Lonely Boy
Paul Anka

I'm just a lonely boy
Lonely and blue
I'm all alone
With nothin' to do
I've got everything
You could think of
But all I want
Is someone to love

Someone, yes, someone to love
Someone to kiss
Someone to hold
At a moment like this
I'd like to hear
Somebody say
"I'll give you my love
Each night and day"

I'm just a lonely boy
Lonely and blue
I'm all alone
With nothin' to do
I've got everything
You could think of
But all I want
Is someone to love

Somebody, somebody, somebody, please
Send her to me
I'll make her happy
Just wait and see
I've prayed so hard
To the heavens above
That I might find
Someone to love

I'm just a lonely boy
Lonely and blue
I'm all alone
With nothin' to do

The things we admire in men, kindness and generosity, openness, honesty, understanding and feeling are the concomitants of failure in our system. And those traits we detest, sharpness, greed, acquisitiveness, meanness, egotism and self-interest are the traits of success. And while men admire the quality of the first they love the produce of the second.

In a world where time seems to stretch on infinitely, stories never end. Each page becomes a new journey, where characters, dreams and mysteries intertwine in an eternal cycle of discovery. "Endless Tales" is an invitation to dive into narratives that unfold endlessly, taking the reader to places where imagination knows no limits. Each tale is a portal, each word an echo of an adventure to come. Here, stories are eternal, and those who venture into them never stop exploring.

That's okay, Bubble, not many of us are up that early (here).

Rammel, I tried turning my Keurig over to get rid of the water (twice), but it didn't work either time - not a drop.

The sun is just about ready to pop up. Still no sign of deer in the grass patch or along the treeline. Sigh! But the birds are repopulating the area and entertaining Oscar and Shan. Saw a flash of red whizz by the other day, but it was too fast for me to tell what it was.

My larger daffodil flower stocks are about five or six inches up out of the ground. Yesterday I noticed that only one little Tête-à-tête bud was about to bloom. This morning when I opened the blinds, I discovered at least a half-dozen of them fully in bloom.

Good morning...

A bit windy out but no new snow or rain with a temp of 24°F at the moment.

On the news last night they are asking poeple to stay in if possible, with the ice on branches they could come down. Limbs  up to 8 inches in diameter came off my friends maple and she is not sure if it will survive or should just be taken down. They say we are in for more rain/snow on Wed. Still no power is a lot of places.

Today is "whatever" needs to be done and "if" I want to do it.

Bubble, again you have out done yourself!!! Definitely well worth waiting for and if you slept in you must have needed it!  Thank you!

MG, no sign of any flower trying to bloom here, rhubarb had polkked it nose up but now covered in snow. :(

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I passed by the office on my way to bed last night and the thought crossed my mind that I should check in with all of you.  Now, when I see that it's a new month and BUBBLE has welcomed it in her special way, I'm kind I glad I kept on going down the hall.  THANK YOU< BUBBLE for all the hard work you do.  And if it's a bit late, it doesn't show to me!  Our times are so different that when I get here you're probably just about ready to close up for the day!  I loved everything in your opening!  And I appreciate all that you do for us!

AMY, it's cold here today, too!  Right now it's up to 37 but it was down in the low 39s overnight.  I'm going to ignore it because yesterday, I told myself that "SPRING IS HERE".  And later this week, it's supposed to rain 4 days in a row.  If that's not Spring weather, I don't know what is!

I'm like AMY today.  I don't know what I'm going to do.,,,,maybe something.....maybe nothing!

I wish you all a great day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  And don't forget to tell us what that was.  Maybe it'll suit our fancy, too!

I heard that Paul Anka song on the radio this week and it made me nostalgic for those old songs with nice tunes and  meaningful words.
These days songs are so "noisy" and articulated in such a way that it is difficult to catch the words.

Here too we fluctuate between sunny days and cold depressing temperatures. Lots of flu and colds around. Thankfully no talks of measles here.

Have a great day and an even greater week.
We started on the big Passover cleaning. Every year it's getting to be a harder challenge.

Assuming it is similar to mine - I have the single cup type - did you open the lever that lets the water go in? It gets messy, but it should work.

I have one of those but never had good luck with it. Maybe I'm using the wrong coffee grind, or doing something else wrong. My coffee always came out weak.

Good morning, I slept in late, so I was late getting Farrah fed and coffee on. I also use the cone filter with my coffee. I've gone through meet and greets and finished my morning routine but need to water my plants, do laundry or clean either the kitchen or bathroom.

Furthermore, I do need to take some cardboard downstairs as well. While our bagged garbage goes into a wall shoot in each laundry room, our cardboard goes to the maintenance entrance because the compacter cannot handle compressing it. Not only that, but I also need to go downtown for some necessities, but since I have the same weather as Amy and everyone is asked to stay home, I'll have to improvise.

Friday and Saturday's weather should be calmer, however, Sunday's, the 6th, will have rain then, next Monday's, 7th, snow. I read somewhere that instead of March coming in like a lion and leaving like a lamb...it's left like a polar bear.

Bubble, while I enjoy every one of your monthly intros, today's was top tier! You do amazing work for us and like so many I'm highly appreciative of each offering. I do wish I knew the author of number 6. I tried looking it up, but wasn't able to.

I grew up in the fifties, teens in the sixties, but enjoyed Paul Anka, Tom Jones, and Tony Bennet. Later, it was watching the Dean Martin show with Dean, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and many others. Nowadays, I'm fond of tenors and songs like Les Misérables, my favorite opera, to songs like Bella Ciao, Never Enough, Shallow, Sound of Silence and I who have Nothing, to name a few.

Good morning to Rick and Jane, and to any others venturing in or visiting a bit. Does anyone have Joanie, Tomereader's email? She hasn't posted since January.

Barb, I keep a bag of coffee beans in the fridge and an unopened one in the freezer for my coffee. I drink my coffee in the morning and ice water in the late afternoon and evening. I've heard that pour overs are said to make the best tasting coffee, but I like mine made in advance. For years, I had the Mr. Coffee type machines but noticed the past couple of times that the machine rarely lasted longer than three years and the coffee made with them was bland.

I did a search of reviews and ended up with this one having good reviews but a higher price. I've had it three months and changed the two-month filter once and so far, the coffee's good. It does have a cleaning cycle for every two weeks and I use water and vinegar with a couple of extra rinses. Tea is a drink I associate with illness, as we grew up with tea whenever we were sick as children. I do occasionally have a cup with friends, but it's not my usual.

MG, your weather and animal sights sound wonderful. Beside the snowshoe hares and occasional lynx, the only ones we see are moose and ravens. Most birds and animals tend to return in May.

Amy, everything here is presently covered in snow, but soon turning back to rain and more ice.

Callie, to you,  :cup:  too.

Another blah day - been blah for a week now... rainy, overcast, muggy - thank goodness the Astros are playing again so that there is something to look forward to...

Patricia I get tired of coffee and do tea for a week or so - I do like Twinings Irish Breakfast Tea best - more body than the English Breakfast. I have these individual strainers that hold enough tea for a cup so I can use tea leaves rather than the processed chopped up tea that is in most teabags

March was never one of my favorite months because the weather was so iffy - neither Spring nor Winter however, usually by April it has sorted itself out - looks like with everything running late this year even April is starting out not much different than March. At least there are signs of Spring - I wonder if it will be one of those years when overnight everything bursts out as if it had been Spring like for days... I thought we were going to be knee deep in Spring but with all this muggy, overcast, rainy weather it does not feel like taking a trip out to see the fields and fields of bluebonnets.

I just call them Lupines. The ones you have in Texas are mostly or wholly Lupinus texensis. Oh, and it is your state flower. I didn't know that. It seems that Texas likes bluebonnets so much they consider all bluebonnets that grow in Texas the state flower not just L. texensis. Until I saw a nature program focusing on the Western area, probably 30 or 40 years ago now, I thought Lupines were a European Alpine plant, nor did I know they come in other colors. We apparently have another variety (L. perennis) "imported" from the western states that grow wild now in Western PA. The park service is keeping an eye on them because they consider them invasive because they are not native to PA. Now look what you started, Barb. I've been cruising the plants native to PA pages. Our state flower, BTW, is Mountain Laurel. It is related to rhododendron.

