The presidential election could be delayed or scrapped altogether if conspiracy theories become predictive and a candidate dies or drops out before Nov. 8. The perhaps equally startling alternative, if there's enough time: Small groups of people hand-picking a replacement pursuant to obscure party rules.

The scenarios have been seriously considered by few outside of the legal community and likely are too morbid for polite discussion in politically mixed company. But prominent law professors have pondered the effects and possible ways to address a late-date vacancy.

"There's nothing in the Constitution which requires a popular election for the electors serving in the Electoral College," says John Nagle, a law professor at the University of Notre Dame, meaning the body that officially elects presidents could convene without the general public voting.

Dapphne, Did you see the PBS story on 9/11 aircraft hitting the pentagon? I remember you saying it was a Bush fake and conspiracy story. What is your take on it now?

Diglady, we had a small Remembrance meeting of 9-11 yesterday. It was very solemn and very touching. I was happy to be a part of it. We sang some patriotic songs, had remembrance
reading, then some of us placed a long stemmed red rose in a vase of white flowers as the leader of the program called out the names of the various sections of service that were involved...like Army, Navy, Coast Guard, etc. I felt that Firemen should be in that section too. But so many good folks were involved in rescue, it would be hard to mention all.

June, That is really wonderful. So many dead on that awful awful day!

tragedy that the US A  suffered on 9/11/1001
during the first year of the idiot Bush/evil Cheney
administration,  and all of the problems that
that crazed duo got us into HELL in the Middle East...

Yes,  something struck the Pentagon  and
I still suspect that it was a Missile that was
miss fired during that tragedy....

This woman called Hillary is wicked and to be feared. Every-time I see her embrace her husband, I think of how she "forgave" him for his philandering. She could have cared less, except that it may have diminished her in her pretense of everything being O.K., and she could use his sin to make herself look better in the public eye. It is too bad that they had a child that has had to join in the pretense of sanctity in her mother and fathers lives. Being bitter is not in my nature, but they have destroyed my belief in politics in general. And that is a great loss in a country such as ours.

Thank you Hal. I am not politically inclined but the past few years have made me much more aware of the necessity to learn not to trust what people in power say, and the disregard they show in what they actually do.

I am not sure Hillary is going to make until the election.  This woman is sick as sick can be.  They now have her so doped she can barely function.  And look at her reaction when some calls out "Hillary for Prison".  Look at the bug eyes.

Sandy, my local PBS station ran a program on 9/11 about the crash into the Pentagon by that third plane.  It showed the plane hitting the Pentagon, people trapped inside and those who were able to get out (usually wounded) and how brave the fire fighters and some of the people who worked there who helped others out to safety at the risk of their own lives.  If you Google it on PBS you might be able to watch it online.  However, it's a very depressing film although the Patriotism of those who were working there and the fire fighters who arrived quickly was simply amazing.

I also watched that PBS show.
The  did show one clip of
"something" crashing into
the Pentagon.   It was a blur
and IMHO not clear enough
to determine exactly what
it was.     

What ever it was that flew
into the Pentagon caused
a lot of pain and heart ache. 
For that, there is no doubt.   

This was just one of the
tragic events that happened
on 9/11 ....   

We who witnessed some
of those events on TV,   
certainly will never forget
this horrible occasion.   

Whether I believe that it
was a plane or  possibly
a missile ,  does not change
the horror of those events
that occurred  on Sept 11,  2001...

IMHO, 
exactly what happened,  and why
is something that we will
probably never know in our
life time.

Sandy, the program I saw on PBS showed a large airliner hitting the end of the building and exploding inside.  It was pretty gruesome, but I manage to watch until the end.  Lots of brave people inside the building helped others despite their injuries.
