Good morning.
.
We did get a light rain and sure could use more . Nothing planned for the day other than work about home and bake bread.

On our way into town yesterday we noticed a flock of turkeys and they have young ones already! Not too little, so they much have had them in a cold weather...good job they could keep warm under Mom's feathers.

Jane, thank Frankie for me please.  I am not a fan of paper work but know it must be done. I agree with the pain killers, after my operation the pills stayed in the container and I opted for OTC ones..with little or no side effects.

Lloyd, you are one of the ones we would dearly miss so hang in there and put up with us for a long while. When you get tired lean on Nancy or come in here and lean on us.

Patricia, hope you see some sun and warm weather today. You sure get to wear your winter coats a long time there.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

LLOYD, I don't know what we would ever do without you!  You make us think about things that might never come to mind!  Hang in there!  It has to get better!

AMY, I remember what brought up the discussion of you and Seniors and Friends.  Frankie and I were sharing pictures that we have on our cell phones and I showed her the one of David and me that we took when he stopped here.

JACKIE, I glad to see your "hanging in there" and that you are making the best of it.  Give us a word now and then so we know you are still around.

I'm making headway on my chores for today.  I have EMMA's birthday gift ready for the post office.  She won't get it on her birthday (tomorrow) but she knows it's coming.

I have the last of the bed clothes in the washer and the pad and bottom sheet back on the bed.  The top sheet and comforter are in the dryer and the blanket/bed spread is in the washer.  I've finished a few odd jobs and my plan is to go to the post office right after lunch when the doggies are all taken care of and the bed is back to normal.  Then I have a couple of other stops in town and back home to collapse.  I don't do the "running around" as easily as I did a while back.

Where is JOY,  GLORIA and PHYLLIS?

AMY, we had rain almost all day yesterday.  The grass is shooting out of the ground but the weeds are winning the race.

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Jane, I have that photo beside me..plus the one of you in the kitchen :) I am so envious of David as he got to meet you!!!

Have bread raising in the oven to be baked in about 40 min. Friend gave me a recipe for pickled red onion and may try that later..just cut the onion up, mix up the solution ,pour in on and put the jar in the  fridge. Doesn't get any easier that that!

We've achieved  plus forty and it seems we're back on track for a very, very late spring.

Amy

Yayyy Patricia, that is a start...finally.
We had folks stop in and order a trug,  timed it just right as I just took the bread out of the oven and shared a loaf with them..
Light drizzle, no working outside today..

Good afternoon.....

I am doing wonderful......quite comfortable pain wise with only one Aleve a day.  Walking some and I have done my minimal exercise they will allow at this point.

No news from Dave yet today regarding how Michele is doing.  I am hoping no news is good news🙏🙏

A storm is headed our way.  Do hope it is more than snow as Dave has a good distance to drive to be with Michele.  Both of their boys are back at home doing online teaching again due to Covid numbers😩.

JACKIE, thank you for your words to LLOYD.  Sometimes I know that many feel they have had about all they can take and ask the good Lord to take them home....but HE knows what is best for us and we must trust in him to know when it is our time🙏 LLOYD is indeed valuable to us and to his family!  So here up LLOYD ‼️

I just realized that I do not think I have ever seen a picture of you AMY.  Sure would be nice if you could tell me where to look in here OR send one in email....PLEASE.  Those lucky new trug owners.....they got their trug AND a loaf of fresh made bread‼️‼️

YEA PATRICIA.......you are having a heatwave.....40 degrees!

No word from Dave yet today.  I am hoping we will hear soon that she is doing well enough to have the surgery🙏🙏🙏  I am worried about my son as he has so much on his plate with Michele, the children and then of course ME oh and his JOB!  I assured him this morning that I am doing great and not to burden himself worrying about me as we are good.

I hope everyone reading this is doing well.

Quick note from Wichita..... eyes still watering & I'm pretty sure the pollen had aggravated the new lens in both eyes (they weep together).

Jenny, glad you are doing so well and on going prayers for Michele & all the family. I feel so sad thinking of all they are going through.

I did get the lettuce seeds planted yesterday & think my trug is probably as full as can be. Lucky the people that have more than one!  Good to see all that showed up today & hope even more post tomorrow (please, y'all).... Love, Shirley

JaneS

WOW! Lots of posts today!  I like that!  I'm here to say "Good Night, Everyfriend".  My eyes have entered "slamshut" mode again so I'm giving in and heading for the haystack.  I hear it's nice and clean and loaded with zzzzzs.  I'll let you know about that tomorrow.