I read everything and it all brought home memories!  Thanks for all the floral info!  When we were kids, Sunday was "lets" take the long way to Gramma'a farm".  And we saw lots of growing things along the way.  My Dad grew up on a farm and he knew what was what when we asked questions.  And when we got to the farm, we had to walk all over the place and see what was growing there!

Now I'm ready to hit the haystack!  Cooper doggie will be arriving a bit before 6 tomorrow morning and I need to be up and attem by 5 a.m.  Day starts early and that means it has to end early too!  I wish you all a peaceful nights sleep and a happy tomorrow.  Make the day your own in every way!  And don't forget to tell us how you did that!  We NEED to know!

MarsGal in the photo there is a slight line of rosy orangy red that are the Indian Paint that bloom mid bluebonnet season so that often fields and especially the sides of highways have a mixture of Bluebonnets and Indian Paint and this will be followed by a whole host of wild flowers through the month of April into May and sometimes into June according to how hot it gets or how much rain we get. There will be Indian Blanket, Primrose, Wine Cups, Mexican Hats, Coreopsis, Prickly Poppy and a few more all blanketing the highways and fields as their blooming time comes along. Quite a sight starting the end of March - best time to visit the state before the high heat.

Here is a better photo that shows the Indian Paint

Thank you, Patricia for noticing I had not been in here for awhile.  My computer has gotten so hinky, I can barely log into my main email name and pay my bills.
However, I am doing well, just not able to get into anything that requires me to stay logged in for more than 30 minutes.  It locks up and I have to go thru all sorts of permutations to even shut down.  Thought I'd better come in here and see if all was well with everyone.  I'll try to post a little bit every so often if this ancient piece of technology will hang in there for a bit.  I was getting ready to buy a new one, but just got my Homeowner's Policy bill for over $3,000 so I guess I will drive this HP until it formally dies!  Have missed reading all your missives.  Keep on keeping on!  Love, and hugs to all.

Did you know you can eat their seeds? They look like big flat pale lentils.  Here they are sold , dry, in the places selling dry beans and the like.
I soak them, boil in water with salt until they are soft enough to enjoy as a snack. Then you can enjoy them just like you eat roasted  "peanuts", with or without the outer skin which is removed easily by tearing with the front  tooth.

Didn't know that Patricia.

Jane, remember when there were tons of black-eyed Susans growing along the roadsides?

Glad to see your post Tomereader, and ouch on the RE bill.

Microsoft is still busy adding, subtracting and renaming or changing icons in the  start folder. I now have a folder promoting PopCap Games (Bejeweled, etc.); I think there used to be one years ago that I got rid of. There are also icons for Phone link (system), a PDF Converter, Tips (system), PC Health Check, a bunch of Windows system apps, and Voice Recorder which I don't think was there before. Some of these could have been there awhile and I just didn't notice them. The Windows system folder/apps on the start bar are things I automatically use Windows Settings icon which is still there. And above the Power and Setting button I have noticed an admin button, one for documents and one for pictures which I do not remember being there before. The more I think about it, I think the admin button has been there, I just forgot about it. I will be checking out some of these to see if I can get rid of them. I've already removed a few. My computer memory seems to be steadily losing free memory every time Microsoft does a new feature, or whatever, update. That is, I believe, the reason for the computer to seem slow at times lately.

Good morning..

Seems we are in for more nasty weather either rain or snow or both. David did get the power back on yesterday but a lot of others are still with out. My friend said this is day 5 for them. They do have a generator but I don't think it runs everything just the essentials.

Another day of "whatever" comes along gets done...

I am here but,  like Jane, nothing much interesting to talk about. Cool and cloudy today but up to 85 tomorrow. The trouble with spring is I never know what to wear.  Today I put on a summertime cotton house coat and a sweater over that I can take off later when it gets warmer.

In my yard the violets and perrywinkle are fading. The tiny yellow sun drops are blooming along with the pink azaleas.  The white azaleas are covered with blossoms and the red azaleas will come out next followed by the lavender ones.  The dogwoods are beautiful and David said the wisteria on the street west of us is also in bloom.  All these flowers are
loving our warm climate.

Take care, All

Good morning, and a special one to Joanne. I go to computer settings each time things seem troublesome. In computer apps settings, you can do a lot of uninstalling and deleting.

All this lovely talk about birds singing and flowers blooming. Our weather for this week will be a mix of snow and rain, along with wind gusts. My sister in Idaho is having the same temperatures, rain and wind while Amy, according to AccuWeather, has the worst of the three.

Plus, and this might surprise a few, two of Alaska's volcanos are doing some serious rumbling.

Otherwise, like Jane and Phyllis, nothing going on here worth mentioning.

Good morning..

Interesting weather here yesterday and into the night. Started off with snow not much thankfully then into rain around 9 pm.  Around midnight the rain pounded along with thunder! No rain tis   until later today and I hope not frreezing rain. My friends finally got their power back on and I will call  other friends to see how they are doing.

Picking up some groceries this morning then load our summer tires in the van to be put on tomorrow morning.I think they gain weight over winter each year..

Good to read your post Joanne.

Better start the day..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, meet and greets, morning routine, and feeding everyone is finished. I'm making only a few cups of coffee as I will be gone most of the day to do monthly shopping, bill paying, and a bit of food gathering.

I'll be going with a friend, so no bus catching or taxi taking, which will be nice in this weather. Not only that, but I'm sure the taxi pickup times will be an hour at least, so I'm happy to be spared that.

Today will be 45 and clear, but the rain returns on Saturday. Everything outside is black and gray, sheathed in ice.

Amy, why shouldn't the summer tires gain weight over the winter? I know I do. ;)

+Good morning..

We are to enjoy the sun today!  Rain took away a lot more snow, leaving puddles and small ponds in back yards. Tomorrow we will also see more rain.Good thing is, overnight they do disappear. Friends still do not have power on ,now maybe the 5th they will. This storm did a lot of damage!

Getting tires changed then home to do what needs to be done. Tried a new recipe for suppr and al;though it wasn't bad I won't make it again. Too salty from the cheese? soup?ranch dressing? but will finish it off.

Patricia, ok that does happen. If these tires gain much more I am in trouble  of getting them into the van!Thank goodness for a dog ramp to roll them up into!

Jane, how is the Cooper? Hope you are getting nicer weather for your walks.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, today is the same as yesterday, however, rain and ice return for the weekend. Those in the know, are forecasting two to three days of rain or snow until May. Long range forecast for May is warmer temperatures and sunny skies. I hope that's true!

I enjoyed yesterday, talked too much and spent too much and stayed out too long, but the day was fun!

I'm back on package detail for neighbors this weekend, but other than that, it'll be the kitchen and bathroom spring-clean.

Here's hoping everybody stays safe and that this horrible weather runs its course soon.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  OOPS!  I think I should have said "Good Afternoon".  I had a busy morning.  5 loads of laundry have made it through my washer and dryer and some are hanging in the doorways on hangers!

The birdies are chirping and I know they are laying eggs because I saw where one missed the nest.  That's one little chirpie that won't make it into this world.  I bet his mama will miss him!

Yesterday was a baking day.  I did a dinner and aome breakfast eggs.  The eggs were different from any I did before and I had one for breakfast.  It was Good and it was easier to make than the other ones.

PATRICIA, it sounds like you had a good shopping day with friends yesterday!  Yay for you!

AMY, sounds like your snow is finally melting.  That's good!  I'm in favor of SPRING!

All the rest of you, take care and enjoy the weather change!  I sure am!  I went out for a walk yesterday without a jacket!  Now that's SPRING!

I better get my last load of clothes out of the washer, fold them and put them away.  I was up at the usual time today even though Cooper didn't come.  I wake up and I can't go back to sleep.  Sounds like a good reason for a nap!

I wish you all a great day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  Make it something or nothing...it's your choice!

Well..... night time is here and I am hitting the sack. Productive day....got more than I thought I would done.
Tires changed then put away winter tire (have yet to find a safe spot where they don't gain weight)
Back yard cleaned up and all garbage taken to dump, laundry done and hung on the line.

