..

Marilyne...
....everything is working normal for me and is looking to me as normal apart from my security bar at the top when i go into some of our rooms, some are showing as " not secure.." other rooms are as they should be..

"Lake Michigan's 'Ice Volcanoes' Are Extremely Cool, Definitely Not Volcanoes."

"Recently, on a stretch of Lake Michigan's coastline about 35 miles from Grand Rapids, so-called "ice volcanoes" seemed to erupt again and again. The vaguely conical mounds of snow and ice, soaring at least 10 or 15 feet tall, and stretching tens of feet wide, flanked the shore of a place called Oval Beach."

Good Afternoon Everyone !

I got up earlier this morning and
caught the bus for my Hannafords
Grocery Store,  to pick up a few
things...

I thought that I dressed for the
weather but it was a lot colder
and windier that I planned on.

But I survived, even though
I got chilled by the unexpected
change in temps.

I sure do hope though that
the upcoming virus turns out
to be less problematic
then people are expecting.

Unfortunately with news going
on 12/24/7 everybody is talking
about it and qlarms bells are
going off.. on top of the
fact that we no longer
can trust our government to
keep up safe and/or well
informed.

I wish that i could just turn
everything off news wise,  but
i  just can not seem to be
able to ignore it.

Look.  Even I  am talking about
it too much.

Peace,  Everyone
love  Sandy

The Oval Beach at Grand Haven is what you see when you click on the link at the bottom of any of my posts.  I look at it every day and I have not seen enough snow on the lake to have produced those "tornadoes" so far.  Not to say they have not happened because they have and I've never seen any pictures, let alone the real thing.  Another thing that shows up along the shore are big round pieces of ice, similar to curling balls.  I've never seen any of them, either, but I have seen pictures.

Both Tom and I have spent much time in bed today.  He can navigate because he can drive, but he doesn't get out often.  He did not have Bible study this morning and one other member of the group also was ill.  I think if Tom would stay in bed a full day or two, he would heal faster, but there is always something that draws him away (or someone).

Annie came to visit on the way to her mother's where she can do some work for her company.  I don't know what she brought Tom, but she brought me a Frostee so I got out a P3 of chicken, cheese and peanuts to go along with it and it is the most solid food I've had since I've been home.  It may not be very nourishing, but everything is good for me.

Annie recently went to the Dominican Republic for a week; I don't know if she went with someone or alone and I think she was able to work there.  She also has been to Denver and Miami.  She will be back in Grand Rapids to help open a new building; I don't know where she will stay but not with us (no room) and not with Chris (SO).  I think her headquarters will be Tulsa and she will eventually have an apartment.  She discovered a Sprouts there and bought some things to eat and use and she is happy with the store.  Tom thinks Tulsa has nothing to offer, but he has never been there before.

I haven't heard any new news this week so I'll watch Washington Week to see what went on.  If the news is all Trump, I turn it off.

Maybe my snacks today will give me a bit more energy.  As long as I just sit, I feel OK and my body is not tired, but if I get up to go from Point A to Point B, I'm tired by the time I get there.  I have previously run on one speed - not fast, not slow - but this is ridiculous.  If the P3 snack helps, I have more in the refrigerator crisper.

It is cold here, too, Sandy. 27 at the moment.  I can't see the flag so I don't know where wind might be coming from.  The Frostee tastes good even in cold weather.

Jean, I am doing well and feeling good - as long as I don't go anywhere!  I don't like it but that is the way the cookie crumbles.

Jackie, if you are allergic to Penicillin, I think it is permanent, but I'm not sure.  Your medical person can tell you.  I tested a few years ago and was OK with it.  At last you seem to be getting attention, which is what you have needed all along.  I hope it keeps up.

Marilyn, I feel bad that you don't get rain when other places get so much.  We have had a very light year as far as snow is concerned.  I'll see if I can find how much we've had so far this year; what we've had would not help your reservoirs.

I took up a lot of space this afternoon but I wanted to mention Annie's visit and the fact I had had something decent to eat so now we'll see how it sits in my stomach.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

Mary Ann - If Tom just doesn't feel strong enough to brave a trip to the grocery store, you can ask him to call in an order and they will deliver the food right to your kitchen.  The small markets don't have this service, but all the larger stores like Safeway, offer it here.  You do have to pay extra for delivery.  I hate to think of you having to scrounge around for something to eat, when you both need some nice nourishing food.

