Smiling is infectious,
You catch it like the flu,
When someone smiled at me today,
I started smiling too.

I passed around the corner,
And someone saw my grin,
When he smiled I realized,
I'd passed it on to him.

I thought about that smile,
Then realized its worth,
A single smile, just like mine,
Could travel round the earth.

So, if you feel a smile begin,
Don't leave it undetected.
Let's start an epidemic quick,
And get the world infected.

There is nothing worse than a Doctor's Receptionist who insists you tell her what is wrong with you in a room full of other patients.

I know most of us have experienced this, and I love the way this old guy handled it.

A 65-year-old man walked into a crowded waiting room and approached the desk.

The Receptionist said, 'Yes sir, what are you seeing the Doctor for today?'
'There's something wrong with my pecker', he replied.
The receptionist became irritated and said, 'You shouldn't come into a crowded waiting room and say things like that. '
'Why not, you asked me what was wrong and I told you,' he said.

The Receptionist replied; 'Now you've caused some embarrassment in this room full of people. You should have said there is something wrong with your ear or something and discussed the problem further with the Doctor in private.'

The man replied, 'You shouldn't ask people questions in a roomful of strangers if the answer could embarrass anyone. The man walked out, waited several minutes, and then re-entered.

The Receptionist smiled smugly and asked, 'Yes??'
'There's something wrong with my ear,' he stated.

The Receptionist nodded approvingly and smiled, knowing he had taken her advice.. 'And what is wrong with your ear, Sir?'
'I can't piss out of it,' he replied.
The waiting room erupted in laughter...

Amy

Good morning

Starting out at 41° and a clear blue sky.
Yesterday we had enjoyed the company of my friend's daughter and husband. We both miss her mom who passed 1 1/2 years ago. We reminisced sharing stories of good times and bad. When they were ready to go pickles, hot mustard and fresh beets went with Them.

Today we are to get company this morning then I am going to clean up more trug beds.
There were no fireworks last night and not likely tonight as folks will be heading home.

Bubble enjoyed the new start..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!

BUBBLE, you always do such a great job of opening up a new month!  I love everything you put in the new beginning!  What would we ever do without you!!!

I'm being picked up this morning by a handsome young man and taken to brealfast at Cathy's house.  The handsome young man is my grandson who is visiting her this weekend!  He lives in the Philadelphia area and he doesn't get up this way often so I'm looking forward to this visit! His wife is off visiting her family friends too.

When I get back, I'll be waiting for a call from Oklahoma!  Cindy already set it up.  All the kids will be at her house and I'll ke to talk to three of my greatgrands!  Also a Granddaughter and her husband!  I'm looking forward to THAT CALL!

Gotta throw a load in the washer, too!  I need some clean pants this week.  I'm shrinking out of all my jeans.

I wish you all a happy holiday!  Make the best you can of it!  And come by tomorrow and tell us what you did!  We love to hear the news!

Happy September Oneth!

I'm still here and hope someone recognizes me.

The weather in Oklahoma has been crazy for the past month!  It's over 100º one day and the next day it's in the 60º.  We've also had flooding; it's nice to have the rain - but not all at once.

When I look at my August calendar, I see most days have been med appointments, various regularly scheduled household workers and, occasionally, family members who usually bring a meal to share. I have a Home Helper one afternoon a week to help me with errands and other things.

One of the yard workers discovered two hornet nests - one on a patio post and one in a cabinet on the patio.  :o  Orkin came to get rid of them - and, since I have them spray the perimeter every other month - they didn't charge me for the extra trip.

Grandson is getting married on Sept. 20th.  I'm not going to the parties but will go to the wedding which is at a "venue" - not a church. That seems to be a "style" nowadays, as is having a Taco Bar or a food truck for the reception (they're having a pizza truck) and registering on-line with a company who lists gifts the couple wants and other information. I just figured out how that works; hope I did it right!

And that's what's going on in my world.
Hope Everyfriend has a Wonderful Day and Week and Month.... :smitten:

Amy

Hi Callie

My gosh, temps over 100° is not nice!! We have often said if it wasn't for Dr appointments we wouldn't go anywhere!

Company has left and now get back to making windows giggle.....not my favourite job but it sure beats cleaning chickens.. :2funny:

Patricia, where are you??

Thanks, Bubble, for using my Sleeping Fairy graphic.  I especially like the Smile poem.  Maybe a smile would restore this troubled planet to a safer place to live for all of us.

I agree,  Callie.  If  I didn't have any service appointments  however, I wouldn't need all these calendars I try to keep up with, would I?

I am watching the bluebirds on my front lawn right now as I am exercising. They make me smile.  :)

Amy, it isn't unusual to have 100º+ temperatures in an Oklahoma August.  What's different this year is the 60º's!!!! That usually not until the end of September!

Phyllis, my calendar used to be filled with organizational events, volunteer hours and Bridge Clubs. I don't drive anymore and my mobility problems and hearing loss make it hard for me to be in meeting places and groups.  :(

I have two feeders, two suet feeders and a hummingbird feeder. I enjoy sitting in my windows and watching the birds.  Also have a rabbit in the evenings and, occasionally other critters.  I looked out one time and saw 10 wild turkeys perched on the fence and around my yard!

I'm here but nothing new or different to report.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Fall has arrived in this area!  The temp this morning is 51 degrees and only heading for a high of 75 in the afternoon!

I have a dr. appt later this morning so I have to be off and get myself ready for that.  Cathy will be coming by to pick me up.  No Cooper today!  Frankie is off and maybe will be off for a while.  She has a dr. appt. too and hers might be a bit more complicated than mine!  Her mother will be arriving later today from Maryland!

CALLIE, it's nice to see you posting!  I know how it is to not drive and to look out the windows at the birdies and animals!  I do a lot of that too!

I guess I better get myself dressed and ready for pickup.  I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way.  And don't forget to stop by and share it with us.  We're the curious type!

Good morning

Chilly here but great for working in. Have a lot to do today laundry and clean out some trugs. Really enjoyed our company yesterday and sent some pickles home  with them.

Jane, hope all goes well at the Drs.

Callie, I didn't like frying this past summer and although close to 100° it  was more than enough for me.

Enjoy your day and stay safe..

Good Morning Everyfriend!

Christy is off to the dr. with Frankie and I'm here with 2 little doggies.    We've had our breakfast and our walks and now they are both sleeping on chairs in the living room.  Oh yes!  The chairs are covered!

I'm waiting for Christy to come back and tell me how Frankie is doing.  She took her to the dr. for some attention.

I wish you all a great day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  And don't forget to share it with us!  We're the curious type!

Good morning every one!
Yesterday was a rest day after morning chores. I had to take a ladder on patrol and replace a weathered "No Trespassing sign." Ialso put up a camera where I was smelling someone. Poacher. I'm getting nailed by their mosquito and tick dope and fragrances.

It got around 100°F. To hot for me. I made calls and then read a couple of L.M Montgomery novels. I'm now reading Girl of the Limberlost, by Porter. Its going to be another scorcher.

Callie, so good to hear from you! Hornets are no fun! They've certainly been prolific up here this year.

Loved the joke Bubble😄

Good morning Phyllis, watching bluebirds while exercising, sounds like a routine I could enjoy. I love bluebirds. They migrate through spring and fall.

Amy, glad to hear you had a nice time with friends. What are "trugs?" I liked "make the windows giggle." It brought a smile to my face.

Jane, I enjoy your nice breezy posts.

Patricia, I'm glad you checked in, even if you felt you didn't have anything to share.

Have a nice day everyone!

Callie, you and I lead similar lives, I think.  My  biggest problem is I refuse to accept my limitations.  I keep thinking that if I twitch my nose or click my ruby heels together everything will go back to what it used to be.  Makes me cranky when that doesn't happen.    :tickedoff:   :)

Good morning,

Amy, I grew up in Oklahoma but had lived for 14 years at 10,200 feet above sea level in Colorado. It was hard to move back to 100º temperatures. However, I moved back here 48 years ago because of husband's job, so I'm used to it!

Phyllis, I also get cranky when I think about the many activities I can no longer do!  The mobility limitations are structural and the podiatrist told me "limited walking and standing". When I asked him to define "limited" he said, "Not more than two hours out of eight".  I told him that wasn't even a good shopping trip to the Mall!!!  :2funny:

Housekeeper is here and I'm "helping" by staying out of her way.  ;)

Son is bringing dinner. I don't know what it will be - but guessing it will be Chinese.

Wishing Everyfriend a Wonderful Day  :smitten:

[/b]Now the day is over!  And I'm just about to hit the hay!

Frankie, in-and-out surgery went well.  Christy spent the day with her and I had both of the doggies.  About an hour ago, Christy came by and picked up both doggies and took them to Frankie's.  Now I'm here all alone and I will be alone for the rest of the week!

I don't have to do anything special when I get up tomorrow but I plan to take a walk while it's still cool in the morning!  And I have some kitchen things to do and another load of laundry to go through the washer.  I guess I'll find some other stuff to do.  There's always something.

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a great day tomorrow.  come by and tell us all about it!  I do love reading what you all write and seeing how you spend your time.  Keep on keeping on!

Not doing much of anything to write about, Jane.  I just finished my walking on the elliptical machine and came right back to the recliner.  I seem to be kind of tired today. I think I can make good use  of that extra hour we will get with the time change....when it happens. Hope Cooper's mom will get better quickly.

Take care,  All.

Good Afternoon Everyfriend!

I was wrong!  I'm not alone for the rest of the week.  Christy slept over at Frankie's last night but she came back here this morning.  Frankie is off until Monday and she's taking care of Cooper and napping!  Christy said she came through the in-and-out surgery very well.  She's tired and she needs some recovery time but she's OK!

And Christy is making dinner here today!  It's going to be different that the meals that Sarah and Cathy have been bringing.  I think she's heading for fresh spaghetti!  I'll go for that!

I hope you are all doing well!  Keep on keeping on!  And don't forget to stop by and let us know what's up in your area.  We're curious!

Good morning, 53 presently and partly sunny. Nothing new here, my days are basically the same, morning routines, meet and greets, making coffee and feeding everyone.

Sometimes I'll have a package due or being present for someone else's package. And sometimes I'll go out with friends for a bit of shopping and or meals with friends.

I usually have some type of lessons going on, lately it's been geography, and the animals, and customs within. I'm just starting back into PSP graphics lessons again, not much differently.

Callie, and Phyllis, how nice to see you both posting more. I can identify as winter is hard for me and my low vision and limited mobility. I've been thinking about looking into the possibility of a housekeeper.

Jane, it's nice to see you back posting regularly, although I'm sorry to hear about Frankie and hope she's soon back on par. And that you have Cooper back regularly for strolls around the neighborhood.

Good morning..

Past two days have been a tad busy and today is another one. Yesterday 15 pints of chili sauce were done and today spaghetti sauce will be canned.Need to label and put away the jars then start on the sauce.

Jane, hope Frankie is feeling a lot better today.

Callie, you're a great "helper"

Phyllis, I do understand about not being able to do the things we used to. One time I was able to take the horse feed the lenght of the barn and empty in the bins. Now if I tried to throw that over my shoulder I would go a$$ over tea kettle trying.

OLM, trugs are raised garden beds. I will try and find the photos here and show you.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, 50 degrees and still in the grip of a steady rain that began overnight, high of only 57 today. The old habit of a rainy, cool down August. Followed by a cooler but beautiful September, has not been the case this year. I was even wrong about last winter being our first with freezing rain, as a friend states it happened in the winter of 2003.

Morning routines, meet and greets, feeding everyone, making coffee, and expecting my own order today. Amy, looking out for packages for a neighbor is simply reciprocity. They look out for mine if needed.

Farrah is doing well. She recently pulled another switcheroo, now she loves and only wants wet food, dry if forced, and that sudden apathy to dry food extends to treats. She follows me from room to room or lays in the hallway where she has a direct sight line into two of those rooms. Her last vet visit went well for a thirteen-year-old cat, She's 68 in cat years. She will stay in sight for females, but a human male still sends her running for cover.

My mother came from a generational farming family, as did my father. We canned food and managed a garden acre every year, but other than my older sister, my younger sister and I never kept up the habit. Both of us, younger and me, meal prepped when we had families, not so much after. I do make up what I call bases, meat, peppers, onions, plus spices. That base gets divvied up into portions, in the freezer, awaiting any finishing touches for a different meal.

I've never swung anything over my shoulder at any time, other than a coat. Which has saved me from being as you said going a$$ over tea kettle! I can manage that by simply attempting to walk!  🤕

I sent my first group of lesson PSP graphics this morning and waiting for my moderator to look them over and return them.
