Dust If You Must
by Rose Milligan

Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
To paint a picture, or write a letter,
Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
Ponder the difference between want and need?

Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
Music to hear, and  books to read;
Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

Dust if you must, but the world's out there
With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
This day will not come around again.

Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
Old age will come and it's not kind.
And when you go (and go you must)
You, yourself, will make more dust.

Abe And Esther Are Flying To Australia
An old couple, Abe and Esther are flying to Australia for a two-week vacation to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Suddenly, over the public address system, the Captain announces,
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I am afraid I have some very bad news
Our engines have ceased functioning and we will attempt an emergency landing
Luckily, I see an uncharted island below us and we should be able to land on the beach
However, the odds are that we may never be rescued and will have to live on the island for the rest of our lives!"
Thanks to the skill of the flight crew, the plane lands safely on the island.
An hour later the old man Abe turns to his wife and asks,
"Esther, did we pay our $5,000 PBS pledge check yet?"
"No, sweetheart," she responds.
Abe, still shaken from the crash landing, then asks,
"Esther, did we pay our American Express card yet?"
"Oy, no! I'm sorry
I forgot to send the check," she says.
"One last thing, Esther
Did you remember to send a check for the Visa and MasterCard this month?" he asks.
"Oh, forgive me, Abie," begged Esther.
"I didn't send that one, either."
Abe grabs her and gives her the biggest kiss in 40 years.
Esther pulls away and asks him,
"So, why did you kiss me?"
Abe answers,
"They'll find us."

Obedience is not enough. Unless he is suffering, how can you be sure that he is obeying your will and not his own?

Power is in inflicting pain and humiliation. Power is in tearing human minds to pieces and putting them together again in new shapes of your own choosing. Do you begin to see, then, what kind of world we are creating?

It is the exact opposite of the stupid hedonistic Utopias that the old reformers imagined. A world of fear and treachery and torment, a world of trampling and being trampled upon, a world which will grow not less but MORE merciless as it refines itself.

Progress in our world will be progress towards more pain. The old civilizations claimed that they were founded on love or justice. Ours is founded upon hatred. In our world there will be no emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self-abasement. Everything else we shall destroy -- everything.

Musings of a Dog
by Vivien Wade

It's very nice to be a dog,
And sit at my master's feet
To be fed, groomed and loved,
And go walkies down the street

But I think I'd rather be a cat
Having long sharp claws,
To climb high up into trees,
I can't do that with my paws.

Maybe I should be a fish,
And swim each day in the sea,
For then I wouldn't need a bath,
How wonderful that would be.

A bird, a rabbit, even a mouse,
At times I would like to be,
But when I stop and really think
The best thing to be is me!

patricia19

Bubble, once more a wonderful new beginning to yet another hopefully better than the past months!

I do enjoy the points to ponder you choose and Phyllis's serene PSP.

Thank you, for another new start.

Not much to report yet this morning. It should be a fairly decent day today, staying in the mid to high 70s. Should be sunny a bit later today.

My sister and I are going over to Hoss's for lunch today.

I started Oscar on a calming food supplement the vet suggested from Nutramax to see if it helps keeping him from pulling his fur out. He has been leaving bunches of fur for me to pick up two or three times a day lately. Shan starting this new round of fur pulling by tackling him last week. At least I think that is what started it up again.

Amy

Good morning..

Shhh....the temp is 40° don't want to wake it and have it go sky high!!!

Work was accomplished with wheels on wagon, new top on it and generator put on the wagon. Neighbour came over and gave me a hand lifting it. Later on in the day he phone to say listen!! I could hear  baby crows cawing then he said go feed your crows!  :2funny: I did for the 4th time that day.

Work inside  today playing catch up on chores that didn't get done. Frist need to go into town to pick up a few things . Town will be a can of worms, with tourists from all over coming to the events being held so I hope to beat the rush.

Jane , so good to see you in here!!!  :smitten:

MG, our animals sure worry us, not eating, pulling hair out and not being able to tell us the reason.  Hope the new food works. I  wonder if the med Jane told me about would work from your cats? Called Rescue Remedy, might be something to look into???

Patricia, hope your birthday yesterday was a good one..

Rick, cooler temps here today got to love tat. Yesterday we did have some smoke from the west but not the hot temps.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning, Everyfriend!  Today is my day off from Cooper.  He's not here because my granddaughter has the day off today!  I've already taken my walk and put drops in my eyes and checked the stuff on my phone that calls me daily.