Phyllis, that is the only way to take life. One friend said I was always smiling and she knows what is happening here. Told her that if you didn't smile you would cry and I don't have time for that! Besides if you smile, people are always wondering what you are up to. :2funny:

Jane, oh my he is so huggable. What a sweetheart.

Patricia, more rain for us tomorrow.

Spent the last couple of days trying to sort out my AC that is not working as it has or as I think it should... same problems I was having with the heat a month or so ago... trying to communicate what I hear and experience to the techs is like talking two different languages - What I say I'm experiencing to them is impossible and therefore I must be a crazy old lady - if I did not need the AC I'd chuck the whole thing but with outside humidity today at 80 and outside temp at 77 and this is still only April I can't afford to throw a hissy fit. It's a roll of the dice if I get a full night's sleep or not but here goes...

Good Morning Everyfriend.  AMY, thanks for posting the picture for me.  You'd think I could learn how to do that!

MARS. COOPER is my granddaughter's doggie who stays with me 5 days a week while she's working.  The picture is my latest Great Grandson, Isaac who lives in Texas.  I've never seen him in person but my granddaughter is bringing him to Pennsylvania at the end of this month and I'm planning to hug him and kiss him and love him up as much as I can!

Today we were planning to hit the recycling center but it's raining.  I don't know if Cathy will want to do that in the rain!  I guess we'll see!

BARB, sometimes I think the young people all think we're crazy!  We just have to let them know that what we say is the same thing they're saying.  it just come out of a different time area!  We're not dumb....just different!

I wish you all a great day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!

Good morning.

Tis a morning I would have no problem staying beneath the covers but...mouths to feed and not those just in the house.

Raining here too Jane. light rain but weatherman says it is going to pour! Have laundry to fold/iron and may bake depends on the energy.

Jane, Isaac is so cute, once you get him in your arms you won't let go!!

Better get  moving ..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning from a wet, gloomy and cold Oklahoma! SNOW is predicted overnight  ::)

Janie, Isaac is so cute!!!!!  Love that wide-eyed grin!

Barb, could you have the AC guys come and figure out what the problem is?  Might be worth the price of a house call - especially in your heat and humidity.

Having a lazy day and don't think I'll look for anything else besides library books to put on my Wish List.

Enjoy your day, Everyfriend  :balloons:

Good late morning, it's 40 degrees at 9:07 am, and we're expecting Amy's rain and later Callie's snow with an overnight temperature dip. Morning routine, meet and greets and feeding Farrah and myself is finished while I sit with a new cup of coffee.

I'm going with Ruthie at eleven to visit Claire, who's feeling somewhat housebound with our share of the horrible weather everyone's having. I'm hoping everyone stays both safe and sane during these wet and turbulent times.

Jane, Isaac is a wild eyed happy little boy and I know you can't wait to finally meet him. How's Cooper doing walking in the rain? I know some dogs love it and many others don't care for it at all. I once had a black lab, Henry, who absolutely hated rain and water. He was an anomaly for many reasons, but he loved playing with kids, and we'd hitch him to a snow sled, and he dragged us all over the place and seem to have as much fun doing it as we did.

Barb, I have the same trouble with maintenance. They want short simple answers and I tend to give analogies

Thank you all for the compliments on Isaac!  I don't know if I'll be able to give him back after I get to hug him.

PATRICIA, Cooper and I took a walk this morning and it started raining about a half block from home.  That didn't bother him but when it started to thunder, he took off for home and pulled me most of the way.  But he did take care of business while we were out.  And he chose not to go out in the yard with me later.  I coaxed him until he finally came out the door but he never went off the porch and it wasn't raining then.  But it has rained most of the day.

Right now it's not raining so I'm going to make a run to the mailbox and otherwise, I won't have as many steps as I usually do on a nice day.  Enjoy the rest of this one wherever you are and whatever the weather is!  My supper is already cooking and I must admit, I'm getting hungry!  I just might eat early!

Callie they can't figure it out however, they do not want to admit it and so they look at Paul and with knowing glances they think it is me as this crazy old lady... Paul was just here and of course like going to the Doctor when you get to the office none of the symptoms are active - why in the wee hours of the morning this acts up I will have to figure out and learn all I can about air flow, furnaces, compressors and humidity etc.

I now have a thermometer nailed not taped but yep, nailed on the wall directly above the thermostat and would you believe since it is made in China they give it no never mind and only believe the thermostat which they installed - talk about focused to having a closed mind and I pay for this and I'm the one dealing with this lordy...

Well new issues may be in the forecast - just got a Tornado watch from Montgomery County Weather something or other for this afternoon - seems a huge cold front coming in dropping the very humid heat with us for about 2 weeks that was between 76 and 84 with humidity in the 80s to a 25 degree drop in probably less than an hour - yep going down to the very low 50s - well at least if the electricity goes out, which it probably will, I now have a Generator that should kick on - making a pot of coffee now and plan on sitting on my front porch and watching the show - got my blanket ready in case it does really get as cold and they are saying.  :crazy2:

I know what you mean Barb. I was getting up around 4 or 4:30am to feed the cats. During the coldest mornings of the year I could smell gas, faint, but it was there. I would go down the basement, no smell. Go outside and come back in, no smell. It was sooo faint, and I could smell it just in the kitchen at the top of the basement stairs. It would disappear when as the temps warmed up.It took over three times of having a gas guy out to track it down to find the leak. Their fancy gas detectors didn't find it, but three is the charm so they say. The last guy did it the old fashioned way and smeared liquid soap over the pipe and fittings. Where the tiny leak was, the soap bubbled up. He said he was surprised I could smell it. Maybe you can record the sound and play it back to them the next time they come out?

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's still dark here and Cooper Doggie is waiting for me to say its light enough to go for our walk.  I'm not in favor of walking in the rain but I do it for him.  So when it's light, if it's raining, we'll still go.  Then I come back, get a shower and get ready for church at 10.

I wish you all a pleasant day.  Do whatever suits your fancy!  And don't forget to share it with us!  We're very interested!

Good morning..

Overcast today with a starting temp of 33°. A day of welcomed rest here.......aside from the normal duties it just may be a sew day.

Talked with a friend last night and they still don't have power. Crews from all over have been working non stop since last Sat to fix the outage.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning, somewhat cooler today in the thirties, with snow overnight and some snow for Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will rise again on Wednesday and Thursday.

Coffee's on, Farrah's fed and morning routines all done. Hopefully, I'll get some other projects done today as well.

Claire was feeling better during our visit yesterday. She's still missing her small holding, and the routine she and her animals had. Coming from living on a small homestead to a city is different for her, having lived on a farm or homestead the majority of her life, and so far she hasn't found a routine that works. I think it'll be easier for her in warmer weather.

Brrr still cold - front came through yesterday and had to put the heat back on - sun trying to peek through but not being very successful - heard from my younger sister trying to come to terms with death and what it will be like since the reason for the call is our cousin who is a year and a half younger than me is dying - to the doctor for a urinary track infection and found cancer - she has chosen not to do anything and is going into hospice since all this kicked off her heart issues - she never has done any email or used a computer ever and mailing for me is more difficult so I need to write to her daughter a note that she can read to her mother, my cousin.

My sister and I started talking about what we think is an afterlife - she thinks we go to some far distant planet - although I think of myself as a Christian - Catholic - since high school heaven seemed to me to be like a fairy-story - did not make sense after having seen by then many deaths and saw our body that is our earthy ID stays here on earth and our soul has no form - Later I learned our soul is energy however, what happens or where it goes I do not know because I became aware all we have to think things through or imagine is our earthly experience with our earthly brain and earthly thoughts and even earthly prayers.

There are a few throughout history that have experienced a connection, a sighting to what is not from this earth but always that connection is made with the outer being becoming something we/they can recognize from our earthly mind and body and so where our energy goes upon death is still for me a mystery.

I realize I'm not afraid of dying, I think it is like falling asleep but I am anxious about what happens afterwards - I don't think it will be bad but maybe I'm expecting to have the earthly ability to know and that isn't even in the picture --- hmm and so my brain goes on this Sunday...

