When my last drip coffee machine quit, I looked at the different machines that used pods but saw those as a great moneymaker for the companies and not for a consumer.

My Cuisinart, makes 14 cups, which is fine as I like to buy the coffee beans and daily grind them myself for fresher flavor. Also, while it says 14 cups, it's actually more like eight servings.

Goodness - all this with coffee pots makes me convinced my old fashioned way is best for me - For the past about 25 years now I use an electric kettle to  boil water for either  a cup of tea or several cups of coffee - since I seldom if ever drink more than 2 cups a day a Melitta cone with a paper filter works perfectly - I have a small cone that I can do 2 cups and set one cup aside to reheat later or a larger one that does 4 cups that works when my daughter visits - over the years I've had to replace the electric kettle twice and each time I get the newest version from Salton - a brand I've used since the early years of my  marriage in the 1950s.

As to a cleaning mixture that works for me even removing the scale from hard water is lemon juice over baking soda - I was surprised a year or so ago to find baking soda comes now in a shaker container like nearly any cleaning powder which is great for sprinkling in tea cups to get out that dark stain.

Like you Patricia, my daughter prefers buying beans that she grinds for each pot of coffee - I like the sack of coffee already ground and keep my coffee on my counter in a covered canister. Also on my counter is an empty container that I empty the used grounds into so I can toss them either on the lawn or in the garden.

Crass I know but I do like the flavored coffees and currently I'm drinking Georgia Pecan - I usually get about 4 one pound sacks that is ground in the store while I wait and once home immediately put them in the freezer so that when I open a sack it is almost like freshly ground.

OH yes, and tea if you haven't tried, Amazon has the best Elderberry tea - the one I like best believe it or not is sold as a medicine - Traditional Medicinals Tea, Organic Immune Zoom Elderberry Echinacea, Supports Immune Function - don't know if it has done anything for me but at $4.99 a box it is one of the tastier teas I've had. Much tastier then the one they label Nature Wanted

We've had a week now of overcast or rain and muggy muggy muggy - I really need to get out there tomorrow and throw some fertilizer around - more rain this week and hopefully not a frog croakier that would wash away rather than soak in the fertilizer.
