If I may ask...which Vicks one do you have...there's several listed on Amazon...thx

patricia19

CC, both of mine are also Vicks, and I purchased mine at a Kroger's Fred Meyer store. I don't remember the price. I have one in the bedroom and one in the living room. Here's a very similar one from the Vicks webpage at $41.97.

Cold, windy day here.

My rheumatologist had me come in yesterday to go over my CAT (CT) scan.  No tumors, but a compressed veterbrae he's concerned about, so wants me to get an MRI with contrast.

Also wants me to stop Evista and do prolia every 6 months and citrocal 600 mg.  I asked about jaw effects of prolia...he said only one of his patients has problems and she was a heavy smoker, on oxygen, and had tooth implants.

Always something!

I'm looking forward to going up to northern Wisc for a few days.  Patricia is coming down today and we'll stop for my dermatology appt en route to Wisconsin.

I'll be back Sun or Monday.

Jane

maryz

jane, hope all works out well with the CT scan.  And have a great weekend in Wisconsin!

Nothing exciting here (as usual). Overnight temps below freezing the last couple of night, and Saturday and Sunday will be near 80*. Tennessee weather is such fun!

Happy Birthday a little late, SHARON.  Hope it was a lovely day for you.

I had Debi & Steve here all day today.  They came to take down a very old florescent light fixture in my kitchen ceiling and install a lovely new LED wrap one, whatever that is.  Well, I guess what I have and am so happy with is what it is.  And they chortle that it will last 45 years.  Like I care!

Debi & I took a lovely walk through the woods on a new path that has been blazed through them.  We saw some truly amazing leaves and trees and such like.

I am pretty well wiped out from it all, so off to bed.  I adore sleeping under a comforter these coolish nights!  The experience is the Perfect description of the word Cozy!

I have been busy learning to use my new portable oxygen canisters.  Have been on oxygen for a good while now, but had to add in the portable variety just recently.  I don't much like their heaviness against my body when walking around, but they beat having no walk around oxygen.  Life goes on, but always changes at least a little bit.

Chip & I have not been out to eat since Covid started, but we have committed to lunch at Panara's tomorrow because I have the oxygen for that sort of excursion now.  I cannot TELL you how much I look forward to THAT!  I plan to pig out on soup and salad, and hope they have a loaf of raisin bread left to buy.  Look out World!  Here I come!

maryz

MaryPage, I always said that if I had to go on oxygen, I'd get one of those portable thing. And I LOVE Panera's - especially their potato soup and/or Green Goddess salad. It's been a while since I went to one, so those may not even be on the menu anymore.  Bon Appetit! in any case.

Margaret took me on a drive Friday afternoon to look at some fall color. It's usually beautiful around here - and this is such a lovely area. She took me up on Monteagle Mountain (home of Sewanee, the University of the South}. With that added elevation, it's especially beautiful. I have to admit, it wore me out - even though I didn't do anything but ride.

And while we were out, she got a call from her sister-in-law that her mother-in-law had died. She was nearly 90, in very frail condition with Parkinson's, so not a surprise. All the visitation/funeral/etc. was today.

I hope jane is having a good time on her visit to Wisconsin.

Oh, Mary!  I love the creamy tomato soup with the grilled cheese sandwich above all food on any menu, but I often fix these for myself at home, so I kind of thought I would order the French onion soup with the Greek salad, but you are leading me astray here!  Mebbe I'll choose your order, instead!  Love me that potato soup & Green Goddess, I mean, just the name alone makes That salad taste great! Well, I don't think they have all of their menu on the menu on a daily basis, so I will decide when I get there.

Mary Page, I have been on Oxygen for 5 years and use the portable  concentrator as you do. My brand is Inogen. They have a home stable one which I use with a long enough canula length to get me all through the house.  I broke my back a few years ago so I can't carry the portable one. I bought a carrier ($19.95) at Target for this one and wheel it about. These machines are so much better than tanks as they truly offer you freedom to move about.