Good Morning, AMY and anyone else who show up this morning!

Cooper Doggie is here, he's had his breakfast and his walk and he went out in the yard and chased everything away and then came in.  Now he's asleep in the other room.

I changed the bed and washed the sheets and they're ready for the dryer as soon as I finish here.  I have a casserole to make and then....we shall see!

I wish you all a good day.  It's going to rain here again but we made it for our walk with nothing coming down!  Do as you please today!

Good morning everyone, our promised snow amounted to barely an inch before the rains returned. Overnight snow, today, and overnight Tuesday snow is promised, although with little or no accumulation, with probably more rain.  Wednesday, warmer temperatures will prevail.

Nothing new here, morning routine, coffee perked, meet and greets done. Farrah's fed and my arthritis has returned, so it may be a day of couch and aspirin.

The weather and arthritis is the same for me, too, Patricia.  Rainy and getting colder again....we welcomed spring too early, I think. I spent the morning setting up an appointment with a lawn mowing company.  My son has done that job but now he has developed arthritis and so we need someone to do it at a reasonable cost.  The man I spoke to this morning seems promising...I hope.

I had a busy day today and I'm so tired right now that my eyes just want to slam shut so I think I'm going to hit the haystack early tonight!  All this getting up at 5 a.m. is getting to be too much for this lady's years.  I still like to walk and Cooper and I get our two walks in with no problems but some of the other things I do just wear me out!  Oh well, I guess that's more or less normal when you've see all the years I've seen!

I still like to cook and I found a new casserole today and I cut it in half and made it for me and it's delicious.  I still like to eat at this age and I still like to cook!

And I still like to sleep so that's where I'm going.  I wish you all a pleasant nights sleep and a great day tomorrow.  Make the day your own!  It's yours to do as you please!

PHYLLIS, I hope you found a good guy!  We all need a good guy for something!  I have one that does my yard.  He just comes by and checks to see what it needs and then he does it.  And he's still pretty cheap!  We also have a group in this area who go around and rake yards for old people for nothing.  That's great!

Good morning..

So much for Spring being here.I think shewent back to bed! High winds will bring down the dead limbs (widowmakers) and blowing snow with a temp of 21° at the moment. Certainly hope the highway and city roads are clear. for our trip to the city. Will get a better look when it gets light out. We have to be at the hospital for 9 this morning.

Phyllis, some just want the money and not the job. They will whizz around the yard and not do it proper. I hope you find a good man who pays attention to detail.

Jane, hope you are not getting this cold weather. You will have to wear your geemogotchees walking Cooper.!!

Patricia, I can see more folks wihout power with these high winds. Some have just got it back from last Sat.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Or IS it a "good morning"?  Cooper and I almost froze on our walk this morning!  the them was in the low 30s with a "feels like" temp in the low 20s!  If Spring is just around the corner, I sure like to know which corner!  And yes, AMY, I did need my geemagotchies!

I have to get ready for a dr. appt later this morning.  It's one that needs an all over shower and clothes that can come off and on easy!  I'll be happy when it's over!

I wish you all a great day!  I hope your weather is a bit warmer!  Whatever it is, try to enjoy your day!

Good morning, it's our chill day today with a current temperature of 18 with an expected high of 32. Again, we didn't get the promised snow overnight, even the minimally expected. Tonight the snow is expected to try again.

The warmup, expected Wednesday, has now been pushed back to Friday. All we seem to have is rain.

Amy, I hope you do well over the coming weekend. We seem to be following each other about weather wise.  Stay safe on those roads.

Jane, hope you stay safe outside as well, in your geemogotchees!

The Dr Kyle saw is amazing, first time we saw hom he saw us ealry, this time we may have waited 5-10 min..........explained every move he was making to put the needle into Kyle's spine. I am not so sure I could have sit still if it had of been me!

Today is on the road again, to the accountant,we shall see how that goes!

Good morning, Amy, still the same weather patterns here. Any warming has now been pushed back to Saturday.

I see the Ontario photos, and it's terrible damages, then the lower 48's continuing tornado and flood damage and the horrific earthquake in Myanmar and Thailand where close to 3000 lost their lives. And I have no words.

I Wish you all a blessed and safe night and the same for tomorrow.  I called my daughter today in Oklahoma and asked her if she was in any danger and she said she was on the road from Texas back home to IL.  I told her to let me know when she got home safely and she did just that.  Thank you for that!

PATRICIA and AMY, it was winter in PA today, also.  Our temps got down into the 30s and I did something that I vowed not to do this ?SPRING?  I wore my winter jacket for my walk with Cooper this morning.  And I'm glad I did!

Now I'm on my way to bed.  Cooper Doggie will be arriving a bit before 6 tomorrow and then I have an appointment with the ear dr. at 11 in the morning!  Another of THOSE days!  I wish you all a peaceful night and a safe and pleasant day tomorrow!  Good Night!

I've already taken Cooper Doggie for a walk, left him out in the yard to see what might be there, baked a casserole, had my breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen.... what else should I do?  Oh yes, I have to get ready to see the ear doctor later this morning and then we're going to make a quick stop at WM on the way home!  It's already been a busy day!

I'm determined NOT to take a nap today.  I fell asleep on the sofa yesterday and I slept poorly last night.  I even had to get up in the middle of the night and do something to make me sleepy enough to go back to bad.  That's not good!

AMY, I'm glad to hear the weather is clearing up there in the North!  When you get Spring, we're sure to get it!

PATRICIA, you were in here early!  Did you have trouble sleeping, too?

I'm off to try to get a couple more things done.  I wish you all a good day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  And be sure to stop by here and tell us what that was!  We're interested (nosy)!

I'm here, Amy. Just haven't had anything of note to contribute lately.

It looks like, we are pretty much out of the rain for a few days. Maybe getting up into the low 60s for a few days this coming week.

Oscar lost more weight in the month since he was last at the vet. He is now 8.5lb even though he has been eating fairly well for the last weeks or two. I've scheduled him for an ultrasound on Wednesday. The vet situation is as bad, if not worse, than the doctor situation abound here. The only other vet practice that offers ultrasound is not taking in any new pet patients so I must take him twice as far into unknown territory (meaning I've never explored that part of Perry County). Fortunately, it looks pretty easy to find if a bit winding No food after 10pm. That will go over well.

Good morning, another unusually cold day with the obligatory minimal snow and accompanying rain. We're expected to reach mid-forties today and mid-fifties by April's end. They keep pushing back the date for warmer temperatures.

MG, I am sorry to hear about Oscar's continuing weight loss. I hope the ultrasound will help in finding a diagnosis. After years of being overweight, Farrah, at almost 14 years, has lost five pounds but seems to be holding at ten pounds with a special diet. She's also no longer jumping very high, capping at about three feet, and sleeps more but is easily awakened.

She's also more affectionate with me and startles less and less wary of strangers if they're women. The vet says she's grown older, like we all do, but seems to be okay otherwise. I'm hoping that Oscar's issue is easily found.

I live at the edge of the older edge of the business and industrial district, inside the river's curve, while anything built past the nineteen fifties, is on the other side of the river. I mention this because all five local vet practices are at the outer edges of the city limits in that outer curve. So, if I can't get a ride, it's an expensive taxi trip to and from the vet.

Jane, Rick, enjoy your days and Amy, your current temps are my high for today... :-\

Today has been busy. Meet and greets, morning routine, Farrah fed and my latest cup of coffee in hand, I'm off to see what the Internet brings.

Hello to Everyfriend!  I had a phone call from daughter Christy in Maryland saying she was coming up here tonight.  She's not leaving there until after supper and she's supposed to text me when she's in the car ready to leave!  I'm thinking that she might get here just in time to wake me on the couch and tell me to go to bed!  I just find it so hard to stay awake in the evening!  If I've already seen the Perry Mason show that's on at 8, i tend to sleep through the one they're showing!

PATRICIA, it sounds like your kitty is doing well in her old age!  She's a bit like me...shortening her jumps and sleeping more and eating what she likes best!  That's me, too!

AMY, I do hope you don't have any more snow!  It's time for Spring no matter where we are.  I think April has hit here.  We're having April Showers all week this week.  It doesn't matter when you go out for a walk.  If it's not raining when you go, it is before you get back!

