Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Sato, we have some bright colored leaves on our trees, but no beautiful red like ypu just posted.

Beautiful colors, Jack & Sato.  My daughter just called after driving half way across Kansas & the whole state of Missouri... said the trees were spectacular & "she kept taking pictures with her eyes" all the way.  I am so tempted to take a run through the southern part of both states but know this day & a few more like it, most of the leaves will be on the ground.  I have not checked weather to see what is ahead for the next week, but would be so nice to just "mosey" along.

MaryPage, what a beautiful photo of you and a handsome brother! And thank you Bubble for posting!

Good one with big, natural, smiles.

Thank you so much, Bubble, for posting this pic of MaryPage and her brother.  She looks so much younger than she says she going to be! I just love the way everyone here does these little kindnesses for each other.
Bubble, tell me what do you hear from Don?

Vanilla-Jackie

What a lovely photo of a happy brother and sister...I so remember Mary Pages postings, she painted a picture of where she was living as if one was standing along side of her also viewing the scenery...

Mary Ann

I love the picture of MaryPage and David.

Great photo, Mary Page..........and I'm trying to remember that years ago we had "Missouri connections", didn't we?  Where you grew up or family lived?  I love your jacket & agree that your brother is nice looking.  I think I know your age & it's hard to believe if I'm right... knock off 15-20 years would be closer to the numbers, you look super.  Thanks for posting, Bubble.

Sato...is this a stretch of water you have been on yourself...Is it a lake or a river? and as Patricia says, it looks very serene...

Sato

Vanilla, it is a lake or pond....   thank you.

Sato, I agree with Patricia - Serene is the word.

Mary Ann

Sato, I'd love to be sitting beside that pond and relax.  It is a beautiful scene.

Joy, I think MaryPage said the picture of her and her brother was taken in May outside her condo.

From MaryPage
She said she is almost 90. She certainly looks wonderful and much younger.

Please tell Shirley the jacket is an old Talbot's, and like all Talbot's garments, it just won't wear out.  Tell her I am a Virginian in every way, except that I live in Maryland now, but I do have a daughter who married a Missourian and moved out there.  She just retired from teaching tw0 years ago, lives in Kansas City, as does her grown daughter with 4 children.  She also has a daughter who works and lives in St. Louis, and has 2 children.  The one who lives in Kansas City is a radio announcer on KCUR.  Her oldest of the four is an architect.  The 2nd is a musician (classical, not pop, he plays the cello and composes) and the younger two are still in school

Thank you so much for posting the picture and the note from Mary Page.  We corresponded for a lot of years.  I've missed her.

Beautiful photo, Sato.  Both you and your wife are masters of photography.

Jackie, I often think of you and those beautiful dogs.  I know you must miss that love.  I know when I lost my poodle, I so missed her running to the door with her excited barks when I got home from work.  Now we just enjoy seeing our daughter’s two little doggies.

FlaJean...
...strange you should say that today, as it was yesterday, two years to the day I said goodbye to my Benji, yes I miss all three of my babies, Petra and Megan, they were my life...
...I have been doing some fond reminiscing of them this evening...shedding some tears through my laughter...

Just read where Amy lost her Golden Girl.  So hard to express how we feel.  It was just 50 degrees and I felt the need to take Mimi for a short walk.  Quiet at the park and overcast.

Only photo is my pit stop  :) at the lodge, Mimi was in the car or I would have sat a spell.

...was the " pit-stop " for the loo or for a quick beer... ;)
...doesn't the lodge allow dogs inside, shame Mimi had to be left in the car...

Lindancer

Jackie, I remember the sad days you had with Benji. I still miss my Great Dane, that we had for12 years, she is gone many years now. they are family. I am so sorry to hear

Jackie I had several beers earlier, so I was headed for the loo.    Not sure of pets being allowed on a leash but would never have her with me for the short visit  :)

Joy

MaryAnn,   After I wrote my comment about MaryPage's picture, I did read where Bubble wrote that it was a recent picture.  She sure looks great, along with her brother.  It is a shame that she is not up to coming back here.   Her vivid descriptions were really enjoyable to read.  She could paint a lovely picture with her words

Joy, you are so right about MaryPage's descriptions of places around her.

Beautiful photo, Sato, and think everyone is right about it being serene, just let the eyes wander around at so many different colors and "texture" of foliage.

Mary Page, must have been a time you went to visit your daughter.  Maybe in the days of Senior Net when we would hang out in the Missouri Discussion?  My daughter lives in St.Louis (Creve Coeur).  Kansas City is kind of home, we went to the city a lot when in high school & my oldest brother lived on the Plaza so I felt like I was going home when we moved to Leawood. I do like the older styles better than what I've see the last couple years.... & you are right, Talbots carry nice clothes.

Gorgeous room, Jack... can't get over all the Christmas decorations out already, but what few I put out this year will go up in a couple weeks, right after Thanksgiving.  If nobody plans to come by my house over the holidays, I've been known to take decorations down the day after Christmas.  Love those big ornaments, I had some nice ones to put outside & gave them all to my daughter after a couple years.  Our wind twists things around too bad, now I just hang about half a dozen strings of light from the porch light, with a big red ribbon at the top & silver & red garland streaming down behind the lights... plug in right near the floor of the porch so helps anchor down the whole thing.  I've waited to trim my holly bush so will have plenty of greenery to play with, the leaves are so pretty this year, shiny & dark.... shame the berries came on too early.