Frankie went home and showered and than went to her friend's new place to help her open the boxes they packed together at her old place.  Then she came here to spend the night.  We've done a lot of talking, some of it about all of you on S&F.  She thinks you're all pretty neat!  It pleases me that she likes to spend time with her old Grammy and I hope that doesn't stop!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a happy Spring day tomorrow...even PATRICIA is experiencing SPRING!  Nice to see JACKIE posting here again!  Where's JOY, GLORIA, PHYLLIS?

Good morning...

Overcast at the moment but they are calling for rain.

A trip to the grocery store at 7 then home to chase dust bunnies. Dog's hair is falling out more now and keeps one busy cleaning it up. This afternoon tis back into town for an appointment then home to stay ..I hope.

Jane Cooper looks like a sweetie!! Good company for you and Mickie.

Shirley, more than one trug mean more work and just filling the 4 and topping up the  3 played me out! Can't wait to get planting though... fresh vegetables soon.

Patricia 50 ,that will put the run on the snow.

Lisa ,welcome and hope you enjoy your time here..

Bubble, thank you for posting Janes photo..

Time to get ready to meet the day.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

I'm here but don't have a lot to say.  Shirley, the pollen count is so high this year.  Everyone is miserable with the sneezing, coughing, watering eyes, etc.  Hope we all will get some relief soon.

I'd like to hear from Lloyd and hope that he can get a better night's sleep.  Everything looks so bad when you can't sleep.

I'm sorry we don't hear from Gloria and Joy but I understand when they just don't feel up to it.

Take care, All.

Hey, Phyllis, since you grew up Kansas, you remember the wind (probably) most of all... and it is doing a fantastic job swirling the pollen around this year. I don't stay inside because the cats will bring it in anyway.

Jane, Cooper is a darling pup & every pic I see of a dog makes me want one more. I do love these cats BUT they don't intend to ever obey or even come when it's MY idea to feed them. My daughter
gets a kick out of them staring me down when I "ask" them in or tell them to do something. She was used to out German Shepherd saying, "yes, maam, right there".  ;)

Lisa, I'm not a game player BUT WELCOME to the group. It took me a while to get used to this group telling all, but it's my morning coffee with friends like the old days when raising kids. Hope you learn to love us.

Okay, must get ready to head to the eye doc for routine check up. Sunny but chilling this morning. Howdy spring!

Amy

Jane, put a recipe for pickled radishes for you in here..
https://www.seniorsandfriends.org/index.php?topic=782.new#new

I will make the onions but you may have the radishes. You have David now eating them the same way you do and he loves them.

I knew something was wrong when I had to keep putting Peepers back on her perch yesterday and this morning she no longer needs a perch. She was 29 yrs old and for a cockatiel I think that is remarkable.. Going to be really quiet in here now.

Shirley, I am still trying to get photos of Tom T turkey that are good ones. , my tablet is doing a slow death and may resort to getting a new one.Can send you the ones I have of him.one on top of the hood of a Pepsi truck!

Good morning everyone!

Jenny, Michele will be in my thoughts today.

Amy that is a long time for a cockatiel. You will have many good memories to sustain you.

Amy

Patricia, I had no idea that they lived that long . Now she will join Boris ,our cinnamon cockatiel..

Damp here  and although the sun is trying to punch holes in the clouds it is not winning so far. I put the fire back on to take away the chill!!

We're in the thirties, presently heading toward a mid-forties high. Weather reports say we won't get into the sixties until May.

They are starting to dredge the snow into various piles in public areas reserved for that, so there are more brown spots. They work at night, but you get used to the backup vehicle horns. We won't see any greenery if all goes back to normal until Memorial day or just before.

My leg is feeling so much better after the fluctuating barometric pressure has stabilized. It's become obvious that my osteoarthritis definitely was affecting my injury. However, I have no plans to do more than baby myself until the end of the month.

I feel bad because my sprain's minor compared to many here and their families and I'm not used to not being able to do as I wish. It has taught me to pay more attention as I've had many falls this winter due to simply not expecting difficulties and being prepared and that's on me.

