Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Mary Ann, sounds as if Rehab is starting out well.  Love that the twins wanted to see you!

I suspect p.t. will keep you busy and you'll need to rest when you can.  Will look forward to reports as you move
Onward and Upward.

Lovingly,  CallieK

Mary Ann...
... just wanted to say before i go to bed ( 11.10 pm UK ) a welcome back to our fold...

Marilyne

Mary Ann - So nice to see your message here.   Sounds like you had a regular family reunion going on, what with a pizza party,  and everyone there to visit with you and encourage you.   You do have a wonderful caring family!  So,  Annie will be leaving today, for Tulsa.  I hope that she'll find happiness there, and that the job works out well for her.  Sounds like the perfect opportunity to start her new life.

FlaJean

Mary Ann, so good to see your post.  You'll be busy, but we'll be looking forward to hearing from you.  So nice that the twins wanted to see Aunt Mary Ann.

Annie has arrived in Tulsa and she will contact her dad and that is how I will hear about her.  I hope to remember to send her a message tonight before I really to go bed.

I did not know I wanted to go to bed at 7:30 but the TV here is different than what we have and there was nothing I wanted to watch.  It probably is a deal that commercial places get; the channel lineup is different.   So because I was lying on the bed with my eyes closed, an aide came to help me get ready for bed.  I went along with it, but an hour later got up and here I am.

Dinner tonight was lukewarm lasagna which was fairly good, over cooked vegetables and garlic bread which could be called that only because they used garlic butter on it.  Now, I am not a gourmet cook, but I do know about food that tastes good and I know I am not at a gourmet restaurant, but I think the cooks at places like this could take lessons.  Or course, their pay is not that  much, so maybe they're learning and some day they may be gourmet cooks, just not in my lifetime.

So far, I feel I am getting along fine but we'll know in due time.

Back over a year ago when I had to go to a rehab place,  I felt like I wouldn't have to be there that long, and I could make do for the length of time I had to be there.  Of course, the food in most of the places just isn't all that good, but it does seem to be sufficient.  And, of course, you can always get someone to bring you something special if you really feel  like eating something extra good.  Where I was, everyone got the same meal.....no choice. And, it was supposed to be low salt, but they even brought me packages of salt.  I just watched it the best I could.  But, I just figured I would make the best of my stay there and it sounds like you have the same kind of feelings. If you are cooperative, it makes it so much easier on the patient and the help really appreciate it.

it sounds like you are doing great !!!  Will keep sending quick healing thoughts  to you.  Maybe Dot will bring you a piece of cream pie tomorrow after church.  Now, I know that would be tasty.

Have a good night.

I came in here tonight and found not one, but two messages from Mary Ann! You really brightened my day.  :)  You have a good attitude so rehab should go well. I'd eat lasagna in any form. One of my favorite things. How nice you got to see Annie before she left for Tulsa and also those twins.

I felt pretty good today and even did some grocery shopping. My intestinal problems seem to be resolving themselves..........About time. This all started the first week in December.

Jean - Like you, I'm starting to look forward to Spring. The weather has been so dreary but the sun actually came out late this afternoon. My children up north have no sympathy for me.  :)

Callie - We have a Chicken Salad Chick here. It's a different sort of place but I like it.

Good night to all our Bait and Tackle friends!

MaryAnn, Glad to see your post.  Exercise and get well soon!:missyou:

Great to hear from you Mary Ann. Sounds like you are doing well at rehab. Best wishes to Annie in her new job and home. You are not missing much on the St. Clair. It seems the few ships still moving around are doing it mostly at night lately.

It looks like we will be having rain and freezing rain off and on for the next 10 days. Super! It looks like George's cats will miss a wet meal or two if the streets get a bit slippy. It takes a half hour each way to travel to and from his place. They always have dry food and water to last several days.

I got the laser pointer out the other day. Shan goes nuts over it and is quite verbal when I stop or if he wants to play. The little drone needs recharged. I might try it again today. The first time I had it out, He ran away (didn't like the buzzy noise). Oscar was the one who followed it around, and Lucy hasn't seen it yet.

Mary Ann, I'm so glad to hear from you today.  You sound upbeat and I hope all will continue to go well for you.  Thoughts and prayers from here in Auburn for a complete and speedy recovery.

I've had a busy day so far.  They woke me at 6:30 for pills and I was able to go back to sleep for a while.  Then I was brought breakfast which I ate some of, but not all.  There was enough confusion with people in and out until Tom got here.  We ate together in a dining room but I think Rehab is near the dementia area and they connect for dining.  Tom just left for whatever he is going to do.

Tom said Annie is homesick already.  Well the poor girl doesn't know anyone and family is not near.  He's going to connect with Sue (former wife) to see if they can coordinate a visit - Sue would be there for x number of days and Tom would be there either before or after Sue.

We talked about my future and how we can arrange things in my computer room.  We will make progress some way.  I have to think not only of convenience to me but also Tom and family for visits.

You're right, Joy, I am being as cooperative as I can be.  They're here to help me and I go along as much as I can.  I know I can't do a lot of things by myself and I let others help me with much.

The food I had today was as good as I've had so far.  It was meatloaf, broccoli and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy with apple pie for dessert.  My appetite is not that big and they always give me too much but I ate all of the broccoli, most of the meatloaf and a few bites of the potatoes, all of the insides of the pie.

MarsGal, it is a good time to be sick as far as the St Clair River is concerned.  I have not looked at it from here but I will try.  We have a laser mouse for Kendrick and the laser died.  We tried to change the battery but could not get into the mouse.  I lost my favorite screwdriver in the process!  So Kendrick does not chase the laser.

The Chicken Salad Chick place sounds good but I have not heard of any in our area.  I like Chicken Salad.

Our weather is very nice.  I think Tom said it is close to 50 degrees today.  The only part of the weather I can see is out the window and THE SUN IS SHINING!!!  Whoopee!

Now, I think I'll make a trip to the bathroom (with help), then lie down.

I will not be watching  the Superbowl game (no interest).

They just brought in water and another woman came in right after to get me some water!  I only need one container.

Until next time!

Great to see your postings MaryAnn. You sound like really coming along. They will be sending you home soon.
A good sign is when the patient starts noticing the bad food. Although today's sound good. They seem to know good recipes just not how to cook it.Why don't you have Tom bring some of the drinks in for you .lots of people drink them. We don't want you loosin weight.i use them when I miss fixing lunch. I use  to sneak  a beer in to my FIL years ago.
You did miss a sunny day today. 58 deg here . Goes down again tomorrow.
Are you in a private room. If so put your tv or lap top. Play nice music. No ball game for me. I don't understand American FB? Looks like wresling  to me.

Marilyne

Mary Ann - Great to see the newsy message from you.  :)  Sounds like the food is not bad at all.  I would love to have some meatloaf, with mashed potatoes and gravy!  In fact looks like there's lots more things of interest going on in your life right now, compared to mine.  Things are quiet and kind dismal around here  today.  I was planning to go to the store for something interesting to have for dinner, but I'm just not feeling up to it.  A cold North wind is blowing hard, and it looks too uncomfortable out there.

AJ will be watching the Super Bowl, and as I said yesterday, I'll have The Puppy Bowl playing on the bedroom TV.  That always puts me in a cheerful mood.  I have emails to answer and a good book that I'm reading, so
I'll have plenty of things to do to take up the four or so hours, that it now takes to play a football game.  ::)   Of course that includes commercials, half time, and lots of talk from enthusiastic sports commentators.  Seems to just go on and on endlessly - too long for me!

Sorry to hear that Annie, is feeling homesick, but it's understandable.  Suddenly she is alone, in a city and a house where she knows no-one.  Here's hoping that when she starts work tomorrow, she will meet her co-workers, and begin to making friends.  Good that Tom is planning to fly out to see her and give her some encouragement.

Time for lunch, so I will return later.

MaryAnn, it is so lovely to see these posts from you-you're missed!

Nothing is or has gone on here other than my head cold is still here. I'm living on OJ and Sudafed. Yesterday I had to cancel delivering the federal commodities box to my shut-in as he certainly doesn't need more germs. This caused the Salvation Army coordinator to stop by, and she said she'd pray for me altho I don't think my cold merits that distinction.

We had a fire alarm yesterday, and it sounded low and muted, so there are compensations. My head is totally stuffed.
I called the office about paying my rent, and when she came up to see me, she asked if I wanted to go to the hospital. Between that and the Salvation army's prayer offer, I must look terrible.   :buck2:

Typically everyone has to pay with a money order by the third of the month or risk a $35.00 late fee and a $50.00 late fee by the tenth, but since I'm always prompt, they allowed me to pay this one time with my card on their card reader.

My body does strange things at times like when I was sixty-six, I had step throat and that mutated into laryngitis.  But this latest cold has stolen any energy I might have had. The SA lady said her husband got sick every time he went anywhere but, he had lupus. I assured her I only had the basic head cold, but she did leave a care package on my door handle later that included a package of facemasks.

I just wrote a long message, hit my mouse on the chair arm to get the cursor in place and lost everything.  I'll let you know that I am doing fine so far and tomorrow I start on therapy to gain strength.

I am not going to try to reconstruct what I wrote before but maybe tomorrow I will remember some of it.  It was not important, anyway.  But I am getting along as good as can possible seeing where I am.