Now I'm going to figure out what to have for supper and eat in front of the TV.  I wish you all a happy evening and a peaceful night's sleep!

I just got a text from Christy. She's on the way.  She'll be here around 7.

We are so ready for nice weather, knowing that bugs come with it though. Guess one is difficult to please as I am not a fan of blackflies!!

Good morning, 34 presently, high will be 50 with some snow and rain overnight so nothing new there.

And that's all the news fit to print on this sunny April day.

I'm here with Christy's little doggie, Lennie!  She loves everyone!  Christy is cleaning Frankie's carpets and then they are all coming back here for supper with pizza!  And Frankie and Cooper are both spending the night.  So I guess I'll sleep in the single bad and let them have the night together.

I stayed home with both doggies while Christy and Frankie went shopping this afternoon.  It's been years since I was alone in the house with two doggies and it brought back lots of memories of Mickie and Annie (my Scottie Doggies).

I guess I better go play with Lennie so she doesn't get lonely.  I wish you all a pleasant rest of the day and a peaceful night's sleep.  I'll be back when I can!

Sure, why not.  We had a touch of snow the night before last. Melted of with the morning warming.

Good morning..

Calling for rain later on today and a starting temp of 26° at the moment. We are taking a day off and touring. I bet work will still be here when we come back.  ::)

Rick I think we both won't be sad if it doesn't snow anymore until Fall. The rhubarb has tried 3 times now to grow and each time it has been blanketed by snow. Thankfully it is a hardy plant!

Better get moving..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  My daughter, Cathy (the one who lives in my town) came and got Christy (my daughter who is visiting) and they went to do some shopping.  I'm home with the two doggies again.  They did invite me to go along but I chose to stay with the doggies.

I hope you all have a great day!  I'm going to go share mine with the doggies!!  I'll be back when I can!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  The day is yours!

Good morning all. 36 degrees presently but no real change outside. I feel that we're stuck in a back and forth pattern and wonder if we'll ever see green again.

Have you seen the photo of Bubble's new granddaughter? She's adorable! She also posted new ones of Lynn and Aviv. They're changing so much!

I've gotten all my morning domestic duties, as Callie would say, finished and need to have some coffee and see what else is going on across this internet.

I dont know where the time goes - one thing after another for the last couple of weeks now... I think our cold is over for the year - the cold last week was a shock but now it is fairly pleasant with lower than usual humidity

The rain this Spring so far has not been gully washers dragging with it the top soil from the backyard and dumping it in the barditch that runs across the front of all our property. Result the couple of vines I planted last 'summer' of all times did not die off as I thought - the rains have really brought them to life and they've take off - especially the Trumpet Vine that I hope will cover the front fence where I backup to the property that faces the busy street that is perpendicular to my street.

Here of late I cannot stop eating hard boiled eggs - been having one as a sandwich for lunch and another almost like a deviled egg for an afternoon or sometimes an evening snack... I had always purchased brown eggs but last week decided since I'm eating so many to get 18 instead of a dozen with my only choice white eggs - I usually get cage free - well what a difference - not only are the yolks smaller but the egg has a slightly different taste - not as full or something - can't describe it - all I know if ever I wanted to kill a hankering for hard boiled eggs buying and cooking white eggs will do it... had no clue there was that much difference.

Well happy Spring and for those still experiencing snow I bet the snow is different, maybe wetter? Only a couple of more weeks... a new blooming potted plant purchased with the groceries and sitting on the kitchen table does me wonders to lighten the house and think of Spring - for the first year ever I forgot to start some indoor bulbs and so I ended up cutting a magnolia branches from the front of the house for my bedroom - no bloom but just the green helps...

Hope the rest of all y'alls day is light and easy...

Good morning..

Another chilly morning with a starting temp of 30°. We just may get the rain today and hope it takes away the last remnants of snow.

Heard the loons on the lake and yesterday saw the osprey so they are also back.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good grief - near where I lived in Austin a house was being built on some vacant land still available and it exploded completely demolishing the house and knocking windows out and garage doors off 20 or more nearby homes - this is a part of Austin that the lot sizes are between a half and a full acre - close friend called to tell me - everyone is stunned. About 6 injured - they think they were building over an old buried gas tank that no one knew was there... so far that is not official and only the talk among nearby residents.

Can you just imagine that must have been quite a shock to experience.

Good morning, 34 presently and we're in the middle of overnight and today's heavy rain. What little snow we had is making it very slippery out there. This is the latest and most odd spring we have ever, to my knowledge,  experienced.

At the wildlife refuge and sanctuary, Fairbanks runway crews volunteers are plowing field rows and laying out grain. And, two trumpeter swans touched down at Creamer's Field shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday. Trumpeter swans normally arrive between April 10-12. Last year, the swans arrived at Creamer's Field on April 8.

"The traditional harbinger of waterfowl on the field are Canada geese, but trumpeter swan numbers have just proliferated continent wide," Mark Ross, the refuge's biologist, said Friday."

Swans, the largest member of the waterfowl family, migrate as far south as Arizona or Nevada when temperatures start to drop in the fall, according to the Alaska Wildlife and Sanctuary.

Barb, that must have been horrific for those in the explosion area. I'm surprised that wasn't discovered during the original planning.

Amy, we're finally breaking into the fifties, but the rain hasn't gone away yet.

Well, I'm here alone in this house again but this time it's super clean!  Christy brought her tools and her energy and she cleaned bared floors and carpets and you can not only SEE the diffeence, you can SMELL it, too!  She does a terrific job.  And she and Cathy put together a new porch settee that I got for Christmas from my other two kids, Cindy and Philip!  There's enough food in the fridge to last me at least a week and some to freeze for later!  I don't know where these nice kids came from but I'm sure glad they did!  And they'll all be back for my birthday at the end of the month!  Right now, Christy is on the road and she has to text me when she's home in Maryland!

I wish you all a great rest of the day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  It's your day!  Make it work for you!!

Good Morning Everyfriend!  I'm home alone again.  I got a message from Christy that she was home safe last night!  I missed her before she turned the corner two houses down the street!

AMY, the temp here is 40 degrees with a "feels like temp of 30"  so I guess we're suffering under the same weather today!  I just got back from walking Cooper and it's COLD out there!  He's not sitting by the door asking to go out in the yard!  I guess that means it's too cold for hime.  Also, your dinner sounds good and kind of easy to do!  Good for you!

I got a lot of left-overs when Christy left including some stuff that Frankie brought from the hospital.  She's always picking up stuff from the hospital for me.  I guess I don't have to become a patient to enjoy what they eat!

Have a good day and enjoy it when you can!  It's yours!  Make it work for you!

It is a beautiful morning here and supposed to go to near 70 degrees so I guess I can't complain about the
weather. I just ordered some groceries and they will be here around 9 o'clock so that chore is on it's way to being done.

Amy, we tried a taco kit from the grocery store last night, too.  Easy for David to heat chicken and tortillas in the
microwave and set out all the included fixins for eash of us to make our own the way we like.  It was seasoned just right and fresh tasting.  We will do that again, too.

Jane,  could you send Christy down to me, please?  My house needs cleaning desperately.  She sounds like a winner and you are so lucky to have such caring children.  My son is a wonderful caretaker but he doesn't see what needs to be done around the house.  I don't want to put another responsibility on his shoulders...he already has enough to do.  I think I need to look for a housekeeper to come in and hope I can find one who is good and who is dependable.

Take care,  All.

Good morning to all on yet another wet day at 36. While our temps have slowly increased and the snow, what there was of it, has decreased, the rain will remain a steady expectation, through the 25th.

Morning routines, feeding Farrah and me, coffee made, and meet and greets done until next time, here I am to check out today's internet.

Phyllis, I used to put basic rotating chores on a calendar, but since I always seemed to get to them further past that date, now I just list them in a column, with a small check each time they're done. Some have several checks while others, not so much, such as vacuuming.

Every once in a while, I will get a second wind and finish all in a day or two. But those days are few and far between. Usually preceding a notice of maintenance or such.

