prayers Jane...my sweetheart has been gone 10 years...God allowed us 54 years together...lately I'm really missing him...we cope...all we can do....take care

Marilyn

God bless you Jane. Those memories are precious.

I am doing will. I go back to the Dr. tomorrow I think he will removed stitches etc.  My A fib is being controlled by medication. I am so glad for that.+

The dogs are at the groomer this morning. Keith i asleep on the couch. It is about time to fix luncj and wake him up.

jane

Thank you Marilyn and Darlene.

I picked up few groceries after my pedi...and then left one bag at WalMart.
I drove back out and they had it at the customer service counter so all is good.

jane

patricia19

That's nice that they do that, Jane. Here they photocopy the receipt and return everything to the shelves.

jane

They didn't have the receipt because I take all of those and had it.  The woman said they were always happy when the customer comes back before they had to "log it in the book," etc.  So, I'm apparently not the only one who goes off without all their bags.   :o

Rainy morning here and I'm enjoying it.

Marilyn

Good morning Buddies. All is well here. I've been noticing that Keith is deteriorating cognitively more and more each day.He does still lay on the couch mos t of the day and I don't know if he is asleep or awake. There are times when I have said mean things t him and now I've deided Id better wat ch what I say or how I say it. I just get so frustrated at time and I realize I need a break to re-group myself..

patricia19

We've been promised rain for the last three days and next week, but so far, none but a small overnight one earlier this week. We have blue skies because the wind has shifted and blown away all the smoke.

They don't need the paper receipt here, as the information comes off the computer.

I've had my new cell since the tenth, and I hadn't realized all the bells and whistles it and others have as my old one was a simple prepaid. What was interesting and disturbing was that you held it, turned it on above your old phone, switched on, and acquired all of the older phone's information. And this is far from a costly model.

I hope your day gets significantly better.

Marilyn, I went through similar times with my mother as her entire personality turned. She would hide things and accuse family members of stealing them or simply having evil purposes. She hid food items in drawers and tried to get everyone to hide under tables as bad people or times were coming. This was in the early nineties; we knew little to nothing about the disease.

We had to have a family member there at all times and finally had to send her outside since, in those early days, there was no place equipped for Alzheimer's, and the places available for long-term care had long waiting lists. My dad, who had always depended on my mom for handling the home, theirs was a traditional marriage, was often at a loss.

Bubble said you might like to see my new spice rack and post a photo. The next photo was yesterday's and this morning's blue skies. Now the smoke is back.

Hi Gals, They got a late start on Melanie yesterday, so she will spend an extra night at the hospital. I haven't heard from her yet today, so she probably not up to messaging.  Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Jane & Darlene & Mary, I know that holidays, birthdays and anniversaries must be very difficult. I always tried to call my mom on those special days. Fortunately, I still have my husband and know we are lucky at our age.

Marilyn, I'm sorry K is deteriorating. However, I am so glad you got your pacemaker and with the meds have it under control.

I went out with the Lunch Bunch here to a French restaurant yesterday. So much fun. I don't usually go but the Fr. restaurant tempted me.

I was going to go get a manicure today, but for some reason had diarrhea & some nausea, so didn't go. Maybe tomorrow or Monday.

No other news here. Take care all of you. Sharon

Sharon...glad that Melanie's in the hospital where they can care for her as she gets her infusion.

Marilyn...good that you've got your heart regulated as K declines.  That's got to be very difficult.  I'm SURE you're not the only caregiver of a dementia spouse who gets exhausted and frustrated.

Patricia...beautiful pictures and a good idea on your spice rack.

It's an overcast Saturday here, and I have no energy.

Take care and stay healthy and safe,

jane

jane

I'm firmly in the summer doldrums.  It's too hot and humid to exert any energy outside and inside, too, for me.  Or it's called LAZY!   :D  ;D  :2funny:

The autoimmune flareup has been painful and I'm glad I have NO appts this week.

Stay safe!

patricia19

I have a cautionary tale on both the Internet and your recall. I have told folks for years that I started on the net in 2000. I was off by a few years as by going back through old internet files; 2000 was when I joined SeniorNet. I was first on the Internet on April 22nd, 1995, or at least that was my first post online when I joined ThirdAge, which suffered the same ignominious end as our SeniorNet.

So, you can be tracked right down the rabbit hole.

alpiner1

I have a mammogram appt. this Wednesday .  I'm dreading it & am most likely not the only woman to feel this way .  I know it is important .  I sure hope some day the procedure will be less painful !   It is such a relief when it is finished !   Afterwards I have an appt. with the surgeon even though it has been 5 years since the surgery .

jane

Alpiner....I  think all of us here dread the mammo.  I'm 33 years past surgery and chemo, and I still get nervous when it's time for the "big squeeze."

Know we all will be thinking of you.

It's so terribly hot and humid here...heat index above 100...so I'm not doing much...except watering my flower beds.

Stay safe and healthy,

maryz

alpiner, like jane said, we all get nervous - no matter how long it's been.

