Another lovely fall day here and I'm working down my First of the Month to do list.  Got my pills sorted for the next two weeks and called in for three refills.

After I finish here, it's off to balance the checkbook.   ::)

Nothing much else planned for today.  I'm feeling a lot better then I did last night.  I still need to drink a lot of water, the doc said, to get the "contrast" out of this body.  I did read the radiologist report on the MRI on my patient portal. After looking up several words that were way outside my vocabulary range :-[ , I think all is good...lots of arthritis, but no "disease."

Have a good day!

AND the rains came...and came.  Yesterday and so far this morning...much needed rain, and temps dropping to the mid 40s.  Good to be inside with a fire going.

I've not got much accomplished this morning.  There is a craft show today here in town, but I'm not going.  I sure don't need anything more to clutter up the place... :2funny:

Take care and stay safe and healthy,

jane

Morning Jane. We had white rain yesterday, but instead of the 3 to 8 inches forecasted, we received barely enough to coat the ice. It's three degrees presently and clear. Without a cloud cover, it will get drier and colder, so again no humidity, and no snow.

maryz

We had scattered showers today, but nothing significant.  And temps predicted to be in the mid-to-upper 70s - definitely warmer than usual.

The gal across the hall from me turned 100! today. She's a sharp lady and very nice. Good to see her doing well.

Good morning friends...we are back to warm humid weather...hard to believe it's November..Jane hope you get good reports. On your test/scans...For some reason I h@ve been dizzy the last 3 mornings..always something...then I remind my self I'm probably having old age quirks..Mary hitting 100 is indeed a blessing and to be doing well and sharp..Hi Patrica and others looking in...haven't seen Marlyin post lately...and Jeanne...glad tomorrow is Election Day...tired of the commercials...have a good week and stay healthy and safecolor]

patricia19

Good morning, minus three and cloudy this morning at 5.41 am. Snow is forecast again on Tuesday, but supposedly light accumulation. Does that mean we're going to be dumped on?

That's nice hearing about the woman reaching 100. MaryPage is aiming for that as well.

I'm not expecting to go that far, as, for some reason, both sides of the family have trouble passing 87. Being a hard-working church member or dissolute seems not to affect surpassing that milestone.

Afternoon, Patricia, Darlene, Mary.  YIKES, Patricia, on the ice.

I hope MaryPage, Sharon, Jeanne, and Marilyn are ok.

It's up to 47 now, but wind has a chill to it.  I've been on the phone to rheumatology to get an appt next week changed. It's for 4:00 so with delays, etc., I'd be driving home in the dark.  Something I don't like doing, esp by myself when farmers are out on the roads with huge equipment and very minimal lights.  They called me back in about an hour and I now go a week later by at 11:40.  MUCH better for me.

I also got a small load of clothes cleaned and to WalMart for a few groceries.

Now to watch my MSNBC Nicolle Wallace and relax with a cup of tea.

As Darlene said, I'll be glad for tomorrow to come...though very nervous about the outcomes.. and will be happy to have the ads end.

I got a text alert that colds and flu were high in this area.  So, I stay home in my cocoon!

Take care and stay safe and healthy,

jane

Be sure to vote tomorrow (if you haven't voted early.).

Highs in the mid to upper 70s this week! and then to highs in the 40s on the weekend. Such fun!

:granny2: I'm so happy this evening! Maintenance came, fixed the kitchen faucet that was leaking around the base, and replaced the sprayer. They also fixed two wonky doors on the kitchen island, and wonderfully, they agreed that my fridge was played out, essentially a big box. So, they brought me a BRAND NEW FRIDGE!!

They got an emergency call but swore they'd return tomorrow to fix the wonky cupboard with the warped drawer guides and bring me a new faucet for the bathroom that has also been leaking from the base.

They worked quickly and efficiently and didn't argue about something not needing repair. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the thrice-delayed structural inspection by the bigwigs in early December, right... right?

MaryPage

I'm here.
Just super busy, and looking in before crashing in bed.  Too tired these days for ANYthing.

I did tell all of my children to vote early or by mail and stay close to home on Election Day.  I've always been a scaredy cat, and my logic is that I am afraid of Election Day violence.  We used to say: "Better safe than sorry."