Your remark about David, reminded me of my last husband. We both worked long jobs with different hours and schedules, so were rarely home. One time, I remarked, just look at this house, to which he replied, what's wrong with it? He would never have thought of pitching in or even noticing.

Oscar and I are back from the vet in Marysville. What a trip. I took a road i have never been on before. After I drove past the last development, the road turned into a very curvy two lane up over the ridge that separates Cumberland County and Perry County. Good thing it was lovely weather and no traffic except me going up and very little coming back.

Okay, so what the vet found with the ultrasound is that his liver is "whiter" than expected (whatever that means) for which he says Oscar would have to have a biopsy to see what is wrong there. The other thing he found was that some of Oscar's intestines have a thicker wall than normal. He suggested blood work for that and the pancreas. It may be lymphoma or IBS. I kind of froze at lymphoma and declined the blood work for today, thinking that there would not be much that can be done.

When I got home, though, I looked up lymphoma in cats and discovered that there is a large cell and a small cell version. The small cell version can be treated with a lighter dose of chemo and with prednisone. Both of which can be administered at home, like Oscar would cooperate with that. Prognoses is a 2 to 5 year survival rate. The large cell version is more aggressive type needing a more aggressive treatment, and the survival rate is poor past 1 year. Either way I think maybe I should get the blood work. I might get to keep him a few years longer. BTW, did you know that the FIV vaccine actually helps to reduce the rate of lymphoma in cats?

Good evening.  I am sure most all of you are probably sleeping.

We are coming to the end of our time here in Arizona. The time sure has passed quickly. Not nearly as much fun packing up to go back home as it was when we were coming here😩

Last weekend we took a day drive to Jerome and on to Sedona. The views were spectacular.  We have not been to this area since the '80's and it sure has changed. We visited the chapel made in the rocks near Sedona.  Such a fun day.

It has turned so beautiful here with all of the trees in full bloom.  Many flowers are blooming.

We will have Easter Dinner with our family here, then we pack the car up and head back to Colorado.  It sure has been wonderful being here.

Pleasant dreams to all.  Sleep well.

Good morning

Spring forgot to bring the heat with her, we are at 20° at the moment.

Busy day ahead after shopping for some groceries. Some may get done while ithers can just spin their rhumbs till I get there.

MG , in the long run we do what we can for our fur family but we also don't want them to suffer. In the end it is us that suffers.

Jenny, good to see you.

Phyllis, we had leftovers last night only this time 4X times the sauce recipe was made!

Patricia, sometimes I have trouble just finding first wind.

Jane, I know once we are into summer complaints about the heat will be said but I wouldn't mind a bit of warmth now!!

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  JENNY, it's always nice to see a post from you!  I wish you a safe trip back to Denver.  I know you'll miss your family but the memories will be good!

AMY, I'm thinking longingly of the nice weather, too.  At least it's not supposed to rain today!  I don't have Cooper today because Frankie is off work so my walks will be lonelier without him!  I have a bunch of things to do inside but I sure don't have to clean!  Christy did a great job for me!  My cleaning lady won't have much to do when she comes this month!

I soon have to get packed for my trip to Oklahoma!  I'm liable to get there with nothing to wear!

I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  And let us know how you did that!  We're the curious type!

Good morning, 46 and cloudy at 10:08. Another shower this afternoon and overnight. Morning routines are finished, and I'm here to visit and then on into the internet.

Jenny, you had a wonderful visit, and even though the return trip, may be full of reminiscences, you'll probably be glad to be home and to reconnect with those in Colorado.

Amy, I've been so lazy lately, that even my meals are from refrigerator surfing. Not too long ago, it seems, I was cleaning my apartment in under two to two and a half hours.

Jane, you do seem to be taking lots of trips these days. Having close family must be nice. While my sister and I email almost daily, she and the rest of my family are thousands of miles from me. I was recently talking with my cousin who lives in Oklahoma in Midwest city. According to our DNA, he and I are most similar, sharing the most traits, and next is my youngest nephew.

Well, it's bedtime in Central PA and I'm ready!

PATRICIA, I don't travel that much.  I don't drive any more and the only time I go anywhere is when someone takes me and that mostly local.  I have been going to OKlahoma in the late spring or early summer for the past 4 years because that's where all my great grandchildren are.  But uostly, I go when someone can take me.  Cindy will be up here for her daughter's college graduation and I'm going back with her when she goes.  I'm also going to the graduation ceremony.  It's down in southeastern PA and I call that close.

Now, I'm heading for the haystack because Cooper will be arriving a bit before 6 a.m. tomorrow.  And he'll be ready for his breakfast when he gets here and a walk as soon as it's light enough!

I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a great day tomorrow!  It's your day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!

I started packing for my trip to Oklahoma but so far all I'll be able to do is sleep there.  I have pajamas packed and a bathrobe.  I guess I can get up and walk around a bit where people can't see me in a bathrobe at 2:30 in the afternoon!

Sorta overcast - maybe rain - we shall see...

This heavy humid air we've had this Spring is sneaking into the tubes that bring the cold air to the registers - No way can you have an attic vent to the outdoors - the extra bit of height is all the wind needs to take far more than the vent off the roof and so I got a bright idea and have ordered a small fan with a light that can be turned on when needed that, would you believe, screws into a light fixture - I'm going to try the one and see if it helps and if I notice any difference then I will get a second one for the light fixture at the other end of the attic... The attic is super insulated but the stale warm air is getting into the vents when the AC is off all night - Come summer of course it won't be off all night however, if this works it should help even during the summer, not so much cool the attic but at least the air will circulate.

I'm trying a new way to freshen the air in the house - saw it on some, I don't remember, maybe Youtube or maybe facebook or maybe Pinterest - anyhow - I don't remember the proportions exactly but I don't think it matters - a bunch of rock salt, add a goodly amount of cloves, some cinnamon,  cinnamon sticks and some baking soda - they said to add vinegar to the mixture but baking soda and vinegar bubble up and that would wet the entire concoction and so I'm skipping the vinegar and I ordered 'powdered' lemon peel - never knew dried lemon peel came in a powdered form

The mixture makes sense to me - the spices are obvious but I remember salt lamps were the 'thing' back some years ago for freshening the air and of course baking soda does wonders in so many ways - I've some 4X8 muslin sacks I used when I put herbs in soup and so I think I'll put the mixture in the sacks and if they work then a bunch of them will also go into the attic - don't know how long the mixture will last - they say a cup of it will freshen about 500 square feet in an area with a typical 8 foot ceiling. My home ceilings are higher but the attic ceiling is about 6 feet.

Always fun trying new tricks especially if they don't cost much...

Can't believe tomorrow is Easter - I've decided enough with Easter gifts - sent ecards plus we are still keeping our prayer vigil for my cousin - she did have a couple of good hours earlier in the week but has gone down appreciably since - all her kids came in from as far away as California - my cousin lives in North Carolina as does my daughter and my kid sister. Making the trip back East is too much for me and so my daughter is updating me.

Hope all y'alls Easter is fulfilling - anyone dying eggs?

Long gone are the days of dying eggs here. Neighbour has coloured eggs, white, brown, blue and green. :)

Do you have a washing machine that tells you when to clean it?? These new fangled machines are for the birds!!   Mine is now going through a cleaning cycle, didn't have to do that with my other machine or the wringer washing machine.

Amy, today's a colder day, with only 36 at 1 PM. It's very dry out, so we never got yesterday's snow or rain.

I've been running hither and yon trying to get some things done and helping a friend out. She's the one I spoke of having trouble adjusting and had a severe anxiety attack last night, Some of us are trying to pack for her and to clean the place while others are trying to help save her costs on her lease. And her son is flying up to collect her and her belongings.

Easter Blessings to y'all...

Angles decided to play this morning and they chose to bowl - then whichever group lost cried and cried and now they have left the bowling ally allowing the sun to shine just a little bit - not sure what they have up their sleeve for us next ---

No signs of any neighbors or their children and in fact the house across the streets looks like they are on vacation. Feels sorta empty - I guess remembering the Easters of the past this is very quiet on the verge of feeling empty - I guess this too is part of aging alone.