I didn't realize that Annie, was going to be traveling for the company she's working for. That will be fun for her, to see so many different cities in the US.  Both our son and dil do a lot of travel for the tech companies they work for.  Brad flies to Seattle, and Austin, Texas, a couple of times a month. Yes, our lack of rain situation is serious, but nothing to be done about it, except to try to conserve water, and hope that we may get some in March or April.  We rarely do, but this year is different, so we may?

Patricia - I saw that article and photos of the Ice Volcanoes, on the TV weather news about a month ago.  They didn't give an exact location, but I thought it sounded like they were near Grand Haven.

Hi to Jean, MarsGal, and Sandy.  I hope we hear from Beverly, Jenny and Joy today?

Mary Ann

Marilyn, we belong to a service where we can put down our choices on the computer, Tom will let the store know when he wants to pick up the order, they call him when it is ready and he drives to pick it up.  Store employees put the order in the car and he drives home wit with the order and puts it away.  We pay a  yearly fee.  I think he will be up to that.  We just have to place the order.  Meijer will deliver for a fee and a tip to the driver.  We are in between both stores but do not subscribe to the Meijer service.

The article on ice tornadoes carried a date of Feb 25, a few days ago.  I don't believe the date and time coincide because as I wrote, we have not had that much snow.  It makes a good story, however.

How can one tiny swipe of something make ones post disappear so quickly?  Gurrr!

Bob went to the PT yesterday and they were surprised that he was so bad after the first session.  He was better during the day then again this morning he was dizzy as always.  As the day progressed he did better and better. Therapist told him if he got worse they would fit him in on Monday as his next appointment is not until Wednesday.

MARY ANN, I did not realize Annie would be traveling in her job, but I think it is wonderful.  Holding good thoughts that you and Tom continue to feel better each day.

MARILYNE, I saw on the news tonight that there are fires again in CA.  I sure hope you get some rain soon as it has been a long dry spell. Friends are posting pictures from Cali of many plants blooming and it sure looks good to me❣️

JACKIE, I do hope that penicillin kicks in soon and you start to see some improvement.  I do hope your delivery will show up soon so you have the cream to use.

SANDY, the weather here has been deceiving also....looks much warmer out than it is and the wind that we have way too much of has a real bite to it.  Tomorrow is to be the nice day of the week and the late Sunday afternoon the snow comes again!

Pleasant dreams to all,

Jenny

Mary Ann - All...
... yes " attention" at last, have to admit i was quite surprised seeing a medic walking towards me when one of the 3 workmen told me one had just driven on site and saw it was me he was coming to see...for that first split second i thought i was going to be taken to hospital...i think my delivery of the cream might not come till the middle - end of next week if i am lucky..In hindsight i am just glad i did phone my GP and not ignored my legs - leg any longer as i am aware it is - can be fatal, plus it never even dawned on me that perhaps infection had set in..My lower right leg, heel, sides of my ankle, over the foot is looking very red and feeling hot at the moment, got another 10 hours before the medication starts doing its work...
I am also struggling writing using my right hand due to MS Paresthesia - Anesthesia...it is a daily occurrence but at times is worse than at other times when using the computer mouse, a mild numbness pins and needles sensation, the hand also feels like it has lost its skin coating...Had this since the starting of my PP-MS  which is now coming up to its 5th year of being diagnosed at the age of 64...

MarsGal

Mary Ann I would love to have a view like that from my window.

Regarding the flu bug, I have only had flu three times in my life, the last being in my late thirties when I went back to college. It was a fast spreader and everyone who got it (and there were lots) complained about how long it was taking to get back up to speed. Even when we were over the flu proper, the residual tiredness effect lasted about a month afterwords.

Jackie
, maybe once you get out of there and back to "civilization" you could look into getting some voice activated reader/writer software for your computer. You would have to train the software to your voice. They are getting pretty good. Dragon Speak is the only one I can think of right now and it comes in a package for professionals as well as lower priced packages.

Jackie, it may seem slow, but it does look as if things are looking up for you.  I certainly hope so.  Thank goodness you did mention your leg to your doctor.