Good morning...hope all are doing well..Jane hope you are enjoying your trip in Wisc...always good to get away for few days..Patricia and others that commented on the humidifier..thx...will be getting one..Mary Z..I also love to drive through our mountains and see the beautiful fall colors...I have had family last few days...so definitely a wash day today...my feet has been hurting me ...I might need to buy a different kind of shoes...Hi to all reading..have a great day and week

MaryPage

Thank you hugely, Diglady!  I am still in the learning stages of this section of my life.  Phew!  I never really have contemplated this chapter at all, at all, at all!  Oh well, here it is and here I am.  Sorry to hear you are here as well and all, but at least you have reached the shore, as opposed to being at sea with it all, as I still am.

Everything can be figured out eventually.  I can come to an agreeable adjustment to all of this.  But believe me, helpful comments from such experienced pros as yourself are appreciated more than my words can convey.

I am apparently not as nimble on my feet as you, because the very first time I took advantage of the seemingly miles of tubing supplied with the major tank so that I might move about the apartment breezily, I tripped over a portion of it and almost (I caught hold of something) took what could have been a disastrous tumble.  Have not been brave enough to try that since, but it makes no nevermind anyway, as I now have the portable, also.  Yesterday, Chip & I went to Paneras for lunch, and I took (wore, as it were) the portable, which I consider to have been a great success in every way, except the one of becoming accustomed to the additional weight.  I finally chose the French Onion soup (Heaven on Earth, I swear!) with extra bread and the Greek Salad.  Most places these days give you a bowl or a plate full of nasty little greens that do not taste all that great, and then sprinkle a few tokens of real salads on top.  Our Paneras gives lots of real lettuce with tons and tons of salad ingredients, like a stuffed Christmas stocking.  I mean, I have NOTHING to complain about!

MaryPage

My "real" lettuce was Romaine.

diglady

Mary Page, Keep the tubing in your hand reeling it in (loops) as you move about and ensure it is between your feet not to the side. Also step ON the tubing not Over. This is how I ensure I don't trip over the tubing.

MaryPage

Oh, Like, Like, Like, Like, Like!  How do I give this gal a "Like?"

alpiner1

In 2018 after being in the hospital with pneumonia I came home with oxygen .  I had a main unit with an oxygen tank that was stationary with long tubing .  I had an oxygen concentrator with a cart I could take when we went away from home .  It ran on a battery or I could plug in the car or house hold current .  I now use it at night because I wake up not breathing .   There is a night  setting but I have it on constant because I would stop breathing & the alarm would go off waking my husband ,

diglady

Mary Page, I saw your "Like"

So glad it helps.

jane

Hi, Buddies.

I'm home and getting caught up on mail, laundry, etc. while in Wisc.  7 adults, 4 dogs, a 2 1/2 yr old toddler and a 5 wk old baby left me exhausted.  They were making cider and I helped some with slicing apples into quarters.

The CAT scan showed no tumors, but a compressed veterbrae.  Now I have an MRI on my back Monday. My neighbor is going to drive me down since I have to have it with dye, and Patricia worried about me driving home because of my reaction to the dye in the CAT scan.  Other stuff and appts coming up.  Ugh.

It's a dreary day.  This afternoon I need to take some pants to a new alterations lady.  My old one retired, and this woman is just north of town a bit.

We're getting a lot of surge of RSV, flu and Covid.

Stay safe and healthy,

Jane

patricia19

Jane, nice to see you back, and hopefully they may find some answers.

jane

Patricia...I guess we'll see.

Have you had much snow?

Jane

patricia19

Jane, other than the last two years when we had so many 100 years of snowfalls and other records so often that we stopped remarking on it, the arctic doesn't get much snow. Snow needs humidity and moisture to snow, two items that most arctic climes have very little of. I posted a photo today in answer to Bubbles's seaside promenade that shows what we have at today's low of six and a high of thirteen.

My son Chip had to help me out with a problem I had with Google Search, and he went off to bed having fixed my problem, and now I can't find my Bookmarks or several other things.  I will have to ask him tomorrow.  In the meanwhile, I am at least half way back.  Oh well;  that's what I get for being so computer-illiterate!

JeanneP

Looks a little warmer out today. Never could get the porch painting done. Ready to give up on everything until next spring.
Darline. Did they ever get your meds right for the Blood pressure? Mine is now 3 pills. Had to changes in Prime Dr. and each just added one.Main one still the La sorta.I seem to stay around the 136/69 most of the time. I just will stay with them. Lost 4 of my Dr. this year. Just up and quit. Try to just get into Eye Dr. ENT and try to get blood count Yearly. Medical is crazy around here.Insurances fighting with Hospitals and Clinics so some people can't get a Dr at all.