I've realized I usually like alone - the only time it leaves me feeling horses and snakes is on holidays and not all holidays - never know what to fix to eat - hmm that is it - I just need to put together a group of recipes and menus that I would look forward to for the each holiday and then decide what I'm celebrating rather than just expect to capture what was... maybe it is just a day that wears a smile - hmm

Good Morning to Everyfriend!  I'm up and attem.  Cooper has arrived and had his breakfast and we're waiting for daylight to take our first walk.  It's almost here!

I wish you all a good day!  Make it your own in every way!  And don't forget to share with us how you did that!  We might need an idea!

Good morning..

I think Spring needs a GPS.temp is 29° this morning..

Kyle told me Pope Francis passed away at the age of 88 this morning.

Doing more yard work today and hope it is soon done. Have yet to put out the rain barrels ,maybe wait a couple of weeks to do that.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Yes, it was obvious he, the Pope was going to pass soon but it was still a shock to hear - lots will be happening the next couple of weeks...

clear for now but rain all this week - had all this painting I want to finish however best put it off till its less humid with a sunny day.

Jane any flowers blooming or trees leafing where you are and Amy at 29 degrees I'm thinking your are still looking at bare trees but maybe just maybe there is a crocus peeking out???

craziest thing - I just do not do well with indoor plants however just before Christmas they were getting rid of the cyclamens at our HEB (Texas Grocery Chain) and were on sale for the unbelievable price of 49 cents - within the first couple of weeks it was nearly finished blooming and I added a bit of sugar and Epsom salts - rebirth and bloomed through February and stayed green in March then the first part of April and poked in the soil a piece of candied ginger and would you believe there are a half dozen stalks with buds on the end of each --- all this for 49 Cents - if only I had this kind of luck with other plants that cost me as much as $14.

Laundry today including bed sheets which are a bear to fold - I think I will hard boil some eggs...

Lots of flowering bushes here now - apple, cherry, forsythia, and some unnamed. Even my new grass is starting to pop.  Most trees are also leafing out. Of course with that comes spring allergies.

Warm this morning and supposed to go up near 80 today. All of the flowering shubs in my yard are coming to the end of their blooming time and I will miss them, they were especially lush and beautiful this year.  Laundry today and I might put some eggs in the instant pot and have them on hand to make egg salad to go with leftover ham for sandwiches.

Take care, All.

Phyllis, what a lovely yellow sign of spring!

Good morning, thirty degrees out and our snow is just a memory. This week, our median temperature will be in the fifties, a colder start but the unusual has been our new normal this year. We've entered into the Brown period, waiting on the Greening.

This far north, the Greening is a capitalized, naturally occurring synchronized event that happens suddenly and is over in an hour. Then the flowers make an entrance in May. At the wildlife refuge and sanctuary, geese, woodpeckers, swans, tundra, whooper and trumpeter; plus shovetails, among others are making themselves at home. As our hawks, owls and songbirds. A golden eagle was sighted but no confirmation as yet.

Meet and greets, daily routines are happening, and we're gathering to help one of our regulars prepare to leave us and move to a care home in Arizona. Her son is here, her apartment's been cleared, and we're waiting on her to stabilize before we say our goodbyes, and she moves on to yet another chapter.

Around here Oxalis is more or less considered a weed. In the grass it is very invasive. Often mistaken as clover or shamrock.
Title: Re: Soda Shoppe April 1 , 2025
Post by: phyllis on April 21, 2025, 04:03:28 PM
But that is my point.  It is considered a weed here, also, by the people  who want that "perfect" lawn that reqires constant weed killers and lots of watering...all things that are damaging our planet.  Just what I don't want.
I have it mowed at high setting to keep it neat but that is all.  Already the bees and butterflies and other propagators are coming back and, best of all these charming little flowers that bring such color to my yard.  I know most home owners  are never going to agree with me but it is my yard and this is what I want.  OK, my sermon is over.  :loud:

Phyllis, there are lots of people that feel the way you do. Lawns are being considered detrimental and anti-conservative in many places, with people opting for more natural ground covers.

In the yard at my old house were volunteer hyacinth, grape hyacinths, vinca, a few tulips, lots of violets (white and blue), two holly bush volunteers, the ubiquitous dandelion, something I think is called an Asian day-lily, and several other wildflower-weeds. Oh, a rose bush volunteered at the bottom of the yard a few years before I moved. It finally had a small pink blossum or two the year before I moved. The day-lily was a challenge to control, as were the Virginia creeper and the Baltic ivy.  Bare spots I seeded with clover and was rewarded with a few visiting honey bees, but some years I got none. Wild honey bees really struggle around here, if you see them at all. There used to be so many more when I was a young'un.

My little mini-garden at the apartment now has daffodils in bloom. The tete-a-tetes are pretty much at the end of their bloom, but the taller jonquils are still holding up well. This fall I want to see if I can't find some Limricks (yellow and green centers) and some with peach centers. It is time to go find a ground cover. Creeping thyme, maybe.

Spring has sprung in Central Pennsylvania.  There are trees with blooms on them and other trees with leaves trying to push their way out.  Daffodils are in bloom and dandelions are all over the place!  All the trees are budding!  Spring has SPRUNG!  I even had some of the windows open today!  And I went for two walks without a jacket today!

We shall see what tomorrow brings.  I almost forgot....i have lots of tulips blooming in my yard! and there are buds on everything...including the dogwood trees!

Great! It looks like Spring, with all its color and busy pollinators has spread past the center of the nation to the northern upper reaches with, from Patricia's report, Spring is only a week or so away from popping out in the far north country... don't know about y'all if your bedclothes are lighter but when I stripped my bed yesterday I remade it minus the heavy winter quilt - took a nap today and feeling the lighter weight was nice - soon that will be too much but for now, nice... about to turn down the lights and pile in to sleep again under the Spring weight comforter... 'night y'all...

It's going to be a warm day today.  I took a walk without my jacket this morning and I was plenty warm enough.  It's supposed to make it to the high 70s this afternoon!

I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way....and let us all know how you did that!  We might like to try your way!

MG, your description of the volunteer flowers/weeds in your former yard is just what I am hoping for.  Forgive me if I am a little jealous of what you had there.  IMO, creeping thyme would be perfect.   It takes awhile to spread but the beautiful carpet of color is so lovely.

Thanks, Phyllis. The garden space is small and slightly sloped. It is in the shad a good bit of the day and I heard creeping thyme does well in the shade. AND, I discovered it comes in a variety of colors. I still like the purple best. I am hoping to find some started plants, otherwise I will have to buy seeds and start them in pots.

Good morning..

I don't think todays chores will be done, it sure needs to warm up some for lawn raking.I do have more than enough chores waiting in the wings to  be done though.Need to cook up some ground chicken for Jesse and add peas and carrots to it.
The frogs have been singing the past two nights, not many ,so I guess some are still asleep in the mud.

Barb other than the odd crocus no flowers here yet. Trees have yet to leaf out. My favourite is when the lilacs are in bloom. Leave the bedroom window open and the scent comes in at night.

Patricia, I can sympathize  with your friend, not easy leaving a rural life  but a necessity at times to go into town then another up rooting to go with her son.I really miss the good food  fresh vegetables right from the garden home raise meats and NO city lights at night...just stars in the sky.

Phyliss, that flower is so pretty!! New some folks that their front yard was nothing but creeping phlox.

Jane today is wear a coat 25° is not a day to go without one.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good Morning Everyfriend!  Cooper arrived a bit before 7, ate his breakfast and then we took a walk!  Now he's out on the porch lying on my new settee!  He loves being outside and he always joins me on the settee if I'm out there.  If I'm not, he has it all to himself!

My grass is mowed for the first time this Spring.  The guy that does is is special.  If he does yard work, he brings along boys in the summer.  He and his wife have one of their own and they have 4 more adopted ones!  I found him when Cathy was still working.  He did the grounds where she worked.  I think he still does that but she's retired now!

I made a batch of "Jim's Egg Thingys" so I have something to offer people who are staying with me over the weekend!  Next is a casserole.  I promised this one to Christy so I have to make it.  I also have to finish my packing for the trip to Oklahoma!  I can't wait to see the kids!

