Oldiesmann: Finally got the AmazonBot situation under control. I basically changed some server settings to tell AmazonBot that it's not allowed to access anything on the site. That should fix the speed issues we've been experiencing lately

Darlene, so sorry about your son. I hope the treatment is successful and he tolerates it well.

Marilyn, glad you got to the doctor with your son - and that you got Keith to eat some good meals. You did make a good move!

One of our staff members has tested positive, so all the residents were tested today. So far all are negative. Hope that remains the case. We're not due to get our second booster for a couple of weeks.

Morning from windy and soon to be wet Iowa!

Nothing exciting or even moderately interesting here.

Stay safe!
Jane

patricia19

Jane, we're still glad you checked in!

jane

Just saw tornado that hit near Wichita, KS.  Kansas and Neb had a lot today.

Stay alert, everybody!

Hope everyone is safe from the bad weather going around...we had pea size hail with some rain...my vehicle was safe under carport....thanks to everyone for adding my son to your prayer list....on a note of good news..my great grand daughter has advanced to state in the 100 and 300 hurdles...very proud of her hard work...she's a senior this year and received a track scholarship for college.....Hi to all looking in.....

jane

Hurrah for Darlene's great granddaughter and her scholarship to college!!

Nothing exciting here.  I should have gotten out to WalMart this morning, but I didn't make it.  Maybe tomorrow I'll do it.   ::)

Too much bad weather across all our states.  Stay safe,

jane

jane

Morning, All.

I did get my lazy body out of bed in time to make it to WalMart and my other grocery store before 9:00 am.  One other guy masked at WalMart, nobody else at Fareway...but so be it.

Dreary day here and rain to start again tonight and through tomorrow and more near the end of the week.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

All is well with me....good morning to everyone]

Hi Gals. John and I both tested positive for Covid, at least according to the instant read tests I got from the govt. John didn't comes down with it until Friday. I tested us on Sat. I really thought I had a bad head cold. Both of us tired, lacking energy, but minimal coughing. My 10 days is up Wed. It really hasn't been that bad, but I'm sure it's because of the vaccinations. We get our 2nd booster in a couple weeks.

Darlene, I'm so sorry about your son. I'm putting him on my prayer list.

Mary, I'm glad you got your heart meds adjusted.

Marilyn, good that Gabriel was able to drive you to your appt. What did you find out?  Glad Keith is eating better.

Jane, hope that your joints etc are doing better with the better weather.

Alpiner, I'm so sorry your heel is still so painful. Have you been to a podiatrist?

For those of you not on FB, I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from Chewy Co, from where I had had her food auto-shipped. I had called to cancel my account and explained Bunny had died. Never expected such a thing. Lovely note with it too.

The house is still too quiet and empty with her gone.

Hi to Patricia and Mary Page and whoever I missed. Sharon

maryz

Just the usual news of stuff going on around here. Except that a friend from Chattanooga came to visit yesterday and brought lunch for Margaret and me and herself. Great fun!!

It's good to hear everybody's news. Wish I had something more to contribute.

Happy May, Buddies!

Sharon...sorry to hear you've got Covid or whatever variation of it it is. Take care of YOURSELF! Patricia's and Donal's also started as what he thought was a bad cold...but test says different.  She was really sick with temp of 102 for 4 days.  So, thank heavens for the vaccine and booster...she said she'd have probably ended up hospitalized.

Good to see your post, Maryz.  Hurrah for the lunch with friend and daughter.

I managed to get out to the yard and trim off old heads from my hydragenas...my landscapers are both laid up with issues...rotator cuff and back so I don't know if/when one or both can come.

jane

jane

Ah yes, me again.

Cold and wet here today, but I don't need a dog tag 'cause I got a haircut this morning!

Take care.