On a better note, Alan and Dora are feeling healthier and plan on staying home, isolating, and taking it easy through the next month. Covid, even their minor cases, is not easy in your eighties they say.

Amy

Patricia, happy to read your friends are feeling better.

Leg injuries are no fun as mine just doesn't want to heal but it can stay in bed or come with me in the morning so off we go. :)

Friend just called and she has the 2.5 inches of fabric I need to finish off a binding I know I have some of the same here but it is playing hide and go seek on me and doing a fantastic job!!

My brain is already taking a nap but saying a quick (but fervent) prayer for Michele & thoughts of each of you, my loving/caring friends.

Eye appointment went well, totally NOT what I expected. This doctor writes the 'script for glasses but independent of any optical department, so I will take my 'script to any vendor that will make the glasses with lens I approve of (meaning good quality lens like on a camera). I know my eyes like glass glasses best but don't think ANY of the optical places sell glass ones anymore. The glasses made last near never did work out, they remade them one time & was worse than original. I wore them for a week+ but my eyes didn't adjust to them, a waste of money but I didn't return them again. This time I want to be sure we understand what we are getting~~

Patricia, you do an amazing job of taking care of yourself and knowing what works best for you. Do hope you feel up to the walks you used to take, gosh, how long ago was that when you visited the "parks" that weren't really parks, places to show us the wildlife & mountains in the distance. I will be whining on my death bed that "BUT I DIDN'T GET TO ALASKA YET!"

My Covid case was as hard as any I've heard about that didn't need a respirator, but even in mid-80s I was afraid to go for help in case they put meds in that this body didn't like. When fever broke (& I didn't even realize I had fever), my clothes were dripping wet & the 4"memory foam topper on my bed was completely soaked so full I rolled it up & dragged it into the entry hall where the floor is slate & not carpet. Quite an experience that I wouldn't want to go thru again!

Amy, sincere sympathy for Peepers death... the cockatiel the kids got me shortly after we moved to this house only lived about 5-6 years. I didn't know any could live 29 years. Mine was named HoneyBird..... for sure your house will be quiet, at least HoneyBird was pretty vocal!

Jane, my eyes are at that "slamshut" stage so will get horizontal & close them! Tiger came up from the basement & will keep me company on the bed. Daughter is out for a couple miles walk & errands so all's well in Wichita.

Update text from Dr. Dave at 11:19 MDT

I just got the call from Michele's surgeon. Everything went fantastic. They were very pleased. Plastic surgery is just scrubbing in now to start the closure. Not sure how long that will take. It will still be several hours before I'm able to see her. Very relieved and feel blessed that we have such a great team. I'll keep you informed as I know anything new.

thought thought I would check In and see what is going ON. fixed a post two times hit post and It went away to never  never Land, hope this one  flies Right. It is61º and Sunny and clear Here. sure wish I was healed up so I could go work in the shop. several of our children went down day before yester day and went snagging for spoon bill catfish. got several, weighed in at 60 Odd pounds. I never knew but they told me they have no boned , just a cartilage. just dress clean and cut up, they say they taste sort of taste like chicken. Have a good rest of the day.

Lloyd

Shirley

Lloyd, I was at the lake years ago when someone caught a spoonbill catfish & it was taller (they had it on a rope hanging) than anyone around, never heard how many pounds but it looked as big as any man in the crowd. Looked like a pre-historic monster to me.

Oh, Jenny, so glad to hear something going right for Michele. She stays in my prayers & heart, I've never known anyone to have so many years of suffering.

Have 2 cats looking in the door to see if "we" are going down to the river to feed fish. I had just fallen asleep when my daughter got back, she is off again for her oldest gr-son's ball game. All my great grands have soccer, baseball or something to go to ALL the time. My youngest grand has a "white coat" ceremony for her Audiology graduation next week. I thought this didn't happen until May but what do I know???? Off to the river, can make someone happy (fish)...

...Talking of lengthy, Michele's story brings back memories to me of our dear Karren's story, her years of suffering...Oh how we daily followed her ups and her downs, her highs and her lows of her cancer, which if you remember seemed to go on and on for several years...I so remember her postings of several years ago on our forum...Sad to say, her outcome did not have a happy ending...Karren was such a lovely person, loved by all in Soda Shoppe....If i remember correctly her hubbies name was Monty...