AMY, the temp here is currently 60 degrees and heading for a high of 78!  I think we're further south than you are!  I wish you better weather soon!

Now I'm off to start the casserole so I can be ready for company.  I wish you all a fun day!  Do whatever suits your fancy!  It's your day!

Lots of rain storms here yesterday and now today... some time during the wee hours this morning we lost electricity - when the generator comes on it does not turn on my room air filters or the computer and new, for some reason it messed up the clock next to my bed but thank goodness the AC worked without a hitch and the biggie I don't have to toss the food in my refrigerator and freezer - looks like a  coffee and reading day - rain and my arthritis do not mix and taking aspirin helps but makes me feel less secure being active and so, after a day yesterday when nothing went well or as expected today I'm not risking more than sitting and reading while drinking my coffee... so there, said as if a 5 year old...  :2funny:

Good morning, all. And especially to Amy, after taking a day off. Morning routines, meet and greets and feeding everyone done with coffee ready, and only a haircut scheduled at noon. It's forty presently with partly cloudy skies.

Amy, You're right, going from a busy rural life where she was the one who assisted others and worked the land is an unwelcome change for her.

For me, living my life in towns and cities, leaving a window open or door unlocked isn't an option. I don't even like the concept of leaving the house keys on a hook by the door.

Jane, enjoy your visits today, I've made a few and enjoyed those egg things you posted in recipes. I've also passed the recipe onward.

Barb, it rained all winter, something we've never had before to my knowledge. And what little snow we did have turned to frozen sheets of ice. At least this brown period is familiar, and everyone awaits the Greening. I don't know of another place where the entire land, weeds, bushes, trees, etc., turns green all together within an hour.

I'm sure there must be other northern places, that do as well. Some with better eyesight than me say there is a subtle color right before, but I've never seen it. The land simply awakens as far as you can see within sixty minutes.

I know what you mean about the arthritis. I have the long bones in my forearms and legs that can simply ache, and I can't take aspirin, only Tylenol. You simply have to wait it out.

Rick, that's my usual afternoon plan unless I'm going out. 👩

PATRICIA, JIM is delighted every time I tell him I passed the recipe on to someone I know.  And he's even more delighted when that person passes on the recipe!  It makes him feel like he's done something good!

Now I'm off to the haystack.  cooper will be arriving a bit before 6 tomorrow and later in the day, Christy will be coming up from Maryland.  I have the bed to change and some other stuff to get done before they all show up!  So I wish you all a peaceful night's sleep and a great day tomorrow.  I'll try to pop in but I'm not promising!  I'll miss you all if I don't make it here!

Wow I'm impressed Jane - you actually made it in here and wished everyone a Good Morning - hope your day turns out to be all you hope.

Amy sounds like Spring is slowly creeping in... when it comes I bet it will be very welcomed.

Still rainyish - not actually raining just looks like any minute the sprinkles will come. At least it is bright through the haze.

No game tonight - still getting used to the new lineup of players - winning the last 3 games was nice to watch - tonight our local PBS station shows Brit Coms so that will make for an easy relaxing prelude to sleep...

Well I'm off to do a few more chores - need to get a load of laundry going - hope y'all have a good day...

We are in for rain and maybe t storms late today. Might get the raking done but if not oh well another day it may happen.

Thoroughly enjoyed playing hookie yesterday, we did start out in rain but then the sun came out!  We haven't travelled that way in a long time and enjoyed the scenery. Did't see any wild life , not like a fellow did the other day. He hit a year old moose and neither the truck or moose won. At least the meat didn't go to waste as they were starting to clean it up when we passed by.

Patricia, hope your friend keeps in touch with all of you.

Better shake a leg and get moving.

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Just finished watching the Pope's funeral service including the cavalcade to St. Mary Major. It is a bright sunny day in Rome.

Here, on the other hand, it is humid with light rain. I don't think we will be seeing any sun today. I had to use my allergy eye drops again this morning, as I did yesterday, even though the weather chart shows our air pollution level is good.

Oscar is taking his prednisone well crushed in with his meal, 1/2 tablet a day. A lot less stress on both of us.

Hope you all have a nice day.

It is going to be a bummer of a day for me but worth it... Yesterday evening I took a nap that lasted just under 4 hours, till just before 8: because I wanted to see the Pope's funeral - a couple of times I dozed but quick caught myself - the funeral started 3: in the morning and lasted till 6:  I lasted till after 5: and slept-in till a bit after 1: this afternoon - and now I learn the funeral is repeated in its entirety this afternoon starting at 3: sheesh - oh well its done and I did it and that is that...

I don't know if it is because you don't speak ill of the dead or are there that many who saw a different side of Francis but his life is for sure a mix - I notice today his arch critic Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò had a requested interview that showed Pope Frances' Globalist decision making and some of the behind the scenes work to waylay Pope Benedict that the media decided to pull - all this cloak and dagger is more like reading Medieval history than 21st century happenings. Sure hope it is not a half to a full century similar to Medieval shenanigans before this is straightened out and we get back to focusing on the spiritual nature of the church.

Well since I missed the last about 45 minutes last night or actually early this morning I'll watch again starting at 5: for the last hour... in the meantime I've a load of laundry going and I need to vacuum the area around my bed since I tried using baking soda to rid the area of these itsy bitsy minuscule spiders and now the baking soda spread all over the floor...

Good Morning Everyfriend!  It's going to be a very busy day today!  I'm up first so I'm taking a minute to greet you all and let you know that I'm enjoying my visit with family members.  Yesterday, we had a lot of time (including supper here) with my oldest grandson who lives in Mexico.  I do get to see him about once a year but it's not enough!  It's also nice having my daughter from Oklahoma in the same house.  She still has lots of friends around here so she's doing a lot of visiting.

Today is the big day and there will be close to 40 relatives and friends at lunch with me to help celebrate.  I love having them all around!  I better get my coffee down before they start hitting the floor.  Frankie took Cooper home with her last night so we only have one little doggie left in the house.  And she sticks to her "Mommy" when she can!

I wish you all a great day!  Make it your own in every way!  I don't know when I'll be back but when I can, I will!

Good morning..

This week had better be better than last! Started out ok then mercy it changed. Raked all the pine needles from the front yard and took them away. Neighbour called said his wife was heading  on her way for gallbladder surgery and could we look after the house. Yesterday at 3:30 am woke to no power. Hauled the generator out ,hooked it up and yay power...then no internet!

Now they say we are in for a tornado on Tue....and I just put the patio table and chairs out......guess I will haul them to the garage for safe keeping.

Please let this week be less stressful :))

Jane, I was going to call but thought time with family that you don't see took priority..but I will call.. :smitten:

Better get the day started..

Enjoy your day and stay safe.

Good morning everyone. We're entering into a week-long period of rain, even as we slowly warm past the fifties. This morning I was up until four. All of us, seeing off our friend on her new journey with her son. He assures us that he will keep in touch, and perhaps down the road she may as well.

Jane, I was sorry to have missed wishing you a happy birthday and hope it was a very happy one. You must have been so happy with friends and family helping to celebrate such a momentous occasion!   :hb2:

Amy, you've had a couple of bad days and issues lately. I'm hoping that all week will be smooth rather than rough for you. Please stay safe and sane!

Thank you all for the good wishes!  It was a great day and I was very tired at the end of it!  But I'd do it again if it happened again!

Today I had lunch at my Lewisburg daughter's house.  That's where my Texas granddaughter is staying with my newest great grandson!  I got to hold him and play with him and he smiled at me and he even laughted out loud!  He's about 5 and a half months and he's growing and learning fast!  He's a laugher!  He'll laugh at almost anything!  I'm going to miss him when he goes back to Texas!

AMY, I hope your electricity stays on now!  We really do get used to having it, don't we!  And when it goes out, we miss it!

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishess!  I really enjoyed the day but I don't feel a year older!

Now I'm going to hit the sack because Cooper will be here a little before 7 and ready for his walk!  Good night Everyfriend!  Sleep well and wake refreshed to a new day!

I may take a quick run up to the drug store and post office today or tomorrow. Other than a little housework and continuing my attempts to rearrange and weed out a few items, I have nothing pressing for the next few days.