Marilyn

Good Morning everyone.
Sharon GILBERT took me to the eye Dr. I haven't heard from the Dr as to what the pictures have shown

Yesterday I was frantically looking for a little cloth wallet that I carry my Drivers' License and two credit card in, My pastor eve searched the church. So I cancelled the card,  I found a Drivers license that I thought I lost years ago under the passenger seat of my car. Today I decided to dump out the bag that I carry my binder of music in and there it was, So I shredded those credit cards since I am getting new ones. What a relief to fine them.[/size

Sharon, so sorry about the Covid diagnosis. I certainly hope neither of you are too sick, since you've been vaccinated.

jane haircuts are always wonderful!

Marilyn, what a pain. But I'm glad you found the cards since now you know they're not floating around out there somewhere.

We had a thunderstorm roll through last night, but nothing severe - just noise and rain.

Good morning from an Interior in flux, a now normalized state! Our highs are in the mid-fifties to sixties depending on which area of town you're in, and our lows are in the mid to late thirties. We are still about thirty days behind the old normal temperatures, and that seems to be our new normal since January!

We're a city bisected and surrounded by five rivers, so we're impacted both by proximity and being the place where all the possible flood refugees (Or fire if need be) come. The conditions are such that my friends who planned to come into town are staying put in case they're unable to return home. So, I will be venturing out alone to pay any bills and stock up on groceries. This is becoming frustrating. If it isn't Covid, a snowpack, or an overabundance of road ice, its entire sheets of river ice loosening and causing floods by ice jamming!

I have a friend who was on a family zoom call that included a brother who is a Catholic priest. She was jokingly teasing him about his "dad bod" when he came back with, "Don't you mean, "father figure?"

Her family is wonderful, and I told her she needed to adopt me!

I wish I could get a haircut instead of snipping at it myself! I don't know when this town will be reopening. I'm envious of your haircut!  :)

You're lucky Marilyn! A couple of years ago, I had a Visa card canceled because of a suspicious charge and had to wait for a new card. I was grateful they caught the attempt! I have no idea how they got my number as it was never out of my procession.

SharonE

Hi Gals, didn't sleep well last night, so have been really useless today. John's a little better.

The talk about haircuts just reminded me to call and make an appt for one. I definitely need dog tags. Thurs. I'm going to get a manicure and do the grocery shopping. My first day out of quarantine.

Marilyn, I do know that your son is Gilbert not Gabriel, but for some reason it always pops into my head as Gabriel. Guess I'm thinking of angels. Sorry about the misplaced credit cards. I've done that too. It's a scary feeling.

Patricia, sometimes the credit card #'s are skimmed at the gas tank or copied by a server in a restaurant. I've had weird charges show up and had to get new cards too.  Sorry you're flooding now. I hope your weather stabilizes soon.

Mary, sounds like a nice outing with your daughter and friend.

Jane, I bet it's nice to get out in the garden again. But don't over do and I hope your yard guy is able to return. We never ran temperatures which is one reason I didn't think it was Covid, but it was. Fatigue is a major symptom.  John woke up coughing and sneezing in the middle of the night and had to get up for a while to get it stopped. I was still awake anyway, so it didn't bother me, just worried me.  Glad you got your haircut. I'll be glad to get mine.

We're having temps in the mid 80's this week. 88 one day. Way too early for that.

Take care everyone and stay safe.  Sharon

MaryPage

i have had those credit card problems in the past, but no longer.  I attribute part of the change to the fact that I don't go out much anymore and part to the not using the card except in places that have the little machine you use yourself.  If a person is there to take the card, I pay in cash or by check instead.

You can get around the crooks skimming your number by enclosing your cards in these little sleeves that protect them from the skimmer.  They have these in larger sizes for passports, too.  Google "Credit Card Protective shields."  Amazon has them.

patricia19

That might work except the one scammed has a chip that must be inserted. Luckily I'm so predictable that the charge evidently boldly stood out as unusual.

Cottoncandy

Good morning all...Sharon sorry to hear you and John have been sick....healing hugs to you both...my brother had it couple months ago..is just now weaning his self off oxygen...he didn't have vaccine..Marlyin the card scare has happened to me also..Jane hope your weather warms up...it's already summer here...Hi Amy Patrica..Mary and any others reading...be safe

jane

So GOOD to see our Buddies here this morning!