I had a great weekend visit with Sue here - first time I've seen her since the wedding at Christmas. And I spent all day Saturday at Margaret's, with Sue, Jean, and my longest-term-Tennessee friend (since 1963!) Beth and her daughter, Lisa (who is Sue's age-and-friend). And Henry, too, just for fun! A long, exhausting, wonderful day.

We had a break in our temps today - not reaching 90* for 29 days - only in the 80s. But it's supposed to be another major heat wave through the week, with highs near 100. I do give thanks for a/c.

Did I tell you that we have Covid in our building again? As far as I know, there are 3 residents and 3 staff members.  I tested negative on Saturday morning. Don't know when they' test again. We have not been quarantined in our rooms - so far - just those who are positive.

Stay well and cool, Buddies!

jane

Maryz...Hurrah for a wonderful time with Margaret, Sue, and Jean and your friend Beth and her daughter.  Great you could be out at Margaret's.  I hope the covid stays far away from you.

jane

MaryPage

Jane, I am so sorry you are experiencing that pain.

My oncologist told me no more mammograms several years ago.  I think it must have been when I turned 90.  I did not put up a fuss!   I really, REALLY hated those things.

It was 111 degrees in Dallas, Texas today.  My 2nd husband, David, was from Dallas, so the children and I visited there a lot.  I don't believe I ever heard of that kind of heat down there previously.

jane

MaryPage...this heat everywhere is overwhelming, I think.  Thank heavens for air conditioning!

Thanks, Bubble...something to take our minds off the heat!

jane

MaryPage

I feel so sorry for the people of Great Britain.  Most of them lack air conditioning, as they have never needed it.  They are suffering and dying like mad.

alpiner1

I will be leaving in a few minutes to go for the mammogram .  I'm so up tight !!   I'm hoping I will fall asleep on the way .  My husband will be driving .  I'm just thankful it isn't a procedure I had in the past .  I had to lay down on a machine with my breasts in a space .  I have respiratory issues , I couldn't get enough oxygen & knew I was going to pass out or die !  I squeezed the rubber ball for help & someone came in & got me off the machine .  I was dizzy & nauseated .

jane

MaryPage...you are so right.

Alpiner...By the time you read this, it'll all be an unpleasant memory.  I hope you can get some calm and peace to relax a bit.

jane

alpiner1

The mammogram appt. went well .  The results were good !   Afterward I had an appt. with the surgeon & won't have another mammogram or visit with the surgeon until 2023  .  I had a 1/2 hour wait in the surgeon's office .  I opened the exam room door to check if they had forgotten me & gone to lunch !

Cottoncandy

Good morning...thought I better check in..although not much new going on with me...feel like such a slug...100+ temps every day plus high humidity...Sharon hope Melanie got started on her treatment...and tolerated it well...ALPINER..glad ur big squeeze is over with good report..Jane has it cooled down in ur area..hi to Marlyin...Mary's..and others looking in...the Covid is getting bad again...so stay safe

patricia19

Good morning, nothing new here, still some fires burning, altho this past week of steady drizzle has helped stop the spread from continuing. Most of the closest rivers run bankfull with some sweepers and low-lying flooding. We still have our refugees, and they're hopeful that they can return soon and start any repairs. The flooding is just another hindrance.

Alpiner, I'm glad to hear your appointment went well and there is no bad news. I hate those things. You'd think they had a better idea by now! My mother did get left behind in a clinic in the early sixties. She had fallen asleep, and everyone locked up, went home, and forgot about her. I don't remember what happened other than she called my dad, who called the police, but I'm sure the clinic was extravagant in their apologies.

I hope this heat wave the world is having cools down for the season. I believe this is only a sign of what we dismissed and now face.

alpiner1

I did get forgotten once at my primary care dr.'s office .  I opened the door to check , good thing I did .  I never went back !  Later this dr. had legal problems .

jane

Alpiner...hurrah on a good report and now yearly visits.  That's where I am after 32 years!  YIKES on being forgotten.  It sure feels like it many times.

Patricia...I agree on the global warning.

Darlene...Still very hot here...temps in upper 90s and with humidity, heat index is 107.  Warnings about those working outside to be careful, take breaks, water, etc.  Weekend to be worse.

Sharon...how is Melanie doing?

Maryz and MaryPage...hope you are both staying cool and comfortable.

Darlene...Covid rising here, too.  I wore my mask at WalMart and saw several others with them on, too.

You're right about it being too hot to eat.

Take care and stay healthy,

jane

Hello Buddies. Just want to let you know that I am still here . I do come every day to read your postings

saw my Primary today. She went over all the info from the hosptal and checked out my pacemaker area.

Keith seems to be declining more in the last few days. It seems to be going faster than I am ready for as far as his care and taking care of myself.

jane

Marilyn...it must be so sad to see K declining so.  I'm sure you're on top of it, though, and have checked out agencies/placements/helpers when you need it so you can take care of you.

Nothing exciting here.  It's HOT