I did write that I am sorry for Patricia's cold and I know how she feels.  Oh, I love the Maxine cartoon. She is a favorite of mine.

Good morning.  A pretty sunny early morning. Supposed to be up in the 60's today. That will be a welcomed change.  Although I am sure it will not last real long. But, I will enjoy it while it lasts.

I do feel better this morning and look forward to getting my hair done today.  I missed last week and it sure does need it.  Nothing else much planned for today, except the normal everyday chores.

I did do some laundry yesterday and still need to put a few things away.  Still have more to catch up with, but that will be another day.  I did the most needed things yesterday.

I know Mary Ann will be kept quite busy today with the PT, but I am sure she will do well.  She is a strong lady and I don't think it will take too long for her to be able to go back home.  I know she has a lot of "Cheerleaders" in here.

Hope she and all the "Bait and Tackler's"  will have a pleasant day.

I second that, Jackie.

The sun has come up. I hope it stays cloudless for a while.

Mary Ann

I'm up but I'm not sure about atem.  Actually, I'm feeling as fine as I can in my situation.  I was asleep when the nurse came in to take blood and bp etc.  I knew she did them, but was not awake.  It wasn't long before she came back with pills.  I take as many pills at home at once but I am not sure I use as much water.  When I was finished, I was waterlogged.  I lay there a while, got my cane and walked to the recliner and sat and started to compute.  About that time they brought in my breakfast and for the first time here got my usual breakfast.  I was not finished with that when the therapist was ready to take me to shower.  The shower is the hanging type (Danish?) and it will take some getting used to.  They don't have you shower every day anyway.  I got through that and got dried off and dressed and I'm now back in my room.  I really am ready to lie down and I'll soon call for help to get there.  I have to send a message to Tom for things to bring for me.  Dot will be here Wednesday for lunch.

Joy, it's funny, but I have had no wonder at the weather.  Maybe it's because we have not had anything unusual except for the temperature (higher than usual) and flurries in the afternoon yesterday.  As far as I know, the ground is brown, or at least clear of snow.

I'll be back later this afternoon, after therapy if I can stagger!  The therapist this morning said the shower activities was part of therapy.

Mary Ann, it sounds like you have fit in well at your new temporary home.  I hope you'll be able to continue to improve and be able to go home ASAP.  I'm sending you a cyber Hug and good wishes for improvement.  Keep us posted.  Stick with the routine and hopefully you'll be out the door soon!

Marilyne

I woke up about 7:00 this morning - looked out the window at the neighbor's house behind me, and their black roof, is completely white - covered with frost. My backyard thermometer says 32, and  my Weather Underground ap, says the same.  I know that sounds like a warm day to you folks in the East, Midwest, and Alaska, but that's extreme cold here for us.  Only gets that cold when the sky is clear and cloudless.  So that means another bright sunny day, when we need rain so badly.  We'll have to set our sprinklers tonight, as the grass and landscaping plants are extremely dry.  No real rain since December.

Patricia - I hope your cold is better this morning, and you are on the mend.  Do you have a  humidifier for your bedroom, or any room?  I have one that I use in the Winter, but not sure if it really helps that much?

MaryAnn - Your messages last night and this morning sound like everything is moving along smoothly for you.  I'm trying to visualize your hanging shower?  I'll Google it later, and see what I can find.  I see showers in the newer homes on HGTV, that they call Rain Showers, that are on the top of the shower stall??     Anyway, sounds like you're feeling well, and ready to start your daily therapy.   Speaking of HGTV, that might be a good channel for you to watch to pass the time.  The shows like House Hunters and all the beach and mountain homes, are fun to watch.

Good morning to Joy, Jackie and MarsGal!   Be back later with more about my unexciting day.

Good Morning Everyone
from the milder rocky coast of
Maine.   Milder for February,
that is.

It is so unusual for us not to
have snow on the ground....but
of course there is still lots of
weeks left for us to get
bombarded with nasty weather.

Otherwise all is well
except the depressing news
which I am now ignoring.
Life can't always be what
I sign up for.

I am grateful for good health,
I will be seeing my chest specialist
on Wednesday  so we can get down
to what I believe is an Asthma problem
that has taken years to figure out.

Years and lots of tests that I
thankfully have past.

Have  a good week everyone..

MaryAnn ... sounds like you
are improving daily..  great!!

It sure is good to read your posts, Mary Ann.  Sounds like you are doing well.

we are having a few days of warmer weather.  Supposed to reach a high of 69° today.

We went over to Gigi's for awhile yesterday and Jeff was busy making a variety of snacks for the Super Bowl.  We left before the game started as neither of us cares for football.

Marilyne, I didn't watch the the doggie or cat bowls but instead a mystery on Hallmark's mystery movie channel.