Patricia, I have been reading a very great deal of mind-popping stuff about what is and what is not genetic for, oh, at least a decade now.  What they have learned is just UNbelievable and blows my mind.  How long we live is absolutely genetic, so if we don't get murdered or in some inescapable accident, we will accomplish the ages of our ancestors because we are programmed so to do.  Well, some really bad behavior such as addiction can change our fate.  I have tons of old folk on my family tree.  Time will tell; but I do think my 40 years of smoking, albeit it was very light smoking broken by long periods of going off the smoking entirely, were bad news.  And now I've been completely off of it since 1983.  We'll see.

Jane, I am ever so fond of Nicolle Wallace, too.  When I'm not watching PBS, I have MSNBC on.

jane

Patricia....HURRAH for all the repairs and a new fridge!

MaryPage...so good to see you.  I agree with you on the violence.  So glad I live in a small town...though it can happen here, too, I guess.

I'm off in a bit for a much needed haircut and then back home for a quiet afternoon until the election results start to come in.

Stay safe and healthy,

jane

I haven't seen these next two videos about what to do in Juneau vs what locals do in Juneau,

I visited Juneau briefly (by boat) 10 or so yrs ago.  I loved all the cities & towns we visited.

It's a cool morning here, but temps are to plummet in the next couple days.  I suppose you all saw the snow and blizzard the far northern states are getting.

I suppose like everyone, I'm pleased by some results...and not so much by others...like Iowa returning an 89 yr old to the Senate!

Hi Gals, As usual, I've been busy, but also was sick with a cold, probably caught on the plane, but who knows. It wasn't severe, mostly phlegm and congestion. I was tested for Covid just to be safe, but was negative.

I got a mani/pedi one day and shopped at Walgreen's on Sr. Day. Voted yesterday. Getting PT twice a week to help strengthen my legs. Played bridge all afternoon yesterday. Had mostly lousy cards.

I've had more problems with the newsletter. First, Microsoft locked me out of the Outlook email on my office computer and it has all my articles and pictures people have sent in so far. Our director is finally going to work on it tomorrow. Also, they sold the apt. I was using as an office, so they had to find another vacant one and move all the stuff to it. What a headache! Consequently, I haven't even begun the Nov. issue which should already be out!

Weather here has been up and down. A week ago we had 80 degrees, yesterday 60 something and today in the ow 70's. Supposed to get hit with rain and wind from the new hurricane Fri & Sat.

Jane, I hope that the Dr. confirms that it is just arthritis causing your pain. Keep us informed.

Patricia, lucky you getting all the fix-ups and the new fridge. Don't envy your weather though.

Darlene, check with your Dr about your dizziness. It may be the result of your BP med. John had that. The other thing that commonly causes it is dehydration, so drink lots of water--particularly in your location.

Mary, we have a lady turning 100 this month here. Very active & lucid. Still plays bridge and takes walks with her walker and swims in our pool. Amazing!

Mary Page, glad you're getting out some.

All of you stay safe and enjoy the fall weather.  We will be leaving for FL to see Melanie next week. Probably won't post till I get home.

Good morning...Sharon I did tell my Dr about the dizziness...he did change my B/p med ...again..I'm thinking might be inner ear problem so have appt with ENT..on the 21 of this month....Have a great day all

Tomereader1

CottonCandy, please let me know the results of your visit with the ENT.  I need to find one and make an appt.  My inner ear has been givng me fits for the past couple of weeks.  So dizzy, if I look up or turn my head quickly, feels like I'm going to crash.  I used to do those Epley excercises for it, but doesn't seem to work now.  My PCP said there is nothing in that ear. (Probably nothing in the area just behind the ear too! LOL)

alpiner1

I saw the pulmonary dr. yesterday & even though the CT scan didn't show any cancer the dr. said it showed why I'm having breathing problems . The muscle under my right ribs is pushing on my right lung . He is referring me to a heart dr. .  He said to continue  using oxygen at night & if I will be doing much walking .

patricia19

Wishing you could take a calming drive in nature's lovely scenery? This beautiful drive in Canada's Vancouver's sea-to-sky highway is a pleasure to sit back and enjoy.

maryz

alpiner glad you're seeing the doctors. I hope they'll be getting a handle on your problems.

Patricia, BC, Alberta, and Alaska have such beautiful scenery!