Jenny, I've lost a few posts myself without knowing how, they were there and poof! they were gone.  Usually about something I was trying to explain.

Tom and Robin have befriended a young woman who has had trouble with the law - and not the first time.  Tom has just left to pick her up to take her home.  I've met her and she is a nice person (is pleasant a better word?) but my feeling is that whatever she did, she will do again.  I'm not as forgiving as either Tom or Robin.

Jenny, I hope Bob can overcome his dizziness as I'm sure it is difficult to maneuver from one place to another, and it could affect his  driving.

Marilyn, I am not sure Annie felt she would be traveling much either, but I had an idea she would be training others about this shipping they are doing.  Her method made a bit of money for her former SO.  It has been interesting listening to her tell about her travels an what she has been doing; she has become very articulate in plaining  things, something I never mastered.  It is nice she can work from home because this weekend she is at her mother's up north.

I suggested to Tom that we both take it easy in order to regain some of our strength.  He is off picking  up Nyra, but said he is going to rest as much as possible.  Saturday is the day I bathe and shampoo but  I will do both of those when he returns.  I do feel a bit better today and I think Tom does too.  I suggested two days but I think he will feel better before I do.  I've been trying to cough up some phlegm and finally managed to get it out but there is more; I can feel it.

Just listening to our 24 our BBC news channel and another 3 new UK Coronavirus cases today have come to light, this brings our total to 23...One is in Hertfordshire, my daughter lives in Hertfordshire, i am originally from Hertfordshire before moving to our neighbouring county Bedfordshire, these are the two counties i am wanting to get back nearer to....One of the three is from Surrey and they are saying he has not flown back from anywhere, he has not been abroad recently... so they are now frantically trying to find who he has recently been in contact with...

Marilyne

Jackie - The same thing is happening here in Northern California.  New Cases of Coronavirus, are popping up, and these poor souls were not in contact with anyone who was sick, nor have they been to China, or any Asian country.  So it does not look good for those of us living in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Hard to explain what a large Chinese/Asian community we have living here in this area.  It's the Silicon Valley high tech companies that draw them here for the high paying jobs, but they also own and run most of the small neighborhood businesses like restaurants, laundromats, bakeries. etc.    On my street of 14 houses, 5 of them are owned by Chinese families.  They travel back and forth to China a lot, for holidays, and to see family.  It's a dilemma right now, but it eventually will subside I hope.

Mary Ann - That is nice of Tom and Robin, to try to help Nyra.  Is she a member of their church, or someone that Robin works with at the hospital?  I just hope that things work out eventually, for the young woman.  I agree that you and Tom both need to take it easy for a while yet.  Sounds like Tom is pushing it a little, and needs to slow down - but I'm sure he has lots of obligations, and things that he wants to do.  I'm hoping your weather will warm up a little, so that neither of you will be vulnerable to catching anything.  They say, (whoever "They" are), that older people like us, no longer catch as many colds and flu type illnesses as we did when we were younger.  Supposedly, we have had, or come in contact with,  just about every virus and bacteria type illness over our lifetime, and have built up an immunity to most of them.  Knocking on wood, here! :-\  Of course that wouldn't apply to the current Coronavirus, which is a new one.

angelface555

Good mid-morning from the Interior. We are in waiting mode for next week when I see the doctor. Otherwise nothing is new here, it hasn't changed all week. Dora stopped by and gave me a haircut and some gossip. Other than that its been quiet.

12 Coronavirus myths busted by science

"Myth: Face masks can protect you from the virus

Standard surgical masks cannot protect you from SARS-CoV-2, as they are not designed to block out viral particles and do not lay flush to the face, Live Science previously reported. That said, surgical masks can help prevent infected people from spreading the virus further by blocking any respiratory droplets that could be expelled from their mouths.

Within health care facilities, special respirators called "N95 respirators" have been shown to greatly reduce the spread of the virus among medical staff. People require training to properly fit N95 respirators around their noses, cheeks and chins to ensure that no air can sneak around the edges of the mask; and wearers must also learn to check the equipment for damage after each use."