Enjoyed reading all the posts and hope everyone has a great day.

angelface555

Good morning from the Interior where it's gone from minus 25 yesterday to plus four this morning. Farrah, is parked at my feet in case I plan to get her container of cat grass, and I'm not planning to yet.

Sandy, I'm with you! I wonder if this is how Germans felt in 1939?

I think one reason I look so bad is that my eyes weep all night and that secretion hardens during the day to rocks. Then I have to use muscle and vaseline to dislodge it and leave redden eyes.

I think the Maxine cartoon is referring to multiple evening pitstops. MaryAnn, you are pragmatic, and that is why I believe you will succeed. I'm so glad to see your posts again!

My issues with getting sick so much lately are annoying as I haven't done so in the past. And I'm missing out on a lot of invitations and socializing. I also sleep so much during the day that I have trouble at night — however, these fleeting issues and not more than an annoyance.

I'm just feeling a need to gripe, and it too shall pass. I should have just written the word gripe all in capitals and posted that.

angelface555

Mary Ann

Patricia, thank you for the daily Maxine cartoons.  She tells it like it is.

I had a little therapy this morning and I was happy with the results.  It involved pushing my feet onto pedals kind of like a bike and doing it for five minutes.  I did not feel winded when I was finished, but my thighs ached.  My thighs have not been used that much since I lead a very sedentary life.

I had a good meal this noon and a young woman came in later with a menu for the week so I can choose what I want from a selection.  The selections for the most part sound good.  Today I had a slice of ham with potatoes (forget what kind), green beans that I did not care for and chocolate cheesecake.  Oh, also a dinner roll.

When finished at 1 pm, I had them move me to a recliner and get me set to compute.  I no more than sat down  when Jan and her mother came and stayed maybe an hour, not too long but I could not compute.

At 2 pm I was able to get  here.  In the meantime my nurse brought my Tylenol (for the shoulder pain) and another woman came to see who is doing my laundry.  Occasionally, I have two or three people come in at the same time for different reasons.

Anyway, I am getting along fine - so far.

Sandy, I'm not sure but I think we don't have snow on the ground, either.  The sun is shining brightly and as you know, I say "any day the sun shines is good day".

Patricia, I hate to hear of the health problems you are having.  It's no fun, I know.  I seldom have a cold, more like allergies - and I have them!  I also have sinus drainage which makes me cough a lot.

Marilyn, 32 degrees is indeed low for your area.  32 degrees with the sun shining is a good day to me, at least right now.  I would not accept that in summer.  HGTV sounds good and I have not looked to see if it is available.  I'll keep it in mind.  I don't watch it much at home any more, but I used to watch it when I was on Boyne City two winters but it was a different version that I liked better.

Another interruption for a beverage of my choice - orange juice.

I think I'll quit while I'm ahead.

Mary Ann

Amy

Mary Ann, you are making good progress. Would it help for you to get one of those pedals to use at home?

Between company any therapy I would imagine   you could use a nap.

Take care...

George Gore, who I assume is the webcam moderator, came up on the Port Huron site to let us know that there is a Chesapeake live cam to watch. Bless his heart. I got to watch a big thermos bottle of a ship coming upstream at over 14knots. It was from India and come to relieve us of some of our Pennsylvania natural gas. The giant thermos bottle is to keep the gas cold on the trip. He said the ship holds enough to heat one million homes in winter for 10 days. There were two tugs and a pilot boat to see it upstream the last three miles.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oARESwe98_o  I would expect to see a fair amount of traffic on the Chesapeake, but nothing seems to be going on right now.

It is dinner time and my hubby is ready for some food.....so I will just share my post in SS with my good friends here in Norm's.

I just want to say that I am so happy to read about your progress MARY ANN.  YOU are doing so well, I bet you will be going home very soon.  Happy to read you are having visitors.  Just continue your positive attitude and feel stronger every day.  I am not surprised that Annie is feeling homesick.  I do hope she had a good first day of work.  She will settle in, but it will be nice if her mother and dad can get down to visit her in the near future.

We did go to Dave and Michele's to watch the Super Bowl.  Michele ordered finger food from a Mexican Restaurant near us.  We picked it up and spent a fun time together in their newly updated basement family area, which is very well done.

Michele will go early Wednesday morning for her PET Scan.  She and Dave will go to the oncologist on Friday Morning for the results.  We are ALL hoping for a miracle of a clear cancer screening report🙏🙏

Right now we are in the middle of a VERY bad snow storm.....it is very cold and it will continue to snow from now through tomorrow afternoon 😩😩.  Yesterday it was 71 degrees here!  UGH😘

PATRICIA, I am sorry your cold continues to be so miserable.  I do hope you will start to feel much better very soon.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.