The bottom fell out of our thermometers today. After a "high" of 62 at 6 am, the temp fell and has barely come out of the 30s the rest of the day. This is after our highs near 80 last week.
 Welcome to Tennessee weather! Brrrrrrrr

Mary, here is another Canadian adventure. This one, provided by Lvfree Adventures is my fourth season walking in this neighborhood, and absolutely none have disappointed.

Just a note. Busy week ahead. PT Tues & Wed, Hair cut Wed, Bridge Tues.  Newsletter still status quo. Maybe ready on Tues to work on but still won't have time till the following Monday, since we're leaving on Thurs.  We woke up to Mary's cold weather this AM. Supposed to be cold all week.  Traecy (in St. Louis) said they went from 80 degrees one day to 3 or 4" of snow 2 days later! Weather is crazy.

Darlene, glad you checked in with the dr.

Marilyn posted on FB that her MRI didn't show cancer in her lungs, so that's good.  Good for Alpiner too.

Jane, hope you find out something from your doctors, too.

Have been to church & lunch and now need to do my pills for the week and fold the clothes I washed yesterday.  Not much other news. Post when I return from FL.

Stay well. Sharon

Cottoncandy

Hi everyone..it is cool here today..nice weather for a change...I must have missed reading about Marlyin..glad she doesn't have cancer in her lungs...was she diagnosed with it somewhere else..? I have a precious new great great granddaughter named Georgia. Mae..weighed a little over 6lbs...may get to see and hold her Christmas...Hi to all reading..I went to my brothers house yesterday for a early thx dinner....was really good and to be with family....

MaryPage

Congrats on Georgia Mae!  News of her arrival has me humming and singing an old song:  "Georgie Girl!"  Remember that one, anyone?

Alpiner has givrn me great hope, as I have been worrying about the fact that my bad breathing does not seem as taken care of by my oxygen as one might hope.  I have a call in now with MY pulmonologist.  I already have a cardiologist on tap.  Maybe progress can be made now that I know it could be something else is messing up the works.
Thank you for sharing that, Alpiner!

alpiner1

MaryPage you are welcome !  I had a pain under my right ribs this morning & it was a relief to know what was causing it .  The pulmonary doctor said some thing about a medication that could be taken to lower the blood pressure in that area . It doesn't seem possible to me .

Afternoon, Buddies from a cold and snowy Iowa.
It's been snowing since Monday night but streets are warm enough that nothing is sticking there.

I was going out this morning to see if my car was fixed...needed a new Touch Screen thing...and here she was sitting in the snow and cold.  Poor Baby.  She's used to being in a garage.  So I got her brushed off, warmed up and went down to get her out of debt at the dealership.  Pricey...but first real expense I've had on her since we bought here in late 2013...she's a 2014, so I can't complain.  Last year I bought her new tires and a battery.

So, once I paid her bill, I went on to WalMart for a new lithium battery for my smoke alarm that was driving me crazy with beeping in the basement.  Back to drug store to get 10 pills to last until the end of the month when I'm to go off Evista and get a prolia shot. My script was up, so they have to call and then said I could get just 10 pills.  Those suckers are a bit pricey.

My appt with the hematologist was scary.  I have some sort of monoclonial whatever that only 5 people in a 100 have...lucky me....huh...and it can lead to nasty things.  So, they'll keep an eye on it.  He then sent me for blood work...and MORE XRAYS....like 15 more...yep, xray of every bone in my body.  I think Dr. Singh, the rheumatologist will 'splain all of this to me at my appt at the end of the month.

Spending a lot of time here inside and enjoying my gas fireplace and my ipad!

Lots of flu and rsv here.... Stay safe and healthy,

jane

maryz

jane, is that an early snow - or about usual? Sorry about your hematology, etc., problems. I hate the thought of having something "out of the ordinary". Fingers crossed from here. Keep us posted.

Just been BRRRRRR cold here. We're certainly not accustomed to highs in the 30s - especially in November. And for several weeks at a time.

Stay warm, Buddies!

Mary Page, I have been mulling over your comment re: 02 not doing as you hoped. I wonder if you are experiencing a little shortness of breath with exercise such as taking a shower. When we exercise our heart rate goes up and we need more 02. So what the cardiologist has me doing increase the 02 rate, For example: shower instead of 2 liters I go to 3. Walk to car same. This has helped me. I hope this makes sense for you.