I think there is a whole network of credit card scammers...I've had mine in my possession and still charges were made against it in Mississippi and in Bombay and in Hollywood, CA.  The problem seemed to be the processing place our bank used for its credit card.  I stopped using that card and switched to Chase Visa and have not had a problem.  THe credit card company did NOT catch any of those...told the bank they were too small to be noticed.  HUH?
$1000 in fast food in 5 days in Hollywood...while I was using the card in Dubuque, IA...and $800 in India.  Those aren't small amounts to me, but then I'm just a hick in rural Iowa! :o   When we were in Texas one winter, the police found a woman with 60+ cards...from three different banks...with other people's numbers on them.  She wouldn't tell them where she got the numbers.

It's to be nice today and then two days of rain.  I need to get out and so a few things in the yard.  I'm also sorting through all of Ray's books and will take to the Library resale fund raiser.

Take care!

jane

patricia19

Good morning buddies! I'm up, showered, fed myself and Farrah, and had coffee. The rest of the day is open.

Marilyn

luckily I had my Chase card in my wallet. Te ones I had to rplace were my bank debit card and my Costco credit card.

I too need to go grocery shopping this morning to buy the the ingredients to make the dog food, and bottle water for them as well.[

This afternoon I have a Zoom meeting with the Caregivers Support group.

Good Morning to Patricia and Marilyn...
I've not got much on the agenda for today or tomorrow...rain, rain...and so I'll get my laundry done.  How's that for excitement?

After yesterday's bit of work in the yard, muscles I'd forgotten I had have reappeared.   :o

Still cool here, but next week we slam into summer...70s and 80s...

Covid cases on the rise in Iowa...and probably more than we know, given home testing and no reporting.

Take care!

Good Morning Jane and all who come to visit today. Rain here and low temps. Should be up to about 59° today.

I am taking both dogs in to the groomer for their baths, nails etc. They always put matching scarves on them, little Milly looks so cute  wears a scarf.

Keith seems to be doing better, staying awake longer during the day. He still want the news on all the time (I am so tired of listening to the news over and over again). I disconnected the cable aand am using an indoor antennna. I found some news for him on You tube and that was a mistake. I should have just told him there is no news at this time of day. I could just put on my headset and listen to music on my compiter, tablet or phone.

patricia19

Good morning! Today will be spent returning to town to return all the things I thought were right but weren't and following my list to find all the items I forgot or errands I overlooked on Tuesday.

alpiner1

I got hearing aids a week ago , thought I was charging them but discovered I misunderstood the directions .  They went dead , I referred to the instruction booklet & discovered I had done it all wrong !  I wore them several days before I realized the batteries needed charging .

patricia19

I just got home after re-running all my earlier forgotten errands and fixed all my mistakes except for the eyeglass side frame. It looks as if the optimists are among those still awaiting re-opening. I came out to dark grey clouds and drizzles. What happened to our promised sunny day and what will happen to all those ice sheets that don't need more moisture?

In 2020, they gave me a hearing aids prescription but of course that went the way of all nonessentials appointments back at the start of the pandemic. I wonder if I should try again?

jane

Alpiner...bummer on the charging.  I hope they're all ready to go now.

Patricia...Glad you got somethings done today, even in the drizzle.

I worked in the yard again and got some things cut down and pulled out that had been bugging me.  I thought my lawn guy would come today, but not so far.   ::)

Time to shower and get ready for Friday night out...just 3 of us tonight.

jane

alpiner1

The hearing aids were charged when we left home this morning but went dead before we got home .  We both had lab work , then stopped for breakfast & then did grocery shopping .

jane

Alpiner...Something wrong with your aids or your charger or whatever.  It's probably time to go back where you got them and ask for explanations.

Beautiful day here..60s and wind is not bad.  I need to go out and do some yard work before the rains of tomorrow and the heat and humidity of next week.  First it's too cold...and now it's going to be too hot and humid.  I'm a very hard to please Iowa person.  >:(
