They can be cute, Beryl.  But they can also be terrible pests!   ;D

I am on the fourth floor so can look down on the new electrical poles and wires installed just this summer. It has taken five months to remove the old poles and underground utilities and reinstall new in my area, the back of the town center. Today, they are finishing up repaving the three streets just around my building.

I mention this because the squirrels are already back, dashing hither and yon along the electrical wires. It has been so wet during the past three summers and yet rarely any snow the past three winters that the squirrels were active year around.

I have lots of trees in my neighborhood and also WAY too many squirrels.  They come up on my deck to sit on the railing and eat nuts(acorns) and leave a mess for me to clean up.  I don't have time to run out there every time I see one and chase them off.  They are definitely a nuisance here.

Welcome to the Club Sue. In my case I have a Black Walnut tree that they enjoy.
They are up in the tree, shaking down nuts the size of tennis balls.
I think they enjoy mocking us by sitting outside the window on our deck and leaving
their mess right outside the patio door and on the railings, just to irritate. :tickedoff:

Wow, Beryl, no wonder you know so much about birds and insects!  You've had a long time to learn.   :2funny:   Actually, I think probably that was meant to be 9/76 (September 1976) in the profile.   ;)

Beryl, if you're 76 today, who is that lovely young woman in the photo?

I guess your big day is about over now, but I hope it's been a wonderful one.   :smitten:
