When it comes the the stores such as Walmarts etc. then the Gov.now has left it up to the Store Mgr. to handle the Mask Problem, Now Police are Not to get called or involved. I just wear mine regardless . not going to say anything to anyone. To many fights around this town. Fact to many gun shooting now. Robbery on the Parking lots and homes also.
Sad one last night early. Women driving with her 4 year old child in back seat. Was a gun there and child picked up and shot her mother in the head. She died crashing the car. Child seems to be going to make it O.K. But what a thing for her to live with later.  People will just argue about anything at the moment . Going on so long. I am 5ft 2. Small frame and My SIL who was 30 years with the Sheriff Dept. Says. I don't need a gun. Was just kidding him anyway. I do know how to use one since being young but I just prefer to keep to a quiet life. Outskirts of city.

I didn't realize the The Stars and Stripes was still going. How I loved that little paper. So funny in parts. Why would Trump want to stick his nose in that . That is up to the Vets.

Shirley, even though the grocery store is straight down the street a mile away, I have the same problem walking through the store and it's getting worse now that it's so hard to do that sort of thing.
I decided to try Shipt because, at the time, they were offering Free delivery for new customers. Now, there's a $10.00 delivery charge but it's worth it for me because of my walking difficulties.

On the Shipt website - you type in your zip code and a list of stores they "service" comes up.  There are others besides grocery stores.
I suspect the quality of the service could differ according to the location.

My morning started much earlier and was busier than my usual routine.  #2 son and I decided to have a "standing dinner date" on the evenings his wife gets her nails done after work.  He brought dinner the first time.  Tonight is my turn.

Hope we can continue this because he's a landscape design and current projects have kept him super busy.  Seems that a lot of folks who have to stay home decided to put in pools and outdoor kitchens.
This was another reason I decided to try the grocery ordering.  He'd been getting them for me and I knew it was cutting into his time.

Had to laugh when I asked for a "large bottle" of Listerine and he brought two - each of which contained 1 quart and 1 pint. That meant I had 3/4 gallon of Listerine!!!!!  Could barely lift the bottle and still haven't finished the first one.  Bless his heart.  :smitten: '

Hope Everyfriend has had an Enjoyable Day.

Joy

Callie, I, too have been using the Shipt delivery service, from our grocery chain, Weis !  But, the didn't offer a monthly fee........I had to pay $99 for the year.  I would prefer the monthly fee.  I  am pleased with the delivery.  They will bring it right up to my apartment.  That is great for me, as my probably is walking, also.  So, it works good for me.  I was afraid, at first, with all the restrictions, now, that they wouldn't be able to come into my building, but delivery people are allowed in.  And, they bring it up and sit it on my kitchen counter. They have all been very nice, usually young people.

In my area, Shipt delivers for Target , also.

Masks are required at all Walmart's in California.  They are also required at Target, grocery stores, Costco, Home Depot and pharmacies. That's about all that's open here.  Signs posted at the doors.  I think people are cooperating, because California is one of the Hot Spots, with a constantly rising number of cases.  No schools opening, that I've heard of?

We've had a cold front move in from the coast the past couple of days, so it's been cool and windy . . . but I notice the wind has finally died down, and the temp is already at 80 and climbing.

Guess I'll go in and watch, "Meet Me in St. Louis", on TCM . . .  followed by "What's Up Doc?" and then "Auntie Mame".  No I won't watch all three in a row, but will record two. :D  I've been watching a lot of the wonderful old musicals or comedies lately.  Makes for pleasant watching . . . much more so than CNN!

Hi Joy!  I see you posted right before me.  We haven't seen you for a while here in B&T, so please return.  :)

Its not often i can say this but i had a very lovely and memorable day, a day i shall never forget...Visited old friends and old haunts of 20 years ago..came across one or two pleasant surprises, 140 plus miles away..( 3 motorways.)...Today was just perfect, also emotional, but did it perk me up..yes 100%...Made me realise what i had been missing..

Posting late again.  Not much to say.  The weather has been much cooler the past two days so we have been able to get a few tasks done.

JACKIE, your post is delightful......sounds like you decided to take a trip "home" to see what you have been missing?  I hope you might have found a answer to what you would like to do when your home sells.

MARILYNE, we all certainly thought that we would be on our way to a more normal life by now, rather than headed in the other direction again!

CALLIE, I have heard similar stories about people ended up with large amounts of something that was delivered to them from the grocery shopper!  At least listerine should not go bad.

JEAN, I am sad to think The Stars and Stripes Newspaper may come to a end.  It was so appreciated during our time spent overseas in the military.  I guess it is fighting the same issues the hometown newspapers are facing.  Many prefer to read the news on line.

I hope you all have a good night of rest.

Jenny, it was my son who brought the listerine!  We've had some good laughs about it.  :smitten:
My Shipt shoppers have been great.

After I read about the Stars and stripe .I read it so many years ago. Today brought it up on Computer. still a good paper. Wonder why they are thinking of stopping printing it. Looks like it would be popular more now with lots of young men being sent overseas again. Keep them close to home.

Marilyne

shirleyn -  I hope you look in tomorrow morning, (Friday), because I just remembered that I never answered your question about the World War II documentaries that I mentioned the other day. Sorry :-[
The series that we've been watching, is on Netflix.  One is called,  WWII in Color, and is narrated by Americans, and covers both the Pacific and Europe. The other is,  WWII in Colour.  And is narrated by the British.  It also covers both Pacific and Europe.  There are ten episodes in each series, each being about 45 minutes long.

If you don't have Netflix, they have some similar series on Amazon Prime.  Go to Prime, and scroll down to Documentaries.  Then you will see lots of different programs on the War years.  I haven't seen those, but they look to be  pretty much the same as the ones on Netflix.    I hope you can find some that Danny will like.  Let me know.

Good Afternoon from a still hot and humid central Oklahoma,

I did a few errands this morning and was so 'excited" to stock up on hand sanitizer and other protective products at Walgreens.  They were in a special display at the end of one aisle - easy to walk by and I would have missed it if I hadn't been headed down the aisle toward it.

Have been watching web cams this afternoon.  Marilyne, you're the one who got me onto the Charlevoix Canal cam.  Have you ever clicked on the Charlevoix Bridge cam in the list to the side of the canal cam?

The bridge is just to the right of the canal cam view and is a drawbridge.  It's been fun to follow a boat (particularly a yacht size or sailboat with tall masts) from the lake to the area past the bridge.  Kind of like following a boat into the Duluth Harbor past that bridge.

I put a piece of round steak in my 1 1/2 quart slow cooker right after lunch.  Was supposed to coat it with flour/seasonings but I used dry brown gravy mix.  surely is smelling good in here.

Rosalind Russell was a much better "Auntie Mame" than Lucille Ball, IMO.    Loved "Meet Me In St. Louis" and all those old musicals.  I know we're all supposed to be overly impressed with "Hamilton" but a musical done in Rap just isn't the same.  Neither are the ones meant to "send a (social) message".

Okay - off your soapbox, Callie. :noway: Go sit in the corner 'til you can behave.

Marilyne

Callie - No wonder I've never heard any of the music from Hamilton  . . .  there isn't any! ha ha  ::)  Seriously, I didn't know it was a rap "musical"!  Son and dil went up to San Francisco, to see it last Fall, and when I asked Brad how he liked it, his response was, "It was okay".  :-\  Being as AJ is a musician, he despises rap music, so I'm sure I could never convince him watch it on TV, much less see a live performance.

I recorded Auntie Mame,  yesterday off of TCM, but haven't watched it yet.  I saw it way back in time, but don't remember much.  I like Rosalind Russell, so would probably enjoy seeing her again.  She did a great job as Natalie Wood's aggressive "stage mother", in Gypsy.  It's playing Monday, on TCM, if anyone  is interested in watching or recording.

MarsGal

Yesterday morning I checked out a webcam for Spring Creek Ranch WY. Imagine my surprise to see, almost at the edge of my screen, Comet Neowise. I couldn't duplicate it this morning. There were some low clouds in the way. I tried looking for it at the St. Clair river webcams, but no luck.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LRXLf1cBZs This one is new to me this morning. It is live. I don't know where the camera is that is picking this up so I don't know how long the comet will be in sight.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yh1_wHdUx3Y look carefully at about 3:05 minutes and you can just begin to see the comet tail rising out of the brightening portion of the sky. This is a lovely sequence.

CallieOK

MarsGal,  that is an amazing video!  Thank you for sharing.

Hi Marilyne,   Thanks for missing me.  I do stop by now and then.  Just don't get on the computer as much as I used to.

Nothing much to talk about.  I don't go anywhere and hardly talk to anyone anymore.  I have stayed pretty close to home, except for an appointment last week.  I get my groceries delivered, so don't go out for them, anymore.

All this mess is really getting to me.  Seems like things keeps getting worse.  Most of my family have been staying in also.  I have not seen any of my grandchildren since right around Christmas.

I will try to get around more often, but I am doing ok.

Good to hear from you, Joy, and know you are doing OK.

We are having a typical hot summer day, but it feels good here in the house with the AC.

We haven't heard from Beverly lately.  I hope everything is well with you and all others who haven't posted lately.

Time goes by quickly even 'tho I don't seem to do much besides reading and worrying.

Have a good day everyone!.

GOOD MORNING 🦋

IT is going to be a HOT one here again today.  My late mothers side of the family is getting together in a park today and we really would like to have gone but the numbers are rising here and we are trying to be extra careful again.  It will be much too hot to be out also, so sadly I do not think we will attend. Sure would like to see them all 🥵 😷

Mark and Megan came by with the boy yesterday.  We sat outside on the deck for a bit under the umbrella, but finally had to get inside to the A/C.  Megan went to spend time with a friend so Mark stayed and chatted while Jonah took his nap🥰🥰 That little guy is so cute....chatting a lot more now and is a lot of fun to be with🥰🥰 Daddy is going out of town for a job interview tomorrow😩 HAPPY for him about a prospective job but can't help but be sad it is not in Colorado😘

Seems everyone is keeping busy in spite of the heat that most of you are having🙀

Take care and enjoy your day.

Joy - I think we are all getting depressed and sad, over the never-ending problems in our country.  This virus is really taking a toll on everyone - even those who don't catch it.   I know it's harder for you being alone, than it is for some of us who have our husbands or children for  companionship.   My youngest daughter lives alone, and is becoming discouraged and hopeless.  All we can do is to keep hanging in there, and hoping and praying that things will soon begin to get better.

Jenny - How nice that you got a long visit with your son yesterday, as well as spending quality time with Jonah!    I hope Mark gets a job in a nearby state, so you won't be as far away from them as you were when they lived in California.    Also thinking about your Dad and Diane, and hoping they are staying well, during this difficult time?

Jean - I'm glad you live in the Florida Panhandle, as I have heard that the Southern part of the state has an ongoing problem with Covid-19, and that it's getting worse.   Same thing here in California . . .  The Southern part of the state is in a dire situation.  We're in bad shape up here too, but not nearly as many cases.   Like you said, I feel like time is moving so quickly.  I thought the days would drag, but instead, they are coming and going in a blink of an eye.  We are now more than half way through the month of July!

Hello to Beverly, shirleyn, Jackie, JeanneP, Callie and MarsGal.   Hope we hear from all of you today.

Good Evening from the hot and
getting humid rocky coast of Maine...

What is going  on Rammel?
What is making you decide to
leave us here??

What I remeember most about
Senior Net is that they dropped
us all like a lead balloon,
with no warning...  Leaving so
many folks with no place
to go at that time...

Seniors and Friends is came on
board to rescue many and they
have done a good job,  IMHO...

I think a lot of people are not
posting because of the effects of
having a major epidemic around the
world and how that is affecting
all of us who need to stay
isolated much of the time.

I am wishing that everyone
could be feeling better and
more like chatting.. (me included)

Rammel, I liked the old Senior Net but I only posted in forums having to do with photos/cameras, etc., so I don't know what you mean.  I'm not much of a "talker" so I really enjoyed the photography forums.  I really don't know how the present S&F is different than Senior Net except that there are so few people left.  For me it isn't fun anymore although I have met some really nice people over the years.

Rick - Please don't leave us!  Lots of angry rhetoric going on,  but I think many of us are tired, depressed and afraid for the future.   Everything seem to be in chaos in the country right now.  Things will settle down eventually, I hope.  In the meantime, let's all be courteous to one another, and try not to get into blame and shame politics!

...oh no you are not giving up on us, are you, we will soon have no males left to post on our forum...our forum is all females...we desperately need to see a welcome mans face posting...please dont give up on us - our forum..We already lost our Jack WV, we all wish he would return with his photos of Mimi and Oglebay, but sadly he is adamant he shan't return to our forum....I think you and Lloyd Hammond are the only " regular " two men standing..after we all lost out dear friend Larry Hanna..
Sato and Don ( Radioman ) pops in occasionally yet rarely posts, just wish they would stay and post more..

FlaJean...
... true, we were once very active, with so many now passed members, this forum once was so lively, fun, interesting and thriving with our daily activities, etc, we even had our own " card team, i was one of them. "  We had so many laughs, especially over in Soda Shoppe when we dusted our old bus out to use to collect our members from all corners of our globe..So many fond memories of members gone by, our Joan FL was one of the best...always loyal starting our week off and apologising if she was late...( of course we always told her " no apologies needed " ) bless her heart...
So sad seeing this forum just a shell of what once it had been..

Marilyne...
...thank you for saying a " hello " to me...

****************************************************************************

I have not posted much lately as 1) my MS body has gotten a lot worse, attacking the nervous system inside my body, that i have been crying out because i cant control my body, 2) i am in the process of making a very risky - gamble ( not only my opinion ) decision that may or may not pay off, ( my home has no buyer yet, ) and 3) this decision is keeping me so very busy organising this and that before it takes place...This will go either way, it maybe the daftest or sensible'st  decision i have ever made or the best or worst decision i have ever made, my safety, company and my happiness is my number one...This will be taking place within the next few weeks..I have so much to get my head around...It is certainly going to hit me in the pocket, but i cant take this isolation and loneliness anymore, not in my worsening state, and i am not just referring to our C-Virus situation, as if that is not bad enough..

Why must everything good come to an end, ( in this world it is " survival of the fittest," ) reflecting back to the best years of our lives....nothing stays good forever, does it...guess, same can be said for the bad...
Problem is, when we are living our best, we dont see it as our best, not until it has GONE...Same can be said for our dwindling members S & F's forum...

MarsGal

Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes! I am so excited. I got to see the Neowise Comet again this morning, both on the Marine City Cam and the Spring Creek Ranch (near Jackson Hole, WY) this morning. I spent about an hour watching mostly the Spring Creek cam. It is grainy, but the B/W night view makes it easier to spot the comet. Oh, to be in Wyoming now. What a spectacular view those folks have. Too bad that the Marine City cam swings about that early in the morning and that the low cloud layer most mornings obscures the comet.

Jackie, sorry to hear that you are not doing so well again. I hope things improve soon.

Rammel, ???????? When I first joined, it was on SeniorNet. I mostly was in the book discussions. SeniorLearn is also suffering. The group is so reduced in number now that it is hard to get a discussion going on any one book that is of interest to most. The conversations are reduced mostly to general chit-chat, brief comments on books, and gushing over various movies and TV programs. I have yet to find another book group with which I am comfortable.

... i am starting to come to terms that we were lead to these forums past and present at the right time, when they were good, fresh, and thriving - in their prime...both our present Seniors and Friends and the Old Senior Net ( sadly a forum i was not aware of at the time until our S & F's was set up a year before i found it and joined as a member some 10 - 11 years ago, ) by then you had all flocked over the year before, all thanks to our dear forum founder Pat Scott Halbach for setting this forum up, i am assuming at short notice..

I have heard nothing but good about the old Senior Net and how it was missed...

Beverly

Good (late) morning from Florida! Yes, I am still around. Like some of you, this isolation also has me feeling down and depressed some of the time.  Fortunately I've had a lot going on at times to keep life more interesting.

Our son, Michael was here for a week and Donna will be closing on her house soon.