I love hearing the things that keep you all busy.  And I love BUBBLE's openings for the new month!  I'll be back to see what's going on later.  I wish you all a great day!  Don't forget to let us know what you did.  We've very interested...or is that word "nosy"?

Here too. Made it all the way down to 62° last night. Luckily I remembered how to shut the A/C off. I thought I heard it give a big sigh. Today might be a good day to clean the filters. Cooler is nice, but it is wet - not raining right now, but wet out there.

HI JANE!!!! Glad you are back.

I will look into it, Amy. Oscar is now off the Prednisone. I found out that the vet's office in Camp Hill gave me the wrong Prednisone meds, last time, for Oscar. It was straight up Prednisone. The vet was upset when I mentioned the refill was round pills rather than oblong. I should have been given the oblong pills, specially formulated for cats. Cats can't utilize regular prednisone very well.

OnLonelyMountain

Good morning all,
Really enjoyed the posts this morning! Been having internet difficulties. Ron is taking a few days off this week. He joined our daughter and her family in Puget Sound, then headed over to Victoria on Vancouver Isl. He has so much to do, he hasn't had time to put up the booster permanently yet. We're both slowing down; everything takes so much longer than it used to.

Rescue Remedy is flower essences. Its the same solution for pets/people and non-toxic. Works great!

Its 64° this morning. Expecting more T-storms and there is a myth of rain. We had T-storms yesterday starting around 4:00 p.m.. The only rain we  saw was an occasional smattering. People in other parts of this region had flood warnings. Forecast for rain is greater. We'll see.

I decided to take another whack at that big log and managed to finagle 5 more chunks. I limbed and stacked several more pushed over trees. Those Gkids were very busy! I came in to rest. Around 11:00 Kato started carrying on like crazy. I went out to see what was going on. He was barking and looking at something along the side of the RV. I peeked around the corner, rattlesnake! Coiled, buzzing and ready to strike! He was 15 feet away. I told Kato to get back, drew my 9mm and started shooting. I wanted to shoot him in the head. I emptied my clip into him. He was still alive. I couldn't believe I missed! I went back in and got my revolver with the snake loads and my machete. I hadn't recently cleaned the revolver. In 8 years I've never seen a rattlesnake. My daughter saw one up were I get the best cell service. Its rocky and drier. My revolver misfired; wouldn't shoot at all. The oil gummed. I took a long walking stick and moved the snake, who was headed for underneath the RV back. I got my other clip, and put another 6 rounds into him. He wasn't looking so good anymore. I used the walking stick to pin down his head, then whacked it off with the machete. I hadn't missed him as much as I thought. He was full of holes. Ron told me "snakes are really hard to kill."

Since I've not seen any rattlers down here, and archery season is soon to start, and I get harassment, malicious mischief etc, every year before and during the season, as well as poachers. And the afternoon before this I smelled ciggie breath really strongly... I called LEOs and filed an incident report: suspicious activity. One of the people who's contended with property owners up here hunts snakes. Could be live to sell. He's been doing it so long he feels entitled to hunt on other peoples property. He actually shot a guy preventing him, before my time here. I've seen an old guy in camo on my property spying on me. I've smelled him quite a bit. LEOs don't act on smell testimony, its not conclusive enough, but I still have to report it.

Glad to see Jane back!

My time is basically spent by  :study:  :sleepy:  All I could post daily  is "Ditto"!

Amy

Rick, we have windows and doors open and a lovely breeze blowing through!
OLM, yes they can but the one has a wee bit of alcohol in it.

Yes, Rescue Remedy formulated for humans is generally safe for pets, but the pet version often uses glycerin as a preservative instead of the alcohol-based preservative in the human version. While the human version is safe in small amounts, the pet version is often preferred due to the lack of alcohol. Both can be added to water or food, or applied directly to the pet's paws or gums.

Callie, good to see you! I am doing your DD today..floors are washed ,chocolate zuchinni cake in oven and now to go sew. :)

Bubble thank you for the new start, really enjoyed it and I am passing some along to friends. Thank you!

Good morning, it's 64 and sunny at 9:25 am and heading to 80 for a high.

