Thanks so much, Patricia, for chasing down the mystery of the missing.

Marilyne

Patricia,  Thanks for letting everyone know about Barb and Joanne (Tome).  I tried  to contact both of them, but failed.  The situation with Barb sounds serious, so hoping she will be okay?

Ciaobella,  Our air quality is bad too.  Lots of wildfires going on here in
CA, coming from three different directions, so the dirty air will continue on, until the fires are under control, and a good ocean breeze kicks in. Until then, it's best to stay inside.

MarsGal,  I left you a message in Library~Bookshelf.

Good to know, said on our tv news that today is " world chocolate day " so the rest of the year i am assuming chocolate is off our list....Just who thinks these days up?  ::)

Trying to think of her name but we once had a female member, her name escapes me as i think she used a couple of different avatar names, although Molly is one that springs to mind...She had a Turkish husband...If i remember he was a teacher at a school or university, so they had to live separately, she in America, he in Turkey, hope i have got my facts right...Oh how she loved her " Hershey " chocolate bars, i so remember we had some laughs on here over her love for " Hersheys "...She was such a lovely person...

Now look out for Wednesday July 23rd, " national gorgeous grandma day "

Marilyne

Yes Jackie, I too have wondered who's in charge of thinking up these special days like "World Chocolate Day"?   One I remember here that caught on for a few years and then faded away, was - "Take Your Daughter To Work Day", mostly aimed at fathers.  I think this was back in the 80's or 90's?  "National Gorgeous Grandma Day" on the 23rd?  Something tells me that one will not blossom into a major holiday?   ::)

Yes, I also remember Molly.  I think she lived in Washington DC, where she had formerly worked? I recall her husband being from Egypt?  He was a college professor there, and only came to the US a few times a year to visit her.  She wrote interesting messages in lots of the discussions here in S&F, for quite a long time.  Then she disappeared, with  no explanation, and never returned?

phyllis

Marilynn, Molly was a professor at one of the DC universities and that is where she met and married a professor from Egypt. He did not want to leave his family or his university  position  in Egypt but married Molly so he could travel back and forth without going through the requirements set by immigration officials.  Part of the agreement was that he could live and work in Egypt but was also required to live with Molly for a period of time each year to retain his USA immigration status.  When she retired from teaching she moved to N.C. to be near her son from  previous  marriage,  who was an army chaplain here at Ft. Bragg.  She moved to a town near Charlotte.  She hadn't been here very long when she became ill with what I think was a blood infection and died.  Can't be sure if that caused her death but seem to remember that is what it was.  She was an interesting person and wrote very interesting posts that I always liked reading.

Marilyne...

...yes you are right, Egypt not Turkey..I think someone once posted she had passed away...I vaguely remember her posting of falling on hard flooring inside a church, something about near the baptismal font, whether that was anything that led to her death afterwards...Yes her posts were very interesting..

patricia19

Phyllis, thanks for the information about Molly. I remember her just seeming to disappear and while I didn't know her or her circumstances well, I had always enjoyed her posts.

MarsGal

Phyllis, I am sorry to hear that Molly passed. I hadn't heard. I always enjoyed her posts.

Well, darn. The dentist found a cavity this morning when I went for my teeth cleaning and check-up. So it is back to the dentist on Wednesday.

It is hazy sun and partly cloudy. Right now, Microsoft's weather says it is 87oF and the humidity is at 63%. It felt like a rather pleasant drive this morning.

The new sheets that arrived yesterday are now ready for me to put on the bed. I don't think my back is going to like it since the mattress is way heavier than I expected. When I was looking at bed wedges last night I ran across a set of sheet fasteners I think might help keep the sheets in place. Now, how am I going to coordinate putting those on while holding a way heavy mattress? What I need is a car-jack kind of thing to lift the mattress.

MG, Excellent! You should copy right that idea and sell it! You could make a mint! 😁

patricia19

MG, do you have a sofa cushion or something you could slide under the mattress with one hand or use your knees to push after lifting, to hold a space?

Her name was Mahlia.

Bubble, thank you for posting the picture of Molly and her husband Mohamed.  I remember that I also had that picture, and probably still have it saved in one of my photo folders?  I also have a pic of our member from  The Isle of Man.  I can't recall his name right now, but he posted in the Pop Music Quiz, as well as the other Trivia Quizzes.