I don't think many companies will be letting  their people do much air traveling for awhile. My Granddaughter Husband travels once a Month to London and to Singapore. Both the main branches of his company are there. He is not flying anyplace. I wouldn't ether. My family with their 3 children are booked to go to Disney World in March. they go every year . I think they should cancel this out. Eldest daughter on plane ever month. she should also stop. I guess that we older people think a little different now than when young. Will not get me going out of the house  to go out of town until it settles down.

On to more plebian things.  I never come in here and post my daily agenda, but today!... Well, for some reason I had an energy attack this morning.  Stripped the bed, washed two loads (king sized sheets) and with other odds and ends, I started fading fast.  All this multi-tasking...(same thing as running around like a chicken with its head cut off).  I wrestled with putting that King sized bottom sheet back on, and boom, I was plumb tuckered out!  Decided I needed nourishment, and since we have a very nice family-style restaurant (not a chain) about one block from me, I phoned in an order.  They have a vegetable sampler, from which you can choose 5 veggies.  I got grilled veggies, carrots, green beans, broccoli/rice casserole and turnip greens. 2 pcs. cornbread. There is enough food there, after I finished, to feed me for another 2 or 3 days.  I'm so full, and so
tired. When I get that bed finished, I'm for a nap, or at least a "lie-down"!

Mary Ann

At present,I don't feel like going anywhere. Unfortunately I feel best while sitting in my own comfortable chair.  While I was in the hospital and Rehab, some people did wear masks, but only one who served me and whether for his protection or others I don't know.  It is cold here now, 22 degrees.  I have appointments all week - here - and those people will have met with others by the time they see me.

Kendrick does not go outside so is not exposed to illnesses.

Tomereader, I wish I had some of your energy, although I am not feeling tired these days.  Your mixed vegetables sound good.  I started off on some soup that tasted state and disposed of it and had Tom get a sandwich from Jimmy John's and I ate half with the other half in the refrigerator for tomorrow.

I decided to do a few of those backed up until later projects. I cleaned out my closet to the tune of 100 empty hangers. Then I went to my four 33 gallon bins and emptied one bin of heavy sweaters I haven't worn in years and one of slacks and blue jeans unworn as well. That leaves one of pajamas and one of belts, socks, slippers and random items such as dickies until another time.

Then I did the two large clear bins. They had been organized but were now just dump baskets.  I separated batteries from tools from metal and plastic hooks, rolls of packing tape, etc into separate bags and baskets and left the utility closet until tomorrow.

I called Claire and she stopped by and filled her car with all my donations. I'm lucky, she works for cookies, literally.  We no longer use the donations table because there is a hoarder in residence and he collects everything no matter what. Management has asked us to no longer use the donations table.

Hopefully, I'll sleep good tonight!

We are still in the minuses temperature wise but we're getting more and more light so we should be warming soon. Usually the snow is gone by Easter.

angelface555

Good morning from a very mild Interior where we are back in the pluses again! Today will be another day of purging, donating, and trashing! It seems as if I just did this. I want to finish the utilities and coat closet today and possibly my office area.

Monday will be shelves, three of them, and then hopefully open the door to that end of the hallway walk-in closet stuffed to both the gills and the door. That closet has been my repository of all things possible since 2013. It may take days.

Farrah is the same. I gave away the last of her toys to another friend, Clara, who just rescued a small black kitten. She is seven now and doesn't want to play anymore but craves just as much attention.

I opened and closed this discussion, and it's echoing in here! Where is everyone?

Mary Ann

Patricia, I've checked in a few times and there was nothing here so I did not stay.  I just posted a short piece in the SS but I'm headed for a nap.  I'll be back later.  There is nothing to report but I'll find something, believe me.

Mary Ann

Marilyne

I guess we were all waiting for someone else to be the first to post a message this morning? :D   Usually, there are a few messages here when I come in at around 7:00 AM, PST, because everyone else who posts here is a number of hours ahead of me. (Except for Patricia)

Anyway, just checking back in, and happy to see the we have heard from Mary Ann and Patricia.  I'm also trying to get the kitchen and bathrooms cleaned up and "sterilized" as best I can.  Even though no one has been here to spread any Coronavirus germs, I still feel like it's a good time for extra cleanser and some Clorox. ::)

I've been looking at my Apple News, and Google News off and on this morning - mostly for updates on the election.  Wow, the media seems to be doing a complete "about face", on their current favorite candidate.  It was Bloomberg last week, but now Biden, is once again, the candidate of choice.  Super Tuesday should be interesting.