It's nice to see a post from you, Jeanne, even if it's about an issue we'd rather not have. This city has several nearby military bases, so many of the various medicals, doctors, dentists, nurses, and emergency transports are ex-military, which can create its own issues.

SharonE

Hi Gals, guess I haven't been in for a while. Thank you all for the nice birthday wishes. I had a lovely day playing bridge and even won! We didn't do anything special for our birthdays (John's is the 14th). They did bring him an ice cream cake and sang to him in the dining room. I didn't request one since it was so soon after.

I guess I didn't post here about Bunny. Did on FB.  She stopped eating anything and had had a kidney problem and just was ready to go. I tried everything but I couldn't stand by while she starved to death, so the day after her 14th birthday, we had to have her put down. This was in April and I still miss her so much.

I took my trip last weekend (5 days) and had a wonderful time. Lori & Doug spoiled me with French food &  pastries and we went to the Chicago History Museum Sat. afternoon. I met Doug's 2 daughters for the 1st time. They are both is college and share an apt. Then I went to Jocelyne's and got my baby fix. She's 2 mos old and so sweet and even smiled at me several times.  The boys have changed so much in 3.5 yrs. They're really live wires at 7 & 5.  My connections were flawless, so it was a great trip'.

Jane, I hope they can help your back and joints. They can't seem to do much for mine. Glad you had a nice trip. I took Prolia for a while and still take Citracal. My doctor retired and I tried to get in to another arthritis dr, but they only treat rheumatoid!  BTw, be sure to take Citracal for your calcium as it is absorbed much better.

Mary Page, I'm sure the oxygen is a hassle, but I'm so glad you have it and now can get out and do things.

Darlene, glad you had a nice family visit too.

Mary, our weather is almost identical to yours--always a surprise. You are so lucky to see little Henry so often. Mine are all so far away, I feel lucky if I see them once a yr. That's why I took this trip. The pandemic and Joc's pregnancy had prevented her from coming to our family gathering in June.

Melanie's CT scan showed a slight shrinkage of the tumor, but they won't be able to tell much till her MRI the end of Nov.   She has 1 week out of 3 that she feels good and has some energy. I will be so glad when we go down the wk before TG for an early celebration as that will be her good week before getting chemo on Monday before TG.

Patricia, I hope all your paperwork, etc stays done and you can enjoy some of the fall, although your Fall doesn't sound too enjoyable to me with those cold temps. I was cold enough in Minn last weekend. Had to wear my winter coat part of the time.

Alpiner, so glad you are cancer free!

I've been doing laundry all day and have the last load in. Since it was a week and a half, there was a lot.

John has been playing at a bridge tournament here in Charlotte all week. Today is his last day. Has done well part of the time. It's an all-day thing--8:30 to 7:00 every day from the time he leaves till he returns. The worst part is that he has had the car all week and I have to call for golf cart transport from the clubhouse.

I think I've brought you up to date on all my doings now. I'll try to get in more frequently.  Stay well everyone. Sharon

Good morning Buddies...hope all are well and staying away from these viruses...can't believe tomorrow is November...Jeanne...my Dr I had for so long...retired so was having a little trouble with new Dr on my BP meds....I'm taking lorsartan in the morning and amdolopine 2.5mg plus Bystolic 2.5 mg at night....Minimal side effects....hoping this combination works well for me....Idont like experimenting with meds....hope you are doing good with your BP.....Hi to. All looking in

patricia19

Good morning, everyone, still no snow, just sheets of ice and minus six. My coffee's  ready, and Farrah's fed so I'll see you later and hope everyone is doing well!

jane

I'm so happy to see so many posts here this afternoon.

I hope Marilyn is ok.

Today was a long one.  My neighbor drove me to CR for a MRI with contrast. It seemed to take forever.  As a result, my back and hips hurt from being on that hard service without moving for over an hour.  I did have earphones on but could still all the noises...

I'm going to bed very early...awake a lot last night...nerves, I guess.

I have NO more medical stuff for this week!  Whew!

Tomorrow I need to catch up on paying my car insurance and other fun stuff.