Amy, I did enjoy my birthday, I received two cakes  :D ,  Then on the fourth, I'm being taken out for breakfast and shopping.

Glad to see everyone back and posting again!

I agree, don't use the human rescue remedy on animals. I've used it, pet version, mainly for times like loud noises, fireworks and when I have to lock Farrah in the bedroom.

Unfortunately, I'll be doing that for the 4th, 5th, and 7th, while the drain dismantle people are in between 8 to 5pm to fix their "mishap."

Rick, I cleaned it right after: reloading my 9mm, cleaning my machete, burying the head, removing the body. I'm not oiling it anymore. That's what gummed it up.

Good morning...

Another lovely morning...temp is 41° can deal with that! Doing light work around home then taking hubby to the Dr. this afternoon.  Dr is on holidays for a few weeks but is coming in today  for folks.

Jane ,so good to have you back. Enjoy your walk with Cooper.I see the store has small cukes for dills and may get 1/2 bushel for dills and pickles. Our beets are also ready to pull to do pickled beets. Made mustard yesterday, did 3 batches so we have some to give away.

Rick, hope you are getting these cooler days. Will make it a lot nicer on the electricity bill!!

Patricia,ok.TWO cakes!! by chance was one chocolate?

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone.
Its 58°F. There is mist on the meadow. I didn't think we had enough rain for mist, but there it is. :o Ron arrived at 10:00 last night. He is bound and determined to start the insulation today.

Amy, pickles and mustard! Yumm😋. How is your hubby doing?

Patricia, two full size cakes? Did you have people to share them with? How lovely!

I'm still cleaning the forest. Might do some laundry and mending today. I heard back from the last lawyers firm. They declined to take my case. They did give me two leads. I'm waiting to hear back from the first one I tried. I'm also waiting for my EI's replacement to schedule my video apt. He needed time to review my records. Did I tell you I'm making the apt. to establish a baseline before they poison me?

Nice to see you again Jane!

Have a lovely day everyone🙂

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I think it's still morning!  I've been getting a lot done around here, including turning off the light in my shed when my neighbor called me to tell me it was on!  Cooper is here today and he had his breakfast and a nice walk and then we spent about a half hour out in the yard.  New he's sleeping in the living room.

I read the paper and I have the crossword puzzle laid out to tackle later.  My morning eyedrops are finished and I'll be at the afternoon ones when afternoon tells me it's here!

There's not a lot of stuff going on in my old age but I'm sure glad to be around to see it!

I enjoy all the things you all write and I look forward to reading it daily.  I wonder how DENVER is doing.  She was having some rough times!

I guess I better get some more stuff done around here.  I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way and don't forget to tell us how you did that!  Maybe we can do that, too!

Don't forget about rust.

Good morning, 55 and sunny with a coming high of 75.

Nothing new here except for moving everything under the sinks back onto the living room shelves for the fourth, fifth, and seventh. Plus, my Monday birthday breakfast is off, because an order was changed and will be here on Monday, while I'm barred from my apt., between 8-5 for the drain dismantle folks. I'll need to hang out in the lobby...what an unexpected thrill.

My two cakes were both the size of an extra large cupcake, one applesauce and one lemon so no chocolate and one is still in the fridge.

We had yesterday's high at 79 and starting Sunday, the rain is expected. Other than that, Farrah's good and the meet and greets are too.

[/b]Good Morning Everyfriend!  This will just be a quickie because I have to hop in the shower and get ready for Church.  My DIL Sarah is dropping me off and I have to be ready when she gets here.

Good morning all!
It was right around 80°F yesterday, and a relief. Ron got the hopper vent installed in the bathroom. The he began the insulation. He put in the batts in the bedroom and down the hall, then went up and insulated the loft wall. Today he'll insulate the roof above the loft. He'll apply plastic vapor barrier over everything he insulated and vacuum again. I can't go in until thats done. Too much lung damage.

Rick, yep watching out for rust. 👍 I've been surprised to discover iopropyl has enough "oil" to inhibit rust. I'll treat any rust directly if it shows up.

Jane, who left the shed light on?

Patricia, that's the perfect size.😀 I made my own birthday cake. A buttery pudding cake with chocolate chunks swirled in. Best eaten warm. Yumm!😋

Its 55°F this morning. Rain and T-storms forecasted. I need to get moving if I want to get any outside work done.