The Coronavirus marches on!  California still way ahead in the number of cases . . . I've lost track as to how many here now.  Oh well, I try not to dwell on it, as there is not much we can do, except for the obvious recommendations of hand washing and staying away from crowds.  Now the CDC is saying not to bother with face masks, that they are a waste of money and do no good.  That's one thing we happen to have plenty of here at our house.  AJ bought a big box of them on Amazon, last Fall, because of the heavy smoke from the wildfires.

"Whatever will be, will be", is my new philosophy.  Remember that pop song by Doris Day?  "Que Sera, Sera - whatever will be, will be".

CallieOK

Happy March Oneth!

I had a restless night so had to "hustle my bustle" to "Get Me To The Church On Time (la la la  ;)

Temperature is climbing toward the 70's so I opened windows when I got home to air out the house.  Cedar pollen count must be up because windows were only open a few minutes before I started sneezing and eyes started watering.
Oh well, the positive thing about that is an excuse not to sweep the patio.

Marilyne,  I have to chuckle at the way the media switches attention from one candidate to the next.  Am beginning to believe we should limit time for campaigning before an election as some other countries do.

Patricia, I'm in awe of your cleaning out process!  My philosophy has been that a person always has enough stuff to fill all the cabinets and closets - plus need one more.

Jenny, Bob's continued dizziness is a big concern.  Hope the doctors can find a reason and do something about it.

Mary Ann, I didn't realize Annie would be doing so much traveling, either.  My granddaughters (ages 27 and 25) enjoy spending time with friends in Tulsa. Maybe the "things to do" for young people are in a suburb.

Jackie,  hope your meds are having a positive effect and that the medical folks will be keeping up with you.

Off to finish putting out some Easter decorations.

Wishing Everyfriend Everywhere an Enjoyable Day.

Callie, I last did this in 2016 and was so proud of myself and my industrious zeal, (Except for that down the hall walk-in!). That closet should have one of those dangers, hazardous to your health signs! Too bad, I never kept up with purging and went with storing!     :idiot2:

My apartment is a one-bedroom, 850 square feet, and has two walk-ins and two large closets, bedroom, and entry. Plus four sets of shelves. Unfortunately, I'm a collector.

Marilyne, CDC has said all along that those face masks are useless for anything viral. I'm behind everyone on here, it seems. There used to be a woman who lived in Anchorage in SeniorNet's early days, but she has long passed. A very odd fact  that I only recently realized is that my S&F bookmark lists as SeniorNet.

MaryAnn, Rome wasn't built in a day and to use even more cliches, rest, exercise, and eat healthily. My aunt in her late eighties suffered a heart attack and said it took three months before she felt back to semi-normal.

Patricia, your aunt's three-month goal to feel better is the first goal I've heard.  Monday will be one month since since I had the attack so it will be something to shoot for.  I do not have any aches and/or pains but also I have no energy.  All I want to do is sit at the computer and if I can do that another two months,I'll be happy.

I just called Dot to see what is going around here and she told me her neighbor has pancreatic cancer and has another two weeks to live.  Dot is a do-gooder who will visit the neighbor in the rest home she  will go to.  I don't know her age, but her husband is older than I am by a year or two and he cannot care for her.  Our complex originally had only older people; it wasn't designed that way, but I was one of the younger ones at 57.  We did have a couple  with a 12-year-old daughter, but now we do not have any children here which is a good thing because there is nothing here for youngsters.  No pool and no community building and no place for either one.  We do have a mix of ages.

Tom said Robin would be here tomorrow which is a good thing because I have some small jobs for her, things I should do but don't feel like doing.  I know Rome wasn't built in a day but I did want to know if I would ever feel better.  It seems I should.

I wrote two letters to daughters of friends just before my heart attack  and neither was mailed and I had printed them.  Last week, I wrote additional pages to explain why my January sheets were not mailed.  I want to print them tonight so Tom can mail  them tomorrow or the next day.  Not going for the mail is a handicap for me because Tom does not get there every day.  Those letters are my next projects.

I'll get back here tonight or tomorrow.