I'll be back later to write more. I have missed you all! Thanks to Jean, Marilyn and others who have asked about me.

Sandy

Bev,  Good to see you.

Ii hear so much about covid in Florida.
My brother and his wife are
snow birders  and they just got
back from Florida the 1st week in July!!

I hope that you are doing ok and
managing to stay away from
people and that  everyone's
wearing their masks and washing
their hands...

It sure is a mess,  even here
in Maine where we have very
low amounts of covid....

Of course, it will get us in
the long run...
Sadly, it is going to be  a
very long  long lonely
Winter...

I hope that you and your
hubby are doing fine.

Beverly, good to hear that you are doing OK.  I think it is wonderful that you will have family there at least part of the year.

Thank goodness for technology.  My oldest daughter lives in B.C. Canada. and she calls regularly on Facetime.  The border between US and Canada is still closed and will probably remain closed until the pandemic is over or not so bad.

It is another hot summer day here and I am sure thankful for AC.  Have a good day everyone.

Joy

I just want to say "Hello"

I still don't have anything new to talk about.   But, I really don't want to lose touch with the good friends here.   You all were so good to me when I was away with my broken hip...... writing me messages as to "where I was and not posting"  It did make me feel very much a part of "our little family".  I just don't do much, so that means I have no new "news" to talk about.

Rick, I agree with all the others......Please do not run away from us.  We do miss everyone who no longer join in here.

It is very hot in the Central Atlantic region, and I am just enjoying my A/C.  I slept in a little bit, so need to get dressed.  I do plan on sitting out later in the day when it cools down.  I have some mail to take down so it goes out early tomorrow.

This virus mess is affecting a lot of us, I think.  There are times when I really get so jittery and nervous......  just over nothing.  Takes me a while to calm down.  I hate it when it happens at night.  But,  I don't see an ending for quite sometime. I don't think life will ever be back to where we remember as "normal".  It will have a lasting effect on a lot of situations.  Ok !!!  Of my soapbox !!!1  LOL

Have a good rest of the afternoon.

Now in a way I can see why  S and F is not keeping you interested anymore. You are about the only man left in it. Nothing much to keep your interest. I know that technology is one main thing that keeps your interest. Not that much is mentioned anymore. Years ago we were all learners. You and a few other men really helped so much. Most have been gone for awhile
Surprises me though that you said S AndF. getting like SeniorNet. and that is why you are leaving. Now I think lots of us really missed Seniornet. It was  good forum. But maybe it would have just gone down like most all forums. Very few left now.  Same with lots of things. I really miss the EMail system but mostly it has gone. Now all is going to Texting which I hate. No conversation. Same with phones. Soon now Television will be gone the way we see it. Now Streaming is the thing. Comcast I believe is on its way to changing the whole systems. So myself. I am tired of all Technology And cannot learn W10 at all.  Have lost the people that were a good help to me and So, other that getting a newer IPad soon then my Desktop will go.
The fun of having a computer for me has gone. Now soon they will be made into just a learning and buying thing. Doubt that Schools, Universities.Colleges  Will ever be the same. Will all become a choice. Do it on line or pay lots more to study with face to face faculty.  This Pandemic has changed the world . Time will tell.
We have all enjoyed having you with us...

A Good Sunday HELLO to ALL.

MARILYNE, I think a lot of folks are extremely effected by this pandemic and what it has and is doing to our country.  I sure know that I am.  I feel sad for those that are alone and have few if anyone to communicate with.  Like you, I have my hubby and can talk and occasionally see my family. I feel so melancholy and find myself with tears falling at the drop of a hat.  I love music and listen all the time, but feel quite emotional.  I can not help myself to worry about all the sadness that is going on.  People are so unhappy and are so easily bothered about so many things.  The destruction is something that I can hardly bare to see.  I want so badly to be back in the times after 911 when there was so much patriotism.  So much love for our country....every one pulling together 🦋  Sadly, Mark will be returning to CA if he takes this job, and it is in SoCal where the numbers are some of the worst🤪🤪😩😩

I enjoyed ALL of the nice posts, and I apologize for not responding to each one of you, but I must go and I hope everyone enjoys the rest of your Sunday.
